The Desert Is No Place For A Man And Cormac Mccarthy
The desert is no place for a man and Cormac McCarthy makes that perfectly clear from the onset of
Blood Meridian. At first, it s hard to tell which will be more desolate and brutal: the environment or
the men that traverse it. However, McCarthy initially seems to establish that unbridled nature will
triumph over man every time regardless of the circumstance. If nature is God, then man is hopeless to
stand against it. Yet McCarthy makes an important distinction between nature as it exists in the wild
and nature that has been tamed by man. Although a lot of his depiction of nature comes from the
landscape, he uses animals in a telling way to prove a larger point: nature is only so powerful until it is
conquered by men. It is an obvious approach to look at the ways in which the landscape and the desert
environment domineer over the gang of men throughout the novel. Less obvious, and at the same time,
painfully overt, is the role that wild animals take within the framework of the story. The Judge is
quoted as saying that God speaks in stones and trees, the bones of things (116) and the overall
understanding of this message is that god resides in nature; the force of nature is the force of god.
This force is seen clearly the first time someone in the band is attacked by a bear. The first compelling
part in this scene is the way the men s horses react to the bear. One horse was described as falling
backward and [the Delaware] was trying to turn it, beating it about the head

Scared Scripture Analysis
Catholics differ from the bible through revelation with tradition and scriptures and how they complete
each other. Catholics also preform practices that are not explicitly found in the bible. Catholics also
believe in apostolic tradition. Catholics read the Scared Scripture in a literal sense. The literal in this
means that they find the authors intention of the passage. While other religions read it in a literalist by
reading in that what it say means what it means. So literalist will read creation stories and think that
there are actual magical fruit. While literal people will read it and think what the authors means by the
magical fruit. They will find what the fruit represents. Catholics also believe in Scared tradition

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Journeys Essay

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Song Imaginative Journey
The Beatles primarily John Lennon.
The song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , performed by The Beatles, written in the year 1967, by
John Lennon, takes the listener on a journey into the imagination. The most common interpretation of
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is that the lyrics of the song follow the journey that one would
embark on after taking the drug LSD which would project wild imaginings. Other interpretations of
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds are that Lennon had a girlfriend named Lucy and that the song is
primarily about her.. During Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , the imaginative journey emanates
throughout in which adds to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , there is a lot of imagery; these following examples make it very
easy to project the pictures of the song into the mind. Imagery is shown by lines such as cellophane
flowers of yellow and green and marmalade skies these lines give the listener a sense of being there,
and being able to see what the composer has portrayed in the song.
The second person technique combined with the technique of imagery, created by alliteration,
tangerine trees and plasticine porters which helps the description stand out, and adjectives such as
newspaper taxis .
There are some techniques that are harder to find, and be easily looked over. This is shown in the
starting line of each verse is innocent and would maybe appeal to a child s mind. For example the
newspaper taxis appearing on the shore could refer to paper boats appearing on the shore.
This text explores the journey as means of searching for something as throughout the song, the listener
is told to look for the girl with the sun in her eyes who appears difficult to find. Not until the end of
the song and, the end of the journey, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes is found. It seems that she was the
purpose of the journey into the imaginative world.
This song relates to journeys because it is believed to be an acid trip, it is a journey through John
Lennon s (the

What Is Pedagogical Content Knowledge
pedagogical content knowledge is the transformation of subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual
knowledge into a unique form, which is called the transformative model. The transformative model
implies that these initial knowledge bases are inextricably combined into a new form of knowledge,
pedagogical content knowledge, in which the parent domain may be discovered only through
complicated analysis. The resulting amalgam is more interesting and powerful than its constituent
parts (Gess Newsome, 1990).
In the integrative model, in contrast, pedagogical content knowledge does not exist as a domain of
knowledge and can be most readily explained by the intersection (Gess Newsome, 1990) of the
subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, pedagogical content knowledge is knowledge for teaching (Ball, 2008). Second, I conclude that
pedagogical content knowledge is knowledge for teaching that is a transformation of knowledge of
subject matter, knowledge of students understanding, and knowledge of pedagogy or instructional
strategies. Of these three kinds of knowledge, knowledge of subject matter is likely the most
significant constituent. For example, mathematics teachers need to know mathematics in a way that
makes them able to teach mathematics conceptually as well as procedurally. Without a profound
understanding of mathematics, mathematics teachers cannot help their students understand a
mathematical concept by providing appropriate representations of it. What is more, only when
mathematics teachers understand mathematics deeply are they capable of using and adapting their
knowledge flexibly according to the needs of their students. Knowledge of mathematics enables
mathematics teachers to provide ideas of how to present a mathematical concept in a particular way
and to explain why representations would be

