Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks for Communication and Exchange.
4.1 The degree of global interconnection greatly increased after 1500 CE at which point it started to
include the Americas, and parts of the world it had not before. BEfore this time period the globe was
only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one another
everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more prominent and
new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of water based trade
and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world.
4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes only in
that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade routes started to
get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the Europeans did not travel
on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation and trade that took them to
another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large impact on the pre existing trade
routes in the world.
4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and maps
made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. This is because the new developments
made it easier to travel for longer periods of time and it was easier to get where someone needed to be
without getting lost.

Jazz Music Research Paper
Of all the arts that took place in the United States, Jazz is well thought out as America s first original
art form. Since its beginning in the 20th century, Jazz music is defined by chronicle changes. Almost
every decade a new essence enhanced the movement, and by the 1940 s jazz had developed into a
mature, complex form of music, with many nuances and avenues for unceasing changes.
Jazz appeared in New Orleans in the early twentieth century. It is the product of miscegenation
between the culture of American black people from slavery, and European culture imported by the
colonists. In the early 1910s, New Orleans Jazz began combining ragtime and blues with
improvisation. In 1930, the swing era emerged followed by Bebop in 1940 where jazz shifted ... Show

First, the traditional artist performs jazz based on bebop, swing, blues and hard bop. They dismiss free
jazz and fusion. These artists consider that they play real jazz, not the diverse hybrids and adds on that
aroused since 1960. One of the most important artists of this movement is the trumpeter Wynton
Marsalis, who played a major role in the reappearance of jazz.
Second, the contemporary mainstream artists are mainly influenced by hard bop. Although they use
Hard Bop instrumentation and musical forms, contemporary mainstream artists try to push the music
further. They increase technical proficiency on their instruments, they expand musical harmonies
using more difficult chords and complex chords progression and they express deeper and varied
emotions. The trumpeter Terence Blanchard is today s most important contemporary mainstream jazz
artist.
Third, as their name indicates, anything goes jazz artists mix up all kind of music. Their music can
include all styles of jazz, blues, rock, Latin, classical, popular, hip hop... The saxophonist Dave
Liebman and the trumpeter Dave Douglas are two important anything goes artists.
Another thing that is specific to today s jazz is the variation in the

Pulp Fiction Film Review
When giving a film and evaluation it is obvious that acting, setting and plot would fit in every gender,
however to evaluate a crime movie the expectations and feedback changes. Crime movies are known
for having a flexible plot that allows mystery and tension build up, characters and acting that will
maintain their role alive and transfer emotions and dialog that stays clear and understandable. Writing
that is able to keep the audience concentrated through long dialogs and it also has its unexpected
twists. There are other basic requirements for example: camerawork, costume design and sound
editing. Only a few movies have had the privilege to this day be considered works of art in the ...

Writing that is able to keep the audience concentrated through long dialogs and it also has its
unexpected twists it s a key part. Crime movies often move slowly, they build up suspense and
situations and they give you a bone here and there so you don t get bored and stay until the climax of
the story. Pulp Fiction is unique, it s wonderfully written so each line fits on the designated actor. The
story continues on and on with always interesting dialogs. The story takes its wild turns, one more
unexpected than the last one. Moments that will take you by surprise are bound to happen. The writing
is really fluent in the sense that in each individual scene there s so much to like, and the best part of it,
is the fact that none of the direction or the writing ever seems forced, but quite natural. The movie
won t feel rushed out, it takes times for discussions to go through, the dialog aren t always attached to
what the whole idea of the movie. For example; Vincent and Jules having a discussion about what a
TV pilot just seems like a regular conversation between two guys but it doesn t lose interest as it
progress, it s just interesting. Just like the writing Quentin Tarantino also directed the movie and like
the writing, he gives everything its time. The way the movie is shot is quite interesting. In most

The Importance Of Exceptive Leadership
Society benefits from effective leadership. However, effective leadership is not inherent to most
people and requires development. As Ross Perot states Lead and inspire people...Inventories can be
managed but people must be lead (Anderson, 2013). Exceptional leadership goes beyond a role of
power. James Hunter writes in his successful book The Servant, that leadership is influence and all
people are capable of leadership by the influence that they transmit into the world (2012). The role of
doctoral prepared nurse practitioners extends beyond the confine of employee. The expanse of the
nurse practitioner role includes leadership within the clinical, community, and national setting. As
Hunter proclaims, everyone is a leader, including nurses. Therefore, it is imperative that nurses are the
exceptional leaders that society benefits from. The following is a compendium of leadership topics
valuable to building awareness and competency as a nurse leader. The intention for this compendium
is for the author to demonstrate understanding of the eleven identified leadership topics by review of
the literature. This paper will explore the many facets of leadership and their applications with a focus
on the nurse practitioner role. Critical points of leadership skills, qualities, and challenges will be
examined for each topic.

The Science Of Shopping By Gladwell s Article
For generations, Americans has been brainwashed by the media to believe that what is displayed on
television is the ideal perception of what real beauty have manipulated American citizens of what style
looks like. Furthermore, with their many brainwashing strategies, that means more and more
consumers spending beyond their budget. Our perspectives have been heavily influenced by what they
believe is nice, but can we afford it all? With unrealistic combination of goods in store, plazas, and
mall, consuming has become a bad behavior of some. In support of my argument of the Overspending
, author Gladwell s article The Science of Shopping also argues that stores adjust to fit the needs and
wants of the shopper are evidently presented. With that being said, we have no idea when we are being
manipulated into unrealistic shopping behavior that is influenced by the way the advertisement is
presented in visual sight. Author Gladwell gets a retail anthropologist and urban geographer named
Paco Underhill to give breakdown points of how he helps brand name stores influence consumers into
persuasion of buying more. However, most of us fall short of that discipline, while being persuaded to
overspend during our store visits. While reading Science of Shopping article by Malcolm Gladwell, he
brings readers into the world of a man that study been studying the patterns of shoppers for over
fifteen years, which is Paco Underhill. Before reading Gladwell s article, I knew of such

FINA 3088 Case Study 1 Chase s Strategy for Syndicating the Hong Kong Disneyland Loan (A) (B)
Bid Strategy of the First Round
The first round bid was to show its commitment and price, while detailed proposal would be submitted
after being shortlisted. Thus, Chase had mainly three kinds of concern at that stage: risk, profit and
reputation.
Reputation
From Exhibit 6, there is no doubt that Chase was the top bank in syndicated finance in the US and
over the world. However, it recorded limited performance in Asian market though Chase had put
numerous resources into its global group. At the same time, Chase was among Disney s top
relationship banks and Disney as well as its project in Hong Kong had a noticeable market signal. ...

