Animals vs. Humans in Medical Experimentation Essay
For centuries mankind has experimented on animals for a number of different reasons. Early
experimentation with animals was originally born out of curiosity but eventually became a necessity
to find medicines to cure viruses and a myriad of illnesses. If not for the existence of animals, humans
would be left to experiment on themselves at a high rate which would create a worldwide moral
dilemma. Such a dilemma could be dictated based on the question of who should be chosen for
experimentation; should it be a particular race or class of people?
Animals commonly used in medical research are rats and chimpanzees. Over time these species have
proven to be plentiful and they have exhibited the ability to sustain the various testing ... Show more

Thanks to animal research, many diseases that once killed millions of people are now either treatable
or curable. Animal testing has not only benefit humans, but animals as well. Some animal testing has
lead to life saving and life extending treatments for many of the animals used for testing. A complete
alternative to animal testing has yet to be discovered. The focus of animal research has been
characterized by three criteria, The Three R s. The Three Rs are reduction, replacement and
refinement. Here in the US, research communities are committed to supporting techniques that reduce
the number of higher species used, replace animals with other models wherever/whenever possible,
and refine tests to ensure the most humane conditions possible. (Trull 2). Scientists try to keep the
animals from being harmed as much as possible.
Every research laboratory is required to have an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee,
consisting of research experts, licensed vets and members of the public. This committee is in charge of
reviewing and accepting the use of animals. They are also in charge of watching the care and use of
those animals by studying the laboratories, keeping track of the programs and responding to any
additional concerns.
Those opposed to animal testing assume that the

Problem Associated With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd )
One major problem associated with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the prevalence of
fibrosis that occurs in the skeletal muscles, heart, and lungs of these patients. In the heart and lungs,
fibrosis inhibits the body s ability to perform cardiopulmonary or respiratory function, respectively.
These conditions typically result in death if no emergency medical attention is given. Fibrosis can also
present as contractures in the skeletal muscle fibers, which will usually result in the loss of skeletal
muscular function and the need for surgery.
DMD is caused by a mutation in the X linked dystrophin gene, which results in a dysfunctional
dystrophin protein. Dystrophin is a cytoskeletal protein that provides mechanical stability to muscle
cells by connecting the muscle sarcolemma to the basal lamina of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and
without it there, the muscle cells typically undergo a process of degeneration and regeneration. This
process is limited by the survival of satellite cells present since satellite cells can only undergo mitosis
a limited amount of times. Sarcolemma instability typically results in excess intracellular amounts of
both sodium and calcium, which causes ATP depletion and mitochondrial uncoupling (Horn Schleip,
2012). Satellite cells only have a limited number times they can undergo mitosis, and once a patient
can no longer generate healthy muscle cells, the patient will typically experience cell death. This cell
death and necrosis usually

Rich People Just Care Less By Daniel Goleman
Imagine having a 200% percent in a class with a few weeks left. Would you continue to put in the
effort or stop because you know you are guaranteed the A+? Most humans would stop because the
effort was no longer needed. Rich and powerful people have this mindset when it comes to empathy
and compassion to others. They don t see the need to connect to the feelings of others because it seems
irrelevant to their life. Agreeing with the article Rich people just care less by Daniel Goleman, I too
believe that high salaried and statused people do not have as good interpersonal relationships as low
class workers because they lack interest in understanding others situations. Social interactions are vital
in the world we live in today, yet, more so for the poor because While the wealthy can hire help, those
with few material assets are more likely to value their social assets: like a neighbor who will keep an

Thomas F. Pettigrew, a sociologist, claims, per Goleman , that even in areas where ethnic groups were
in conflict and viewed one another through lenses of negative stereotypes, individuals who had close
friends within the other group exhibited little or no such prejudice (Goleman 2). Since rich people
typically lack meaningful interaction with lower classes or people of different ethnicities, they fail to
see that they are often good people that don t deserve to be stereotyped. Instead, they look at the
differences between them causing the empathy gap. Clearly rich people have benefits in life but
money can t buy many things. No matter how much money someone makes, empathy is not buyable.

The Cases Of Civil Resistance In The French Revolution
Resistance can be generally defined as the rejection to accept or respond with something, or trying to
stop or prevent something by on action or argument. When a part of society decided to resist legally
against the tyrannical organizer in order to found constancy and order.
Within the major definitions and perspective of resistance among resistance studies we find the
paradigmatic work by scott. He argues that class distinction, which is his main benefit includes and

The French Revolution was an effective period of social and political eruption in France that lasted
from 1789 until 1799. Inspired by freed, liberal and radical ideas, the Revolution extremely adapted
the course of modern history, causing the global decline of theocracies and repudiated ownership
while replacing them with republics and democracies. Through the Rebellious Wars, it unleashed a
wave of universal conflicts that prolonged from the Caribbean to the Middle East. People widely

Research Paper On Dodo Bird
The Mysterious Dodo
Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of
emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You had never
been an aggressive animal. You were friendly, you didn t eat animals, and it s not like you had the
abilities to overpower anything if you did eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo
bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like a tedious
animal; However, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a way that
you may find odd.
The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink
flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is.
The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the
Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in
Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds
it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only
imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on
its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In
terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it