Compare And Contrast Theseus And Sir Gawain
Battle of the century! Theseus versus Sir Gawain Two great heroes face off and are compared to see
who has more heroism in them. Theseus and Sir Gawain have many similarities including the way
they fight and the way their childhood was like, but those similarities also have many differences, that
s why fighting and what happened in their childhood are being compared.
Both Theseus and Sir Gawain fight with honor and strength, but also their brain. Theseus uses his wits
to defeat his opponent and use their weaknesses against them. Sir Gawain was trained by the Romans
to use strategies and maneuvers to defeat his enemies. Both strategies are effective and are proven so
in their stories. In Theseus story, he runs into a villain named ... Show more content on

In his story, Theseus dad (King Aegeus) was tricked into sleeping with a king s daughter because the
king wanted a child. Theseus existence couldn t be revealed to Aegeus brother Pallas and his 50 sons
because if they knew about Theseus they would kill him. Theseus was the only thing standing in
between Pallas s family and the throne otherwise Pallas s family would inherit the throne when
Aegeus dies. Knowing what Pallas would do he told Aethra (Theseus mother) to keep their son a
secret and tell no one including Theseus that Aegeus was his father, King Aegeus then hid a sword and
sandals for when Theseus was old enough to use it before he went home. Theseus childhood was also
unusual because his mother also slept with Poseidon the same night she slept with King Aegeus, so no
one knows whose Theseus real father. Sir Gawain s childhood was somewhat similar in the sense that
neither one knew their real father. Sir Gawain Is the son of Lot (one of King Arthur s knights) and
king Arthur s sister (Anna). Sir Gawain was born before his parents were married and it was shamed
upon to sleep with someone before being married and Anna feared that her child would be killed, so
Anna gave her child to a loyal merchant along with proof of his identity (a letter and her gold ring)
and a chest of gold. The merchant loses the child and then the man who found the child dies after

MH370 Case Study
When a magician makes a seven pound rabbit disappear, hardly anyone blinks an eye. But when a
776,000 pound jetliner disappears, On March 8th, 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight 370 disappeared from
radar during a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Beijing, China. 239 people disappeared, and
nobody knows why, the world wants answers. Some people think that the pilot intentionally crashed
the jet, but others think that it was an accident. The disappearance of flight MH370 had no human
interaction resulting in the crash. Are there reasons that the investigation has taken so long and still,
nothing has turned up? There were complications that hindered the discovery of the doomed flight.
The investigation of MH370 took scientists, (researchers / investigators) to places they had never been
before. ¨The tragedy of MH370 took scientists to places that nobody had ever seen before with any
clarity¨ (Elder 1). The investigation for MH370 was / is very complicated and the scientists were
looking in parts of the ocean that were never studied. Being that they had to explore new seafloors,
this may have put a kink in the investigation. The crash was ruled an incident by the Malaysian
authorities so that the grieving families could collect compensation for their losses. Ruled an incident

Rasipuram Krishnaswami Narayan, shortly called as R.K.Narayan is the most respected novelist

He was the Indian stock novelist, who has spent his life in the city of Mysore in South India. He came
to novel writing from journalism. His series of Malgudi, novels have put him into the forefront of Indo
Anglican literature. R.K.Narayan is much beloved by his modern readers than any other writer. He
deserves both praise and appraisal in larger and more discerning terms than he seems to have received