Although Chase argued that this term is rarely invoked and in Asia they have never invoked it, Disney
was paying for a fully underwritten deal expressly to avoid syndication risk, especially the amount of
the loan. If the syndication amount suddenly changes in the economy crises, it may bring serious
trouble to the Disney s operation and financial stability. At the same time, if the price were to increase
dramatically, it would be a high burden for Disney to pay the interest.
Since Disney is one of the large clients, Chase may have to do some amendments to smooth the
negotiation process. As chase, to remove or alter the rights to change the amount of the syndication
may be acceptable as most of the loan have been assigned to other banks. However, some flexibility in
terms of the pricing must be guaranteed to ensure the profitability of Chase in some certain economy
downturn.
Syndication Strategy for the loan
We now discuss the syndication strategy in terms of the following components:
Number of Tiers fewer tiers
It can be argued that more tiers can increase the number of banks to involve, thus

Bilingual Education and Native Language Maintenance
According to Ethnologue (Grimes, 1996) cited in Purwo, K. (2000), there are 6703 languages in the
world. The distribution of those languages is in sequence Asia 2,165 or 32%, Africa 2,011 or 30%, the
pacific 1,302 19%, The Americas 1,000 or 15% and Europe 225 or 3% . Asia becomes the continent

particularly, Indonesia is the second most living languages in the world, after Papua Nugini. Indonesia
according to Grimes (1992) cited in Purwo, k. (2000) is reported to have 706 languages while Papua

Jaya. A number of the languages in the world are in danger if there is no effort to maintain the
language. UNESCO reported that 10 languages are dead every year . Purwo further explains that in
Australia in 18 centuries, there were 250 languages and today, there are only 20 languages left. A
language can exist if the speakers of the language are more than 100,000 people. If we consider this
condition, in Indonesia, there are 109 languages, not Java, which have less than 100,000 speakers.
Those languages spread in Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Maluku, and NTT. In
Lampung, according to Gunawan (1994) cited in Purwo, K. (2000) there are 1,500,000 speakers of

Bolivia s Yungas Road is the world s deadliest road. Also known as the road of death (surprise), this
road winds around a mountain and makes it incredibly easy for cars to drive off of it without even
realizing it. About 200 people die on this road every year. Number Sixteen: Deadliest Armpits. The
slow loris has a strange way of defending itself. Instead of attacking like many animals do, the slow
loris raises its arms and shoves its fingers into its armpits. Its armpits contain a poison that the loris
rubs on its teeth before biting its predators. Number Fifteen: Deadliest Dentist. Glennon Engleman is
the deadliest dentist. He killed seven people over the course of three decades, and he did it all just for
cash. Number Fourteen: Deadliest Ground Attack Plane. The Warthog plane has a gun that can fire
4,100 rounds every minute. And let s not forget that it can carry up to 16,000 pounds of other deadly
weaponry. Number Thirteen: Deadliest Fishing

The Green Revolution Was A Period Of Technological...
The Green Revolution was a period of technological innovation in agriculture between the years 1943
and the 1970s. It was due to food becoming inadequate, and economic life became primitive and
inactive. This was a time where disease ravaged, conditions were horrible, and hunger was common.
Positively, the Green Revolution caused an increase in food supply, expansion into new technology,
and provided social mobility. On the flip side, it also caused the necessity for more labor, and
increased the need for cash incomes. The Green Revolution caused new changes in social structure.
The caste system was slowly being demolished, as the new increase in food production allowed
peasants to be able to advance to the middle and upper classes

Leonardo Fibonacci Research Paper
Leonardo Fibonacci was one of the greatest mathematicians to contribute to the math in the western
world we know of today. Often referred to as Fibonacci , he was considered to be the most talented
Western Mathematician of the middle ages.
Born to Guglielmo Bonacci of Pisa, a wealthy Italian merchant in 1170, Fibonacci travelled with him
as a young boy. It was in Buga (now known as Bejaia, Algeria) that Fibonacci learned about the Hindu
Arabic numeral system.
In 1202, a book called the Liber Abaci (Book of Albacus or Book of Calculation) was birthed from the
many merchants that Fibonacci learned systems of arithmetic from as he travelled the mediterranean
coast. This popularized the Hindu Arabic numerals in Europe.

Examples include the Brahmagupta Fibonacci identity, the Fibonacci search technique, and the Pisano
Period. Beyond mathematics, namesakes of Fibonacci include the astroid 6765 Fibonacci and the art
rock band, The Fibonaccis.
Furthermore, Fibonacci s contributions even though not as revolutionary as other scholars, made
ripples in the mathematics world. While Fibonacci spent time with Fredrick II, he dedicated his Liber
quadratorum (Book of Square Numbers) to Fredrick. Devoted entirely to Diophantine equations of the
second degree (containing squares) the Liber quadratorum is considered Leonardo s most creative
work was in congruent numbers numbers that give the same remainder when divided by a given
number.
Leonardo Fibonacci s achievements and his shortcomings all came to a stop when his success of a life
ended in the estimated period of time between 1240 and 1250. It is also estimated that his death took
place in Pisa, Italy.
Except for his role in spreading the use of the Hindu Arabic numerals, Leonardo s contribution to
mathematics has been largely overlooked. Thankfully, his contributions are available to the wester

Introduced Species In Australia
An introduced species is a species that has arrived a new habitat, outside of its native distributional
range, by human activity. However, an introduced species can sometimes pose very serious problems
to the local ecosystem and require a lot of work and money to manage the issue. This report focus on
two main introduced species, the feral water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and the European red foxes
(vulpes vulpes) which are both introduced into Australia in the 19th century. The consequences of the
introduction of these species and the way of management and recovery of the ecosystem are the main
topic of this report. The main methodology for this article is desktop research with the help of

Since the water buffaloes has caused such dramatic effect on the ecosystem and also spread the
disease in Kakadu national part, a extensive eradication program called Brucellosis and Tuberculosis
Eradication Campaign (BTEC) was initiated to reduce the population of water buffaloes (Jesser et al.
2008). This program was performed by aerial shooting from the helicopter. By then end of 1997, the
number of water buffaloes has reduced from around 20000 to only a few hundred left in the Kakadu
National Park. This sudden decline in water buffaloes numbers caused significant changes in
vegetation ground cover and biomass (Petty et al. 2007). However, weed (Mimosa pigra) control and
ongoing removal of buffaloes were required to rehabilitate the original ecosystem (Findlayson et al.
1997). The impact of buffaloes on ground level vegetation and soils in Kakadu National Park has
indirectly changed the living pattern such as the competitive relationships between plants and animals,
which, in turn, further altered the overall ecological structure of Kakadu. Thus, it was not enough to
revert the habitat to its previous state by simply removing the buffaloes. According to Petty and his
colleagues work in 2007, The impact of increase

Going back to chapter 1, millions of cats and dogs are euthanized a year and endure being stray. These
high numbers are mostly because of a big litter that was unplanned. Removing a pet s reproductive
organs is a great way to battle animal overpopulation. The price of spaying or neutering has a range of
about $45 $175. That is not too much relative to caring for a whole litter of kittens or puppies. There
are other great reasons to spay and neuter animals besides the fact that it doesn t contribute to
overpopulation. For instance, spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer, which is fatal
in about 50 percent of dogs and 90 percent of cats. (pets.webmd.com) In summary, one easy, cost

Minority Report Essay
But Minority Report attempts so much more. It brings a spiritual angle into the story with calculated
deliberation. And that angle is the issue of predetermination versus free will, as
Anderton himself admits in the movie. A Detective from the U.S. Justice Department, Ed
Witwer, played by Colin Farrel, shows up to investigate the effectiveness of the precogs and to search
for the human error inherent in any such endeavor. He is sure there is such a weakness because as he
says, these are humans and humans can be wrong. Witwer is already convinced that the future cannot
be certain, therefore Pre Crime is not foolproof. It turns out that Witwer is an ex student of Fuller
Theological Seminary who got out of religious training to fight crime. He ... Show more content on

