"A brave, new business world."
It’s difficult to imagine any landscape that’s changed more than business-to-business. The last 5 years has seen almost all the rules re-written, re-worked or simply revoked. Social platforms. Mobile connectivity. Niche business media. Content as a sales source. Targeting business people as people. They're just the tip of a moving landscape. In the pages of 'Engaging a business audience of One,' the OgilvyOne thought-leaders examine each of these game-changers.
Social media is noisy, and some users are moving away to create niche communities where they can communicate with like-minded individuals about shared interests. These communities give users a sense of belonging, especially in a time of immense upheaval where human connection is lacking. This is a larger sign of the importance not just of short-form entertainment like TikToks but also of subcultures and communities. This session will highlight how (your) small communities are winning big.

Social media has shifted in considerable ways in the past few years. Looking back, it is obvious to see the power it holds for growth moving forward. As our opportunities for physical connection were minimized or taken away, many turned to social media almost immediately, and data shows that usage is not slowing down. It's increasing. What’s next for social and digital media as we tackle 2021 one marketing trend at a time?

This year at VidCon, there was a lot more discussion about brand/Creator partnerships. Some seminars aimed to educate up-and-coming Creators on how to start working with brands, while others aimed to inform brand audiences about expectations for working with Creators. Topics ranged from “How to get a brand deal” and “How to determine a Creators’ value” to “How brands and Creators can work together,” among others.
Most of the discussions seemed to net out with consistent themes – the basis of which I likened to dating. Here’s how.
Creating Clear Content Marketing Messaging Since, 2011
Thriving in the marketplace is all about clarified messaging that connects with customers through storytelling. Noise is the ultimate enemy, and I have ten years of experience removing the noise companies unknowingly create. What we think we are saying to customers and what customers hear are two different things. Customers don’t make purchasing decisions on what we say but in what they hear. I clarify messaging!
In the following slides, you'll see how.
Digital, as a term used loosely, is a nebulous concept that seems to encompass a lot more than a marketer or a technologist can fathom. Who owns this initiative in an enterprise? – Technologists? Interaction/UX designers? Influencers? Marketing Department?
The ‘digital brand’ concept is in dire need of a framework that will help the marketer, technologists and creative folks talk on a common platform. This master class would attempt at establishing this common framework that contains channels and types of assets that can define a connected idea of a campaign, a gateway, and foundational assets.
This framework will be illustrated with case videos that demonstrate the mechanics of the model. Further, this class will explore web content marketing and social media marketing at a deeper level. This will also help technologists understand the mechanics of marketing strategies and understand the need for tools that can enable an informed digital initiative in all enterprises.
Marketing 101 is an overview of what is marketing's role within an organisation, how to build a solid marketing staretgy based on analysis, strong messaging and picking the right tools.
It is a starting point if you are unsure about how to tackle the marketing needs of your business or are just starting out in a marketing role. Actionable advice, clear explanation and a few exercises to get the ball rolling.

Color is a crucial part of brand communication. Colors bring emotions to brands, making their stories interesting and worth the watch. The incredible power of colors is evident everywhere - It is McDonald's obvious Yellow 'M' that makes the outlets stand out from miles away. Ever noticed how Macy's Red invites you every time you pass by a store? And how can we skip Purple that has been associated with Cadbury over a century. Colors make a brand iconic. They connect them with their audience through perception and psychology.
Lets learn the mechanics of our mind and how it perceives different colors based on our psychological biases. And how brands can play color theory right to get the best on board.

The typical objective of digital marketing is to reach the public and engage with them through various e-channels. Digital marketing has impressively broken the chains over the years due to the far-flung use of digital devices and the internet. The campaigns of digital marketing can be custom-made based on audiences’ demographics, interests, and behavior.
The extensive use of digital marketing has resulted in a shift in how organizations approach marketing, emphasising data-driven tactics and personalized client experience.
The 2000s and 2010s saw a sudden growth in digital marketing due to the proliferation of devices capable of accessing digital media. Stats from 2012 and 2013 showed, digital marketing was still growing, indicating its charm in the marketing industry.
The development of social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter in the 2000s led to a significant change in customer behavior. As a result, customers expected a seamless user experience across different channels for searching product information, which led to the diversification of marketing technology.

