Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and...
Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and Beowulf
In Paradise Lost, Milton is adept at drawing from both Christian and pagan sources and integrating
them in such a way that they reinforce one another (Abrams 1075). Of course it is a commonplace for
critics to believe that Milton valued his Christian sources more highly than the pagan ones (Martindale
20); this is most likely due to the fact that he regarded the Christian sources as vessels of the truth. His
classical allusions, on the other hand, served as references for things fallen or damned. Thus, as seen
in the invocation to Book 7 ( Descend from heav n Urania, by that name / If rightly thou art called [7.1
2]) wherein Milton places his muse Urania, the Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, I agree with John D. Niles that if this poem can be attributed to a Christian author composing
not earlier than the first half of the tenth century...then there is little reason to read it as a survival from
the heathen age that came to be marred by monkish interpolations (137). Just as the Beowulf poet s
contemporary audience was thrown into a schizophrenic state by the pull of a pagan past against the
new teachings of Christianity, the poet himself was put to task to successfully blend these religious
ideologies in a complex yet effective plot that appealed to his audience precisely because they were
attempting to reconcile their own beliefs.
Although Beowulf most likely began as such a pagan epic, it eventually was expanded to include
Christian elements, whereas Paradise Lost is definitely a Christian tale that uses classical allusions to
remain connected to the epic tradition. In both tales, pagan or classical allusions, in contrast to
Christian allusions, are used in reference to that which is fallen or damned. Yet I must be careful not to
imply that Milton was using the Beowulf manuscript as a source because the manuscript was not
available in England until 1815; therefore, Milton could not have been aware of it during the

Introduction
Loblaw Companies is facing the greatest competitive challenge of its recent history with the launch of
Wal Mart into their markets. Having originally entered the market in 1994 through the acquisition of
122 Woolco Stores, Wal Mart is planning to open their first SuperCenter in Canada imminently.
Known for their Every Day Low Price (EDLP) value proposition, exceptionally efficient supply chain,
logistics and ERP process execution, marketing aimed at budget conscious buyers, and product
selection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This analysis as of the industry and Loblaw also illustrate how critical operational responses, not
pricing or marketing alone, are required to sustain its existing growth rate and achieve higher growth
over time. Each of the specific aspects of Porter s Model is next analyzed and insights are used for
defining alternatives and recommendations for the strategic direction of Loblaw.
Threat of Substitute Products and Retail Outlets
Given the relatively high level of capitalization required to move into the Canadian retail grocery
market and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) also required, these two factors combined create a
formidable barrier to entry for competitors. The exceptions are the well capitalized global competitors
including Carrefour and Wal Mart. Loblaw s reliance on stores as a brand, Control Label, and
Customer Loyalty provide a unique mix of products which also alleviates potential conflicts with
lower end retailers and their regional strengths and weaknesses.
Supplier Power
For Loblaw the continual improving of electronic initiatives including the adoption of the ECCNet
standard and the development of more advanced support of demand planning, ERP integration of
supply chain planning and execution, have given the company a defendable position with suppliers.
The supplier community in retailing tends to dominate the smaller retailers, yet the converse is true

I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay
Introduction
My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular and
extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my potential.
In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from colleagues over the
last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and weaknesses, and work style and
leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self assessment analysis based upon qualitative
and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences and exercises during this semester. I have
identified three broad themes that incorporate several subthemes representing my current abilities,
preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix 1). Further, I have developed my action plan for
the next semester to enhance my strengths and learn new skills, which are critical for my future career
growth, to overcome my weaknesses.
Self assessment
Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented
Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always action
and performance oriented. My print assessment shows that generally I am not fond of exhaustive
planning or grueling analysis; I prefer things moving forward. I am spontaneous and able to take risks.
In addition, my self confidence has a calming effect on others while at the same time mobilizing them

Waucoba Wash Quadrangle
Geologic History of Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California
The Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California cross section begins with the deposition of the Cambrian
layers such as the Campito Formation, Poleta Formation (upper and middle members and undivided),
Harkless Formation, Saline Valley Formation (lower and upper members), Mule Spring Limestone,
Monola Formation (lower and upper members), and the Bonanaza King dolomite (dominantly
limestone and undivided). These Cambrian rocks are followed by rock layers from the Devonian
period, thus meaning that an unconformity occurred between the layers. The Devonian dolomite rock
layers include the Hidden Valley dolomite and the Lost Burro Formation (cherty dolomite). These are
followed by the Mississippian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major things noticeable from the cross section is that quite a few of the rock layers are over
turned, where the older rock layers are above the newer rock layers. This is seen in the contact
between the Quartz Monzonite of Papoose Flat and the Campito Formation which is also a
disconformity. Next there is some fault zones separating the Camptio, Poleta, and Harkless
formations. We then see some more overturned layers with the contacts between Saline Spring Valley
Formation (lower and upper members) above the Mule Spring Formation along with some inferred
folding. With a normal fault separating the inferred folding event, we see where the overturning
occurs. In between the Cambrian layers we see Tertiary Basalt nonconformities also being folded, thus
with that we know that the folding event was more recent than the formation of the Basalt. Next there
is a large Basalt field with a spot of the Harkless formation. Again we see over tuning as the Basalt
field ends there are the Devonian and Mississippian rock Layers on top of the basalt. Separating these
overturned layers from the Harkless Formation and the Saline valley Formation (upper member),
which are not overturned, is a thrust fault. From this information, there was a major stress event
sometime after the Tertiary period causing the rock layers to fold and overturn. And from this stress
event and from the folding, normal and thrust faults are formed. Finally we see that there were alluvial
and landslide deposits from the Quaternary after the folding, faulting, and over

Personal Narrative-Go To The Cracker Barrel
I desperately ask the manager where are all of your golf balls? He replied right over here. So, i put that
one back on the shelf. I Quickly scanned the rest of the selves to find some that had specific letters

noticed there was a book on the table. It said. The stroller. So, I quickly opened it. I found a letter

