be quite interesting and perhaps a weakness of the film, was the sense of performative racism that four
of the main white characters utilize and how the makers of the film appeal to such a phenomenon

exhibit, one of them being blatant racism and another being subtle racism through microaggressions.

hardest. Later on when I continued with my speech I started to gain my audience s attention since I
became more confidence in my self than when I first started my presentation. I had my note card with

In Medea, the story plot is sort of told through the chorus. The group of woman and the nurse, kind of
act as Medea s conscious and tells Medea what s morally right and what s morally wrong. In a way the
chorus is inside Medea s head, yet they tell us the basic story plot and what s happening within the

Summary of Concept
The Hawthorne effect is the tendency when people are monitored, watched, or treated differently
within a setting they tend to work harder. They may change their behavior due to the attention they are
receiving from supervisors rather than manipulation of independent variables. The Hawthorne test
studies began in 1924 1933 in three stages at Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. Under the
supervision of Elton Mayo, who was an industrial research professor at Harvard University conducted
this study. The Hawthorne officials did not anticipate how long these studies would last, however, the
results found within these experiments sets them apart as a significant theory in behavior and human
relations. The Hawthorne studies are considered to be one of the most important studies in human
relations because it was the first study to introduce other factors beyond pay that can contribute to
worker productivity. Also, this study altered the common perception of employees as machines. This
research may be common knowledge in the 21st century, however, the Hawthorne studies began a
legacy of questioning and improving the relationship of attention and productivity. In 1924 the
National Research Council funded a study to see if workers would become more productive with
different levels of lighting in the factory. The researchers hypothesized that increasing factors such as

Teen pregnancy is a controversial issue that Americans are facing in society today. The problematic
behavior that comes along with teen pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon that exists on many domains.
A bulk of the teenage population is starting to believe that teen pregnancy is customary and okay. A
persons background has a lot to say about how weakly or strongly this norm is enforced. Although it is
difficult to get a full variation of pregnancy norms in high schools across the nation, the three main
aspects that influence teen pregnancy are race, religion, and social status.
It is hypothesized that social status has the highest correlation to teenage pregnancy. If a teenager s
status were to change, they would feel pressured to hold up to that new status and norm. If a teenager
were to move up in their social status, they would feel as though they would have to live up to the
expectations of that new social structure. The direction in which your social status moves determines
the rise or fall of the next generation. Questions such as why more and more women in high school are
getting pregnant are both difficult to tackle experimentally and highly charged socially. Although there
