Burt’s Bees Case Analysis
Burt s Bees Case Analysis

Evaluation of Opportunities in the case
To evaluate the opportunities for Burt s Bees in the case we would need to do an internal analysis of
Burt s Bees i.e. look into its strengths, weaknesses, threat and opportunity vis à vis the competition
and the market scenario in 1997. Burt s Bees success was hard won through 18~ to 24 months of
pruning after the company s move from Guilford, Maine in 1994. Production was extremely labor
intensive in Maine due to the large supply of low paid unskilled labor, Burt s Bees had to automate
production in North Carolina, though, to minimize the cost of its highly paid skilled labor. Thus it is
important to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other players are investing huge amounts on expanding their distribution network and hence
expanding their customer base. Another internal threat is that Burt s Bees does not have the capability
to expand their manufacturing units and forward integrate them to their own retail outlets. This is not
only a huge risk but also a huge investment which if fails can take the company with it to the dust.
TWOS Analysis
Now, to analyze these facts and points in a better manner we should do a TOWS analysis. In this
analysis we try to see the Strength and weaknesses vis à vis the threats and opportunities in the
following manner:
Strength
Weakness
Opportunity
Match strengths to specific opportunities
You need to invest to overcome weakness or to compensate or negate
Weakness
Threat
These are strengths that can be used to reduce or avoid the consequences of a threat There may be
little that you can do to avoid the impact. Create or import
Strengths
This analysis can be done for Burt s Bees:
Strength
Weakness
Opportunity
The strength and opportunity lies in the all natural secret of Burt s Bees
The second thing to be mentioned here is the retail presence and the provision present for expansion in
this area
To tap the opportunity of leveraging on the all natural products, huge investment in terms of media
spends is required to position the product in the desired space in the

Analysis Of Mlk Letter To Martin Luther King
Today in the United States, we are told that we are one of the best when it comes to having freedom;
of course that was not always the case. As a nation, we have come a long way; but unfortunately we
still are not all equal. As for 53 years ago, Marin Luther King Jr. was the man trying his best to pave
the way for having equal freedoms for everyone, especially blacks. With the letter that MLK wrote, it
ended up being more than a letter, but a piece of literature that was eventually published in his book.
He is excellent when it comes to his words, he was able to speak his mind and portray his words
emotionally. His thoughts were well thought out and written passionately, especially since they were
written in a jail cell. This letter started a pivotal movement in the civil rights era, and is something
people will always be talking about for years to come. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is what started his ideas for making a movement. He was tired of waiting for the government to
do something about the unjust freedom that blacks have been getting. With this letter to the clergy
men, he hopes to insert emotion into the people to do what is right and to grant people with their God
given rights. I have never experienced oppression or seen a severe incident in person but I cannot
image what King and his family had to go through before and after him being arrested. I also could
not image what our world would took like today if this letter had never been written. If not, our whole
country could be oppressed and would still be running directly by the rich white communities. Obama
might not have ever become president because he would have still been in the minority where blacks
could not be a part of the government, let alone be able to

Virtual Private Network ( Vpn ) Service And Steps
This paper will cover Virtual Private Network (VPN) service and steps that should be taken prior to
setup. Emphasis will be on network and operating system for the VPN services. It will look at the
types of connections a small business might expect to encounter when using VPN s. The security
concerns of choices in the set up of the connections for both parties including: type of encryption
available and Firewall issues. Last of all what are the overall security concerns when using a VPN
including problems with a discussion of fixes and security patches. Security Concerns and the Use of
VPN for Small Businesses Small businesses often operate on a tight budget; recently VPN s have
become a very cost effective way for them to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before installing the VPN services, however, a number of things must be taken into consideration. By
evaluating who is using the VPN, the hardware necessary to make good connections, the pros and
cons of differing connection protocols, and evaluating past security problems, setting up the VPN
services becomes a much smoother process. VPN s and Firewalls Anyone who will be accessing the
VPN services should have a firewall in place.Once a VPN connection is established, the client is
essentially able to access information behind the company s firewall, thus creating an access hole.
Therefore, insisting a client use and maintain a firewall is another layer in the security of the VPN
setup. The ease of changing the firewall rules to allow VPN connections should be addressed. Very old
firewalls, either appliance types or software types, may be difficult or impossible to configure to allow
VPN access.A small business may stay with an old firewall for many reasons, one of which might be
the fact that there has been no reason to upgrade in the past. It would be prudent to check the firewall
documentation before becoming enmeshed in the VPN process, only to have it fail for lack of access,
or creating a setup that might be considered insecure. User Considerations When setting up the VPN
server(s) at the main office, who is using the connection and how much access to the internal network,

Essay On Healthcare Insurance
The United States Healthcare system is not a single payer healthcare system (Ridic, 2012). Insurance
can be provided through both private and public insurance marketplaces. Private insurance companies
include plans such as Managed Care Organizations (MCO s) that are mainly used by employers that
want to insure full time employees. There are two types of MCO s called Health Maintenance
Organizations (HMO s) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO s) (Ridic, 2012). Public insurance
companies include plans such as Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP ( (Health Insurance Marketplace).
Despite all of the health insurance options, 45 million Americans are living without insurance

The mandatory benefits that Medicaid insurance is federally required to cover include: Inpatient and
outpatient hospital services, early and periodic screening, diagnostic and treatment services, nursing
facility, home health and physician services, rural health clinic services, laboratorys and x rays, family
planning, nurse midwife, and freestanding birth center services, certified pediatric and family nurse
practitioner services, and medical transportation (Goldman, 2005). Along with the mandatory
requirements, there is also a list of optional benefits that many states are using to expand Medicaid.
These optional benefits include: prescription drugs, physical and occupational therapy, speech, hearing
and language disorders, respiratory care, podiatry and optometry, dental, prosthetics and eyeglasses,
chiropractic, personal care, hospice and private nursing services (Goldman, 2005). States also have the
option to charge premiums and establish out of pocket spending for Medicaid enrollees (CMCS, n.d.)
These out of pocket costs can include co payments and deductibles. However, certain groups including
children and pregnant women, are exempt from most out of pocket costs. States can also charge a
higher co pay when Medicaid enrolled individuals visit a hospital s emergency room for a non

Mitron Employee Performance Summary
There are some organizations that uses the team based pay approach to improve performance at the
organization (Balkin Montemayor, 2000). Team based bonuses may work for some business.
Consequently, I am not convinced that this approach is beneficial to Mitron. The scenario states that
technicians with multiple skills often have to fill in for those that are absent or lack the skill needed in
a team, that is needed to complete the production. That individual requires the flexibility to be rotated
to any given team, at any time. The technician at Mitron would only benefit from having the
knowledge or compensated for acquiring a skill related to the job. Furthermore, no additional
compensation would be granted for assisting in the task completion. The technician would receive
compensation as a team as do any other member of that team, that did not perform at the same rate.
Recommendations would be made to Holly for elimination of the team based bonuses at Mitron. The
scenario states that technicians receive very little incentives for attending trainings. THe scenario also
stated that technicians who obtain additional job related skills is beneficial to the company. These
technicians make it easier for the company as they are now have flexibility ... Show more content on

