My Life In New Hampshire-Personal Narrative
My life was just normal being in New Hampshire. But then I had to move to Florida, when I was
3. The reason why is because of my mothers job. She found a school that was better than the one
she was at then. That was an interesting change for me. I was just 3 years old and I loved the
cold and snow. Our time in Florida did not last long. The difference in weather really did not
affect my life as much then others because I like colder weather a beater then hot weather. Me and
my parents moved back up to New England again, but to Connecticut this time because of my
mom for her work again. Apparently, it s hard for schools to find a good head admissions person.
So, in Connecticut where I met 2 guys that became my best friends. We taught things

respondents reported that inadequate emphasis on fraud determent practices and on education
contributed to this problem. The public interest in fraud investigation encouraged the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to host a two hour online fraud conference on
CompuServe on 19 June 1996 featuring David L. Landsittel, Chair of the AICPA s Fraud Task
Force, and Edmund R. Noonan, Chair of the Auditing Standards Board (AICPA, 1996a). The
conference discussed the proposed Statement on Auditing Standards, Consideration of Fraud in a
Financial Statement Audit . The Treadway Commission (1987) recommended that accounting
programmes pay more attention to fraud investigation education, suggesting that current curriculum
content may be deficient in this important area. The range of knowledge required of forensic
accountants in performing litigation services, giving expert testimony and conducting fraud
investigation is extensive and should, perhaps, have a more prominent position in the accounting
curriculum. Many groups in society expect accountants to assume a more active role in providing
reasonable assurance regarding responsible corporate governance, reliable п¬Ѓnancial reporting,
and detecting and preventing fraudulent п¬Ѓnancial activities. In response

The Cause Of Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is a autosomal recessive inherited disease that affects many organ systems. Over
time the outcome for patients with the disease has improved drastically. The life expectancy for
patients has increased to 37 years old, compared to 31 years old (O Sullivan, 2009). Researchers
have reviewed the etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations for cystic fibrosis. The cause of
Cystic Fibrosis is mutations in a single gene on chromosome 7 that encodes for the cystic fibrosis
transmembrane regulator , CFTR. The mutated CFTR gene in Cystic Fibrosis patients causes a
defective chloride ion pathway. Typically, a functioning chloride transport allows chloride, which
produces mucus, to exit the cells. Also, a chloride transport helps... Show more content on

As we can conclude, this does not accurately describe Cystic Fibrosis to its entirety. The
improving medical treatment has helped increased the life span of patients with Cystic Fibrosis
but it is unfortunately non curable. How frightening it must be for people who carry the gene and
then bare children. The unknown is always terrifying especially when the outcome is generally
negative. The disease does not just affect one system of the body but many. In conclusion Cystic
Fibrosis is a horrible disease and we can only hope that one day we find a

The New York Times Article
The New York Times article When ultra religious Hasidic women choose to lead secular lives,
their freedom comes at a price is an example of anomic suicide. Anomie is a concept developed
by the sociologist Emile Durkheim to describe a lack on social norm and values or unclear
norms. The absence of norms makes people feel unguided in the choices they have to make.
Durkheim linked anomic suicide to isolation and lack of social regulations. This lack of social
regulations and norms lead to a sense of emptiness and despair. Those ideas lead to situation
where individuals feel disconnected from society. The article talks about a girl named Faigy
Mayer, who committed suicide after leaving an extremely religious life as a Hasidic Women for
a secular life. One of the main factors that contribute to her death was her transition from a highly
religious community to a social environment without religious regulations. The drastic social
change lead to Anomie. According to the New York times article, she grew up on a Belz
community in Brooklyn that was a devoutly religious Hasidic sect which had very strict set of
rules and rigid gender roles. When she left her religious community, all those rules and boundaries
stablished by her community were left behind too. This lack of rules and social regulations in her
new social environment led to the anomic suicide. Once she left her religious community, she also
had to go through the process of

Pro Prison Recidivism
Recidivism is the act of re incarceration for inmates upon release of prison or jail and return with
a new conviction. One who partakes in recidivism is referred to as a recidivist. The
Massachusetts Department of Correction (MA DOC) defines a recidivist as any criminally
sentenced inmate released to the street from MA DOC jurisdiction who is re incarcerated in a
Massachusetts state, county or a federal facility for a new criminal sentence. (mass.gov). In FY
2014 it costs about $53,040.87 to house an inmate in Massachusetts and with an average of 10,000
inmates incarcerated or in pre release programs that s an astonishing $530,408,700 (a little over 1/2
billion dollars) of taxpayer dollars funding incarcerationin Massachusetts. Also,... Show more

