Johnny Cash Essay
Johnny Cash was born on February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas. Cash was one of seven
children born to his parents, Ray Cash and Carrie Cloveree. He was named J.R Cash at birth, but when
he later enlisted in the US army he was not allowed use those initials. He then changed his name is
John R.Cash and took Johnny Cash as his stage name. Johnny Cash was an American singer
songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author, widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the
20th century.
Jonny Cash was one of the first people to play in the American prisons. Cash preformed his first
concerts for inmates in 1957 in Texas at the Huntsville State Prison. In 1958 he performed at San
Quentin for the first time, where he influenced inmate Merle Haggard to join the prison country band
and later make a band of his own called The Strangers. In 1966, he first performed in Folsom Prison
for which he wrote the song Folsom Prison Blues
Although Cash carefully cultivated a romantic outlaw image, he never served a prison sentence, even
though he was in jail seven times for small offences, each stay lasted only a single night. His most
well known encounter with the law happened while on tour in 1965, when he was arrested October 4
by a narcotics squad in El Paso, Texas. The officers suspected he was smuggling heroin from Mexico,
but found instead 688 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cash attempted to bribe a local deputy, who turned the money down, and then spent the night in a
LaFayette, Georgia, jail. The singer was released after a long talk with Sheriff Ralph Jones, who
warned him of his dangerous behaviour and wasted potential. Cash credited that experience for saving
his life, and he later came back to LaFayette to play a benefit concert that attracted 12,000 people (the
city population was less than 9,000 at the time) and raised $75,000 for the high

Vapor Pressure
The properties of freezing point, boiling point, vapor pressure, and osmotic pressure are properties that
can be manipulated based on the ratio of a solute in a solution compared to the pure solvent. A pure
solvent is generally a liquid compound that has the ability to dissolve other materials chemically.
Decreased freezing point is the temperature at which the solution or solvent becomes solid, leaving the
solute behind. The boiling point is how much it takes for the pressure of the water to become more
than the atmospheric pressure or when the vapor pressure of the liquid becomes greater than the
atmospheric pressure. Vapor pressure can be described in terms of the pressure rates of molecules
going in or out of a state of liquid or gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A colligative property is the property of a solution that differs from the solute when an ionic
compound is added to the solute and it depends on the ratio of dissolved particles to the solvent in a
solution. Colligative properties are properties of a solvent and change with the presence of a solute,
but these are properties that are independent of what the solvent and solute are. Freezing point is the
temperature at which the solution or solvent becomes solid. An example of freezing point property in
action is when salt is added to water and is spread on ice, causing the water and the ice to have a lower
freezing point. As seen when brine is applied to roadways, the solvent water, when combined with the
solute salt, the freezing point is lowered. The boiling point property is demonstrated when the pressure
of the water becomes more than the atmospheric pressure, or when the vapor pressure of a liquid
becomes greater than the atmospheric pressure in a closed environment. An example of ionic
compounds in boiling would be to add salt to water when boiling water for cooking pasta. When the
salt is added, the boiling point becomes higher, which in turn creates the potential to cook the pasta at
a higher temperature to save time. Vapor pressure is the amount of pressure that is applied by the
vapor in the air or in a contained environment on the substance from which it came. An example of

Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication
In today s highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative
ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic devices,
tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of the
information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has been
repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that
communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional
communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and
ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is a systemic process in which individuals
interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings.
A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics,
designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability,
illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because a
technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of
exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with specialized
vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The biggest difference
between technical communication and the other kinds of writing you

Mexican American Cultural Revival
Cultural revival refers to the resilience of unique traditions or group identities from the past for current
social and political affairs. People recover the loss of vital ethnic practices due to forced or voluntary
relocation, colonization or oppression in the past. The process of cultural revival such as consolidating
political identity, personal rights and recognition often consciously or unconsciously associated with
the minorities. The adaptation of past musical elements and genre into prevailing events in the society.
Huelga song is a great example in illustrating the cultural revival of corridos, and plays an important
role in U.S. American music.
The word huelga means strike in English. Similarly, huelga songs have the traits of articulating
political consciousness among the minorities, and the songs are composed entirely in Spanish. During
the 1960s, when the Chicano Movement began, and cultural revival was being employed. The rights
of Mexican Americans farm workers were exploited by their bosses. They lose their unique culture
while they were aggrieved by oppression and extortion when working in the United States. As a result,