Recommendations to Holly would include a review of the current incentive program in place at
Mitron. The technicians have a right to obtain job skill knowledge without losing pay. An individual
incentive for production should be implemented in place of the team based bonus. Technicians should
receive rewards for exceeding the production goals of the firm. The incentive would encourage other
employees to increase job performance and gain rewards for work goals completed. Individual
incentives would not increase cost. The funds allotted for team bonuses could be moved to individual
incentive costs which balances out the

Organic Food And Farming Benefits For Health
Organic Food and Farming Benefits for Health
To the casual shopper it may appear that one of the biggest differences between organic and non
organic food can be found on the price tag, however, it is important to realize that the true cost of food
is not necessarily the price listed on the price tag. Looking more into the quality, how its made and
where the food comes from, is beneficial in our choice of the food we pick. Picking organic food have
become ever so popular. Organic food is grown or raised using little or no synthetic fertilizers,
pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Instead, organic farmers try to work with natural processes to
promote the health of their crops and livestock. For example, an organic farmer might apply compost
(decaying plant material) instead of chemical fertilizer to replenish the soil. Instead of using
pesticides, the farmer may rely on natural predators to control insect pests. (Funk Wagnalls New
World Encyclopedia)
Some people choose organic food because they prefer the taste. But there are many more factors that
influence the decision to choose organic food. One of the factors include that: Organic foods are
produced without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Genetically Modified
Organisms (GMOs). This entire topic of GMO s is a rather important topic in of itself, but going on
briefly about what it is, will help understand it better. GMO s are living organisms whose genetic

Design For The Contemporary Bedroom
Sleek lines, minimalist design, and futuristic accents are the signature elements of contemporary style.
From the flooring to the furnishings, here are seven design basics for the contemporary bedroom.
Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 1) Wall Color In a contemporary bedroom, the style is so
stark and simple that sometimes a bold wall color is needed to provide warmth and personality to the
space. The size of the bedroom should determine how much color to use. If the room is small, choose
a light neutral shade for three walls, and use the bolder darker color as an accent wall. If the room is
larger, painting two adjoining walls a bright color, opposite two walls of a lighter shade, gives a funky
contemporary feel to the room. Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 2) Flooring Hardwood and
tiled flooring are popular choices for contemporary rooms, but for the bedroom, you may want to opt
for a softer material. If you keep the hardwood or tiled flooring, a solid color throw rug is a versatile
piece that can add a pop of color and soft landing place for your feet. If you decide to go with a carpet,
keep the pile low. Knotted or berber carpet styles work best with the simple contemporary design.
Stay away from patterned carpeting and long material such as shag or plush loop which will make the
room look too busy. Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 3) The Bed For a contemporary
bedroom the bed design should be as simple as possible. Beds with simple headboards and low or

Lifestyle that Leads to Obesity
Have you been sitting around lately, watching TV? Eating when you re bored? If so, you need to know
that these are just a couple examples of the many things that can lead to obesity. America is the most
obese country is what you would think and or did think, but that is wrong. America was the most
obese country, but in 2013, Mexico surpassed the U.S. and it is now the most obese country, having
roughly 32.8 percent of adults being overweight and one third being obese. America is in second
place, having 31.8 percent being obese. Mexican teenagers also are one third obese and the majority of
overweight Mexican teenagers will stay obese and be at risk for diseses. The average Mexican drinks
163 liters (46 gallons) per year, of soda; this is 40 percent more than the average American who drinks
118 liters, or 31 gallons. Mexicans consume an average of 650 cans a year of Coca Cola, which adds
up to a little over 200 liters (52 gallons). There is a small island in the south pacific though, called
Nauru, that has an obesity rate of 71.7 percent which is actually the most obese country in the whole
world. Now you re probably wondering why I m telling you that Mexico is the most overweight
country since Nauru has a way higher obesity rate, and that is because Nauru is so small that we really
only consider the more populous countries. Nauru s population is only 9,400 people and the island is
8.108 square miles, so it does not take very many people who may already be more likely

Why I Should Be A Teacher
I want to be a teacher to continue to serve. I have served twenty years as officer in the United States
Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in service and
later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and employers as they
struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is better prepared work
force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically left out, and I want to
address that.
I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in my
class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I could
wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled one of those
kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school administrators, I was
tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to the behavior and soon
I was challenged.
However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current disadvantage
students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by the grace of a few
dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success in the classroom,
because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Because of the efforts of so many, I
have gone on to earn my

Nursing Dress Codes
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to offer a summary and synthesis of some of the more recent
research regarding implementing mandatory dress codes. The tradition of nursing attire has changed
over the years. The history of nursing uniforms includes wearing solid white skirts, shoes, and white
cap. These white garments typically signified nursing roles and differentiated nurses from other staff
members. Common questions that arise within medical institutions includes: what are the advantages
of implementing mandatory dress codes? Should nurses be required to wear traditional white
uniforms? Should personal individuality be preserved? How will patient care be impacted? Regardless
of the point of view, most positions tend to agree that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is this self expression beneficial to our patients and our nurses? Personal self expression has lead to
the assortment of styles seen in the nursing wardrobe; moreover, LaSala Nelson (2005) states that
dress can reflect the individual s personality, but should not be distracting or too casual for the work
setting. In association with personal expression within the workplace, Spragley Francis (2006) argue
that nurses often say they want to be recognized for their knowledge, competence, and experience, not
for what they are wearing. To consider the creative of nursing apparel, the department or work
environment would be the best indicator of suitability. Perhaps, colors and patterns can be considered
appropriate in certain departments of nursing, such as pediatrics. According to Matziou et al. (2009),
studies report that the nurses uniform influences the children s mood and that of their parents,
especially in pediatric hospitals; furthermore, the uniform of the nurses should be specially designed
to be functional and representative of their role. Multicolored nurses uniforms are those most preferred
by both the children and their parents. For instance, cartoon characters worn on scrub attire may be
considered distracting, and inappropriate in medical units such as oncology. Albert et al. (2009) adds
that patients and visitors may perceive nurses as

Through those linkages Nag and Gioia were able to draw tree knowledge pathways. The knowledge
adaption pathways describe the track how managerial distinctions emerge to knowledge adaption. The
knowledge augmentation pathways describe the way to the augmentation of knowledge and the third
track describes how it happens that uncommon knowledge is not used.
In the knowledge adaption pathways executives consider knowledge as most important for operational
efficiency. They believe it s hard to obtain from external sources and they have confidence in their
own knowledge but limited trust in workers knowledge. They are scan ning intensively for knowledge
and personally they had a greater share in knowledge work. Firms on that pathway are adapting
knowledge and come more likely to an incremental development.
In contrast described before in the knowledge augmentation pathways leaders have a strong
confidence on own knowledge, on workers capabilities and they believe their know ledge is distinctive
and hard to imitate for competitors. Therefore they are scanning pro actively and engaging others to
knowledge work. These companies use uncommon know ledge through augmentation. Radical
innovations are more likely in those companies.