One day, unexpectedly the astrologer encounters with a stranger, with whom he had picked up a
quarrel and stabbed him, thinking that he had murdered. On seeing, his victim alive the astrologer felt
happy and relieved and immediately accepts, for the challenge offered by the stranger. The stranger
could not identify the astrologer because he was disguised as a real astrologer. When the astrologer
gave accurate and precise predictions about the stranger s past, the stranger was astonished, for which
the astrologer replies that he knew, as he knew many other things, but he knew nothing except the
client s past, because he was his youth friend turned enemy. The height of the ironic humor is in the
narration of the situation, where the astrologer was trapped before the stranger, who was committed to
find the whereabouts about his enemy and take revenge on him. When the stranger questions about his
present destination, there was conflict in the astrologer s mind but instantly the astrologer uses his
presence of mind and convinces the stranger, which is revealed in a more detached manner as: When
shall I get at him? he asked, clenching his first. In the next world answered the astrologer, ........You

The Pros And Cons Of Plastics In Sri Lanka

The consumption of plastic increase because there are many development project and population
rising. Plastic material growth is the innovation of newer areas that have development such as
increasing plastics applications in automobile, transportation, defense and aerospace, medical and
healthcare,electronic devices, construction and furniture.(Tandel 2015).
In Sri Lanka, manufacturing of plastic consumer products and packages and industrial polymers is a
growing industry that developed over 45 years. Currently there are about 400 companies in Sri Lanka
involved in plastic industry. In addition, significant amount of plastic enters to Sri Lanka as imported
plastic products and goods. Sri Lanka imports about 500,000 metric tons of virgin plastic in every year
according to Central Environmental Authority (CEA). Per capita consumption of plastic is about 6 kg
per annum in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the waste composition data showed that plastic waste in
municipal solid waste stream is about 5 to 15% which often ended up in dumpsite (Gunarathna 2010).

Of Mice And Men George And Lennie Friendship
Friendship is a very important thing because it can give you a feeling of like somebody really cares
and nothing else can make you feel this way. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a really good
novel. It shows you the importance of friendship. He uses the two main characters in the novel,
George and Lennie. When I think about myself, I have a lot of people that I would consider my
friends. I only have one true friend. He is loyal and I can always trust him with everything. He also
just has the simple quality of caring. Like about my decisions about certain things and I believe that
my friendship is just as strong as George and Lennie s.
One important quality that my friend has is loyalty. He supports me and my decisions. He also ...

In my friendship, we also care about each other. George and Lennie would care if something happened
to one of them and in my friendship it is the exact same. Before they go to the ranch, they camp in a
really nice spot. George really likes it so he tells Lennie Well look Lennie if you jus happen to get in
trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here and hide in the brush (Steinbeck
15). This shows that George cares about Lennie because he could just not tell him anything and not
have a plan and just leave him to get in trouble. George can leave Lennie anytime and he chooses not
to because he actually cares about him and does not want him to get hurt or in trouble. My friendship
can relate because we basically do the same thing. If something seems a little weird or wrong, we have
a plan and know what to do. We watch each other s backs because we don t want anything bad to
happen to us. There is going to be that one friend that is the one to actually care about you. They care
is something bad happens and for that you care the same. That is the last reason why I think my
friendship is just as strong as George and

Patrick Henry s Speech To The Second Convention
As Benjamin Franklin once said, They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary
safety deserve neither liberty nor safety . In Benjamin Franklin s quote is saying that if someone gives
up the necessary liberty to receive safety that means they do not deserve neither safety nor liberty.
Safety can be defined as the state of being safe; freedom from the occurrence or risk of injury, danger,
or loss. It can also be defined as the quality of averting or not causing injury, danger, or loss. In
modern day safety is prominent in the society, safety has even been questioned in today s society. The
ones who are responsible for protecting the citizens and keeping them safe have been coming under a
lot of speculation lately. In history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Patrick Henry s Speech it has a lot of good points about safety. In Patrick Henry s speech Mr.Henry
says Three million of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, in such a country as that which we
possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. This part of Mr.Henry s
speech relates to the American Ideal of Safety because it shows how the citizens were not protected
they were not given liberty. They were not given any kind of safety from their leaders they were being
killed and fought against by the people who were supposed to protect them. In a different part of
Mr.Henry s speech , he said These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to
which kings resort. This part of Mr.Henry s speech relates to the American Ideal of Safety because this
quote relates to the ideal of Safety because it shows how the people are willing to start war because of
the people that were supposed to protect them. One other part of this very famous speech closely
relates to the American Ideal of Safety. It reads Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the
world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for
us; they can be meant for no other. This closely relates to the American Ideal of Safety because it
shows how these people have came to the quarter of the world and are no longer safe. Great Britain is
treated them completely wrong they have even killed some of their own. Overall the American Ideal
of Safety can be demonstrated throught

Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill

Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality
The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of
philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some similar
outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected this
important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant,
and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I personally
prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and contrasting the
positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons why I have chosen
John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in morality.
Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from
384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle outlines the thoughts of the
general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical premises.
But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle introduces
the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the roles of
different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures and soul
pleasures.

Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It
revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill
wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters
each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else
with the actions each character takes. Ethan Frome as the title character perhaps has the most
important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and
decisions. Marriage, love and desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan Frome
as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step of his
journey from beginning to end.
To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions
are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care
for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s
volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and
magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led Ethan to a kind of
bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he was seized with an
unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay

Everyday at least one kid of the age of 18 or younger commits a crime that is way over the top for
their age range. They are committing crimes that an adult would make, but how are we supposed to
punish them? Are we just supposed to smack them on the hand and think they ll stop the nonsense or
do we punish them as adults and hope for the good? Ever since the 1990 s crime in kids has rose
tremendously and nobody knows how to stop the bar from rising. People have tried separating those

It is essential that kids get charged as adults because they are committing crimes an adult would make,
they don t stop their actions when they know they should, they know the crimes that they are doing.
So now, when a kid is killing a kid that hasn t even be able to live their whole life yet how should you
punish the kid? Putting the kid in juvenile will send them a message saying it is okay for them to kill
another kid and they will be forgiven, but when they are sent to prison with adults they will then learn
their lesson and why they should never commit a crime. All over the world at least one kid will kill
another kid everyday and you may ask what is their punishment. Well their punishment is simply don t
do that and a smack on the hand. The government needs to track down these naughty kids and stop
them before they commit a crime and the only way they will be able to do that is by giving them a
bigger punishment and changing them as adults so they learn their

In this study conducted by Megan J. Bissing Olsoni, Aarti Iyer, Kelly S. Fielding and Hannes Zacher,
a survey/diary design was used to examine the relationship of pro environmental behavior, employees
daily affect, pro environmental attitude, daily task related pro environmental behavior, and daily

The Code Of Ethics And The Police Department
Organizational climate is essential in developing a culture of incorruptible individuals and this climate
is set by the organizations leaders. Within the SCORE unit of the Kansas City, Kansas Police
Department (KCKPD) at the time of the indictment, it was not clear if leaders set a tone of ethical
conduct, nor did it appear that principled conduct was the cornerstone of the command leadership
philosophy. Specifically, all ethical standards for Kansas City Police Department are derived from
Wyandotte County Unified Government code of ethics and the police department lacks police specific
philosophies toward ethical conduct (Unified Government Ordinance, 2009). Although, the
International Chiefs of Police have established a code of honor adopted by many police departments,
it is unclear bases on empirical information what KCKPD leadership expected of their Police officers.
For instance, it is vital for executive to formulate as stated by Martin (2011), an agenda that explains
the moral purposes of the department (para. 6). Therefore, not making an ethics based agenda and
delivering a repetitive and deliberate focus on such an agenda to all levels is one failure by leadership
to have contributed to creating a perceived environment of unethical conduct. On the other hand,
senior managers cannot root out corruption without captains, lieutenants, sergeants and senior officers.

wanted me to pass the class with a grade of A or B because she knew I took a hard time learning new

another similarity they share is Escalante wants his students to have confidence in themselves and
Mrs. Aguirre told me to do my best by keeping trying. According to the movie Stand and Deliver,
Escalante states, ......Parenthesis means multiply. Every time you see this, you multiply. A negative
times a negative equals a positive. A negative times a negative equals a positive. Say it!A negative
times a negative equals a positive. Say it!. It seems like Escalante wants the students to say it out loud
with confidence, so they can remember what the problem is. When Escalante writes negative two plus
two equal on the chalkboard, he asks one of his students to say the answer to see if she or he knows
the answer. For example, he asks Angel to answer what is negative two plus two equal. Angel does not
answer, so Escalante makes him say the answer. It was similar to me when Mrs. Aguirre asked me to

