The Reality Of Evil Within Us

November 20, 2015
The Reality of Evil Within Us In the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Marlow, the
Lawyer, the Doctor and the Accountant voyage down to Africa from London to assist the
Europeans with their mission to rule the Natives and discover ivory. This roots one to assume to
being in a day dream where it s amazing as if you were having the time of your life than all of a
sudden hell drops and you die resulting in a constant one s life. The complexity of inadequate
regularity results in a fading reality, in which deaths and complications arise and cause evil to take
root within humans. The lack of deviation in the novel Heart of Darkness results in a reality fading
for Marlow. I felt often its mysterious stillness watching me at my monkey tricks, just as it
watches you fellows performing on your respective tight ropes for what is it? Half a crown a
tumble try to be civil, Marlow (Conrad 42). Marlow is forgetting his old regularity in London
because he is being taken over by Africa s constant which is dark, and violent, and is referred to
as the heart of darkness . As a result, Marlow becomes attached to the heart of darkness, which can
cause a dilemma when he returns to London because it will constantly remind him of horrors that
he witnessed. Marlow was aware that his gasp on reality was weakening and thus, felt the need to
remind himself to be civil. They would have been more impressive; those heads on the

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien And The Lord Of The Rings
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892. He was a major scholar of the English
language regarding Old and Middle English. Tolkien was the professor of Anglo Saxon (Old
English) at the University of Oxford, and he also wrote stories, including The Hobbit (1937) and
The Lord of the Rings (1954 1955); the setting is in a prehistorical time in his inventive world
called by the Middle English name of Middle earth (Doughan). This was lived by Men and
Women, Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, Orcs and Hobbits. He has been condemned by the Eng. Lit.
establishment, but loved by the vast masses (Doughan). There are some specific and significant
events in his childhood and youth that will influence on his works in the future, such as name,
family, education, etc. His name Tolkien is from the German Tollkiehn; in origin, the name is a
compound of toll meaning mad and kuhn meaning brave , and so meaning foolhardy. His nave
also can refer to someone unwisely bold or someone who displays courage and initiative in face
of overwhelming odds (Grotta 15); he occasionally used the pseudonym Oxymore (Doughan). His
father s side of the family migrated from Saxony in the 18th century, but about in the first half
century before his birth had become Anglicized. His father, Arthur Reuel Tolkien, was a bank
clerk, and went to South Africa in the 1890s for better opportunity of promotion. There he was
married by Mabel Suffield, since then whose family were not only English, but West

ABSTRACT
Our class designed an experiment in order to test the ability of the enzyme cellobiase to break down
cellobiose, in order to produce p nitrophenol when certain factors were changed including
temperature, pH, and inhibitor concentration as well as a change in concentration in the enzyme and
substrate. A baseline experiment was established and absorbances were taken in order to determine
the concentration of p nitrophenol in each scenario. We then took these calculations in order to then
calculate Vo, inhibitor, enzyme and substrate concentration to produce a graph.
Baseline Experiment
TubeTime (min)Absorbance (nm)p nitrophenol 1100.000 220.0250.210 440.050.413 660.10.745
880.21.471
Following the instructions from the Biofuel Enzyme Kit, we performed a baseline experiment in
which all factors remained constant except time in order to establish a control for absorbance and
concentrations of p nitrophenol. We then used this information to determine the Vo and the other
concentrations in order to form a graph. On a molecular level, since the temperature, pH, inhibitor,

Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity
Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his
king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book
either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the
Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that
the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book
concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on
the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to
be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the
foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual
father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers
of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a
way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his
contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of
Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person
in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling,
relentless, ferocious, and aggressive.

Official Age To Start Working Paper
Why is 14 the official age to start working? Why can t it be 12? I think that if people younger
than 14 wanted to get a job then they should be able to. The age to get working papers should be
moved from 14 to a younger age.
First of all, it would let kids work if they want to. Some kids are very mature for their age and want
to work. If the age was lowered then kids that aren t very mature will become more mature.
Lowering the age will also build character. They will realize how hard their parents work and this
will make them more grateful and they will want to work harder. This is one of the reasons I think
the age should be lowered.
Also, lowering the age to start working will help families who need money. A lot of families
need extra money and with another person working it could help. They could save money
earlier for college or for a car. By the time they will be able to get a job they ll already be driving
and they won t have money to buy a car because they don t have money saved. Working will make
them feel better about themselves. It will make them feel proud that they are saving money and
working hard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If kids don t have to work for most of their teenage years they will probably become very lazy and
they won t build working skills. By the time they will be allowed to get a job they won t want to
work they will just want to be lazy and play video games in their free time. Lowering the age to get
a job will give them experience in working. They will learn how to juggle a job and school before
school gets more complicated in high school. It will also make them more motivated while at
school because they won t want to work at a low paying job all their

Personal Trainer Interpreting
To demonstrate my ability to analyze the effectiveness of interpreting performances generated by
myself and peers by applying contemporary theories, performance assessments, and peer reviews, I
have provided three collections of evidence items.
The first collection, Personal Trainer, demonstrates my ability to apply several theoretical
constructs and assessment tools to analyze interpreting performances generated by myself and that
of a peer. The Video text titled, Personal Trainer was the first lab assignment from my Consecutive
Interpreting course INTR 322. I started the analysis with discussion of my application of the

Moreover, within the reflective self analysis I discuss use of Russell s meaning based processing

model is that it also allows me to assess how well I transitioned between consecutive and
simultaneous interpretation and my ability to monitor processing throughout the work. Next in this
collection is the ASL video where I discuss the effective and less effective discourse management
strategies observed in the work produced by the sample interpreter for the same text. In this report,

All The Light We Cannot See Love
Love is a powerful tool. It can be used for good, and it can be used for evil. As we see in Anthony
Doerr s novel, All the Light We Cannot See, in all times; doubt, pain, triumph, anger, or even
happiness, we must always have love.
To begin, we must always have love because it gives us courage. We see this when some Russian
men enter the house containing the main character s sister, Jutta, three other girls, and their
mother figure, Frau Elena. Frau Elena says, Stay calm and they won t shoot. I ll make sure to go
first. After that they ll be gentler (Doerr 490). Frau Elena knew the Russians were there, and they
all knew they were going to get raped, yet she risks her life for these girls. This shows her deep love
and connection, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see this with Werner s sister, Jutta, who is angry that Werner wants to leave to go to the Nazi
School of Schulpforta. When she objects to this, he says what he believed to be correct; He
rehearses in his head the argument he will present to his sister. Pflicht. It means duty. Obligation.
Every german fulfilling his function (Doerr 124). Werner truly believed he was doing the right
thing by going to Nazi School; that this was the best way to make money, avoid the mines, and
fulfill his duty. It may have seemed selfish to Jutta at the time, but in his heart, he truly did leave
out of love. The people we love don t always understand our actions, but love keeps us on the track
of morality. More importantly however, we see Werner act out of love in a much more
significant way when he finds Marie Laure s radio, but leaves her alone; ...the antenna is all but
invisible. He hears Jutta s voice; I bet he does these broadcasts from a huge mansion, big as this
whole colony [...] He walks fast to the hotel, head down, hands in his pockets (Doerr 409).
Werner s job is to track people with radios and kill them. He even finds Marie Laure s radio
antenna, however the second he sees it, he thinks of Jutta and all the love he has for his sister.
These were the first broadcasts they d listen to as kids, and he immediately changed his mind.
Werner could have easily killed her, but he knew that was wrong. His thoughts