Spirited Away Sociology
Spirited away is a Japanese animated movie based upon Japanese folklore regarding Kamikakushi
(Spirited Away). This particular legend is very ancient, dating back to prehistorical Jomon Japan
around 2,300 years ago; it was derived upon frequent disappearance of children in premodern Japan,
who often reappears several days after in a temple or shrine. It is believed that an infuriated god in the
mountain has abducted, hidden, and enslaved the children.
This folklore was adapted to create a modern fiction, Spirited Away. In this film, the primary
protagonist, Chihiro, ends up being Spirited Away from the real world to the spirit realm. The director
of this film, Miyazaki Hayao, brilliantly denounces many contemporary controversial topics: ... Show

Especially during work hours, the workplace is constantly surveyed by Yubaba s magic. There are also
spies amongst the laborers that report back to Yubaba daily of any misconduct committed by the
laborers.
A far more extreme form of labor control is presented in this film. Yubaba binds the employees under
contract that allows her to take their life away if she finds their work capability unsatisfactory. This is
shown when the boiler man yells at his underling that if they do not work, they will be turned into pile
of ashes. Yubaba is the symbol of bourgeoisie and workers are the symbol of proletariat; this is a
perfect signifier of class based system.
Throughout this film, the girl s struggle from alienation is depicted in detail. Chihiro had to adjust to
the spiritual world s common sense, discrimination, manners, labor market, and others, which
differentiated significantly from the one s she is used to in reality. The bathhouse mainly revolves
around interactive service work and physical labor; women mainly handles the aesthetic labor and
men handles the physical labor. Although Chihiro is a ten years old girl, she was forced to handle hard
physical labor with no assistance or guidance from other employees. The special division of labor was
manifested due to her being the only human in the workplace. Other workers, who were miscellaneous

A Story s Impact on Life in Tim Burton s Big Fish
A story is not only memorable because of its content, but also because of who told it, the way it was
told, and the significance of the tale. The stories we tell or hear are a vital part of life and this is
evidently shown in Tim Burton s film, Big Fish. The film shows the true importance of stories and the
impacts they have on everyone. It follows the story of Edward Bloom, as he re tells his past in
unbelievable stories, and the life of his son William, as he tries to deal with his father s questionable
past. The movie shows the usefulness of stories in several ways; they are a person s legacy, they allow
us to momentarily escape reality, and they connect and intertwine people s lives.
To start off, stories are our legacy; what we leave behind when we are gone. They stay with the people
we have influenced and keep us alive in their memories. Through the stories we leave behind, we can
remain immortal to those who know our tale. This rephrases what William had said near the end of the
film; A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in
that way he becomes immortal. The stories that we tell are also comforting to those we depart from as
it can help with the sadness to think about the life that person had once led. Knowing that they had a
good life, and being able to laugh at funny memories is a great way to deal with the emotional pain
after losing someone. In Big Fish, during the funeral of Edward Bloom, everyone was

Allie s baseball mitt, how he missed his funeral, and how he sometimes talks aloud to him. Holden
was so distraught that on the night he found out of Allie s passing, he smashed all the windows in his

Holden also talks about his younger ten year old sister, Phoebe, numerous times throughout the book.
He mentions that she is bright, pretty, mature beyond her years, and his most trusted link to family.
Holden even contemplates calling her first when he leaves school. This shows the bond between them
is close and strong. Phoebe is Holden s emotional anchor; for, with his sister there is no need for

Analysis Of Getting Ryan By Chris Landreth
The long history of the combination of animation and documentary is one that stretches back to the
earliest days of moving image. One conjures up thoughts of comedy, children s entertainment and
fantasies, while the other carries with it the assumption of seriousness, education and evidence, which
can nonetheless seem oxymoronic. However these new and relatively explored sub genres actually
depict a new field in the documentary genre known as animated documentary. Filmmaker John
Grierson defines documentary as the creative treatment of actuality, (Ehrlich 248) Meaning that
documentaries do not have to be presented as only live action film but rather a variety of creative
expressions to reproduce actuality. Though animation and documentary ... Show more content on

Animation shifts and broadens the limitations of what can be shown about reality by offering new and
alternative ways of seeing the world. It allows for the conventional subject matter of documentary to
be presented in a non conventional way. It also has the potential to convey conscious experiences,
such as memories and dreams visually, which is traditionally beyond what a live action documentary
can achieve. Animation has the potential to the viewers insight into the mental states of other people.
This is the kind of technique is what Chris Landreth did when creating the animated documentary

Many stores see an influx before the event where a lot of stock is sold, but sometimes this doesn t
happen and the store has to deal with a potential loss of electricity, damage to the infrastructure
supplying the building(s) occupied, and an unknown period of time where personnel aren t on site to
do daily upkeep tasks.
Due to the varied nature of natural disasters anything surrounding the recovery/recoupment process is
a complex problem. If power was lost for an extended period of time then staff will have to go through
and remove all frozen and refrigerated products from all areas of the store (grocery, service deli,
produce, bakery, meat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There would be initial cost tied to building the needed space and working to make sure that it s
accessible to all staff as appropriate. The size of what s needed would vary store to store so there
would need to be time spent researching volume trends for the locations.
There would be risks involved with adding space to existing stores because if the store is damaged
structurally then you would potentially lose the product stored on site. This is similar risk to the
existing stock in the store, so the only impact would be the additional product cost.
Recommendations
Given the Publix locations in what is considered one of the major Hurricane zones for the United
States, the recommendation would be every 6 months that an update is made to the disaster plan and
recovery plan. This would be sufficient to catch any new technologies that come in to play as well as
new workflows that are created to improve turnaround time for