Difference Between Faith And Knowledge
I enjoyed reading Pascal s wager so much that I decided to write my paper on him. I m going to dig
deeper into his background and answer key questions like what is the relationship between faith and
knowledge? Is faith in god justified? Why? How? In matters of faith and relationship with God, is the
question of the existence of God even relevant? Why or Why not? I am going to answers these key
questions in the upcoming paragraphs. I will briefly explain the argument of Pascal s wager and the
reasoning behind it. Is there a God? Should I believe in God? People think about this question
everyday. Pascal is famous, among other things for his wager argument. It was a groundbreaking
theory at that time. It s basically a risk vs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will continue to defend Pascal s argue that if you look at the bigger picture, it s better to believe in
God than it is not to believe. Pascal wanted us to make a choice. He was a mathematician and
physicist. He developed the rules for probability, which we still use today. Which makes a lot of sense
because Pascal basically paved the way for gambling. We will answer an important question, What is
the relationship between faith and knowledge? Knowledge is both objective and subjective.
Knowledge is attained through reason, faith is belief based without evidence, something that cannot be
seen. Everything we know is a matter of perception. Science and history is a great example of
knowledge and the bible is an example of faith. It makes me think back to one of our earlier classes
that we were talking about Locke s argument that we are born with a blank sheet of paper ideas and
knowledge come to us through our experiences and senses. Descartes on the other hand believed that
we are born with ideas/knowledge and you use experience to remember them. My view is that the
relationship between faith and knowledge is that you should have faith only in knowledge, which you
could then attain enlightenment through that because knowledge is wisdom. The older you get, the
more wisdom you received. Pascal goes on to mention on page 357, Who then will

Stereotype Of A Quarterback And The Quarterback
Stereotype of a Quarterback What do you think a typical quarterback looks like ? You probably think
of a tall, white and probably a pretty good looking man. Over the fall break my father and I talked a
lot about football . I asked him the same question and he responded by saying A typical quarterback to
me is a guy who has some height to him, white skin, the smartest player on the team and usually one
of the better looking guys on the team. I was not surprised to hear this from my father , as he is a
former quarterback himself and has been around football for a while . We also talked about other
steryotypes that come across the position, when people think of quarterbacks. It varies across different
levels of football but when you think of an NFL quarterback he is usually 6 2 or taller and white.
Some of the most popular quarterbacks in today s NFL include Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton
Manning. All of these guys fit that stereotype. However, there are also some popular quarterbacks of
color who are helping break the stereotype , such as : Cam Newton , Russell Wilson and Michael
Vick. These men are helping break that stereotype by how they have performed in recent years. It was
not really that long ago that where blacks and whites did not get along in the best. Every state in the
south had Jim Crow laws in place , for about one hundred years (1870s 1965). These laws came into
place after the south was defeated in the Civil War and slavery was ended. The laws

If left untreated, it can lead to serious consequences like phobia. An example is agoraphobia, fear of
leaving home. Someone may develop this phobia just to avoid having a panic attack out in the public
world. It would also make you worry about having an attack everyday which will impact your life.
Some people will also get the fear of driving. To avoid attacks, it s best to avoid alcoholic drinks,
caffeine, smoking and recreational drugs. Getting enough sleep will help you in not feeling so
overwhelmed throughout the days. Surrounding yourself with love ones who are willing to help you

A Study of the Healing Process from Slavery and Racism Essay
A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great
nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it. Frederick Douglass When you think
of slavery, you may want to consider the effects of an earthquake because that s how powerful it was.
Like many earthquakes, slavery produced various damaging ramifications to everything around it.
This included devastation to family structures and in worst cases the loss of human life; and without
doubt slavery claimed the lives of many just as Harriet Jacobs expressed I once saw a slave girl dying
after the birth of a child nearly white. In her agony she cried out, O Lord, come and take me! Her
mistress stood by, and mocked at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Frederick Douglass, it was the blood stained gate, the entrance to the hell of slavery,
through which I was about to pass. It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to paper the
feelings with which I beheld it (p.4). Frederick Douglass and Toni Morrison literatures examine the
stigma of slavery, and the perceptions of its dangers. They illustrate what life was like and the mental
as well social impact it had on enslaved African Americans and their life after gaining freedom.
Richard Wright convinces his audience in Black Boy that he was tired of the limitations and outcries
in the South I was not leaving the South to forget the South, but so that some day I might understand
it, might come to know what its rigors had done to me, its children (284). Alice Walker obtains her
readers attention by transforming young women into their own characters with a voice using spiritual
guidance. In Native Son, Bigger has achieved is lost after being apprehended and brought into
captivity, as he transitions back into silence and passivity and begins to recover only in his final
confrontation, whereas Douglass in the same prevailing convention, only heals after the regaining of
his freedom. Through these literatures, and many others, African Americans find multiple ways to
alleviate and recover from the intensity of undesired bondage and bigotry. In essence, Douglass born

Essay on America Needs Tort Reform
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, The tort system is truly
broken and in bad need of repair. Tort cases are becoming an extremely common fight in the nation s
legal system. Since 1986, 38 of the 50 United States have adopted some sort of tort reform. However,
with the many flaws of the tort system today, the suffering American economy will continue to fall
behind if the American public does not insist on fighting for justice in the legal system. The governing
bodies of these states must continue to seek reform and propose strategies to fix the corruption in the
tort system. The legal system set up by the founding fathers will experience corruption in the
negligence of these governing bodies. Tort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reform is needed.
In 2005, the estimated cost of the tort system in the United States was approximately 260.8 billion
dollars. Broken down, every U.S. citizen spends approximately 880 dollars annually on litigation taxes
which fund United States tort cases (Balik, Carl). Understanding these numbers, it is absurd to think
that a family of 6 spends approximately $5,280 each year on frivolous cases in the nation s judicial
system. With each U.S. citizen paying roughly $1,000 on cases of tort, it is obvious that the system is
being abused. Caps in the tort system limit the amount of money a jury can award a victim. These
need to be put in place in order to prevent further damage to the nation s economy and further abuse to
the county s legal system.
Lawsuits of medical malpractice may be the greatest threat to justice in the legal system. Tort cases are
constantly filed against medical practices which cause health care prices to dramatically increase in
states lacking caps. Medical practitioners are forced to undergo an unnecessary amount of costly tests
and procedures in order to defend themselves from frivolous lawsuits. The expenses of these
precautions cause hospitals and other medical facilities to charge more for the care given to the
patients,

