A Conclusion For An Essay
Crafting a conclusion for an essay may initially seem like a straightforward task, but as one
delves into the process, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies in not only
summarizing the key points and reiterating the thesis but also in providing a sense of closure that
resonates with the reader. Striking the right balance between brevity and completeness is
essential, avoiding the pitfall of repetition or introducing new information.
The difficulty intensifies when attempting to instill a lasting impression in the reader's mind. A
compelling conclusion should go beyond mere repetition and offer a fresh perspective or a
thought-provoking insight. Crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impact requires careful
consideration of the essay's overarching theme and a seamless integration of ideas to create a
cohesive and resonant final paragraph.
Furthermore, the challenge is to avoid sounding formulaic or clichГ©d. A generic conclusion can
undermine the overall quality of the essay, making it imperative to inject originality and
creativity into the closing remarks. Striking the right emotional tone is also crucial, ensuring that
the reader feels a sense of satisfaction and closure without feeling manipulated or coerced.
In essence, writing a conclusion for an essay demands a synthesis of skills in summarization,
synthesis, and rhetorical finesse. It requires a keen understanding of the essay's purpose and an
ability to encapsulate the main ideas in a way that lingers in the reader's mind. The process
involves a delicate balancing act that can be challenging for even the most seasoned writers.
For those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of crafting a conclusion, seeking
assistance is a viable option. Similar essays and a wealth of writing support can be accessed
through platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professional guidance is available to navigate
the complexities of essay writing and deliver a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression.

Death, Be Not Proud, By John Donne
Death and mortality are common themes widely used throughout poetry and other
numerous works of literature. As well as this, death is a common occurrence in life,
and though most people refuse to accept or acknowledge it, everyone must deal with
it at some point in their lifetime. Whether it be the deathof a family member, friend,
or the final stages of your own life you will experience death in some way. In the
poems, Death, be not proud and Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, the
speakers possess two similar ideas of just what death is. Death, be not proud is a
poem written by John Donneand maintains a direct approach to the coming of death.
Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, is another poem discussing death and
mortality, written by Dylan Thomas, and reflects his somewhat more defiant attitude
towards death. In both poems, the themes of death and mortality, though constant,
are written about in different ways. In Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night,
by Dylan Thomas, the speaker has a very resistant view of death and believes the
reader should as well. The poem begins as the speaker is talking to an unknown
person and telling them do not go gentle into that good night. The repeated phrase is
used throughout the poem as a reinforcement of the idea that we should not simply
accept death. Instead, the speaker suggests that we be angry towards the idea of
dying, and is shown by use of the phrase rage, rage against the dying of the light. The

Calvin Coolidge Essay
CALVIN COOLIDGE
John Calvin Coolidge, thirtieth President of the United States, was a quiet but brave
man. His primary focus was on domestic issues within the United States. His
childhood was hard, he pulled through and his life was a mirror of his strength.
Calvin Coolidge did great things which were reflected in his personal life, his
political upbringing, and his presidency until his death.
Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872, in Plymouth Notch, Virginia. He was
named after his father whom he greatly admired (Sobel, 20). Calvin was a small,
skinny boy with vibrant red hair. His hair gave him the nickname Red, which many
school friends called him. He had a sister named Abigail, who was born in 1875.

Coolidge was a good student, making high grades and applying himself diligently.
He often took long walks just to think and ponder things he had learned (Sobel, 25,
26, 28, 32, 33). In 1890, Coolidge proudly graduated from Black River Academy. He
had no idea what his future had for him (Lawerence). He entered Amherst University
in September of 1891 around the time his father married his stepmother (Sobel, 31).
He learned many languages such as Greek, Latin, French, and German (Greenburg,
18). He eventually graduated from Amherst University unsure of what to do next.
Grace Goodhue worked at the Clarke Institute for the Deaf as a teacher. It was
there that she met her future husband. Their love grew rapidly and on October 4,
1905 they got married in her parents home (Lawerence). She was perfect for him,
his opposite in everything (Sobel, 247). They later had two sons, John Coolidge,
and Calvin Jr. Coolidge, who he loved dearly (Greenburg, 22). In 1924, Calvin Jr.
had a simple accident in tennis and got a simple blister which slowly became
infected. He was rushed to the hospital, but a day later he had died. Calvin Jr. had
died at the age of sixteen. It was at this time when people saw Coolidge as a father
not the President of the United States. This did not stop Coolidge from pursuing his
dream, he kept on going (Sobel, 295, 296, 298).
Calvin Coolidge came out of college not knowing what to do next. His father,
Fa Mu Lan No Name Woman
The No Name Woman is a failure in Chinese society, but starkly contrasted by the
success and fulfillment of traditional expectations demonstrated in the woman
warrior, Fa Mu Lan. In the second section of Kingston s account, White Tiger, the
author controversially develops her own retelling of this famous myth with
herself as the legendary Chinese figure. Kingston initiates this section stating,
when we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if
we grew up to be but wives or slaves (Kingston 19). The words of her elders
engrained in Kingston and her female peers their place of women, enslaved to their
husbands and bound to housework. Yet Kingston does not accept this reality and
instead plunges into a powerful tale of a female who not only overcomes gender
roles but is the champion of the entire Chinese nation. Fa Mu Lan is a swordswoman,
who utilizes her physical and magical training to cause social justice. Despite her
occupations with valor and justice, however, Kingston s character also finds time to
nurture a child and attend the domestic duties traditionally assigned to women, a
challenge to ancient stereotypes and an affirmation of modern ideas of women
balancing families with their careers. Similarly, the weapons Kingston yields are her
words and the truth of her experience she artfully relates.

Visual Elements In The Film Casablanca
The film, Casablanca, focuses on Rick, who faces lost love, honor and duty, self
sacrifice, and romance, all within a world currently filled with chaos. The bar
scene, where Rick drinks alone after his club closes, represents the sadness he feels
after encountering an old acquaintance Ilsa Lund, his former lover. During the
scene, Sam plays As Time Goes by again, the searchlight circles around the club,
and Rick thinks about the past, just before Ilsa comes to see and talk to him. The
mise en scГЁne of the bar scene following Laszlo and Ilsa leaving Rick s nightclub
illustrates the shift of Rick s former character to the man the audience currently sees.
Casablanca contains brilliant visual elements. It is a romantic drama that takes
place during World War II, in a city controlled by France called Casablanca. The
city is filled with refugees who are trying to escape to the United States, dealers
selling letters of transit, and French and German officials. In the beginning of the
bar scene, Rick says, Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks
into mine. This incorporates the idea of coincidence in the film. In an essay written by
Bordwell and Thompson, The later in the film a coincidence occurs, the weaker it
is; and it is very unlikely that the story will be resolved by coincidence (13). It

In the film, World War II occurs while Rick and Ilsa were together in Paris. When
the German soldiers invades and the couple separate, they believe they will not see
each other again until they met again at Rick s nightclub. This is an example of how
present historical events can disturb the characters lives in the film. The war has
completely altered the conditions of their
Why Did The Watergate Scandal
In the early 1970 s, President Richard Milhous Nixon was a popular president
among many people in the United States. However, he managed to change the view
of the American government for the worse. Stealing documents from his rival
party, covering up his actions over and over again. And finally getting caught of his
actions, a distrust of their government by their citizens was created. But how had it
occurred? Why did Nixon do this? Why did he cover it up over and over again?
What steps and actions had led to Nixon s resignation? Because of the Watergate
Scandal, the American citizens understood that the American Government can be
deceiving to its citizens.
It all started on June 17, 1972. Five men had been arrested at 2:30 AM in the
Watergate Hotel (Lewis). At that time, Watergate was the location of the offices of
the Democratic National Committee (The Watergate Story). The five men, Frank A
Sturgis, Eugenio R. Martinez, Virgilio Gonzalez, Bernard L. Barker, and James W.
McCord were the burglars. James McCord, Being the most notable man out of the
bunch, was a former CIA and FBI agent. At the time of the break in, he was also part
of the Republican National Committee and the Committee for the Reelection of the
President. However the day after the break in, he was dismissed from both
committees (Fama). But because of James connection to these ... Show more content

Many people developed a distrust in their government. Robert Thompson, a Syracuse
University professor states, When the smoke cleared in the Watergate scandal, we
had been blatantly lied to by our highest officials. That changed us. Daniel P. Finney,
a reporter for USA Today says, It [Watergate] dented Americans faith in their
government and tainted public servants with a distrust. Dennis Goldford, a political
science professor at Drake University states, The myth of the president as always a
great, trustful, moral leader ended.
Money Is Not Able For Buy Happiness
There are various instances where the novel Sister Carrie presents the idea that money
is not able to buy happiness. Carrie, the protagonist of the novel, attempts to use
money to create happiness in her life, but throughout her journey she finally starts to
realize that her happiness cannot be constantly associated with wealth. This theme is
supported through the actions and words of the protagonist. The protagonist, Carrie,
is the main characterin the story. Many specific lines in the novel indicate that
Carrie is not satisfied with how she is living her life. I believe the reason she is not
truly happy is because up until this point in her life, she has been certain that her
happiness relies strictly on how much money she possesses. She has focused every
part of her life on making the most money, including her love life. The theme is
discussed most frequently towards the end because this is the realization point in
the novel. Sister Carrie presents the idea that money cannot buy happiness. We can
see this in the novel through the actions of the protagonist. The literary element that
helps support the theme of the novel is the actions and words of the protagonist. A
protagonist is commonly used to refer to the hero or heroine in a story, poem,
novel, play, or film (Barton 167). There is not a hero in the novel but a protagonist
may be the main character without providing to be a hero or a heroine (Barton 167).
In Sister Carrie the main character is Carrie, hence her