Basic Forms Of Business Organization
Three basic forms of business organization are sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation.
Sole proprietorship is the simplest form of business organization in which there is only one
owner (Cheeseman, 2015, p. 570). Single person is responsible for all debts, liabilities, and
obligations, as well as unlimited liability for business operations. If the owner is unsuccessful
and acquires debt, creditors can pursue legal action and acquire access to personal bank
accounts, real estate, and other assets by the court order to repay person s debt obligations.
Owners of sole proprietorships cannot raise capital by selling shares that represent stakeholder
interest in the business. The owner reports all income and expenses in personal tax return. The
business terminates upon withdrawal or an owner s death. The owner can sell the business and
by doing so, will lose the ownership. Advantages of sole proprietorship include freedom of
decisions, tax breaks, ease to start, ownership of all profits, being taxed once as a personal
income of the owner, and lack of government compliance. Disadvantages of sole proprietorship
include unlimited liability, very limited sources of production, and difficulty to raise capital.
According to Cheeseman (2015), general partnership is an association of two or more persons to
carry on as co owners of a business for profit (p. 572). The rights and duties of partners are
established in the partnership agreement and by law such as Uniform

Chaco Canyon Essay
Chaco Canyon hi my name is Andres answer my quest New Mexico I went to Chaco Canyon
Chaco Canyon is a historical site that is often forgotten but is still an amazing place to know about.
What was the history, the culture and why did the Chacoans build such immense structures that
were not occupied year round.
The Chacoans were a civilization that lasted from the 800s to the 1100s and were living across
New Mexico. They were an agricultural society that their main food source were the three sisters,
corn, beans, and squash. They also supplemented their diet with any animals they could catch.
In the late 800s Pueblo Bonito, Una Vida, and PeГ±asco Blanco were constructed, followed by
Hungo Pavi, Chetro Ketl, Pueblo Alto, and others. By 1050, Chaco had become the ceremonial,
administrative, and economic center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was important because it told the Chacoans when to plant their crops and harvest them.
Other archaeologists think that the great houses were a center for trade due to the fact that they
found items from as far as Central America such as parrot feathers and abalone which is a type of
shell.
The puzzling thing is that there is not a lot of organic waste in the refuse piles which means that
the Native Americans that we were living there we re not there all the time.
we still do not know why the ancestral puebloans left Chaco Canyon and we probably never know
for sure. But it is still a place that many should visit at least once in their life.
my sources were the Chaco Canyon movie and the National Park Service website (https:/

already had previous knowledge. Also I thought you would really be amazing to see these

How Does Catherine Earnshaw Marry Edgar Linton
In Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontГ«, Catherine Earnshaw is in love with Heathcliff, a poor
orphan who has become her foster brother. Their inseparable bond helps them survive the harshness
and cruelty of their lives. However, wealthy Edgar Linton is in love with her as well, and Catherine
must choose between them. Cathy sacrifices her future with Heathcliffso that she can marry Edgar
Linton. This reveals that she is selfish enough to want a comfortable life at the expense of her true
love , but that she is also pragmatic and knows that having more money will help Heathcliff into a
better social situation.
Cathy is shown to appreciate having expensive things and acting like the Lintons. Instead of a
wild, hatless little savage jumping into the house, and rushing to squeeze us all breathless, there
lighted from a handsome black pony a very dignified person, with brown ringlets falling from the
cover of a feathered beaver, and a long cloth habit, which she was obliged to hold up with both
hands that she might sail in. (BrontГ« 101). When she talks to Nelly about why she is forsaking
Heathcliff to marry Linton, she points out that he is rich, and I shall like to be the greatest woman

Insoluble Concentration
Silver sulfadiazine may displace the hydrogen bonds within the bacterial DNA. Once these
bonds that serve to connect the 2 strands of the DNA double helix are displaced, bacterial
replication and cell viability are effectively reduced. Mammalian cells have approximately 100
times more DNA than bacterial cells. Thus, the ratio of inhibitory concentrations of silver
sulfadiazine to bacterial DNA is high enough to prevent bacterial division. However, the resulting
ratio of silver sulfadiazine to epithelial DNA is sufficiently low that epithelial cell regeneration is
not impaired. As silver sulfadiazine (AgSd) is relatively insoluble it reacts very slowly with the
chloride components of tissue exudates to form silver chloride (AgCl) and sodium sulfadiazine
(NaSd). Sodium sulfadiazine thus formed being a structural analog and competitive antagonists of
para aminobenzoic acid(PABA), prevent normal bacterial utilization of PABA for the synthesis of
folic acid (pteroylglutamic acid) which is required for the synthesis of various precursors of DNA
and RNA like thymidine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soothing effect experienced when a silver sulfadiazine containing ointment is applied to a raw

only gradually. In contrast, normally soluble substances when applied to a raw wound are
irritating, probably due to the hyper tonicity due to the high concentration of the substance which
occurs when a soluble substance is dissolved immediately in a body fluid. The insolubility of

when topically applied to a burned

This poem is happy and cheerful, it is about love and nature. The poem My Love is presumably
written about Lowell s late wife Maria. In it, Lowell writes about how much he loves this
woman and how perfect and awesome her love is. He talks about how selfless and fair she is,
how kind and wide her heart is, and how she is a blessing to be with. The mood of this poem is
cheerful and appreciative. Summer Storm is about the feeling of everything before a storm,
what it s like to be in a storm, and the calm a storm has when it parts. Lowell uses so much
imagery in this piece that it makes the reader feel like they are in the storm. Another poem by
Lowell is called The Moon, he compares the moon to his soul. The tone of this poem is very sad,
angry, and lonely. It seemed like his personal tragedies may have prompted him to write this
piece. Lastly, there is Song, which is about a fair bud of a lily. The sun, wind, and rain take care
of it and it grows into a beautiful woman flower, but sadly and suddenly it is struck by death
during the process of its growth. One may inquire that this poem may have been prompted by
one of his person tragedies. Most of Lowell s works were effected by the joyful and the tragic
events that were afoot in his life. For example. My Love was written about his the love of his life,
and The First Snowfall was prompted by the death of his children. His works were also influenced
by the events in his time,