The Case Miller V Davis Case
In August 2015, the case Miller V Davis brought to light the complicated relationship between law
and morality. Indeed, Mrs Davis a county clerk in Rowan county (Kentucky), is being sued for not
delivering marriage licences to same sex couples as she believes that homosexuality is morally wrong.
Thus, despite the fact that same sex marriage has been made legal by the U.S Supreme Court since
June 2015. Ought individuals to apply the law though it is in inadequacy with their moral beliefs? Do
the law should be totally free from any moral influence? Many legal scholars have argued on these
questions, as well as trying to define the terms law and morality . While no one has agreed to a
universal definition, law can be defined as a body of rules, whether proceeding from formal enactment
or from custom, which a particular state or community recognizes as binding on its members or
subjects . On the other hand, morality is referred to as an ethical wisdom , the set of common values
unifying a society. This essay will discuss the role of morality in the law, while analysing different
legal school of thoughts arguing on the topic. First of all, positivists such as Bentham, Austin and
Hart, argued that morality should not interfere with the law as it is created by a legitimate authority.
On the other hand, naturalist theorists, such as Aristotle, Fuller and Dworkin, believed in the existence
of a higher law , highly influenced by morals, has to be integrated in a legal system

Hydrogen Peroxide Reaction Lab Report
The objective of the experiment is to observe how a catalyst affects the rate of the decomposition of
hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is generally stored in a dark container because if it is exposed
to UV lights and warm areas, it will begin to decompose its water and oxygen since it has an unstable
oxygen to oxygen bond. The rate of the reaction can be observed by placing the solution of warm
deionized water and the catalyst, liquid potassium iodide, in an erlenmeyer flask. The role of the
catalyst is to speed up the reaction. After adding aqueous 3% H2O2, the flask is quickly sealed off in
order to calculate the exact amount of gas released. The oxygen volume will travel up a plastic hose,
into a burette filled with water. The oxygen will push the water down the burette as the hydrogen
peroxide is decomposing and down another hose that leads to a syringe. By comparing the initial
water volume of the burette and the final water volume, the difference determines how much oxygen
volume the decomposition released. This process is repeated, however each step has a different
amount of concentration.
The rate law for the decomposition of hydrogen is calculated by plotting the amount of volume
oxygen gas released with respect to the amount of time it took for it to ... Show more content on

Liberty And Security
The founding of America was built on freedom, the effort of acting and choosing personal endeavors
and having no fear of impactful consequences. The oppression of the British, there was an invasion of
citizen s rights and a threat to the security of the general population, in such conditions it is their right,
it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security
(Paul Larkin 18). America entered war viewing security and liberty as one to create the modern united
states. However, the balance between liberty and security are different as protecting citizens from
foreign threats is different from protecting their liberty. Internet, airport security, and social media are
just a few examples of a nation achieving unlimited freedom and security to citizens but also having
the power to take it all away as achieving full control of power and privacy is an abuse of the
government repeating the same oppression that the founding generation once feared.

The Problem of Sweatshops and Child Labor Essay
Manufacturing A Better Life
America has always been considered to be the breadbasket of the world. The American people have
found ways to make various products overseas without spending a lot of money. The factory
employees however, have gotten the short end of the stick when dealing with the American
companies. Not only have Americans taken advantage of less fortunate third world countries, but they
have also created unhealthy working environments. Regardless of gender or age, some companies
subject their employees to harsh working conditions, under minimum wage payment, exhausting

However, addressing the problem of child labor will require more than recognizing its connection to
poverty. Governments, human rights organizations, labor leaders, corporations, and health
professionals must all work together to find effective ways to ensure that the world s children are
educated and not exploited in jobs in multinational or illegal industries. By proposing this act, it would
prohibit U.S. imports of goods produced by children laborer. Such legislation would help third world
countries enforce laws against child labor; ultimately, it would protect the world s youngsters from the
abusive and hazardous conditions often found in factories that rely on low wage labor. It would curb
poverty by getting these kids out of hazardous, abusive working conditions and into school where they
may receive an education and contribute productively to their economy. We look out for animals and
prisoners, but fail to protect youngsters from exploitive and abusive labor.

Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire
Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the
rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it
embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free
thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic
Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in
exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to
define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion,
freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were
expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the
Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a
central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize
feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject
of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the
same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her
unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. Even though the focus of the image is the sorrowful woman, the

What is Propaganda?
Art is a powerful thing. It has fueled revolutions, cultural movements, and wars. (Axelrod, 2015 Art
Power in North Korea). However, when art is only a mouthpiece for the government s agenda, it
ceases to be a medium for true communication. In this way, people are stripped of a powerful means
for expression (Axelrod, 2015 Art Power in North Korea). This is called propaganda. Now what is
propaganda, might the reader ask? Propaganda is the spread of political, philosophical, scientific,
artistic, and others views and ideas with a view to their implementation (Great Soviet Encyclopedia,
2011). Propaganda has proven itself again and again to be the most decisive tool in most conflicts, as
by using propaganda you are molding the minds of your people, eliminating dissent and gaining
overwhelming support for anything you wish. It is once said by the famous American general Douglas
A.Macarthur that One cannot wage war under present conditions without the support of public
opinion, which is tremendously molded by the press and other forms of propaganda (Chicago Tribune,
March 3 1942 Pg.3). Some of the biggest users of propaganda were communist countries such as the
USSR, China, North Korea. But first, I d like to explain what communism is.