Comparison Between Lift And Stack
At first glance, these three photographs are easily understood, it seems to be a village rebuilding after
a natural disaster or possibly just a normal day of work. However, there is so much more to see. For
example, the five men in red in the photograph on the far left Lift and Stack, are dressed quite
differently from the people around them. Which means to me that they came to help from either a
nearby village or, more likely in my opinion, a monastery from their attire and shaved heads. These
men seem to be loading firewood into the bed of a truck to bring to less fortunate areas, with the help
of village natives. The village in the background seems to be in better shape than the other two
photographs, which makes it even more likely that they are moving the firewood to those who are in
need.

photographer until the photographer took their picture or did something funny. Grinning from ear to
ear truly carefree unlike the adults around them, a testament of childhood innocence. Any child, even
at the worst of times can find light in the dark. This trait is lost as we grow, I believe the photographer
wanted to catch true light on camera to share with the world. These three photos belong together not
only because they were taken in the soma area, but because they tell the story of triumph in the face of

Charles Dickens Hard Times
May 1, 2015
Mr. Johnson
Literature
Dickens Calls for Desperate Measures in Hard Times I want to change the world. How many times is
that line heard from small children, aspiring to be someone who achieves their maximum potential? If
a child is asked how they might go about doing so they might respond with an answer that involves a
superhero or princess who helps people for the greater good. As one grows and adapts to their
surrounding society, the art of seeing the big picture including its flaws is often lost. This is because
there is no hope of changing new philosophies or ideas that have taken over the world, even if they re
wrong. There was a man, however, who never lost the instinctual calling to change the world when it
needed changing. Using his own weapon of a pen, Charles Dickens wrote the fictional novel Hard
Times to warn people of the world they were living in and inspire them to change it. Through the
novel, Hard Times, Charles Dickens reflects the many matters that are in need of managing in his
present society. He illustrates the movement of the societal dystopia through the interaction of morally
lost characters and their demanding surroundings. He addresses many controversial issues, but the
most prevalent are the flaws in the class system, utilitarianism and the detrimental effects of
industrialization. Set in the grim Victorian industrial city of Coketown, this societal branch of northern
England falls under the influences of the

Budget Analysis Essay
Budgeting Assignment
A company s budget serves as a guideline in planning and committing costs in order to meet tactical
and strategic goals. Tactical goals such as providing budgetary costs for daily operations, and strategic
objectives that include R D, production, marketing, and distribution are all part of the budgeting
process. Serving as a guideline rather than being set in stone, the budget is a snapshot of manager s
best thinking at the time it is prepared. (Marshall, 2003, p.496) The budget is a method in which to
reign in discretionary spending, and will likely show variances between what costs have been
anticipated and what costs are actually incurred.
The Budget Process
Budgetary planning may differ between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
• Forecasts for operating expenses.
• Income, cash, and balance sheet budget statement forecasts. (p.498)
The budget process may start with a sales forecast that describes expected revenues from groups of
products. (p. 485) Total revenues can be calculated based on a number of factors that include both the
product markup as well as a fluctuating commodity price.
As a first step in the budget process, sales forecasting allows for other budgets to be planned on sales
activities. Purchases and production, for example, depend on the forecasted sales and subsequent
inventory levels to be managed. The operating expenses are then budgeted as a result of the sales
budget and expected costs of purchasing and production (materials, labor, manufacturing) as a
measure of Cost of Good s Sold.
The budgeted income statement, cash flows, and balance sheet follow in order. The income budget
relies on the revenue and expense forecast from the operating budget, while the budget cash flows are
planned for financial and investment activities. A final component of the budget process, the projected
balance statement, can be used to tie in all the budgeting dependencies. Once a budget has been
prepared, evaluation can be expected before approval. Budgetary components may require several
iterations before finalizing the organizational budget.
Budgetary Assumptions
There are many assumptions that planners, economists, and managers can make

