Submarines impact in war
Intro: Submarines are cool because they can travel underwater and shoot weapons. The
submarines were made to destroy everything which they did. The very first submarine floated on
top and it could only go down underwater for a couple of seconds. Today s submarines can drive
underwater forever. I m going to talking about how they impacted many different kinds of wars.
Body: My first war that submarines impacted was the Civil War. The Confederates called them
submarines David because of the bible s legendary giant slayer david. The United States first

Essay On Google Driverless Cars
The biggest compliment you could possibly give the Google driverless car team is that experiencing
their groundbreaking product feels utterly unremarkable. Dull, even.
But there s more than meets the eyes.
On October second 2015, Dave lee and a group of reporters were given an opportunity to ride in two
of their driverless vehicles.
The first was a modified Lexus that has been out on the streets around here for well over a year now,
and is improving and learning every day as new scenarios are logged and analyzed by the team.
This version, which is the most ready for the roads, though still years off, is essentially a normal car,
except it drives itself.
The second car was more interesting, and is a better reflection of where Google is ultimately ... Show

No steering wheel. No pedals. Nothing really save for a couple of chairs with a control panel in
between.
The prototype was unveiled earlier this year, but we didn t hear much about it. Now, Google had set
up an obstacle course on top of one of its buildings. Across the makeshift course were hazards a child
on a bike, a car pulling out, a man walking aimlessly in front of the car. Naturally, the car dealt with
all this impeccably.
The group of reporters shared their ride with the Guardian s jemima kiss, and while Google wouldn t
let Dave and the reporter s film or take pictures in the vehicle they did convince them to let them
record their experience for that week s edition of Tech Tent. So why unremarkable? Well, like any
good technology, the driverless car technology just works.
As much as Dave like to write about the white knuckle Oh my gosh, there s no driver! ride he had in a
prototype car, that really wasn t the case.
It was slow. It was cautious. It was safe, a more attentive driver than any human could possibly ever
be.
The pod demo was in a highly controlled environment. Nothing was ever going to go wrong (although
there is a big, fat emergency stop button in the car if needs

Million Dollar Band Research Paper
Alabama s Million Dollar Marching owes its success to its directors, various sections, and the
upbringings of the band. The band s first conductor, Colonel Carleton Butler, began the band as a
military band in 1914. He was nicknamed the Father of the Million Dollar Band . His music style
included high paced tempos with quick stepping to elaborate maneuvers. Accuracy and style were the
key points to all his performances. He has won many awards such as being given the title of Honorary
Colonel in the Great State of Alabama by Governor John Patterson in 1959. Butler s most outstanding
achievement was being elected the first president of the newly founded Alabama Bandmasters

He previously worked as a band director at the University of Mississippi. He heard that Alabama s
band was struggling financially due to only having less than 125 members and wanted to lend a hand.
He based his music selection on what he called The Trifecta. The Trifecta consisted of music Ferguson
thought was worth playing, music students liked, and music he liked. He left the band in 1984 to
pursue a career in the computer software business. The band had around 225 musicians and 35 to 40
color guard members and majorettes, which gave the band its nickname Fat Albert. James Ferguson
left the band with the words, I was interested in music being played well by young people...I wanted
people at the game to enjoy watching the band and be proud of it... Today, the band consists of 400
members, divided into sections by instrument sound. The most important part of the band are the drum
majors. The drum majors jobs include leading rehearsals five day a week, organizing Saturday s pep
rallied, and bonding with their fellow band members. They also must be in control of the football
game. This means they must know what is going on in the game at all time, in order to call for the
appropriate songs or stadium cheers. The most difficult part of their job is providing their fans with the
level of excellence and finesse that people expect of the Million Dollar

Don t Forget To Like, Share and Subscribe: A Critical Evaluation of the Contemporary Issues in Social
Media The recent explosion in computer mediated communication has led to a phenomenal up surge
in the availability and use of social networking sites. Dictionary.com describes the term social
networking as an online community of people with a common interest who use a website or other
technologies to communicate with each other and share information, resources, etc. and, within the
last 10/15 years, there have been significant developments in technology making these online
communities even easier to access. During the late 90 s and early 2000s, there was limited
interactivity on computers and internet speeds; this is what s known as Web 1.0. In 1995, Clifford
Stoll wrote an article for Newsweek titled The Internet? Bah! Hype alert: Why cyberspace isn t, and
will never be, nirvana . In his article, he went on to describe what little faith he has in the internet
lasting very long and that he thought it was just a temporary craze . Little did he know that by the year
2012, some 2 billion people around the world be using the internet and social media via computers,
smartphones, tablet devices and consoles as well as internet enabled televisions and e readers . With
the vast developments in mobile technology, faster internet speeds, GPS, tablet devices, ect, social

Gender Inequality In America
As the inequalities in this world are increasing, the amount of people aware of it is decreasing. People
s views on inequalities have been advancing for years; but as it became more common people have
stopped noticing these social injustices. As the world is transitioning, people s views on gender and
race are developing with it and it is for the worse.
On the streets of America, gender inequality has been happening everywhere. Only 3% of all the street
signs in America have female names and there are more than a trillion street signs in America. The
other 97% of street signs have names of famous people around the world and presidents, which are all
men. Some of the most common street names in the country are Park, Dogwood, Lee, Magnolia,

