The World Trade Organization Or Wto
Meaning of the Term Round
The World Trade Organization or WTO is a large group of countries formed in January of 1995
and comprised of about 165 countries, replacing GATT. According to the WTO s website
describes itself as a forum for governments to negotiate trade agreements, . . . a place for them to
settle trade disputes, . . . operates a system of trade rules ( Who We Are, 2016). The WTO is a
place where the governments of member countries try to sort out and develop problems that
countries may have with one another. Every so often a problem with trade takes place that requires
large amounts of negotiations before establishing new rules and policies. When large amounts of
negotiations are needed the WTO enters into a Round. Each round helps to set a new standard of
trade.
History of Round Sessions
The Doha Round is not the first round to take place. A total of eight rounds have taken place, with
the Doha Round currently taking place. Each round taking place with a different amount of
countries, for different lengths of time, and for different reasons. The first round took place in
Geneva, Switzerland in April of 1947 under GATT. At the first round in Geneva 23 countries meet
to approve the signing of GATT and 45,000 tariff concessions. The last completed round that took
place was the Uruguay Round. The Uruguay round took a little over 7 years to complete and saw
123 countries agreeing on the creation of the WTO and major reductions in agricultural subsidies

Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning By The First Amendment
Depicting on whether the flag burning is protected by the First Amendment the answer would
be no while reading this particular article and evidence stated. Yes there will continuously be
pros and cons of the situation in regards to the flag; because of various individual values.
Therefore the court believes the flag is a symbol a representation of its special role to society
and political reasoning, there will be some people who do not agree with but none deserve to be
punished because of their own personal beliefs. There came a point where burning the flag in
private would be an okay to do so. It is now clearly outweighed with the simple fact of having the
highest courts prohibit public burning of the flag on grounds. They would rather articulate

Causes Of Death For Men And Women During The United States
One of the leading causes of death for men and women in the United States can be attributed to
Coronary Artery Disease. In the medical world, treatments are ever changing and improving the
chance of survival from this disease. One such treatment, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
with stent placement, is now used in more than 80% of CAD cases with an exceedingly high
success rate (http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/161446 overview). With any procedure, there
is a number of tools at the doctor s fingertips, and a new experimental technology in the stent world
has risen with temporary bio absorbable stents. The following document will briefly explain the
procedure and their use in percutaneous coronary intervention.

Such contraindications could be an intolerance to long term antiplatelet therapy or significant
conditions leading to a reduced lifespan in the patient. If there is a lack of cardiac surgical support
or the artery has suffered less than 50% or complete occlusion, the procedure may be voided. The
patient also must not have received a bypass graft to the left anterior descending artery. (http:/
/www.merckmanuals.com/professional/cardiovascular disorders/cardiovascular tests and

patients suffer from diabetes and coronary artery disease or have left main disease without collateral
flow and a high Syntax score. (http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/ 161446 overview).
As with any medical procedure, risks are taken into precaution when preforming a Percutaneous
Coronary Intervention. Complications generally arise from three types: contrast administration,
catheter/tool related issues, and access site situations (bleeding, hematoma, limb ischemia, etc.) A
patient may have an allergic reaction to the contrast media administered of which there is a course
of action to counteract the reaction with diphenhydramine, albuterol, or epinephrine. Contrast
nephropathy, one of the highest risks of PCI, is presented as an insufficiency of the renal system
clearing the blood. This risk can be reduced by using

The Importance Of Playing Basketball
Basketball is my passion and it makes me happy that I decided to continue playing. However,
there was a time when I was thinking about not playing again due to an awful experience I had
while playing basketball my senior year of high school. I have soon come to realize that not all
coaches are the same, for example, my high schoolbasketballcoachis very different to my college
basketball coach, especially when it comes to their coaching styles and attitudes towards their
players and coaching staff.
It is easily said that playing basketball my senior year of high school was my least favorite
season. The season was my least favorite, not because of my teammates, but due to the head
coach. He only designed plays to showcase our point guard, who is the person that calls the plays
that we run on the court. He also had the coaching style where things were either his way or you
did not play. For instance, if someone, other than our point guard, were to receive a pass and
was wide open for a shot, he would yell at them because they were not meant to shoot the ball in
that play. However, in the other coaches and players eyes it would seem pointless for them to not
take the chance and shoot the ball, especially if they are wide open. One could make the
assumption that he was focused more on the guards than on the group as a whole, but my college
coach is nothing like that.
I may have only been playing ball in college for one month, but I can say with great confidence that

Houston Fire Department Report
Introduction
The world is changing every single day. The communities change and so do the community
services. This paper looks at what the future looks like for Houston Fire Department. The discussion
looks at the situation in the past, at the moment and tries to forecast the future Fire Department. In
order to project how the department will look like in the next twenty years, it is important to take
stock of past developments in the firefighting industry in general and Houston Fire Department in
specific.
Discussion
There are several positive advancements that have been realized in fire emergency response over
time. Benchmarking on the current status, the Houston Fire Department is likely to evolve in three
key areas. First, technological advancement. At the moment, Project Ethan has brought a revolution
in emergency response service. Project Ethan has been rolled out across the firehouses in the city.
Project Ethan is a solution where people used video chats to communicate with medical doctors on
emergencies and receive emergency care services. At the moment, referrals are made between
10am and 6pm on weekdays. From the trends seen with this product, many people are adopting this
technology. As a matter of fact, there is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The department has evolved over time in terms of the service it renders to the public. The
traditional fire department was merely concerned with extinguishing fire and fire related response.
Today, the fire department offers more than just fire accident response. This paradigm shift will
progress into the future. The Houston Fire Department will shift to offer comprehensive emergency
response services as opposed to fire incident management alone. In this endeavor, there are likely
partnerships with insurance agencies, education institutions for capacity building and medical
institutions (Bratina, Greenberg, Pasteur Grotta,

Hubble Space Telescope
The Universe is something that has been explored for years and years. Over time, our
understandings and beliefs on the Universe and our world has changed due to new technologies
and discoveries. The Big Bang Theory is one example of an concept that is actively believed
within the scientific community and has been made well known in our world today. This theory,
which can be used to explain the origin and age of our universe, has been refined over the years
through a reviewing process in the scientific community as more discoveries came in due to new
technological advancements.
Put simply, the Big Bang theory is most supported and believed theory on how the Universe began.
It essentially states that we began as a small singularity and over ... Show more content on