Mexican Men In The Bracero Jigsaw
The U.S. Government historically oppressed Latino Immigrants through exploitation of Mexican men
during the Bracero program, and discrimination through arbitrary sterilization of Latino women.
Mexican men were sent to U.S. to work as a remedy of the WWII and were mistreated and exploited
in the process. In the Bracero Jigsaw, the first reading explains that the Bracero program, signed in
1942 between Mexican and American governments, was created because the demand of the farm
works increased as a consequence of the WWII, this program allowed Mexican men to work in U.S.
with a legal permission, also was an opportunity for the U.S. Government to hire cheap labor. The
Bracero program was supposed to benefit Mexican and American people, however, the Mexican men
were exploited, sent to work in conditions that could affect their health. Miserable jobs that gave real
meaning to the term backbreaking labor. The work was done with instruments of horror... [that]
required the user to work in a bent over position and crawl along the dusty rows of beets for ten or
twelve hours a day ( Bracero Jigsaw ). Those workers were exploited working in an unsafe
environment. They had working days that would be unthinkable today, work in those conditions made
them more likely to suffer intense back pain and illness related to the long exposure to the sun. Also,
every workplace must guarantee fair working hours per day. Currently, a complete labor day must be
eight hours any extra time it must be

The Nigerian foreign exchange market; rate determination; control and prospects for Naira
convertibility
Good morning members of the high table, my colleagues in the industry and all other distinguished
guests. It is my greatest pleasure to present this paper at the Foreign Exchange seminar organized by
the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. I hope I am able to shed light on this extremely
challenging topic.
Definition:
The foreign exchange market can be defined as the collective activity of exchanging currencies i.e.
where currencies are bought and sold. The price for the currency is known as the exchange rate.
This is one unique market that is not located anywhere but exists on electronic platforms telephones,

The Free funds market is also known as the Transfer or Convertible market: This market has been
promoted by the strict controls that exist in the official market and the transparency issue on duties. It
has been said that this market provides support for the management of the duty applied on goods
imported.
The forex for all prohibited goods brought into the country may also have this market as its source. It
is a widely held opinion that the substantial part of the supply to this market is sterilized official funds.
Most foreign exchange earners (with low corporate/individual compliance commitments) supply funds
to this market because of its higher rates i.e. premium over the official sources and confidentiality. The
premium that obtains here is primarily due to the absence of documentation.
The Cash/Travelers cheque (TC) market: This is the easiest of the markets to access. It commands the
highest premium due to the speed and guarantee of delivery offered. The cash market is the street
market mostly found around the international airports, hotels and major markets. (In Lagos Tejuosho,
Akerele, Ikeja)
Rate determination in the Nigerian forex market
As with other markets the interplay of demand and supply dictate the price.
Demand supply: This simply says the higher the demand (over supply) the higher the price. If the

Socrates Views On Plato s Dialogue
In Plato s dialogue Crito, Socrates is awaiting his execution in prison when his friend Crito comes to
convince him to escape. Socrates argues against Crito with his belief being that escaping from prison
would by an unjust act. It is Socrates belief that you should never commit an injustice act for any
reason, and that it is in your best interest to act justly. In the arguments presented in Crito, we see
Socrates belief as underlying factor and recurring theme. Crito goes to see Socrates and starts by
letting him know that he cares about him, then proceeds to spew out all of his arguments. The first
argument brought up was that he will ruin the reputation of his friends and family. His reasoning being
that if people saw Crito and knew that he let Socrates die, he would be seen as a selfish and avaricious
person. Secondly, Crito explains that he already bribed the guards and that he will set Socrates up in
another city. There he can live freely, keep philosophizing, and be with friends and family. He then
argues that Socrates would be self contradicting by accepting his sentence instead of putting up a
heroic fight for what he believes in. Crito claims that this would be an act of cowardice, the opposite
of what Socrates had always taught. The next point presented is that he would be bad for abandoning
his children. His last argument is that it would be morally wrong for Socrates to accept and cooperate
with Athenian law if the Athenian law wrongfully accused him and

Acute kidney injury have developed in 33% of patients suffering from this skeletal muscle syndrome
(Torres et. al, 2015). Skeletal muscle tissues release toxins that can cause buildup within the kidneys.
The large amount of toxins that were accumulated within the kidneys are serum creatine kinase,
creatinine, potassium, and calcium as well as myoglobin (Chatzizisis et. al, 2008). The accumulation
of myoglobin is nephrotoxic to the kidneys. Hypovolemia is another factor that leads to renal hypo