In fact, Witwer points out that it doesn t matter how accurate oracles are, people make oracles out of
others even if there aren t any. Man is by nature religious and he constructs religious content to
explain otherwise unexplained natural phenomena. This is decidedly demythologization.
Demythology is a modernist western prejudice of the naturalistic worldview. Naturalism assumes by
faith that there is no transcendent spiritual aspect to reality. Everything has natural causes. All spiritual
beliefs are simply ignorant misinterpretations of natural causes into spiritual forces; wish fulfillment.
Demythology is the attempt to purge the mythic ignorance of a belief to discover the true natural
cause. This is a continuation of a theme that Spielberg explored in much more detail in his rendition of
Stanley Kubrik s A.I.2 This evolutionary worldview tries to redefine man as a being who constructs or
projects his own meaning of God and spirit onto what is actually a meaningless universe of matter in
motion. The belief in the afterlife is merely an extension of the evolutionary survival of the fittest. As
the originator of the precogs tells Anderton, When the chips are down,

Individualistic Government By Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau believes that in a government that is ruled by the majority vote, or the majority
rule, the government itself is answering to the requests of the strongest group, and in most cases, the
strongest group is not the group with the best intentions, in terms of virtue or thoughts. Thoreau
describes the majority [of the governed] ... [are not] most likely to be right... but they are physically
the strongest. He believes that the majority have their requests answered due to their strength. Shortly
after, he discusses the idea of a government ruling by conscience and not through their own decisions
of right and wrong. Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to
the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects
afterwards. Thoreau debates the idea of following what we believe is right, through our conscience,
rather than blindly following the law. I agree with Thoreau in this aspect, why should we blindly
follow rules that we know are morally unjust? Thoreau begins his piece of literature with his accepted
motto, That government is best which governs least. There is a term called individualistic culture ,
which is defined to mean a culture that looks to government to maintain a stable society but with
minimum intervention in the lives of the people. Thoreau believes that the best kind of government is
the kind that governs the least number of people, supporting this

Stages Of Grief
Sooner or later, everyone will experience loss; it s an inevitable part of life. Whether it s losing a
relationship, a job, or even more tragic a loved one, no one can escape it. A very important part of
bearing with a loss is grieving. There are five stages in which grief can be categorized in: denial,
anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. In Seamus Heaney s Mid term Break , and the
narrator and his family bear with the loss of a loved one. In Sylvia Path s The Jailer the narrator goes
through the painful and significant loss of her marriage. In both poems the characters affected by the
loss of something important to them and go through the stages of grief differently, proving, that grief
is unique for every person.

The narrator starts his grieving path in denial. The narrator states I sat all morning in the college sick
bay giving the description of him sitting all morning in doing nothing at all (line 1). He was not
crying, he was not talking to anyone he just sat there staring into the air. Another detail that shows that
the narrator is in denial is when he states the ambulance arrived / with the corpse (14 15). It is a very
cold thing to say because it s his little brother in the ambulance not just a strange, and he just refers to
him as a corpse. Further explaining that he is in denial because he cannot believe it s his brother. The
father in the poem is one of the best examples of how everyone deals with grief in a different way. The
narrator explains that as soon as he got home he saw his father in tears and how strange it was for his
father to cry especially in funerals. The narrator then states, [My father] had always taken funerals in
his stride meaning that funerals never really bothered his father (5). The way the narrator s mother
reacts to the death of her four year old son, further supports the fact that everyone grieves differently.
When the narrator introduces his mother in the poem he states, [She] coughed out angry tearless sighs
(13). In the contrary from the narrator s father, the narrator s mother is not even shedding a tear.

actions perpetrated against them. The past is not easily forgotten and asking these people to keep
peace may have been indignation. It was essentially as if they were telling the Native Americans not to
fight back in the event of an attack which surely made them feel powerless. The previous
correspondence would imply that the Continental Congress pursued Native American welfare only
when it did not hinder their strategy with Britain, but the concern for their potential allies grew as their
resources dwindled. The colonists that yearned for a new place in the world realized they could not
accommodate the needs of Native Americans and took the advice of Colonel Daniel Broadhead, an
officer in the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment, and requested their presence. It would have been easier to
brush the Native Americans aside during this time, especially with the impending Revolution

The Oil Sands Of Alberta

Thilakxshan 130937440 I. INTRODUCTION The Oil Sands of Alberta have been a scene of
controversy since the commercial production of oil began there in 1967. The Oil Sands are
underground deposits made up of a mixture of sand, water, clay, and bitumen (1). The oil extracted
from these reserves in Alberta is an integral source of energy used by Canadians on a daily basis, from
transportation to heating. The oil sands are also a major host for jobs not only for the locals in Alberta,
but also for all Canadians. Even with such apparent benefits, there are many who ... Show more

Therefore with the growing need for energy in the global markets America decided to loosen trade
policy regulations and export crude oil. America has been able to keep with Saudi Arabia s absurd
production of crude oil, causing the price of crude oil to drop. This constant production of crude oil
has brought prices to fall below $40 USD, causing many energy firms in Alberta to make staff and
budget cuts. The Alberta oil industry future is grim, as many companies have already reduced
spending plans and has predicted that they will be operating 57% less than 2014. This tremendous hit
to the Oil industry has caused tremors in all other aspects of the economy as the unemployment rate,
immigration rate, and the real estate market worsens. Alberta s economy is closely related to the oil
industry, thus with the decline of crude oil prices the economy is in an unstable state. III. DATA
ANALYSIS Figure 3 1 Alberta s oil exports has been increased from about $17.1 billion to $76.2
billion and the proportion of oil exports in total goods exports has also been increasing between 2004
and 2014. In other words, oil exports have become more and more important in Alberta s exports.
Figure 3 2 From 2014, the crude oil price has dropped in a sudden since the global economic
downturn, oversupply of crude oil and the appearance of new energy. Global economy fatigued, and
thus the demand of crude oil was not strong,

Is The Vice President s Comments About Cost And Schedule...
1. Are the vice president s comments about cost and schedule variance correct?
Yes! As we have seen in the case study the Spokane industries are very particular about the earned
value reports, as we seen in the reports that the Franklin electronics provided is seemed to be a very
basic according their view. The values of cost variance at the 2nd month are like 6K, 2K, 3K, 3K, here
the total comes to 14k ($14,000) and the same cost variance in the following month are presented as
7K, 3K, 5K, 10K ($25,000) respectively, so here we can see that the values that were provided in the
2nd month are less than 3/4th of the 3rd month. Comes to the scheduling variance the values given to
the 2nd month are said to be 8K, 1K, 2K, 20K ($31,000), the 3rd month calculations are in the order
12K, 3K, 4K, 26K ($45,000), so by seeing this we can easily say that the scheduling variance is
overrated nearly 50% of its value in the previous month. So, whatever the sponsor said in the case
study is true.
I hope their main aim for the need of these earned value reports is to reduce the interchange meetings
and to finish the project within the basic 3 constraints of a project management. That is why they
opted a formalized project management. From the case study it is very easy for us to make sure that
they believed earned value reports are some techniques to avoid the interchange meetings. The
reduction in interchange meetings automatically reduces time for discussing the completed work