These movements can be classified as a reform movement. Reform movements pursue changes that
will implement the existing value scheme more adequately. Reform because the pro prison reform
initiatives aim at allocating funding from prisons and jails to education, rehabilitation, and job
skill programs that actually save the society billions of dollars a year and educate felons so they
are most likely not to reoffend. Most of the recidivists are of African American or Hispanic
ethnic background and between the ages of 17 25 and lack education and or skills needed to
meet our labor force. With the cost of an average inmate at $53,000 in MA versus the $20,000
average cost of participating in rehab programs aimed at deterring criminally aimed lives. The
clash over resources and values is what struck this growing social change for recidivism. Resources
being monetary factor in incarceration and the value of prison. We incarcerate and place people
in the same environment we are trying to release them from and they have no institutional
programs aimed at solving this issue of recidivism. The value as pointed out by the federal
government is the notions that if the government doesn t start hiring felons or ex cons how do
they suppose that others will take on the same practice. No one left behind is the model of the
USA and is the main reason that we cant outcast our felons. President Obama issued an executive
order to combat this social problem demanding that all federal agencies are prohibited of asking
for ones criminal record before the offer of employment. Only when a job is offered, is the time
when a felon is supposed to disclose such information. This will lead us into a new era of reducing
recidivism as a society and lower crime rate in urban areas of the States. It is the role of the
government to lead such initiatives so that other local and state governments take head and

Treatments for Psychological Disorders
One out of three Americans appear to have needed mental health treatment at some point within the
past two years, according to a study done by Napa Chapter. Mental health treatments, otherwise
known as therapies , have become an increasingly common practice among the American people.
The cause being the increase in the diagnosing of mental health disorders. With the number of new,
and the increasingly common disorders, a number of therapy treatments have been developed, the
most common non medicated one being Psychotherapy. The most common types of Psychotherapy
include: Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Interpersonal therapy, and,
family focused therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral therapy, otherwise known as CBT, is a treatment that focuses on the
examination of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and finding the patterns
that may lead people to self destructive actions. An example of CBT is, if a person suffering from
depression thinks of themselves as unimportant , they are encouraged to think oppositely by doing a
number of exercises. One of the most common of these exercises is to keep a chart of negative
thoughts or feelings, and for the patient to counteract them with more positive things. For example,
if one is feeling unimportant , they can counteract it with, I am important, because if I hadn t gotten

Which Paper Towel Works Best
Which Paper Towel Works Best
When you come to the paper towel aisle in the grocery store do you ever get frustrated and
annoyed by all the brands to choose from? Every brand is telling you that they are the strongest
and that their brand will absorb the fastest. Have you ever actually taken the time to figure out
which brand is indomitable and absorbs the quickest? Well today I will fill you in on this
mysterious secret and tell you not only which brand is not lying to you but also which brand you
are getting your money s worth and if paying that extra dollar is worth the name brand I think that
the most expensive paper towel will be the strongest based on an ice cube suspended over a paper
towel over a bowl held by a rubber band. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that I waited until the entire ice cube melted. This took about two hours or so. Now that the
ice had all melted and absorbed into the paper towel I could see that the ice cube had either broke
through the paper towel, absorbed fully into the paper towel or leaked though in some spots. When
I was finished looking over what had happened, I wrote down the results and everything all of my
observations.
The first brand that I decided to start with was Scott. Scott brand claims to have fast absorbing
ridges. I bought a package of ninety six one ply sheets for a $1.69. I figured out that each sheet
costs around 0.018 cents. The paper towel sheets individually are 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. The
Scott brand held up pretty well with the ice cube. The ice cube did not break through or rip the
paper towel. The paper towel was fully wet and absorbed the entire red ice cube. None of the red
water leaked through. I feel that the Scott brand has passed the test.
The second brand that I tested was Giant Eagles Clean n Tuff . This brand claims to be strong and
absorbent. I paid eighty nine cents for a ninety six 2 ply sheet roll. The sheets had the dimensions
of 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. Each sheet costs around 0.0092 cents. After the ice cube finished
melting I observed what happened and found that the paper towel absorbed the water with no
tearing or dripping through at all.

consider new factors that you otherwise would not need to think about during a local move. Here
are three things a moving company can do to protect your belongings. Moving Trucks With
Climate Control If you own things like antiques, valuable collectors items, or paintings, they will

Terrestrial Isopods
METHODS
Study Site and Species Isopods (Armadillidium vulgare) can be found universally in nearly every
temperate climate under natural debris (CITE). Terrestrial isopods do not contain a waxy cuticle on
their exoskeleton, making them more susceptible to suffer water loss through their water permeable
exoskeleton (CITE). A. vulgare uses the permeable exoskeleton to also excrete one form of
nitrogenous waste, while the other form is excreted through uric acid (CITE). Experimental Design
The experiment was performed testing two independent variables, light and soil moisture. A
constructed box was split into six equal sections, occurring one right after the next, and dividers
with cutouts were placed in between each section. A tall divider was placed after the third section,
separating half of the sections from each other. The experiment was designed to test both light and
water moisture at the same to ensure that other temperature and air pressure would not become a ...

