Production Reflection
Jack Morton
Process
I started with finding a magnificent background for my DVD cover as I wanted to gather more attention to the cover as possible. I did this by searching specific backgrounds. I
then added in the title as I knew previously what the documentary is going to be called. I started by using the rectangle tool to create the shape of the title, I then decided
that white and blue went really well together as I wanted it to stand out to the audience. I then downloaded a font style to fit in with the survival documentary feel as I
wanted to show the audience. I then dragged all the rectangles and text together to make this wonder DVD cover. I had to decide a great font style as I had to draw
uniqueness to my DVD cover. Which resulted in me deciding to go with “book man old style” which worked well with the colour and background. The tools I used to create
this is the blending tool which changes the style of objects, I used this on the rectangle to make it smoother and more eye pleasing to look at. I also used this on the text to
make it sharper and more unique to grab the customers attention. To move the images I used the mouse pointer. This made the work simple and effortless as you simply just
clicked on the image you want to move and drag. The reason I choose this tool is to make the work quick and reasonable to ware they are located. I then used the rotate tool
to change the angle of the image I did this for text, shapes and images. The reason I did this is because it made the image look relevant to the setting. I then added “PG” into
the DVD cover as I will show its suitable for all ages. Quantitative research is made with closed questions as you can get information on both subjects, however the
disadvantage of using quantitative research is that the closed the question is short and to the point, this will mean you are given a small amount of information. My
quantitative survey told me both sides of my documentary trailer with information on both sides of the questions. The advantages of Qualitative research it is more in depth
and is more useful finding out about peoples opinions, beliefs and reasoning. It is most seen in a text or a discussion format or seen when a person has to reflect and expand
on their answer. Another advantage is Qualitative research is presented with open questions. A disadvantage is that the open questions require the interviewee to explain
and expand their answer because of this, the answer needs a lot of detail and reasons why. This can be time consuming as you will need a detailed answer. My qualitative
interview told me a lot of information however this extended the interview as I had to ask more detail.
Process
I feel I could improve the design of the shapes and the awards by
making a better edge/smoother edge. I could do this by using the
magic wand tool to create a smoother and sharper image that would
stand out to the viewer as some of the images have pointy and rugged
sides. I also feel I could choose a more reliable and un cliché
background as it is common and I wish I could choose something more
unique and different to catch the customers eye. I also would change
the blue ray at the bottom of the page as its not shot in blue ray
therefore I will be lying to the customer. I will also change the text as it
didn’t come out as I wanted it, as its to dull and not vibrant enough to
catch and stand out more than other font styles. I do like the awards
as it represents the effort and design I put into the survival
documentary. I also like the “survival Guide” layout as it fits in with its
surroundings and overall looks great. I also like the “PG” sign as it tells
the audience. %56 of the audience wanted a clear and colourful
design to stand out to the audience. I think achieved what the
audience wanted as its both clear and colourful, that it stands out
from a far.
Process
The tools I used in creating my documentary are the magic wand tool as it was great and gave the image a smooth look,
therefore it made the poster more sharper and detailed towards the customer as it would widen the target market and
attract more people. I then used a background that I took at Dalby forest therefore making it unique and different, therefore
this will stand out and making it more popular than other poster designs. I then used the crop tool to get unnecessary
images out of the way. I needed to create a bubble I did this by using the circle bubble to create this outstanding layout. I
then used the blending tool to create the bubble at the top as the standard design did not suit the documentary poster. I
then used the blending tool to tweak and change the shape and the colour of the shape as it made it more likeable and
friendly towards the customer. I then decided to make the text green and bold as it was the best way to get attention
directed at the documentary poster. About %57 of the audience wanted a calm, peaceful and loud poster. I think I ticked all
the boxes as the poster is calm as the forest is gentle and peaceful looking. The bright green background also is loud and
peaceful.
Process
Overall I do feel I could improve the title as it is bland and boring
however it is unique and therefore could attract the customer into
reading more information about the documentary. I also believe that
I could improve the text font as its not to my liking as its to dull and I
should of changed the font colour, to something different to the
background. If I were to do this again as it would make it sharper and
bolder to the audience therefore making them want to know more.
The image to the bottom middle is blurry as I would change the
image if I were to do this again as it would make the image more
professorial. However my thoughts on this are it’s a great
advertisement for my work as it shows how creative and wonderful
the world can be. Overall it does get the message across but it does
need to be tweaked to make it even better.
Process
The tools I used in my production in making my final major project are the razor tool as I used this I cropping the irrelevant scenes in my documentary. I also did this
for sound as some audio clips were also irrelevant as I wouldn’t make sense if I were to add it into the documentary. To move the images I used the mouse pointer.
