Are you on Instagram? I get asked frequently by clients in #financialservices whether they need to be on this platform.
According to recent Sprout Social, Inc. statistics, an estimated 71% of US businesses use Instagram. Additionally, small businesses currently make up the majority of Instagram advertisers and business profiles.
When it comes to Instagram in the financial sector, it becomes a handy tool for firms to really show (not tell) how relatable they are and gives them much more flexibility in their storytelling.
I've put together a short slide deck to give you some tips as to how to start a presence there.
Instagram is somewhat of uncharted territory for financial advisors but it is an engaging #socialmedia platform and, when used correctly, it can really grow the brand of your financial company and help others to connect and engage with your firm on a positive level.

Established in 2009, Socialab is a digital-first ad agency, based in Athens.
With a dynamic team of 50 talented people, it provides services to national and international clients.
Our clientele over the years includes brands like Lego Group, Unilever, PepsiCo, Sarantis, Samsung, Wella, Beiersdorf, BMW Group, Fox Life, FrieslandCampina, Holmes Place and others. We’ve also worked with international organizations like the UNHCR, OECD, the World Economic Forum and the European Parliament.
Socialab has won numerous awards in Greece and it’s the only agency to win two European Business Awards. It has also had its work featured on Ads of the World and Best Ads on TV, after a vetting process from international judges.
In Greece, Socialab was the first agency to ever teach digital marketing in an organized manner. For that purpose, it has an exclusive partnership with ALBA, the American College of Greece and the Digital Marketing Institute in Ireland. Together, we have trained more than 1,200 executives in 5 years.
As of August 2018, Socialab has completed more than 400 projects encompassing the whole field of communications: above, below, PR, but most are digital-related. Most of these services are usually provided in-house, from idea to production.

Selfies are dead. Long live the user generated content!Socialab
User Generated Content is King.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

3.0 Project 2_ Developing My Brand Identity Kit.pptxtanyjahb
A personal brand exploration presentation summarizes an individual's unique qualities and goals, covering strengths, values, passions, and target audience. It helps individuals understand what makes them stand out, their desired image, and how they aim to achieve it.
Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

3. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
Tasos Veliadis
I am working in social media
marketing for big brands for 6 years
in Europe.
With my team, we’ve created more
than 500 campaigns for more than
40 Global and local Brands.
I am now the Business Unit Director
at socialab, a prominent Digital
Agency in Greece, and in my free
time I like writing about social
media strategy and digital strategy.
3
6. CREATIVE TACTICS
1. Bond with your fans
2. Discover their motivations
3. Fast reaction
4. Become on of them
5. Make your fans have fun
6. Create nostalgia
7. Create helpful activations
8. Create quality content
6
8. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
BOND WITH YOUR FANS
When you create content, don’t think
like brand but more like a user and
what you would you like to see from
your brand.
That’s how you show that you really
care about your fans. And you can do
that by giving useful tips for your
fans’ everyday problems,
representing at the same time your
brand’s values.
8
10. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
DISCOVER THEIR MOTIVATION
Most fans create a facebook account
in order to express themselves, their
ideas and to communicate with
others.
So, what you have to do, is to create
content that expresses them, that
suits their passions and helps them
identify themselves in your brand.
That’s how you share your content
through your fans. Share something
that you would also share as an
individual.
10
12. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
FAST REACTION
Don’t schedule all your posts, based
on a schedule. You can always have
a content calendar for your product
posts or event posts, but it’s best for
users to know and communicate
what’s happening right now,
creating buzz.
A good example is Oreo’s instant
post “You can still dunk in the
dark”, referring to Superbowl’s
unexpected blackout.
You can even use your mobile phone
to create content, this helps you
catch the moment.
12
14. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
BECOME ONE OF THEM
Be one of your fans. Think of what
you would like to see from a brand
and why you would like a facebook
page.
Think that the best content is the
user-generated content, so make
sure to start an inspiring
conversation for your fans, so to
create content for your brand.
14
16. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
MAKE YOUR FANS HAVE FUN
I’m sure that no one on Facebook
expects from a brand to share its
concerns, but to share creative,
useful and funny content.
I choose 9gag as an example. Of
course you can’t fit this kind of
content on a brand with a more
formal character, but you can spice
up your content a little bit.
16
18. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
CREATE NOSTALGIA
One of today’s trends is sharing
experiences of the past. So, create
content, or even applications which
help them share these kinds of
experiences. For example, an
application where they can share
their trips, with photos or timeline
highlights.
18
20. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
CREATE HELPFUL ACTIVATIONS
Create content and actions for things
that really matter and help people
with their everyday problems, by
making their life easier.
Think of actions like Pepsi’s Refresh
Project and you’ll see that the fans,
by themselves, start a conversation
and share your content just to help
and support a purpose, that really
deserves to.
20
22. Social media + creative content =
BRAND LOVE
CREATE QUALITY CONTENT
When users look for information on
Google, they know that no-one is
looking at them and that no-one will
ever find out what they searched for.
But when someone shares something
on Facebook, they know that their
friends will see the post.
So, create quality content if you want
your fans to share it proudly and not
click the Cancel button on the share
dialog pop-up.