A random amount of soil, 40.00 grams, was chosen to be consistent throughout each section of
the entire experiment. To gauge how much water would be needed to saturate the soil to 100%,
two times as much water was added to the soil, or 80 ml, and the mixture was stirred together.
After waiting 1 minute, excess water was poured off, repeating the cycle until no more water was
found to be pooling on the soil. The mixture was weighed and the original mass of the soil was
subtracted from the current mass, producing the mass of the water at 100% saturation, or 61.25
ml. Sixty one and one quarter mL was then multiplied by 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 respectively to
produce the amounts of water that would represent the soil at 25%, 50%, and 75% water
saturation. These percentages were chosen because the extreme percentages, 0% and 100%
saturation would have been avoided by the isopods

The Importance Of Education, By Robert Maynard Hutchins
Robert Maynard Hutchins describes it as The object of education is to prepare the young to educate
themselves throughout their lives. We should give our youth the way to educate themselves.
Edward Everett said that Education is a better safeguard of liberty than a standing army.
Importance of Education:
We all know the importance of education. It is the most important aspect of any nation s survival
today. Education builds the nations; it determines the future of a nation. ISLAM also tells us about
Education and its importance. The real essence of Education according to ISLAM is to know

they are from another planet. A madrassa student can t compete even in our country then the
World is so far from him. He finds very difficult to even speak to a school boy. It is crystal clear
that Islamic Education is necessary for Muslims but it is also a fact that without modern education
no one can compete in this world. There are many examples of Muslim Scholars who not only
study the Holy Quraan but also mastered the other subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
Astronomy and many more, with the help of Holy Quraan. I think with the current education
system we are narrowing the way for our children instead of widening it. There is no doubt that our
children are very talented, both in schools and in madrassas, we just need to give them

Why The Decline Of Newspaper Is Bad For The Us
Laura Finley states in her article The Decline of Newspapers Is Bad for the US that there has
been quite a decline in newspapers in recent years. The cause of this decline is none other than our
beloved internet. The biggest decline in newspapers was between October 2008 and March 2009.
In this time period average newspapersales decreased by 7.1 percent compared to the year prior. (14
15) Advertisingrevenues declined by an outstanding 30 percent in the first quarter of 2009! (15 16)
Since 2007 several major newspapers have been forced into bankruptcy or have experienced major
budget cuts due to the internet. One such newspaper is The Boston Globe who faced tremendous
financial danger and possible closure in May 2009. (16 17) Another such

was very dark and cold. Earlier in Mrs. Wright s life she had cared about herself and she cared
about how she looked. Now she is so overworked that it seems strange when she dresses up or
tries to look nice. For example, Mrs. Hale says that she had looked all done up and mentions that
it seemed strange for her (Glaspell, 2). Now she is too busy to care about every single detail of
the house and her appearance. She has so much to do that she cannot worry about every single

her house gloomy, but her outward appearance is as well. When it came to the canary, her eye

The Power Struggles in Jury of Her Peers and Mama Come Home
The issue of dominance and subordinance is addressed in the short stories A Jury of her Peers by
Susan Glaspell and Mama Come Home by James Tiptree, Jr. In the stories the subordinates are
harmed by the dominants, but the subordinates overcome the suppression to triumph in the end.
The groups with the power control the laws and the positions of the weaker group.
To begin with, A Jury of her Peers is about the way women in 1917 were treated by men. The main
women characters are Minnie Wright, Mrs. Peters, and Mrs. Hale. The women in the story are
confined to their homes; rarely getting to go to town or visit with their friends. The women did not

The men also think all the housework the women do and the things they worry about are trifles.
The women receive no credit for their work. Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you
say, ladies? (Glaspell 264) The women become depressed and lonely.
The subordinates are harmed both physically and emotionally in the story Mama Come Home.
The giant women overpower the smaller men. They beat the men and rape them. The giant
women use the men as sex slaves. They see the men as inferior and only good for sex. The men
are physically harmed because they are bruised and beaten by the Capellans. The standing one
had my neck in a vise at arm s length, and when I worked the standard finger bend she laughed
like a deep bell and casually twisted up my arm until things broke. (Tiptree 69) They are
emotionally damaged because they are taken advantage of. Anyone that is raped becomes torn up
inside.
In the story Jury of her Peers, the women are thought of as inferior. The men treatthe women like
they are not able to do the same things as the men. But would the women know a clue if they did
come upon it? (Glaspell 266) The women have feminine intuition. They know the pain from
isolation that Minnie was going through and know what clues to look for. Again, for one brief
moment, the two women s eyes found one another. (Glaspell 280) The men underestimate that the
women can think on this level.

