McGee Group was hired as the principal contractor to demolish three existing office buildings and conduct asbestos removal works at 52 Lime Street in preparation for a new 36-story commercial office tower. The demolition work was conducted in two phases and involved taking down the existing 6-7 story 1950s-2002 era buildings down to ground level, removing asbestos, and partially retaining the basement structures. Utilities were also relocated and temporary construction measures were put in place. Brian Haughton of McGee Group managed the 52-week, £8 million project as the contracts manager, overseeing all demolition and construction work from pre-construction through to handover.