Pros And Cons Of Ncaa Football
Over the years, changes have been made to the postseason of NCAA football. There have been
two major types of game series: the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and the College Football
Playoffs (CFP). The BCS was introduced to have the best teams in the nation voted to secure
spots in bowl games, determining who is the best team of that year. The CFP let all games in the
regular season help a team reach the playoffs and play in the championship game to be declared
the NCAA champions. Although many people claim that the CFP s are the best option for the
NCAA, many people argue that the BCS is the better choice to conclude the footballseason, which
leads to think if the change to the CFP was the right choice. The BCS should be reinstated because
of its ability to have the top contenders for national champion play each other in order to be the
best in the NCAA.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An advantage of the BCS stresses how important it can be to win the weekly, regular season
games, and this makes the games more exciting for fans and players. Another advantage of the
BCS is that a conference cannot have a monopoly over the whole bowl series, this means that
one conference cannot hold a position in more than three bowl games. This form of post season
was instituted in 1998 to provide non typical match ups and determine the best teams in the
NCAA. This did not always work because the teams were also determined by a vote. People who
voted often chose the more popular team, because they did not always want to watch teams they
knew little about. Usually, the best team was picked in order to make for the most spectacular

same name that ran from 1964 1968 starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. I never saw the
original television series, so I went into the movie theater with no idea what to expect.
The movie is set in the 1960s, during the height of the Cold War. A Nazi nuclear scientist who
collaborated with the Unites States after the end of World War II has gone missing. His research
could fast track nuclear weapon making and therefore upset the uneasy balance that has held since
the end of the war. C.I.A. agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) is sent to collect the scientist s
estranged daughter, Gabby Teller (Alicia Vikander), from East Berlin to have her help locate her
father. KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) is sent on the same mission for the Soviet Union
, but fails to stop Napoleon and Gabby from escaping over the Berlin Wall. When it becomes clear
that the scientists is being held by an Italian criminal organization that were Nazi sympathizers, the
C.I.A. and KGB decide to run a joint operation with their top two spies to retrieve him in order to
ensure there is not another war. Gabby is brought along to help them infiltrate the organization

The film s opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife
and her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison
population and particularly the lifer Ellis Red Redding. It is his voice remembering the first
time he saw Andy ( looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over ), and predicting, wrongly, that
he wouldn t make it in prison. (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in
1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which Situational irony occurs
when we expect one thing to happen and something else does. (Goodykoontz, amp; Jacobs, 2011
Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank is about Andy, but it is but the story isn t through his own eyes, had
this film been through the eyes of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays
a large part in the situational irony because Red is our surrogate. He s the one we identify with,
and the redemption, when it comes, is Red s. We ve been shown by Andy s example that you

Throughout the passage it s shown that the diarist s society is no better than him as it s an
essential part of his insignificant life. This piece satirizes the superficiality and lackluster
carried in the bystander s life while looking at his daily routine and the minute details within his
diary. A tone of superficiality I carried out throughout the passage as the diarist reveals his
priorities as well as the issues his society deems of importance. Addison cultivates a tone in
which society is represented as lackluster and apathetic. Mr. Nisby accurately represents the
working class society. He used as a contrast of the society the diarist come from which is
ignorant and views issues such as the death of the Grand Vizier as another daily event which
holds no meaning for it doesn t affect him directly. An example of society s disregard to the
outside world is directed when a stranger asks the diarist for the stock prices. This shows how no
one cares about the Grand Vizier but only of the stock prices, as the stock prices affect their flow
of money which allows them to live this lackluster lifestyle they find comfort in. This goes to
show how the diarist employs a sense that the bystander society is selfish. Addison s passage
portrays society as ignorant and consumed in their daily affairs with no care about anyone or
anything unless it concern them. Addison s selection of minute detail employs that the diarist pays
much attention to his lackluster lifestyle and finds it important enough to be recorded. For
example his choice to focuses on insignificant details such as double soled shoes and nap broke by
the falling of a pewter dish implies the diarist cares too much about small things. This is immensely
satiric for the Grand Vizier, the prime minister of the Ottoman Empire, is dead but the diarist is too

Essay on What is the federal theatre project
What Was The Federal Theatre Project?????
Throughout the late 1920 s an important theatrical movement developed: The Workers Theatre
Movement. In the end, it diminished around the middle of the 1930 s, and one of the developments
aiding the decline of the Workers Theatre Movement, was the creation of the Federal Theatre Project
. The Federal Theatre Project was the largest and most motivated effort mounted by the Federal
Government to organize and produce theater events. Once the government took on the duty of
putting people to work, it was able to consider the movement. The Federal Theatre Project s
purpose was to provide relief work for theatrical artists that utilized their talents and to ... Show

The W. P. A., or Works Progress Administration
, was started in the year 1935 to provide jobs for
unemployed people in their areas of skill. Harry Hopkins headed this reform as well. There were
four art projects developed
for white collar workers: Music, Writers, and Theatre and Art. The four art projects spent less
than 3/4 of 1 percent of the total WPA budget, but were blamed and accused for being un
democratic and inefficient. The FTP was the most controversial and short lived of the Works
Progress Administration art projects. (www.answers.com) With its first production in the year
1936, The Federal Theatre Project remained in existence until the year 1939. It employed nearly
10,000 people per year on average; up to 12,000 people at it s highest. The Federal Theatre
Project provided 1200 productions as a minimum of 850 main works and of 309 innovative plays
(29 new musicals) to an audience estimated at 25 million people in 40 states. It also employed
actors, playwrights, directors, producers, composers, and technicians, including notables as Orson
Welles, Arthur Miller, John Huston, E. G. Marshall, and John Houseman. (Manning) The FTP gave
many Americans their first opportunity to attend live theater performances. It sent companies on
tour to smaller cities and also gave shows for younger audiences.

Deteriorating Patient Essay
Effective observation of patient is the first crucial phase to identify deteriorating patients and
apply effective measure to care for them (Mandy, Christina David, 2009). Nurse s role is taking
care of patients, supporting, and helping them recovery them from disease or any medical
condition they came with and improving their quality of lives and get, them back to community to
function as normal. However, not always things go efficiently as planned. Nurses work with other
multi disciplinary team to accomplish the goal. A nurse encounter load of temperamental cases
therefore Nurse has immense responsibility for recognizing and rescuing the deteriorating
patients. It s a challenging work, which comes with plenty of clinical experiences and great deal
of knowledge. This can be very overwhelming and intense at time. Not all the nurses are
experienced and know how to handle it. Decision making is very crucial to the time. Partial
experience and basic level knowledge can make it difficult to care for deteriorating patients.
Reporting the doctor about any concerns regarding any changes of the patients can resolve the
patients. The lack of communication between disciplinary teams and the nurses can be a cause for
untimely action taken for deteriorating patients. The verbal information given to the doctor can be
irrelevant sometimes. Hence, it s very crucial in a health setting to recognize the deteriorating
patients. In this paper I will be transcribing how can a nurse recognizes

Rome The Power And Glory Summary
The documentary Rome The Power Glory summaries the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, as well
as its origin within the ancient civilization of the Etruscans. As the main force in ancient
civilization, the documentary also describes the massive influence Rome had on future empires. It s
through the use of commentary, reenactment, artifacts, ruins, and surviving art that the successes
and failures of the Roman Empireare displayed within this documentary. Within the documentary
one of the most notable features is the evidence that Romehad politically impacted other world
powers like France during Napoleon Bonaparte s reign and the early years of the United States of
America. The French military leader and the self proclaimed descendant of Roman Emperors,
Napoleon, had an undeniable admiration for the Roman Empire even as he made his way to

The same would go for the founding fathers of the United States, who centuries after the fall of
the empire, would adopt one of Rome s greatest creations, the republic. Yet, the most obvious
influencer on France and the United States was Cincinnatus, who embodied the classical virtues
of Rome. Both Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington were inspired by the actions of
Cincinnatus s exemplary role as a political commander. This documentary, although very original
in its setup, is ideal in terms of its visuals and unbiased inclusion of all information pertaining to
Rome. The beginning starts with Napoleon invading an already weakened Rome, thus it doesn t
strictly follow chronological order as most documentaries do. Normally I find strictly organized
documentaries to be most effective, yet I find this setup to be very innovative. It s very impactful
to see the aftermath of the Roman Empire before its rise as the superpower of the ancient world. The

Why I Volunteer at the Children’s Hospital Essay
Before beginning my volunteer work I faced quite a dilema. Where could I influence children, help
them develop their leadership potential, educate them about agriculture, and have fun all at the
same time?
After a single telephone call to the Children s Hospital Volunteer Services Coordinators, I learned
that volunteers were readily accepted to serve within the hospital s recreational therapy deparment.
When they asked my reason for volunteering, I explained to them that I wanted to help the children
develop their leadership potential as well as other abilities. The members of volunteer services
seemed excited.