The Three Dimensions Of Celebrity Worship
There are three dimensions of celebrity worship which are consistent with the absorption addiction
model (Maltby, Day, McCutcheon, Houran, Ashe, 2005). These three dimensions are entertainment
social, intense personal, and borderline pathological. In the Entertainment social celebrity worship, an
individual develops an attraction to a favorite celebrity, which is consistent with Stever s (1991)
observation (as cited by McCutcheon et al., 2003) about the celebrity s perceived ability to capture the
attention of fans. It includes attitudes and behaviors such as My friends and I like to discuss what my
favorite celebrity has done, and Learning the life story of my favorite celebrity is a lot of fun
(McCutcheon et al., 2003).
The next level of celebrity worship is characterized by Intense personal feelings, where behaviors and
attitudes like I consider my favorite celebrity to be my soul mate, and I have frequent thoughts about
my favorite celebrity, even when I don t want to. are common (McCutcheon et al., 2003). This is the
level where the compulsive and intensive feeling of the fan towards the celebrity is apparent as well as
some occasional obsessive tendencies (Maltby et al., 2005). At this point, people are absorbed with the
life of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is a contrasting view of celebrity worship wherein the positive roles carried out by
these fans in maintaining social networks around their favourite celebrities are emphasized (Maltby et
al., 2001). The said behaviour can be beneficial to the individual because it supports productive social
relationships, which may also serve as psychological buffer against stressors (Maltby et al., 2001). In
relation to adolescent development, parasocial interactions formed in this stage may contribute to
social, emotional, and transitional roles of adolescents (Adams Price Green,

True Love In Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband
Anne Bradstreet s poem To My Dear and Loving Husband, the magnificent writer strongly uses
vocabulary, tone, figurative language and imagery to show that the only way true love can be repaid is
by that in heaven. In order to better understand the reasoning behind such writing, it would benefit to
know delicate information on the writer. Anne Bradstreet was born Anne Dudley in 1612 in
Northampton shire, England to a nonconformist former soldier of Queen Elizabeth, Thomas Dudley,
who managed the affairs of the Earl of Lincoln. Anne had been well tutored in literature and history in
Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as English. She married Simon Bradstreet, a graduate of
Cambridge University, at the age of 16. Two years later, Bradstreet, along with her husband and
parents, immigrated to America with the John Winthrop Puritan group, and the family settled in
Ipswich, Massachusetts. There Bradstreet and her husband raised eight children, and she became one
of the first poets to write English verse in the American colonies. It was during this time that
Bradstreet penned many of the poems that would be taken to England by her brother in law. (Stanford
397) The mother of 8 children and a dynamic speaker, Hutchinson held prayer meetings where women
debated religious and ethical ideas. Her belief that the Holy Spirit dwells within a justified person and
so is not based on the good works necessary for admission to the church was considered heretical.
Bradstreet was concerned with the issues of sin and redemption, physical and emotional frailty, death
and immortality. (Svendsen 64) Much of her work indicates that she had a difficult time resolving the
conflict she experienced between the pleasures of sensory and familial experience and the promises of
heaven. As a Puritan, she struggled to subdue her attachment to the world, but as a woman she
sometimes felt more strongly connected to her husband, children, and community than to God. (Reid
544) Simon Bradstreet s (Anne s husband) responsibilities as a magistrate of the colony frequently
took him away from home, and he was very much missed by his wife. Bradstreet s love poems make it
clear that she was deeply attached to her husband. Marriage was important

The Role of Corporate Reputation
As it pertains to organizational performance and social responsibility, a company s corporate
reputation plays a large role. The biggest example is that of a company s reputation amongst its
potential customers. A company s main performance goal is to earn a high level of profit, typically
through a high level of revenue. However, if that company has a poor reputation amongst those
potential customers, the company will not be earning their money. On the other hand, a business with
a highly though of reputation can also attract more customers than they otherwise would have,
therefore earning more revenue.
For social responsibility, the biggest impact a company s corporate reputation is found in that
company s ability to influence other companies to follow in social responsibility initiatives. If a

John K, Thornton s African Dimension Of The Stono Rebellion
On September 9, 1739, the Stono Rebellion took place in the colony of South Carolina. The slaves,
lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against their
oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were eventually
stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more slaves experienced
the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the lack of information we
have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the ability to revolt against the
harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can agree that this was one of the
most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still debated. Some historians, like
William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece Spanish Designs and Slave
Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K, Thornton sees that the best way
to view the Stono Rebellion is to look at the African background of slaves in his essay, African
Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example, asserts gender is the way to
comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . All of these historians address important
factors of the Stono Rebellion, however in order to best understand the Stono Rebellion one must

Business Case Analysis
In this particular situation, from my perspective as the furniture manufacturer, I believe that
negotiation would be the best means by which to solve the problem with the store owner. By using
negotiation, the furniture store and my manufacturing business may be able to reconcile and continue
dealing with each other after we have resolved the issue. With negotiation, the tone is not very formal,
outside legal counsel is not required, and the parties to negotiation set their own terms, making it
generally more cost effective and efficient than other methods. By comparison, in the case of
arbitration or litigation, the proceedings are far more formal and expensive, the process takes much
longer, and in the case of litigation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, due to the potential harm this holdup may cause, I would offer a formal apology to both the
store owner and the store s customers in this situation. An apology letter may calm the customers
down and may keep them motivated to remain on the waiting list. Since apology law protects this
from being seen as an admission of guilt in Ontario, this may help to facilitate reconciliation. Upon
negotiating, I would agree to offer some of the money that will be lost due to the breach of contract
while my business seeks out a new supplier. I would also assure that a written contract with the
supplier will be created so that the store owner can be assured that my business is making steps to
ensure that an issue such as this one will not occur again.
It s not likely that the furniture store would be able to fight my business all the way to the Supreme
Court of Canada . The simple fact of the matter is that in any legal action, there is no inherent right to
the Supreme Court. Very few cases are heard by the Supreme Court, and they are often the ones that
deal with very serious injustices, and usually pertain to criminal matters. Thus, the Supreme Court
would be very unlikely to hear a breach of contract case involving two small businesses. As well, a
significant proportion of civil cases do not move past the Discovery stage and actually proceed to trial.

