Sophie Freeman reflects on editing her podcast about Auschwitz. She began by adding an introduction. Next, she included the dates Auschwitz opened and closed to provide context. She then added more details and a survivor's story told in parts by different speakers to keep listeners engaged without long gaps. Finally, she closed the podcast and added background music, fading elements in and out to make the editing seem professional.
2. Process
• The first thing I did
to edit my podcast
was I added my
first part which is
the introduction.
3. Process
• Next I added the
next part of my
podcast. Which was
the date of when
Auschwitz started
and ended. So that
my audience knows
the key dates of
Auschwitz.
4. Process
• Then I added the
next couple parts
make my podcast
longer and more
detailed so my
audience don’t get
bored and also so
they learn more
about the event.
5. Process
• I added the story of
a prisoner who
survived Auschwitz.
And we each said a
line so everyone had
something to say
and it wasn’t just
one person through
the whole thing.
6. Process
• I added the next
part of what the
next person was
saying of the story.
Here I also added a
marker so I could
cut off the bit that
wasn’t meant to be
there.
7. For this bit I added the
Next part of the story.
The story is split between
each person because it made
It easier for my future self to edit
And to put it all together.
8. Then I added the last part of
The story so the story was
Put together and made sense
For my audience. I also did it so
There wasn't a massive gap
Every time there was a cut.
9. After I finished the story it was
Time to close off my podcast
Which is what I added. This last
Part was me saying the
Remembrance date and also
Outro.
10. Next I added the backing
track and I made me
speaking and the music
fade at the beginning, the
middle and the end. I did
this so it looked more
professional and also so
every time it cut it didn't
sound blocky.