Factors Affecting Sickle Cell Anemia
There are many disorders that affect the red blood cells. The most common disorder is sickle cell
anemia. Sickle cell anemia is a hereditary blood disorder that affects the protein hemoglobin in red
blood cells ( What is Sickle Cell Disease , 2015). The protein hemoglobin S is changed and this affects
the way it works. Sickle cell anemia gene is passed down by the parents. If one parent has the
hemoglobin S gene of sickle cell, the child will have the sickle cell trait ( What is... , 2015). If both
parents have the gene of sickle cell, the child will have sickle cell disease. Sickle cell is most common
in African Americans ( What is... , 2015). Common symptoms of sickle cell anemia are fatigue, pain in
the back, chest, legs, and arms and swelling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red blood cells deliver oxygen throughout the body, deliver carbon dioxide to the lungs and other
nutrients for the body (Bailey, 2013). They have the protein hemoglobin A ( What is... , 2015). Normal
red blood cells can live up to 120 days ( What is... , 2015). Normal red blood cells are disc shaped or
bi concaved. This shape helps with the cells ability to move through all sizes of blood vessels and
capillaries in the body to deliver oxygen and other nutrients ( What is... , 2015). Red blood cells
transport is an example of passive transport (Bailey, 2013). Contrary, sickle cells are crescent shaped.
These cells form stiff rods within the cell creating that sickle shape ( What is... , 2015). The cellular
transport of sickle cells is difficult because of its shape. Sickle cells cannot flow as easily through
blood vessels and capillaries. They can cause blood vessel blockages which can stop blood flow (
What is the difference? , 2008). Without the normal flow of blood, oxygen is not delivered. Oxygen
deficiency can cause many problems in the body. Lack of oxygen can cause severe pain attacks called
pain crises for sickle cell anemia patients ( What is... , 2015). Organ damage can also occur. Most
sickle cells live up to 20 days; because of their shape, they burst easily ( What is... , 2015). The
number of red blood cells is lower in sickle cell anemia patients because the body has a hard time

What Is A Bad Idea To Legalize Drugs
What can be considered by far the most terrible evil, exciting an increasing number of very young
people who cannot in consequence of the normal full life? Evil, which first brings joy, then life turns
into a nightmare? Evil that breaks the health and life of the person obeyed it, all his family and
friends? Evil, which spreads very quickly, while hitting not only the body but also the soul of person?
Some people want to earn money from this evil, others are trying to escape from reality, and others are
looking for new sensations, trying to try everything in life. This is war, disaster and epidemic at the
same time. Escape is very difficult, almost impossible. This evil drug. I think that is a bad idea to

Drug addiction, as emphasized by the experts of the World Health Organization, is the biggest threat
to health worldwide.
Drugs known to people for thousands of years. They are consumed by people of different cultures and
different purposes: during religious ceremonies, to recuperate, to change the consciousness, to relieve
pain and discomfort. Already in preliterate period, we have evidence that people knew and used
psychoactive chemical substances: alcohol and plants, the consumption of which affects the mind.
Until the early 20th century there were virtually no restrictions on the production and consumption of
drugs. Interestingly, many new or well forgotten old drugs were first utilized in the United States, and
then they spread in other countries, so that America is as it set the tone in the international drug use.
Why, despite all the horrors, which results in the consumption of psychoactive substances, people, and
especially young people, continue to do so? Stimulants allow a young man to escape from reality, not
satisfied with his world in new and unusual experiences and sensations that were not previously
available to it.
Entering into adolescence, the young man is faced with a huge number of previously unknown to him
the problems. New knowledge required teenager, do not lie in the field of thought and understanding,

Robert Dahl Pluralism
Robert Dahl in Dilemmas of Pluralist Democracy (1982) realizes that there are several issues to
understanding the term democracy and the antiquated meaning that it has. In this reading, Dahl also
addresses domination and how power and its influence are allocated in the political process through
interest groups and organized political parties. On the first concept, Dahl attempts to give democracy a
more adequate meaning to the modern world. He coins the term Polyarchy where society tries to
implement democracy in large scale governments, also known as countries. (pg. 131) This is Dahl s
response to knowing that in all democratized countries there are organizations or independent factions
that exist. For Dahl this freedom to assemble is known as a pluralist democracy and shows that a
country that is exercising democratic pluralism is one where polyarchy and important groups are
autonomous. Pg. 132 As a result, Dahl concludes that any country that is democratic is considered a
pluralist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sets a criteria based on his observations of the ideals of Democracy. These ideals consist of 5
qualities that must exist in order for a democracy to function. In his observations he identifies the
following: 1. Equality in voting, 2. Effective participation, 3. Enlightened understanding, 4. Final
control over the agenda, and 5. Inclusion. Dahl then discovers a dilemma in pluralist democracy. This
dilemma is in understanding that people aren t autonomous if their decision making process fails to
satisfy the criteria above and that also if the political process were to meet the criteria in its entirety.
Then people ironically could not govern themselves as a result. (pg. 133) Dahl s critique is that since
democracy is related to the idea of people being autonomous, then therefore a decision making
process can only be democratic if and only if it meets these criteria. (pg.