A Research on Team and Group Communication Processes
Team and Group Communication Processes:
The systematic description on the nature of the processes of communication in several areas including
businesses and organizations is known as communication theory. Organizations and businesses are
required to understand the concept of communication theory because the achievement of
organizational and business goals is dependent on effective communication. Communication theory
focuses on examining the process of transmitting information from the sender to the receiver.
Furthermore, communication theory analyzed the various means for transfer of information from one
medium to the other. As people across the globe have been working with several communication
theories, these theories provide an abstract understanding of the process of communication.
A theoretical explanation of communication processes is usually provided when professionals across
various fields talk about their communication strategies, types, and effectiveness (Dainton, 2004). In
the healthcare sector, primary health care team members and other caregivers or service providers are
usually required to communicate effectively with one another in order to enhance the quality of
service. This is largely because there is a direct relationship between communication and team or
group effectiveness.
Team and Group Communication Processes in the Healthcare Field: According to current theories on
teamwork, groups or teams work more effectively when all members actively

The Legacy Of Jackson Pollock
One cannot hear the name, Jackson Pollock without instantly thinking of the words abstract, radical,
and expressionist. His legacy that he left behind is one to admire, with his skills of detaching line from
color, refining categories of drawing and painting, and finding new means to describe pictorial space.
(Jackson Pollock and His Paintings)
Jackson Pollock s life began in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, Leroy was a farmer and later in
life became a surveyor for the government. Because of his father s job as a government surveyor,
Pollock was able to travel to many places with his father, even experiencing some Native American
culture with which he attributes some of his art pieces to. When Pollock got older he enrolled himself
at the Students League in New York in 1929. He studied here under the hands of regionalist painter,
Thomas Benton. During this time, Pollock created mostly realist modern American art with influences
coming from Mexican muralist painters and surrealist. It was not until 1939, while visiting The
Museum of Modern Art in New York City that Pollock changed his art style. Within this museum was
an exhibit called, Picasso: 40 Years of His Art that had over 300 works of art in addition to his anti war
morals. This led Pollock to the realization and admiration of the power of European modernism. This
realization created his new style of semi abstract totemic works.
When WWII ended, its aftermath fueled the style of radical, abstract expressionism