Protecting Privacy and Securing the Nation in the 21st...
The idea of privacy protection for private citizens is rooted in history back to the Magna Carta. With
the passage of time and the evolution of communication the laws of the United States have attempted
to ensure a balance between security of the nation and protecting privacy. The current state of privacy
and the law is now in a state of flux as citizens have begun to rely more and more on technological
means of communication and have integrated privacy invading technology into their daily lives. It is
not uncommon today for the average citizen to have all their conversations and movements tracked
and stored into massive electronic databases simply because they carry a cell phone. The use of the
internet as a means of communication and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is for example how police can contact phone companies and quickly locate a person using the
global positioning unit embedded in many new cell phones if that person is known to be engaging in
illegal activity. The Fifth Amendment strengthens the protections given in the Fourth where it
declares, ...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private
property be taken for public use, without just compensation. However it has also been argued that The
Fourth and Fifth Amendments protect only against government infringements, and do nothing to
control the collection and use of information by private bureaucracies. (Solove 64). Here the main
problem is that in many cases, the data stored by these private entities can be held for an extensive
amount of time (Burstein 195). Couple this with the privatization of Government security work to
companies such as Blackwater USA, which would be immune from Constitutional oversight. To
combat this issue, The Electronic Communications Privacy Act of was created to add in protections
that the Bill of Rights fails to address, and combat the problems associated with electronic
information. This Act closed the loop to privacy intrusions by including government, individuals, and
private firms from eavesdropping on electronic communications (Burstein 186). This act has been
amended to keep up with technology, adding in protections for new technology as it is invented.
However, this

Motivation Of Confidential Sources
Cultivating confidential sources is an integral part of police work and today, more than ever in our
history, prevents us from going dark despite encrypted technologies. In February 2009, I successfully
completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation s Undercover Certification Course. In doing so, I
became only the second New Jersey State Trooper to ever complete the course. I learned a variety of
lessons, but was especially intrigued to hear those about confidential sources. I learned to treat sources
with respect. I also learned that a source having a criminal record, does not stop them from being
human. Most importantly, I learned that while performing in an undercover capacity with a source,
that the confidential source is your life line.

Zoom range Zoom affects how much of a scene will be captured in your photograph. A zoom range of

maximum resolution is the best option, but sometimes a small file size is more appropriate.

Rules of Photography
Depth of field depth of field, also called focus range is the distance between the nearest and farthest
objects in a scene. It decreases focus on anything other than the picture and makes the object it is
focused on appear closer and sharper than everything else in the background. Rules of odds The rule
of odds suggests that an odd number of subjects in an image is more interesting than an even number.
Therefore if you have more than one subject in your picture, the suggestion is to choose an
arrangement with at least three subjects to make it symmetrical and visually appeasing. Centred
composition Central composition is often calm and static. It places the one subject in the very centre
of the shot. By composing your subject in the centre, you are basically placing him in front of the
viewer as if attempting to introduce them. It also helps emphasize the space around your subject as it
becomes the very thing that leads the viewer s gaze towards where you, the creator, intended it to go.
Experimentation An experimental photography technique can be defined as anything that we use to
change a photography in a way that differs from just taking a photograph. It is a mean of depicting a

Analysis Of Over The Garden Wall
Over the Garden Wall is a children s cartoon series with a rather dark subject: a visit to the afterlife.
The show focuses on two brothers, Wirt and Greg. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt and Greg
navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet other unusual
characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in many ways. Over the
Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the characters, and the aspects that the
two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that the series is based loosely on Dante s
travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show, Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no
recollection of how they came to be there. This is very similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which
Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive,
akin to how Dante is accosted by the three beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the
show, we come to find out the place where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The
Unknown . The Unknown is separated into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms
have different areas, with various trials to be overcome in each section. In the last episode of the show,
it is apparent that The Unknown is a purgatory like afterlife, and that the brothers journey to find their
home has actually been them searching for a way back the land of the living.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dual Citizenship
Dual citizenship refers to an individual who is recognised as a national in two countries concurrently
(U.S. Department of State). It exists when one applies for citizenship in a country other than the one
they were born in. There has been much controversy shrouding the topic because some feel that
restricting dual citizenship violates human rights, while others see it as something that would
potentially dilute national identity. However, Singapore has taken a firm stand, and opposed such
laws. This essay will explore both the advantages and disadvantages of dual citizenship, but contend
that dual citizenship poses more as a threat than a benefit to Singapore s society. Due to the influx of

Therefore, it is to be ensured that Singaporeans are loyal to their home country. Having Singapore
citizens with dual citizenship means that those people have divided allegiance to two countries. This
leads to another question. Do the people with dual citizenship see themselves as Singaporeans or
Americans (for example)? What happens if Singapore faces a war? Who is to say that they will remain
steadfast and defend Singapore? They might just flee to their second home . Then does this not serve
as a disadvantage to citizens who were born and raised in Singapore? Albeit unlikely to happen, the
safety that we experience in Singapore must not be taken for granted. Singapore needs unwavering
citizens who will not abandon it when times get tough. It gives other countries the excuse to bully and
look down upon Singapore. Another issue that arises which is also related to Singapore s defense is
the requirement for males with dual citizenship to serve National Service (NS). Is it still mandatory for
them to serve NS even if they are living abroad? Thus, there are many complexities that need to be
ironed out, should dual citizenship be allowed in

The Role Of Terrorism In Stephen J. Dubner s Super...
Terrorism is a word have been echoing all around the media for a while, putting a little bit of fear, or

it as, Criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of

Historical Development of Law Enforcement Essays
Since 27 B.C. law enforcement has been used by humans as a means to defend property and keep
peace. Law enforcement has been changing ever since it was created. It will keep changing for the
greater good of the community as long is there is a continual need for law enforcement.
According to REAL POLICE. (N.D.) Para 5, the first organized police force was created by the great
nephew of Julius Caesar, Gaius Octavius in 27 B.C. These men were called Vigiles. The Vigiles were
armed with wooden clubs and small swords. They were formed to perform two duties, fight fires in
the city and arrest law breakers. The prefect of the Vigiles became a powerful man. He had the ability
to judge and sentence lawbreakers.

Research by Schmalleger (2005) shows that in 1829, the world s first modern police force was

men were called Bobbies. The new police were founded on two principles, one, belief that it was
possible to discourage crime, and two, practice of preventive patrol. To this day, Bobbies still patrol
the streets of England.
Law enforcement was almost non existent in the American West during the late 1800 s and early 1900
s. Outlaws ruled the land with few worries about law enforcement. Only the bravest men would
attempt to police the west. Some of these brave men were self appointed law men, men like Charles
Lynch, a former Virginia farmer, and Wyatt Earp. These brave men were called Vigilantes and they
tracked down criminals in the west. With out them the west would have been to violent for the
expansion of the country. Schmalleger (2005).