Whenever his army marched into a land, it was not just an army of warriors; he brought an
entourage of scholars to spread the culture as well. Interspersed within the fighting battalions
were architects, philosophers, scribes, musicians, and educators whose whole duty was to
spread the culture to those who were conquered. Some of these strategies were the establishment
of Greek cities, Greek schools (Gymnasia), and commanding the Greek language as the official
language for government and the de facto language for commerce. Many people began to give
their children Greek names, and local styles of art and architecture began to imitate Greek
models. Even some of the Jewish High Priests took Greek names. All of this was not a good turn
of events for Israel since the Greek culture was very ungodly and humanistic. Despite the bright
and promising future ahead of him, Alexander met an unexpected death in Babylon at the age of
32 and though one will like to believe that all that he stood for will now be in vain, the case was
not so but rather what he initiated had only just begun. After the death of Alexander his field
marshals struggled for dominion of the lands they had conquered.

Operation Market Garden Research Paper
The operation started around dawn on the 17th of September, 1944. German forces continued
receiving regular air strikes by allied forces near Eindhoven, Deelen, Ede, and airfields in
Holland. Paratroopers of the airborne assault boarded their planes and began travel to their drop
sites. The operation used over two thousand aircraft, between troop carriers and assault aircraft, to
get the paratroopers close enough to assault into their objectives. By approximately 1400 hours
local time on the 17th, an estimate of 20,000 troops landed in vicinity of their planned drop zones.
Additionally, this was the first successful airborne operation for dropping artillery into battle. The
three assault forces began their movement onto their objectives by evening of the 17th, finding
little resistance until they approached Eindhoven. Upon arrival at some of the locations to secure,
it was identified the Germans blew up the bridges before allied forces could reach their

do about it? For thousands of years, we have used predators to hunt for us and their reward being
stuck in cages and prostitution. They come back in free will or in fear. Ever since the beginning of
time, we have been trying to control these wild beasts. What happens when they re not there to
finish the life cycle? EXTINCTION. We have lost 99% of our animalspecies, most of this loss is
from billions of people keeping animals in captivity.
First, let s dive into the animal s number one problem, imprisonment. They ll never ever know
what it s like to be freed. They ll never know what it s like to be wild or do anything critters do.
They re taking away from their family, habitat, and freedom are stripped away. They ll never have
a mate, younglings, or catch prey for themselves. Think if we didn t take any animals away from
the wild, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More work, more food, more everything! As they grow, they grasp their wild nature. There are
many stories of how wild pets attack their owners, most fatal and even death. Even squirrels go
nuts and can give a nasty bite to their owners. Well, that sounds really bad, but some carry
diseases and what not. Some diseases they carry are Brucellosis, Salmonella, and Ringworm. They
also carry parasites, that can be passed onto people and be deadly.
So as you see keeping a wild animal as a pet is very dangerous. They re many records of people
being fatally injured or dying because of a wild animal attack or a pet attack. There is also a lot of
paperwork for you and for the other person. It s also a lot of work, no matter how high it gets
you on the social scale that doesn t relate to how much work it takes. So as this is the end, I hope
you strongly agree with me that NO wild animal should be kept

How Social Policy And How It Has Had On Children And Their...
For the purpose of this essay I am going to be discussing how social policy and legislation with
regards to poverty in the UK has evolved and the effect it has had on children and their families.
There are 3.5 million children living in poverty in the UK today, 27 per cent of children
(Department for Work and Pensions, 2013). According to Mayer (1997), poor homes tend to have
overcrowding, lack electrical outlets and less likely to have central heating. The level of cognitive
stimulation is another element, which can be affected by lack of financial resources and poverty
(Guo Harris, 2000). This essay will now focus on five key acts these are; the poor law, National
assistance act, the Sure Start programme, the child poverty act... Show more content on

The act introduced a new position named Overseer of the poor. The role of the Overseer of the
poor was to collect the poor rate from property owners, supervise the parish poor house, calculate
the amount of Poor Rate requires for the parish and finally distribute money, clothes or food to the
deprived. The 1601 Act made provision for setting the deprived on work . This did not usually
include housing, but in 1631 there was a workhouse founded in Abingdon. The Poor Law was
amended 1601 providing work or apprenticeships for orphaned children or whose parents could
not provide for them, parents and children were accountable for each other; so deprived elderly
parents were expected be accommodated by their children (Alchin, 2012).
The changes of the industrial revolution led to the development of the towns, increasing the
population leading to the first experience of modern unemployment and the trade cycle. This led
to a rise in poor rates. Due to the poor rates rising amendments to the poor law were introduced in
1834. These included less eligibility; the position of the pauper must be less eligible or less to be
selected than that of the independent employee (Spicker, 2010).
The Poor Law focused mainly on the man who is able bodied by introducing