The impact of these resources we have available are inevitable, since they are all
around us, and every day society gets more updated. Thank you for being late, gave
me a better understanding of digital technology and its effect on society. Artificial
Intelligence has come a long way since it started, and will keep prospering as the
digital age keeps innovating. Which relates to Moore s Law regarding how the
speed of rate for computer processing will double every two years, and how I can
apply it to my personal life. Programs, and the digital age will continue to develop,
and modernize which is why I have to adapt to my surroundings as best as I can.
As well as use the tools and resources the digital age have given me in order to be
successful in my future career. I have to keep up to date with the new software,
and opportunities that technology brings, because even if you do not make use of
them, they will not stop evolving. As Friedman concludes in the book, times
change faster than we realize, and that is why we as individuals and nations have
to adapt by being innovative, open to change, and taking a moment to shut out the
rest of the world, and acknowledging our surroundings and giving value to it. I
would recommend this book to any of my friends, and to anyone in my generation
since it is a book that addresses the present and all of the digital changes that we as
a society have been going through, Specifically, the next generation, as Friedman
states is the generation that is: going to be asked to dance in a hurricane
(Friedman). In conclusion, it is an eye opening and insightful guide towards
technology and the effect it is bringing to us, with a silver lining in the end of how
we can actually overcome it, and how we can strive in the society and era we live
Double Standard In The Odyssey

Women s double standard In Homer s The Odyssey woman have a double standard
and a great example is Penelope s story. She spends years being alone awaiting her
husbands return after the trojan war. She is a great wife, a great mother, she is also
very wise and intelligent. Most of all her greatest quality is that she is very faithful.
Despite many people wanting to marry her and many telling her that her husband s
dead she still remains loyal to Odysseus. Although Odysseus has a loyal wife he
views women as sluts and men as noble. In order for a man to be considered a
good, heroic and strong, men is to have sex with lots of women but if a woman has
sex with a lot of men she is a slut and horrible. Medusa is a great representation as a
monstrous woman in The Odyssey. In order for men to have sex with a lot of
women, a lot of women have to have sex with men. So in order for men to reach
manliness women have to fail at womanliness. I think that Homer s double standard
on women is pretty much unfair.
Penelope was very intelligent and faithful and able to avoid any men who came to
visit and stood in her home. They wanted to take the place as the new king taking
advantage of Odysseus absence. Penelope although it was at a disadvantage by not
having anyone in your family with her, obviously not without her husband, only the
company of his son, who became one of his excuses to send the suitors and avoid any

Some ways you might earn a little information from a person as well as obtaining

research on learning about this drug. Researching data will help you not only build
a better understanding of the medication but it will help you teach your patients
about it along with make sure they absolutely understand the information. I learned
that not everyone retains information the same. Some patients like to have
handouts but some need hands on teaching. Knowing more facts about your
patient is always key to a successful training along with a successful patient
provider relationship. Lithium Carbonate is not typically prescribed to many
people. Lithium, being a dangerous drug can result in a risk of potential toxicity.
This drug has to be closely monitored by having labs done every 3 months to
prevent toxicity. In order to be prescribed Lithium Carbonate you have to be seen
someone in behavioral health vs. by your family doctor. After someone has been
on a medication for a few years they tend to let slip from memory the serious
adverse effects along with patient teaching. It is always valuable to just review the
basic teaching. When prescribing a drug, you will know the side effects for that
drug, but you also need to know the drug interactions it will have on other drugs if
someone is taking multiple

The Flaws of Prison Labor Essay
The Flaws of Prison Labor
The debate over prison labor has existed as long as the concept it s self. Opponents
claim that it exploits prisoners, takes away jobs from the general population, and
puts people in danger by allowing convicts access to their personal information.
While supporters of prison labor argue that it helps the economy as well as benefits
prisoners. On this issue I stand on the side of the supporters. By having prisoners
work we are accomplishing several beneficial things. First, work keeps them occupied
and out of trouble, instead of getting into confrontations with other inmates, they are
actually doing something productive. Second, by working they are alleviating some
of the high costs of keeping them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been found that when fully trained...inmate workers leave prison, they carry
with them credentials of achievement in job skills that meet requirements of today
s business. In addition, the money that they earn carries several benefits; it can be
used to buy daily amenities which will make their life in prison a little more
pleasurable, they can also save money that will be extremely useful when they are
released. Thus, not only are prisoners kept out of trouble by working, the money
they earn benefits them in the present, as it will in the future and eases the burden
on society that comes with housing prison inmates. The ideal purpose of
incarceration is to have the guilty pay for their crimes and at the same time correct
their criminal behavior. However the reality is very far from the ideal, inmates
literally rot in jail until they are released just to return soon after and keep the never
ending cycle going. So one useful way inmates can pay their debt to society is by
prison labor. When inmates are working a percentage of their wages is withheld and
that money goes to house inmates and run prisons, thus relieving the economic
burden of the government and taxpayers. Since these people committed the crimes,
there is no reason why the entire society should support them. Having inmates
contribute to the costs, especially when it benefits the prisoners as well is a great
way to reduce spending

Duality Vs Cliques
Has anyone ever noticed that everyone has two different sides? It can be the good
side, or the bad side it can be the gossip side, or a different side, but every one has
two, or more sides no matter what. For example, it happens a lot in cliques there can
be a person that is in the popular clique. One day they all are talking about how they
hate science, but someone in the clique actually likes science. However that person
does not say anything about it because they do not want to be bullied about it. Days
latter that person is hanging out with the clique that likes science. That is an
example of how someone can have two sides. Even adults can have two different
sides for instance, one day they are talking to their friend on the phone, and... Show

According to Dictionary.com duality means an instance of opposition or contrast
between two concepts or aspects of something. Robert Louis Stevenson states man
is not truly one, but truly two . What does he mean by this? For example, one day
someone meets someone and that person looks perfectly fine, but the other person
does not really know how the other person feels, or what the other person has gone
threw. In reality that person has been living there whole life full of hatred scared
to hurt someone till one day someone bothers that person, and that person reacts in
a very bad manner because the other person was bothering the other person and
does something wrong that no one would expect from that person. Then no one
can believe what that person did is true because that person had never done
anything bad in there whole life. This is what duality means to robert louis
stevenson. Everyone has to accept who they are what they do, how they feel, and
how they think. If someone has a bad side they should not hide it they should just
accept that part of them and learn to live with it because if they hide it and they try
to put it away and one day the bad side takes over the person and that person
explodes in front of everyone then every one would have a very different
perspective of that person.. However if that person learns how to control their bad
side and live with it then they will not have to hide that part of
Hardin Living On A Lifeboat Summary
To begin with, Hardin s essay Living on a Lifeboat expresses fear of over
population by comparing nations to life boats, since they both have limited
carrying capacities. For instance, Hardin asks the question, Would you fill a life
boat at its maximum capacity with another 100 people? Specifically, Hardin
mentions the loss of land and how we have been historically living on capital such
as stored petroleum and coal, and now we must depend on income alone (Hard
857). Basically, Hardin s core thesis is that we do not have moral obligations to the
poor. To break down Hardin s approach, he critiques multiple approaches to this
problem of ensuring economic will being for everyone. First, he mentions the
Marxist and Christian approaches which would lead to complete social justice, but
also complete catastrophe, since the lifeboat in his example would drown due to
overcapacity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
858). By doing this, Hardin is postulating that collective economic growth and
safety are more desirable than an economy based on moral obligations and equality.
To support his claims, Hardin then moves on to the dangers of population growth.
Indeed, Hardin draws parallels between a lifeboat and high rates of population
growth, since the current population rise globally would make it difficult to provide
for everyone in the U.S or in poorer countries. To expand, Hardin is critiquing
globalism, since he finds it impossible for the U.S or developing nations to be the life
boat supporting nations with high population growth rates. According to Hardin,
there is simply not enough recourses and too much population growth to live
according to a Marxist or Christian ethic of equality. To expand, Hardin s main
critique of the Marxist Christian theory is that it does not take into account human
selfishness and cannot be sustainable to growing populations
Argumentative Essay On Hiroshima
Seventy one years ago, on a bright cloudless morning, death fell from the sky and
the world was changed. A flash of light and a wall of fire destroyed a city and
demonstrated that mankind possessed the means to destroy itself. Why do we
come to this place, to Hiroshima? We come to ponder a terrible force unleashed in
a not so distant past. We come to mourn the dead, including over 100,000 Japanese
men, women and children, thousands of Koreans, a dozen Americans held prisoner.
Their souls speak to us. They ask us to look inward, to take stock of who we are and
what we might become. It is not the fact of war that sets Hiroshima apart. Artifacts
tell us that violent conflict appeared with the very first man. Our early ancestors
having learned to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nations arise telling a story that binds people together in sacrifice and cooperation,
allowing for remarkable feats. But those same stories have so often been used to
oppress and dehumanize those who are different. Science allows us to
communicate across the seas and fly above the clouds, to cure disease and
understand the cosmos, but those same discoveries can be turned into ever more
efficient killing machines. The wars of the modern age teach us this truth.
Hiroshima teaches this truth. Technological progress without an equivalent progress
in human institutions can doom us. The scientific revolution that led to the
splitting of an atom requires a moral revolution as well. That is why we come to
this place. We stand here in the middle of this city and force ourselves to imagine
the moment the bomb fell. We force ourselves to feel the dread of children confused
by what they see. We listen to a silent cry. We remember all the innocents killed
across the arc of that terrible war and the wars that came before and the wars that
would

Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners
Point of view (the perspective from which a story is told) has a significant role in
how the characters and events in a given story are analyzed. The readers response
to the literature depends greatly on the position of the author and/or narrator;
whether he is on the outside looking in, or vise versa. The use of point of view also
allows the author to convey a certain message or belief by allowing for other literary
elements such as irony and sympathy . The point of view in literature is one of the
central focuses for interpretation. Dubliners, by James Joyce is an outstanding
example of how the use of point of view influences how characters and events are
interpreted. Joyce writes the first three stories of Dubliners in the first person point
of view, the rest are told in there person. Taking a look at a few of the short stories ,
Araby , Eveline , and Clay , it is obvious that Joyce s choice of narration as well as
the complexity of how he carries out those narrations plays a significant role in the
analysis of his work.
Araby is told in first person, from the point of view of the protagonist. Despite the
first person narration in Araby , Joyce does little to convince readers that the story is
told from a boy s perspective. On the contrary, actually, the narratorseemingly has the
maturity of a man certainly beyond the experience of the narrator of the story. Joyce
s way of narrating this story gives readers the ability to clearly identify the distress
that
Maggio Little Italian Immigration To American Culture...
The Italian population in America originally emigrated from the southern half of the
Italian peninsula. The people of this region were peasants and had experienced great
economic hardships under the rule of the Spanish and then the Italian government
and nobles from the north. It was these economic hardships that formed much of their
culture. According to Maggio (2015) Italians from the southern region felt a strong
obligation to their families and did not trust outsiders. As Italian families began
immigrating to America they had a difficult time assimilating into American culture
because of their mistrust of outsiders and their desire to maintain their family
traditions. Maggio (2015) stated that Little Italys began in several major

The rapid changes taking place in emerging markets, combined with the fact that
existing fixed line networks are often underdeveloped, offer persuasive reasons to
believe that systems will be developed that can facilitate wealth creation and
genuinely transform people s lives in the poorest parts of the region. Ultimately, the
evolution of mobile payments systems has the potential to allow global organisations
to access a far wider market, including people in previously hard to access locations.
The caveat is, of course, that issues of trust, security and affordability also need to be
overcome. This report explores the recent developments in the context of these
significant challenges. Mobile payments are necessitating new forms of interaction
between telecoms companies, financial institutions, software and content providers.
As in any supply chain, it is important to understand the processes and security
capabilities of other parties in the relationship. It is even more important when
potentially sensitive or personal information is flowing between these parties.
Ultimately, the adoption of mobile payments will therefore depend on, and be driven
by, consumer confidence. In this respect, all of the participants within each respective
business model needs to share some responsibility for its successful adoption. seung

My Experience To Play Basketball
It was the month. The month the basketball tryouts came for me.I was ready to
play basketball for my school. So I woke up at 5 a.m. and went down stairs to get a
smooth, red colored apple to eat while I practiced my basketball outside but, then I
noticed that I had to study for my global studies test.So then I quietly walk back in
my house.
Then it happened in the livingroom when I first came in through the front door, What
are you doing up at this time shouldn t you be sleeping for school? , Mom exclaimed.
Mom I am coming in quietly from practicing basketball when I realized that I have
to study for my global studies test today .I said.I thought that everyone was sleeping
and that it was only me that was up this early.
Okay but,don t wake up this early then make a lot of noises when there are people
sleeping .Mom said.
Although I got in trouble my mom let me stay up and study my study guide. My
mom quietly walk back to her room and then I went to the kitchen to get something
to eat.I went back to study more but,I am scared that I am going to fail this test.I
hope don t because if I do get low grade I wouldn t be able to play on the basketball
team.So I am trying to get all the facts I need to know in my mind to be able to pass
with a big fat A+ on Friday s test.
I want to keep on studying but,I also wanted to practice basketball for the tryouts on
tomorrow afternoon.I tried hurry up the paste to get through the studying and back to
the basketball. Then I heard something next to the stairs. It was my sister coming
down for some water in the refrigerator.
What are you doing this early in the morning ,My sister asked.
Studying for my globals studies test on Friday ,I said.Wait what was she doing up at
this time when it is 6 a.m in the morning when she only gets up 2 hours later?
And what are you doing up at this time ,I questioned.
I came down for some water ,My sister said.
My sister went back up to go back to sleep.A few minutes later it was already time
for me to brush my teeth and get ready for school. So I quickly ran up stairs and
rushed to the bathroom but of course my sister was in the bathroom getting ready for
school. Why she in the bathroom when she knows I have to get ready for school before
The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Essay
The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne The House of the Seven
Gables is a romantic novel set in a grand and rustic, old house with seven gables in
New England town. The story opens with its history, beginning in the 1690 s, when
witch hunting was rampant. Afterwards, it revolves around the course of one
summer in the 1850 s. At his housewarming party, Colonel Pyncheon, the socially
noted owner of the house was mysteriously found dead in one of the rooms.
Although he was highly esteemed for his wealth and high position, legend has it that
he usurped the land on which his house stood from a poor fellow named Matthew
Maule. Maule was a nobody. Furthermore, he was rumored to be practicing... Show

Techniques With Language, The Cut Up Method And
Permutation
Brion Gysin created two techniques with language, the cut up method and
permutation. The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections,
rearrange said sections and then read the product. The rearrangement of the sections
in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an outlook that could not be
generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is discovered in
something already familiar to us.
Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. It is
by my affirmation that Brion Gysin s intention behind creating The Cut Up Method
was to show language could be used like a tool to extract new meaning, depending on
an individual s subconscious.
Brion Gysin

experience that we get to hear other music and see the effect that music not only has
for us but other people. I had the abilities to sit next to other people and hear one of
the most wonderful piece of music that was created by the artist which made me feel
mature and accepted into the music world. Before I sat and let the concert start I got

Another thing I appreciate from the concert is the transition from the different tome
of song and the different sounding they would create also. The rich legacy of
traditional Afro Haitian rhythms and melodies, and blends them with the
instrumentation, melodic/harmonic sensibilities and improvisation of modern jazz. I
could not really explain the lyric and the song being played because it is not what I
usually hear but know the language, the main point of the songs that was being play
were about love, inner soul, and tribute to our country and culture Haiti and many
others as well. The history in this concert brought my attention to something quite
similar that is called Rara. Rara is the music played throughout Kanaval, an
anarchic folk meets punk collision of drums, voices and bamboo sticks which all
creates an exciting, energizing soundtrack to Kanaval in Haiti. Rara bands tour the
countryside for days at a time accosting people, car drivers and anyone in their way,
demanding payment before they move on and the crowd of musicians and singers
gets bigger all the time. I remember seeing this event that happened every year when
The Causes Of The Gas Exchange In Humans
Gas exchange takes place at the respiratory surface which is a boundary between
the external environment and the interior of the body. Respiratory surface is a cell
membrane for the gas exchange of unicellular organisms but for the large organisms
it has specialise organs like lungs, gills or trachea. Gas exchange is the exchange of
gases across a semipermeable membrane via the process of diffusion, This occurs
across cell membranes (from inside the lungs to blood stream then from out of the
blood, into the cells, into the mitochondria). Gas exchange involves the respiration
and breathing. Respiration is the process of combining oxygenwith glucose to make
energy into the form of ATP. This occurs inside the cells at the mitochondria.
Breathing is the physical action of moving air into and out of the body or water
over the surface of the gills. This occurs as a whole body or organ movement. We
need gas exchange because all animals carry out respiration to release energy from
the food. This process require oxygen gas and release of carbon dioxidegas. This
means animals, must have an efficient system to obtain the oxygen from the
atmosphere or water and to remove the carbon dioxide from their body. This provide
us with oxygen for respiration process, efficient exchange of gases and allow
diffusion of gases.
Diffusion is required to supply all organisms with oxygen. Factors affecting the rate
of diffusion is the surface area therefore for the efficient of diffusion to
Intercultural Communication As A Form Of
Communication...
Intercultural communication can be defined as a form of communication between
individuals or groups of different languages and cultural origins (Lanqua 2015).
This review will summarize Scollon, R, Scollon, S; Jones, R.H. (2011) and briefly
detail two other readings, one by Blommaert, J (2013) and another by Vertovec, S.
(2010). The first reading, details multiple ways culturecan be defined and how others
can interpret communication. The second reading outlines the challenges, which is
presented by Superdiversity with an understanding of citizenship. Lastly the final
reading summarizes and outlines the changing contexts surrounding multiculturalism
and discusses that we may be shifting into a post multiculturalism world.
Whilst constructing this review multiple factors had to be considered, which were:
Identifying the main points within the article.
Identify the arguments authors are putting forward if there are any.
How are the authors defining Intercultural Communications?
What valid points are being made?
Are there any ideas being shown and if there is what are they
And lastly if there are any similarities between each of the readings.
The factors stated above were used to construct the following review of the three
readings; these factors will be detailed within the main article and briefly analyzed
within the other two.

Biblical References In Glory By Gwen Bristow
Gwen Bristow uses biblical references throughout the novel Celia Garth to
express her strong faith in God. One example is when the wind changes directions to
prevent the British from getting into Charleston bay. Another biblical reference
regarding the amount of British troops against Marion and his men is largely
favored for the British to win, however the Americans were still victorious against
the British. Also when Celia felt lonesome and like she had nothing to live for, Luke
was brought back into Celia s life. Do things happen unforeseen, or is there some
kind of higher power? Bristow believes in God and displays strong faith by
expressing it through her writhing by using biblical references.