Methods Of Dividing The Networks Into Small Controllable...
3.1 Clustering approach: The approach of dividing the networks into small controllable units is called
as clustering. The clustering technique advances the scalability of network through ease of
implementation and results energy efficient routing within the sensor networks. The clustering
approach has some other advantages also like conserving communication bandwidth, avoiding
redundant message transfer, localizing energy efficient route setup etc. LEACH, HEED, DECA, etc.
are the energy efficient routing protocols based on clustering technique. 3.1.1 LEACH: LEACH stands
for Low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy [10]. It uses the clustering technique to distribute the
energy consumption beside its network. LEACH protocol divides the network in the form of cluster
heads and clusters to gather the data packet information. The cluster heads do get together with cluster
nodes to collect the data information. Each round of LEACH protocol performs following steps:
Advertisement phase: It is the first step. The cluster head issues a notification to the nodes to become a
cluster member in its cluster within its transmission range. The nodes recognize the information based
upon the Received Signal Strength [10]. Cluster set up phase: Nodes within cluster respond to their
cluster heads. Schedule creation: After receiving reaction from the cluster nodes the cluster head (CH)

Even though that didn t give him many opportunities to create buildings it still gave home work in the

shown that he was a willing and capable person to achieving anything and by doing so it had created
more jobs and had pushed him closer and closer into becoming a well know architect. Having seen the

Doctor Faustus Analysis
Humanism and Free Will in Christopher Marlowe s Doctor Faustus
Christopher Marlowe was a deeply complex and provocative writer. In his short life he became one of
the most prolific tragedists of the Elizabethan era and produced several famous works, including the at
time controversial The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus. Scholars have since attempted to unfurl the
meaning of this tragic play but not without difficulty. Some have claimed that Faustus is a humanist
work, but whether or not Marlowe intended it as a positive representation is up for debate: in his
Analysis of Desire and Humanism in Christopher Marlowe s Tragedies, Zhao Yonggang claims that
Christopher Marlowe wrote Doctor Faustus as a promotion of humanist philosophy; however, Caitlyn
Larracey argues in Renaissance Drama and Magic: Humanism and Hermeticism in Early Modern
England that despite Marlowe s humanist themes in his works, Faustus is instead a critique of
Christian humanism. Upon a closer examination of the Marlowe s own life, the Elizabethan era, and
the play itself, it is clear that Doctor Faustus serves as a cautionary tale: an example of humanist
philosophy and free will gone awry.
The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus is the story of one Doctor Faustus who, having become bored
of his life and his studies, takes up the dark arts and sells his soul to Satan. This new hobby spirals into
an obsession and an addiction that ultimately causes him to turn his back on God and damn himself
for eternity. He did this by no plan of God for, in the end, he is not forgiven by God, and instead
perishes but by his own free will. Marlowe wrote Doctor Faustus around 1606 in Elizabethan England.
The stage was already set for Marlowe: England at the time was filled with religious strife and
superstition as well as a hotbed for the theatrical arts (Greenblatt and Logan, 375). This emergence of
popular theatre in England was met with its fair share of criticism and skepticism. Not only was it seen
as a distraction from work and productivity it was also seen as blasphemous:
Moralists warned that the theaters were nests of sedition, and religious polemicists, especially
Puritans, obsessively focusing on the use of boy actors to play the

3. Decision
Sampson made several decisions, but there were some problems. At first, Sampson made decisions
only after two weeks on the job. The efficiency of decisions was questionable, based on her limited
experiences and understandings of manufacturing setting and CA s internal operation. Because the
differences across the world, the business groups in 17 countries have autonomy to satisfy the needs of
different customers. Currently Sampson required all advertising campaigns should be co ordinated
through New York, which was doubt. It is difficult to evaluate the advertising made by New York
experts will achieve customer satisfaction of different countries. However, the centralization is counter
to the general decentralized model of CA. CA used the decentralized model was sensible and had paid
off handsomely compared with inconsequential economies of scales while national market differences
were substantial.CausesThere was a lack of fit between process and task. In this case, the process is
the communication system. Because the different corporate cultures, the different communication
systems influenced Sampson cannot achieve her task. In Cabletronica, using e mail to communicate is
a usual way. In instance, the senior personnel changing as an important decision, was also announced
by the chief operating officer through e mail. However, it is not useful in CA.

The California SBAC test provided sources #1 4. Source #1 is about the discovery of Puebloan
buildings and artifacts. Source #2 is about how the Mesa Verde National Park was established to
protect the Puebloan artifacts and buildings. Source #3 is about the Inca Empire. Finally, Source #4 is
about the farming and the construction techniques of the Incas. The Incan people were a very
advanced society, but other civilizations may have influenced them, such as the Pueblos, who set the
example for building shelters, roads, and using farming techniques.
First, the Incas were both master builders and stonemasons, and they created and constructed many
useful and beautiful buildings, roadways, and walls. The Incas built the site of Machu Picchu in Peru,

Naïve B Lymphocytes
Naïve B lymphocytes express two classes of membrane bound antibodies, IgM and IgD that function
as the receptor for antigens. These naïve B cells are activated by antigens. The activation of B
lymphocytes results in the proliferation of antigen specific cells, also called clonal expansion and their
differentiation into effector cells that actively secrete antibodies. During their differentiation, some B
cells may begin to produce antibodies of different heavy chain classes (or isotypes). This process is
called heavy chain class (isotype) switching. Repeated exposure to a protein antigen results in the
production of antibodies with increasing affinity for the antigen. This process is called affinity
maturation and it lead to the production

Analysis Of The Poem The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong...
The Unescapable Net:
Tradition vs Transformation in Kingston s Ideology The Woman Warrior, written by Chinese
American author Maxine Hong Kingston in 1976, blends traditional Chinese folktales and memoir,
and portrays the early 20th century Chinese history in a Chinese American perspective. For Maxine, it
seems Chinese history means social and cultural constrains from conventional Chinese doctrines,
especially regarding the social status of womanhood, the blind collectivism, and superstition in old
China. Maxine s negative depiction of Chinese history partially reflects the bureaucracy of patriarchal
and feudal system in old China, but more importantly, reveals Maxine herself, a third culture kid, as a
paradox: she is eager to incorporate into the American mainstream society by resisting her Chinese
cultural background, but at the same time, her unconscious actions imply that her Chinese background
is a historical baggage that she could never discard of. By retelling experiences and legends from her
mother and even her grandmother s generation, Maxine suggests how she as a Chinese American
woman is in a awkward state between tradition and transformation, and presents a cultural clash
between America and China. Maxine s portray of women s role under the male dominated society and
feudal system suggests the first paradox in her ideology protesting male dominance, but at the same
time admitting it. Women, in ancient China, are usually treated as lower social status and

