McGee Group was employed as Principal Contractor to undertake the demolition and
asbestos removal works at 52 Lime Street.
The project involved the demolition of three existing 6-7 storey office block buildings and
its associated structures which were built in the 1950s-2002 and the construction of a new
36-storey commercial office tower with two basement levels plus all structural works associated
with the investigation works.
The demolition works generally consisted of the following works activities in 2 separate phases;
Phase 1 Demolition
•	 Demolition down to ground level of 52 – 54 Lime St & 21 – 26 Leadenhall St (an 8 storey
building with one level basement) with partial retention of the existing basement structures.
•	 Demolition down to ground level of 27 – 27A Leadenhall St (an 7 storey building with two
level basement) with partial retention of the existing basement structures.
•	 Demolition and relocation of 3 no. UKPN substations.
•	 Design, supply and installation of all associated temporary works etc.
•	 Asbestos removal works.
•	 Soft strip works.
Phase 2 Demolition
•	 Demolition down to ground level of 34 – 35 Leadenhall St and 4 -5 Billiter St (a 7 storey
building with two level basement) with partial retention of the existing basement structures.
•	 Phase 2 Site Investigation and Ground Investigation works.
•	 Demolition and relocation of 3 no. UKPN substations.
•	 Design, supply and installation of all associated temporary works etc.
•	 Asbestos removal works.
•	 Soft strip works.

tion phase thorough to Hand Over to client/main contractor. Primary Responsibly for Health and Safety, Environmental
responsibilities under Law and Company policies. Ultimate responsibility for Client/Contractor relationship, Project Team
management and delegation, contractual administration, program delivery, financial control, resource and task schedul-
ing, RA and MS quality, implementation & monitoring, quality & inspection control, sub-contractor governance and daily
on-site project management team.
