PRODUCTION
PROCESS
EVALUATION
 One of the best qualities of my research was that it covered a broad
array of different genres and production styles, showing how the chosen
products differed and the similarities they shared. The research that I did
helped me to further define the boundaries of my idea, and gradually built
up the concept until it was ready to be used. A weakness of my research
would be that I didn’t direct an equal amount of attention towards every
aspect, and if I could improve it, I would add more to the areas that are
lacking.
 Thanks to the guidelines set out the pro-formas provided, I was able to
structure the planning stage of my project quite efficiently, and as such I
believe myself to have been very thorough in that regard. A weakness of
my planning would be that it was too directed by the provided standards,
and lacks a quality of independence to it, which would have lent it a
greater strength and could have possibly added a currently
unacknowledged element to the product.
 Different sections of the project were organised on a week-by-week
basis, so that each area had a more-or-less equal amount of time
dedicated to it. This provided a fluid time scale on which we could
accurately develop each of our projects, while still being held
accountable if we slipped over the given limit. If I had more time I would
spend it reorganising and reviewing the planning and pre-production
phases of the project, so that I can develop more contingencies,
production plans, and techniques.
As displayed above, the camera was placed on a
tripod and used to record differently angled shots.
While most of the shots were straight on, there were
more angular shots to better capture the full scope
of the scene.
This displays the audio qualities of my work, which focuses on
diegetic sounds like the above microwave. I decided to only use
sounds that would occur naturally to further enhance the realism of
the project and to sell it as a realistic situation.
When editing the fully filmed project, I chose not to use any flashy special
effects or transitions in order to ground the product further in reality, as such
things would only end up lending a fantastical aspect to the final piece,
disregarding the themes that were being presented.
As already established, the core scheme of the project was realism, and
while the finished piece didn’t match up with the original plan, it did not
fail to succeed either. Looking at the final product, it works really well
with the resources it has, and the lack of more unrealistic elements helps
to drive home the point of the piece.
The main appeal of the project is relatability, which it succeeds in
conveying thanks to the aesthetics presented and the efforts of the
actress. The audience feels sympathy for the main character because
they can easily imagine themselves in her position. Bolstered by the
fact that she struggles with a relatable problem. Secondarily is the
comedic value, sold through the exaggeration and emotive behaviour
displayed by the main character.

 What did you like about the product?
 I was really liking the acting in it as it was fully committed and she
didn’t look at the camera once, also loved the different types of
camera angles.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I struggled to understand the concept of it till the end scene but it did
click after what it was about. Also I think there could have been a few
different camera movements like panning or something like that as the
camera was still throughout over all I think this is a good piece of work
considering the time scale he had.
 What did you like about the product?
 I liked the idea of the film and the continuity of the film as it all made
sense.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I think you could have had a bit more of a clear shot of a watch or a
clock.
 What did you like about the product?
 I like the sound effects added such as the doorbell to suggest
something happening off camera. This adds more life to the video.
 The facial expressions gave a vibe of hurrying and restlessness when
waiting for things.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 Music of some sort could have maybe helped get emotions across.
 Effects could be added in for simulating the food overcooked in the
oven - for example: smoke coming form the oven.
 What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I agree that the acting, storyline, and general direction of the film was
well done, being that those were what I focused on the most during
both the planning and production phases of the project.
 What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 I disagree that the film needed any unnecessary special effects to
stand out, with the focus on the more human elements helping to
ground it in reality.
If I could change anything, it would be making things clearer to the audience,
such as what the overall plot was, or what the relationship between each of the
scenes was like. Additionally, I would make sure that the scenes themselves
had greater clarity, whether by adjusting the set in some way or by using the
greater technical capabilities of the equipment available.

This provided a fluid time scale on which we could accurately develop each of our projects, while still being held accountable if we slipped over the given limit. If I had more time I would spend it reorganising and reviewing the planning and pre-production phases of the project, so that I can develop more contingencies, production plans, and techniques.
  • 6. As displayed above, the camera was placed on a tripod and used to record differently angled shots. While most of the shots were straight on, there were more angular shots to better capture the full scope of the scene.
  • 7. This displays the audio qualities of my work, which focuses on diegetic sounds like the above microwave. I decided to only use sounds that would occur naturally to further enhance the realism of the project and to sell it as a realistic situation.
  • 8. When editing the fully filmed project, I chose not to use any flashy special effects or transitions in order to ground the product further in reality, as such things would only end up lending a fantastical aspect to the final piece, disregarding the themes that were being presented.
  • 9. As already established, the core scheme of the project was realism, and while the finished piece didn’t match up with the original plan, it did not fail to succeed either. Looking at the final product, it works really well with the resources it has, and the lack of more unrealistic elements helps to drive home the point of the piece.
  • 10. The main appeal of the project is relatability, which it succeeds in conveying thanks to the aesthetics presented and the efforts of the actress. The audience feels sympathy for the main character because they can easily imagine themselves in her position. Bolstered by the fact that she struggles with a relatable problem. Secondarily is the comedic value, sold through the exaggeration and emotive behaviour displayed by the main character.
  • 12.  What did you like about the product?  I was really liking the acting in it as it was fully committed and she didn’t look at the camera once, also loved the different types of camera angles.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  I struggled to understand the concept of it till the end scene but it did click after what it was about. Also I think there could have been a few different camera movements like panning or something like that as the camera was still throughout over all I think this is a good piece of work considering the time scale he had.
  • 13.  What did you like about the product?  I liked the idea of the film and the continuity of the film as it all made sense.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  I think you could have had a bit more of a clear shot of a watch or a clock.
  • 14.  What did you like about the product?  I like the sound effects added such as the doorbell to suggest something happening off camera. This adds more life to the video.  The facial expressions gave a vibe of hurrying and restlessness when waiting for things.  What improvements could have been made to the product?  Music of some sort could have maybe helped get emotions across.  Effects could be added in for simulating the food overcooked in the oven - for example: smoke coming form the oven.
  • 15.  What do you agree with from your peer feedback?  I agree that the acting, storyline, and general direction of the film was well done, being that those were what I focused on the most during both the planning and production phases of the project.  What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?  I disagree that the film needed any unnecessary special effects to stand out, with the focus on the more human elements helping to ground it in reality.
  • 16. If I could change anything, it would be making things clearer to the audience, such as what the overall plot was, or what the relationship between each of the scenes was like. Additionally, I would make sure that the scenes themselves had greater clarity, whether by adjusting the set in some way or by using the greater technical capabilities of the equipment available.
