3. Research
• My strengths for research was that it wasn't hard to find products to get
inspiration, because there's plenty of products like mine that exist.
Research helped my product because it showed me with what themes and
what people usually like when it comes to sensory books. My weaknesses
is that when I wanted to borrow some sensory books from college, they
were all mostly black and white, which wasn't any good because I wanted
to make my book colourful for the children. Next time I could have
improved on going to a library in town and looking at sensory books their
so I could get a feel for different materials and fonts/themes as well. This
would have helped my product because I could have made more pages
and had more ideas.
4. Planning
• The strengths for my planning was that it helped me know what I was
going to do before I winged it, and it helped me with what colours and
fonts I was going to use. My weakness for planning is that I couldn't make
my mind up for which theme I wanted to which was stopping me plan
because I didn't know if I wanted to do it with farm animals or pa petting
zoo animals. Next time I could improve on just to keep my mind on doing
one or the other instead of thinking to do both of those things because it
affected me from not doing any work and instead worrying about which I
was going to do.
5. Time Management
• So far, my projects is going to plan on the timing, my product would come
out better if we had more time, because along the way of making my
product there has been a lot of trial and error, which has wasted a lot of
practical time. My work could have been improved If we had more time
and I could have added more pages and added more textured fabrics to
my book as well.
6. Technical Qualities
This product has fabric at
the front of the book.
This book is about
creatures and you have
to pet the creatures which
is what you have to do with
my book.
However mine is different
because my book is about
animals that exist and that
book is about mythical
creatures.
This book also has different
fonts for different words
which is what I did with
My product is different
because it opens like a
calendar instead of
opening like a
normal book.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
My product looks pretty good for a media project, my product is
creative because it has never been done in media before so it makes a
change from a game or a documentary etc. I love that my product is
colourful because these days sensory books are black and white
because they want the books to be gender fluent. Next time I would
improve on the back page because it's the wrong way round when you
close the book, next time I would make sure all the pages are the right
way up. My strengths was that I knew what I was doing because I've
done this before when I studied childcare last year. My weaknesses
was that I couldn't cut all the pages the right size and it was hard to
find cartoon animals that looked similar to each other.
8. Audience Appeal
The theme that my audience
Wanted was animals, which is
What I chose in the end. Because my
Materials fit best with my materials.
Most of the materials that
I’ve used are soft, so my
Audience will be more then
Pleased.
Most of my audience have
0 – 3 years children in their life
Which was the age range I was
Going for.
For the gender most of them
Chose other gender, which
Helps with my FMP because
My book is for all genders.
For the price range, my audience
Chose £2-£4. which is what I chose
In the end, because it means that it’s
Affordable for the working class and for parents
That don’t want to spend too much money on books and toys.
9. Audience appeal
My audience wanted 4 – 6
Pages, I might of gone
Over the limit a little bit
But that means there’s
More entertainment.
For the colours my audience
Wanted primary colours, which
Is what I wanted to do for my
Book, because I wanted it to
Be colourful. So that the baby’s
Can learn and see and experience
New things.
My audience wanted my book to be made
from card, because it's more sturdy then
normal paper. However I made mine with
laminated paper, which was better because
it's more sturdier and hot glue sticks better to
it.
11. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that this product can help children interact with the
book with all the different textures for the animals.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product? Something I would change about this product
is I would add more material especially on the bunny
page, I would make the whole of the bunny fluffy, and I
would add a crunchy type of material onto the carrots.
12. Feedback 2

• Likes - It’s colourful, fun, imaginative and sensory.
Minnie likes pulling at the different textures in the
story and pointing at the colours.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• Improvements - Can’t criticise it, maybe a lift the
flap page or extra things to feel. These are always
fun for young ones to have in a book.
13. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the colours and the font that was used and the
style of the animals and how they were drawn.
• What improvements could have been made to

14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with my peer that my product
can help interact, and that I need to add more
materials. I also agree with adding the authors
name onto the back page.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? I disagree with adding material onto
the carrots, because I feel like that would be too
much.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
I would add more pages and more materials so the
child has more to interact with.
Next time I will also add my name onto the back so
the reader knows who wrote/made
The book. Next time I would also add a couple flap
pages so that the child can guess what
The animal is going to be and also so they can use
more of their sensors by lifting up the
Flap on the page.