any other normal female teenager. Whilst Jules believes that her enjoyment in playing football is not

this in one particular scene where Jules and her mother are in a bra shop, and Jules s mother is
demonstrating each bra s functions to her. Jules not paying attention ignores her mother s advertising .
To emphasize why the bra s she chooses are appropriate, she heaves her daughter s chest and pushes it

This creates humour because the viewers feel embarrassed for Jules, when her mother touches her in a

put an exaggerated accent on. This is mainly seen with Jasminder s parents who tend to communicate

Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book
Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way more
descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not as
descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening. Finally,
movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are pretty cool
because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined before. The
book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version because the book
includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first important character to
the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s ... Show more content on

Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to the
underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands. Even though
he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds detail to the storyline
though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed to be in the underworld get
in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story. Finally the Three Kindly Ones are
important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra
teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come
back to life. They aren t as important as other characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once.
That shows they are in the story but not necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to
read about. Ms. Dodds is the only one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the
movie too. However, they do work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though
they didn t hurt Percy they still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more
interesting. That s why the Three Kindly Ones make the book more

Compare And Contrast Jekyll And Frankenstein
One way that this double personality is represented in both Shelley s novel and Stevenson s novella is
through the theme of isolation. Both of them have main characters who are disregarded by society but
who also isolate themselves in order to maintain the secret that they are trying to disguise; the fact that
they have immorality in their human nature as well as morality. This is particularly present in the
character of Victor in Frankenstein. He chooses to isolate himself, firstly at the university in
Ingolstadt, when he avoids all contact he can with his family so as to work on the Monster. Later, he
neglects Elizabeth (his cousin and most caring companion) out of fear she will discover his secret. He
also then chooses the remote Orkney ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where Dr Jekyll and Victor Frankenstein are characters who isolate themselves from society more
than anything else, Hyde is a solid, living form consisting purely of Jekyll s immorality, and is
rejected from society evenwithout any isolation on his part. It is clear from the moment he is first
mentioned in chapter 1, in the conversation between Utterson and Enfield, that he is not someone that
is going to be well liked in the story, especially when Enfield describes Hyde as if there is something
wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable. I never saw a
man I so disliked. Just from this one conversation it soon becomes clear that society has shut this man
out, particularly when it is revealed that the doctors and everyone in the crowd around the trampled
girl in the story feels the same way Enfield does, as if they want to kill him . The treatment of the
Monster in Frankenstein is also very similar to Hyde s as they were both set around the same time
period and the views of immorality were roughly the same, if not worse in Shelley s earlier

Basement Condensation
Tips For Drying Out Basement Condensation
If you re having problems with a wet or damp basement, the first thing you want to do is figure out the
reason for the problem. That helps you determine the best way to fix the situation. For instance, your
wet basement may be caused by condensation. If that s the case, you may be able to dry it out
yourself. Here are some tips for dealing with a wet basement when it is caused by condensation.
Control The Climate
Condensation forms on your basement walls and floor when there is a temperature difference in the
basement. If it is hot and humid outdoors and you vent your basement to the outside or open a
window, then the warm air will create dampness when it enters your cool basement. Water drops form
on the walls and floor creating streaks, puddles, and increased humidity that causes a musty smell. In
the winter, condensation may form when heated hair from upstairs leaks into your basement. If you
control the temperature and humidity levels in your basement, then you can better control the amount
of condensation you have to deal with. Things you can try include running a dehumidifier, using fans
to circulate air, and venting humid, hot air from a clothes dryer to the outside. ... Show more content

You do this by adding insulation. Wrap insulation around all exposed plumbing pipes to keep water
from forming on them and dripping to the floor. Also, consider adding insulation to the walls of your
basement. Even if you just use your basement for storage and don t care about its appearance, having
insulated, finished walls will make the walls warmer and less likely to collect dampness.

Joropo Dance Essay
For centuries, Venezuela and Colombia have been home to the unique genre of traditional music called
joropo that was believed to have originated in the 18th century within rural settings. Characterized by
its African, European and indigenous influences, the term joropo was first used to describe dances and
festive events such as parties, family reunions and picnics. Joropo spread across Venezuela and
Colombia thus various regions adopted a slightly different style of joropo. Joropo llanero, for
example, comes from the Orinoco plains of Colombia and western Venezuela and has grown to have
worldwide recognition. Formally identified as Fandango, Joropo llanero has grown to become a genre
associated with traditional dancing/singing, the country s rich history and cultural pride. In ... Show

It has grown to be characterized with aggressive singing and fast feet movement called zapateo (foot
stomping), including couples dance. Dancing is a key element that add sounds and visuals to the
joropo genre. The joropo dance is particularly a heteronormative dance meaning danced by a female
and male. The dance demonstrates the male dancer as trying to impress the female dancer through the
use of zapateo. Both dancers face one another, holding each other s arms, gracefully move together,
performing many spins and fast movements. While dancing joropo, the man begins stomping his feet
to the rhythm. It looks a lot like tap dancing with a partner ( Dance sampler). Dancers utilize cortizas

Procedural Justice
Definition and Description of Procedural Justice
Procedural justice is the act involved in decision making. It incorporates the process of involving
transparency and fairness in making decisions. The incorporation of justice in this process is equally
essential it entails that all parties allowed to give their views before decision are made concerning a
given matter. Some theories state that restorative and distributive justice might not be met but for as
long as there is a fair and justice procedure, there is always the possibility of having outcomes that are
equitable (Jason Tyler, 2003). The police department in America is one unit that procedural justice

essential to inspect every car and individual for verification. His driving license is swiped in the