SDB s asset quality, earnings capability and capital adequacy are the three aspects I will pay attention

Large amount of NPL may also on the other hand provide higher interest revenue for SDB on the high
risk loan they made, so to determine its financial performance we have to also consider its earnings
capability.
Earnings capability
The key earnings measurements of SDB are ROAA (net income/average total assets) and ROAE (net
income/average equity). ROAA is called return on average asset. It is an indicator shows how much
bank earns as a percentage of total assets. ROAE is an indicator for return on equity. And From 2000
to 2002, the SDB s ROAA and ROAE are decreasing over time. Based on Exhibit 10 (Jin, Xuan, Bai,
2009), the average ROAA for industry peers is 0.6%, higher than SDB S ROAA, which is 0.3%. The
average ROAE for industry peers is 26.8%, which is much higher than 9.1% for SDB. These data
shows SDB is not a profitable bank as the profitability of both bank s total assets and average equity
are lower than industry peers. Moreover, the overall financial performance of SDB is worse compare
with its industry peers. This is because not only the ROAA and ROAE are lower than other banks but
also other measure of firm earning capability are performing poor than industry peers. For example,
the Operating expense/Operating income ratio for average industry peers is 55.3% and for SDB is
58.3% (Jin, Xuan, Bai, 2009). Which means for every operating income SDB generated, it has to
spend more than others.

A Direct Link Between Carbon Dioxide And Global Warming
Damon Matthews, a professor in Concordia University s Department of Geography, found a direct
connection between carbon dioxide and global warming. Matthew s studies show that same global
temperature increase, regardless of when or over what period of time the emission occurs. The effect
of adding more carbon dioxide is predicted in the theory of greenhouse gases. Swedish scientist,
Syante Arrhenius, first proposed the theory in 1896, based on earlier work by Fourier and Tyndall. At
the same time, many scientists have reached the same conclusion. If we increase the amount of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth s temperature will increase. Energy is absorbed from
the sun in the form of visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The earth then releases some of this
energy as infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere captures some of this heat, then re
emit it in all directions. During this process, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases keep the Earth
s surface 33 degree Celsius warmer than it would be without them. According to an ongoing
temperature analysis conducted by a scientist at NASA s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS),
the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8 degree Celsius. Since 1975, two
thirds of the warming has occurred at a rate of roughly 0.15 0.20 degree Celsius per decade. Our lives
involve the emission of theses dangerous greenhouse gases (Bushnell 25). Carbon dioxide has

Comparing Identity In Ratatouille, And Disney-Pixar s
Identity, what is identity? Is it who we think we are? Or is it who we want to be? Perhaps it is even
how others see us? My Father s Axe by Tim Winton and Disney Pixar s Ratatouille both make viewers
consider the identities of the main characters and how sometimes, how society sees us or who we want
to be can be in conflict with whom we really are. In Winton s short story, the protagonist tries to be a
good man, good husband and a good father, but all these things he wants to be is diminishing his true
self. While in the movie Ratatouille , Linguini has become a famous cook through the help of his
talented little friend . After he reaches the peak of the cooking world in France, he slowly realises that
his true self is just as important as how society sees him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people see us can define us more than who we really are. I saw my father ball his handkerchief up and
bit on it to muffle his sobs . The identity crisis is not only affecting the main character but also his

how society will perceive you is also explored in the movie

Sustainable Development Within A Business
Sustainable development in a business, although a widely used phrase and idea, has many different
meanings and therefore provokes many different responses. Although managing the economic bottom
line and protecting social and environment resources is an important aspect of sustainability, it is not
the only aspect. For example, sustainability refers greatly to an accounting framework with three
parts: social, environment and financial. Commonly known as the Triple Bottom Line. One business
that aims to achieve this concept is Cascade Engineering. The CEO, Mark Miller (2014) considers the
concept of sustainability as the three interconnected gears in motion . Each category is an
interdependent, innovation enabling mechanism. Sustainability has been an often mentioned goal of
business, non profits and governments in the past decade, yet measuring the degree to which an
organization is being sustainable or pursuing sustainable growth can be difficult. In broad terms,
sustainable development is an attempt to combine growing concerns about a range of environmental
issues with socio economic issues.
The widespread rise of interest in, and support for, the concept of sustainable development is
potentially an important shift in understanding relationships of humanity with nature between people.
It is in contrast to the dominant outlook of the last couple of hundred years, especially in the North ,
that has been based on the view of the separation of the environment from

the heads of beachgoers just before you land? You might want to take a trip to see at least one of them
if you get the chance. You could even take an epic journey and visit several of them in one trip. Just
pack your bags and head over to SeaTac Airport for the adventure of a lifetime. Before you drop your
car off at Aeroparking for safekeeping, take a look at a few of some of the strangest airports in the
world.
Courchevel, France

In order to land at the airport, you must first fly directly over the heads of people on the beach.
Because of the position of the runway, you could be close enough to the ground to see what the
beachgoers are wearing. The tourists don t usually seem to mind, but the sound of the landing planes
can be somewhat deafening.
Barra, Scotland
Forget flying over the shoreline how about landing right on the beach instead? That s what you ll do if
you fly to this Scottish island. Planes have been landing there since the 1930s. Although the runways
are not paved, they accommodate over 1,000 flights annually.
Gibraltar
The airport in this British territory between Spain and Morocco has, perhaps, one of the weirdest
runways on the planet. It is intersected by the busiest road in Gibraltar. Amazingly, the airport and the
town are able to use the space in harmony.
Exploring some of the world s strangest airports can be fun, but you ll probably be glad to return to
SeaTac! After a hair raising landing or two, you might develop a whole new level of appreciation for
SeaTac Airport. Another detail you can appreciate: Your car will be safe at Aeroparking while you re

Potential Inappropriate Medication (HT)
INTRODUCTION Hypertension (HT), defined as a chronic elevation of systolic and/or diastolic
blood pressure (BP), is in all probability the most common chronic disease today. Clinically
hypertension is not a disease at usual sense it is a risk factor for many future vascular diseases1,2. In
human body blood pressure is maintained by several factors such as kidney, sympathetic nervous
system, hormonal mechanisms along with the diet taken. These include lipids, magnesium, sodium,
potassium and the total energy intake3. When two or more drugs are co administrated together there is