I then found that the patients were much more receptive to my ideas because I had showed them I

We began our activities with spaghetti flowers, which involved the use of spaghetti and (edible)

they enjoyed making marshmallow creatures and scenes just as much as everyone else. This
acitivity was designed to make everyone aware of the strengths which they possess, and I found that
many of the residents had artistic qualitites that set them apart from the rest! We followed this
activity with some creative time using color change markers. Everyone made name tags for their
doors, and some of them, being incredibly generous, made cards for their friends who were not in
the hospital that evening.
My second and third visits took place on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening was similar to
what I had experienced before, but everyone was distracted by all of the other games and
activities which were occurring simultaneously. Therefore, I only conducted a couple of activities
such as the beginnings of our stories Oh, The Places I ll Go! It was during this visit that I was
also able to introduce some of the children to my baby goats and to some dairy cows through
pictures. Many of the children had never been near farm aniamls before, and even though they
could not pet the picture, I think they enjoyed listening to my experiences. Since my

Describe The Differences Between Paul And Robinson s Life
The mill factories of the early 19th century are quite different from what we know and perceive
to be factory work today. One might be surprised initially that a girl would want to go to the
mills given the current perception of them, but in this time the mills were quite attractive
initially for many women. Mary Paul initially tried to find work as a domestic for a farming
family but after that failed, she moved to the mills in Lowell looking for work (Dublin 121).
Most women in the early 19th century didn t have opportunities to earn and income. Lowell was
such a unique place at this time as it provided women work for money and a chance to move of
their own accord to somewhere new. At Lowell, in addition to there being work, there was housing

Robinson worked when the mills were just opening and not many were around. The Erie Canal
was built in 1925, which greeting increased the speed of transportation from the Great Lakes to
New York, causing an influx of of people (Foner 329). Many new factories sprung up around it
as there was easy water access to the ports. Faster transportation from canals and railroads caused
an increase in the area factories could supply people with manufactured goods. Newly settled
western areas became states and opened up a market for more people needing goods (Foner 332
3).This created a second hub for factories away from Boston that was competing to sell their
goods. The area of where they sold their products began to overlap, creating a need to produce
faster and cheaper. The Embargo of 1807 that helped spur the factories initially continued to
contribute to the growth of new factories into the 1950 s (Foner 340). Even within Lowell other
factories began to pop up to account for increased demand in manufactured goods, as mentioned by
Mary Paul. The companies began to cut wages to compete which was coupled with another change

Feeling Like A Role Model
Feeling like a role model was an amazing sensation. Working as a customer experience
representative was emotionally validating in itself. Yet when combined with an audience, the work
became doubly fulfilling. In some ways, it boosted her self esteem and drove her to become the best
version of herself. She noticed that when her daily life was made transparent, her words and actions
became happier, more altruistic, and more intellectually interesting. She had been told that this
would be a positive effect of going transparent, but she had not anticipated other changes. She had
not anticipated that being transparent would actually redirect some of her less than perfect habits.
The camera s influence caused her to think more carefully about the way she presented herself.
When she thoughtof her viewers seeing her choices, she felt pressured to make healthy choices.
Thus, she abstained from sugary foods, and consumed socially acceptable levels of alcohol.
When she thought of the camera catching her consuming aspirin, she was ashamed of the image
that this might project and rerouted her behavior. Thus, she entered a life where she abstained
from the parts of her life that she found imperfect. Being watched was a way to curb bad
behavior. Mae found this freeing, and she was revered as a role model for this projected
perfection. This in turn gave Mae the responsibility of bringing light to the lives of her viewers.
This was a duty that kept her going day to day.

The importance of making it to appointments
There are several reasons that making it to appointments on time is important. It effects not just
the clinic itself but also effects every other department that is connected with it and the hospital
as a whole. Being a Soldier I am supposed to lead by example and I can t lead if I can t even show

This is poor team skills and I have then tarnished my reputation with my fellow coworkers.
Which then makes every day working a little harder because my coworkers then can not trust me
that I can get work done as they may need. Fourth of all, after causing the clinic and the
pharmacy to lose revenue, I then lose money for the hospital over all causing a flex in the budget
and they then would have to find other means of regaining what I have then caused them to lose
which means longer work hours for the military and possibly days off without pay for the
civilians. That then causes more stress to the already stressed out service members. Causing a
shift in the schedule that they currently have. Making them work more longer hours to try and get
back the money that they have lost by working a more stressful schedule like twelve hour shifts
and so on and so fourth. This also causes me and every one that has a family to then lose what
precious time that we have with our families. As it is we hardly get enough time with them and by
me being irresponsible, I cause them to lose even more time then they should have. This is unfair to
everyone around me which is something that needed careful consideration, but none of these effects

Pros And Cons Of Merit Pay
Merit Pay The controversy of the merit pay system has been a highly contentious discussion in the
field of education, most notably in my school district. As stated in the Education Commission of
the United States, merit pay is pay for performance where a teacher s compensation is tied to the
performance in the classroom (2010). While merit pay for classroom teachers has been around for
decades, it is increasingly becoming an issue around the country. As seen in my district, the issue
has become a non negotiable topic as the district is negotiating a new contract with the teacher s
union. The district s proposal to include it in the new contract in order to improve student outcomes,
attract new, highly qualified teachers to the district, and retain the proficient teachers already
employed in the schools. The political influence increased when President Barack Obama
introduced the Race to the Top Initiative. As stated in Howell Magazinnik, the Race to the Top
Initiative was created to stimulate the adoption of educationreforms in the state governments of
education (2017). The debate has been ongoing surrounding the pros and cons of merit pay with
both supporters and opposition. The merit pay system will continue to have legal implications for
schoolleaders as it impacts the rights of teachers, but the impact on student achievement. I support
merit pay as it is prescribed to tie teacher performance to pay increases.