Six Sigma Notes
Process Improvement
Process improvement is a fundamental to business management. If you run an operation (and all
businesses do, one way or another) you are reliant on two things: * The people you employ, their skills
and capabilities * The processes that you use, the way you do things
So the only ways an operation can perform better are to improve its processes or its people.
Changing processes (the way you do things) is something we all do everyday.
So what is all the Fuss About?
There is a lot of mystique associated with process improvement, lots of jargon and multiple
methodologies but process improvement is very easy. There are only three simple questions that you
need to get your mind around:
1. What is your purpose? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his report he discovered that the products with fewer non conformities (high quality) were the ones
that performed well after delivery to the customer. It was accepted by everyone but the challenge that
came in front of Motorola executives was to develop a solution to tackle this problem.
Mikel Harry having a doctorate from Arizona University worked with Bill Smith in developing a four
phase problem solving approach Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. A few years later Bob
Galvin launched a long term quality program called The Six Sigma Quality Program in Motorola.
Looking at the success of Motorola, many companies like Texas Instruments, Allied Signal etc started
using Six Sigma methodology to bring organization wide improvements.
In 1990 s Jack Welch launched Six Sigma in GE in a big way. He implemented Six Sigma in all areas
and ensured that the entire organization participates in the initiative. He changed the performance
incentives and made them based on individual s ability and enthusiasm to take part in Six Sigma
initiatives. He transformed GE to a state where Six Sigma had become the culture of the organization
and not just a methodology for brining organization wide improvements.
What is Six Sigma ? Definition of Six SigmaSix Sigma is not a mere methodology or a quality tool. It
is a philosophy i.e. a systematic way of thinking to solve quality problems. Six sigma involves

  • 2. Burt’s Bees Case Analysis Burt s Bees Case Analysis Contents Evaluation of Opportunities in the case To evaluate the opportunities for Burt s Bees in the case we would need to do an internal analysis of Burt s Bees i.e. look into its strengths, weaknesses, threat and opportunity vis à vis the competition and the market scenario in 1997. Burt s Bees success was hard won through 18~ to 24 months of pruning after the company s move from Guilford, Maine in 1994. Production was extremely labor intensive in Maine due to the large supply of low paid unskilled labor, Burt s Bees had to automate production in North Carolina, though, to minimize the cost of its highly paid skilled labor. Thus it is important to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other players are investing huge amounts on expanding their distribution network and hence expanding their customer base. Another internal threat is that Burt s Bees does not have the capability to expand their manufacturing units and forward integrate them to their own retail outlets. This is not only a huge risk but also a huge investment which if fails can take the company with it to the dust. TWOS Analysis Now, to analyze these facts and points in a better manner we should do a TOWS analysis. In this analysis we try to see the Strength and weaknesses vis à vis the threats and opportunities in the following manner: Strength Weakness Opportunity Match strengths to specific opportunities You need to invest to overcome weakness or to compensate or negate Weakness Threat These are strengths that can be used to reduce or avoid the consequences of a threat There may be little that you can do to avoid the impact. Create or import Strengths This analysis can be done for Burt s Bees: Strength Weakness Opportunity