The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope that was launched into space in 1990, April 24th. Its
primary function was to take pictures of stars, planets, moons, galaxies, etc. This type of
telescope is different from a telescope such as the Hooker Telescope as it is in space, rather than
on Earth, and was used for different things. Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope
has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous
theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of
galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was
very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The
Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars
with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars
would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For
example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable
was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the
Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this
observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is
from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope,
scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75
billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe
as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe.
To sum up, the Hubble Space Telescope is an important piece of

Benefits Of A Fatigue Management Program Essay
Our company has operated as the leader in our industry for a long time. We have since fallen
behind in regards to our competitors in that, we have not implemented a fatigue management
program. The proposed program will operate at a significant loss ($1.5 million in the first year)
with an annual drop in costof 10 12%. The cost of the program past year five will be $900,000.
With that being said, the possibility of lowering our liability in terms of potential incidents in the
future significantly outweighs the associated costsof our program. Overall, pilots and supervisors
have a positive outlook on the implementation of a fatigue management program. In addition to
pilots not being fatigued while on duty, when the research team spoke with our partner airlines, one
of the airlines showed data that demonstrated a 10 15% rise in productivity. Therefore, the
following recommendations are presented to the board:
1.Implement the fatigue management program as soon as possible. The potential gains and
liability decrease significantly outweigh the initial financial burden incurred by our airline.
2.Continue to communicate with our partner airlines, as they will provide essential information
pertaining to the implementation of the program.
3.Clear all proposed changes and introductions with the FAA, as they do have the final say in all
facets of operation regarding safety.
4.Consult with supervisors around our domestic hubs to determine the best way to implement the
program.

Illegal Drug Use And Prostitution
Money is often thought of as the root of all evil because it has been proven time and time again
that some people will do anything to get as much as possible. Some of the most profitable
organized crimes are so successful they are international but often rely on harming others to get
ahead. Illegal druguse, human trafficking and prostitutionare three of most lucrative crimes today
generating billions of dollars a year. The money is obtained illegally so the need for money
laundering is essential. Several factors go into each of these issues and some of these issues can
easily be tied to one another. Greed, survival, addiction and emotional needs are just a few factors
that drive the businesses of organized crime. As with any business, money is the fuel that keeps it
going. In many cases illegal drug use, prostitution and money laundering are found to be linked. An
example would be a person turning to prostitution in order to provide the funds necessary to get the
drugs that they needed. Money laundering can also include other sources such as illegally acquired
funds through financial transactions (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2013). Issues of illegal drug use,
prostitution, and money laundering will always be a struggling issue in the world of crime.
Americans have had a complicated history with drugs, illegal or otherwise. Up until the early 20th
Century, many substances we now condemn as illegal were, not only legal, but widely used in
products sold to households across

the same basic beliefs, that there is one God and they all believe in Jesus and his teachings, and

development of such organizations as the Young Men s Christian Association and Young Women s

The evangelical concern of modern ecumenism brought about the formation, in 1921, of the

The service efforts made by Christians across denominational and national boundaries came to

Who Is Leslie Knope s Parks And Recreation
Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show which stars Amy Poler as the main character, Leslie
Knope. Leslie Knope is a lively government official who works in the Parks Department of
Pawnee. Although Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show, Leslie Knope displays insight
into misogyny, sexism, gender equality and government sexual politics, particularly in an office
place. Before we were aware of the cliche yet degrading storyline of girls fantasizing of finding the
perfect man to marry, the media produced a majority of their films based on that specific plot.
The media portrayed the woman depending on a man to sweep her off her feet and to live happily
ever after. One major example is the story of Cinderella. The book ended happily ever after only
when Cinderella had found her prince? Finding a man solely for living a comfortable life without
any worries is in fact risky and foolish. Dependence on a man is futile because you are indeed
responsible for your own life. Leslie Knope challenges this idea by focusing all of her time
furthering her career and improving life in the Town of Pawnee. In no way does Leslie show any

Machiavelli Company
Machiavelli Co. Written over 500 years ago, The Prince by Machiavelli, was crafted as guideline
for rulers of this era. Contained within the novel are rules and ideas formulated to ensure that the
prince had the longest lasting and best rule that he could. Although it was written so long ago it is
fun to think about what kind of kingdom, or in our case, a business would look like according to
ideas laid out in The Prince. When an employee walks in for his first day on the job at
Machiavelli Co. they would notice a few important things. One thing to take into account is that
the company has been around for a long time and it stomps out any other smaller competition

Fans And Fandom
Traditionally, the topic of fans and fandom has been well researched throughout popular culture
media. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed
popular media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive
relationship between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be
examined through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in
nature in order to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). To make popular media
exclusive, researcher Stuart Hall (1999) discovered that the creators of popular media encoded their

Though anti fans do not support popular culture economically, researcher Dallas Smythe (2006)
revels that anti fans are knowledgeable individuals based on their experiences undergone throughout
childhood to adulthood (p.244). Using personal experiences, anti fans engage in semiotic and
enunciative productivity, as author Fiske (1989) quotes, where anti fans use their own personal
experiences to interpret, comprehend and articulate the popular media content (p.37). Armed with
their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to
interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their
reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt
the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they
wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure;
ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of
this can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of
Grey series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure
towards the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce
various distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the
popular culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962). According to the researchers Harman Jones
(2013), the various distinctions that arise in anti fan discourse is proof towards exemplifying how
anti fans are active members in production and circulation of popular culture (p.963). Besides being

The Value Of Loan Payment Essay
Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period (
Titman et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the
beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional
front. The outstanding interestrate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value
with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of
interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times
compounding occurred in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance
amount of loan one owes must be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman
et all, 2014). The information regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair
idea about how the loan financing occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and
interest affect the amount of any loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration
such as refinancing mortgage loancost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as
appraisal fee, legal fee, origination fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by
getting attracted to lower interest rate. The refinance must put some extra moneyaside to pay the
refinancing cost.

