Tuning rules in terms of process parameters are given for various forms of integrating systems. The tuning parameter can be selected for the desired robustness by specifying Ms value. The proposed controller design method is applied to various transfer function models and to the nonlinear model equations of jacketed CSTR to show its effectiveness and applicability.
Convolutional encoding with Viterbi decoding is a good forward error correction technique suitable for channels affected by noise degradation. Fangled Viterbi decoders are variants of Viterbi decoder (VD) which decodes quicker and takes less memory with no error detection capability. Modified fangled takes it a step further by gaining one bit error correction and detection capability at the cost of doubling the computational complexity and processing time. A new efficient fangled Viterbi algorithm is proposed in this paper with less complexity and processing time along with 2 bit error correction capabilities. For 1 bit error correction for 14 bit input data, when compared with Modified fangled Viterbi decoder, computational complexity has come down by 36-43% and processing delay was halved. For a 2 bit error correction, when compared with Modified fangled decoder computational complexity decreased by 22-36%.

is to keep the liquid level in the tank at the desired value. The conventional proportional-integral-derivative
(PID) controller is simple, reliable and eliminates the error rate but it cannot handle complex problems. Fuzzy
logic controllers are rule based systems which simulates human behavior of the process. The fuzzy controller is
combined with the PID controller and then applied to the tank level control system. This paper proposes Inverse
fuzzy with fuzzy logic controller for controlling liquid level system for a plant. This paper also compares the
transient response as well as error indices of PID, Fuzzy logic controller, inverse fuzzy controllers. The
responses of the controllers are verified through simulation. From the simulation results, it is observed that
inverse fuzzy-PID controller gives the superior performance than the other controllers. The inverse fuzzy-PID
controller gives better performance than the PID and fuzzy controller in terms of overshoot and settling time.
Performance analysis is carried out with Liquid Flow Control System Design with Fuzzy logic controller.
Results are evaluated by comparing the response time of conventional PID, fuzzy logic and Inverse fuzzy
controller. Comparative analysis of the performance of different controllers is done in MATLAB and Simulink.

A model for simulation is designed and all the assumptions are made before the development of the model. An attempt has been made to analyze the efficiency of a fuzzy controller over a conventional PID controller for a three tank level control system using fuzzification & defuzzification methods and their responses are compared. Analysis is done through computer simulation using Matlab/Simulink toolbox. This study shows that the application of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) gives the best response with triangular membership function and centroid defuzzification method.

The dissolved oxygen concentration in the wastewater treatment process
(WWTP) must remain in a specific range while the factory operates. The
augmented positive identification (PID) controller with a nonlinear element
(sigmoid function) is proposed to assure stability and reduce uncertainties in
the wastewater direct reuse/recycling model. The nonlinear controller gains
(PID controller with sigmoid function) for uncertain wastewater treatment
processes are tuned using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique.
The proposed robust method for controlling wastewater treatment processes
has good robustness during model mismatching, reduces treatment time
compared to traditional positive identification (PID) controllers tuned by
PSO, is easy to apply, and has good performance, according to simulation
results.

In this paper we present a new method for tuning PI controllers with symmetric send-on-delta (SSOD) sampling strategy. First we analyze the conditions that produce oscillations in event based systems considering SSOD sampling strategy. The Describing Function is the tool used to address the problem. Once the conditions for oscillations are established, a new robustness to oscillation performance measure is introduced which entails with the concept of phase margin, one of the most traditional measures of relative stability in closed-loop control systems. Therefore, the application of the proposed robustness measure is easy and intuitive. The method is tested by both simulations and experiments. Additionally, a Java application has been developed to aid in the design according to the results presented in the paper.

In this paper an approach to design auto tuned decentralized PI controller using ideal decoupler and adaptive techniques for controlling a class of multivariable process with a transmission zero. By using decoupler, the MIMO system is transformed into two SISO systems. The controller parameters were adjusted using the Model Reference Adaptive reference Control. In recent process industries, PID and MRAC are the two widely accepted control strategies, where PID is used at regulatory level control and MRAC at supervisory level control. In this project, LabVIEW is used to simulate the PID with Decoupler and MRAC separately and analyze their performance based on steady state error tracking and overshoot.