  • 4. Analysis Of Mlk Letter To Martin Luther King Today in the United States, we are told that we are one of the best when it comes to having freedom; of course that was not always the case. As a nation, we have come a long way; but unfortunately we still are not all equal. As for 53 years ago, Marin Luther King Jr. was the man trying his best to pave the way for having equal freedoms for everyone, especially blacks. With the letter that MLK wrote, it ended up being more than a letter, but a piece of literature that was eventually published in his book. He is excellent when it comes to his words, he was able to speak his mind and portray his words emotionally. His thoughts were well thought out and written passionately, especially since they were written in a jail cell. This letter started a pivotal movement in the civil rights era, and is something people will always be talking about for years to come. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is what started his ideas for making a movement. He was tired of waiting for the government to do something about the unjust freedom that blacks have been getting. With this letter to the clergy men, he hopes to insert emotion into the people to do what is right and to grant people with their God given rights. I have never experienced oppression or seen a severe incident in person but I cannot image what King and his family had to go through before and after him being arrested. I also could not image what our world would took like today if this letter had never been written. If not, our whole country could be oppressed and would still be running directly by the rich white communities. Obama might not have ever become president because he would have still been in the minority where blacks could not be a part of the government, let alone be able to ... Emphasis will be on network and operating system for the VPN services. It will look at the types of connections a small business might expect to encounter when using VPN s. The security concerns of choices in the set up of the connections for both parties including: type of encryption available and Firewall issues. Last of all what are the overall security concerns when using a VPN including problems with a discussion of fixes and security patches. Security Concerns and the Use of VPN for Small Businesses Small businesses often operate on a tight budget; recently VPN s have become a very cost effective way for them to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before installing the VPN services, however, a number of things must be taken into consideration. By evaluating who is using the VPN, the hardware necessary to make good connections, the pros and cons of differing connection protocols, and evaluating past security problems, setting up the VPN services becomes a much smoother process. VPN s and Firewalls Anyone who will be accessing the VPN services should have a firewall in place.Once a VPN connection is established, the client is essentially able to access information behind the company s firewall, thus creating an access hole. Therefore, insisting a client use and maintain a firewall is another layer in the security of the VPN setup. The ease of changing the firewall rules to allow VPN connections should be addressed. Very old firewalls, either appliance types or software types, may be difficult or impossible to configure to allow VPN access.A small business may stay with an old firewall for many reasons, one of which might be the fact that there has been no reason to upgrade in the past. It would be prudent to check the firewall documentation before becoming enmeshed in the VPN process, only to have it fail for lack of access, or creating a setup that might be considered insecure. User Considerations When setting up the VPN server(s) at the main office, who is using the connection and how much access to the internal network, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Insurance can be provided through both private and public insurance marketplaces. Private insurance companies include plans such as Managed Care Organizations (MCO s) that are mainly used by employers that want to insure full time employees. There are two types of MCO s called Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO s) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO s) (Ridic, 2012). • 7. Mitron Employee Performance Summary There are some organizations that uses the team based pay approach to improve performance at the organization (Balkin Montemayor, 2000). Team based bonuses may work for some business. Consequently, I am not convinced that this approach is beneficial to Mitron. The scenario states that technicians with multiple skills often have to fill in for those that are absent or lack the skill needed in a team, that is needed to complete the production. That individual requires the flexibility to be rotated to any given team, at any time. The technician at Mitron would only benefit from having the knowledge or compensated for acquiring a skill related to the job. Furthermore, no additional compensation would be granted for assisting in the task completion. The technician would receive compensation as a team as do any other member of that team, that did not perform at the same rate. Recommendations would be made to Holly for elimination of the team based bonuses at Mitron. The scenario states that technicians receive very little incentives for attending trainings. • 8. Organic Food And Farming Benefits For Health Organic Food and Farming Benefits for Health To the casual shopper it may appear that one of the biggest differences between organic and non organic food can be found on the price tag, however, it is important to realize that the true cost of food is not necessarily the price listed on the price tag. Looking more into the quality, how its made and where the food comes from, is beneficial in our choice of the food we pick. Picking organic food have become ever so popular. Organic food is grown or raised using little or no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Instead, organic farmers try to work with natural processes to promote the health of their crops and livestock. For example, an organic farmer might apply compost (decaying plant material) instead of chemical fertilizer to replenish the soil. Instead of using pesticides, the farmer may rely on natural predators to control insect pests. (Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia) Some people choose organic food because they prefer the taste. But there are many more factors that influence the decision to choose organic food. One of the factors include that: Organic foods are produced without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). • 9. Design For The Contemporary Bedroom Sleek lines, minimalist design, and futuristic accents are the signature elements of contemporary style. From the flooring to the furnishings, here are seven design basics for the contemporary bedroom. Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 1) Wall Color In a contemporary bedroom, the style is so stark and simple that sometimes a bold wall color is needed to provide warmth and personality to the space. The size of the bedroom should determine how much color to use. If the room is small, choose a light neutral shade for three walls, and use the bolder darker color as an accent wall. If the room is larger, painting two adjoining walls a bright color, opposite two walls of a lighter shade, gives a funky contemporary feel to the room. Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 2) Flooring Hardwood and tiled flooring are popular choices for contemporary rooms, but for the bedroom, you may want to opt for a softer material. If you keep the hardwood or tiled flooring, a solid color throw rug is a versatile piece that can add a pop of color and soft landing place for your feet. If you decide to go with a carpet, keep the pile low. Knotted or berber carpet styles work best with the simple contemporary design. Stay away from patterned carpeting and long material such as shag or plush loop which will make the room look too busy. Contemporary Bedroom Design Element 3) The Bed For a contemporary bedroom the bed design should be as simple as possible. Beds with simple headboards and low or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Lifestyle that Leads to Obesity Have you been sitting around lately, watching TV? Eating when you re bored? If so, you need to know that these are just a couple examples of the many things that can lead to obesity. America is the most obese country is what you would think and or did think, but that is wrong. America was the most obese country, but in 2013, Mexico surpassed the U.S. and it is now the most obese country, having roughly 32.8 percent of adults being overweight and one third being obese. America is in second place, having 31.8 percent being obese. Mexican teenagers also are one third obese and the majority of overweight Mexican teenagers will stay obese and be at risk for diseses. The average Mexican drinks 163 liters (46 gallons) per year, of soda; this is 40 percent more than the average American who drinks 118 liters, or 31 gallons. Mexicans consume an average of 650 cans a year of Coca Cola, which adds up to a little over 200 liters (52 gallons). There is a small island in the south pacific though, called Nauru, that has an obesity rate of 71.7 percent which is actually the most obese country in the whole world. Now you re probably wondering why I m telling you that Mexico is the most overweight country since Nauru has a way higher obesity rate, and that is because Nauru is so small that we really only consider the more populous countries. Nauru s population is only 9,400 people and the island is 8.108 square miles, so it does not take very many people who may already be more likely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have served twenty years as officer in the United States Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in service and later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and employers as they struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is better prepared work force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically left out, and I want to address that. I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in my class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I could wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled one of those kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school administrators, I was tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to the behavior and soon I was challenged. However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current disadvantage students face and there was a time where my future was in question. The tradition of nursing attire has changed over the years. The history of nursing uniforms includes wearing solid white skirts, shoes, and white cap. These white garments typically signified nursing roles and differentiated nurses from other staff members. Common questions that arise within medical institutions includes: what are the advantages of implementing mandatory dress codes? Should nurses be required to wear traditional white uniforms? Should personal individuality be preserved? How will patient care be impacted? Regardless of the point of view, most positions tend to agree that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is this self expression beneficial to our patients and our nurses? Personal self expression has lead to the assortment of styles seen in the nursing wardrobe; moreover, LaSala Nelson (2005) states that dress can reflect the individual s personality, but should not be distracting or too casual for the work setting. In association with personal expression within the workplace, Spragley Francis (2006) argue that nurses often say they want to be recognized for their knowledge, competence, and experience, not for what they are wearing. To consider the creative of nursing apparel, the department or work environment would be the best indicator of suitability. Perhaps, colors and patterns can be considered appropriate in certain departments of nursing, such as pediatrics. According