Abstract
We are familiar with the problems that our environment face due to plastics, as these consumes
massive energy and other natural resources, depleting the environment in various ways.
Moreover, their disposal has always been a constant headache and problem for the society. But
plastic s usage can t be completely ostracized as it will result in depletion of other natural
resources like paper, wood at great extent. The light weight, cost effectiveness and strength of
plastics can be put in to various good uses. The softening point of plastic is achieved at about
160 degrees Celsius. These properties of plastics will play a good role in construction of roads.
The softened plastic can be laminated over hot aggregates and can be used as an alternative to the
very costly bitumen used as a binder in road construction.
The main objective of this paper is to discuss the significance of plastic use in road construction in
terms of strength and cost reduction.

Dracula, By Bram Stoker
In the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, a vampire named Count Dracula is brought about and
brung into the real world . Many stories, books, movies, and games have developed from this
novel. In the novel, Dracula has a lot of myths attached to him. These myths are what make him a
vampire, and so when other people come up with these new stories or books or movies, they also
implement myths into their characters to give them life as a vampire. In every story, most of the
characters are considered either bad and evil or good and friendly . These labels are based on the
characters actions, thoughts (when possible), and personality traits. In Dracula, Count Dracula
would primarily be classified as the antagonist and evil. As previously mentioned, this is based on
the fact that he made evil decisions, and had very bad qualities about him. However, in Twilight,
Edward is a much more difficult character to label. Him and the Count have many similarities,
however they are also much different. Blood sucking, shapeshifting, killer... These are just some of
the myths attached to Count Dracula. Dracula is a vampire, and as we all know, vampires consume

My Review On Zojirushi NS WAC 10 Rice Cooker and Warmer The Recipe For Divinely Delicious
Rice
Quite recently, I felt the need for a rice cooker. Since I need to make rice on daily basis, I decided
that it is time I get a rice cooker and get done with the task easily and avoid all the hassle. I always
thought that buying something as simple as a rice machine will be easy but when I started
searching the market aisles, I was in for a big surprise. There were so many make and models all
claiming to be better than the other and I had no idea which one to go for.
Thankfully, I have been very lucky as I decided on a Zojirushi ns wac 10. Efficient and effective, I
found my Zojirushi rice cooker a real convenience. Never before had I known that ... Show more

It made all the adjustments itself and I was saved from all the nuisance of constantly checking how
the rice is cooking. The result, needless to say, was always perfectly cooked rice. Moreover it also
has a clock and delay timer to further sweeten the deal.
Dent Resistant Body
A very telling factor of the quality of any product is its body. Same goes for Zojirushi s rice cooker.
Not only it is attractive in looks, it also has a dent resistant body. I have using it for almost two
years now and it still looks as good as new. This dent resistant body guarantees prolonged usage.
Capacity:
Believed to be the best rice cooker and steamer by many, the Zojirushi rice cooker can
accommodate upto 5.5 cups of rice. Not only is the rice well cooked, it is healthy as well. The
capacity that this rice cooker offers gives it an edge because unlike others, with it you can easily
cook for a group of 13 15 people.
Keep Warm Mode:
An ingenious design, Zojirushi Micom uses a keep warm mode. This makes this rice cooker an
intelligent tool. Once the rice is cooked, it stops heating to prevent the rice from overcooking and
shifts to the keep warm mode so that whenever you wish to serve it, you get it warm and fresh.

Analysis Of Shawshank Redemption
The good thing won t last long and can t get enough view of the satisfaction. But one mistake can
flip the life upside down in a matter of second. The movie Shawshank Redemption , is written and
directed by Frank Darabont is about Andy Dufresne. Andy Dufresne is the main character in the
movie who was found guilty and sentenced to two consecutive life terms behind bars at Shawshank
Prison for the conviction of his wife and lover murders. No other characters know that the Andy is
innocent and falsely sentenced besides him. Andy had a tough time in Shawshank Prison and had to
deal with certainty.
The very first night in the jail, Andy realizes what the prison guard think about me? beats a new
inmate to death for crying his innocence in the middle of the night. In the very next day, Andy
meets the guy named called Red, which is well known as Advisor at Shawshank Prison. He used to
assist new inmates to show the way to get familiar with the old inmates. His quiet strength slowly
earns the respect of his fellow inmates, most notably, Red (Morgan Freeman) and even much of the
prison staff. His previous experience as a banker sale earns him favor with the guards and the
warden as he begins to launder money for them all. Consequently, Andy is allowed uncommon
benefits which incorporate working in the superintendent s office and building a library for
whatever remains of the jail. In any case, Andy s apparently stoic acknowledgment of his

Spruce Budworm Research Paper
Spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana (Clemens)) outbreaks have an important effect on
succession of balsam fir (Abies balsamea (L.) Mill.) and spruce (Picea spp.) stands in eastern
Canadian forests (MacLean 2004). Spruce budworm feeds repeatedly on annual shoots of balsam
fir and spruce and leads to large scale growth reduction and mortality (MacLean and Ostaff 1989).
When overstory treemortality occurs from defoliation, it creates gaps that allow understory plants
to get an opportunity to release (Osawa 1994; Kemball et al. 2005). Defoliation also changes the
competitive interactions between host fir spruce and non host species and may release the latter.
Research by Su et al. (1996) revealed that different hardwood content in stands influences balsam fir
defoliation and mortality caused by spruce budworm. Defoliation and mortality are less in stand
with high hardwood content than in stands with low hardwoods (MacLean 1980; Bergeron et al.
1995; Su et al. 1996). This results in higher canopy openness in stands with high conifer content
than in high hardwood content ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of a balsam fir seedling bank prior to the outbreak could be due to unfavorable litter
or soil conditions (Greene et al. 1999), higher competition by shrubs prior to the outbreak
(Kneeshaw and Bergeron 1999), and the absence of seed trees. Absence of a seedling bank or
death of the seedling bank during an epidemic will lead to lack of fir recruitment (Bouchard et al.
2007). But in research by Spence and MacLean (2012) there was a different result: in immature
stands the intolerant hardwood regenerations post disturbance (4% 27%) was higher than pre
disturbance (0%). But the percentage of intolerant hardwood regeneration eventually decreased
(from 19% 44% to 4% 25%). This suggests that in immature stands may still have a higher balsam
fir composition over

Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression
Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is
oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant
group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does
it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the
simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there
are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive
idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects
both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the
concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no
group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when
rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the
simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction.
Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal
oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly
counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of
oppression is largely

together they call themselves the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A nation of approximately

many nationalities. Investigating this nation s culture has been an enlightening experience.
Furthermore, understanding this sovereign states government, culture, and its rich ties to the

companions in both nations have similar customary actions during their introductions to one

cultures. Therefore, understanding interactions within Muslim states is important to the overall
concept of their culture. Many American men and women tend to sit with their legs crossed.
There are many occasions when people within the country, sit with their feet propped up on
something. For the American culture, this is a normal action. Showing the sole of your foot to
someone in America does not register as disrespect to Americans. The people of the UAE find
this gesture is a clear sign of disrespect. This article has revealed the cause of this belief is due to
the foot being the lowest part of the body, and because it stays in contact with the ground.
Understanding the way they do their business deals is another way to explain their culture.
Networking the Arabian way or Wasta, is the way the natives explain business dealings with other

Literary Analysis Of The Haunted Boy
Literary Analysis The Haunted Boy
The setting is used by the author in stories to display the mood of the scene. Specific details bring
up certain moods for the characters and the reader. For example, when talking about a warm, sunny
day, the reader can infer that the scene is going to be happy and there is going to be no
misfortunate event that happens. Carson Smith McCullers uses the setting in her short story The
Haunted Boy to display the different moods of the main character Hugh. The settings in the story
help show how uncomfortable Hugh is in the house after a past experience and shows how happy
he is outside when he remembers happy memories.
The beginning of the story starts out with one of few happy settings. The front yard was one of
the only places that brought happy feelings to the story. McCullers short story starts out by
describing the day having sunshine on a mid April afternoon and the front lawn being green (page
675). These descriptions allow the reader to think warm and colorful thoughts. The story then goes
to talk about how the boys are running outside in the warm. Hugh race up the sidewalk, and John
followed him. They finished the front steps with two bounds, and the door slammed after them
(page 675). This shows how the boys are having fun and enjoying each others company. Finally, the
front yard is the place that Hugh remembers some of his fond memories of his mother. Sometimes
she would be out fooling with the border of spring flowers the candytuft, the sweet William, the
lobelias (she had taught him the names)... (page 675). From this explanation, the reader can relate
to the character thinking about different memories that they may have that bring happy thoughts to
mind.
One of the only places in the house that brought a comfortable feeling to Hugh was the kitchen. The
kitchen is described as bright and clean and the best room in the house (page 676). In the kitchen,
there are fresh towels and clean dishes. This statement gives you the feeling that everything is
going well in the house and there is nothing wrong. The kitchen is also the only place in the house
that made Hugh feel comfortable and safe (Page 677), except on this particular day when there was
no note from his

were now free with an expectation that they would enjoy all civil liberties. The post Civil War
period of Reconstruction provided freedmen with various rights, but in little over a decade, the
promise of emancipation and equal rights was gone, replaced by rigid system of laws designed to
keep blacks from experiencing any of their newly achieved rights, which is known as the era of
Jim Crow, the American form of racial Apartheid that separated Americans into two groups: whites,

system of discrimination based on race; it was a legal system, backed up by United States
Supreme Court in cases such as Plessy v. Ferguson and sustained by thousands of local states
and ordinances. In 1883, in the Civil Rights Cases, the Supreme Court invalidated the Civil
Right Acts of 1875, which had outlawed racial discrimination by hotels, theaters, railroads, and
other pubic facilities. In Plessy v. Ferguson, 1896, Supreme Court gave its approval to state laws
requiring separate facilities for blacks and whites, reasoning that segregated facilities did not
discriminate so long as they were separate but equal. John Marshal Harlan, a Kentucky lawyer,
objected the Supreme Court s decision in Plessy v. Ferguson case. He believed that the decision
was unconstitutional as it interfered with the Personal Liberty of the people; and believed racial
segregation as a badge of slavery. He regretted that Supreme Court that was supposed to guarantee
this right is actually denying people of the right. The roots of Jim Crow can

HIPAA Compliant Mobile App Development Requirements
HIPAA compliance issues affect medical practices, insurance companies and eCommerce
companies that sell medical devices, equipment and increasingly popular fitness apps that measure
key health and fitness functions. HIPAA, an acronym that stands for the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act, was passed in 1996 and took effect in 2003. The act mandates
privacy protection for confidential health records including written and oral disclosures and digital
electronic health or medical records, which are called EHRs and EMRs.
App Development for eCommerce
App development becomes increasingly critical for eCommerce companies, and consumers
have embraced apps in a big way for their Internet connected devices. Mobile apps sell in
locations like Apple s App Store, Blackberry App World, Google Play and the Windows Phone
Store, and more than 100 billion apps were downloaded from Apple as of the middle of 2015.[1]
In particular, eCommerce companies get strong cost value results by developing proprietary apps
for their customers because these applications make it easier to order on mobile devices and
provide shortcuts for many online activities. Fitness and health apps, which are usually subject to
HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, have become increasingly in demand on eCommerce

Essay on “Analyze, Don’t Summarize” by Michael Berube
Essay on Analyze, Don t Summarize by Michael Berube Berube analogize student s essays and
watching sports commentary on ESPN, because students tend to summarize in their essays instead
of analyzing it. Berube uses an example as to what he is trying to explain that the world of sports is
metacommentary and no one actually summarizes on how the game is being played. Instead they
analyze, they just point out the important part of the game. In the tenth paragraph he quotes Well,

Chattering like he says. The author expresses the difference between analyzing and summarizing
simply by contradicting himself with the rest of the essay, because he mentioned he wants his
papers to be arguable just as sports talks should be. Berube says that sports talks analogy is
useful simply as a handy way of distinguishing between summary and analysis. When a student
paper cites textual evidence so compelling and unusual that it makes me go back and read

the questions and tensions raised by the rest of the narrative or makes claim that are directly

observation is not a thesis means because a thesis is usually an arguable piece of writing and in
most cases factual and an observation is what is perceived by one at the moment meaning only you
can base an opinion of what you just saw. In this paragraph Berube emphasizes his point on
analyzing, summarizing, and sports talks.