Life expectancy in most countries in Africa would be at least 50 years or greater but countries such as
Botswana and Namibia who boast more than 20 percent prevalence have an estimated drop between

Women accounted for 48 percent of all adults living with HIV worldwide and 69 percent in Sub
Saharan Africa due to their bio physiology, vulnerability to rape and assigned gender roles among
others. In Kenya HIV prevalence rates in women was at 7.7 percent compared to the 4 percent in men
(NACC, 2006: Daily Nation October12, 2006: 3). The youth are a t the greatest risk as half of the new
infections worldwide are confined to the 15 24 age group of who young women account for majority
of the infected. Around 6,000 youth become infected with HIV every day(UNAIDS, 2006). Most of
the infected die within ten years due to lack of treatment leaving behind shattered families and
crippled prospects for sustainable development (Republic of Kenya, 2005).
The number of AIDS orphans has increased since the pandemic started. In Kenya there were 39.000

Fibromyalgia is a genetic disease that is portrayed by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and
tenderness in localized areas. Fibromyalgia is when there is pain throughout the whole body. Being
diagnosed with fibromyalgia can be a big life changer! Some of the reasons why this is a life changing
disease are symptoms of fibromyalgia, how it is inherited, the type of mutation, the protein that is
affected, the chromosome number, and treatment for fibromyalgia.
The chromosome that fibromyalgia affects is chromosome number one. Number one chromosome has

Sphagnum Bogs
Sphagnum spp., varying between approximately 120 species, is a diverse Bryophyte genus capable of
holding significant quantities of water relative to their size (Jonsson Ninniss, 2016). These flowerless
plants can accommodate around 16 26 times as much water as their dry weight, allowing them to
extend into drier environments forming sphagnum bogs or peat lands (Jonsson Ninniss, 2016).
Economic Importance:
Sphagnum moss are uniquely the only mosses with significant economic value. This can be attributed
to their absorptive and antiseptic properties (Jonsson Ninniss, 2016). Soldiers in World War II had
their wounds treated with peat moss, as it served as a sterile wound dressing. A sphagnum based soap

Researchers are worried climate change and increase average global temperatures will free large
quantities of carbon at an unmanageable rate (Peat bogs amplify global warming, 2006). Enzyme
activity causes increases in the decomposition of sphagnum moss. When such enzymes are warmed
and exposed to air they are permitted to act on peat moss and release carbon compounds into external
environments (the atmosphere) (Peat bogs amplify global warming, 2006). It is projected that by the
end of the century temperatures will increase by an alarming 5.8 degrees Celsius (Peat bogs amplify
global warming, 2006). As the earth becomes warmer, droughts will increase causing the level of
water in the wetlands to decrease, allowing the soil to be exposed to air. If the oxygen within the air
gets into contact with phenyl oxidase, the enzymes that break down sphagnum spp., a reaction causing
carbon release will occur, allowing carbon leakage into rivers and streams. This carbon pollution can
enter in the sea and come into contact with marine bacteria, which will attack the carbon and
eventually convert carbon to carbon dioxide. Increased carbon dioxide levels will consequently
produce more warming leading to more carbon dioxide production through Greenhouse gas, in a
rather cyclic series of environmentally detrimental events (Peat bogs amplify global warming, 2006).
Researchers have predicted that an extra 60 years of industrial emissions can cause doubling in
atmospheric carbon, causing acceleration in global climate change (Peat bogs amplify global
warming,

The presence of cockroaches is often detected by their damage, smell or by the fecal matter (called
frass ) they deposit. These are clues which can aid in diagnosing a cockroach problem. Cockroaches
may use such things as glue or paste (especially from animal based materials), starch and certain color
dyes as foods. As a result, items such as stamps, envelopes, bindings of older books, draperies and
occasionally wallpapers may show signs of feeding. The size of the mandible marks and the apparent
degree of vigor with which they feed are indications of the type of roach which did the damage. The
size and shape of fecal droppings are also clues to the cockroach species involved.
The most important aspect of cockroach damage derives from their habit of feeding and harboring in
damp and unsanitary places such as sewers, garbage disposals, kitchens, bathrooms, and storage areas
indoors. Filth from these sources is spread by the cockroaches to food supplies, food preparation
surfaces, dishes, utensils, and other surfaces. Far more food is contaminated by cockroaches than they
are able to eat. Diseases transmitted as a result of these habits were discussed earlier. These same
habits are why people are so disgusted and repulsed by the mere presence of cockroaches. For many
people, personal disgust and the social stigma attached to cockroaches produce a complete lack of
tolerance for any cockroaches in their home or elsewhere.

Women Contribute to World War 1
How Did Women Contribute To World War 1
By: Jeff M. Lerio

A Canadian woman plays an important role and contributions on the home front during the war years.
They supported our country s war efforts not only in traditional roles, but also in unprecedented new
ways. Women in this era are said to be the toughest one, they endure all pains and suffering just to be
heard and express their thoughts. During World War 1, women roll up their sleeves and took a wide
variety of civilian job that once is filled by men. Canada s contributions during the war years would

They were faced with the reality that they had to maintain the family farm themselves, as well as raise
the children, while the husbands, sons and hired laborers were off at war. With their sons overseas,
many farm women had to take on extra work. One Alberta mother of nine sons all of them either in the
army or away working in factories drove the tractor, plowed the fields, put up hay, and hauled grain to
elevators, along with tending her garden, raising chickens, pigs and turkeys, and canning hundreds of
jars of fruits and vegetables. There was no uniform for the farmerettes, but the young women who
volunteered their services learned to wear loose fitting dressings to accommodate the heavy labor
involved in working the land and broad brimmed hats to protect against the sun. In 1918, 2,400
women served as farmerettes and assisted fruit farmers in the Niagara region. Many farm workers
enlisted in the army, and if Canada was going to produce enough food, labourers had to be found.
Farm work, promoted as a paying job, infact became a drain on the financial resources of many
women the pay was usually $4 a week. Many men left their civilian jobs to fight for their country
during the First World War. These jobs needed to be filled and women quickly stepped forward to
meet the surging demand for workers in a greatly expanding Canadian wartime economy. Almost a
million of women employed in different kind of jobs traditionally for male. Initially, there was a