Even though Marion s men presented faith and
fearlessness, they were wore out and outnumbered. Marion knew this and even said
were not strong enough to meet Cornwallis in open battle (Bristow 279) . This
situation in the book represents the biblical allusion David and Goliath. David and
Goliath is a classic story in the bible about people doubting the capabilities of David
but he conquers them and Goliath just like Marion s men conquering the British and
the Tories who doubted them. You come against me with a sword, spear and
javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord almighty(1 Samuel 17:45) .
Marion s men did the same as David, they didn t come at the British with brut
strength and numbers, but faith.
Bristow expresses God s love and intimacy when Celia feels as if is a outcast
in the world. When Celia was in a bottomless depression God brings back Her good
friend and soon to be husband Luke. Luke ask Celia to become a spy for Marion and
his men. When Luke ask Celia if she was interested and she said what do you think

Advantages Of Tourism Essay
Theme: Tourism
A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam
Pushparani Anthony and fellow friends. In this wonderful morning, I would like to
give a talk on Tourism . In my speech, I am going to share with you some
information on the beauty of Malaysia and the advantages and the disadvantages of
tourism towards the development of Malaysia. Basically, tourism is a practice of
travelling for pleasure especially on one s holidays. It is an organized journey
where several places are visited. When it reaches the time to decide the location
for your holiday, most probably you will be choosing a foreign country such as
Korea, Japan, China or European countries like Germany, France, United Kingdom
and Italy. Since we are born in Malaysia and have been living here for years, it is
understandable why most of us willing to choose foreign country as the destination
for our holidays trip instead of domestic tourism. It is true that you may be
experience a whole different culture and lifestyle in others counties, but do not forget,
Malaysia is also one of the most beautiful and fascinating tourism destinations of
South East Asia. As we already knew, Malaysia has a multi ethnic, multicultural and

a useful way to helps people to relax and keep themselves far away from stressful,
busy urban life. I am sure that all of us are waiting anxiously for the holiday, just to
escape ourselves somewhere in the mountains or on the island. I believe, just by
packing our luggage with family or friends, we can easily feel wonderful and
Argumentative Essay On School Shootings
There has been enormous controversy over school shootings and how to deal with
them. But if you really think about it, school shootings are a very minute part of a
huge problem in today s society. Governor of Kentucky, Matt Bevin s response to
gun violence was true and just. The root of the gun violence problem is a problem in
society. Governor Matt Bevin hit the root of America s gunproblem square on. It is
not a gun problem, it is a people problem. Gun violence did not just happen

No matter where you are you are exposed to violence. Almost every video game
today is full of violence. Yes, there is good, non violent video games, but the
majority of video games promote unsafe and inappropriate actions. Take Grand
Theft Auto for instance, it is chalked full of nothing but drugs, killing, and sex.
There are more and more movies that have violent and demoralizing material.
Music is more violent and sexual than ever. If you would actually read or listen to
the lyrics of most music today, you would realize how toxic it is to society. I am not
saying you should just listen to religious music. I am however, saying that you
should be wise and conscious of your choice in music. You may argue that that is
why we have age restrictions and content warnings on such material. Name me twenty
people that actually follow every single age and content restriction set forth in front
of them. Today we see violence as a form of entertainment and use it to capture the
attention of audiences. This is not okay!
Last Possible Parse Hypothesis
1.What are the first possible parse and last possible parse hypotheses? According to
Libben, if the process of prelexical parsing were a left to right parsing procedure, then
the first possible parse hypothesis would indicate the separation of the first
constituent. On the other hand, the last possible parse hypothesis would result in
separate activation. 2.What other alternative do the experiments test? The
experiments showed that none of hypothesis clarified prelexical parsing. Libben
strengthen his theory that prelexical parsing was supported by a recursive parsing
procedure. In the first experiment, Libben also tested constituent activation in
addition to the mechanisms of prelexical parsing. 3.Explain the... Show more content

The experiment consisted of ten trial practice sessions and an experimental session

speakers of English allocate first possible parse to ambiguous novel compounds.
4.What hypothesis did the results of the first experiment support? What was the role
of semantic plausibility? The result of the first experiment showed that parsing
choices are strongly connected with the semantic plausibility. That results support
Libben s hypothesis, which states that neither first possible parse nor last possible
parse characterize the prelexical parsing procedure. During the experiment there was
a connection between parsing choices and semantic plausibility ratings. 5.What
prediction was the second experiment designed to address? How was the procedure
altered? The second experiment is focused on semantic priming in accuracy
paradigm. The prediction it was designed to address is whether ambiguous novel
compounds facilitate recall accuracy to monomorphemic associates of both parsing
choices. The procedure was altered by adapting the morpheme recall task and by
having a pre or post primes compound
The Mayan Civilization And The Maya Empire
The Mayan civilization or the Maya Empire, centered in the tropical lowlands of what
is now Guatemala, reached the peak of its power and influence around the sixth
century A.D. The Maya excelled at agriculture, pottery, hieroglyph writing, calendar
making and mathematics, and left behind an astonishing amount of impressive
architecture and symbolic artwork. Most of the great stone cities of the Maya were
abandoned by A.D. 900. The Maya civilizationwas one of the most dominant
indigenous societies of Mesoamerica. Unlike other scattered indigenous populations
of Mesoamerica, the Maya were centered in one geographical block covering all of
the Yucatan Peninsula and modern day Guatemala; Belize and parts of the Mexican
states of Tabasco and Chiapas; and the western part of Honduras and El Salvador.
This concentration showed that the Maya remained relatively secure from invasion
by other Mesoamerican peoples.
Within that expanse, the Maya lived in three separate sub areas with distinct
environmental and cultural differences: the northern Maya lowlands on the Yucatan
Peninsula; the southern lowlands in the Peten district of northern Guatemala and
adjacent portions of Mexico, Belize and western Honduras; and the southern Maya
highlands, in the mountainous region of southern Guatemala. The earliest Maya
settlements date to around 1800 B.C., or the beginning of what is called the
Preclassic or Formative Period. The Middle Preclassic Period also saw the rise of the
first major
Analysis of the Music Industry
Music may be defined romantically as `the food of love (Shakespeare) or more
prosaically as `sound with particular characteristics (Wikipedia), but it is undeniably a
`vibrant artform (Arts Council England) and one which touches more people, in more
ways, than any other art form.
In commercial terms, music certainly generates a higher market value than the other
arts, although a comprehensive market size for music in all its manifestations is
impossible to calculate. Key Note has put a value of ВЈ3.03bn on consumer spending
on music in 2005, derived from three sectors: recorded music (which accounts for the
bulk of the market), live music and musical instruments. However, data for other
related markets are included, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each chapter of the report starts with more detailed definitions and coverage.
For coverage of recorded music, Key Note is grateful to the statistics and
commentary provided by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), detailed later in
this chapter under Key Trade Associations. For other sectors, an important
component of the report is the field research into the attitudes and buying habits of
UK consumers with regard to music, conducted for Key Note by NEMS Market
Research specifically for this report.
Report Background
This is the first edition of a Market Review of the Music Industry published by Key
Note. Although coverage is targeted mainly at the UK market, the global aspects of
the music industry are given full acknowledgment. In particular, it is recorded
music by far the largest market by value that has evolved a global structure. Since
2004, it has featured just four `majors owning dozens of famous labels and holding
recording contracts (or back catalogues) for the vast majority of the world s top
selling recording artists.
The `big four major groups, including the UK s own `home grown giant, EMI Group
PLC, also own rights to publish and to license the majority of successful songs, theme
music, etc. These rights are increasingly important as the market moves towards a
more fluid, ICT (information and communications technology)

takes in a boy, Roger, who tried to snatch her purse. The boy was in her studio

Mrs. Jones s kindness to Roger changed him because, it looked like he had no one

I Know That Sounds Like Digital Media And Advertising
I know that sounds like Digital Media has no center but of course that s not true:
there are rules (color, placement, context, intent, etc.), and as always, if you know
the rules you can either follow them or break them. Do either of them well and you
ll succeed. There are some concrete aesthetic guidelines you can follow to ensure
your imagery will please the eye. So let s talk about 3 of the major compositional
aesthetic theories, and how they function in Digital Media and advertising: 1. The
Rule of Thirds The Rule of Thirds basically says that if you divide any screen
(television/movie/computer/smartphone) into a grid of equal thirds, the eye is
naturally attracted to the 4 points on the grid where those lines intersect (this
rectangle is commonly referred to as The Golden Section). Look familiar? It
should: if you ve ever turned on the Grid function on your iPhone camera, then you
ve been using The Rule of Thirds for years. So, try using this grid when choosing
an image (most photo editing software programs have something like it, and you
can turn them on and off for easy A/B comparison), and see where those 4 points
land. What do you want people to focus on? And is it near one of those points? If
not, you can either crop the image differently or choose another, but the important
thing to think about is how you want your audience to respond to your imagery and
how you want their eye to travel. The Golden Section can be like a bulls eye for their
focus you can always
Ellison Onizuka Major Accomplishments
Ellison Onizuka was an Asian American astronaut that worked on the Discovery
and Challenger missions. He was born on June 24, 1946 in Kealakua, Hawaii. As a
child he picked coffee beans to make money for his family. He went to the
University of Colorado and was in their Air Force ROTC program and studied
aerospace engineering. Ellison Onizuka impacted space exploration by becoming
the first Asian American in space, working on the IUS on the Discovery mission,
and the tragic fate of the Challenger mission. Onizuka s first major accomplishment
was becoming the first Asian American in space. Onizuka became the first Asian
American in space in January of 1985 when he joined the crew of the Discovery
for the shuttle program s first Department of Defense mission (Encyclopedia.com,
2018). Onizuka was the type of person that never forgot where he came from. He
remembers being a little kid in Hawaii and dreaming of becoming an astronaut. He
feels he can have an impact on the next generation of young Hawaiians and
minorities around the world. That they can become something even when the odds
seem low. The trip made him the first astronaut from Hawaii as well as the first...

