Working Title:
Combat Dash
Audience:
My audience will be aged 16-19 which means the game needs to be fast paced as teenager’s
reactions are good and if the game was a slow paced game teenagers would probably get bored
as a teenager doesn’t have a massive concentration span. My game will me mainly aimed at
males, as there are guns and battles in the game, which normally males tend to like more. My
game will be affordable by all social statues of E - A but I will aim my game at people in the social
class’s of E – C2, this is because people in the E – C2 have more recreational time than people
with a higher statues and also people with a higher statues will find the game tedious as it won’t
test their capabilities. My audience will be emulators as the majority of people who play video
games are playing them to experience a different life and are trying to seem like achievers by
beating the game. My game will appeal to my audience, as the game will have levels and getting
higher and higher through the levels they will seem like achievers accomplishing tasks.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I think that I have grasped a good knowledge of how to make an video game as completing the
case study and researching existing products has helped me to see what my audience will like. My
knowledge on video was already quite good as I play video games regularly and I’m aged 17 so
I’m in my audience range and I know the trends and popular video games. I feel I have enough
experience in Photoshop to make a good detailed videogame The irn-bru project taught me how to
make a detailed character move like an actual character rather than a 2D image sliding across the
screen and looking unnatural and fake.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My game Combat Dash will be set in a war zone where the ground is all ragged and un even,
giving the player cover and time to regain health back or giving time to create a strategy so that
they can defeat their opponents. The game will be a side scrolling game with an enemy on each
screen slide. The player has to kill the enemy to get to the other page this stops the factor of the
player just running by and making the game easy and makes the player confront people and get
into one on one combat with people making the game more enjoyable. The main character will be
dressed in a classic dark green uniform and the enemies will be dressed in a dark red, this is so
the player knows who to eliminate and who they’re controlling as the game could get very
confusing if it is not made clear. If the game was very confusing teenagers would just give up on
the game and play an easier game so making it clear of what is happening is a necessity. I will be
researching existing games so that I can get ideas from them, especially researching game hubs
as I think having a good detailed game hub makes the game better as you can use the game hub
more to help you with your strategy.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
Each week I will be self evaluating myself in my blog every Friday as I find it helps to keep a record
of what I have been doing if I was going to back on my work and improve it at any point. Also at
the end of my project I will fully evaluate how well I thought I had done on the project and what I
could improve for next time in future projects. I will get peer feedback on my project, as it will give
me someone else’s perspective of my game, this is a good way to see if other people liked your
game as well as yourself as other people have different preference’s on what they like to see in a
video game.