Breaking Down The Basics Of Online Roulette Play
Blog 31 Breaking down the basics of online roulette play It can be argued that the most popular
online casino game today is online roulette. This age old game of charm and novelty seems to be
doing a fantastic job of giving modern games a run for their money, as millions still opt to spin
the wheel on a daily basis. Part of the reason as to why roulette s popularity has remained steady
for seemingly decades is that it is a true game of chance, which puts a player s luck to the
ultimate test. When it comes to roulette anyone can play and more importantly anyone can win.
Those looking to get in on the wheel spinning action needn t overthink the game, as the
following looks at how to get to grips with its basics. Understand the Wheel Here is an odd piece
of trivia; the term Roulette is actually the French term for Small Wheel . The wheel is the core
instrument within the game of roulette and is something that must be studied in order to get the
very best out of it. Made up of 36 randomly number pockets which alternate between the colours
red and black, along with a green zero pocket and sometimes a double zero pocket, numbers and
colours are found at the core of this game. Depending on the variation of online roulette you
choose to play the type of wheel you see will change, but generally speaking the aforementioned
is what you re likely to come across. The digital croupier is the one who controls the game, while
players are only able to bet at the beginning of each

Television is the Downfall of our Society Essay
Television is the Downfall of our Society
Can you imagine the actual number of people who watch T.V.? People spend more time before
the television, than any other thing. Nowadays, even children, to be more specific, toddlers spend
most of their time watching T.V. Shouldn?t they be playing with their toys inside or outside,
playing in the yard, going to the park for a walk or to play on the swings and slides? Don?t you
remember when you were young when your parents took you to the park? All kids went to the park,
but nowadays, the park has been substituted with the television and video games (for youth).
Maybe this is also a reason why many of our children are obese. Because the television producers

Noton?s World is a very good example of this also, because he performs experiments and talks
about science and math during his show. Shows such as cartoons aren?t very educational; however,
they can be very entertaining for these children. There are also shows, such as The Alyson?s
Sisters, which deals with everyday occurrences that relate to them. These twins fall into this age
group and the show talks of things that happen to them during and outside of school. For instance,
the show talks about their first date, first dance, first kiss, first boyfriend, Etc. For teenagers, shows
such as The Fresh Prince, Boy Meets World, Hang Time, Sister Sister, Family Matters, and Change
of Heart are being shown on T.V. These shows usually are shown after 3:00 p.m. or during the
weekend the time when teenagers are out of school. Teenagers watch these shows because they can
relate to the characters. These characters go through the same things that teenagers go through.
Sometimes, they wish that they could go through those awesome things that happen to those
fictional characters. However, shows like the Jerry Springer Show, aren?t or shouldn?t be watched
by teenagers, because it forces a way of being and thinking into their minds. If you have ever
watched the Jerry Springer Show, you don?t want to be a guest, or you always say that won?t

Poem Analysis- Robert Fross; Robert Browning; Anne Bradstreet
Robert Frost, Out,Out
1. In line 15, Frost describes the saw as being sinister. He infers that the saw has a mind of its
own, by stating that the saw jumped out of the boy s hand and cut the boy s hand terribly. Frost
also makes it seem as if the saw is in a way, like a friend. He does this by demonstrating that using
the saw is an advantage for the boy because it is making his job ten times easier. Without the saw,
the boy would spend hours cutting through the wood. 2. In Frost s poem, the people that surround
the boy must be his family. It could also very much be friends, or members of his community, along
with the doctor and nurses working on his injury. The tone of the poem leads me to conclude that

In other words, he, the Duke, controls the Duchess; or he wishes to control his Duchess. The Duke
wouldn t want anyone to see the portrait of his Duchess, with her blushed cheeks, unless he was
there. The same can be inferred from the last few lines of the poem, line 54 55, Notice Neptune,
though,/Taming a sea horse, thought a rarity,/ Which Claus of Innsbruck cast in bronze for me!
The Duke is implying, that he himself is Neptune, and his last Duchess is the sea horse. No one
could have imagined that a sea horse could be tamed, but Neptune achieved it. Identical to the way
that the last Duchess herself was tamed.
Adrienne Rich, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers,
In her poem, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, Adrienne is describing the protagonist s feelings towards
her marriage. In lines 9 10, the protagonist feels that she is a prisoner of her marriage, and will
only be set free when she dies. The protagonist uses the tigers as a symbol of who she wished she
could be. In the first stanza of the poem, Adrienne describes the tigers as being un fearful of the
men. A trait she wishes she possessed.
Sharon Olds, Rite of Passage, 1. The speaker describes the first grade boys at her son s birthday
party as men. Their behavior is pure imitation of the men they have been around. Her description
of them is ironic, because how can first graders realistically be grown men? She also uses the
concept of violence a lot in the poem.