3.08 Review and Critical Thinking
3.08 Review and Critical Thinking Review Questions 1. Explain the different forms of child abuse?
Include Shaken Baby Syndrome in your response. The different forms of child abuse are physical
abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and Shaken Baby Syndrome. Physical abuse is violence
directed toward a child by a parent. Emotional abuse is when the victim feels worthless and rejected.
Sexual abuse is sexual contact between the child and an adult or even the perpetrator speaks to the
child in a sexually explicit way. Neglect is when parents fail to take care of their child s basic physical,
emotional, disciplinary, and educational needs. Shaken Baby Syndrome is a form of child abuse,

4. List and explain factors that lead to poor relationships and that increase the risk of child abuse.
Factors that lead to poor relationships are latchkey children, marital strife and divorce, substance
abuse, HIV/AIDS, and death. Latchkey children routinely spend time alone in home without adult
supervision. Children who are raised in homes that are full of conflict and hostility between parents
experience a high level of stress. Drug and alcohol abuse can hinder a person s self control and a
parent s ability to be responsible and a nurturing parent. HIV/AIDS is sexually transmitted, and both
parents are likely to be affected, so it leaves the child at risk of being orphaned by the disease. Dealing
with the death of loved ones is one of the most difficult aspects of life and there is no way to protect
children from this painful experience. 5. Why is it critical for a parent to be involved in their children s
education? It is critical for a parent to be involved in their children s education because it is important
for a child to have knowledge. Parents often help toddlers develop early academic skills by reading
books to them or helping them learn their ABCs and numbers. When a child starts school, parents
should communicate with their child s teachers and keep track of their academic progress. Parents of
older children should focus on teaching their children independent study

Essay On Sleep Deprivation
Around the world sleep deprivation could be detrimental to people lives and health. Without sleep I m

of sleep that effects people s lives. I know that without sleep you can t function properly. Why do
people choose to push themselves to the limit when they are tired? Who do sleep issues mainly effect?
These are some of the questions that I have pertaining to sleep deprivation.

Sleep deprivation can lead to health related problems such as smoking, drinking and poor diet.
Research that was conducted in Ghana, Tanzania, south Africa, India and Bangladesh, Vietnam,
Indonesia and in an urban area of Kenya shows that 150 million adults in developing countries are
suffering from sleep related problems. Over 40 percent of people in Bangladesh may experience sleep
problems again with higher prevalence among women said author Dr. Saverio Stranges. The
prevalence of sleep problems was highest in Bangladesh, as people in this country are prone to anxiety
and depression. Insomnia treatment might help overcome their sleep problems. The amount of sleep
and the equality of sleep have been shown to affect appetite, weight control and the effectiveness of
diets for weight loss. Having a extra hour of sleep decreases the risk of coronary heart calcification
(hardening of the arteries).
Sleep deprivation negatively effects the brains memory. According to Ted Abel, PhD, Brush Family
Professor of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania and senior author of the study, explains: Lack
of sleep is a common problem in our 24/7 modern society and it has severe consequences for health,
overall wellbeing, and brain function. Sleep deprivation impacts the brains neuronal connections,
which leads to memory loss. Without sleep your brain or body cannot function the same which

College Education Problems
Why the education system is flawed many students over the years due to the poor support they
provided? The education system in the United States has problems over the years because it has some
flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who attend community college or university will have
issues that will cause them to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring
students accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect their goal
of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some problems; however, the results
make the prices for most colleges so high that not many students could afford. Not many students are
rich because most students are on the benefits from social security or working. Students who need
help are most likely be the ones who will fail at a higher rate of the lack of support from college. Most
colleges are not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did make some input such as
financial aid and tuition for certain classes. Many college students drop out of school due to problems
exist such as the lack of preparation, lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs.
First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were unprepared in most
colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school that brought students from high school
to learn advanced education by learning the college basics and focusing on their career.

Corporate Social Responsibilities
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The term social responsibility means different things to different people. Generally, corporate social
responsibility is the obligation to take action that protects and improves the welfare of society as
whole as well as organizational interests. According to the concept of corporate social responsibility, a
manager must strive to achieve both organizational and societal goals.
Current perspectives regarding the fundamentals of social responsibility of businesses are listed and

government agencies have been established and are maintained to develop such business related
legislation and to make sure the laws are followed. The Environmental Protection Agency does indeed
have the authority to require businesses to adhere to certain socially responsible environmental
standards. Adherence to legislated social responsibilities represents the minimum standard of social
responsibility performance that business leaders must achieve. Managers must ask themselves,
however, how far beyond the minimum they should attempt to go a difficult and complicated question

The Importance Of Leadership And An Organization
Leadership is both practical skills and research areas concerning the capability of an organisation or
individual to guide or lead other individuals, organisations or teams. It is a process of influencing
people socially where a person can register the support and aid of other individuals for the
accomplishment of common tasks (Kvalnes, 2014). This is when the interpersonal skills come into
use. Proper communication among all the hierarchies of the organisation is very important to achieve
the desired goals (Korde, Eckert, Nielsen Lazo Giffen, 2011).
Leadership is very important in any organisation to function smoothly. The goal of big and small
businesses is to maintain the satisfaction of their customers and clients. All successful businesses and
organisations need leaders who are effective (Tracy, 2014). Leaders in professional teams require
various essential skills that have a direct relation with how they cooperate with the other workers and
lead the teams to attain the targets and achieve high returns on investment. The leaders help in
communication and formulation of new, effective strategic decisions to reach the target or the desired
goals. Leaders need to be resilient and agile to focus on the socio political shifts and digital necessity
inside the organisation. Their correct and proper decisions help companies to survive and yield better

Difference Between B2B and B2C Marketing

B2B
Relationship driven

Small, focused target market
Multi step buying process, longer sales cycle
Brand identity created on personal relationship

Rational buying decision based on business value B2C
Product driven

Although you can find the products on the Internet at many different price points, many consumers
will still buy from a trusted source. In that respect, B2C marketing needs to convince the person to
buy and build trust and loyalty with their customers.
Both buyers are interested in quality customer service. B2B customer service comes into play prior to
ever making that first sale and begins with a customer s very first contact with your company, whether
you call them or they call you. B2C customer service helps build customer loyalty where customers
will be willing to pay a slightly higher price to know that they can return the product easily and can
trust the source they are dealing with. In other words, customer service is critical and although may
not be considered marketing , bad customer service can render all of your marketing efforts useless.
Importance of Brand
A strong brand is important to both the B2B and the B2C markets, but for different reasons. With
B2C, a strong brand can encourage the consumer to buy, remain loyal and potentially pay a higher
price. In B2B markets, brand will only help you be considered, not necessarily chosen.
Business buyers are using more rational thought when selecting a product or service for their
company. They are motivated by saving money, increasing productivity or raising profitability.
Consumers are motivated by desire, style and prestige.

Research Paper On The Angelus Millet
L Angélus, also known as The Angelus, was painted and completed between 1857 and 1859 Jean
François Millet. Millet is most known for his scenes of rural farmers. The Angelus, a fifty five and a
half by sixty six centimeter oil on canvas painting followed this theme. It was commissioned by the
wealthy patron Thomas Gold Appleton. It was never collected by Appleton, instead it was passed
around for nearly forty years until it was donated by Alfred Chauchard to the French State in 1909. It
then was placed in the Louve until 1986 when it was transferred to the Musée d Orsay, also in Paris.
Millet stated himself, in 1865, that he was inspired by a childhood event when creating The Angelus.