An analysis of porters value chain
To analyse the specific activities through which firms can gain a competitive advantage, it is useful to
model the firm as a chain of value creating activities. For this purpose, Porter identified a range of
interrelated generic activities common to a wide range of firms. The resulting model is known as the
value chain.
According to Porter (1985),
Competitive Advantage arises out of the way firms organise and arrange discrete activities .
Through using the Value Chain, the activities performed by a firm competing in a particular industry
can be grouped into categories as shown in the model below:
Upstream Activities Downstream Activities
Porter distinguishes between primary activities and support activities. Primary activities are ... Show

As mentioned, gaining competitive advantage requires that a firm s value chain be managed as a
system rather than a collection of separate parts. Reconfiguring the value chain by relocation,
reordering or even eliminating certain activities can often lead to a major improvement in competitive
position.
Upstream and Downstream
A firm s value chain links to the value chains of the upstream suppliers and downstream buyers. The
result is a larger stream of activities known as the value system. The development of a firm specific
competitive advantage not only depends on the firms value chain but also on the value system of
which the firm is a part. In most industries, it is rather unusual that a single company performs all
activities from product design, production of components, and final assembly to delivery to the final
user by itself. Most often, organisations are elements of a value system or supply chain. Hence, value
chain analysis should cover the whole value system in which the organization operates.
Within the whole value system, there is only a certain value of profit margin available. This is the
difference of the final price the customer pays and the sum of all costs incurred with the production
and delivery of the product/service. It depends on the structure of the value system, how this margin
spreads across the suppliers, producers, distributors, customers, and other elements of the value
system. Each member of the system will use its

Benito Mussolini, AKA Il Dulce
Benito Mussolini, known as Il Duce, was the founder of the totalitarian form of government known as
Fascism. However that was not enough recognition; Mussolini wanted to demonstrate to the world
that he could be a successful ruler as well. Mussolini came to power and remained in power primarily
due to the actions of the Italian Blackshirts. As the Blackshirts maintained law and order, terrorized
political opponents, defended Italy, and marched on Rome, Mussolini successfully ruled as dictator.
Controlled and led by Mussolini, the Italian Blackshirts also known as the Squadre d Azione, were
made up of war veterans and young people led by ringleaders. The Blackshirt uniform consisted of a
green jacket and trouser with a black shirt and tie. The green colors were similar to that of the army
uniforms, but the black shirt and tie differentiated the Blackshirts from the other combat forces. The
Blackshirts were first created on March 23, 1919 and played a vital role in the rule of Mussolini.
Benito Mussolini s rise to power primarily relied on the Blackshirts march on Rome. On October 24,
1922, Mussolini hosted a Fascist convention in Naples as the reason for the March on Rome. There he
declared, Either the government will be given to us, or we will seize it by marching on Rome.
Mussolini s plan was to threaten to occupy the nation s capital of Rome with his forces, the
Blackshirts, and pressure King Victor Emmanuel III into inviting him into the government.

Lenore The Raven
Literary Analysis Edgar Allen Poe s poem The Raven demonstrates the loneliness and depression the
narrator is feeling after losing his love, Lenore. This is represented by the constant distractions he
thinks he is hearing, only to realize that no one, nor nothing, is there. He then tries to distract himself
from his misery, by entertaining a Raven that perched on his door who only iterates one word,
nevermore. He finds himself intrigued by the Raven, whom he assumes is some sort of prophet, after
he deciphers that it must have learned the word from a previous owner with some sort of melancholy
illness. He begins to question the Raven of the possibility of an afterlife with Lenore; however,
becomes enraged when the raven only responds to his questions with nevermore . He tells the Raven
to leave and the Raven once again responds with nevermore . The tone of the poem is dismal and
eerie. There is a lot of negative language in the poem. The author repeats the words nevermore and
nothing more multiple times. The phrase, nothing more, is the last word of the first seven stanzas; in
exception for the second stanza which is For the rare and radiant maiden ... Show more content on

The narrator is shocked by the Raven s reply to his statement, Others have flown before On the
morrow he will leave me as my hopes have flown before (58 59). The audience can see the narrator
gaining interest as he speaks to the raven. His mood becomes desperate as he sits in the chair that
brings back all his memories of Lenore as he begs god to be able to forget about her. The Raven once
again iterates nevermore , which cause the narrator to begin hopefully asking about some sort of
afterlife in which he can see Lenore. To this the Raven once again replies nevermore and the tone then
turns to anger. Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend! (97). The tone returns to dismal as the
narrator assumes he will be stuck with the raven for