haikus used throughout this story devoted a great of amount of attention to the natural world as

Compare And Contrast Zero Hour And The War Of The Worlds
When reading science fiction, what do you think of? You think of the future, mechanisms,
floating cars, and much more! In the stories Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury and The War of the
Worlds by H.G. Wells, you will always think about one thing: the way aliens invade Earth and
how people treat it, but are these stories alike or different? Bradbury and Wells show how life
would be during an alien invasion using characters and events to portray their vision of an alien
invasion. The authors of Zero Hour and The War of the Worlds show characters that handle their
feelings and the invasions in different ways. The protagonists of each story is Mink from Zero
Hour and the narrator from The War of the Worlds. Each character handles invasions differently.

Though Offred s mind has been affected by the indoctrination, she still expresses her individualism
throughout the novel. This is seen through small acts of rebellion like when she takes the butter to
use as moisturizer and by manipulating language to retain what is left of her sense of humour. It s
an event, a small defiance of rule, so small as to be undetectable, but such moments are the rewards
[she] hold[s] out for [her]self, like the candy [she] hoarded, as a child, at the back of a drawer.
Offred relies on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is
sneaking a look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch
at what arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor,
she remains indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers
sympathy. This would suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of
the individual, it is the individual themselves.
The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance
of retaining individualism in society. Zamyatin uses the characters D 503 and I 330 in contrast to
each other to display different schools of thought in the situation surrendering ones individualism
for a collective dream and rebelling because (as

more the elder. In the Lakota tribe, the grandmother said that when the Deer Woman takes them
into her lodge she has sex with them but, when they wake the deer woman is no longer there
leaving the man forgetful of his family and in search of the Deer Woman. Unlike the Lakotas, my
family has gone out and seen their own type of deer woman wether it be with drugs, sex, or lies, but
never have they forgotten about the rest of us. My family has learned to embrace one another when
they have fallen into temptation, where the Lakotas would cast them out. My relatives have gone
through many hardships and difficult situations but the morals have set into our heads like
Koskalaka s grandmother set into his head. The many men whom the Deer Woman lured into her
lodge lost complete contact with their families and thus themselves. They left their family s worried
about where they could be and what could be happening to them. The men became selfish and
inconsiderate, and no longer showing the respect and attention that they should have been showing

The Small Business Market Of America Essay
Abstract By reviewing the small business market in America, the question of Why? can be asked.
Why are more and more people leaving established careers to start small businesses and what is
driving the success of these businesses. Steven Jones analyzes this question and looks into one
particular small party planning businessand breaks down the vital components of this successful
business. Jones also dissects the scholarly articles of Professors John Seedon and Brendan O
Donovan, regarding command and control, and systems thinking managementtechniques.
Changing Mindset Case Study Analysis More and more individuals are looking to quit their
careers and to start fresh. As larger companies continue to grow, voids are left in a particular
industry or market. Entrepreneurs are recognizing these voids and taking no time to fill them. With
no previous business model to follow and very little startup capital, it can be desirable to some to
take the leap and start up a small business. With little capital required to being a new small
business, there is very little risk from a financial standpoint. With little capital required to invest
and a potentially infinite income, it is no wonder why more and more people are starting small
businesses. (Fairlie, 2015) One particular industry that continues to rise is the lawn care industry.
Typical startup capital for these companies requires a push lawn mower, a mode of transportation,
and associated business licensing fees. A business

The Influences Of C. G. Jung
The Influences of C. G. Jung Carl Gustav Jung II was a psychiatrist whose theories of the mind
challenged the existing dogma. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche,
and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert
and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many
basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were
not conceived without external insight. Social, economic, and cultural influences upon Carl Jung
greatly affected his lifetime achievements and provided inspiration for many of his theories. Born
Carl Gustav Jung II on July 26, 1875, to Emilie Preiswerk and the pastor Paul Jung in Kesswil,
Switzerland, he was not without a notable ancestral background. Jung s paternal grandfather, Dr.
Med. Karl Gustav Jung I, an expatriate from Germany who engaged in liberal political agitation,
drew fame to himself upon moving to Switzerland when he reformed the University of Basel,
established moderate wealth, and participated in local government. (Bair 7 8). Carl Jung s
maternity was no less distinguished in its own right; both of Emilie Preiswerk s parents were
favorably regarded in their own community, though both were intensely superstitious, ascribing
mystical causes to their frequent visions, which were peculiar to the Preiswerk family. The
hereditary nature of these visions accounts for a set of Jung s