Doctors should cautious about Potential Inappropriate Medication (PIM) and other potential drug
disease interactions (PDDI). In this patients homeostatic mechanisms and functional capacities of
most drugs are reduced on being aged. Decline in renal function and GFR also affect the drug
clearance. It is evident from many other studies about the age related reduction in metabolic capacity
of liver of man5. This significantly influence the pharmacokinetics of a drug. Apart from kinetics
pharmacodynamic changes in the elderly patients are ascribed to changes in the sensitivity to drugs.
Polypharmacy is common in elderly patients is that more than 40% persons aged 65 or above use
more than 5 drugs and 12% use ten or more different medications7. This makes elderly populations
more susceptable to drug interactions. The probability of potential drug interactions for a person
taking 7 or more drugs is 82% whereas it is only 13% for a person taking two

Homeless Problem Essay
Homeless problem is easier to solve than to manage (Malcolm Gladwell). It is so difficult to find a
good answer for this issue, but the most moral solution for the homeless problem is to give them a free
apartment and take care of them, if they have injuries, like mental illness or addictions. This is a good
resolution because they need something to start with a new life, and this solution is a good way for a
new beginning, as they don t own a home and neither money to buy food. Even though giving a free
apartment to the homeless could seem unfair to those citizens who are working every day and don t
own so much money to live, these citizens have to think about the lack of possibilities the homeless
have living in the streets, a Care issue. So what it would be done is that they will share an apartment
with the essential needs to live and with a weekly review for their health. At the beginning care issue
is more important than fair because homeless people don t have anything to start with, so they can t
find work with their appearance, as the bosses look for people who appears good and have a stable
situation. But care issue is only temporally more important than ... Show more content on

As Gladwell explains in his book, there are three types of homeless. First, the majority of them, are
those who only are one or two days in the street, and they never come back. Then, there are the young
and drug users, the ones who come to the street for three weeks, and they return periodically in winter.
And the final ones, are the chronically homeless, who are living for a year or more, most of them old
and with a mental ill or a physically disabled. So the care issue will be done, because these people are
the ones who really need help and must have someone who takes care of them, as they have nowhere
to go and neither anything to eat, some of them with illness and

Dominant Limb
Handedness is closely associated with the term dominant arm/leg in that it refers to the limb an
individual is more comfortable using when it comes to motor skills. Research has shown the dominant
limb is stronger, faster, and more accurate in certain tasks than the non dominant limb. A couple
theories try to explain why there is this difference and the neurophysiological aspect of how it works.
The open versus closed loop hypothesis of handedness refers to the motor response from sensory
information in order to correct movements. The dynamic dominance of handedness hypothesis states
the non dominant limb is responsible for maintaining static positions or postures while the dominant
limb is in control of the path taken when the limb is moved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When comparing the 20 and 40 degree angles, the error was almost doubled in the dominant arm at 40
degrees than at 20. However, the non dominant arm did not see a significant difference. Overall, it was
seen that the non dominant arms of the subjects had better accuracy in replicating the target positions
based on proprioceptive feedback, especially when it came to larger scale movements. These findings
are similar to other research, but more is still needed to fully comprehend the difference between
dominant and non dominant limbs in regards to proprioception and sensory

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry David Thoreau s Civil...
Henry David Thoreau in his speech turned essay, Civil Disobedience, makes the case for individuals
to be self sufficient and independent. Thoreau s purpose is to illustrate the importance of those
qualities in everyday life and how someone should always keep these unwavering principles
throughout their existence. Utilizing diction, imagery and syntax, Thoreau adopts a forthright tone to
invoke independent thinking, action, and self contemplation in the American populace. Thoreau s
diction utilizes readers connotations of words and phrases to spark independent thought and
encouragement of individuals to challenge and to investigate beliefs. One such connotation is when
Thoreau discusses the government and its control over the people, comparing the government s tactics
to black arts (Thoreau 3). The phrase black arts typically refers to black magic, which is the idea of
invoking evil spirits to be used antagonistically. By using that phrase, Thoreau demonizes the
government by comparing its tactics to a fairy tale like villain, solidifying his view of the government
as purely diabolical with no redeeming qualities or factors to it. This demonization makes the
government become something seen as negative for the country. Thus, Thoreau aggressively
challenges how the government is viewed by the public and whether the fairly positive light it is given
is justified or not. Similarly, Thoreau uses the phrase a man the American government can make a
mere shadow and

The Theme of Lord of the Flies Essay
When a group of children become stranded on a deserted island, the rules of society no longer apply to
them. Without the supervision of their parents or of the law, the primitive nature of the boys surfaces.
Consequently, the boys live without luxury that could have been obtained had they maintained a
society on the island. Instead, these young boys take advantage of their freedom, and life as they knew
it deteriorates. Lord of the Flies is influenced by the author s life and experiences. Golding s outlook
on life changes, due to his heavy involvement in W.W.II, to his current philosophy that quot; The shape
of society must depend on the ethical nature of the individual, and not on any political system ... Show

A rule is made that the boys will work as a group to build the huts for protection from weather and to
act as a home for the littl uns. The boys ignore the task and become preoccupied with hunting,
swimming and eating, leaving the huts unfinished and rank. Therefore, the neglecting of the shelters is
an example of the deterioration of rules in the novel.
Deterioration is also shown when Jack alters the use of fire. The rule that Ralph, the leader, makes at
the beginning of the novel is that Jack and the other choir boys have a duty to keep the signal fire
going at all times. When a ship passes, Ralph is enraged to find that Jack let the fire burn out; Jack
breaks his promise and the rule. As a result, the boys on the island are unnoticed and fail to be rescued
by the ship; there is no fire smoke to signal it. Although the intentions of the fire are good, Jack causes
chaos when he uses it against Ralph. At the end of the novel Jack sets the whole island on fire in order
to kill Ralph. quot; They had smoked him out and set the whole island on fire quot; (Golding, p.197).
The fire that at one point symbolizes hope, has now turned to destruction. When the savage instincts
are controlled by civilization it leads to good, but when they are out of control it leads to evil. Thus,
Jack abuses the advantage of fire and his actions contribute the deterioration of rules.
The final, and perhaps the most