Selfies are dead. Long live the user generated content!Socialab
User Generated Content is King.
Redefining performance marketing through creativitySocialab
The challenge for brands is what to communicate and how to scale engagement that converts to sales. The answer lies within performance marketing and creativity.

The roles
Many more roles exist, for example depending on client, industry, technology,
specialization or skills.
Each role does not always mean that one person is assigned just one.
For example, an account manager can be:
• A manager of account executives
• A copywriter for daily text-based content
• A curator of image-based content
• A community manager for social media channels
• Handling some PR for the client’s brand with bloggers / influencers
• Overseeing Ad campaigns for the client
• Responsible for the commercial viability of her client
29. socialab
Possible Background / Skills
With so many roles, your background can be anything of the following to
be involved in digital:
• Marketing / Communications / PR for account or other roles
• Design for most Art roles
• Computer Science for Developer roles
• Mathematics for next-gen media buying
• Literature / Journalism for copywriting
Or maybe:
• Entrepreneurship
• “Digital Savviness”

The job market
Because of the competition between people wanting to be in this market,
but also because of the competition between agencies wanting to take on
clients, here are some of the things that are difficult (not always and not for
long):
1. Breaking into this market
2. Staying in the market (and wanting to stay)
3. Getting a promotion
4. Getting paid well
35. socialab
Bright Future
Not all is bleak, though.
Most people who work in digital marketing do it because they find it
more interesting than any other job.
And, if anything, a job in digital marketing has a future, because if you are
good today, you will have a better job tomorrow in an industry that is
now only a baby.
Being good means covering the gap better than most people in the
industry. This is where job opportunities lie.
37. socialab
How do you break into this market?
There are probably a lot of ways to
break into this or any other market.
But like any market where demand
is great my advice to you is to start
ASAP offering the most.

Internships
Internships are common in a lot of professions: lawyers, doctors, nurses,
dentists, journalists, designers, engineers, architects, and of course
advertising.
Bearing in mind:
• the overwhelming supply of people wanting to get into digital marketing
(both young and older advertisers)
• the digital skills gap, whereby everyone wants to hire someone who has
done the job well in the past
We definitely think that an internship is the right way to go to fire up
your career. (That’s how most of us did it anyway)
39. socialab
Concerns?
If you have any concerns about this, maybe an internship is
not for you.
It’s probably the only path that I truly know because that’s
the only one I could take myself myself, not being connected
to this market when I started.
But in a day and age of financial crisis, it is a buyer’s market
and a lot of the work out there is not financially viable
without interns taking off some of the load in exchange of
experience that they will redeem by getting absorbed in the
market quicker than without this work experience.
41. socialab
What can an intern expect?
Average figures per month for Account people:
Intern:
1,000 incoming emails / 100 outgoing emails
Manager:
3,000 incoming emails / 500 outgoing emails
Senior Management:
5000 incoming emails / 1,000 outgoing emails
42. socialab
What can an intern expect?
An intern working with an Account Manager can expect to:
• Become better at finding information
• Produce a lot of content (either for social media or Google/websites) in
order to understand what quality and quantity suits a big client like a
MNO or successful local player.
• Organize and participate in a couple of events in order to see the knit-
and-grit of a 360-degree marketing campaign.
• Understand how an application works
• Be able to decipher results of a marketing campaign and how reporting
works.
and do it all in a manner which will make him understand that you need to
be committed for the results you need get.
43. socialab
What can an intern expect?
Most importantly, an intern should
not only expect but anticipate to
do things that they’ve never done
before.