The Birth Control Of Women
Appropriately called by some one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, the birth control pill
has absolutely revolutionized the lives of women around the globe. As an effective means to control if
and when a woman has a child, the pill opened up doors to spaces where women weren t allowed
prior. A person controlling their own fertility is an essential component of creating economic security,
limiting unwanted pregnancies, and creating healthier families. There are many new options for
contraception for women today, but the pill was the original catalyst in the United States for women
claiming control over their fertility, career, and overall health status. The concept of family planning
can be traced back to a nurse, sex educator, and political activist names Margaret Sanger. Born in 1879
to a large family (and her mother subsequently died during Margaret s birth), she was passionate about
the ability for women to control their fertility and own their sexuality. Sanger is credited with opening
the first birth control clinic in the United States in 1916 (Planned Parenthood, 2013). She went on to
found the American Birth Control League, which eventually became Planned Parenthood. Fighting for
reproductive justice through advocacy and clinics was just the beginning, however, as Sanger had an
ultimate goal: a birth control pill. Being the dream she always wanted to have realized, Sanger teamed
up with an experimental biologist and friend, Katherine Dexter

Essay on Comparison of Animal Rights Texts

animals is wrong because they are cute etc. The second extract is aimed at adults who are interested in

I find this rather effective and it would catch my eye if I glanced at the article and draw my attention

On the Animal Rights Leaflet there is a main image of a dog on the front, which I think appears to be
crying. This looks the part and the dog really does look sad. This attracts attention as if the dog was
crying for help. The use of colour is used well as the picture of the dog is a golden brown shade,
which is very attractive I would say. People will instantly want to read this leaflet because of the
expression on the dog s face. On the back of the leaflet there is picture of a mouse with some sort of
growth coming off its side, I suspect that this is a tumour of some sorts. Personally I don t find this
disturbing but a vast majority of the public will do and will never want that to happen again so they
will want to pledge money to help stop animal experimentation. There is another picture of a monkey
of some sorts and it appears to be very sad as if it has been tortured etc. I think the choice of pictures
on this leaflet is rather good and will help put the point across to the reader.
The newspaper articles picture is very plain and boring. It is just a

The Body As A Metaphor For Society
In Andean society many societies and cultures generally believed that all things, such as mountains,
rivers, and waterfalls had life (Benson 2001: 1). The Andean individuals believed that all inanimate
objects were thus animated. This ideology not only influenced the way they thought about the world,
but also the way they treated and viewed the body. The body is a very important and useful theme in
archeology as the body acts as a metaphor for society, the way a society/culture treats the body
provides vital important regarding their worldview. In addition, the body is a tool of lived experience
which can indicate how individuals lived, what was sacred or important to them and also shedding
light on who they were. In other words, by understanding how bodies were conceptualized in Andean
societies archeologist can indicate the significance of certain ritual practices. It is important to
deconstruct the body as it provides social truths regarding a specific culture within the Andean region.
Furthermore, people do things to their bodies which may help archeologists understand their belief
system, the practices/work they may have been doing. For example, if an individual spends their
whole life grinding corn the body would reflect this activity and thus would be able provide
information regarding that culture. This theme concerning the body pushes us to consider distinct
ontologies as different cultures and societies developed differently and thus has diverse beliefs,

Apollo Belvedere Vs. Aulus Metellus
Both sculptures have one arm raised, Apollo Belvedere has his left arm raised to signify that he was
holding a bow. Aulus Metellus has his right arm raised to show that he was speaking to the people.
The facial features of the two are similar because both of their eyes are inlaid and their mouth s are
closed. They both are wearing sandals on their feet. The draping detail on Apollo s robe and Aulus s
toga are similar as well. Visual similarities are the only things that are obvious to me. The Roman
sculpture of Apollo Belvedere is much more realistic than the Roman Etruscan sculpture of Aulus
Metellus. The anatomy of Apollo is much more apparent, such as the detail in the torso, the detail in
his muscular legs and his sandals. The Roman society

Blank Verses in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Essay
Epic, Passionate and Poetic. Romeo and Juliet is written in blank verse. This simply means unrhymed
iambic pentameter. For example, Two households, both alike in dignity In fair Verona, where we lay
our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star crossed lovers take their life. It may seem
melodramatic , but it s perfect for the play. Shakespeare makes it work by the plot actually living up to
the hype (Romeo and Juliet Writing Style). It truly entices the heart of the reader as they empathize
with the protagonists universal, unconditional and ideal romance, the portrayal of perfect, undying

Shakespeare really stresses in all these scenes the ease in which messages can go wrong (Huntley).
When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He suddenly makes the
decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the one he delivers in the
tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans and executes (Huntley).
The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all throughout music, literature, dance, and
theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense alternation of mood that enliven the speech.
Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him
advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is
not this better now than groaning for love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art
thou what thou art, by art as well as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo
here has not found his identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he
shares with Juliet. Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition
of A plague a both your houses! right before his death. The main concern for the two lovers though is
keeping their marriage secret. They hope to one day bring peace among the feuding families but are
distraught. In Juliet s balcony speech you hear this concern. O

Affluenza Arguments
Affluenza Anyone who kills innocent people should not be able to avoid jail just because their family
is rich. Ethan Couch a teenager killed 4 innocent people and injuring 2 of his passengers while driving
drunk. For his actions he was supposed to go to jail but instead got probation for being diagnosed with
affluenza. Which is when someone does not understand or control what they do simply because they
come from a rich family. Affluenza is not an acceptable reason for someone to avoid jail time because
he is old enough to know what was right or wrong and he is no different from any other kids. Some
people might argue that affluenza is a good enough reason to avoid jail. These people believe this
because they say that he is yet still undeveloped and his parents didn t teach him anything. For