South Carolina Dbq Questions And Answers

outstanding neighborhood in America. It seems to be a good vacation spot, well it would surprise
people to know that South Carolinawas once a place where some settlers were trying to settle on the
land, but a couple of things kept the settlers from settling on the rich land. Geography, resources,

When the first settlers landed on south carolina they were limited with resources. When settlers
came they described the land as flat and woody which means covered in trees as it is stated in
Document B, James Glen, A Description of south Carolina, 1761, the land of South Carolina for
a hundred or a hundred and fifty miles back is flat and woody; intersected with many large
rivers, some of which rise out of the out of the Cherokee Mountains. The land made finding a
place to settle hard because it was hard to reach. After they settled or somewhat of settled the
diversity of the soil made it tough to grow food, soil like clay, loam, and marl were hard to
distinguish. Clay is a type of soil that does not help plants grow or can grow plant, loam is like
clay but with sand and silt, but silt is like a fertilizer that helps plants grow .The diversity of the
lands soil made it difficult for the settlers to identify the type of soil like clay, loam, and marl. The
lands of savannah was also cleared by indians and did not produce any trees. The land they wanted
to settle on was filled with dangerous creatures of nature. These creatures include Panthers,
Tigers, wolves, and other dangerous animals, which in a cause of this became dangerous at night,
and day.
There was another reason South Carolina was hard to settle on, it s because to diseases.
Diseases like the small poxs were what damaged the population and reduced it to not that much
people. Then the settlers decided to settle in South carolina, they were mat with a violent kind of
small pox rages in Charles Town. As it is stated in Document E The Letterbook of Eliza Lucas

Of Discovery In Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening, And...
Discoveries may compel individuals to affirm or challenge their perspective on themselves and
the wider world. This idea of discovery offering new understandings and renewed perceptions of
ourselves and others is reflected in the poem, Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening by Robert

s poetry
reflects an enduring interest in how landscape can evoke contemplation and reflection about one s

Similarly, in The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator s lack of self expression and intellectual

Open Pits In Canada
Open Pits The very first open pit mines that were built in the world started around when men began
to develop tools and constructing massive stone monuments to their gods. They were known as
quarries. Quarries are open pit mines that produce building materials and dimension stone, such as
granite, marble, limestone, and other tangible rockbuilding materials. However, these open pit
mines produced little to no pollution at all because the technology to extract every last gram of
ore from rack has not been developed. The process basically involves pulverizing every rock that
comes out of a mine with any trace of ore within it. This produces what is known as tailings.
Tailings are one of the biggest pollutants of the world to date. They are so toxic that they have to

official neutrality policy that dated back to the days of George Washington and joined the Allied
powers. U.S. support would prove to be enough of a boost to strike down the Central Powers attack,
and it also signaled America s entrance into the peace negotiations that followed.
During a speech to Congress while the war was still going on, President Woodrow Wilson
introduced his Fourteen Points, which called for a new Europe and a peaceful world. Ideas
expressed in the speech included a policy of open diplomacy with no secret treaties, freedom of
the seas, removal of tariffs, arms reduction, fair colonial policies, as well as several boundary
changes in Europe. But most important of all was point fourteen. This item called for a general
association of nations for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence
and territorial integrity to great and small states alike. This association, which would come to be
known as the League of Nations, was conceived by the idealistic Wilson to keep the peace after
the war and to promote open diplomacy between countries of varying types of size and power. In
order to maintain peace the league was to be given the authority to impose economic sanctions
against offending states, and it

Henry V And Saint Joan
In both the plays, Henry V and Saint Joan, the treacherous battle between the French and the
English is taking place, and both characters claim to be the answer to their country s problems.
In the end, both end up being great leaders, but getting their titles took slightly different
challenges due to their genders. Throughout the plays Henry and Joan were treated and viewed
differently by their people because Henry was a guy, who is seen to be more trustworthy, and
Joan is a girl, and is not meant for being in a battle, and especially not for leading one. In the play
Saint Joan, Joan is treated significantly different due to her gender of being a female. She is left
constantly defending and proving herself to the leaders of France. For example... Show more

In Scene 1 of Saint Joan, and in Act IV scene 3 of Henry v, both Henry and Joan both appeal to
ethos to try to persuade their men and leaders to trust them, and to get them to understand that
they will be great leaders if those people can put their trust into their hands. For example in Act
four scene three of Henry V, Henry states, By Jove, I am not covetous for gold Nor care I who
doth feed upon my cost; It yearns me not if men my garments wear; Such outward things dwell I
my desires (line 26 29). Henry is trying to appeal to his men to go into battle with everything
they have. He is going to stand next to them and show them that he s just like them, and that he
will be next to him, because he s one of them. In Scene 1 of the play Saint Joan, Joan is trying to
get Robert to trust her and states, Please do, squire. The horse will cost sixteen francs. It is a
good deal of money: but I can save it on the armor. I can find a soldier s armor that will fit me
well enough: I am very hardy; and I do not need beautiful armor made to my measure like you
wear. I shall not want many soldiers: the Dauphin will give me all I need to raise the siege of
Orleans (Saint Joan). Joan is also appealing to ethos because she knows the only way that she will
get what she wants is for the men to trust her, and believe that what she is saying is the

The Common Man In Bolt s A Man For All Season
In the play, A Man for All Season, Bolt narrates the play through use of The Common Man. The
Preface of A Man for All Season, states that the play is not a straight forward narration, though
more comparable to a poem. (Bolt, 1960:xvii). The Common Man comments on the action and
characters in numerous asides as well as change costume on stage and indicates the locations. The
asides extend the idea that The Common man s moral character is not so detached from society
s, by removing himself from the actions he is able to conveniently disassociates himself from
More s supposed treasonous acts. This is portrayed in the following lines I d let him out if I could

In the beginning of the play, Iago confesses I am not what I am (Shakespeare, 2003:I.i.66).
Hampton Reeves (2010:37) argues that Iago is the self proclaimed narrator of Othello, however,
the most unreliable narrator to date. Iago s substantial use of asides also reveals his cleverness;
he is able to not only direct but also to remark on the action of the play. Iago speaks his
soliloquies before Othello, this draws the audience into his point of view. Iago s use of
soliloquies supports his power of words. Shakespeare forces the audience to connive with the
villain when he addresses the audience. We see Othello through Iago s narration. The opposition
between Iago and Othello supports the idea of a foreign moor being positioned higher than a
white Venison. When taking into consideration the point of view established by Iago, it is clear
that Shakespeare was highly influenced by the global controversy over racial differences and
origin during the Renaissance (Vaughan, 1996:5). As Iago is undeniably jealous of Othello his
narrative point of view cannot be trusted as it is based on a subjective vendetta that he manifested
in his words and actions towards

Carl Sandburg Research Papers
On January 6, 1878 Carl Sandburg was born in Illinois in a cottage situated near the railroad
tracks. He was born on top of a corn husk mattress, to his father and mother; August and Clara
Sandburg. Both August and Clara were Swedish immigrants. Carl s father disliked and
discouraged his interest in books while his mother heavily encouraged reading and his education.
Sandburg s life was an epic story that included him being a hobo and working a large variety of
jobs. Carl dropped out of school during the eighth grade and immediately started working. He spent

newspaper business and obtained an interest in the newspaper field. His father bought him free

years. His first visit that June planted the seed of his poetic vision, and made him the poet he

interests that would create the foundation of his work. After returning from Chicago Carl said, I m