High Speed Rail ( Hsr )
Abstract High speed rail (HSR) is a rapidly expanding new transport mode all over the world and
is often described as the transport mode of the future . This paper discusses definitions of high
speed rail, provides an overview of high speed rail development in selected other countries and
regions. It then analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of HSR in several different aspects,
such as mobility, choice, environmental, safety, cost and regional feasibility. Based on the
opportunities presented by these features of HSR to learn, the article will provide
recommendations and conclusions regarding to the future development of HSR. Introduction
What is High Speed Rail? Although there is no universal and authoritative speed definition for
High Speed Rail (HSR), the threshold can be found in many administrations or official
organizations. For instance, the European Union defines HSR as: Separate lines built for speeds
of 250 kilometers per hour (kph) (150 mph), or Existing lines upgraded to speeds of 200 kph
(125 mph), or Upgraded lines whose speeds are constrained by circumstances such as topography
or urban development. High Speed Rail in the World The world s first high speed rail line,

The Effect of a Radiological Dispersion Device
The Effect a Radiological Dispersion Device The abundance of nuclear weapons or radiological
dispersal devices that terrorist groups have is perhaps one of the most terrifying threats to U.S.
security. Radiological dispersal devices (RDD) are also known as dirty bombs. They are made
of radioactive material combined with conventional explosives. They are intended to use
explosive strength to scatter radioactive material over a large area (Radiological Dispersal
Devices (RDD) / Dirty Bombs, 2009). Around the world, there are a lot of sources of radioactive
material that are not sheltered or not accounted for. Dishonest nations and terrorist groups can
get hold of these materials for dirty bombs. These volatile weapons may primarily kill a few
people in the direct area of the blast but are utilized primarily to create psychological rather than
physical damage by stirring up panic and terror. Their utilization would also consequence in
expensive cleanup for decontamination (Radiological Dispersal Devices (RDD) / Dirty Bombs,
2009). Typically, an RDD would be utilized to inflict psychological effects, rather than to achieve a
military or strategic goal. A military use might be area denial, where an RDD is employed to
contaminate an area to dissuade an enemy force from occupying that area. The psychological
effects like expectation, terror, over reaction and training costs are much more effective than actual
use, therefore the appeal to terrorist groups in conjunction with

Art Analysis Of Thomas P. Anshutz s A Rose
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a
canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during
1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my
search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North
America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art s collection and is on display
in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman
from 1880 to 1910.
I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark background
caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be interesting.
The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark
but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an
orange carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens
and blues. The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears
to be a cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with
detailed designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose
can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering
in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on

In the accounting world, one s qualifications, expertise, and reputations are extremely important
aspects and should all be taken into consideration when choosing a firm.
Larger (often National or international) CPA firms have acquired many smaller firms. Why might a
large organization consider purchasing an accounting firm such as Abernethy and Chapman? Why
might Abernethy and Chapman agree to be acquired? Are such mergers good for the auditing
profession, generally speaking?
Abernethy and Chapman are desirable because they have a steady clientele and continue to
generate revenues leaving them with a net income that is favorable. Often companies will merge
with another company in an effort to avoid bankruptcy, consolidate services, or expand. Over the
years, we ve seen many big name firms merge with others. Acquisitions and mergers are
becoming a trend due to the number of partner retirements and the lack of succession plans.
(Sinkin and Putney, 2013) Firms such as Abernethy and Chapman might agree to an acquisition
because it is often the most cost effective way for them to increase cash flow and continue to be
successful. Mergers can either be a success or a failure. When you merge organizations, you are
also merging personalities which can often lead to conflict; however, merging the different levels
of expertise could be beneficial to a firm. Ultimately, I believe that merging firms will create

The Enlightenment And The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a change in the hearts and minds of men. It left a significant impact on the
world we know today and gave us great men to remember. The Enlightenment was a intellectual
movement that brought change to the views of Christianity, the importance of reason, the
understanding of nature and humanity, and the equality of man. Those of the later will be the
focus of this paper. Curiosity for understanding the natural world led to new scientific exploration
as well as new discoveries. The philosophical aspects of the period made their way into effecting
politics from its time and on. The Age of Enlightenmentbegan in the early 17th century and
officially continued into the 18th century. The movement at the time held high praise for
intellectual developments made with its roots in reason. This was so much so that the movement
was also known as the Age of Reason. This basis that the world and humanity could be bettered
through the application of reason spread from the influence of Greek philosophy1. Greek
philosophy played a role in the development of Scholasticism, which was the questioning of
scholarly Christians trying to solve new philosophical questions2.