Sternocleidomastoid
The sternocleidomastoid are muscles that are considered accessory. They are active for inhalation
when needs increase or during high lung volumes as in hyperinflation. These muscles pull the sternum
up and increase the size of the upper rib cage in the AP dimension, sometimes taught as pump handle
elevation. These accessory muscles are affected by the position of the diaphragm and changes in the
ZOA.10Kyndy The diaphragm displaces the abdomen and the rib cage equally during quiet breathing.
If the resting tone in the oblique abdominals is insufficient, more than half of the expansion would go
into abdominal expansion allowing for superior migration of the anterior aspect of the rib cage. This
would decrease the ZOA, change the muscle lengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weakness in the abdominals can have a snowball effect on posture and will be discussed later.1 Like
the diaphragm, the transversus abdominis modulates its activity for both postural and respiratory
functions, unlike the other abdominal muscles. It is not active during quite breathing but becomes
active as the demands for expiration increase. Its EMG activity is therefore out of phase with EMG
activity by the diaphragm. 8,11Hodges/Gandevia 2000 and Hodges/Gandevia/Richardson Various
studies have shown that the diaphragm and the transversus abdominis simultaneously contract prior to
movements in the extremities. Hodges et al demonstrated this co activation 20ms prior to the
activation of the deltoid when the subject was asked to move an arm into flexion.8
Hodges/Gandevia/Richardson. Hodges monitored the diaphragm by measuring the length of the ZOA
because it+ is closely associated with the length of the diaphragm. He believed that the diaphragm+
was contributing to postural stability by, maintaining the hoop like geometry of the abdominal
wall.Hodges19 Vostatek stated that the diaphragm was contracting in order to provide abdominal
pressure for stabilization of the spine. He also stated that the ribs needed to stay down and only

The Underdevelopment of Bharat A 31 year old man from the nearby village is scrounging for food,
clothes, and coins to provide for his family. His drunken behavior, rag like clothing, half shaven face,

and inexperienced lawyer, fresh out of grad school, takes the job that should have been his. Did I
mention this man sitting on the curb passed law school with perfect marks, glowing recommendations,
and in field experience but was turned down because his family was poor and from a lower caste? This
man is the victim of the poverty epidemic in India. Poverty is still prevalent in India because various
requirements by society and government restrict the options for third world citizens who are job

overcoming social obstacles, and maintaining economic relations because these citizens have the most
difficulty obtaining a sufficient job as the restrictions are detrimental to job creation.

What Does Culture Affect Hr Philosophy, Policies And...
1. Culture gives societies their distinctive flavor and provides a guide as to how people interact and
what they expect from one another. How does culture affect HR philosophy, policies and programs?
Culture consists of symbolic system of values, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about appropriate
behaviors that are shared in our society as a way of life. In other words, culture is a set of meanings
(senses) and values that inform a particular way of life. It is lifestyle that shape and form a particular
human group. For this reason it is important to recognize that culture affect human resource
philosophy, policies and programs in the structure of organizations.
Culture affects organizations because their individuals are influenced by cognitive and motivational
perspectives. From a cognitive perspective, individuals are able to learn from different sets of values
that permit them to organize and process information about human resources management practices.
And, from the motivational perspective, we can understand how individuals view themselves and their
relationship with others. Both perspectives, cognitive and motivational, permit to have knowledge
about the mechanism of cultural influences in the human resources philosophy, policies and programs
in the organizations.
In addition, according to David Thomas and Mila Lazarova, there are two mechanisms that influence
and might be identified in the organizational structure: First, the organizational structure

North Carolina Biodiversity Loss
Two words that can summarize the effects of climate change, over population, global warming, and
deforestation is biodiversity loss. Biodiversity is the variety of life on the Earth or in an ecosystem.
Biodiversity loss happens all over the world and continues to this day which can bring a major disaster
to life. Biodiversity loss in North Carolina started when humans overpopulated the environment and

Legalizing Tattooing in South Carolina Essay
What is tattooing?
Tattooing is the art of marking the skin with indelible patterns, pictures, or legends by making pricks
and inserting colored ink. The word itself has its origins in the South Pacific. The art had been referred
to as pricking, scarring, or staining until explorer Captain James Cook encountered the indigenous
peoples of Tahiti. (Wilkinson 6)
Tattooing is not just a recent fad. Tattooing has been around for a very long time. The current first
proven incident of a tattoo dates back 4,000 years B.C. a traveler was found in Italy near Austria,
preserved in the permafrost of a glacier. Carbon dating and arte facts found near him suggest that he is
over 5,300 years old (Tattoos and Design). Tattoos have been used ... Show more content on

The station later aired the film, landing White in jail under Section 16 17 700 of the S.C. Code of
Laws, which makes it illegal for someone to tattoo another person. The only exception allowed for in
the statute, which is listed in the Offenses Against Public Policy section of the code, is a licensed
doctor, and only if the doctor believes it is necessary when performing cosmetic or reconstructive
surgery.
Tattoos have become increasingly popular recently according to American Academy of Dermatology
stating In fact, the number of tattoo studios has grown from 300 to over 4,000 nationally in the past 20
years. From tribal art to cartoon pictures, more and more people are getting decorated with ink. There
are mixed feelings about whether or not South Carolina and Oklahoma should legalize tattooing. Most
arguments against legalizing tattooing are irrelevant. South Carolina could gain much by legalizing
the art form and therefore should.
Some people that are against tattooing argue that it is a permanent marking. They argue that if
someone changes their mind about their tattoo, they are still stuck with it forever. All too many teens
make the decision to be tattooed or pierced based on misinformation. Others simply lack important
knowledge about the procedures (Reybold 38). Since most humans change their

Julius Caesar Tragic Figure Quotes
After reading the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, think who best fits the role of a tragic figure
In this play? There are many tragic figures, but the one who stands out the most and who practically
defines the play as a tragedy would be Brutus. In the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare
portrays Brutus as the tragic figure. Marcus Brutus fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic figure.
Aristotle s definition explains a tragic figure as a [great] man who is neither a paragon of virtue and
justice nor undergoes the change to misfortune through any real badness or wickedness but because of
some mistake.
Aristotle defines a great man as a man of noble birth who is neither a model of perfection nor totally
evil. He defines a mistake or hamartia as a flaw. The great man falls through though not entirely
because of some weakness of character, some moral blindness, or error. Brutus fits this description,