The Tungurahua Volcano
Introduction As our world grows and the population grows, more and more people find themselves
living in disaster prone areas. The vulnerability of these peoples is often due to their lack of
knowledge about the potential risks in the area. As these settlements become larger, the more
imbedded into the surrounding area it becomes. In this paper we will look at the communities that
surround the Tungurahua volcanoin Ecuador. Specifically, evaluating how the emergency
management system operates and functions to provide support to these vulnerable communities.
Volcanic eruptions typically cause an immediate chaotic response and a sound emergency
management system is critical during this type of disaster. In the case of the Tungurahua volcano it
has been active for many years, sometimes only producing minor pyroclastic flows, but is has been
known to erupt violently. This presents a unique environment, in which, the emergency services
and surrounding communities have become accustom to. A unique aspect of communities that live
in the shadow of the Tungurahua volcano is the resilience they have to thrive under impending
disaster. Most of these communities have adapted well to the risks posed by the volcano. To get a
better understanding of why the people in this region of Ecuador have not moved on, we must
review its history. This will be the first area of research for this paper followed by the evaluation of
emergency services to the surrounding communities. A critical

overall marginal performance of Vodacom has increased as Vodacom s ability to produce profit
from revenue has increased. 17. The major source of Vodacom s revenue is cash sales from
customers. 18. The group s share capital is the same as the company s because at acquisition, the
investment that the company paid to acquire its subsidiaries was replaced by a share capital
which is shown on both the group and company s financial statements. 19. None of the resources
used by the business are subject to leases. Financial/operating leases would be an expense shown
on the statement of comprehensive income and there is no such line item represented. The
difference between a finance and operating lease is that a finance lease agreement is one in

Characteristics Of The Best Restaurant Essay
What Makes a Restaurant the Best: Best Restaurants
Waiting forever just to taste insatiable food for gratuitous reasons,is what everybody hates. Last
time I went to the Chopstick House, the service was terrible, in fact the waitress only came over to
our table when we first got there and to give us our food. To makes things worse when my food
arrived it tasted like deep fried plastic. Due to this, all restaurants should have certain characteristics
in order to be the best.
In particular, the feature that make a restaurant a great restaurant is when one leaves the restaurant
stuffed every time. One restaurant is Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse is a steakhouse where an
individual can pick however many ounces of steak they deem necessary. This quality tempted me
to trump the amount of ounces that I got the last time, but every time the I get to the last few
ounces I have to tap out. The fact that they want to beat themselves is not all of it, but the fact that
the steak is so juicy they can t stop eating it. So it leaves them maxed out by the time they leave.
Another great restaurant is Blaze pizza. Blaze pizza is a build your own pizza place where
anyone can pick their own toppings all the way down to the dough. The reason one will leave
this place stuffed is because of the unique taste of the pizza being cooked over flames, instead of
the stove. The pizza being personal pizza size makes it seem manageable, but really the pizza is
pretty big and by the time someone gets to

Business Line Model Of Nordstrom
Strength The diverse business line model that Nordstrom applies gives them a competitive edge
over their competitors. Unlike many of their competitors, Nordstrom operates in several retail
categories such as: clothing, furniture, bedding, footwear, beauty products, jewelry, house wear and
cafes (Nordstrom Inc, n.d). Operating in multi retail categories gives consumers an incentive to
shop at their shop, over the competitors because the consumer can satisfy all their specific needs
and wants in one store instead of having to visit several. The divergent product line also broadens
Nordstroms target market by offering different products that attract new market segments and reach
the different demographic and purchasing needs of each consumer. Nordstrom s wide product
range helped them to increase their Total Revenue in the 3 quarter 2014 by 8.88 % year on year,
while most of its competitors have experienced contraction in revenues by 0.17 % (CSI Market,

Hinduism is considered one of the oldest surviving religion on Earth. With over one billion people

consists of many different languages and traditions, but most of the beliefs remain constant

Along with the temples and beliefs of individuals, the main vehicle that preserved Hinduism in
other regions around the world has a lot to do with the sacred Sanskrit texts and various
languages. During the first week of going to the temple in Cherry Hill, I was handed a thick
looking binder. As I opened it up, there were multiple parts of prayers. The first was a morning
ritual, which consisted of ways to pray and meditate in the mornings. The other sections were
specifically for the Sundays that I visited there. The first part was the Aarti, followed by the Dhun,
Stuti, and lastly Prarthna. The printed pages came directly from the website they have up for this
specific temple. The website was used to inform newcomers, as well keep the older members well
informed about upcoming events, opportunities, and holidays. Writing is what keeps many of the
beliefs in check. The writings in different forms is what protect and upholds many of the customs

The Impact Of The Spanish Conquest Of Mexico
The Spanish Conquest of Mexico and the Aztec people started when HernГЎn CortГ©s led the
Spanish conquistadors to TenochtitlГЎn and conquered the Aztec Empire in 1519. The Spaniards
had gunpowder, dogs, horses, and armor that would help fight against the Azteca. The Native
Americans wanted to only wound their enemies with their woodened clubs tipped and sharp
obsidian that was powerful enough to smash the Spaniard s helmets. The use of the double bladed
swords helped the Spaniards fight close combat with the Indians. As soon as their chief died the
Azteca would back down. Not only did the weapons cause a huge impact on the Aztecbut also the
spread of diseases such as smallpoxthat were carried by the Europeans affected the population. After
conquering the Indians, the intensions of the Spanish in Mexico was to spread their beliefs about
Christianity, find gold and use them as slaves. In drastic ways the Spaniards changed the native
communities, for instance plagues spread throughout the whole country side after the defeat of
TenochtitlГЎn. Smallpox, measles, and influenza were the outbreaks that hit urban cities the
hardest. In 1520 1521 an outbreak of smallpox caused thousands to die because Azteca medicine
was not affective against these diseases. The second outbreak occurred in 1531 and it was
smallpox again but combined with measles and the third wave of the disease lasted from 1576 to
1581 killing 300,000 to 400,000 of the Aztec population. The Native Americans did not

The Bombing Of Japan With Nuclear War Heads
Mahatma Gandhi said, Be the change you want to see in the world, the bombing of Japan with
nuclear war heads was in no way a good deed, but was it entirely evil? And was the fallout from
the bombing itself, or rather the events leading up to and immediately after, worth it, or are we
truly to be judge by our last worst act? In the eyes of many the US is a terroristic nation, but why
do we take on the lion s share of the blame for this incredible, truly terrible and horrific, but
incredible act? Built in 1942, the Boing B 29 Superfortress became one of the world s most
famous and infamous aircraft when it dropped the world s first nuclear bomb. It was crewed by
twelve, the Commander and most famous of these men was Colonel Paul Tibbets, whose mother,
Enola Gay Tibbets, will forever be linked to the single most catastrophic act of war the world has
ever known. It was the Enola Gay that dropped a little boy on the city of Hiroshima, Japan in an
attempt to force Japan into an unconditional surrender, ending to the Second World War. Two
brilliant physicists were ultimately responsible for the establishment of the nuclear bomb program
within the US, Albert Einstein and Enrico Fermi, each were European Scientists that had fled war
bound fascist nations, Germany (Einstein) and Italy (Fermi). Both men were absolutely convinced

Document # 1 was a comparison of the degree of literacy in France between the seventeenth and

