The document discusses a collaborative business incubation program between Harare Institute of Technology, Sandown Corporate, and UNDP in Zimbabwe. The program aimed to support young Zimbabweans in transforming technical prototypes into commercially viable businesses. A total of 10 prototypes were refined and investor-ready business plans were developed. The collaboration allowed participants to gain valuable business skills, coaching, and mentoring. University-industry partnerships are seen as useful for setting up sustainable business incubation centers. When universities and industry work together, it drives innovation and economic growth.

The Indian IT sector is the largest reservoir of professionally trained manpower in the world, where about one crore IT professionals are being outsourced by the United States of America and Europe. India, albeit, ranks 52 in Global Innovation Index (GII- 2019), but in ICT services export, she ranks first in the world. Leveraging information and technology potential to gain global economic power may be the best strategy for India. Innovation as an economic instrument assumes importance, which is a case in point here, as panacea (ultimate solution) to elevate India as one of the global economic powers in the future. In this milieu, the Government of India through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has initiated an institutional measure to promote innovation, research and development, entrepreneurship and career by formation of hubs in select Indian universities since March 2019. This paper aims to present the experience of a state university in implementing the MHRD sponsored aforesaid program in the back drop of a detailed discussion on promotion of innovative entrepreneurs.

Innovations and inventions are not outcomes of single activity of any organization. This is a result of collaboration of different partners. Collaborated research of university and industry can enhance the ability of scientist to make significant advances in their fields. The evaluation of collaborated research between university and industry has created the greatest interest among the collaborational researchers because it can determine the feasibility and value of the collaboration. This paper intends to illustrate the evaluation metrics and success criteria- based evaluation model in between university-industry in their collaborated research. For bridging the model, the success criteria have been identified based on key evaluation metrics. A successful Collaboration of university and industry is not dependent on any single metric but instead on the confluence of multiple metrics from the growth of basic research to commercialization. This study is intended to provide different evaluating metrics to impound the research collaboration constraints between university and industry, and design success criteria to upsurge the successful linkage. For this purpose we have developed constraints and success criteria based evaluation metrics (CASEM) model. The proposed model is appropriate for almost all types of collaborations specially research collaborations between university and industry. By adopting this model, any university or industry can easily cross the threshold in the grown-up research collaborational community.
Exploring Factors Affecting the Success of TVET-Industry Partnership: A Case ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to explore factors affecting the success of TVET-industry
partnerships. A case study design of the qualitative research method was used to achieve this objective. For the
study, one polytechnic college of Oromia regional state, and two industries were purposively selected. From the
sample polytechnic college and industries, a total of 17 sample respondents were selected. Out of 17
respondents, 10 respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method, and the rest 7 respondents were
selected using the purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data were collected through an in-depth
interview and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic approaches. The findings revealed that
TVET-industry partnerships were found weak. Lack of key stakeholder‟s awareness shortage of improved
training equipment and machines in polytechnic colleges, absence of trainee health insurance policy, lack of
incentive mechanisms for private industries, lack of employer industries involvement in designing and
developing occupational standards, and preparation of curriculum were some of the impediments of TVETindustry partnership. Based on the findings it was recommended that the Oromia TVET bureau in collaboration
with other relevant concerned regional authorities and TVET colleges, set new strategies for creating strong
awareness for industries, companies, and other relevant stakeholders on the purpose and advantages of
implementing successful TVET-industry partnership. Finally, the Oromia regional government in collaboration
with the TVET bureau needs to create policy-supported incentive strategies such as giving occasional privileges
of duty-free import, tax reduction, and regional government recognition awards based on the level of partnership
contribution to TVET institutions in promoting TVET-industry partnership.

This study aimed to investigate the contribution of skill development to self-employment. The study specifically aimed to identify skills development programs required for self-employment among youth. To identify the roles of stakeholders in contributing to skills development programs on self-employment among youth and to examine factors hindering the contribution of skills development programs towards self-employment among youth. Based on the findings through questionnaires and interviews it can be concluded that skills development programs are very important for youth selfemployment in society. That skills development contributes highly to the youth in the determination of entrepreneurship opportunities; it then gives youth time to learn about the management of their enterprises as well as creating a link between one economic sector to another. However, it was established that there are challenges facing skills development programs among youth, which need to be mitigated properly to obtain positive, results about the improvement of youth selfemployment.

This case caused by the absence of clear and detailed provisions of the Government about industrial involvement in the development of vocational higher education. There are several factors that influence the success of a cooperation program in vocational higher education with industry, such as : discrepancy of competency which is produced by higher education with the needs of industry, the lack of industry concern on education, the implementation of quality culture, the application of ICT technology, poor attitude of entrepreneurs, and the work of higher education which do not have commercial value. The research objective is to develop a vocational higher education management model on engineering industry. Preliminary studies conducted at several vocational universities namely Semarang State Polytechnic, ATMI Polytechnic, Bandung Manufacture Polytechnic, Ceper Manufacture Polytechnic and Academy of PIKA. The method of this research apply R & D (Research and Development) with the phases of conducting some preliminary research, developing and testing the product of vocational higher education management model research on engineering industry. Results of the research formulate vocational higher education management model on engineering and guidebooks. The novelty of this study is the importance of improving management performance in vocational higher education. Entrepreneurship education is considered a vital tool for nurturing talents and
redirecting the energy of young people for profitable engagement and economic
growth. This study investigated the perception of students on entrepreneurship
education as it relates to the emergence of E-start-ups in Nigeria. The study used
quantitative method based on survey approach for the collection of data. A total of
306 copies of questionnaire were administered to 200-500 level students in a Nigerian
university. This study used simple random sample under the probability sampling
technique for the selection of the respondent. Hence, each member of the population
was given equal chance of being chosen from the population in no particular order.
The criteria for the selection is 200-500 students of various colleges (College of
Business, Social Sciences, Engineering, Science Technology and others) in Nigeria

can be created and transferred for social and economic benefits and advancement.
What makes them relevant now is that we are in the knowledge era where knowledge
has become the currency for facilitating sustainable development; hence, the role of
universities, as knowledge creation centres, has become more relevant. This relevance
is reflected in their potential to generate ideas and knowledge that can become products
and companies when harnessed. The gap, however, has been that a lot of the knowledge
created by universities has not gone beyond the idea or prototype stage. This study,
thus, proposes a framework to harness knowledge created in and by universities to take
them from the concept stage to the product stage and then to the startup stage, hence,
making them factories for startup companies

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