In this quote, Cassius (a conspirator) is referring to Caesar. Cassius is very envious of Caesar and
doesn t think that Caesar should have all of the power because he wants it for himself. This is also
how the rest of the conspirators (aside from Brutus) feel. The conspirators jealousy is their motivation
for wanting Caesar dead. Whether or not Brutus decision to join the conspirators and their pan for
murder is a mistake is debatable. However, it is obvious that the decision is what led to the misfortune/
fall of Brutus character. Brutus explains to Cassius No, Cassius, no. Think not, thou noble Roman, that
ever Brutus will go bound to Rome; he bears too great a mind. But this same day must end that work

The Late Devonian Mass Extinction Period
Mass extinction is defined as the global decrease in diversification during a period of time reasons due
to any events that occurred in history of earth. Mass extinction occurs when a great number of species
goes into extinction globally.
The Late Devonian mass extinction is one the Big Five mass extinction in history of earth which
occurred 374.5Ma ago. This extinction event saw at least 70% of species perished; where main victim
of this extinction event were the major reef builders, stromotopoids, rugose and tabulate corals
(McGHee 2012). Causes of this mass extinction event during the late Devonian gathered a wide
variety of debate throughout the years whereby researchers researched substantial theories supported
by evidences. The few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because most of the species that extinct during this period were warm water marine species.
The sudden change in global temperature could lead to this mass extinction (Elewa 2008). Evidences
of glaciation in Gondwana which were found in Northern Brazil further strengthen and support this
argument (Elewa 2008). The earth was cooled by the effects from asteroid impacts, volcanic eruptions,
biological and chemical weathering was proposed as the cause of mass extinction (McGHee 2012).
Asteroid impact causing global cooling is termed as the impact winter theory, whereby the impact of
an asteroid injects mass amount of debris, ash and gasses into the atmosphere which blocks sunlight
from reaching the earth surface causing massive glaciation (McGHee 2012). Sweden, Siljan crater is
an evidence of aestroid impact evidence (McGHee 2012), however recent dating using conodonts
stated that the asteroid impact affecting the mass extincition is not viable as the F F boundary
conodonts was deposited below the iridium layer(Trinajstic pers. comm. 2014). The massive tectonic
movement as continental plates were merging to form super continent Gondwana, caused high
volcanic activity during that period (McGHee 2012). Volcanic activites which is termed as winter
volcanic hypothesis induces the same effect as the impact winter theory as mentioned above. An
example would be the Viluy Trap which erupted within the critical time frame in Late Devonian was
one of the key supporting evidence for this hypothesis (McGHee 2012). Biological and chemical
weatherings are two glaciation theories which occurred gradually over a longer period of time. It was
believed that it caused a reverse greenhouse effect which increased the concentration of oxygen and
caused a reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Vast number of plants that bloomed during
the Devonian is one of the examples of biological

How Did North American Civilization Affect The Social...
Prior to European colonization, North America was home to many Native American Tribes. These
tribes spoke many different languages, had diverse social customs, and had different resources
available to them depending upon location. Two prominent native groups were the Pueblo People of
the Southwest, and the Tribes of the Mississippi River Valley. While these groups had some prominent
similarities, there were, in fact, many differences between them. The Pueblo People of the Southwest
inhabited thriving settlements in what are now Arizona, and New Mexico. Pueblo People had very
interesting living situations. They lived in multistoried buildings, which they shared with several other
families. These homes were built in place of the Anasazi settlements that had existed several years
before. Mississippians, however, lived in relatively small communities (typically between 500 and
2000 people) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agriculture flourished in the southwest due to an elaborate system of canals, dams, and terraces which
helped crops thrive in the warm climate. The pueblo diet, much like that of the Anasazi before them,
consisted of brown beans, corn and squash. The Pueblo people also domesticated turkeys, and used
dogs to hunt wild game. The Pueblo thrived as far as agriculture was concerned. The warm climate
made for reliable food sources which kept them strong. This was likely helpful in their revolt against
the Spanish, as well as in future encounters with the Europeans. The tribes of the Mississippi River
Valley struggled with agriculture. The Little Ice Age, which took place from 1350 to 1800, had a
detrimental effect on the climate, and made it difficult to successfully grow crops. The poor weather,
along with the fact that wars were becoming more frequent, did not benefit Mississippians. Starvation
became more and more prevalent as crops were not growing, and it was too dangerous to hunt due to

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Essay
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, otherwise known as SNAP, originates from the
Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933. It was established in the Great Depression era as the Federal
Surplus Relief Corporation when crop prices fell drastically and farms were struggling to deal with the
excess supply. The Federal government bought the surplus as discounted prices and distributed them
to hunger relief agencies. In 1939 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal program, the
Food Stamp Plan was created by Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace to formalize the food
distribution efforts. Although this initial program ceased in 1943 because of a decrease in the number
of people living in poverty, it was reintroduced in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy through a food
stamp pilot program. In 1964, the Food Stamp Act was passed by President Lyndon Johnson. This
program required the purchase of stamps based on the participant s income level to permit the
purchase of low cost nutritional food. After a program revision in 1977 which ended the requirement
for participants to purchase stamps, a nutritional educational program called SNAP Education was
added to the food stamp program in 1981. This program allowed states to apply for matching funds
from the Federal government to deliver nutrition education to eligible persons. In the 1990s, efforts
were made to streamline administration of the program which included the introduction of an

In today s society, high testosterone levels are discouraged. In a world where we work in cubicles,
where violence gets you sent to prison, and where we are required to swallow our pride, to do what we