The Importance Of Ancient Traditions On Modern Culture
This class was extremely interesting. Being an older student, I have had the opportunity to live all over
the United States from the west coast to the east coast and many places in between, including a year
each in Germany and Hawaii. I have been exposed to many different cultures, religions, peoples,
lifestyles, and beliefs. But, this sociology class has exposed me to new ideas which is what learning is
supposed to accomplish. Three things that stood out for me is how ancient traditions are still part of
modern cultures, how some traditions within a culture may be viewed as abusive by other people, and
how defining something as deviant is not always the same as time goes by.
With the many cultures that are found throughout the world, many spanning thousands of years, it is
not unusual to find that old traditions still influence modern culture. One example of this is the
practice of Chado or the way of tea which is the ancient art of the Japanese tea ceremony that is still
performed to this day in a ceremony that can last for hours (Ancient Rituals of Japan). The Japanese
society also still celebrates many other ancient rituals and festivals, such as the Hanami Matsuri,
where families gather under the cherry trees and enjoy the beauty as the blossoms fall. Finally, the
ancient culture within the country of India, which was the birthplace of Hinduism and Buddhism
many centuries ago, still has about 84 percent of the population that are Hindu (Zimmerman). These

The Field Of Ecology And Diversity
Ecology and diversity both focus on the measurable properties of size, types, importance, disparity,
and unevenness. In the field of ecology, the understanding of diversity sophisticates with a
quantitative linguist viewing diversity as a statistical analysis. Whereas, an ecologist state s diversity
as numbered species (Jarvis, 2013). In ecology, all relationship are inversely related to diversity
(Finkel, Early, Fuller, 1998). Identifying a population is a significant step in developing a definition of
diversity and ecology. In this contribution to the definitions of ecology and diversity, Spellman and
Whiting (2007) claims that ecology constitutes an interrelationship of an organism with its
environment. The growth of these organisms may follow changes such that the population diversifies
into other measured organisms. Moreover, diversity is respective to a framework of attaining a
multicultural population of schools. The school s population prospers due to the implementation of
diverse academic disciplines and other aspects of the curriculum (Rodman, 2010). Ecology Haeckel, a
German biologist, used the term oecologie , an older spelling ecology which gives the meaning:
management of a household or management of a world of living things (Ecology, 2009). Karl Marx
contended ecology as a metabolism to social interactions with nature, explaining that there is a
necessary metabolic interaction

Persuasive Essay On Paid Family Leave
We all care about a family, we would all drop everything if they were to extremely sick out of
nowhere. The only thing that is stopping us from doing this is our work. As medicine keeps on
advancing, people will start to live longer than in the past. That would mean that we would have to be
very careful with our parents, but how are we going to take care of them if something were to happen
to them and not just the elderly but everyone that we care about. Our children, our sisters and brothers,
our uncle and aunts and cousins, who knows what could happen to all our loved ones. If we were to
get some sort of program or law that would let us be able to take care of our families, then we should
make sure that we have job protection and some sort of income that would help us out during the
tough times. We should also make sure that every person that is working has the same benefits as
every other worker in the U.S. In Lisa Belkin s article Paid Family Leave , she states that we, as a
country, should have paid family leave like many other countries around the world. It should not just
have to deal with maternity or paternity leave but it should also deal with our sick relatives. The
benefits that would come with this are good but the problem that most people have with this program
is where the money would come from and if this program were to affect everybody or just a select
handful. The benefits that come with paid family leave are good, but what comes because of those
benefits outweigh them. A lot of people have said that paid family leave in some way hurts a business
but studies have shown that because of paid family leave, workers have been more productive and
want to come back and work. Studies have shown that having some sort of program where you can
have some sort of leave has increased business productivity and it has made the employees loyal to the
company. It boosts the employee s morale, making them want to work (Chen). If you think about it, it
would make sense that people are wanting to go to work. If the company would allow this to happen,
then they would not have to care about losing their job because of a sick family member and they
could continue their work. If a family member

The Proces of Evolution
Without evolution, and the constant ever changing environment, the complexity of living organisms
would not be as it is. Evolution is defined as a process that results in heritable changes in a population
spread over many generations (8).Scientists believe in the theory of evolution. This belief is based on
scientific evidence that corroborates the theory of evolution. In Figure 1 the pictures of the skulls
depict the sequence of the evolution of Homo sapiens. As the figure shows, man has evolved from our
common ancestor that is shared by homo sapiens. The change of diet of homo sapiens over time has
thought to contribute to the change in jaw structure and overall skull shape.
The process of evolution comprises of many complex of mechanisms. These mechanisms
fundamentally allow the progression of speciation and adaptation to occur. There are 4 common kinds
of evolutionary mechanism of change: Natural Selection, Genetic Drift, Mutation and Migration.
Natural selection is based on the concept survival of the fittest where the most favourable individual
best suited in the environment survive and pass on their genes for the next generation. Those
individual who are less suited to the environment will die.
Another mechanism is a hereditable type of evolution is mutations. Mutations are alterations to a gene.
Mutation can be harmful, beneficial or neutral. Mutations are the origin of the source of genetic
diversity (9).Mutation that are harmful, hinders the chances of the