  • 2. Animals vs. Humans in Medical Experimentation Essay For centuries mankind has experimented on animals for a number of different reasons. Early experimentation with animals was originally born out of curiosity but eventually became a necessity to find medicines to cure viruses and a myriad of illnesses. If not for the existence of animals, humans would be left to experiment on themselves at a high rate which would create a worldwide moral dilemma. Such a dilemma could be dictated based on the question of who should be chosen for experimentation; should it be a particular race or class of people? Animals commonly used in medical research are rats and chimpanzees. Over time these species have proven to be plentiful and they have exhibited the ability to sustain the various testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thanks to animal research, many diseases that once killed millions of people are now either treatable or curable. Animal testing has not only benefit humans, but animals as well. Some animal testing has lead to life saving and life extending treatments for many of the animals used for testing. A complete alternative to animal testing has yet to be discovered. The focus of animal research has been characterized by three criteria, The Three R s. The Three Rs are reduction, replacement and refinement. Here in the US, research communities are committed to supporting techniques that reduce the number of higher species used, replace animals with other models wherever/whenever possible, and refine tests to ensure the most humane conditions possible. (Trull 2). Scientists try to keep the animals from being harmed as much as possible. Every research laboratory is required to have an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, consisting of research experts, licensed vets and members of the public. This committee is in charge of reviewing and accepting the use of animals. They are also in charge of watching the care and use of those animals by studying the laboratories, keeping track of the programs and responding to any additional concerns. Those opposed to animal testing assume that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Problem Associated With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd ) One major problem associated with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the prevalence of fibrosis that occurs in the skeletal muscles, heart, and lungs of these patients. In the heart and lungs, fibrosis inhibits the body s ability to perform cardiopulmonary or respiratory function, respectively. These conditions typically result in death if no emergency medical attention is given. Fibrosis can also present as contractures in the skeletal muscle fibers, which will usually result in the loss of skeletal muscular function and the need for surgery. DMD is caused by a mutation in the X linked dystrophin gene, which results in a dysfunctional dystrophin protein. Dystrophin is a cytoskeletal protein that provides mechanical stability to muscle cells by connecting the muscle sarcolemma to the basal lamina of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and without it there, the muscle cells typically undergo a process of degeneration and regeneration. This process is limited by the survival of satellite cells present since satellite cells can only undergo mitosis a limited amount of times. Sarcolemma instability typically results in excess intracellular amounts of both sodium and calcium, which causes ATP depletion and mitochondrial uncoupling (Horn Schleip, 2012). Satellite cells only have a limited number times they can undergo mitosis, and once a patient can no longer generate healthy muscle cells, the patient will typically experience cell death. This cell death and necrosis usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rich People Just Care Less By Daniel Goleman Imagine having a 200% percent in a class with a few weeks left. Would you continue to put in the effort or stop because you know you are guaranteed the A+? Most humans would stop because the effort was no longer needed. Rich and powerful people have this mindset when it comes to empathy and compassion to others. They don t see the need to connect to the feelings of others because it seems irrelevant to their life. Agreeing with the article Rich people just care less by Daniel Goleman, I too believe that high salaried and statused people do not have as good interpersonal relationships as low class workers because they lack interest in understanding others situations. Social interactions are vital in the world we live in today, yet, more so for the poor because While the wealthy can hire help, those with few material assets are more likely to value their social assets: like a neighbor who will keep an eye on your child from the time she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas F. Pettigrew, a sociologist, claims, per Goleman , that even in areas where ethnic groups were in conflict and viewed one another through lenses of negative stereotypes, individuals who had close friends within the other group exhibited little or no such prejudice (Goleman 2). Since rich people typically lack meaningful interaction with lower classes or people of different ethnicities, they fail to see that they are often good people that don t deserve to be stereotyped. Instead, they look at the differences between them causing the empathy gap. Clearly rich people have benefits in life but money can t buy many things. No matter how much money someone makes, empathy is not buyable. And a person who cannot emphasize can never truly be complete. Work Cited Goleman, Daniel. Rich People Just Care Less. The incident of civil resistance is often associated with the progress of democracy. The French Revolution was an effective period of social and political eruption in France that lasted from 1789 until 1799. Inspired by freed, liberal and radical ideas, the Revolution extremely adapted the course of modern history, causing the global decline of theocracies and repudiated ownership while replacing them with republics and democracies. • 6. Research Paper On Dodo Bird The Mysterious Dodo Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You had never been an aggressive animal. You were friendly, you didn t eat animals, and it s not like you had the abilities to overpower anything if you did eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like a tedious animal; However, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a way that you may find odd. The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is. The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Difference Between Faith And Knowledge I enjoyed reading Pascal s wager so much that I decided to write my paper on him. I m going to dig deeper into his background and answer key questions like what is the relationship between faith and knowledge? Is faith in god justified? Why? How? In matters of faith and relationship with God, is the question of the existence of God even relevant? Why or Why not? I am going to answers these key questions in the upcoming paragraphs. I will briefly explain the argument of Pascal s wager and the reasoning behind it. Is there a God? Should I believe in God? People think about this question everyday. Pascal is famous, among other things for his wager argument. It was a groundbreaking theory at that time. It s basically a risk vs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will continue to defend Pascal s argue that if you look at the bigger picture, it s better to believe in God than it is not to believe. Pascal wanted us to make a choice. He was a mathematician and physicist. He developed the rules for probability, which we still use today. Which makes a lot of sense because Pascal basically paved the way for gambling. We will answer an important question, What is the relationship between faith and knowledge? Knowledge is both objective and subjective. Knowledge is attained through reason, faith is belief based without evidence, something that cannot be