Okay, before you dismiss me as a conspiracy theorist, take note that the Soviets were the first to add
fluoride to the drinking water, in prisons. They wanted to decrease testosterone levels, and to make
prisoners submissive. Considering testosterone is the driving force behind the courage of men, and I

Now that you are ready to commit to a lifestyle that allows for the highest possible testosterone levels,

Gloria Naylor The Meanings Of A Word Summary
Words are like an appearance. With each syllable, they can express each element that is in the depth of
an individual s mind and their personality. Like the appearance, society will judge an individual based
on the words that they choose and in the context that it is used in. In reference to the quote from the
article The Meanings of a Word by Gloria Naylor Words themselves are innocuous; it is the consensus
that gives them true power. Gloria Naylor explains that words themselves are not harmful or
destructive, but it depends on context and the person who chooses to use the words and in a
derogatory manner. For example, in reference to a quote in Gloria Naylor s article The one syllable
word was drawn out to sound three in recognition of the extra ounce of wit, nerve, or daring that the
women had shown in the situation under discussion. G i r l, stop. You mean you said that to his face.?
But if the word was used in a third person reference or shortened so that it almost snapped out of the
mouth it always involved some element of communal disapproval. Just like Gloria Naylor states in her
article if a person was to use the word in a way that is considered disrespectful its current society the
person will be looked down upon and treated as a social outcast.
The meaning of words change over time. Some of the words that were considered highly offensive
and unacceptable in the past are now presently used in a kind hearted manner and a way to
communicate in this current generation. A major factor includes the time period. For example the term
bad is used to describe somebody or something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A cross tabulation is a two dimensional frequency distribution of two nominal or ordinal variables that

Emily Dickinson Poetry Essay
Emily Dickinson s Poetry
There is a lot more to poetry than just the words themselves. What William Shakespeare called, the
mind s eye also plays a role (Borus34). What that means is that your experiences and thoughts will
add to your understanding. Dickinson had an active mind and a style so unique and unusual with her
writing. Something that was very unusual about her writing was that she never put a title to her poems.
Just like many poets, she used a wide assortment of literary devices such as, metaphor, simile,
alliteration, and symbolism. Unlike many writers of her time, Dickinson did not use conventional
rhyme, capitalization, or punctuation (Borus36). For example, she would put dashes not just at the end

A Streetcar Named Desire Critical Lens Essay
A Streetcar Named The Double Standard Tennessee William s A Streetcar Named Desire is a play that
tells the tale of a family in 1940 s New Orleans. It examines the issues of delusion, escapism, the
pitfalls of desire, and the idea that people are reluctant to see the truth when it deviates from what their
perception or what they want from the world. This is all done from a variety of critical lenses. The
aforementioned critical lens is mostly simply defined as a specific way of looking at a text, by keeping
certain questions and ideas in mind. This is important, as it allows the reader to understand a work
beyond a mere two dimensional point of view by analysis on another layer, with certain key factors in

months. Most symptoms of mono tend to appear within 4 to 6 weeks after contracting mono. Common
symptoms of mononucleosis are severe fatigue, headaches, jaundice, tiny red spots inside the mouth,
sore throat, chills, fevers, body aches, rash, swollen lymph nodes in the neck and armpits and a
swollen liver or spleen or possibly both. Being that these symptoms are also found in other contagious
illnesses, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, Mono can be spread without a person even knowing that they are contagious. Most people
recover within two to four weeks but there are a small percentage of people who continue to feel ill for
weeks thereafter. Medical treatment of mononucleosis includes the steroid prednisone, ibuprofen or
acetaminophen for fever and sore throat. For the most part, mononucleosis can be treated at home, by
getting rest. Once a person has had mono, some may experience the sequelae of the disease.
Respiratory sequelae may consist of mediastinal lymphadenopathy, myocarditis, plural effusion
interstitial pneumonitis, respiratory failure, and pneumonia. (S. J. Saccomano (June 2013): p42) What
is commonly reported is chronic fatigue syndrome, although others can experience weakness, swollen
tonsils, edema in the pharyngeal tissue, meningitis, encephalitis, Guillain Barre syndrome and less
common but others can experience a splenic

Social Communication And Rehabilitation Of Adolescents...
Social Communication and Rehabilitation of Adolescents with Traumatic Brain Injury
Introduction Adolescence, the time between puberty and adulthood, is marked by a shift toward
greater reliance on the peer group that the family, resulting in a greater need for more complex social
communication. It is also the age group which reports the highest incidents of traumatic brain injury
(Turkstra, 2004). One could surmise the many reasons for this increased risk taking or increased
participation in contact and/or extreme sports, for example. Because the adolescent brain is still
developing cognitive skills which support later developing communication skills such as figurative
language, complex pragmatic functions , and receptive and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

inhibition of behaviors, and planning as well as encoding and retrieval of semantic memory (Siddiqui,
2008). It therefore stands to reason that behavioral studies on tasks including inhibitory control,
processing speed, working memory and decision making continues to develop during adolescence...

in the frontal cortex (Blakemore, 2006, p. 301). The prefrontal cortex, which covers the anterior
portion of the frontal lobe, has been associated with both awareness and theory of mind, which are two
very important functions that are necessary for effective social communication (Blakemore, 2006).
Additionally, the surge of hormones during adolescence, the increased time spent with peers and the
continued development of emotion processing contribute to the rapid development and proliferation of
social communication at that age.
Assessment Just as with adults, the impact that a traumatic brain injury has on the communication
skills and their underlying cognitive processes of an adolescent depends greatly on the nature,
specifically location, and severity of the insult. Closed brain injuries in adolescents tend to damage the
prefrontal regions. As a result,