Since the 1970 s, the distinction between criminal law and immigration law has become
increasingly blurred. In many jurisdictions around the world, undocumented immigration was long
considered a civil offence in which violation resulted in fines and deportation. Now, however, illegal
crossings are often treated as criminal violations carrying overly punitive consequences such as
incarceration in harsh detention centers. The ever evolving assortment of laws and enforcement

migrants being ascribed the stigma of criminal , alien or terrorist . This paper will explore the

Essentially, our social reality is influenced by the state constructed definition of what is crime
which often reflects the values of the upper class (Persak, 2016). For example, the trend seen in
many cities in the United States of criminalizing homelessness through so called get tough
policies reflects the upper classes desire for public health and safety, protection of economic
interests in business districts and the maintenance of city aesthetic. Although, these policies do
not address the causes of homelessness rather they exacerbate the problem and violate the
liberties and human rights of citizens (Foscarinis, Cunningham Bowers Brown, 1999).
Criminalization is perhaps the most repressive and intrusive applications of state power on a
citizen and is often implemented, as is the case with the homeless, to target the less desirable
social groups (Persak, 2016). Moreover, while formal criminalization in the form of legislation
and criminal consequences for infringement works as a social control, it is not the only form of
criminalization that occurs. Informal criminalization may in some cases be a more effective form
of social control and ultimately lead to formal criminalization of behavior or come as a result of
formal legislation. As stated by Hauptman (2013), informal social control measures are any social

This is probably the most famous case in legal history. Why? a) It destroyed the privity fallacy.
This idea laid down that where the defendant was liable to one person for breach of contract, he
could not be liable to a third party in tort for the same act or omission. On the facts of the case
the defendant would have been liable to the friend for breach of contract in selling him a
defective product, if the friend had suffered damage. By creating a tortious duty to the plaintiff,
the House of Lords began the removal of the privity fallacy from English law. b) .A new
category of duty was created: that of manufacturers of dangerous products to their ultimate
consumers. This is known as the narrow rule. c) Lord Atkin stated his famous neighbour test as
a general test for determining whether a duty of case existed. This is known as the wide rule.
Not every accident producing injury gives rise to liability for negligence. Some accidents cannot
be avoided even with the exercise of reasonable care. An accident that results from a defendant s
sudden and unexpected physical ailment, such as a seizure or a blackout, generally relieves the
defendant of liability for harm caused during his period of unconsciousness. However, defendants
who have reason to know of such medical problems are expected to take reasonable precautions

Soy Essay
Soy sauce is used as an important flavouring in cooking and has been integrated into the traditional

sauce made in different cultures and regions are different in taste, consistency, saltiness and

Soy sauce is generally a salty, brown liquid made from fermented soybeans mixed with roasted
grain such as wheat, barley and rice, added with a mold called Aspergillus oryzae and salt. Its
consistency can range from very thin to very thick. Flavours too can vary by types and have very

These amino acids and peptides contribute a full, robust flavour and act as a flavour potentiator. The
moromi enzymes also convert the wheat starch into sugars which is important to the finished soy
sauce because it subdues the saltiness. Yeasts act upon a portion of these sugars to form alcohols.
Ethanol is the predominant of these and imparts many flavouring and aromatic characteristics. It
also indicates the presence of other aromatic compounds produced by fermentation. The amount of
ethanol varies depending on the types of soy sauce. For example, the lower level of wheat in tamari
soy sauce do not contribute enough starch to create ethanol so its flavour is entirely different.
Some of the amino acids and sugar undergo Maillard reaction during fermentation to develop a
reddish brown colour. The flavour will be adversely affected if too many of these flavour
contributing components are changed into colouring substances. The colour of finished sauce
will darken undesirably if it is exposed to oxygen. Opened containers of soy sauce should be sealed
and refrigerated to protect both flavour and colour. Finished soy sauce with a pH of about 4.8 and
around 1.0% lactic acid is considered as a good soy sauce

Application Of A Digital Certificate
Joel Abstract: When one submits a request for information to a service, it being a HTTP or a

it claims to be (Rouse, 2013). In public key encryption, the verification of the public key origin

For the second mode, I chose to record a video. Instead of arguing for the NCAA to implement a
salary cap, I used the video to propose the idea of college sports becoming a free market system.
Encapsulating every miniscule detail led me to believe a power point presentation and a video
were the logical choice. After completing them, the combined word count was way under what I
estimated. Due to this complication, I chose to scrap the video and write a paper instead. The
paper allowed a more in depth view into what a free market would entail for a university and the
NCAA. To appeal to a broader audience, I used graphics and an emotional story of a specific player.
The story was of Ben McLemore. Using his story helped the audience

Post Debate Coverage
The presidential election is in full swing. We are deep in the action with fireworks constantly
going off. It is less than two months for the electorate to choose their new leader. This is the
climax of the elections; we are approaching the highlight of politics. This is a very distinct
presidential election for the country due to the individuals representing the two major parties.
Hilary Clinton vs Donald Trump. What used to be friends now turns into a rivalry for the highest
office in America. The importance of this run may affect the future severally in a positive or
negative way and the electorate is here to choose what they deem most appropriate for the country.

We have to consider that these news agencies are cable new companies and therefore are paid by
specific donors to develop their journalism. I have tuned into very bipartisan political shows in
the mainstream media, for example Bill Maher on HBO. These are news platforms that address
the facts; they address the candidates record and what their likely position in future events may be.
Looking into these platforms I will further investigate how these news platforms evoke their
message and how clear is their personal bias. The media is just the bridge between the politics and
the voter, there should be full disclosure, complete transparency, and I have found that this is not

A Study on the Urinary System and Preeclampsia
The Urinary System and Pre eclampsia: The Urinary system comprises of tubes, organs, nerves, and
muscles that work together to develop, store, and transport urine. The system is basically made up
of two ureters, two kidneys, the urethra, two sphincter muscles, and the bladder. This system in the
human body is primarily concerned with the filtering of extra fluid and substances from the
bloodstream in the form of urine. While urine is used to extract extra bloodcorpuscles, vitamins, or
mineral from the human body, it s a liquid created by the kidneys, gathered in the bladder, and
filtered through the urethra. Notably, the urinary systemis an important part of the human body
since it works with other systems to assist in maintenance of homeostasis.
Normal Physiology of the Urinary System: The basic function of the urinary system is to remove
the urea waste from the body, which is produced following the breaking down of foods containing
protein and some vegetables. The urea is transported in the bloodstreams to the kidneys, which are
bean shaped organs. These kidneys in turn extract the urea from the blood through nephrons i.e. tiny
filtering units that consist of small blood capillaries and a small tube. In addition to other waste
substances and water, urea forms the urine as it passes through the tiny filtering units and down the
small tube ( The Urinary System , n.d.). This is followed by the travelling of the urine down the
two thin tubes known as ureters to the