Onizuka was responsible for the primary payload activities, which included the
deployment of a modified Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) (Er.jsc.nasa.gov,2018). As a
payload specialist he was in charge of specific payloads, in this case the Inertial
Upper stage which is a booster rocket that sends satellites to deep space. This
mission also included the first department of defense payload. With the completion
of this flight he logged 74 hours in space (Er.jsc.nasa.gov,2018). This included 48
orbits around the Earth. Onizuka was in space for just over three days. It s
fascinating to think that he has been dreaming of this for his entire life and that he
can do his job in
Effects Of Monsters In Today s Society
When people hear the word monster, they usually picture in their minds images of
vampires, zombies, demons, ghouls, or other physical supernatural beings. However,
today s society contains its own modern monsters contained in minds of people or in
systems in society, as opposed to some type of physical entity. Examples for modern
monsters of today can be pressure and apathy, but caring too much has more effect
and negative results rather than apathy s effect of caring too little. Rather than apathy,
pressure is one of the most abundant monsters, found in countless of areas and caused
by a variety of things. Attacks of such a monstercan begin from a countless number of
elements. Pressure can be introduced from school assignments, work requirements,
self confidence, and even from one s own mind. People of today s society tend to
stress over trying to conform to our society and by attempting to meet or exceed
school standards or to obtain a certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pressure attacks by causing headaches, higher blood pressure, gastrointestinal
issues, nausea, and a weaker immune system. People under constant pressure may
notice that they frequently become sick with colds and fevers, or that he/she may
develop bad eating habits and nervous habits such as biting one s fingernails. This
type of attack by such monster provokes one s self to physically destroy their own
body from the inside and out. Elevated blood pressure and heart beat can cause
damage to one s heart. Other effects are noticeable from the outside of the victim
such as torn or ripped fingernails, and significant weight gain and loss due to
unhealthy eating habits such as binge eating or from one not eating enough, causing
an inefficient amount of nutrients which are needed to support the body. Other
visible attacks may include self harm or even bags under one s eyes due to the lack of
Malcolm Gladwell Ten Thousand Hours Analysis
The 10,000 hour rule in Malcolm Gladwell s book Outliers states that ...ten
thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated
with being a world class expert in anything. I disagree with this statement, but if I
were to change it so that it was more agreeable, I would change it so that it would
say, ...to most people, ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the
possibility of becoming a world class expertin anything. Evidence of astronauts who
became experts under 10,000 hours, comedians god given natural humor, and
evidence of exceptional soccer players and volleyball players heights all show why
Malcolm Gladwells ten thousand hours isn t completely true. I added to most... Show

Skyler plays for a volleyball club in Bloomington called Illini Elite, which is
considered one of the best clubs in the state. They have many different teams
ranging in skill level, kind of like the english professional leagues. From the top,
there is the Cardinal team, Black team, White team, and then red, and so on. The
top three teams go to florida to play a national tournament to compete in front of
many college coaches in hopes to get noticed. Skyler, who is looking to play
college volleyball, really wanted to go to the national tournament, practiced way
more than the other kids in the club, worked harder, and played better than
everyone, but after tryouts, was placed on the red team all because she was short..
She was so devastated and hurt that she almost quite volleyball completely.
Gladwell failed to mention roadblocks like physical characteristics when making
his claim, also giving the reader a false sense of power and control. He makes
everyone think that as long as they work hard and practice for 10,000 hours, they
will become experts, but as we all know, it is impossible to practice getting tall for
10,000 hours, because it just is not possible. And because Gladwell failed to
mention these unchangeable roadblocks, people like Skyler, who gave everything
110%, paid the price. Overall, I disagree with Malcolm Gladwell s 10,000 hour rule,
but think that it could be corrected so that it is more accurate. Evidence of
exceptional IQ, natural talent, and Height are great examples of why intellect, and
talent help people become experts at what they do without the need of hitting 10,000
The Change Is Unexpected Or Planned Departure Of A
Chief...
Every nonprofit organization undergoes leadership changes at some point. Whether
the change is unexpected or planned, it can result in a period of dangerous
organizational uncertainty or offer opportunities for greater accomplishments.
Without a transition plan in place, a sudden or planned departure of a chief executive
officer, chief financial officer or other upper managementofficial can seriously
degrade the performance of a nonprofit organization. Experienced transition
leadership and adequate planning will minimize disruption and maintain the mission
of the organization, as well as offer the possibilities of further growth and
development.
More than 3,000 executives of nonprofit organizations participated in a national
study conducted by CompassPoint and the Meyer Foundation in 2011 (Cornelius,
Moyers, Bell, 2011, p. 2). Sixty seven percent of these executives indicated they
plan on leaving their organizations within five years (See Table). In addition, this
survey revealed that despite 15 years of attention to the issue, a number of key
practices associated with effective executive transition are not widespread.
Executives and boards are still reluctant to talk proactively about succession and just
17% of organizations have a documented succession plan (Cornelius et al., 2011, p.
3).
When adding unexpected executive departures to these statistics, the ramifications of
insufficient transitional planning are alarming. It was reported in the news

they build one more factory in VinhPhuc. So, now they have 2 factories in there with
~2.5 million motor is produced each year. * Customer reference: gifts for client

In addition, Honda used the Localization project. They apply policy domestic

I Am Pursuing A Career Nuclear Technology
I ve proven myself capable with aptitudes in various vocations. Primarily, I ve

nuclear technology, instrumentation and controls, and even engineering. Specifically
I would like to apply the degree from this program to the online Bachelor of Science

Neuroscience Psychology
Neuroscience
Neuroscience, otherwise known as biological psychology, is the study of how genes
affect behavior. Neuroscientists believe that all that is psychological as a biological
premises, and can be traced back to a physiological cause. Biological psychology
compares different species and their behaviors, it investigates physiology with the
nervous system and hormonal factors, as well as the inheritance of genes. Studies
within this perspective often involve studying twins, for example examining the
similarity between identical twins, compared to the similarity between fraternal
twins. If the identical twins portray results more congruent than those of the fraternal

It attempts to find pathways and steps in human examination of thinking, language,
memory, perception, consciousness and attention. Cognitive psychology is divided
into three sections. The first is human experimental psychology or social psychology,
which includes observing behaviour, problem solving, memory and reaction. Another
is computer analogy, or the idea of comparing the human mind and control system to
a metaphorical computer; a computer stores information, information is received and
sent out and many small connections make a big picture; the human mind is assessed
similarly. The third is cognitive neuroscience, which discusses a scientific view of the
brain and how it reacts to external stimuli. In contrast to behavioural psychology,
cognitive psychology is concerned with the input, the mediation process, and the
output. A research example for this sort of perspective is having a memory test in an
isolated lab with multiple test subjects, observing how they take in the memory
(perhaps visually or through auditory methods), what the brain does with it (stores,
analyses, or confuses), and how this is later recalled in different test

As for an example, Boehm in his research describes a copyright infringement case
against an individual illegally downloading music from KaZaA, which resulted in
a summary judgment in favor of the RIAA in the amount of $750 per song,
totaling to $22,500 per 13 downloaded songs (181). David Bach describes in 2004
article for Business and Politics that these high profile lawsuits against individuals
who never had any commercial profit from online music sharing, are intended to
pose as an example for all other sharers that music piracy is copyright infringement
and it will be prosecuted. The lawsuits conducted against the individuals was a great
idea of an effort to turn the music industry around, but according to Tyler it had no
significant deterrent effect on the general public (2108). Looking at the ratio of
lawsuits to the increasing number of file sharing files stated above, the lack of effect
on public, and the excessive cost of each lawsuit it s clear that the IRAA cannot
prosecute every copyright infringement. As a result, many record labels and artists
abounded this strategy (Tyler 2108), which reflected in totally different approach.
The record labels and the artists no longer were seeking justice through the legal way;
instead, they approach the general public
Critical Analysis Of Max Beckmann s The Large
Operation...
From the operating room to the battlefield
The two world wars in the history have been inextricably linked to Germany s
ambitions. These wars not only caused an indelible trauma in the whole world but
also left deep bitterness and lessons for the German people. At that time, however,
there was a small group of the German artist upstream, strongly against the
government s evil deeds, expressed their condemnation and discontent for the war
through their artworks, such as Max Beckmann and Otto Dix. This article will use
Max Beckmann s The Large Operation and Otto Dix s Der Krieg (The War) as
examples, to specifically discuss how these two artists changed their drawing style in
a more intense way in order to create an impressed depiction of the bloodshed and
cruelty of the war for the viewers.
In The Large Operation, Max Beckmann depicts a crowded and busy operating room
inspired by his personal experience in World War I
. Every hospital staff has different
expressions and positions, but most strikingly, is the two injured people, or can be
called dead soldiers, lying lifelessly. The artist uses different techniques here to
distinguish the alive one from the lifeless one. The drawing lines of the hospital
staffs who are in action are smooth and fresh, which reflects a busy feeling. But the
drawing lines of the lying soldiers are rigid and messy, which gives a strange sense
of death. For the faces, the artist gives every staff different characteristics and
emotions, but for