The Vapor Absorption System
1.4 VAPOR ABSORPTION SYSTEM
The attention of the vapor absorption system is growing in the past two decades. The major two
advantages are growing up this technology that is low carbon emission technology and low electrical
energy required. This system is operated with the help of low heating sources like solar power,
geothermal, waste heat, low pressure steam, and it contributes significant energy conservation.
Ecofriendly working fluid leads to reduce the global warming and ozone layer depletion. The
following reason is also growing the research interest of the system. It is suitable for small to very
large capacity. Operating cost is too less when compared with other commercial technology, and it is
required very less electrical energy to operate the pump. Less maintenance cost because of heat
exchangers and there are no moving parts in the system. The installation can be done in a remote area,
and it is movable. The system can be operated at various cold and refrigeration ranges from 15 to 25
°C.
1.4.1 Overview of Absorption Technology
William Cullen and Nairne invented the mechanical vapor compression system in 1755 and, it is one
of the oldest refrigeration device operated based on the absorption refrigeration principle. He made ice
by the distilling effect of evaporating the air. He placed water in contact with air under the receiver of
a vacuum pump. The pump accelerated evaporation of the air and the temperature significantly
reduced and; it freezes the water

throughout her life. She published poems such as The Visionary, Sympathy, and Encouragement.
These poems have lots of figurative language within them to be analyzed. Every poem an author
writes has a tie to their life that can be identified and traced. Emily Bronte was a very attentive and
sophistic poet. Bronte was a small town poet who lived through the 1800s. Bronte was born in
Thornton, Yorkshire on July thirtieth eighteen, eighteen. During her childhood, she had a poor and

When she wrote Encouragements, she was releasing her sorrow about her mother. The poem was
about Bronte s mother and her acceptance of her death. She talks about how no one should cry and
how her mother needs no one to cry. She is accepting it and at some point in her life, she would accept
it. She also questions her death and says to enjoy your life in the end. This would also go along with
the acceptance aspect. This poem would have been an essential writing in her life. This would have let
out all her held sadness and help her make more happy poems. Encouragement, was a very important
poem to Bronte that she wrote to release

Why Have Your Home Windows Tinted
Why Have Your Home Windows Tinted
When it comes to tinting windows, many people immediately think of the windows on their car. Home
windows can also be tinted, with them providing several benefits that you may not be aware of. Here
are three reasons to have your home windows tinted.
Window Tints Will Control UV Light Exposure
If your windows use regular glass that does not have a tint, it will allow ultraviolet light into your
home. While sunlight can be good to get your vitamin D, too much UV light could cause health issues
like skin cancer. You may be indoors as opposed to layout outdoors under the sun, but you are still at
risk of the health conditions that come with having too much sun exposure if you are not careful.

The Successful Formation Of A New Colony
Before organizing a colony, it is important to gain perspective and understand where colonies before
when right and where they also went wrong. Learning from their mistakes and capitalizing on the
positive aspects of different colonies can lead to the successful formation of a new colony in Illinois.
From what we already know, each colony in the New World was for the most part different. Some
were driven by religious ideas others were driven by the prospect of wealth. While colonies shared
some similarities, each had its own set of rules, policies, and way of life. Colonies such as
Pennsylvania and Massachusetts were vastly different even though they were both northern colonies
and religion was a driving force in the development of their colonies. There were also colonies that
were developed in hopes that prosperity was to be had by means of trade and cultivation. This
capitalist model was used by the colonies of Virginia and New Netherland (New York). However there
were colonies that simply did things their own way that was separate from everyone else. One of those
colonies were Carolina, which was setup by eight proprietors, businessmen, who hoped to rule every
aspect of their colony from government to religion this was now as the feudal model. The other colony
was Georgia, who took English debtors to work off their debts as part of their colony and as a hope to
alleviate the overpopulation in British settlements in the Caribbean, this was the philanthropical
model. These

