The SME Development National Center of Armenia (SME DNC) aims to promote sustainable development of SMEs in Armenia. It seeks to improve the business environment, provide support services to SMEs, and increase SME competitiveness, including promoting resource efficiency and green practices. Recent initiatives have included surveys of SMEs, recommendations to address barriers to green practices, and integrating environmental objectives into SME support programs and strategies. The SME DNC offers training, consultancy, financing and other services to help SMEs adopt cleaner production and become more resource efficient.

The number of standards and certification schemes is expected to increase but schemes lack cross-border recognition, which may create inefficiencies or non-tariff barriers within the EU single market for services.