Bowling For Columbine Sociological Analysis
In the movie Bowling for Columbine, directed by Michael Moore, you see Moore talking to
many people on why the Columbine shooting happened. He looks for clues on what could have
caused this and how easily it may have been avoided. Macro sociology is looking at a society as
a whole. Some macro sociological issues that could of contributed to the shooting is media and
America s need to have a gun. Media plays a big role by having commercial after commercial
about have amazing guns are. While they may help in a time of need, they should not be allowed
in the hands of just anyone. They should be checked to make sure they are in the right mind of

We see violence everywhere, if not the news then certainly on some type of app, like Facebook
or twitter. People sharing things everyday that is on violence, examples like guy kills wife over
her phone or Olympian killing his fiancee thinking she was a burglar. Things like this you see
everywhere, it s on Facebook, on posters in magazines and on the news. I believe school also
have a big impact because everyone goes, even if you don t finish you still know what it was
like. The school had a bowling class for kids who didn t like gym class, making them an outcast.
The school is suppose to help you get ready for the real world by interacting with lots of people,
but Harris and Klebold only really spoke to each other, making it hard for them to find other
friends. If schools made kids do activities where they interacted with each other more and not just
let them ignore people and let them fall through the cracks then maybe kids would see they aren
t losers after all. Also if the media showed more good things that happened in the world and not
the wars and people dying then maybe we wouldn t be so scared of what s out there. I do believe
that stricter gun laws would help because if you have to go get checked that you are mentally
sound to have a gun. You could have a clean background check but that doesn t mean you should

Analysis Of The Book The Wild By Jon Krakauer
On June 13, 1971, the New York Times headline read, Vietnam Archive: Pentagon Study Traces 3
Decades of Growing U.S. Involvement . Days earlier, Daniel Ellsberg provided the newspaper
with excerpts from a 7,000 page classified study that became known as the Pentagon Papers. Just
over 20 years later, moose hunters found the decaying remains of an adventurer in the Alaskan
wilderness. The remains were concluded to be those of Chris McCandless, an affluent 20
something from Virginia, who wound up dead following his two year long self righteous odyssey.
Author Jon Krakauerwrote an article on McCandless for Outside magazine, which later
disseminated into a novel titled Into the Wild. At a glance, McCandless and Ellsberg may seem like

Ellsberg s case was later dismissed due to government mishandling and illegally obtained
evidence by The Plumbers who later played a factor in the Watergate scandal and Nixon s
resignation. As Wayne s World hit the silver screens across the US, Chris McCandless perished
in an abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness. McCandless journey began with the purpose of
living a minimalist lifestyle and finding his true self. Alaska was the final destination in the 22
year old s self righteous odyssey that spanned two years. After graduating from Emory
University, McCandless cut all ties with his family and changed his name to Alexander
Supertramp. His new identity alludes to his goal to be the superior vagabond as he traverses
across the country. McCandless motivation for his odyssey was to retaliate against societal norms
and live a minimalist lifestyle. Chris led this type of lifestyle to limit attachment and affection that
would lead to heartbreak and resentment, and because of this, Chris never created a solid
relationship with anyone. Chris McCandless journey into the wild was fueled by a disaffection to
society s accepted norms and his goal to uphold his principles at all costs.
Daniel Ellsberg and Chris McCandless share common ground in their natural talent for academia
and in their post secondary educational pursuits. According to Ellsberg s biography on

Outweighs Its Prejudicial Effect On People V. Albarran Essay
outweighs its prejudicial effect. People v. Albarran (2007) 149 Cal.App.4th 214, 223. We will not
disturb a trial court s exercise of discretion under Section 352 unless it exceeds the bounds of
reason. People v. Funes (1994) 23 Cal.App.4th 1506, 1519.
Rodriguez contends that court abused its discretion under Evidence Code 352 and violated his
right to due process and fair trial when it admitted of evidence showing his previous gang
membership with the Mongol Motorcycle Club. ~(AB 14)~ He claims that evidence of gang
membership unduly prejudiced the jury against him, remarking that identification of the Mongols
was completely unnecessary and did not strengthen the inference that Rodriguez had a motive for
the shooting ~(AB 14, ARB 5)~ We therefore review the record in the light most favorable to the
judgment to determine whether the evidence of gang membership was more probative than
prejudicial with respect to the charges against Mr. Rodriguez.
1.2 The Relevant Gang Evidence was More Probative than Prejudicial
Rodriguez cites Albarran to support his appeal. In that case, the defendant gang member was
charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and attempted kidnapping for
attempting to steal a car after he fired numerous gunshots during a birthday party. People v.

Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning By The First Amendment Depicting on whether the flag burning is protected by the First Amendment the answer would be no while reading this particular article and evidence stated. Yes there will continuously be pros and cons of the situation in regards to the flag; because of various individual values. Therefore the court believes the flag is a symbol a representation of its special role to society and political reasoning, there will be some people who do not agree with but none deserve to be punished because of their own personal beliefs. There came a point where burning the flag in private would be an okay to do so. In the medical world, treatments are ever changing and improving the chance of survival from this disease. One such treatment, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) with stent placement, is now used in more than 80% of CAD cases with an exceedingly high success rate (http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/161446 overview). • 5. The Importance Of Playing Basketball Basketball is my passion and it makes me happy that I decided to continue playing. However, there was a time when I was thinking about not playing again due to an awful experience I had while playing basketball my senior year of high school. I have soon come to realize that not all coaches are the same, for example, my high schoolbasketballcoachis very different to my college basketball coach, especially when it comes to their coaching styles and attitudes towards their players and coaching staff. It is easily said that playing basketball my senior year of high school was my least favorite season. The season was my least favorite, not because of my teammates, but due to the head coach. He only designed plays to showcase our point guard, who is the person that calls the plays that we run on the court. He also had the coaching style where things were either his way or you did not play. For instance, if someone, other than our point guard, were to receive a pass and was wide open for a shot, he would yell at them because they were not meant to shoot the ball in that play. However, in the other coaches and players eyes it would seem pointless for them to not take the chance and shoot the ball, especially if they are wide open. One could make the assumption that he was focused more on the guards than on the group as a whole, but my college coach is nothing like that. I may have only been playing ball in college for one month, but I can say with great confidence that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper looks at what the future looks like for Houston Fire Department. The discussion looks at the situation in the past, at the moment and tries to forecast the future Fire Department. In order to project how the department will look like in the next twenty years, it is important to take stock of past developments in the firefighting industry in general and Houston Fire Department in specific. Discussion There are several positive advancements that have been realized in fire emergency response over time. Benchmarking on the current status, the Houston Fire Department is likely to evolve in three key areas. First, technological advancement. At the moment, Project Ethan has brought a revolution in emergency response service. Project Ethan has been rolled out across the firehouses in the city. Project Ethan is a solution where people used video chats to communicate with medical doctors on emergencies and receive emergency care services. Over time, our understandings and beliefs on the Universe and our world has changed due to new technologies and discoveries. The Big Bang Theory is one example of an concept that is actively believed within the scientific community and has been made well known in our world today. This theory, which can be used to explain the origin and age of our universe, has been refined over the years through a reviewing process in the scientific community as more discoveries came in due to new technological advancements. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope that was launched into space in 1990, April 24th. Its primary function was to take pictures of stars, planets, moons, galaxies, etc. This type of telescope is different from a telescope such as the Hooker Telescope as it is in space, rather than on Earth, and was used for different things. Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75 billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe. To sum up, the Hubble Space Telescope is an important piece of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leslie Knope is a lively government official who works in the Parks Department of Pawnee. Although Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show, Leslie Knope displays insight into misogyny, sexism, gender equality and government sexual politics, particularly in an office place. Before we were aware of the cliche yet degrading storyline of girls fantasizing of finding the perfect man to marry, the media produced a majority of their films based on that specific plot. The media portrayed the woman depending on a man to sweep her off her feet and to live happily ever after. One major example is the story of Cinderella. The book ended happily ever after only when Cinderella had found her prince? Finding a man solely for living a comfortable life without any worries is in fact risky and foolish. Dependence on a man is futile because you are indeed responsible for your own life. Various studies have been conducted to discover the relationship between constructed popular media and its impact on society and the concept of fans and fandom represent a positive relationship between the two. The positive relationship, between fans and popular culture, can be examined through the work of Bourdieu whom uncovered how culture distinctions are classed in nature in order to legitimize a class hierarchy (Gray Murray, 2016, p.358). To make popular media exclusive, researcher Stuart Hall (1999) discovered that the creators of popular media encoded their own beliefs, values, norms and/or experiences into the media content that... Though anti fans do not support popular culture economically, researcher Dallas Smythe (2006) revels that anti fans are knowledgeable individuals based on their experiences undergone throughout childhood to adulthood (p.244). Using personal experiences, anti fans engage in semiotic and enunciative productivity, as author Fiske (1989) quotes, where anti fans use their own personal experiences to interpret, comprehend and articulate the popular media content (p.37). Armed with their personal experiences, researcher Jonathan Gray (2003) documents that anti fans are able to interpret the popular culture being produced and construct a recreation that is suitable for their reaction, and in doing so, react negatively to the popular media content (p.71). In choosing to adapt the popular media content, researcher Gray (2003) discovers that anti fans find a concept that they wholeheartedly dislike and invest great amount of effort and time to express this displeasure; ultimately allowing them to be active members in popular culture discourse (p.71). An example of this can be seen in the anti fandom community that has been created against the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Research conducted into the anti fandom community surrounding the displeasure towards the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy unveils that distaste in a popular culture media can produce various distinctions, with each anti fan having an interpretation, and input, towards what makes the popular culture unpopular (Harman Jones, 2013,p.962). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The outstanding interestrate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loancost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate. The refinance must put some extra moneyaside to pay the refinancing cost. • 21. Dracula, By Bram Stoker In the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, a vampire named Count Dracula is brought about and brung into the real world . Many stories, books, movies, and games have developed from this novel. In the novel, Dracula has a lot of myths attached to him. These myths are what make him a vampire, and so when other people come up with these new stories or books or movies, they also implement myths into their characters to give them life as a vampire. In every story, most of the characters are considered either bad and evil or good and friendly . These labels are based on the characters actions, thoughts (when possible), and personality traits. In Dracula, Count Dracula would primarily be classified as the antagonist and evil. As previously mentioned, this is based on the fact that he made evil decisions, and had very bad qualities about him. However, in Twilight, Edward is a much more difficult character to label. Him and the Count have many similarities, however they are also much different. Blood sucking, shapeshifting, killer... These are just some of the myths attached to Count Dracula. Dracula is a vampire, and as we all know, vampires consume blood. In the novel, the author Bram Stokernever mentions how Dracula became a vampire (every other vampire was created off of Dracula), however Van Helsing thinks that he made a deal with the Devil and traded his