Document # 3:
In document # 3, literacy in France was examined by social groups and classes; the dates
compared were again 1680 and 1789, i.e. French Absolutism as opposed to the days of the French
Revolution. Overall, three social groups were examined. The first groups were the nobles and
professionals: interestingly enough, these two groups were on opposite sides at the time of the
French Revolution. Whereas the vast majority of the powerful nobility mostly sided with the
Ancien Regime, resisted attempts to reform, and defended its privileges, the highly educated
bourgeoisie became revolutionary when it realized that political representation of its vested
interests was not possible in Old Regime France, and political change was prevented by the First
and Second Estate. Only then did the bourgeoisie desire to overthrow the French medieval state and
replace it with a modern state that would truly represent the interests of the French bourgeoisie.
In 1680, ninety five percent of French male aristocrats were literate, and that number would not
have changed by 1789. In 1680, sixty percent of French aristocratic women could read and write,
and by 1789 up to eighty five percent of French noblewomen had become literate. These numbers
were identical with the literacy rate of the French bourgeoisie, both men and women,

The Cultural Progression Of Latin America Essay
Latin America has had a very complex history since being colonized by Spain, aside from Brazil, to
its current sociopolitical movements. Unfortunately, Latin America s cultural progression did not
spread and blossom as fast as other countries because they were colonized by the retrograded
country of Spain. Due to the general conservatism in Iberian culture, Spain being the cause of that,
Latin America did not follow the steps towards modernity, unlike French colonized countries. After
the colonization period, Latin America spent its time conserving Spanish culture. The Iberian
Peninsula culture did not have the same opening into the modernity that France had. It wasn t until
the 1880 s through the 1910 s that modernismo , an anti nationalist literary movement, arose within
Latin America itself, making it a homegrown movement. Modernismo was the rejuvenation of the
Spanish language and its literature. Modernismo s literature boom allowed for the growth of other
literature movements including that magical realism movement. Influenced by the European
surrealism movement, authors such as Alejo Carpentier and Miguel ГЃngel Asturias started writing
magical realism in the 1920 s and 30 s. magical realism reached it s peak in Latin America in the
1940 s through 1950 s. During this era, political ideologies such as communism and socialism rose.
Marxismwas a major contribution and was widely studied by the educated citizens of Latin
America. There are many parallels between Marxist

