This document defines and provides examples of different types of clauses: 1) Clauses can be independent or subordinate, with independent clauses able to stand alone as a sentence and subordinate clauses providing modifying information. 2) Adjective clauses modify nouns, adverb clauses modify verbs or other clauses, and noun clauses function as subjects or objects. 3) Relative pronouns like "who", "that", and "which" often introduce adjective clauses, and subordinating conjunctions like "because", "when", and "if" often introduce adverb clauses.