This made the work simple and effortless as you simply just clicked on the image you want to move and drag. The reason I choose this tool is to make the work quick
and reasonable to where they are located. I then used the rotate tool to change the angle of the image I did this for the video clips. The reason I did this is because it
made the image look relevant to the setting. I choose sharp colours because it gave a sharp and attention grabber towards any customers who notice the
documentary trailer. I feel I could improve the design of the documentary by making a better edge. I could do this by using the magic wand tool to create a smoother
and sharper image that would stand out to the viewer. I imported the audio and video clips into premiere pro and I then exported the finished major project and sent
it to my tutor. My feelings on importing were that it was confusing and time consuming and that it didn’t need to be done as you can drag video clips and audio clips
into premiere with importing them. I also had the same problem with exporting as this also took time exporting. The title effects I used were transitions which made
the video smoother and overall fits in with the documentary style. Another title effect that I used was fade out which made the video fade out which made the
ending smooth as it went to black. The opacity of the brightness is %50, this is the screen brightness, this made the documentary visible. I also used %24 of fading for
the title as it made it look slow and to ease the viewer into the next scene. I used a phone to record the audio as I didn't have time to book the equipment I needed
to record the audio because of this I used a good quality phone to record this wonderful, magnificent and intense piece. I inserted into the documentary as a outro
and yes it does fit into the documentary quite well. It also worked very well in the edit by making it effective as it presents useful information and detail into the
documentary.
Opacity
I added the graphic by going on the title option and selecting default still this brought up the
window for the graphic editor. I then added text using the text tool and altered the colour to
orange. I altered the colour to orange to make it stand out to the audience. The font I used was
Adobe Heiti Std R, the reason I chose this font is because it suggests survival as it has a survival
atmosphere to it. After this I exited the graphic window and went into the effect controls
altering the opacity from 0% to 100% using key frames to fade in the text. This helped me to
make the animation smooth and ease the title to the next opening scene.
Process
I feel It would do a great job of advertising to the viewer and making them want to buy it. I do feel it could improved by
making the documentary scenes appeal more to the audience. I could of done this by selecting a better design. Overall in
my opinion the documentary is friendly, mature and will be suitable for all audiences. I do believe if I had more time I could
do a better job. I would do this by making all the designs stand out more and be bold to grab the viewers attention. My
thoughts on this are it’s a great advertisement for my work as it shows how vast and dangerous space can be. It also shows
how dangerous and merciless the wild can be. I do think the work needs improving as the designs are bit rusty. I would of
used the magic wand tool if I were to do this again as it would make it sharper and bolder to the audience therefore making
them want to know more. If I were to do this again as it would make the design more professorial. Overall it does need to be
tweaked to make it even better.

6. fmp production reflection

  • 2. Process I started with finding a magnificent background for my DVD cover as I wanted to gather more attention to the cover as possible. I did this by searching specific backgrounds. I then added in the title as I knew previously what the documentary is going to be called. I started by using the rectangle tool to create the shape of the title, I then decided that white and blue went really well together as I wanted it to stand out to the audience. I then downloaded a font style to fit in with the survival documentary feel as I wanted to show the audience. I then dragged all the rectangles and text together to make this wonder DVD cover. I had to decide a great font style as I had to draw uniqueness to my DVD cover. Which resulted in me deciding to go with “book man old style” which worked well with the colour and background. The tools I used to create this is the blending tool which changes the style of objects, I used this on the rectangle to make it smoother and more eye pleasing to look at. I also used this on the text to make it sharper and more unique to grab the customers attention. To move the images I used the mouse pointer. This made the work simple and effortless as you simply just clicked on the image you want to move and drag. The reason I choose this tool is to make the work quick and reasonable to ware they are located. I then used the rotate tool to change the angle of the image I did this for text, shapes and images. The reason I did this is because it made the image look relevant to the setting. I then added “PG” into the DVD cover as I will show its suitable for all ages. Quantitative research is made with closed questions as you can get information on both subjects, however the disadvantage of using quantitative research is that the closed the question is short and to the point, this will mean you are given a small amount of information. My quantitative survey told me both sides of my documentary trailer with information on both sides of the questions. The advantages of Qualitative research it is more in depth and is more useful finding out about peoples opinions, beliefs and reasoning. It is most seen in a text or a discussion format or seen when a person has to reflect and expand on their answer. Another advantage is Qualitative research is presented with open questions. A disadvantage is that the open questions require the interviewee to explain and expand their answer because of this, the answer needs a lot of detail and reasons why. This can be time consuming as you will need a detailed answer. My qualitative interview told me a lot of information however this extended the interview as I had to ask more detail.
