Course Description This is the first of a three course sequence in Drafting/Design in the Department of Technological Studies.  An introductory course in drafting/design visualization that emphasizes utilizing a personal computer in the drafting and design process to generate designs of manufactured products.  Includes an emphasis on technical sketching, the creation of orthographic, section, and pictorial views of selected objects.
Course Objectives (1-4 of 11) Develop the discipline and organizational skills of completing assignments on time. Visualize objects depicted in orthographic, sectional, and pictorial drawings. Develop skills in the use and application of drafting and design capabilities using the computer. Recognize the important contributions CADD has made and will make in industrial applications.
Course Objectives (5-8 of 11) Draw orthographic projections of selected items. Define the terminology usually associated with CAD. Identify the common types of plotters, storage devices, and input devices available. Sketch and Draw isometric representations of selected items.
Course Objectives (9-11 of 11) Demonstrate an understanding of the graphic processes involved in the design of items. Communicate effectively size description of selected objects. Make future career decisions based on the knowledge of the role of design and drafting occupations on the public and private sectors.
