The document is a production log for a stop motion animation project. It summarizes the student's progress over several weeks as they worked to complete the project. They created characters out of felt and pipe cleaners to practice movements. Sound was added to experiment clips. Locations and lighting were tested. Scenes were storyboarded and filmed. Editing the clips together in Premier Pro took time. An issue arose finding voice actors to record the script, so music was used instead. After further production, the student was happy with the completed project using sound rather than a script.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

An EFL lesson about the current events in Palestine. It is intended to be for intermediate students who wish to increase their listening skills through a short lesson in power point.
2. 10th April 2018
We started FMP today. I plan on doing a stop motion animation.
The story will be about two 12 year olds who have been friends
for years and they go camping. In the early morning light the
Wildlife explorers come to hear the dawn chorus and spots the
girl hunched over the fire in her grandmothers old wool coat
and bobble hat and gets mistaken for a bear!
I plan on making the dolls out of artist dolls covered in felt and
old clothes to form clothing for them. Everything will be hand
made and all my original work.
3. 17th April 2018
This week I made “piper” this was to practice movements and
to see how the camera would pick up movement and how
much movement was needed. I set it up using a tripod and on
the college desk as it was a blank background.
Piper was made of pipe cleaners and held down by blue tack
as I was only viewing the movements so it did not matter
what the character looked like.
I added sound to my clip. I chose a happy whistling style
song as it was just short and funny.
4. 24th April 2018
This week I plan on focusing my attention to power points as my
props for the main project are still in production. I finished my
research power point after just brushing up my initial plans. I also
continued to fill in my experiments power point.
My 2nd Experiment was a short sequence I had filmed with just my
dolls to show movement and practice lighting so I could see how it
all worked.
Since I was only experimenting I did not book out a tripod so used a
step ladder just to rest it on. I also went out early morning to try see
what the lighting would be like if I were to do my product completely
outside. I decided not to do it outside but wanted to keep the
authenticity of the normal lighting and real backgrounds so I will dig
up some grass turf and plants and use the double doors we have for
the lighting or a lamp, depends.
5. 1st May 2018
This week I am focusing or sorting my shots and turning
the clips into video. I will be putting all shots into scenes
and organising my files. Today I managed to sort through
my images and make sequences. I also filmed my next
scenes.
I exported my videos and made a copy to be more sure
that it saves properly.
6. 8th May 2018
This week I am continuing production on my scenes. I will
be filming the final scenes this week. I also plan on making
the scenes and starting to put them in a sequence. I also
wrote my script. I plan on adding all the clips into adobe
premier pro and adding my script recordings all together. I
enjoy video editing but it will take a while so I need to speed
up production.
7. 4th June 2018
I have not had anything to really write up recently but it is
the same thing just improving, not much to write about and
there has been no other issues, until now. This week, today
in fact, well I needed to record my script but I have lack of
actors. As there are different characters each needs a
different voice. The issue with trying to add it as subtitles are
that the scenes are fast to make sure the movements look
smooth. If it were to just have music it may not have the
same effect but It would be a shame if it was left with no
audio. If I cannot find a way to do it then music, free to
download and legal, would have to do. It cannot be left
silent, but shame about the script.
8. 14th June 2018
Its been 10 days and I have completed production with
sound instead of a script. I was not happy with it at first but
then once I found the right music I managed to put it
together and in my opinion, I like it. Took me forever but I got
there in the end.
I finished up all my power points and talked about my
character design and general shots and smoothness of my
piece.