This is a very prestigious award given by the French State. Only two years later he and his family fled
Barbizon due to the Franco Prussian War and did not return until the following year. Four years after
returning, he and his wife, Catherine, held a religious wedding ceremony; they originally had a civil

his life, but after his death he became a source of inspiration for some of the world s most famous
artists. Vincent Van Gough was largely influenced, during his earlier works, by Millet. Van Gough
would write his brother and mention Millet very often. Millet also influenced other artists such as
Claude Monet and Georges Seurat. Mark Twain also was inspired by Millet, causing Twain to make
Millet the main character in his play Is He Dead? (1898). Millet s work largely centered around the
poor rural farmers working in the fields. The Angelus depicts a moment in a farmer s day in which
they would stop working in order to recite the Angelus prayer. This painting derived from a childhood

Impact Of Indonesia During The Age Of Exploration
Indonesia is the result of globalization, so is the world. During the Age of Exploration, one of the
major incidents was the relationship between India and Indonesia. Indian traders and missionaries

during the Age of Exploration. A source (Verma, Deepti.) claimed that there are evidences that prove
India s presence in Indonesia around the 200th BC. Around the 8th century, Indonesia was starting to

One of the significant obvious impacts is the 4 classes of society that highly influenced regions
adapted. It is not considered as castes, but is adapted to allow an ideal, peaceful, stable and ordered
society system. The 4 classes includes the top being brahmans that includes teachers and people who
do sacrifices, and then there s kasatrias which includes people who governs, then the waisyas that
includes farmers, lastly the sudras which includes artisans. And then there s the lower class that does
not go together with the other 4 classes, which are the chandalas that includes one who is depraved or
wicked (Fox, James J). When Hindus refer to the wicked or depraved, they are referring to people
whose occupancy are evil, have a low social status and live in a morally corrupt life despite their
ethical behavior. For example, a kind, respectful and religious man has the job of hunter killing
animals so then he is depraved. When this happen so, one can only be saved from their religious

belief system. Besides this, some strongly influenced regions uses Indian law books that are mixed

The functionalists approach explains or support the idea that each part is important for the progress
and function of the society as a whole. The Interactionist Perspective mainly focuses in the individual
actions with each other in a daily basis and what their actions means. The emphasis on everyday
behavior is the focus on Interactionist perspective which offers two explanations of crime; Cultural
Transmission and Routine Activities Theory. (Schaefer, 2010, p175) Cultural Transmission could be
interpreted as the way that humans passes their culture and set of values from one generation to next
one within a society, since the culture is something that is learn through the interaction of individuals
in social situations. Cultural transmission does not have anything to do with genetics instead it is the
way in which people interact with others. The term Differential Association was used by Edwin

worldwide hit, another movie, The Hurt Locker, came years before it. Directed by award winning
Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker is based on fictionalized characters reflecting the experiences of an

With a seemingly reckless leader, a protocol following team mate, and pessimistic, depressed young
man, this trio of actors brings a dynamic on screen that works almost only in chaos. The characters
seem to contradict each other, most notably in the two leaders played by Mackie and Renner. In the
beginning of the film it seems as if the existing team that Renner s character is put into, hate how he s
seemingly uncontrollable and reckless. The three actors bring a true portrayal of being a soldier during
war. Bradley Cooper s portrayal of Chris Kyle in American Sniper won him various awards in 2015.
Cooper even went as far as changing his physical body to better fit Chris Kyle. The movie is solely
based around the one man, as it is from the novel. Although American Sniper received more awards

The Effect Of Osmosis On The Rate Of Osmosis
The reasoning behind this experiment is the examine whether the rate of osmosis is changed due to a
change in temperature. It was hypothesized that the rate of osmosis will increase as the temperature of
the sucrose is increased. The rate of osmosis was tested by using the different jars full of different
temperate water and testing how high the water rose on an osmometer over a span of 20 minutes. An
osmometer is a tool used to measure rates of osmosis. The different temperatures tested on a sucrose
solution were 5 degrees Celsius, 20 degrees Celsius, and 37 degrees Celsius. Rates of osmosis were
higher in the hot water than in the cold water and control. The results showed that the rate of osmosis
increased as the temperature increased, henceforth the hypothesis was supported. In conclusion, the
experiment showed how changes in temperature affect the rate of osmosis.
Introduction: Osmosis is a process in which molecules in a solvent pass across a semipermeable
membrane into a more concentrated solution from a less concentrated one, attempting to make both
sides isotonic or equal to each other. Isotonic can also be described as an equilibrium, where there is
no net movement of the molecules. Osmosis is relevant in everyday life whether the general
population is aware of it or not. It could be as simple as sitting in the pool too long and getting pruney
fingers or as complex as a cholera infection in the intestinal cells that does not allow the intestinal

Les Nuits D Ete By Hector Berlioz
Amy Shuford 5 April 2011 Music History II Research Paper Les Nuits d Ete Dr. Christina Reitz An
Analysis of Hector Berlioz s Les Nuits d Ete Born in 1803, in the village of La Côte Saint André,
France, Hector Berlioz produced some of the most invigorating and exciting music of the Romantic
period (Holoman, 1, 6). Romanticism primarily focused on subjectivism, therefore people were
concentrating more on their emotions and spirituality and less on logical explanations for the problems
of humanity. Those of the Romantic period valued nature and depended upon the creativity of artists
in order to gain a deeper and different outlook on the world, one that was not strictly rational. Of all
the Romantic art forms, music, especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tonal tension portrays the anger and confusion that the character is experiencing. During the
beginning of the movement, the vocal line is given much freedom for expression because the
accompaniment is mainly comprised of block chords entering on each beat. As the emotions of the
character intensify, the energy of accompaniment is also enhanced by repeating chords by use of
compound eighth notes. The emotion of the vocalist and orchestra continues to increase because the
vocalist makes their way to their high/head register to sustain notes to portray their anguish while the
orchestra is playing arpeggiated chords set rhythmically to thirty second notes. The movement ends
with the vocalist sustaining and the orchestra arpeggiating the dominant (V) chord to leave the listener
with a sense of unsettlement and discomfort (Berlioz, Les Nuits d Ete). L Absence (Absence) is the
fourth movement and is very contrasting to Sur les Lagunes by means of emotion and tonality. The
character singing is in a stage of grief when one may deny the occurrence of the death. The singer
repeatedly pleads Reviens, reviens ma bien aimee, which literally translates to Return, return my
beloved. Though the text is saddening, Berlioz set the song in the key of F# major which provides a
bright and elevating sound. The accompaniment is minimal in this movement because it

Globalization of the Fast Food Industry Imagine a world where almost everyone is overweight, and
cultural and family traditions do not exist. Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of
the All American Meal explores the effects of the spread of fast food companies like McDonald s to
other countries. In his chapter Global Realization Eric Schlosser claims that The global expansion of
American fast food is homogenizing cultural identities; like Las Vegas, it offers a brief sense of hope...
that most brilliant illusion of all, a loss that feels like winning Schlosser carefully selects and
organizes information to advance his claim by using direct evidence as well as more subtle methods.