seen. Everything we know is a matter of perception. Science and history is a great example of knowledge and the bible is an example of faith. It makes me think back to one of our earlier classes that we were talking about Locke s argument that we are born with a blank sheet of paper ideas and knowledge come to us through our experiences and senses. Descartes on the other hand believed that we are born with ideas/knowledge and you use experience to remember them. My view is that the relationship between faith and knowledge is that you should have faith only in knowledge, which you could then attain enlightenment through that because knowledge is wisdom. The older you get, the more wisdom you received. Pascal goes on to mention on page 357, Who then will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Stereotype Of A Quarterback And The Quarterback Stereotype of a Quarterback What do you think a typical quarterback looks like ? You probably think of a tall, white and probably a pretty good looking man. Over the fall break my father and I talked a lot about football . I asked him the same question and he responded by saying A typical quarterback to me is a guy who has some height to him, white skin, the smartest player on the team and usually one of the better looking guys on the team. I was not surprised to hear this from my father , as he is a former quarterback himself and has been around football for a while . We also talked about other steryotypes that come across the position, when people think of quarterbacks. It varies across different levels of football but when you think of an NFL quarterback he is usually 6 2 or taller and white. Some of the most popular quarterbacks in today s NFL include Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. All of these guys fit that stereotype. However, there are also some popular quarterbacks of color who are helping break the stereotype , such as : Cam Newton , Russell Wilson and Michael Vick. These men are helping break that stereotype by how they have performed in recent years. It was not really that long ago that where blacks and whites did not get along in the best. • 10. A Study of the Healing Process from Slavery and Racism Essay A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it. Frederick Douglass When you think of slavery, you may want to consider the effects of an earthquake because that s how powerful it was. Like many earthquakes, slavery produced various damaging ramifications to everything around it. This included devastation to family structures and in worst cases the loss of human life; and without doubt slavery claimed the lives of many just as Harriet Jacobs expressed I once saw a slave girl dying after the birth of a child nearly white. According to Frederick Douglass, it was the blood stained gate, the entrance to the hell of slavery, through which I was about to pass. It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to paper the feelings with which I beheld it (p.4). Frederick Douglass and Toni Morrison literatures examine the stigma of slavery, and the perceptions of its dangers. They illustrate what life was like and the mental as well social impact it had on enslaved African Americans and their life after gaining freedom. Richard Wright convinces his audience in Black Boy that he was tired of the limitations and outcries in the South I was not leaving the South to forget the South, but so that some day I might understand it, might come to know what its rigors had done to me, its children (284). Alice Walker obtains her readers attention by transforming young women into their own characters with a voice using spiritual guidance. In Native Son, Bigger has achieved is lost after being apprehended and brought into captivity, as he transitions back into silence and passivity and begins to recover only in his final confrontation, whereas Douglass in the same prevailing convention, only heals after the regaining of his freedom. Through these literatures, and many others, African Americans find multiple ways to alleviate and recover from the intensity of undesired bondage and bigotry. In essence, Douglass born into ... • 12. Essay on America Needs Tort Reform According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, The tort system is truly broken and in bad need of repair. Tort cases are becoming an extremely common fight in the nation s legal system. Since 1986, 38 of the 50 United States have adopted some sort of tort reform. However, with the many flaws of the tort system today, the suffering American economy will continue to fall behind if the American public does not insist on fighting for justice in the legal system. The governing bodies of these states must continue to seek reform and propose strategies to fix the corruption in the tort system. The legal system set up by the founding fathers will experience corruption in the negligence of these governing bodies. Tort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reform is needed. In 2005, the estimated cost of the tort system in the United States was approximately 260.8 billion dollars. Broken down, every U.S. citizen spends approximately 880 dollars annually on litigation taxes which fund United States tort cases (Balik, Carl). Understanding these numbers, it is absurd to think that a family of 6 spends approximately $5,280 each year on frivolous cases in the nation s judicial system. With each U.S. citizen paying roughly $1,000 on cases of tort, it is obvious that the system is being abused. Caps in the tort system limit the amount of money a jury can award a victim. These need to be put in place in order to prevent further damage to the nation s economy and further abuse to the county s legal system. Lawsuits of medical malpractice may be the greatest threat to justice in the legal system. Tort cases are constantly filed against medical practices which cause health care prices to dramatically increase in states lacking caps. Medical practitioners are forced to undergo an unnecessary amount of costly tests and procedures in order to defend themselves from frivolous lawsuits. The expenses of these precautions cause hospitals and other medical facilities to charge more for the care given to the patients, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Three Dimensions Of Celebrity Worship There are three dimensions of celebrity worship which are consistent with the absorption addiction model (Maltby, Day, McCutcheon, Houran, Ashe, 2005). These three dimensions are entertainment social, intense personal, and borderline pathological. In the Entertainment social celebrity worship, an individual develops an attraction to a favorite celebrity, which is consistent with Stever s (1991) observation (as cited by McCutcheon et al., 2003) about the celebrity s perceived ability to capture the attention of fans. It includes attitudes and behaviors such as My friends and I like to discuss what my favorite celebrity has done, and Learning the life story of my favorite celebrity is a lot of fun (McCutcheon et al., 2003). • 14. True Love In Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband Anne Bradstreet s poem To My Dear and Loving Husband, the magnificent writer strongly uses vocabulary, tone, figurative language and imagery to show that the only way true love can be repaid is by that in heaven. In order to better understand the reasoning behind such writing, it would benefit to know delicate information on the writer. Anne Bradstreet was born Anne Dudley in 1612 in Northampton shire, England to a nonconformist former soldier of Queen Elizabeth, Thomas Dudley, who managed the affairs of the Earl of Lincoln. Anne had been well tutored in literature and history in Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as English. She married Simon Bradstreet, a graduate of Cambridge University, at the age of 16. Two years later, Bradstreet, along with her husband and parents, immigrated to America with the John Winthrop Puritan group, and the family settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts. There Bradstreet and her