In this reading, Dahl also addresses domination and how power and its influence are allocated in the political process through interest groups and organized political parties. On the first concept, Dahl attempts to give democracy a more adequate meaning to the modern world. He coins the term Polyarchy where society tries to implement democracy in large scale governments, also known as countries. (pg. 131) This is Dahl s response to knowing that in all democratized countries there are organizations or independent factions that exist. Dahl then discovers a dilemma in pluralist democracy. This dilemma is in understanding that people aren t autonomous if their decision making process fails to satisfy the criteria above and that also if the political process were to meet the criteria in its entirety. Then people ironically could not govern themselves as a result. There are many tragic figures, but the one who stands out the most and who practically defines the play as a tragedy would be Brutus. Aristotle s definition explains a tragic figure as a [great] man who is neither a paragon of virtue and justice nor undergoes the change to misfortune through any real badness or wickedness but because of some mistake. Aristotle defines a great man as a man of noble birth who is neither a model of perfection nor totally evil. He defines a mistake or hamartia as a flaw. The Late Devonian Mass Extinction Period Mass extinction is defined as the global decrease in diversification during a period of time reasons due to any events that occurred in history of earth. Mass extinction occurs when a great number of species goes into extinction globally. The Late Devonian mass extinction is one the Big Five mass extinction in history of earth which occurred 374.5Ma ago. This extinction event saw at least 70% of species perished; where main victim of this extinction event were the major reef builders, stromotopoids, rugose and tabulate corals (McGHee 2012). The few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because most of the species that extinct during this period were warm water marine species. The sudden change in global temperature could lead to this mass extinction (Elewa 2008). Evidences of glaciation in Gondwana which were found in Northern Brazil further strengthen and support this argument (Elewa 2008). The earth was cooled by the effects from asteroid impacts, volcanic eruptions, biological and chemical weathering was proposed as the cause of mass extinction (McGHee 2012). Asteroid impact causing global cooling is termed as the impact winter theory, whereby the impact of an asteroid injects mass amount of debris, ash and gasses into the atmosphere which blocks sunlight from reaching the earth surface causing massive glaciation (McGHee 2012). Sweden, Siljan crater is an evidence of aestroid impact evidence (McGHee 2012), however recent dating using conodonts stated that the asteroid impact affecting the mass extincition is not viable as the F F boundary conodonts was deposited below the iridium layer(Trinajstic pers. comm. 2014). The massive tectonic movement as continental plates were merging to form super continent Gondwana, caused high volcanic activity during that period (McGHee 2012). Volcanic activites which is termed as winter volcanic hypothesis induces the same effect as the impact winter theory as mentioned above. An example would be the Viluy Trap which erupted within the critical time frame in Late Devonian was one of the key supporting evidence for this hypothesis (McGHee 2012). Biological and chemical weatherings are two glaciation theories which occurred gradually over a longer period of time. These tribes spoke many different languages, had diverse social customs, and had different resources available to them depending upon location. Two prominent native groups were the Pueblo People of the Southwest, and the Tribes of the Mississippi River Valley. While these groups had some prominent similarities, there were, in fact, many differences between them. The Pueblo People of the Southwest inhabited thriving settlements in what are now Arizona, and New Mexico. Pueblo People had very interesting living situations. The Pueblo thrived as far as agriculture was concerned. The warm climate made for reliable food sources which kept them strong. This was likely helpful in their revolt against the Spanish, as well as in future encounters with the Europeans. The tribes of the Mississippi River Valley struggled with agriculture. It was established in the Great Depression era as the Federal Surplus Relief Corporation when crop prices fell drastically and farms were struggling to deal with the excess supply. The Federal government bought the surplus as discounted prices and distributed them to hunger relief agencies. In 1939 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal program, the Food Stamp Plan was created by Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace to formalize the food distribution efforts. Although this initial program ceased in 1943 because of a decrease in the number of people living in poverty, it was reintroduced in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy through a food stamp pilot program. In 1964, the Food Stamp Act was passed by President Lyndon Johnson. This program required the purchase of stamps based on the participant s income level to permit the purchase of low cost nutritional food. After a program revision in 1977 which ended the requirement for participants to purchase stamps, a nutritional educational program called SNAP Education was added to the food stamp program in 1981. • 34. Gloria Naylor The Meanings Of A Word Summary Words are like an appearance. With each syllable, they can express each element that is in the depth of an individual s mind and their personality. Like the appearance, society will judge an individual based on the words that they choose and in the context that it is used in. In reference to the quote from the article The Meanings of a Word by Gloria Naylor Words themselves are innocuous; it is the consensus that gives them true power. Gloria Naylor explains that words themselves are not harmful or destructive, but it depends on context and the person who chooses to use the words and in a derogatory manner. For example, in reference to a quote in Gloria Naylor s article The one syllable word was drawn out to sound three in recognition of the extra ounce of wit, nerve, or daring that the women had shown in the situation under discussion. G i r l, stop. You mean you said that to his face.? But if the word was used in a third person reference or shortened so that it almost snapped out of the mouth it always involved some element of communal disapproval. Just like Gloria Naylor states in her article if a person was to use the word in a way that is considered disrespectful its current society the person will be looked down upon and treated as a social outcast. The meaning of words change over time. Additionally, the surge of hormones during adolescence, the increased time spent with peers and the continued development of emotion processing contribute to the rapid development and proliferation of social communication at that age. Assessment Just as with adults, the impact that a traumatic brain injury has on the communication skills and their underlying cognitive processes of an adolescent depends greatly on the nature, specifically location, and severity of the insult. Closed brain injuries in adolescents tend to damage the prefrontal regions. As a result, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Vapor Absorption System 1.4 VAPOR ABSORPTION SYSTEM The attention of the vapor absorption system is growing in the past two decades. The major two advantages are growing up this technology that is low carbon emission technology and low electrical energy required. This system is operated with the help of low heating sources like solar power, geothermal, waste heat, low pressure steam, and it contributes significant energy conservation. Ecofriendly working fluid leads to reduce the global warming and ozone layer depletion. The following reason is also growing the research interest of the system. It is suitable for small to very large capacity. Operating cost is too less when compared with other commercial technology, and it is required very less electrical energy to operate the pump. Less maintenance cost because of heat exchangers and there are no moving parts in the system. The installation can be done in a remote area, and it is movable. The system can be operated at various cold and refrigeration ranges from 15 to 25 °C. 1.4.1 Overview of Absorption Technology William Cullen and Nairne invented the mechanical vapor compression system in 1755 and, it is one of the oldest refrigeration device operated based on the absorption refrigeration principle. He made ice by the distilling effect of evaporating the air. He placed water in contact with air under the receiver of a vacuum pump. The pump accelerated evaporation of the air and the temperature significantly reduced and; it freezes the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From what we already know, each colony in the New World was for the most part different. Some were driven by religious ideas others were driven by the prospect of wealth. While colonies shared some similarities, each had its own set of rules, policies, and way of life. Colonies such as Pennsylvania and Massachusetts were vastly different even though they were both northern colonies and religion was a driving force in the development of their colonies. There were also colonies that were developed in hopes that prosperity was to be had by means of trade and cultivation. This capitalist model was used by the colonies of Virginia and New Netherland (New York). However there were colonies that simply did things their own way that was separate from everyone else. One of those colonies were Carolina, which was setup by eight proprietors, businessmen, who hoped to rule every aspect of their colony from government to religion this was now as the feudal model.