Schlosser starts off by saying that McDonald s biggest forms of advertisement is toward small
children. An Australian survey concluded that half of the nation s nine and ten year olds thought that
Ronald McDonald knew what kids should eat (Schlosser 530). It just goes on to show how the fast
food industry exploits children at such a young age. Schlosser goes mentioning that on several
occasions McDonald s tends to bully any party whom tries to take them to court, and threatened to sue
at least fifty British publications and organizations, including channel 4, the Sunday Times, the
Guardian, the Sun, student publications, a vegetarian society, and a Scottish theater group (542).
McDonald s did this for the sake of not losing a case called The Mclibel case which consists of a
former postal worker Dave Morris and minibus driver and bartender Helen Steel which filed a lawsuit
accusing McDonald s for promoting third world poverty, selling unhealthy food, exploiting workers
and children, torturing animals, and destroying the Amazon rain forest amongst other things
(Schlosser 542). During the case McDonald s went as far as hiring spies to break into houses to gather
evidence for their case. Schlosser writes The spying had begun in 1989 and did not end until 1991,
nearly a year afterbthe libel suit had been filed (544). This helps further Schlosser s claim

The Contribution To The Rise Of Capitalism In Medieval Europe
Feudalism is a system of social order that was dominate in what was medieval Europe. With this
social order, it provoked authority over its inhabitants. Nobility was in direct control of land masses
from the crown. What was given back was the loyalty to serve the military when needed. Vassals were
tenants of nobles, and peasants were to live on the land. Give what they produce as taxes for military
protection. This act of social order was used from about 300 to 1400 AD. Capitalism, at this stage, was
just beginning to develop and become something meaningful to the continent. There was a lot wrong
with Feudalism at that time, just like everything has their pros and cons, but feudalism had collapsed
and made way to the concept of Capitalism. These are shown in many factors and the contributions to
the rise of Capitalism very. These factors which saw the decreased use of feudalism include external
forces that shaped medieval societies to change.
There were many factors that influenced the rise of Capitalism through what Feudalism consisted of.
There were many Internal wars that took place during this time. There were many rebellions that
clashed with the monarchy. Because of this, tension between groups were at an all time high. One of
the key moments of rebellious actions took place during the peasant Revolt which took place in the
14th Century. Peasant s were fighting against a Poll tax which they thought was wrong to do. Peasants
demanded that all men should be free

Wireless Access And The Transmission Bandwidth
Abstract The demand for wireless access is permanently growing and the transmission bandwidth is
limited. Higher data rates and signal quality is always desired among the users; therefore a more
efficient use of the frequency resource is needed to fill the user capacity needs. Space Division
Multiple Access (SDMA) is used to increase the capacity given by regular multiple access techniques
(FDMA, TDMA and CDMA) using the user position information to provide access to the best
communication channel based on their spatial location. This paper presents Smart Antenna techniques
applied to SDMA systems as an efficient frequency usage technique.

The spectrum is limited, but multiple access techniques allow a large number of mobile users to share
the same allocated spectrum efficiently and use the same bandwidth at the same time without
degrading the existing quality of service.
Sending and receiving simultaneously information to and from the base station is desirable among
wireless communication systems. Equipping these base stations with smart antenna arrays enable
beam steering in contrast to sectorized single antenna systems. This make possible to Base Stations to
send data to specific users on the down link or to receive directed data on the up link by reusing
channels within a cell for Mobile Stations (MS), spatially separated by smart antenna arrays.
Cellular system divides the area into cells where mobile units are located and aims to increase the
capacity of the channel with an efficient level of quality of service. Channel access can be achieved
through: Frequency division multiple access (FDMA), Time division multiple access (TDMA), Code
division multiple access (CDMA), and Space Division Multiple access (SDMA). In this paper we will
focus on SDMA systems.
SMART ANTENNAAND SPACE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS HISTORY
Smart antennas were developed by the military but as the cellular phone users grew in the 1980s, the
commercial area became more interested in the field. SDMA idea was first introduced in 1947 by
Douglas H. Ring when he wrote about a new way to