Multi level inverters are gaining attraction because of the inherent advantages like low switching losses and less voltage stress which results in low filter cost. The common techniques that are available for switching the multi level inverters are based on sinusoidal pulse width modulation and using conventional PI based controllers, hysteresis based controllers. These controllers suffer with slow response time this makes usage of multi level inverters in custom power devices difficult. Because custom power devices require fast acting controller action which can be achieved by intelligent controllers. In this project artificial neural network based modulation scheme is designed and implemented for a cascaded H bridge inverter. The response time of controller for different operating power factors of the load are compared with conventional PI controllers and are presented. The liquid level control system is commonly used in many process control applications. The aim of the process
is to keep the liquid level in the tank at the desired value. The conventional proportional-integral-derivative
(PID) controller is simple, reliable and eliminates the error rate but it cannot handle complex problems. Fuzzy
logic controllers are rule based systems which simulates human behavior of the process. The fuzzy controller is
combined with the PID controller and then applied to the tank level control system. This paper proposes Inverse
fuzzy with fuzzy logic controller for controlling liquid level system for a plant. This paper also compares the
transient response as well as error indices of PID, Fuzzy logic controller, inverse fuzzy controllers. The
responses of the controllers are verified through simulation. From the simulation results, it is observed that
inverse fuzzy-PID controller gives the superior performance than the other controllers. The inverse fuzzy-PID
controller gives better performance than the PID and fuzzy controller in terms of overshoot and settling time.
Performance analysis is carried out with Liquid Flow Control System Design with Fuzzy logic controller.
Results are evaluated by comparing the response time of conventional PID, fuzzy logic and Inverse fuzzy
controller. Comparative analysis of the performance of different controllers is done in MATLAB and Simulink.

What makes the double integrating process special is that derivative action is actually necessary for stabilization. In control, there is generally a trade-off between performance and
robustness, so there does not exist a single optimal controller. However, for a given robustness level (here defined in terms of the Ms-value) we can find the optimal controller which minimizes the performance J (here defined as the integrated absolute error (IAE)-value for disturbances). Interestingly, the SIMC PID controller is almost identical to the optimal pid controller. This can be seen by comparing the paretooptimal
curve for J as a function of Ms, with the curve found by varying the SIMC tuning parameter Tc.

This study shows that the application of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) gives the best response with triangular membership function and centroid defuzzification method.

(WWTP) must remain in a specific range while the factory operates. The
augmented positive identification (PID) controller with a nonlinear element
(sigmoid function) is proposed to assure stability and reduce uncertainties in
the wastewater direct reuse/recycling model. The nonlinear controller gains
(PID controller with sigmoid function) for uncertain wastewater treatment
processes are tuned using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique.
The proposed robust method for controlling wastewater treatment processes
has good robustness during model mismatching, reduces treatment time
compared to traditional positive identification (PID) controllers tuned by
PSO, is easy to apply, and has good performance, according to simulation
results.

In this paper we present a new method for tuning PI controllers with symmetric send-on-delta (SSOD) sampling strategy. First we analyze the conditions that produce oscillations in event based systems considering SSOD sampling strategy. The Describing Function is the tool used to address the problem. Once the conditions for oscillations are established, a new robustness to oscillation performance measure is introduced which entails with the concept of phase margin, one of the most traditional measures of relative stability in closed-loop control systems. Therefore, the application of the proposed robustness measure is easy and intuitive. The method is tested by both simulations and experiments. Additionally, a Java application has been developed to aid in the design according to the results presented in the paper.

In this paper an approach to design auto tuned decentralized PI controller using ideal decoupler and adaptive techniques for controlling a class of multivariable process with a transmission zero. By using decoupler, the MIMO system is transformed into two SISO systems. The controller parameters were adjusted using the Model Reference Adaptive reference Control. In recent process industries, PID and MRAC are the two widely accepted control strategies, where PID is used at regulatory level control and MRAC at supervisory level control. In this project, LabVIEW is used to simulate the PID with Decoupler and MRAC separately and analyze their performance based on steady state error tracking and overshoot.

This document compares the performance of PID, PI, and MPC controllers for controlling water level in a tank process. Results show that this kind of controllers is more fragile with respect to the standard proportional-integral-derivative controllers and therefore a significant attention should be paid by the user in their tuning.

This document presents a comparison of PID and fuzzy PID controllers for position control of a DC motor. It first describes the modeling of a DC motor transfer function. It then provides details on designing a PID controller using Ziegler-Nichols tuning methods. A fuzzy PID controller is also designed using triangular membership functions for error and change in error inputs. Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink show that the fuzzy PID controller provides better tracking of setpoint changes with less overshoot compared to the ZN-tuned PID controller. The fuzzy PID controller therefore demonstrates better performance for position control of DC motors.

An improved technique for the design of decentralized dynamic decoupled proportional-integral (PI) controllers to control many variables of column flotation was developed and implemented in this paper. This work was motivated by challenges when working with multiple inputs and multiple outputs (MIMO) systems that are not controllable by conventional linear feedback controllers. Conventional feedback control design consists of various drawbacks when it comes to complex industrial processes. The introduction of decentralization, decoupling, and many advanced controls design methods overcomes these drawbacks. Hence, the design and implementation of control systems that mitigate stability for MIMO systems are important. The developed closed-loop model of the flotation process is implemented in a real-time platform using TwinCAT 3.1 automation software and CX5020 Beckhoff programmable logic controllers (PLC) through the model transformation technique. The reasons for using the CX5020 as an implementation environment were motivated by the reliability, and is built according to new industry standards, allowing transformation, which makes it more advantageous to be used more than any other PLCs. This is done to validate the effectiveness of the recommended technique and prove its usability for any multivariable system. Comparable numerical results are presented, and they imply that industrial usage of this method is highly recommended.