Concentration of the alkali Having a higher concentration of alkali will mean that
there will be more molecules closer together for the acid to collide with. This will
speed up the reaction as collision theory suggests that molecules have to collide to
react and if there are more molecules to collide with the reaction will happen faster
as there is a higher chance of a collision. Volume of alkali An increase in volume
would mean that the neutralisation would take longer as you would need an equal
amount of the same strength acid in order to neutralise it. Furthermore in collision
theory if there is a bigger space that the molecules are in then the molecules are less...

is already made up by the school. Furthermore it will limit risks as it is diluted

Is There An Enforceable Contract Between Kelvin And
Brie...
Was there an enforceable contract between Kelvin and Brie in Kelvin s first
email? There must be agreement in an enforceable contract. An offer is present if
it appears to the reasonable person, in the position of the offeree, that an offer was
intended. After Brie asked Kelvin for a quote, he replied with a quotation for
$15000 including installation and delivery by 31 July 2016. He did not express to
Brie that I may be prepared to sell the fridge to you which conveys that he was not
inviting her to negotiate for a contract. Rather, the reasonable person would view
Kelvin s email and act of ordering the fridge as an indication that he intended to
make an offer to sell and not an invitation to treat. The contract becomes
immediately binding if the offeree accepts the offer. Generally, acceptance is
effective when the offeree communicates it to the offeror. Brie replied to Kelvin s
email, articulating that she accepted the quote and by going ahead , she agreed for
him to deliver the fridge on time. It would appear to the reasonable person that
because Brie assented to the terms of the offer, she accepted it. Intention to create
legal relations, certainty and consideration are clear. Thus, there is an enforceable
bilateral contract. Does the practical benefit exception apply? An exception to the
existing legal duty rule is if the modifying party incurs a practical benefit from the
beneficiary s promise to perform an existing obligation. In NSW, a modified
The Primacy Of Domestic Politics By J. Joll
The First World War, which lasted from 1914 until 1918, has always held up the
question on whether it was a choice, or an accident. This discussion has been one
that has been fiercely argued since the First World War had begun. However, Joll
brings about an analysis in his piece The Primacy of Domestic Politics, where he
states how although the Frist World War was inevitable, it was not a war of choice.
The problems in Europe were building, and although it was not a choice to go to
war, it still had to happen, and although the leaders of the countries did not intend for
the war to begin, it did, thus identifying as an accident. Through Joll s analysis, it is
evident that the First World War was not a choice, rather, it was an accident that was
inevitable. The evidence of tensions within Europe is highlighted... Show more

Throughout the piece, Joll continues to maintain the stance that there was not
much, if anything, to solidify the argument that the First World War was based off
of the tensions that the individual countries faced entirely. There was no deliberate
cause of the war due to the ordeals that individual countries were facing, and
although the results of the war may have helped solve certain problems that
preluded the war, the intention for the war was never so. Joll also presents how
although this war was not a choice, it was inevitable (Joll 142). The war was
inevitable because there was simply too much unrest at once, and although there was
little, if any intention to start war originally, this unrest put the pieces of the puzzle
together, and in a way, forced a war. The problems within Europe in general had
been building up for years, and had come to such a
Overall Aesthetics In Mean Girls
In Mean Girls, the overall aesthetics are bright, vivid colours that emphasised the teen
rom com genre. Bright colours attract the audience s attention to the film and targets
a more feminine audience. The cinematographer, Daryn Okada, decided to use
several complementary colours from the colour wheel such as Blue and Orange, and
Red and Green. An overall hue noticed throughout is the use of pink in practically
everything; clothing, accessories, decorations etc. This connotation highlights the
themes that are seen in the film such as love, between Cady, the protagonist and her
love interest Aaron, the school jock. The theme innocence is also shown throughout
as you see Cady, start a new school and the audience see her naГЇve behaviour

Vegan Restaurant Observation
Currently, there are several Vegan restaurants near me with great food. However,
once you are finish eating you must go to another location if you would like to listen
to live music. Last week for example, me and my best friend planned to hangout on
Saturday for dinner and dancing. We decided to check out the new Vegan restaurant
called Vegan Basket downtown Atlanta. The staff was great and the food
was even
better, but we had to find another location for dancing. The next day, I have a great
thought of opening a Vegan restaurant where everyone can come and enjoy great
food and live entertainment. A couple of weeks later I ran the idea pass my best
friend and she agreed to be my business partner.
On October 15, 2015, after lots of planning,
Christian Community Analysis
My time within the faith community has impacted me both negatively and positively
on complete opposite ends of that spectrum. As a baby believer, I accepted a job
working in a large, two hundred staff member church with three thousand volunteers
on the roster. Thus, began a six year journey that exposed me to varying forms of
Christian Community. Staff gatherings, retreats, a life group, missions and volunteer
groups, the Christian motorcycle community, and Freedom Session small groups. I
had never read the bible, been discipled, baptized, prayed out loud, accepted Christ
into my heart, or even prayed the sinner s prayer. I started my Jesusjourney spending
sixty hours a week with lifelong mature Christians who spoke the foreign language of

Entire communities live behind masks, fearing transparency, honesty and truth about
the muck and mire in their lives. The focus is inward to protect their image, and
God cannot get close enough to remove their muck. It is difficult to offer what we
cannot feel, have not experienced or do not possess ourselves. Other factors
preventing us from offering these relationships are that we live in a rushed culture
that is impatient, and relationships take up time. We overbook, overextend, and
overwork ourselves which skews our priorities and barely leaves time for our own
families let alone for investing in external communities or

A Conclusion For An Essay

  • 1. A Conclusion For An Essay Crafting a conclusion for an essay may initially seem like a straightforward task, but as one delves into the process, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies in not only summarizing the key points and reiterating the thesis but also in providing a sense of closure that resonates with the reader. Striking the right balance between brevity and completeness is essential, avoiding the pitfall of repetition or introducing new information. The difficulty intensifies when attempting to instill a lasting impression in the reader's mind. A compelling conclusion should go beyond mere repetition and offer a fresh perspective or a thought-provoking insight. Crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impact requires careful consideration of the essay's overarching theme and a seamless integration of ideas to create a cohesive and resonant final paragraph. Furthermore, the challenge is to avoid sounding formulaic or clichГ©d. A generic conclusion can undermine the overall quality of the essay, making it imperative to inject originality and creativity into the closing remarks. Striking the right emotional tone is also crucial, ensuring that the reader feels a sense of satisfaction and closure without feeling manipulated or coerced. In essence, writing a conclusion for an essay demands a synthesis of skills in summarization, synthesis, and rhetorical finesse. It requires a keen understanding of the essay's purpose and an ability to encapsulate the main ideas in a way that lingers in the reader's mind. The process involves a delicate balancing act that can be challenging for even the most seasoned writers. For those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of crafting a conclusion, seeking assistance is a viable option. • 2. Death, Be Not Proud, By John Donne Death and mortality are common themes widely used throughout poetry and other numerous works of literature. As well as this, death is a common occurrence in life, and though most people refuse to accept or acknowledge it, everyone must deal with it at some point in their lifetime. Whether it be the deathof a family member, friend, or the final stages of your own life you will experience death in some way. In the poems, Death, be not proud and Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, the speakers possess two similar ideas of just what death is. Death, be not proud is a poem written by John Donneand maintains a direct approach to the coming of death. Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, is another poem discussing death and mortality, written by Dylan Thomas, and reflects his somewhat more defiant attitude towards death. In both poems, the themes of death and mortality, though constant, are written about in different ways. In Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, by Dylan Thomas, the speaker has a very resistant view of death and believes the reader should as well. The poem begins as the speaker is talking to an unknown person and telling them do not go gentle into that good night. The repeated phrase is used throughout the poem as a reinforcement of the idea that we should not simply accept death. Instead, the speaker suggests that we be angry towards the idea of dying, and is shown by use of the phrase rage, rage against the dying of the light. The

  • 6. Fa Mu Lan No Name Woman The No Name Woman is a failure in Chinese society, but starkly contrasted by the success and fulfillment of traditional expectations demonstrated in the woman warrior, Fa Mu Lan. In the second section of Kingston s account, White Tiger, the author controversially develops her own retelling of this famous myth with herself as the legendary Chinese figure. Kingston initiates this section stating, when we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if we grew up to be but wives or slaves (Kingston 19). The words of her elders engrained in Kingston and her female peers their place of women, enslaved to their husbands and bound to housework. Yet Kingston does not accept this reality and instead plunges into a powerful tale of a female who not only overcomes gender roles but is the champion of the entire Chinese nation. Fa Mu Lan is a swordswoman, who utilizes her physical and magical training to cause social justice. Despite her occupations with valor and justice, however, Kingston s character also finds time to nurture a child and attend the domestic duties traditionally assigned to women, a challenge to ancient stereotypes and an affirmation of modern ideas of women balancing families with their careers. Similarly, the weapons Kingston yields are her words and the truth of her experience she artfully relates.