  • 2. Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks For Communication... Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks for Communication and Exchange. 4.1 The degree of global interconnection greatly increased after 1500 CE at which point it started to include the Americas, and parts of the world it had not before. BEfore this time period the globe was only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one another everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more prominent and new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of water based trade and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world. 4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes only in that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade routes started to get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the Europeans did not travel on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation and trade that took them to another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large impact on the pre existing trade routes in the world. 4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and maps made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. This is because the new developments made it easier to travel for longer periods of time and it was easier to get where someone needed to be without getting lost. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jazz Music Research Paper Of all the arts that took place in the United States, Jazz is well thought out as America s first original art form. Since its beginning in the 20th century, Jazz music is defined by chronicle changes. Almost every decade a new essence enhanced the movement, and by the 1940 s jazz had developed into a mature, complex form of music, with many nuances and avenues for unceasing changes. Jazz appeared in New Orleans in the early twentieth century. It is the product of miscegenation between the culture of American black people from slavery, and European culture imported by the colonists. In the early 1910s, New Orleans Jazz began combining ragtime and blues with improvisation. In 1930, the swing era emerged followed by Bebop in 1940 where jazz shifted ... These artists consider that they play real jazz, not the diverse hybrids and adds on that aroused since 1960. One of the most important artists of this movement is the trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, who played a major role in the reappearance of jazz. Second, the contemporary mainstream artists are mainly influenced by hard bop. Although they use Hard Bop instrumentation and musical forms, contemporary mainstream artists try to push the music further. They increase technical proficiency on their instruments, they expand musical harmonies using more difficult chords and complex chords progression and they express deeper and varied emotions. The trumpeter Terence Blanchard is today s most important contemporary mainstream jazz artist. Third, as their name indicates, anything goes jazz artists mix up all kind of music. Crime movies often move slowly, they build up suspense and situations and they give you a bone here and there so you don t get bored and stay until the climax of the story. Pulp Fiction is unique, it s wonderfully written so each line fits on the designated actor. The story continues on and on with always interesting dialogs. The story takes its wild turns, one more unexpected than the last one. Moments that will take you by surprise are bound to happen. The writing is really fluent in the sense that in each individual scene there s so much to like, and the best part of it, is the fact that none of the direction or the writing ever seems forced, but quite natural. The movie won t feel rushed out, it takes times for discussions to go through, the dialog aren t always attached to what the whole idea of the movie. For example; Vincent and Jules having a discussion about what a TV pilot just seems like a regular conversation between two guys but it doesn t lose interest as it progress, it s just interesting. Just like the writing Quentin Tarantino also directed the movie and like the writing, he gives everything its time. The way the movie is shot is quite interesting. • 5. The Importance Of Exceptive Leadership Society benefits from effective leadership. However, effective leadership is not inherent to most people and requires development. As Ross Perot states Lead and inspire people...Inventories can be managed but people must be lead (Anderson, 2013). Exceptional leadership goes beyond a role of power. James Hunter writes in his successful book The Servant, that leadership is influence and all people are capable of leadership by the influence that they transmit into the world (2012). The role of doctoral prepared nurse practitioners extends beyond the confine of employee. The expanse of the nurse practitioner role includes leadership within the clinical, community, and national setting. As Hunter proclaims, everyone is a leader, including nurses. Therefore, it is imperative that nurses are the exceptional leaders that society benefits from. The following is a compendium of leadership topics valuable to building awareness and competency as a nurse leader. The intention for this compendium is for the author to demonstrate understanding of the eleven identified leadership topics by review of the literature. This paper will explore the many facets of leadership and their applications with a focus on the nurse practitioner role. Critical points of leadership skills, qualities, and challenges will be examined for each topic. The Science Of Shopping By Gladwell s Article For generations, Americans has been brainwashed by the media to believe that what is displayed on television is the ideal perception of what real beauty have manipulated American citizens of what style looks like. Furthermore, with their many brainwashing strategies, that means more and more consumers spending beyond their budget. Our perspectives have been heavily influenced by what they believe is nice, but can we afford it all? With unrealistic combination of goods in store, plazas, and mall, consuming has become a bad behavior of some. In support of my argument of the Overspending , author Gladwell s article The Science of Shopping also argues that stores adjust to fit the needs and wants of the shopper are evidently presented. With that being said, we have no idea when we are being manipulated into unrealistic shopping behavior that is influenced by the way the advertisement is presented in visual sight. Author Gladwell gets a retail anthropologist and urban geographer named Paco Underhill to give breakdown points of how he helps brand name stores influence consumers into persuasion of buying more. However, most of us fall short of that discipline, while being persuaded to overspend during our store visits. Thus, Chase had mainly three kinds of concern at that stage: risk, profit and reputation. Reputation From Exhibit 6, there is no doubt that Chase was the top bank in syndicated finance in the US and over the world. Although Chase argued that this term is rarely invoked and in Asia they have never invoked it, Disney was paying for a fully underwritten deal expressly to avoid syndication risk, especially the amount of the loan. If the syndication amount suddenly changes in the economy crises, it may bring serious trouble to the Disney s operation and financial stability. At the same time, if the price were to increase dramatically, it would be a high burden for Disney to pay the interest. Since Disney is one of the large clients, Chase may have to do some amendments to smooth the negotiation process. As chase, to remove or alter the rights to change the amount of the syndication may be acceptable as most of the loan have been assigned to other banks. However, some flexibility in terms of the pricing must be guaranteed to ensure the profitability of Chase in some certain economy downturn. It was in Buga (now known as Bejaia, Algeria) that Fibonacci learned about the Hindu Arabic numeral system. Since the water buffaloes has caused such dramatic effect on the ecosystem and also spread the disease in Kakadu national part, a extensive eradication program called Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign (BTEC) was initiated to reduce the population of water buffaloes (Jesser et al. 2008). This program was performed by aerial shooting from the helicopter. By then end of 1997, the number of water buffaloes has reduced from around 20000 to only a few hundred left in the Kakadu National Park. This sudden decline in water buffaloes numbers caused significant changes in vegetation ground cover and biomass (Petty et al. 2007). However, weed (Mimosa pigra) control and ongoing removal of buffaloes were required to rehabilitate the original ecosystem (Findlayson et al. 1997). The impact of buffaloes on ground level vegetation and soils in Kakadu National Park has indirectly changed the living pattern such as the competitive relationships between plants and animals, which, in turn, further altered the overall ecological structure of Kakadu. Thus, it was not enough to revert the habitat to its previous state by simply removing the buffaloes. According to Petty and his colleagues work in 2007, The impact of increase ... A Detective from the U.S. Justice Department, Ed Witwer, played by Colin Farrel, shows up to investigate the effectiveness of the precogs and to search for the human error inherent in any such endeavor. He is sure there is such a weakness because as he says, these are humans and humans can be wrong. Witwer is already convinced that the future cannot be certain, therefore Pre Crime is not foolproof. Demythology is a modernist western prejudice of the naturalistic worldview. Naturalism assumes by faith that there is no transcendent spiritual aspect to reality. Everything has natural causes. All spiritual beliefs are simply ignorant misinterpretations of natural causes into spiritual forces; wish fulfillment. Demythology is the attempt to purge the mythic ignorance of a belief to discover the true natural cause. This is a continuation of a theme that Spielberg explored in much more detail in his rendition of Stanley Kubrik s A.I.2 This evolutionary worldview tries to redefine man as a being who constructs or projects his own meaning of God and spirit onto what is actually a meaningless universe of matter in motion. The belief in the afterlife is merely an extension of the evolutionary survival of the fittest. As the originator of the precogs tells Anderton, When the chips are down, ... • 17. Individualistic Government By Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau believes that in a government that is ruled by the majority vote, or the majority rule, the government itself is answering to the requests of the strongest group, and in most cases, the strongest group is not the group with the best intentions, in terms of virtue or thoughts. Thoreau describes the majority [of the governed] ... [are not] most likely to be right... but they are physically the strongest. He believes that the majority have their requests answered due to their strength. Shortly after, he discusses the idea of a government ruling by conscience and not through their own decisions of right and wrong. Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterwards. Thoreau debates the idea of following what we believe is right, through our conscience, rather than blindly following the law. I agree with Thoreau in this aspect, why should we blindly follow rules that we know are morally unjust? Thoreau begins his piece of literature with his accepted motto, That government is best which governs least. There is a term called individualistic culture , which is defined to mean a culture that looks to government to maintain a stable society but with minimum intervention in the lives of the people. Thoreau believes that the best kind of government is the kind that governs the least number of people, supporting this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Seamus Heaney s Mid term Break , and the narrator and his family bear with the loss of a loved one. In Sylvia Path s The Jailer the narrator goes through the painful and significant loss of her marriage. The narrator states I sat all morning in the college sick bay giving the description of him sitting all morning in doing nothing at all (line 1). He was not crying, he was not talking to anyone he just sat there staring into the air. Another detail that shows that the narrator is in denial is when he states the ambulance arrived / with the corpse (14 15). It is a very cold thing to say because it s his little brother in the ambulance not just a strange, and he just refers to him as a corpse. Further explaining that he is in denial because he cannot believe it s his brother. The father in the poem is one of the best examples of how everyone deals with grief in a different way. The narrator explains that as soon as he got home he saw his father in tears and how strange it was for his father to cry especially in funerals. The narrator then states, [My father] had always taken funerals in his stride meaning that funerals never really bothered his father (5). The way the narrator s mother reacts to the death of her four year old son, further supports the fact that everyone grieves differently. When the narrator introduces his mother in the poem he states, [She] coughed out angry tearless sighs (13). If any thing disagreeable should ever fall out between us, the twelve United colonies, and you, the Six Nations, to wound our peace, let us immediately seek measures for healing the breach. It is possible to imagine that such a letter, while having good intentions, could have caused discourse in the minds of Native Americans. The Continental Congress was promoting peace between the colonists and the tribes. On the other hand, the Native Americans were guarded on account of the actions perpetrated against them. The past is not easily forgotten and asking these people to keep peace may have been indignation. It was essentially as if they were telling the Native Americans not to fight back in the event of an attack which surely made them feel powerless. The previous correspondence would imply that the Continental Congress pursued Native American welfare only when it did not hinder their strategy with Britain, but the concern for their potential allies grew as their resources dwindled. The colonists that yearned for a new place in the world realized they could not accommodate the needs of Native Americans and took the advice of Colonel Daniel Broadhead, an officer in the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment, and requested their presence. It would have been easier to brush the Native Americans aside during this time, especially with the impending Revolution weighing so heavily on the minds of the Continental ... INTRODUCTION The Oil Sands of Alberta have been a scene of controversy since the commercial production of oil began there in 1967. The Oil Sands are underground deposits made up of a mixture of sand, water, clay, and bitumen (1). The oil extracted from these reserves in Alberta is an integral source of energy used by Canadians on a daily basis, from transportation to heating. America has been able to keep with Saudi Arabia s absurd production of crude oil, causing the price of crude oil to drop. This constant production of crude oil has brought prices to fall below $40 USD, causing many energy firms in Alberta to make staff and budget cuts. The Alberta oil industry future is grim, as many companies have already reduced spending plans and has predicted that they will be operating 57% less than 2014. This tremendous hit to the Oil industry has caused tremors in all other aspects of the economy as the unemployment rate, immigration rate, and the real estate market worsens. Alberta s economy is closely related to the oil industry, thus with the decline of crude oil prices the economy is in an unstable state. III. • 23. Is The Vice President s Comments About Cost And Schedule... 1. Are the vice president s comments about cost and schedule variance correct? Yes! As we have seen in the case study the Spokane industries are very particular about the earned value reports, as we seen in the reports that the Franklin electronics provided is seemed to be a very basic according their view. The values of cost variance at the 2nd month are like 6K, 2K, 3K, 3K, here the total comes to 14k ($14,000) and the same cost variance in the following month are presented as 7K, 3K, 5K, 10K ($25,000) respectively, so here we can see that the values that were provided in the 2nd month are less than 3/4th of the 3rd month. Comes to the scheduling variance the values given to the 2nd month are said to be 8K, 1K, 2K, 20K ($31,000), the 3rd month calculations are in the order 12K, 3K, 4K, 26K ($45,000), so by seeing this we can easily say that the scheduling variance is overrated nearly 50% of its value in the previous month. So, whatever the sponsor said in the case study is true. I hope their main aim for the need of these earned value reports is to reduce the interchange meetings and to finish the project within the basic 3 constraints of a project management. The Interactionist Perspective mainly focuses in the individual actions with each other in a daily basis and what their actions means. The emphasis on everyday behavior is the focus on Interactionist perspective which offers two explanations of crime; Cultural Transmission and Routine Activities Theory. (Schaefer, 2010, p175) Cultural Transmission could be interpreted as the way that humans passes their culture and set of values from one generation to next one within a society, since the culture is something that is learn through the interaction of individuals in social situations. Cultural transmission does not have anything to do with genetics instead it is the way in which people interact with others. The term Differential Association was used by Edwin Sutherland to describe the process through which exposure to attitude leads to the violations of rules Research also adds to non criminal deviant acts such as smoking, truancy and early sexual behavior (Schaefer, 2010, p175). My response is always the same, I m on the UConn women s basketball team. Sport has played a large role in my life and has definitely impacted me. My parents were key factors that helped me get to where I am now. Both of my parents were college athletes. My father played basketball at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before that, he was an all state basketball player, tennis player and pitched for his high school baseball team. My mother played tennis at Marquette University. She was voted most valuable player all four years and won the prestigious McCahill Award as the university s top student athlete her senior year. She came from a tennis family. Her two sisters, her dad, and several uncles played college tennis. Her father, like her, won the McCahill award as Marquette s top student athlete. To this day, they are the only father child combination to win the award. My parents met in line for drug testing when they were both athletes at Marquette. With parents so into athletics, it is not surprising that they decided early on in their relationship that their children would play sports. They decided my brother and I would participate in sports at a young age and knew that sports would teach us valuable life lessons. My parents had a plan that included an experimental phase of sports. This was a time where I tried out several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Effect Of Osmosis On The Rate Of Osmosis The reasoning behind this experiment is the examine whether the rate of osmosis is changed due to a change in temperature. It was hypothesized that the rate of osmosis will increase as the temperature of the sucrose is increased. The rate of osmosis was tested by using the different jars full of different temperate water and testing how high the water rose on an osmometer over a span of 20 minutes. An osmometer is a tool used to measure rates of osmosis. The different temperatures tested on a sucrose solution were 5 degrees Celsius, 20 degrees Celsius, and 37 degrees Celsius. Rates of osmosis were higher in the hot water than in the cold water and control. The results showed that the rate of osmosis increased as the temperature increased, henceforth the hypothesis was supported. In conclusion, the experiment showed how changes in temperature affect the rate of osmosis. Introduction: Osmosis is a process in which molecules in a solvent pass across a semipermeable membrane into a more concentrated solution from a less concentrated one, attempting to make both sides isotonic or equal to each other. Isotonic can also be described as an equilibrium, where there is no net movement of the molecules. Osmosis is relevant in everyday life whether the general population is aware of it or not. It could be as simple as sitting in the pool too long and getting pruney fingers or as complex as a cholera infection in the intestinal cells that does not allow the intestinal cells ... Romanticism primarily focused on subjectivism, therefore people were concentrating more on their emotions and spirituality and less on logical explanations for the problems of humanity. Those of the Romantic period valued nature and depended upon the creativity of artists in order to gain a deeper and different outlook on the world, one that was not strictly rational. During the beginning of the movement, the vocal line is given much freedom for expression because the accompaniment is mainly comprised of block chords entering on each beat. As the emotions of the character intensify, the energy of accompaniment is also enhanced by repeating chords by use of compound eighth notes. The emotion of the vocalist and orchestra continues to increase because the vocalist makes their way to their high/head register to sustain notes to portray their anguish while the orchestra is playing arpeggiated chords set rhythmically to thirty second notes. The movement ends with the vocalist sustaining and the orchestra arpeggiating the dominant (V) chord to leave the listener with a sense of unsettlement and discomfort (Berlioz, Les Nuits d Ete). L Absence (Absence) is the fourth movement and is very contrasting to Sur les Lagunes by means of emotion and tonality. The character singing is in a stage of grief when one may deny the occurrence of the death. The singer repeatedly pleads Reviens, reviens ma bien aimee, which literally translates to Return, return my beloved. Though the text is saddening, Berlioz set the song in the key of F# major which provides a bright and elevating sound. The accompaniment is minimal in this movement because it ... With this social order, it provoked authority over its inhabitants. Nobility was in direct control of land masses from the crown. What was given back was the loyalty to serve the military when needed. Vassals were tenants of nobles, and peasants were to live on the land. Give what they produce as taxes for military protection. Higher data rates and signal quality is always desired among the users; therefore a more efficient use of the frequency resource is needed to fill the user capacity needs. Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) is used to increase the capacity given by regular multiple access techniques (FDMA, TDMA and CDMA) using the user position information to provide access to the best communication channel based on their spatial location. This paper presents Smart Antenna techniques applied to SDMA systems as an efficient frequency usage technique. The spectrum is limited, but multiple access techniques allow a large number of mobile users to share the same allocated spectrum efficiently and use the same bandwidth at the same time without degrading the existing quality of service. Sending and receiving simultaneously information to and from the base station is desirable among wireless communication systems. Equipping these base stations with smart antenna arrays enable beam steering in contrast to sectorized single antenna systems. This make possible to Base Stations to send data to specific users on the down link or to receive directed data on the up link by reusing channels within a cell for Mobile Stations (MS), spatially separated by smart antenna arrays. Cellular system divides the area into cells where mobile units are located and aims to increase the capacity of the channel with an efficient level of quality of service. Channel access can be achieved through: Frequency division multiple access (FDMA), Time division multiple access (TDMA), Code division multiple access (CDMA), and Space Division Multiple access (SDMA). In this paper we will focus on SDMA systems. SMART ANTENNAAND SPACE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS HISTORY Smart antennas were developed by the military but as the cellular phone users grew in the 1980s, the commercial area became more interested in the field.