  • 2. The Desert Is No Place For A Man And Cormac Mccarthy The desert is no place for a man and Cormac McCarthy makes that perfectly clear from the onset of Blood Meridian. At first, it s hard to tell which will be more desolate and brutal: the environment or the men that traverse it. However, McCarthy initially seems to establish that unbridled nature will triumph over man every time regardless of the circumstance. If nature is God, then man is hopeless to stand against it. Yet McCarthy makes an important distinction between nature as it exists in the wild and nature that has been tamed by man. Although a lot of his depiction of nature comes from the landscape, he uses animals in a telling way to prove a larger point: nature is only so powerful until it is conquered by men. It is an obvious approach to look at the ways in which the landscape and the desert environment domineer over the gang of men throughout the novel. Less obvious, and at the same time, painfully overt, is the role that wild animals take within the framework of the story. The Judge is quoted as saying that God speaks in stones and trees, the bones of things (116) and the overall understanding of this message is that god resides in nature; the force of nature is the force of god. This force is seen clearly the first time someone in the band is attacked by a bear. The first compelling part in this scene is the way the men s horses react to the bear. One horse was described as falling backward and [the Delaware] was trying to turn it, beating it about the head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second person technique combined with the technique of imagery, created by alliteration, tangerine trees and plasticine porters which helps the description stand out, and adjectives such as newspaper taxis . There are some techniques that are harder to find, and be easily looked over. This is shown in the starting line of each verse is innocent and would maybe appeal to a child s mind. For example the newspaper taxis appearing on the shore could refer to paper boats appearing on the shore. This text explores the journey as means of searching for something as throughout the song, the listener is told to look for the girl with the sun in her eyes who appears difficult to find. Not until the end of the song and, the end of the journey, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes is found. It seems that she was the purpose of the journey into the imaginative world. • 5. What Is Pedagogical Content Knowledge pedagogical content knowledge is the transformation of subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual knowledge into a unique form, which is called the transformative model. The transformative model implies that these initial knowledge bases are inextricably combined into a new form of knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, in which the parent domain may be discovered only through complicated analysis. The resulting amalgam is more interesting and powerful than its constituent parts (Gess Newsome, 1990). In the integrative model, in contrast, pedagogical content knowledge does not exist as a domain of knowledge and can be most readily explained by the intersection (Gess Newsome, 1990) of the subject matter, pedagogical, and contextual knowledge. ... Second, I conclude that pedagogical content knowledge is knowledge for teaching that is a transformation of knowledge of subject matter, knowledge of students understanding, and knowledge of pedagogy or instructional strategies. Of these three kinds of knowledge, knowledge of subject matter is likely the most significant constituent. For example, mathematics teachers need to know mathematics in a way that makes them able to teach mathematics conceptually as well as procedurally. Without a profound understanding of mathematics, mathematics teachers cannot help their students understand a mathematical concept by providing appropriate representations of it. What is more, only when mathematics teachers understand mathematics deeply are they capable of using and adapting their knowledge flexibly according to the needs of their students. • 12. Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill Chelsea Kearney PHIL 231: Ethics 28 April 2015 Essay 2 Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some similar outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected this important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I personally prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and contrasting the positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons why I have chosen John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in morality. Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from 384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle outlines the thoughts of the general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical premises. But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle introduces the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the roles of different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures and soul pleasures. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else with the actions each character takes. Ethan Frome as the title character perhaps has the most important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and decisions. Marriage, love and desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan Frome as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step of his journey from beginning to end. To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay ... Within the SCORE unit of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) at the time of the indictment, it was not clear if leaders set a tone of ethical conduct, nor did it appear that principled conduct was the cornerstone of the command leadership philosophy. Specifically, all ethical standards for Kansas City Police Department are derived from Wyandotte County Unified Government code of ethics and the police department lacks police specific philosophies toward ethical conduct (Unified Government Ordinance, 2009). Although, the International Chiefs of Police have established a code of honor adopted by many police departments, it is unclear bases on empirical information what KCKPD leadership expected of their Police officers. As a first step in the budget process, sales forecasting allows for other budgets to be planned on sales activities. Purchases and production, for example, depend on the forecasted sales and subsequent inventory levels to be managed. The operating expenses are then budgeted as a result of the sales budget and expected costs of purchasing and production (materials, labor, manufacturing) as a measure of Cost of Good s Sold. • 28. Socrates Views On Plato s Dialogue In Plato s dialogue Crito, Socrates is awaiting his execution in prison when his friend Crito comes to convince him to escape. Socrates argues against Crito with his belief being that escaping from prison would by an unjust act. It is Socrates belief that you should never commit an injustice act for any reason, and that it is in your best interest to act justly. In the arguments presented in Crito, we see Socrates belief as underlying factor and recurring theme. The first argument brought up was that he will ruin the reputation of his friends and family. His reasoning being that if people saw Crito and knew that he let Socrates die, he would be seen as a selfish and avaricious person. Secondly, Crito explains that he already bribed the guards and that he will set Socrates up in another city. There he can live freely, keep philosophizing, and be with friends and family. He then argues that Socrates would be self contradicting by accepting his sentence instead of putting up a heroic fight for what he believes in. Crito claims that this would be an act of cowardice, the opposite of what Socrates had always taught. The next point presented is that he would be bad for abandoning his children. His last argument is that it would be morally wrong for Socrates to accept and cooperate with Athenian law if the Athenian law wrongfully accused him and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Skeletal muscle tissues release toxins that can cause buildup within the kidneys. The large amount of toxins that were accumulated within the kidneys are serum creatine kinase, creatinine, potassium, and calcium as well as myoglobin (Chatzizisis et. al, 2008). The accumulation of myoglobin is nephrotoxic to the kidneys. Hypovolemia is another factor that leads to renal hypo perfusion (Chatzizisis et. al, 2008). Baywater and Beall first discovered how Rhabdomyolysis induce acute renal failure in 1941 after following the progress of 4 victims had developed acute renal failure in London in 1940. Some decades later, they found out that nephrotoxic effect from myoglobin was released by muscle cells and was responsible for ruptured muscle cells (Chatzizisis et. al, 2008).