  • 8. Visual Elements In The Film Casablanca The film, Casablanca, focuses on Rick, who faces lost love, honor and duty, self sacrifice, and romance, all within a world currently filled with chaos. The bar scene, where Rick drinks alone after his club closes, represents the sadness he feels after encountering an old acquaintance Ilsa Lund, his former lover. During the scene, Sam plays As Time Goes by again, the searchlight circles around the club, and Rick thinks about the past, just before Ilsa comes to see and talk to him. The mise en scГЁne of the bar scene following Laszlo and Ilsa leaving Rick s nightclub illustrates the shift of Rick s former character to the man the audience currently sees. Casablanca contains brilliant visual elements. It is a romantic drama that takes place during World War II, in a city controlled by France called Casablanca. The city is filled with refugees who are trying to escape to the United States, dealers selling letters of transit, and French and German officials. In the beginning of the bar scene, Rick says, Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine. This incorporates the idea of coincidence in the film. However, he managed to change the view of the American government for the worse. Stealing documents from his rival party, covering up his actions over and over again. And finally getting caught of his actions, a distrust of their government by their citizens was created. But how had it occurred? Why did Nixon do this? Why did he cover it up over and over again? What steps and actions had led to Nixon s resignation? Because of the Watergate Scandal, the American citizens understood that the American Government can be deceiving to its citizens. It all started on June 17, 1972. Five men had been arrested at 2:30 AM in the Watergate Hotel (Lewis). At that time, Watergate was the location of the offices of the Democratic National Committee (The Watergate Story). The five men, Frank A Sturgis, Eugenio R. Martinez, Virgilio Gonzalez, Bernard L. Barker, and James W. McCord were the burglars. James McCord, Being the most notable man out of the bunch, was a former CIA and FBI agent. • 10. Money Is Not Able For Buy Happiness There are various instances where the novel Sister Carrie presents the idea that money is not able to buy happiness. Carrie, the protagonist of the novel, attempts to use money to create happiness in her life, but throughout her journey she finally starts to realize that her happiness cannot be constantly associated with wealth. This theme is supported through the actions and words of the protagonist. The protagonist, Carrie, is the main characterin the story. Many specific lines in the novel indicate that Carrie is not satisfied with how she is living her life. I believe the reason she is not truly happy is because up until this point in her life, she has been certain that her happiness relies strictly on how much money she possesses. She has focused every part of her life on making the most money, including her love life. The theme is discussed most frequently towards the end because this is the realization point in the novel. Sister Carrie presents the idea that money cannot buy happiness. We can see this in the novel through the actions of the protagonist. The literary element that helps support the theme of the novel is the actions and words of the protagonist. A protagonist is commonly used to refer to the hero or heroine in a story, poem, novel, play, or film (Barton 167). There is not a hero in the novel but a protagonist may be the main character without providing to be a hero or a heroine (Barton 167). In Sister Carrie the main character is Carrie, hence her

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The impact of these resources we have available are inevitable, since they are all around us, and every day society gets more updated. Thank you for being late, gave me a better understanding of digital technology and its effect on society. Artificial Intelligence has come a long way since it started, and will keep prospering as the digital age keeps innovating. Which relates to Moore s Law regarding how the speed of rate for computer processing will double every two years, and how I can apply it to my personal life. Programs, and the digital age will continue to develop, and modernize which is why I have to adapt to my surroundings as best as I can. As well as use the tools and resources the digital age have given me in order to be successful in my future career. I have to keep up to date with the new software, and opportunities that technology brings, because even if you do not make use of them, they will not stop evolving. As Friedman concludes in the book, times change faster than we realize, and that is why we as individuals and nations have to adapt by being innovative, open to change, and taking a moment to shut out the rest of the world, and acknowledging our surroundings and giving value to it. I would recommend this book to any of my friends, and to anyone in my generation since it is a book that addresses the present and all of the digital changes that we as a society have been going through, Specifically, the next generation, as Friedman states is the generation that is: going to be asked to dance in a hurricane (Friedman). In conclusion, it is an eye opening and insightful guide towards technology and the effect it is bringing to us, with a silver lining in the end of how we can actually overcome it, and how we can strive in the society and era we live
  • 12. Double Standard In The Odyssey Cesar Aguilera Professor Haynes English 61 9/27/17 Women s double standard In Homer s The Odyssey woman have a double standard and a great example is Penelope s story. She spends years being alone awaiting her husbands return after the trojan war. She is a great wife, a great mother, she is also very wise and intelligent. Most of all her greatest quality is that she is very faithful. Despite many people wanting to marry her and many telling her that her husband s dead she still remains loyal to Odysseus. Although Odysseus has a loyal wife he views women as sluts and men as noble. In order for a man to be considered a good, heroic and strong, men is to have sex with lots of women but if a woman has sex with a lot of men she is a slut and horrible. Medusa is a great representation as a monstrous woman in The Odyssey. In order for men to have sex with a lot of women, a lot of women have to have sex with men. So in order for men to reach manliness women have to fail at womanliness. I think that Homer s double standard on women is pretty much unfair. Penelope was very intelligent and faithful and able to avoid any men who came to visit and stood in her home. They wanted to take the place as the new king taking advantage of Odysseus absence. Penelope although it was at a disadvantage by not having anyone in your family with her, obviously not without her husband, only the company of his son, who became one of his excuses to send the suitors and avoid any involvement with

Researching data will help you not only build a better understanding of the medication but it will help you teach your patients about it along with make sure they absolutely understand the information. I learned that not everyone retains information the same. Some patients like to have handouts but some need hands on teaching. Knowing more facts about your patient is always key to a successful training along with a successful patient provider relationship. Lithium Carbonate is not typically prescribed to many people. Lithium, being a dangerous drug can result in a risk of potential toxicity. This drug has to be closely monitored by having labs done every 3 months to prevent toxicity. In order to be prescribed Lithium Carbonate you have to be seen someone in behavioral health vs. by your family doctor. After someone has been on a medication for a few years they tend to let slip from memory the serious adverse effects along with patient teaching. It is always valuable to just review the basic teaching. When prescribing a drug, you will know the side effects for that drug, but you also need to know the drug interactions it will have on other drugs if someone is taking multiple

  • 16. The Flaws of Prison Labor Essay The Flaws of Prison Labor The debate over prison labor has existed as long as the concept it s self. Opponents claim that it exploits prisoners, takes away jobs from the general population, and puts people in danger by allowing convicts access to their personal information. While supporters of prison labor argue that it helps the economy as well as benefits prisoners. On this issue I stand on the side of the supporters. By having prisoners work we are accomplishing several beneficial things. First, work keeps them occupied and out of trouble, instead of getting into confrontations with other inmates, they are actually doing something productive. Second, by working they are alleviating some of the high costs of keeping them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been found that when fully trained...inmate workers leave prison, they carry with them credentials of achievement in job skills that meet requirements of today s business. In addition, the money that they earn carries several benefits; it can be used to buy daily amenities which will make their life in prison a little more pleasurable, they can also save money that will be extremely useful when they are released. Thus, not only are prisoners kept out of trouble by working, the money they earn benefits them in the present, as it will in the future and eases the burden on society that comes with housing prison inmates. The ideal purpose of incarceration is to have the guilty pay for their crimes and at the same time correct their criminal behavior. However the reality is very far from the ideal, inmates literally rot in jail until they are released just to return soon after and keep the never ending cycle going. So one useful way inmates can pay their debt to society is by prison labor. When inmates are working a percentage of their wages is withheld and that money goes to house inmates and run prisons, thus relieving the economic burden of the government and taxpayers. Since these people committed the crimes, there is no reason why the entire society should support them. Having inmates contribute to the costs, especially when it benefits the prisoners as well is a great way to reduce spending

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Dictionary.com duality means an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or aspects of something. Robert Louis Stevenson states man is not truly one, but truly two . What does he mean by this? For example, one day someone meets someone and that person looks perfectly fine, but the other person does not really know how the other person feels, or what the other person has gone threw. In reality that person has been living there whole life full of hatred scared to hurt someone till one day someone bothers that person, and that person reacts in a very bad manner because the other person was bothering the other person and does something wrong that no one would expect from that person. Then no one can believe what that person did is true because that person had never done anything bad in there whole life. This is what duality means to robert louis stevenson. Everyone has to accept who they are what they do, how they feel, and how they think. If someone has a bad side they should not hide it they should just accept that part of them and learn to live with it because if they hide it and they try to put it away and one day the bad side takes over the person and that person explodes in front of everyone then every one would have a very different perspective of that person.. However if that person learns how to control their bad side and live with it then they will not have to hide that part of
  • 19. Hardin Living On A Lifeboat Summary To begin with, Hardin s essay Living on a Lifeboat expresses fear of over population by comparing nations to life boats, since they both have limited carrying capacities. For instance, Hardin asks the question, Would you fill a life boat at its maximum capacity with another 100 people? Specifically, Hardin mentions the loss of land and how we have been historically living on capital such as stored petroleum and coal, and now we must depend on income alone (Hard 857). Basically, Hardin s core thesis is that we do not have moral obligations to the poor. To break down Hardin s approach, he critiques multiple approaches to this problem of ensuring economic will being for everyone. First, he mentions the Marxist and Christian approaches which would lead to complete social justice, but also complete catastrophe, since the lifeboat in his example would drown due to overcapacity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 858). By doing this, Hardin is postulating that collective economic growth and safety are more desirable than an economy based on moral obligations and equality. To support his claims, Hardin then moves on to the dangers of population growth. Indeed, Hardin draws parallels between a lifeboat and high rates of population growth, since the current population rise globally would make it difficult to provide for everyone in the U.S or in poorer countries. To expand, Hardin is critiquing globalism, since he finds it impossible for the U.S or developing nations to be the life boat supporting nations with high population growth rates. According to Hardin, there is simply not enough recourses and too much population growth to live according to a Marxist or Christian ethic of equality. To expand, Hardin s main critique of the Marxist Christian theory is that it does not take into account human selfishness and cannot be sustainable to growing populations