to Matziou et al. (2009), studies report that the nurses uniform influences the children s mood and that of their parents, especially in pediatric hospitals; furthermore, the uniform of the nurses should be specially designed to be functional and representative of their role. Multicolored nurses uniforms are those most preferred by both the children and their parents. For instance, cartoon characters worn on scrub attire may be considered distracting, and inappropriate in medical units such as oncology. Albert et al. This particular legend is very ancient, dating back to prehistorical Jomon Japan around 2,300 years ago; it was derived upon frequent disappearance of children in premodern Japan, who often reappears several days after in a temple or shrine. It is believed that an infuriated god in the mountain has abducted, hidden, and enslaved the children. This folklore was adapted to create a modern fiction, Spirited Away. There are also spies amongst the laborers that report back to Yubaba daily of any misconduct committed by the laborers. A far more extreme form of labor control is presented in this film. Yubaba binds the employees under contract that allows her to take their life away if she finds their work capability unsatisfactory. This is shown when the boiler man yells at his underling that if they do not work, they will be turned into pile of ashes. Yubaba is the symbol of bourgeoisie and workers are the symbol of proletariat; this is a perfect signifier of class based system. • 16. A Story s Impact on Life in Tim Burton s Big Fish A story is not only memorable because of its content, but also because of who told it, the way it was told, and the significance of the tale. The stories we tell or hear are a vital part of life and this is evidently shown in Tim Burton s film, Big Fish. The film shows the true importance of stories and the impacts they have on everyone. It follows the story of Edward Bloom, as he re tells his past in unbelievable stories, and the life of his son William, as he tries to deal with his father s questionable past. The movie shows the usefulness of stories in several ways; they are a person s legacy, they allow us to momentarily escape reality, and they connect and intertwine people s lives. To start off, stories are our legacy; what we leave behind when we are gone. They stay with the people we have influenced and keep us alive in their memories. Through the stories we leave behind, we can remain immortal to those who know our tale. This rephrases what William had said near the end of the film; A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal. The stories that we tell are also comforting to those we depart from as it can help with the sadness to think about the life that person had once led. Knowing that they had a good life, and being able to laugh at funny memories is a great way to deal with the emotional pain after losing someone. However these new and relatively explored sub genres actually depict a new field in the documentary genre known as animated documentary. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt and Greg navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet other unusual characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in many ways. Over the Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the characters, and the aspects that the two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that the series is based loosely on Dante s travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show, Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no recollection of how they came to be there. This is very similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive, akin to how Dante is accosted by the three beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the show, we come to find out the place where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The Unknown . The Unknown is separated into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms have different areas, with various trials to be overcome in each section. • 39. Methods Of Dividing The Networks Into Small Controllable... 3.1 Clustering approach: The approach of dividing the networks into small controllable units is called as clustering. The clustering technique advances the scalability of network through ease of implementation and results energy efficient routing within the sensor networks. The clustering approach has some other advantages also like conserving communication bandwidth, avoiding redundant message transfer, localizing energy efficient route setup etc. LEACH, HEED, DECA, etc. are the energy efficient routing protocols based on clustering technique. 3.1.1 LEACH: LEACH stands for Low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy [10]. It uses the clustering technique to distribute the energy consumption beside its network. LEACH protocol divides the network in the form of cluster heads and clusters to gather the data packet information. The cluster heads do get together with cluster nodes to collect the data information. Each round of LEACH protocol performs following steps: Advertisement phase: It is the first step. The cluster head issues a notification to the nodes to become a cluster member in its cluster within its transmission range. The nodes recognize the information based upon the Received Signal Strength [10]. Cluster set up phase: Nodes within cluster respond to their cluster heads. Schedule creation: After receiving reaction from the cluster nodes the cluster head (CH) construct TDMA scheme and send it back to cluster node member to intimate them when they have to pass ... • 40. Essay on Albert Speer Albert Speer 1. Born in March 19th 1905, and the middle child of three sons, you could say Albert Speer had a life of a movie star. Having a father who was a successful architect in Mannheim, and a mother who came from a wealthy family you would say that the Speer family was more than well off. The Speer family had their own cook, kitchen maid, chamber maid, butler, chauffer, nanny and governess; Albert Speer was the upper class instead of the upper middle which he classified himself into. But too all good things there are bad. Not liking his brothers, he would get picked on by them. Albert s relationship with his parents was poor and had conjured in his mind that they didn t have anytime for him at all or even loved him, but that his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Speer s decision on joining the Nazi party had an improvement of impact to his work as an architect. Even though that didn t give him many opportunities to create buildings it still gave home work in the field that he loved doing. Having been given the chance to redecorate headquarters, Speer still had shown that he was a willing and capable person to achieving anything and by doing so it had created more jobs and had pushed him closer and closer into becoming a well know architect. Having seen the plans for the Nuremburg rallies Speer, being a person to welcome on challenges had stated that he could do better with the designs for the rally. Speer had wanted to create a setting designed to impress the audience that would make them walk into the stadium at night that then they were confronted with a raised platform to which was draped with two huge black, white and red banners, each taller than a 10 story building with a third swastika banner between them. Illuminated by 130 searchlights this headed towards the heaven this cathedral of lights had been the main design and basis for the rally. Splendid in design and marvelous in sight, this was one of Speer s memorable works, which had given him his statue as a magnificent architect. 4. • 42. Doctor Faustus Analysis Humanism and Free Will in Christopher Marlowe s Doctor Faustus Christopher Marlowe was a deeply complex and provocative writer. In his short life he became one of the most prolific tragedists of the Elizabethan era and produced several famous works, including the at time controversial The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus. Scholars have since attempted to unfurl the meaning of this tragic play but not without difficulty. Some have claimed that Faustus is a humanist work, but whether or not Marlowe intended it as a positive representation is up for debate: in his Analysis of Desire and Humanism in Christopher Marlowe s Tragedies, Zhao Yonggang claims that Christopher Marlowe wrote Doctor Faustus as a promotion of humanist philosophy; however, Caitlyn Larracey argues in Renaissance Drama and Magic: Humanism and Hermeticism in Early Modern England that despite Marlowe s humanist themes in his works, Faustus is instead a critique of Christian humanism. Upon a closer examination of the Marlowe s own life, the Elizabethan era, and the play itself, it is clear that Doctor Faustus serves as a cautionary tale: an example of humanist philosophy and free will gone awry. The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus is the story of one Doctor Faustus who, having become bored of his life and his studies, takes up the dark arts and sells his soul to Satan. This new hobby spirals into an obsession and an addiction that ultimately causes him to turn his back on God and damn himself for eternity. He did this by no plan of God for, in the end, he is not forgiven by God, and instead perishes but by his own free will. Marlowe wrote Doctor Faustus around 1606 in Elizabethan England. The stage was already set for Marlowe: England at the time was filled with religious strife and superstition as well as a hotbed for the theatrical arts (Greenblatt and Logan, 375). This emergence of popular theatre in England was met with its fair share of criticism and skepticism. Not only was it seen as a distraction from work and productivity it was also seen as blasphemous: Moralists warned that the theaters were nests of sedition, and religious polemicists, especially Puritans, obsessively focusing on the use of boy actors to play the ... These naïve B cells are activated by antigens. The activation of B lymphocytes results in the proliferation of antigen specific cells, also called clonal expansion and their differentiation into effector cells that actively secrete antibodies. During their differentiation, some B cells may begin to produce antibodies of different heavy chain classes (or isotypes). This process is called heavy chain class (isotype) switching. Repeated exposure to a protein antigen results in the production of antibodies with increasing affinity for the antigen. This process is called affinity maturation and it lead to the production ... • 48. Analysis Of The Poem The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong... The Unescapable Net: Tradition vs Transformation in Kingston s Ideology The Woman Warrior, written by Chinese American author Maxine Hong Kingston in 1976, blends traditional Chinese folktales and memoir, and portrays the early 20th century Chinese history in a Chinese American perspective. For Maxine, it seems Chinese history means social and cultural constrains from conventional Chinese doctrines, especially regarding the social status of womanhood, the blind collectivism, and superstition in old China. Maxine s negative depiction of Chinese history partially reflects the bureaucracy of patriarchal and feudal system in old China, but more importantly, reveals Maxine herself, a third culture kid, as a paradox: she is eager to incorporate into the American mainstream society by resisting her Chinese cultural background, but at the same time, her unconscious actions imply that her Chinese background is a historical baggage that she could never discard of. By retelling experiences and legends from her mother and even her grandmother s generation, Maxine suggests how she as a Chinese American woman is in a awkward state between tradition and transformation, and presents a cultural clash between America and China. Maxine s portray of women s role under the male dominated society and feudal system suggests the first paradox in her ideology protesting male dominance, but at the same time admitting it. Women, in ancient China, are usually treated as lower social status and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