  • 3. Process I feel I could improve the design of the shapes and the awards by making a better edge/smoother edge. I could do this by using the magic wand tool to create a smoother and sharper image that would stand out to the viewer as some of the images have pointy and rugged sides. I also feel I could choose a more reliable and un cliché background as it is common and I wish I could choose something more unique and different to catch the customers eye. I also would change the blue ray at the bottom of the page as its not shot in blue ray therefore I will be lying to the customer. I will also change the text as it didn’t come out as I wanted it, as its to dull and not vibrant enough to catch and stand out more than other font styles. I do like the awards as it represents the effort and design I put into the survival documentary. I also like the “survival Guide” layout as it fits in with its surroundings and overall looks great. I also like the “PG” sign as it tells the audience. %56 of the audience wanted a clear and colourful design to stand out to the audience. I think achieved what the audience wanted as its both clear and colourful, that it stands out from a far.
  • 4. Process The tools I used in creating my documentary are the magic wand tool as it was great and gave the image a smooth look, therefore it made the poster more sharper and detailed towards the customer as it would widen the target market and attract more people. I then used a background that I took at Dalby forest therefore making it unique and different, therefore this will stand out and making it more popular than other poster designs. I then used the crop tool to get unnecessary images out of the way. I needed to create a bubble I did this by using the circle bubble to create this outstanding layout. I then used the blending tool to create the bubble at the top as the standard design did not suit the documentary poster. I then used the blending tool to tweak and change the shape and the colour of the shape as it made it more likeable and friendly towards the customer. I then decided to make the text green and bold as it was the best way to get attention directed at the documentary poster. About %57 of the audience wanted a calm, peaceful and loud poster. I think I ticked all the boxes as the poster is calm as the forest is gentle and peaceful looking. The bright green background also is loud and peaceful.
  • 5. Process Overall I do feel I could improve the title as it is bland and boring however it is unique and therefore could attract the customer into reading more information about the documentary. I also believe that I could improve the text font as its not to my liking as its to dull and I should of changed the font colour, to something different to the background. If I were to do this again as it would make it sharper and bolder to the audience therefore making them want to know more. The image to the bottom middle is blurry as I would change the image if I were to do this again as it would make the image more professorial. However my thoughts on this are it’s a great advertisement for my work as it shows how creative and wonderful the world can be. Overall it does get the message across but it does need to be tweaked to make it even better.
  • 6. Process The tools I used in my production in making my final major project are the razor tool as I used this I cropping the irrelevant scenes in my documentary. I also did this for sound as some audio clips were also irrelevant as I wouldn’t make sense if I were to add it into the documentary. To move the images I used the mouse pointer. This made the work simple and effortless as you simply just clicked on the image you want to move and drag. The reason I choose this tool is to make the work quick and reasonable to where they are located. I then used the rotate tool to change the angle of the image I did this for the video clips. The reason I did this is because it made the image look relevant to the setting. I choose sharp colours because it gave a sharp and attention grabber towards any customers who notice the documentary trailer. I feel I could improve the design of the documentary by making a better edge. I could do this by using the magic wand tool to create a smoother and sharper image that would stand out to the viewer. I imported the audio and video clips into premiere pro and I then exported the finished major project and sent it to my tutor. My feelings on importing were that it was confusing and time consuming and that it didn’t need to be done as you can drag video clips and audio clips into premiere with importing them. I also had the same problem with exporting as this also took time exporting. The title effects I used were transitions which made the video smoother and overall fits in with the documentary style. Another title effect that I used was fade out which made the video fade out which made the ending smooth as it went to black. The opacity of the brightness is %50, this is the screen brightness, this made the documentary visible. I also used %24 of fading for the title as it made it look slow and to ease the viewer into the next scene. I used a phone to record the audio as I didn't have time to book the equipment I needed to record the audio because of this I used a good quality phone to record this wonderful, magnificent and intense piece. I inserted into the documentary as a outro and yes it does fit into the documentary quite well. It also worked very well in the edit by making it effective as it presents useful information and detail into the documentary.
  • 7. Opacity I added the graphic by going on the title option and selecting default still this brought up the window for the graphic editor. I then added text using the text tool and altered the colour to orange. I altered the colour to orange to make it stand out to the audience. The font I used was Adobe Heiti Std R, the reason I chose this font is because it suggests survival as it has a survival atmosphere to it. After this I exited the graphic window and went into the effect controls altering the opacity from 0% to 100% using key frames to fade in the text. This helped me to make the animation smooth and ease the title to the next opening scene.
  • 8. Process I feel It would do a great job of advertising to the viewer and making them want to buy it. I do feel it could improved by making the documentary scenes appeal more to the audience. I could of done this by selecting a better design. Overall in my opinion the documentary is friendly, mature and will be suitable for all audiences. I do believe if I had more time I could do a better job. I would do this by making all the designs stand out more and be bold to grab the viewers attention. My thoughts on this are it’s a great advertisement for my work as it shows how vast and dangerous space can be. It also shows how dangerous and merciless the wild can be. I do think the work needs improving as the designs are bit rusty. I would of used the magic wand tool if I were to do this again as it would make it sharper and bolder to the audience therefore making them want to know more. If I were to do this again as it would make the design more professorial. Overall it does need to be tweaked to make it even better.