mortality for that of a cursed soul in return for something else. • 24. Spruce Budworm Research Paper Spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana (Clemens)) outbreaks have an important effect on succession of balsam fir (Abies balsamea (L.) Mill.) and spruce (Picea spp.) stands in eastern Canadian forests (MacLean 2004). Spruce budworm feeds repeatedly on annual shoots of balsam fir and spruce and leads to large scale growth reduction and mortality (MacLean and Ostaff 1989). When overstory treemortality occurs from defoliation, it creates gaps that allow understory plants to get an opportunity to release (Osawa 1994; Kemball et al. 2005). Defoliation also changes the competitive interactions between host fir spruce and non host species and may release the latter. Research by Su et al. (1996) revealed that different hardwood content in stands influences balsam fir defoliation and mortality caused by spruce budworm. Defoliation and mortality are less in stand with high hardwood content than in stands with low hardwoods (MacLean 1980; Bergeron et al. 1995; Su et al. 1996). This results in higher canopy openness in stands with high conifer content than in high hardwood content ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The absence of a balsam fir seedling bank prior to the outbreak could be due to unfavorable litter or soil conditions (Greene et al. 1999), higher competition by shrubs prior to the outbreak (Kneeshaw and Bergeron 1999), and the absence of seed trees. Absence of a seedling bank or death of the seedling bank during an epidemic will lead to lack of fir recruitment (Bouchard et al. 2007). But in research by Spence and MacLean (2012) there was a different result: in immature stands the intolerant hardwood regenerations post disturbance (4% 27%) was higher than pre disturbance (0%). But the percentage of intolerant hardwood regeneration eventually decreased (from 19% 44% to 4% 25%). This suggests that in immature stands may still have a higher balsam fir composition over ... • 25. Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely ... • 27. Literary Analysis Of The Haunted Boy Literary Analysis The Haunted Boy The setting is used by the author in stories to display the mood of the scene. Specific details bring up certain moods for the characters and the reader. For example, when talking about a warm, sunny day, the reader can infer that the scene is going to be happy and there is going to be no misfortunate event that happens. Carson Smith McCullers uses the setting in her short story The Haunted Boy to display the different moods of the main character Hugh. The settings in the story help show how uncomfortable Hugh is in the house after a past experience and shows how happy he is outside when he remembers happy memories. The beginning of the story starts out with one of few happy settings. The front yard was one of the only places that brought happy feelings to the story. McCullers short story starts out by describing the day having sunshine on a mid April afternoon and the front lawn being green (page 675). These descriptions allow the reader to think warm and colorful thoughts. The story then goes to talk about how the boys are running outside in the warm. Hugh race up the sidewalk, and John followed him. They finished the front steps with two bounds, and the door slammed after them (page 675). This shows how the boys are having fun and enjoying each others company. Finally, the front yard is the place that Hugh remembers some of his fond memories of his mother. Sometimes she would be out fooling with the border of spring flowers the candytuft, the sweet William, the lobelias (she had taught him the names)... (page 675). From this explanation, the reader can relate to the character thinking about different memories that they may have that bring happy thoughts to mind. One of the only places in the house that brought a comfortable feeling to Hugh was the kitchen. The kitchen is described as bright and clean and the best room in the house (page 676). In the kitchen, there are fresh towels and clean dishes. This statement gives you the feeling that everything is going well in the house and there is nothing wrong. The kitchen is also the only place in the house that made Hugh feel comfortable and safe (Page 677), except on this particular day when there was no note from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The certificate owner will mint a new one, but there is another certificate in the wild with equal legitimacy which can be used to falsify someone s identity (Gibson, 2014). • 40. Analysis Of The Salary Cap The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has a current system that is utterly dysfunctional. I outlined two separate ways that I believe have the promise to fix this flawed organization. One of those, the salary cap, would be replicated after the professional system. To show the complex nature of this, using a power point presentation was the only way. The other, the free market approach, would be translated easily into the college game. Due to being easier to understand, a paper appealing to the emotional side of people was the best choice. The logistics of the salary cap approach are much more complex than those of the free market. For the salary cap I chose to do a power point presentation to provide a more in depth look... Finally, he was put in foster care and his football career took off. All the while a man named Kevin Lahn had been helping Shariff financially, giving him money for food, providing him with shelter and a car. The NCAA, however ruled that Shariff must pay him back, even though he had no means to raise that money. The story of Shariff Floyd appeals to the emotional side of people, giving this proposal the support it would need. Emotional appeals have a great deal to do with how people will react. For the second mode, I chose to record a video. Instead of arguing for the NCAA to implement a salary cap, I used the video to propose the idea of college sports becoming a free market system. Encapsulating every miniscule detail led me to believe a power point presentation and a video were the logical choice. After completing them, the combined word count was way under what I estimated. Due to this complication, I chose to scrap the video and write a paper instead. The paper allowed a more in depth view into what a free market would entail for a university and the NCAA. To appeal to a broader audience, I used graphics and an emotional story of a specific player. The story was of Ben McLemore. Using his story helped the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. A Study on the Urinary System and Preeclampsia The Urinary System and Pre eclampsia: The Urinary system comprises of tubes, organs, nerves, and muscles that work together to develop, store, and transport urine. The system is basically made up of two ureters, two kidneys, the urethra, two sphincter muscles, and the bladder. This system in the human body is primarily concerned with the filtering of extra fluid and substances from the bloodstream in the form of urine. While urine is used to extract extra bloodcorpuscles, vitamins, or mineral from the human body, it s a liquid created by the kidneys, gathered in the bladder, and filtered through the urethra. Notably, the urinary systemis an important part of the human body since it works with other systems to assist in maintenance of homeostasis. Normal Physiology of the Urinary System: The basic function of the urinary system is to remove the urea waste from the body, which is produced following the breaking down of foods containing protein and some vegetables. The urea is transported in the bloodstreams to the kidneys, which are bean shaped organs. These kidneys in turn extract the urea from the blood through nephrons i.e. tiny filtering units that consist of small blood capillaries and a small tube. In addition to other waste substances and water, urea forms the urine as it passes through the tiny filtering units and down the small tube ( The Urinary System , n.d.). This is followed by the travelling of the urine down the two thin tubes known as ureters to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We will not disturb a trial court s exercise of discretion under Section 352 unless it exceeds the bounds of reason. People v. Funes (1994) 23 Cal.App.4th 1506, 1519. Rodriguez contends that court abused its discretion under Evidence Code 352 and violated his right to due process and fair trial when it admitted of evidence showing his previous gang membership with the Mongol Motorcycle Club. ~(AB 14)~ He claims that evidence of gang membership unduly prejudiced the jury against him, remarking that identification of the Mongols was completely unnecessary and did not strengthen the inference that Rodriguez had a motive for the shooting ~(AB 14, ARB 5)~ We therefore review the record in the light most favorable to the judgment to determine whether the evidence of gang membership was more probative than prejudicial with respect to the charges against Mr. Rodriguez. 1.2 The Relevant Gang Evidence was More Probative than Prejudicial Rodriguez cites Albarran to support his appeal. In that case, the defendant gang member was charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and attempted kidnapping for attempting to steal a car after he fired numerous gunshots during a birthday party.