  • 22. Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Point of view (the perspective from which a story is told) has a significant role in how the characters and events in a given story are analyzed. The readers response to the literature depends greatly on the position of the author and/or narrator; whether he is on the outside looking in, or vise versa. The use of point of view also allows the author to convey a certain message or belief by allowing for other literary elements such as irony and sympathy . The point of view in literature is one of the central focuses for interpretation. Dubliners, by James Joyce is an outstanding example of how the use of point of view influences how characters and events are interpreted. Joyce writes the first three stories of Dubliners in the first person point of view, the rest are told in there person. Taking a look at a few of the short stories , Araby , Eveline , and Clay , it is obvious that Joyce s choice of narration as well as the complexity of how he carries out those narrations plays a significant role in the analysis of his work. Araby is told in first person, from the point of view of the protagonist. Despite the first person narration in Araby , Joyce does little to convince readers that the story is told from a boy s perspective. On the contrary, actually, the narratorseemingly has the maturity of a man certainly beyond the experience of the narrator of the story. Joyce s way of narrating this story gives readers the ability to clearly identify the distress that

The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the product. Respiratory surface is a cell membrane for the gas exchange of unicellular organisms but for the large organisms it has specialise organs like lungs, gills or trachea. Gas exchange is the exchange of gases across a semipermeable membrane via the process of diffusion, This occurs across cell membranes (from inside the lungs to blood stream then from out of the blood, into the cells, into the mitochondria). Gas exchange involves the respiration and breathing. Respiration is the process of combining oxygenwith glucose to make energy into the form of ATP. This occurs inside the cells at the mitochondria. Breathing is the physical action of moving air into and out of the body or water over the surface of the gills. This occurs as a whole body or organ movement. We need gas exchange because all animals carry out respiration to release energy from the food. This process require oxygen gas and release of carbon dioxidegas. This means animals, must have an efficient system to obtain the oxygen from the atmosphere or water and to remove the carbon dioxide from their body. This provide us with oxygen for respiration process, efficient exchange of gases and allow diffusion of gases. Diffusion is required to supply all organisms with oxygen. Factors affecting the rate of diffusion is the surface area therefore for the efficient of diffusion to

That results support Libben s hypothesis, which states that neither first possible parse nor last possible parse characterize the prelexical parsing procedure. During the experiment there was a connection between parsing choices and semantic plausibility ratings. 5.What prediction was the second experiment designed to address? How was the procedure altered? The second experiment is focused on semantic priming in accuracy paradigm. The prediction it was designed to address is whether ambiguous novel compounds facilitate recall accuracy to monomorphemic associates of both parsing choices. The procedure was altered by adapting the morpheme recall task and by having a pre or post primes compound
  • 39. The Mayan Civilization And The Maya Empire The Mayan civilization or the Maya Empire, centered in the tropical lowlands of what is now Guatemala, reached the peak of its power and influence around the sixth century A.D. The Maya excelled at agriculture, pottery, hieroglyph writing, calendar making and mathematics, and left behind an astonishing amount of impressive architecture and symbolic artwork. Most of the great stone cities of the Maya were abandoned by A.D. 900. The Maya civilizationwas one of the most dominant indigenous societies of Mesoamerica. Unlike other scattered indigenous populations of Mesoamerica, the Maya were centered in one geographical block covering all of the Yucatan Peninsula and modern day Guatemala; Belize and parts of the Mexican states of Tabasco and Chiapas; and the western part of Honduras and El Salvador. This concentration showed that the Maya remained relatively secure from invasion by other Mesoamerican peoples. Within that expanse, the Maya lived in three separate sub areas with distinct environmental and cultural differences: the northern Maya lowlands on the Yucatan Peninsula; the southern lowlands in the Peten district of northern Guatemala and adjacent portions of Mexico, Belize and western Honduras; and the southern Maya highlands, in the mountainous region of southern Guatemala. The earliest Maya settlements date to around 1800 B.C., or the beginning of what is called the Preclassic or Formative Period. The Middle Preclassic Period also saw the rise of the first major

In commercial terms, music certainly generates a higher market value than the other arts, although a comprehensive market size for music in all its manifestations is impossible to calculate. Key Note has put a value of ВЈ3.03bn on consumer spending on music in 2005, derived from three sectors: recorded music (which accounts for the bulk of the market), live music and musical instruments. However, data for other related markets are included, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each chapter of the report starts with more detailed definitions and coverage. For coverage of recorded music, Key Note is grateful to the statistics and commentary provided by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), detailed later in this chapter under Key Trade Associations. For other sectors, an important component of the report is the field research into the attitudes and buying habits of UK consumers with regard to music, conducted for Key Note by NEMS Market Research specifically for this report. Report Background This is the first edition of a Market Review of the Music Industry published by Key Note. Although coverage is targeted mainly at the UK market, the global aspects of the music industry are given full acknowledgment. In particular, it is recorded music by far the largest market by value that has evolved a global structure. Since 2004, it has featured just four `majors owning dozens of famous labels and holding recording contracts (or back catalogues) for the vast majority of the world s top selling recording artists. The `big four major groups, including the UK s own `home grown giant, EMI Group PLC, also own rights to publish and to license the majority of successful songs, theme music, etc. These rights are increasingly important as the market moves towards a more fluid, ICT (information and communications technology)

Mrs. Jones told him that she once did something that she was not proud of. And the boy stayed. Mrs. Jones s kindness to Roger changed him because, it looked like he had no one to help him. I Know That Sounds Like Digital Media And Advertising I know that sounds like Digital Media has no center but of course that s not true: there are rules (color, placement, context, intent, etc.), and as always, if you know the rules you can either follow them or break them. Do either of them well and you ll succeed. There are some concrete aesthetic guidelines you can follow to ensure your imagery will please the eye. So let s talk about 3 of the major compositional aesthetic theories, and how they function in Digital Media and advertising: 1. The Rule of Thirds The Rule of Thirds basically says that if you divide any screen (television/movie/computer/smartphone) into a grid of equal thirds, the eye is naturally attracted to the 4 points on the grid where those lines intersect (this rectangle is commonly referred to as The Golden Section). Look familiar? It should: if you ve ever turned on the Grid function on your iPhone camera, then you ve been using The Rule of Thirds for years. So, try using this grid when choosing an image (most photo editing software programs have something like it, and you can turn them on and off for easy A/B comparison), and see where those 4 points land. What do you want people to focus on? And is it near one of those points? If not, you can either crop the image differently or choose another, but the important thing to think about is how you want your audience to respond to your imagery and how you want their eye to travel. The Golden Section can be like a bulls eye for their focus you can always

He makes everyone think that as long as they work hard and practice for 10,000 hours, they will become experts, but as we all know, it is impossible to practice getting tall for 10,000 hours, because it just is not possible. And because Gladwell failed to mention these unchangeable roadblocks, people like Skyler, who gave everything 110%, paid the price. Overall, I disagree with Malcolm Gladwell s 10,000 hour rule, but think that it could be corrected so that it is more accurate. Whether the change is unexpected or planned, it can result in a period of dangerous organizational uncertainty or offer opportunities for greater accomplishments. Without a transition plan in place, a sudden or planned departure of a chief executive officer, chief financial officer or other upper managementofficial can seriously degrade the performance of a nonprofit organization. Experienced transition leadership and adequate planning will minimize disruption and maintain the mission of the organization, as well as offer the possibilities of further growth and development. More than 3,000 executives of nonprofit organizations participated in a national study conducted by CompassPoint and the Meyer Foundation in 2011 (Cornelius, Moyers, Bell, 2011, p. 2). Sixty seven percent of these executives indicated they plan on leaving their organizations within five years (See Table). In addition, this survey revealed that despite 15 years of attention to the issue, a number of key practices associated with effective executive transition are not widespread. Executives and boards are still reluctant to talk proactively about succession and just 17% of organizations have a documented succession plan (Cornelius et al., 2011, p. 3). When adding unexpected executive departures to these statistics, the ramifications of insufficient transitional planning are alarming. It was reported in the news

This article will use Max Beckmann s The Large Operation and Otto Dix s Der Krieg (The War) as examples, to specifically discuss how these two artists changed their drawing style in a more intense way in order to create an impressed depiction of the bloodshed and cruelty of the war for the viewers. In The Large Operation, Max Beckmann depicts a crowded and busy operating room inspired by his personal experience in World War I . Every hospital staff has different expressions and positions, but most strikingly, is the two injured people, or can be called dead soldiers, lying lifelessly. The drawing lines of the hospital staffs who are in action are smooth and fresh, which reflects a busy feeling. But the drawing lines of the lying soldiers are rigid and messy, which gives a strange sense of death. For the faces, the artist gives every staff different characteristics and emotions, but for

  • 53. Is There An Enforceable Contract Between Kelvin And Brie... Was there an enforceable contract between Kelvin and Brie in Kelvin s first email? There must be agreement in an enforceable contract. An offer is present if it appears to the reasonable person, in the position of the offeree, that an offer was intended. After Brie asked Kelvin for a quote, he replied with a quotation for $15000 including installation and delivery by 31 July 2016. He did not express to Brie that I may be prepared to sell the fridge to you which conveys that he was not inviting her to negotiate for a contract. Rather, the reasonable person would view Kelvin s email and act of ordering the fridge as an indication that he intended to make an offer to sell and not an invitation to treat. The contract becomes immediately binding if the offeree accepts the offer. Generally, acceptance is effective when the offeree communicates it to the offeror. However, Joll brings about an analysis in his piece The Primacy of Domestic Politics, where he states how although the Frist World War was inevitable, it was not a war of choice. The problems in Europe were building, and although it was not a choice to go to war, it still had to happen, and although the leaders of the countries did not intend for the war to begin, it did, thus identifying as an accident. Joll also presents how although this war was not a choice, it was inevitable (Joll 142). The war was inevitable because there was simply too much unrest at once, and although there was little, if any intention to start war originally, this unrest put the pieces of the puzzle together, and in a way, forced a war.