Friends was about a group of close individuals the audience wished to have. It created an atmosphere

fact that many viewers connect with the show personally in its friendships, relationships, and work
ethic, rather than just the financial aspect. The financial realism in the show is a technicality, and
should not represent its legitimacy as a cultural icon. The issue of financial security is actually
addressed in one of the episodes called The One with Five Steaks and an Eggplant, where the six
friends go to dinner and express that Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe cannot split the bill evenly due to them
not making enough money (11:30 11:40). The show also reveals the character s struggle throughout

than Michael. Now let us talk about Mr. Jackson. With just few albums i.e. 6 he is the second solo
artist to sell most No.1 of albums all around the world. Michael Jackson released albums with almost a
5 years gap and wrote most of his songs. At that time competition was so much and Michael was a
black artist so the struggles were different. Elvis reached his heyday at a different time than Michael
Jackson. He was the biggest phenomenon ever to hit the music scene in his era. With the colossal
success and impact of another cultural presence, Michael Jackson, succeeding and somewhat
occluding him. Arguably the World s first widely popular musical icon.
Michael Jackson was a talented entertainer who actually studied Elvis and greatly admired him. And,
as we also know, he married Elvis daughter Lisa Marie. Please note that during Elvis lifetime the
United States population was initially 50 million and then rose to approximately 62 million. And yet
Elvis had number one hits for three decades and his live appearance sold out concerts, from 1955