The Model Of Organizational Therapy
There are many different conceptual models available to occupational therapists today. These
include the Canadian model of occupational performance and engagement (CMOP E), the Model of

The focus of this essay will mainly be on the MOHO. The occupational therapyprocess is the client

Pros And Cons Of Millennials
In today s world, millennials consistently want to take the easy way out for everything. It seems
such an easy way for them to accomplish things a lot quicker, yet they find they have a much
higher rate of making mistakes. This idea happens so much that it is starting to affect their school
work, causing them to not get as high of grades as they want or need. For years professors have

and cons, but only one has been shown to improve a students learning ability. Typing notes has
shown to be favored by these millennials. This is because they tend to take short cuts in attempt to
minimize time spent on everyday tasks and typing overall decreases the amount of effort applied.
According to Plaza College, a reason students chose typed notes over handwritten is because of the

Amusing Ourselves To Death Summary
Neil Postman s book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, discusses how the media has altered the world.
The book, written in 1985, applies to the twenty first century regarding how television, computers,

is to entertain. Another example is Sesame Street (Postman 144). Sesame Street encourages
children to start their learning at a very young age, and learn from a place outside of school. The

learn from Sesame Street they begin to think that all learning should be fun and entertaining. Then,
when kids enter school and the learning there is not the same as TV, they are upset and become
way harder to teach. When people are surrounded by a world of entertainment, they begin to think
that everything should be amusing. The world is changing into a complete form of

She found a school that was better than the one she was at then. That was an interesting change for me. I was just 3 years old and I loved the cold and snow. Our time in Florida did not last long. The difference in weather really did not affect my life as much then others because I like colder weather a beater then hot weather. The public interest in fraud investigation encouraged the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to host a two hour online fraud conference on CompuServe on 19 June 1996 featuring David L. Landsittel, Chair of the AICPA s Fraud Task Force, and Edmund R. Noonan, Chair of the Auditing Standards Board (AICPA, 1996a). The conference discussed the proposed Statement on Auditing Standards, Consideration of Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit . Many groups in society expect accountants to assume a more active role in providing reasonable assurance regarding responsible corporate governance, reliable financial reporting, and detecting and preventing fraudulent financial activities. Reform movements pursue changes that will implement the existing value scheme more adequately. Reform because the pro prison reform initiatives aim at allocating funding from prisons and jails to education, rehabilitation, and job skill programs that actually save the society billions of dollars a year and educate felons so they are most likely not to reoffend. Most of the recidivists are of African American or Hispanic ethnic background and between the ages of 17 25 and lack education and or skills needed to meet our labor force. With the cost of an average inmate at $53,000 in MA versus the $20,000 average cost of participating in rehab programs aimed at deterring criminally aimed lives. The clash over resources and values is what struck this growing social change for recidivism. Resources being monetary factor in incarceration and the value of prison. We incarcerate and place people in the same environment we are trying to release them from and they have no institutional programs aimed at solving this issue of recidivism. The value as pointed out by the federal government is the notions that if the government doesn t start hiring felons or ex cons how do they suppose that others will take on the same practice. No one left behind is the model of the USA and is the main reason that we cant outcast our felons. President Obama issued an executive order to combat this social problem demanding that all federal agencies are prohibited of asking for ones criminal record before the offer of employment. Only when a job is offered, is the time when a felon is supposed to disclose such information. This will lead us into a new era of reducing recidivism as a society and lower crime rate in urban areas of the States. These characters go through the same things that teenagers go through. Sometimes, they wish that they could go through those awesome things that happen to those fictional characters. However, shows like the Jerry Springer Show, aren?t or shouldn?t be watched by teenagers, because it forces a way of being and thinking into their minds. He infers that the saw has a mind of its own, by stating that the saw jumped out of the boy s hand and cut the boy s hand terribly. Frost also makes it seem as if the saw is in a way, like a friend. He does this by demonstrating that using the saw is an advantage for the boy because it is making his job ten times easier. Without the saw, the boy would spend hours cutting through the wood. 2. In Frost s poem, the people that surround the boy must be his family. It could also very much be friends, or members of his community, along with the doctor and nurses working on his injury. Offred relies on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is sneaking a look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch at what arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor, she remains indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers sympathy. This would suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of the individual, it is the individual themselves. The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance of retaining individualism in society. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not conceived without external insight.