  • 2. The Reality Of Evil Within Us Agata Czawa Ms. Walker ENG 3U1 01 November 20, 2015 The Reality of Evil Within Us In the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Marlow, the Lawyer, the Doctor and the Accountant voyage down to Africa from London to assist the Europeans with their mission to rule the Natives and discover ivory. This roots one to assume to being in a day dream where it s amazing as if you were having the time of your life than all of a sudden hell drops and you die resulting in a constant one s life. The complexity of inadequate regularity results in a fading reality, in which deaths and complications arise and cause evil to take root within humans. The lack of deviation in the novel Heart of Darkness results in a reality fading for Marlow. I felt often its mysterious stillness watching me at my monkey tricks, just as it watches you fellows performing on your respective tight ropes for what is it? Half a crown a tumble try to be civil, Marlow (Conrad 42). Marlow is forgetting his old regularity in London because he is being taken over by Africa s constant which is dark, and violent, and is referred to as the heart of darkness . As a result, Marlow becomes attached to the heart of darkness, which can cause a dilemma when he returns to London because it will constantly remind him of horrors that he witnessed. Marlow was aware that his gasp on reality was weakening and thus, felt the need to remind himself to be civil. They would have been more impressive; those heads on the ... Tolkien was the professor of Anglo Saxon (Old English) at the University of Oxford, and he also wrote stories, including The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954 1955); the setting is in a prehistorical time in his inventive world called by the Middle English name of Middle earth (Doughan). This was lived by Men and Women, Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, Orcs and Hobbits. He has been condemned by the Eng. Lit. establishment, but loved by the vast masses (Doughan). There are some specific and significant events in his childhood and youth that will influence on his works in the future, such as name, family, education, etc. His name Tolkien is from the German Tollkiehn; in origin, the name is a compound of toll meaning mad and kuhn meaning brave , and so meaning foolhardy. His nave also can refer to someone unwisely bold or someone who displays courage and initiative in face of overwhelming odds (Grotta 15); he occasionally used the pseudonym Oxymore (Doughan). His father s side of the family migrated from Saxony in the 18th century, but about in the first half century before his birth had become Anglicized. His father, Arthur Reuel Tolkien, was a bank clerk, and went to South Africa in the 1890s for better opportunity of promotion. P-Nitrophenol Lab Report Enzymes Georgia Canfield Bio 4811.01 Shazia Ahmed October 11,2017 ABSTRACT Our class designed an experiment in order to test the ability of the enzyme cellobiase to break down cellobiose, in order to produce p nitrophenol when certain factors were changed including temperature, pH, and inhibitor concentration as well as a change in concentration in the enzyme and substrate. A baseline experiment was established and absorbances were taken in order to determine the concentration of p nitrophenol in each scenario. We then took these calculations in order to then calculate Vo, inhibitor, enzyme and substrate concentration to produce a graph. • 5. Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling, relentless, ferocious, and aggressive. ... • 6. Official Age To Start Working Paper Why is 14 the official age to start working? Why can t it be 12? I think that if people younger than 14 wanted to get a job then they should be able to. The age to get working papers should be moved from 14 to a younger age. First of all, it would let kids work if they want to. Some kids are very mature for their age and want to work. If the age was lowered then kids that aren t very mature will become more mature. Lowering the age will also build character. They will realize how hard their parents work and this will make them more grateful and they will want to work harder. This is one of the reasons I think the age should be lowered. Also, lowering the age to start working will help families who need money. A lot of families need extra money and with another person working it could help. They could save money earlier for college or for a car. By the time they will be able to get a job they ll already be driving and they won t have money to buy a car because they don t have money saved. Working will make them feel better about themselves. It will make them feel proud that they are saving money and working hard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As we see in Anthony Doerr s novel, All the Light We Cannot See, in all times; doubt, pain, triumph, anger, or even happiness, we must always have love. To begin, we must always have love because it gives us courage. We see this when some Russian men enter the house containing the main character s sister, Jutta, three other girls, and their mother figure, Frau Elena. Frau Elena says, Stay calm and they won t shoot. I ll make sure to go first. After that they ll be gentler (Doerr 490). It may have seemed selfish to Jutta at the time, but in his heart, he truly did leave out of love. The people we love don t always understand our actions, but love keeps us on the track of morality. • 11. Basic Forms Of Business Organization Three basic forms of business organization are sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. Sole proprietorship is the simplest form of business organization in which there is only one owner (Cheeseman, 2015, p. 570). Single person is responsible for all debts, liabilities, and obligations, as well as unlimited liability for business operations. If the owner is unsuccessful and acquires debt, creditors can pursue legal action and acquire access to personal bank accounts, real estate, and other assets by the court order to repay person s debt obligations. Owners of sole proprietorships cannot raise capital by selling shares that represent stakeholder interest in the business. The owner reports all income and expenses in personal tax return. The business terminates upon withdrawal or an owner s death. The owner can sell the business and by doing so, will lose the ownership. Advantages of sole proprietorship include freedom of decisions, tax breaks, ease to start, ownership of all profits, being taxed once as a personal income of the owner, and lack of government compliance. Disadvantages of sole proprietorship include unlimited liability, very limited sources of production, and difficulty to raise capital. According to Cheeseman (2015), general partnership is an association of two or more persons to carry on as co owners of a business for profit (p. 572). The Chacoans were a civilization that lasted from the 800s to the 1100s and were living across New Mexico. They were an agricultural society that their main food source were the three sisters, corn, beans, and squash. They also supplemented their diet with any animals they could catch. Their inseparable bond helps them survive the harshness and cruelty of their lives. However, wealthy Edgar Linton is in love with her as well, and Catherine must choose between them. Cathy sacrifices her future with Heathcliffso that she can marry Edgar Linton. Cathy is shown to appreciate having expensive things and acting like the Lintons. Instead of a wild, hatless little savage jumping into the house, and rushing to squeeze us all breathless, there lighted from a handsome black pony a very dignified person, with brown ringlets falling from the cover of a feathered beaver, and a long cloth habit, which she was obliged to hold up with both hands that she might sail in. • 15. Insoluble Concentration Silver sulfadiazine may displace the hydrogen bonds within the bacterial DNA. Once these bonds that serve to connect the 2 strands of the DNA double helix are displaced, bacterial replication and cell viability are effectively reduced. Mammalian cells have approximately 100 times more DNA than bacterial cells. Thus, the ratio of inhibitory concentrations of silver sulfadiazine to bacterial DNA is high enough to prevent bacterial division. However, the resulting ratio of silver sulfadiazine to epithelial DNA is sufficiently low that epithelial cell regeneration is not impaired. As silver sulfadiazine (AgSd) is relatively insoluble it reacts very slowly with the chloride components of tissue exudates to form silver chloride (AgCl) and sodium sulfadiazine (NaSd). Sodium sulfadiazine thus formed being a structural analog and competitive antagonists of para aminobenzoic acid(PABA), prevent normal bacterial utilization of PABA for the synthesis of folic acid (pteroylglutamic acid) which is required for the synthesis of various precursors of DNA and RNA like thymidine... What Is The Mood Of The Poem My Love By Lowell Analysis There is Lowell, who s striving Parnassus to climb With a whole bale of isms tied together with rhyme ; He might get on alone, spite of brambles and boulders But he can t with that bundle he has on his shoulders ; В… Fable for Critics, Lowell James Russell Lowell was a father and a husband, but most importantly he was a man of literature. Lowell s works were greatly influenced by those around him, events during his time, and events in his personal life. In it, Lowell writes about how much he loves this woman and how perfect and awesome her love is. He talks about how selfless and fair she is, how kind and wide her heart is, and how she is a blessing to be with. The mood of this poem is cheerful and appreciative. Summer Storm is about the feeling of everything before a storm, what it s like to be in a storm, and the calm a storm has when it parts. Lowell uses so much imagery in this piece that it makes the reader feel like they are in the storm. Another poem by Lowell is called The Moon, he compares the moon to his soul. The tone of this poem is very sad, angry, and lonely. It seemed like his personal tragedies may have prompted him to write this piece. Lastly, there is Song, which is about a fair bud of a lily. The sun, wind, and rain take care of it and it grows into a beautiful woman flower, but sadly and suddenly it is struck by death during the process of its growth. One may inquire that this poem may have been prompted by one of his person tragedies. Most of Lowell s works were effected by the joyful and the tragic events that were afoot in his life. There have been two major types of game series: the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and the College Football Playoffs (CFP). The BCS was introduced to have the best teams in the nation voted to secure spots in bowl games, determining who is the best team of that year. The CFP let all games in the regular season help a team reach the playoffs and play in the championship game to be declared the NCAA champions. Although many people claim that the CFP s are the best option for the NCAA, many people argue that the BCS is the better choice to conclude the footballseason, which leads to think if the change to the CFP was the right choice. This form of post season was instituted in 1998 to provide non typical match ups and determine the best teams in the NCAA. This did not always work because the teams were also determined by a vote. I never saw the original television series, so I went into the movie theater with no idea what to expect. The movie is set in the 1960s, during the height of the Cold War. A Nazi nuclear scientist who collaborated with the Unites States after the end of World War II has gone missing. His research could fast track nuclear weapon making and therefore upset the uneasy balance that has held since the end of the war. The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in 1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which Situational irony occurs when we expect one thing to happen and something else does. (Goodykoontz, amp; Jacobs, 2011 Ch. 2.4). • 20. Superficiality And Significance Of Life In Joseph... Lackluster Days In the passage from The Spectator, English satirist, Joseph Addison depicts through a diarist the superficiality and insignificance of life in a bystander society created by wealth. His satiric purposes is unveiled as through reading the diary of a bland man who is a product of a privileged society he conveys the pettiness of the issues they are concerned with. Throughout the passage it s shown that the diarist s society is no better than him as it s an essential part of his insignificant life. This piece satirizes the superficiality and lackluster carried in the bystander s life while looking at his daily routine and the minute details within his diary. A tone of superficiality I carried out throughout the passage as the diarist reveals his priorities as well as the issues his society deems of importance. Addison cultivates a tone in which society is represented as lackluster and apathetic. Mr. Nisby accurately represents the working class society. He used as a contrast of the society the diarist come from which is ignorant and views issues such as the death of the Grand Vizier as another daily event which holds no meaning for it doesn t affect him directly. An example of society s disregard to the outside world is directed when a stranger asks the diarist for the stock prices. This shows how no one cares about the Grand Vizier but only of the stock prices, as the stock prices affect their flow of money which allows them to live this lackluster lifestyle they find comfort in. This goes to show how the diarist employs a sense that the bystander society is selfish. Addison s passage portrays society as ignorant and consumed in their daily affairs with no care about anyone or anything unless it concern them. Addison s selection of minute detail employs that the diarist pays much attention to his lackluster lifestyle and finds it important enough to be recorded. For example his choice to focuses on insignificant details such as double soled shoes and nap broke by the falling of a pewter dish implies the diarist cares too much about small things. This is immensely satiric for the Grand Vizier, the prime minister of the Ottoman Empire, is dead but the diarist is too wrapped up with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mary Paul initially tried to find work as a domestic for a farming family but after that failed, she moved to the mills in Lowell looking for work (Dublin 121). Most women in the early 19th century didn t have opportunities to earn and income. For instance in basketball, to ensure that girls maintain proper decorum, they were forbidden from snatching the ball and dribbling it more than three times in row. Unfortunately, Latin America s cultural progression did not spread and blossom as fast as other countries because they were colonized by the retrograded country of Spain. Due to the general conservatism in Iberian culture, Spain being the cause of that, Latin America did not follow the steps towards modernity, unlike French colonized countries. After the colonization period, Latin America spent its time conserving Spanish culture. The Iberian Peninsula culture did not have the same opening into the modernity that France had. It wasn t until the 1880 s through the 1910 s that modernismo , an anti nationalist literary movement, arose within Latin America itself, making it a homegrown movement. Modernismo was the rejuvenation of the Spanish language and its literature. Modernismo s literature boom allowed for the growth of other literature movements including that magical realism movement.