  • 2. Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and... Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and Beowulf In Paradise Lost, Milton is adept at drawing from both Christian and pagan sources and integrating them in such a way that they reinforce one another (Abrams 1075). Of course it is a commonplace for critics to believe that Milton valued his Christian sources more highly than the pagan ones (Martindale 20); this is most likely due to the fact that he regarded the Christian sources as vessels of the truth. His classical allusions, on the other hand, served as references for things fallen or damned. Thus, as seen in the invocation to Book 7 ( Descend from heav n Urania, by that name / If rightly thou art called [7.1 2]) wherein Milton places his muse Urania, the Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, I agree with John D. Niles that if this poem can be attributed to a Christian author composing not earlier than the first half of the tenth century...then there is little reason to read it as a survival from the heathen age that came to be marred by monkish interpolations (137). Just as the Beowulf poet s contemporary audience was thrown into a schizophrenic state by the pull of a pagan past against the new teachings of Christianity, the poet himself was put to task to successfully blend these religious ideologies in a complex yet effective plot that appealed to his audience precisely because they were attempting to reconcile their own beliefs. Although Beowulf most likely began as such a pagan epic, it eventually was expanded to include Christian elements, whereas Paradise Lost is definitely a Christian tale that uses classical allusions to remain connected to the epic tradition. In both tales, pagan or classical allusions, in contrast to Christian allusions, are used in reference to that which is fallen or damned. Yet I must be careful not to imply that Milton was using the Beowulf manuscript as a source because the manuscript was not available in England until 1815; therefore, Milton could not have been aware of it during the ... Each of the specific aspects of Porter s Model is next analyzed and insights are used for defining alternatives and recommendations for the strategic direction of Loblaw. Threat of Substitute Products and Retail Outlets Given the relatively high level of capitalization required to move into the Canadian retail grocery market and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) also required, these two factors combined create a formidable barrier to entry for competitors. The exceptions are the well capitalized global competitors including Carrefour and Wal Mart. Loblaw s reliance on stores as a brand, Control Label, and Customer Loyalty provide a unique mix of products which also alleviates potential conflicts with lower end retailers and their regional strengths and weaknesses. Supplier Power For Loblaw the continual improving of electronic initiatives including the adoption of the ECCNet standard and the development of more advanced support of demand planning, ERP integration of supply chain planning and execution, have given the company a defendable position with suppliers. I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay Introduction My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular and extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my potential. In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from colleagues over the last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and weaknesses, and work style and leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self assessment analysis based upon qualitative and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences and exercises during this semester. I have identified three broad themes that incorporate several subthemes representing my current abilities, preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix 1). Further, I have developed my action plan for the next semester to enhance my strengths and learn new skills, which are critical for my future career growth, to overcome my weaknesses. Self assessment Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always action and performance oriented. My print assessment shows that generally I am not fond of exhaustive planning or grueling analysis; I prefer things moving forward. I am spontaneous and able to take risks. In addition, my self confidence has a calming effect on others while at the same time mobilizing them to take action ( Paul Hertz Group | PRINT Survey | Unconscious ... Waucoba Wash Quadrangle Geologic History of Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California The Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California cross section begins with the deposition of the Cambrian layers such as the Campito Formation, Poleta Formation (upper and middle members and undivided), Harkless Formation, Saline Valley Formation (lower and upper members), Mule Spring Limestone, Monola Formation (lower and upper members), and the Bonanaza King dolomite (dominantly limestone and undivided). These Cambrian rocks are followed by rock layers from the Devonian period, thus meaning that an unconformity occurred between the layers. The Devonian dolomite rock layers include the Hidden Valley dolomite and the Lost Burro Formation (cherty dolomite). These are followed by the Mississippian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the major things noticeable from the cross section is that quite a few of the rock layers are over turned, where the older rock layers are above the newer rock layers. This is seen in the contact between the Quartz Monzonite of Papoose Flat and the Campito Formation which is also a disconformity. Next there is some fault zones separating the Camptio, Poleta, and Harkless formations. We then see some more overturned layers with the contacts between Saline Spring Valley Formation (lower and upper members) above the Mule Spring Formation along with some inferred folding. With a normal fault separating the inferred folding event, we see where the overturning occurs. In between the Cambrian layers we see Tertiary Basalt nonconformities also being folded, thus with that we know that the folding event was more recent than the formation of the Basalt. Next there is a large Basalt field with a spot of the Harkless formation. Again we see over tuning as the Basalt field ends there are the Devonian and Mississippian rock Layers on top of the basalt. Separating these overturned layers from the Harkless Formation and the Saline valley Formation (upper member), which are not overturned, is a thrust fault. From this information, there was a major stress event sometime after the Tertiary period causing the rock layers to fold and overturn. And from this stress event and from the folding, normal and thrust faults are formed. Finally we see that there were alluvial and landslide deposits from the Quaternary after the folding, faulting, and over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Case Miller V Davis Case In August 2015, the case Miller V Davis brought to light the complicated relationship between law and morality. Indeed, Mrs Davis a county clerk in Rowan county (Kentucky), is being sued for not delivering marriage licences to same sex couples as she believes that homosexuality is morally wrong. Thus, despite the fact that same sex marriage has been made legal by the U.S Supreme Court since June 2015. Ought individuals to apply the law though it is in inadequacy with their moral beliefs? Do the law should be totally free from any moral influence? Many legal scholars have argued on these questions, as well as trying to define the terms law and morality . While no one has agreed to a universal definition, law can be defined as a body of rules, whether proceeding from formal enactment or from custom, which a particular state or community recognizes as binding on its members or subjects . On the other hand, morality is referred to as an ethical wisdom , the set of common values unifying a society. This essay will discuss the role of morality in the law, while analysing different legal school of thoughts arguing on the topic. First of all, positivists such as Bentham, Austin and Hart, argued that morality should not interfere with the law as it is created by a legitimate authority. On the other hand, naturalist theorists, such as Aristotle, Fuller and Dworkin, believed in the existence of a higher law , highly influenced by morals, has to be integrated in a legal system ... • 8. Hydrogen Peroxide Reaction Lab Report The objective of the experiment is to observe how a catalyst affects the rate of the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is generally stored in a dark container because if it is exposed to UV lights and warm areas, it will begin to decompose its water and oxygen since it has an unstable oxygen to oxygen bond. The rate of the reaction can be observed by placing the solution of warm deionized water and the catalyst, liquid potassium iodide, in an erlenmeyer flask. The role of the catalyst is to speed up the reaction. After adding aqueous 3% H2O2, the flask is quickly sealed off in order to calculate the exact amount of gas released. The oxygen volume will travel up a plastic hose, into a burette filled with water. The oxygen will push the water down the burette as the hydrogen peroxide is decomposing and down another hose that leads to a syringe. By comparing the initial water volume of the burette and the final water volume, the difference determines how much oxygen volume the decomposition released. This process is repeated, however each step has a different amount of concentration. The rate law for the decomposition of hydrogen is calculated by plotting the amount of volume oxygen gas released with respect to the amount of time it took for it to ... • 13. Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion, freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. BELLINI BY ANDREW BI STUDENT NUMBER: 676025 COURSE: AVI101 MARCH 13 2015 GORDON GRAYDON MEMORIAL SECONDARY SCHOOL What is Propaganda? Art is a powerful thing. It has fueled revolutions, cultural movements, and wars. (Axelrod, 2015 Art Power in North Korea). However, when art is only a mouthpiece for the government s agenda, it ceases to be a medium for true communication. In this way, people are stripped of a powerful means for expression (Axelrod, 2015 Art Power in North Korea). This is called propaganda. Now what is propaganda, might the reader ask? Propaganda is the spread of political, philosophical, scientific, artistic, and others views and ideas with a view to their implementation (Great Soviet Encyclopedia, 2011). Propaganda has proven itself again and again to be the most decisive tool in most conflicts, as by using propaganda you are molding the minds of your people, eliminating dissent and gaining overwhelming support for anything you wish. It is once said by the famous American general Douglas A.Macarthur that One cannot wage war under present conditions without the support of public opinion, which is tremendously molded by the press and other forms of propaganda (Chicago Tribune, March 3 1942 Pg.3). Some of the biggest users of propaganda were communist countries such as the USSR, China, North Korea. But first, I d like to explain what communism is. What is Communism? ... It is an indicator shows how much bank earns as a percentage of total assets. ROAE is an indicator for return on equity. And From 2000 to 2002, the SDB s ROAA and ROAE are decreasing over time. Based on Exhibit 10 (Jin, Xuan, Bai, 2009), the average ROAA for industry peers is 0.6%, higher than SDB S ROAA, which is 0.3%. The average ROAE for industry peers is 26.8%, which is much higher than 9.1% for SDB. These data shows SDB is not a profitable bank as the profitability of both bank s total assets and average equity are lower than industry peers. Moreover, the overall financial performance of SDB is worse compare with its industry peers. Swedish scientist, Syante Arrhenius, first proposed the theory in 1896, based on earlier work by Fourier and Tyndall. At the same time, many scientists have reached the same conclusion. If we increase the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth s temperature will increase. Energy is absorbed from the sun in the form of visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The earth then releases some of this energy as infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere captures some of this heat, then re emit it in all directions. During this process, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases keep the Earth s surface 33 degree Celsius warmer than it would be without them. According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by a scientist at NASA s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8 degree Celsius. Since 1975, two thirds of the warming has occurred at a rate of roughly 0.15 0.20 degree Celsius per decade. Our lives involve the emission of theses dangerous greenhouse gases (Bushnell 25). • 19. Comparing Identity In Ratatouille, And Disney-Pixar s Identity, what is identity? Is it who we think we are? Or is it who we want to be? Perhaps it is even how others see us? My Father s Axe by Tim Winton and Disney Pixar s Ratatouille both make viewers consider the identities of the main characters and how sometimes, how society sees us or who we want to be can be in conflict with whom we really are. In Winton s short story, the protagonist tries to be a good man, good husband and a good father, but all these things he wants to be is diminishing his true self. While in the movie Ratatouille , Linguini has become a famous cook through the help of his talented little friend . • 20. Sustainable Development Within A Business Sustainable development in a business, although a widely used phrase and idea, has many different meanings and therefore provokes many different responses. Although managing the economic bottom line and protecting social and environment resources is an important aspect of sustainability, it is not the only aspect. For example, sustainability refers greatly to an accounting framework with three parts: social, environment and financial. Commonly known as the Triple Bottom Line. One business that aims to achieve this concept is Cascade Engineering. The CEO, Mark Miller (2014) considers the concept of sustainability as the three interconnected gears in motion . Each category is an interdependent, innovation enabling mechanism. Sustainability has been an often mentioned goal of business, non profits and governments in the past decade, yet measuring the degree to which an organization is being sustainable or pursuing sustainable growth can be difficult. In broad terms, sustainable development is an attempt to combine growing concerns about a range of environmental issues with socio economic issues. The widespread rise of interest in, and support for, the concept of sustainable development is potentially an important shift in understanding relationships of humanity with nature between people. It is in contrast to the dominant outlook of the last couple of hundred years, especially in the North , that has been based on the view of the separation of the environment from ... It is so difficult to find a good answer for this issue, but the most moral solution for the homeless problem is to give them a free apartment and take care of them, if they have injuries, like mental illness or addictions. This is a good resolution because they need something to start with a new life, and this solution is a good way for a new beginning, as they don t own a home and neither money to buy food. Even though giving a free apartment to the homeless could seem unfair to those citizens who are working every day and don t own so much money to live, these citizens have to think about the lack of possibilities the homeless have living in the streets, a Care issue. • 27. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry David Thoreau s Civil... Henry David Thoreau in his speech turned essay, Civil Disobedience, makes the case for individuals to be self sufficient and independent. Thoreau s purpose is to illustrate the importance of those qualities in everyday life and how someone should always keep these unwavering principles throughout their existence. Utilizing diction, imagery and syntax, Thoreau adopts a forthright tone to invoke independent thinking, action, and self contemplation in the American populace. Thoreau s diction utilizes readers connotations of words and phrases to spark independent thought and encouragement of individuals to challenge and to investigate beliefs. One such connotation is when Thoreau discusses the government and its control over the people, comparing the government s tactics to black arts (Thoreau 3). The phrase black arts typically refers to black magic, which is the idea of invoking evil spirits to be used antagonistically. By using that phrase, Thoreau demonizes the government by comparing its tactics to a fairy tale like villain, solidifying his view of the government as purely diabolical with no redeeming qualities or factors to it. This demonization makes the government become something seen as negative for the country. Thus, Thoreau aggressively challenges how the government is viewed by the public and whether the fairly positive light it is given is justified or not. The boys ignore the task and become preoccupied with hunting, swimming and eating, leaving the huts unfinished and rank. Therefore, the neglecting of the shelters is an example of the deterioration of rules in the novel. Deterioration is also shown when Jack alters the use of fire. The rule that Ralph, the leader, makes at the beginning of the novel is that Jack and the other choir boys have a duty to keep the signal fire going at all times. When a ship passes, Ralph is enraged to find that Jack let the fire burn out; Jack breaks his promise and the rule. As a result, the boys on the island are unnoticed and fail to be rescued by the ship; there is no fire smoke to signal it. Although the intentions of the fire are good, Jack causes chaos when he uses it against Ralph. At the end of the novel Jack sets the whole island on fire in order to kill Ralph. quot; They had smoked him out and set the whole island on fire quot; (Golding, p.197). The fire that at one point symbolizes hope, has now turned to destruction. • 29. The Importance Of Ancient Traditions On Modern Culture This class was extremely interesting. Being an older student, I have had the opportunity to live all over the United States from the west coast to the east coast and many places in between, including a year each in Germany and Hawaii. I have been exposed to many different cultures, religions, peoples, lifestyles, and beliefs. But, this sociology class has exposed me to new ideas which is what learning is supposed to accomplish. Three things that stood out for me is how ancient traditions are still part of modern cultures, how some traditions within a culture may be viewed as abusive by other people, and how defining something as deviant is not always the same as time goes by. With the many cultures that are found throughout the world, many spanning thousands of years, it is not unusual to find that old traditions still influence modern culture. One example of this is the practice of Chado or the way of tea which is the ancient art of the Japanese tea ceremony that is still performed to this day in a ceremony that can last for hours (Ancient Rituals of Japan). The Japanese society also still celebrates many other ancient rituals and festivals, such as the Hanami Matsuri, where families gather under the cherry trees and enjoy the beauty as the blossoms fall. The only thing that is stopping us from doing this is our work. As medicine keeps on advancing, people will start to live longer than in the past. That would mean that we would have to be very careful with our parents, but how are we going to take care of them if something were to happen to them and not just the elderly but everyone that we care about. Our children, our sisters and brothers, our uncle and aunts and cousins, who knows what could happen to all our loved ones. If we were to get some sort of program or law that would let us be able to take care of our families, then we should make sure that we have job protection and some sort of income that would help us out during the tough times. We should also make sure that every person that is working has the same benefits as every other worker in the U.S. In Lisa Belkin s article Paid Family Leave , she states that we, as a country, should have paid family leave like many other countries around the world. It should not just have to deal with maternity or paternity leave but it should also deal with our sick relatives. The benefits that would come with this are good but the problem that most people have with this program is where the money would come from and if this program were to affect everybody or just a select handful. The benefits that come with paid family leave are good, but what comes because of those benefits outweigh them. A lot of people have said that paid family leave in some way hurts a business but studies have shown that because of paid family leave, workers have been more productive and want to come back and work. Studies have shown that having some sort of program where you can have some sort of leave has increased business productivity and it has made the employees loyal to the company. It boosts the employee s morale, making them want to work (Chen). If you think about it, it would make sense that people are wanting to go to work. Evolution is defined as a process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations (8).Scientists believe in the theory of evolution. This belief is based on scientific evidence that corroborates the theory of evolution. In Figure 1 the pictures of the skulls depict the sequence of the evolution of Homo sapiens. As the figure shows, man has evolved from our common ancestor that is shared by homo sapiens. The change of diet of homo sapiens over time has thought to contribute to the change in jaw structure and overall skull shape. The process of evolution comprises of many complex of mechanisms. These mechanisms fundamentally allow the progression of speciation and adaptation to occur. There are 4 common kinds of evolutionary mechanism of change: Natural Selection, Genetic Drift, Mutation and Migration. Natural selection is based on the concept survival of the fittest where the most favourable individual best suited in the environment survive and pass on their genes for the next generation. Those individual who are less suited to the environment will die. Another mechanism is a hereditable type of evolution is mutations. Mutations are alterations to a gene.