husband raised eight children, and she became one of the first poets to write English verse in the American colonies. It was during this time that Bradstreet penned many of the poems that would be taken to England by her brother in law. (Stanford 397) The mother of 8 children and a dynamic speaker, Hutchinson held prayer meetings where women debated religious and ethical ideas. Her belief that the Holy Spirit dwells within a justified person and so is not based on the good works necessary for admission to the church was considered heretical. Bradstreet was concerned with the issues of sin and redemption, physical and emotional frailty, death and immortality. (Svendsen 64) Much of her work indicates that she had a difficult time resolving the conflict she experienced between the pleasures of sensory and familial experience and the promises of heaven. As a Puritan, she struggled to subdue her attachment to the world, but as a woman she sometimes felt more strongly connected to her husband, children, and community than to God. (Reid 544) Simon Bradstreet s (Anne s husband) responsibilities as a magistrate of the colony frequently took him away from home, and he was very much missed by his wife. Bradstreet s love poems make it clear that she was deeply attached to her husband. Marriage was important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had also grown over the past 120 years into one of the most reputable companies in the world with an instantly recognizable brand name (Thorne, Ferrell, and Jackson 408 409). However starting in the 1990s, Coke began to experience series of bad decision, mismanagement, and alleged misconduct (Thorne, Ferrell, and Jackson 409). Debbie Thorne, O.C. Ferrell, and Jennifer Jackson s case study The Coca Cola Company Struggles with Ethical Crises examines Coca Cola and those troubles it has experienced in recent years. The Role of Corporate Reputation As it pertains to organizational performance and social responsibility, a company s corporate reputation plays a large role. The biggest example is that of a company s reputation amongst its potential customers. A company s main performance goal is to earn a high level of profit, typically through a high level of revenue. However, if that company has a poor reputation amongst those potential customers, the company will not be earning their money. On the other hand, a business with a highly though of reputation can also attract more customers than they otherwise would have, therefore earning more revenue. For social responsibility, the biggest impact a company s corporate reputation is found in that company s ability to influence other companies to follow in social responsibility initiatives. • 16. John K, Thornton s African Dimension Of The Stono Rebellion On September 9, 1739, the Stono Rebellion took place in the colony of South Carolina. The slaves, lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against their oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were eventually stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more slaves experienced the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the lack of information we have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the ability to revolt against the harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can agree that this was one of the most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still debated. Some historians, like William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece Spanish Designs and Slave Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K, Thornton sees that the best way to view the Stono Rebellion is to look at the African background of slaves in his essay, African Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example, asserts gender is the way to comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . All of these historians address important factors of the Stono Rebellion, however in order to best understand the Stono Rebellion one must consider both gender and African background and how it increased competition between the English and ... By using negotiation, the furniture store and my manufacturing business may be able to reconcile and continue dealing with each other after we have resolved the issue. With negotiation, the tone is not very formal, outside legal counsel is not required, and the parties to negotiation set their own terms, making it generally more cost effective and efficient than other methods. Therefore, due to the potential harm this holdup may cause, I would offer a formal apology to both the store owner and the store s customers in this situation. Since apology law protects this from being seen as an admission of guilt in Ontario, this may help to facilitate reconciliation. Upon negotiating, I would agree to offer some of the money that will be lost due to the breach of contract while my business seeks out a new supplier. I would also assure that a written contract with the supplier will be created so that the store owner can be assured that my business is making steps to ensure that an issue such as this one will not occur again. It s not likely that the furniture store would be able to fight my business all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada . The simple fact of the matter is that in any legal action, there is no inherent right to the Supreme Court. Very few cases are heard by the Supreme Court, and they are often the ones that deal with very serious injustices, and usually pertain to criminal matters. Thus, the Supreme Court would be very unlikely to hear a breach of contract case involving two small businesses. Books are way more descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not as descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening. Finally, movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are pretty cool because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined before. He still adds detail to the storyline though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed to be in the underworld get in. I never saw a man I so disliked. Just from this one conversation it soon becomes clear that society has shut this man out, particularly when it is revealed that the doctors and everyone in the crowd around the trampled girl in the story feels the same way Enfield does, as if they want to kill him . Control The Climate Condensation forms on your basement walls and floor when there is a temperature difference in the basement. If it is hot and humid outdoors and you vent your basement to the outside or open a window, then the warm air will create dampness when it enters your cool basement. Water drops form on the walls and floor creating streaks, puddles, and increased humidity that causes a musty smell. In the winter, condensation may form when heated hair from upstairs leaks into your basement. It is projected that by the end of the century temperatures will increase by an alarming 5.8 degrees Celsius (Peat bogs amplify global warming, 2006). These are clues which can aid in diagnosing a cockroach problem. Cockroaches may use such things as glue or paste (especially from animal based materials), starch and certain color dyes as foods. As a result, items such as stamps, envelopes, bindings of older books, draperies and occasionally wallpapers may show signs of feeding. The size of the mandible marks and the apparent degree of vigor with which they feed are indications of the type of roach which did the damage. The size and shape of fecal droppings are also clues to the cockroach species involved. The most important aspect of cockroach damage derives from their habit of feeding and harboring in damp and unsanitary places such as sewers, garbage disposals, kitchens, bathrooms, and storage areas indoors. Filth from these sources is spread by the cockroaches to food supplies, food preparation surfaces, dishes, utensils, and other surfaces. Far more food is contaminated by cockroaches than they are able to eat. Diseases transmitted as a result of these habits were discussed earlier.