Essay On Gender Inequality In The Caribbean

Worldwide, women are achieving higher representation and success. At the post secondary level
women are earning most of the degrees awarded. Where did our males disappear to? Gender
inequality is an extensive, complex and often vague concept. Simply it is defined as the ranking of a
particular gender, whether male or female, over the other and how they are treated based on their
gender. Gender inequality and the result of male underperformance in schools have become major
issues in the Caribbean, and affect the individuals involved and the society on a whole. Boys

Delinquent behaviours may also develop, such as crime when males find other ways of surviving in
providing for themselves and their families. Society, on the other hand, is economically affected by the
reduction in the workforce. Less people working in an economy, results in a decline in levels of
production. Unemployed persons may also put a strain on the countries resources. This is the current
state of Jamaica s economy. As society progresses and changes, the roles of males and females
continue to change. Historically, Caribbean men were known to take part in manual work or attend
schools, as academic excellence was seen as a male domain, while females did domestic work. Men
were also given better paying jobs, while females had to work twice as hard to be qualified for those
same jobs. In contemporary Caribbean society, the roles have interchanged and it appears that men are
lagging in education as well as in job placements. Due to the history of the socialisation of males, it is
evident in today s society that they are more likely to survive after not attending school than females,
whose only other option is domestic labour. This is so because males are hardened to find other ways
of making a living. (Chevannes, 1999) Figueroa (2004) identifies other minor factors which influence
male underperformance such as: the absence of motivational factors, a

Development Of Aging Or Mid Life Crisis
There will come a time when one has to come to terms of aging or mid life crisis. According to
Weaver (2009) the major psychological changes occur in childhood. The author also noted that Freud
also mentioned that all stages of the psychosexual development are also completed in early childhood
(pp.69). Freud and Freud also had differences when it referred to coming of age (Weaver, 2009). Jung
saw mid life not as a crisis, but put the emphasis on growth and maturation (pp.70). Most of the clients
that Freudians seen were experiencing neurosis, this put a different perspective on their adjustment to
life, while Jung s patients were socially adaptable (Weaver, 2009). Jung did not see mid life crisis of
balancing the self, social world with a deepening meaning. Jung thought that people of mid life, were
developed, one side, of their life, and now lacks meaning (Weaver, 2009). Now the existentialist view
was in contrast with the psychodynamic view and believed that people in this stage of life gravitating
towards meanings and values (Frankl, 1967). This was evident of a study done in the 1960 at a Vienna
Hospital; it showed that 55% existential frustration and half expressed life are meaningless (Frankl,
1967). Carl Rodgers had some similarities with Frankl s perspective on mid life crisis (pp.73).
Rodgers looked at it from a humanistic approach, while asking existential question such as; What is
my purpose? (pp. 73). Rodgers noted that the process of the coming of self is

Producers strategies (major label and independent) History Modern music videos were initially made
and used as a publicizing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. They are often
called promos . In 1940, Walt Disney created Fantasia , an animated film based around famous piece

shooting walking along The Serpentine in Hyde Park as his song Stranger in Paradise played. This
was dispersed to TV stations in the UK and US. The Beatles first major motion picture A hard Day s
Night in 1964 arguably set out the basic visual vocabulary of today s music videos. Penny Lane in
1967 used methods derived from underground and avant garde film to exemplify the song in an artful
manner. 1970s In the UK the significance of Top of the Pops to promote a single created an
environment of revolution and competition amongst bands and record labels as the show s producers
placed strict limits on the number of videos it would use, consequently a good video would increase a
song s sales. Queen s Bohemian Rhapsody also started a whole new age for using music videos as

As stated by an article by Prevention.com, most people touch their faces at least once in every 4
minutes. This means that if you sleep for 8 hours, you touch your face around 400 times in a day. If
you notice yourself rubbing your eyes, wiping your nose, touching your lips, or biting your nails, try
to avoid doing so. If you continue on doing this without at least using a hand sanitizer, germs can
directly enter your mucus membranes and even your respiratory system. You will then be more
susceptible to illnesses during the flu season.

Iroquoans In American Literature
Native Americans played an important role in American Literature. American writing s foundation is
due to the oral traditions of the Native Americans. Stories were told to youth about cultural beliefs
through various tribes. In the story the Earth on a Turtle s Back , the Onondaga show great respect for
the natural world. Form the Navajo Origin Legend shows how the Navajo worshipped the
supernatural. In The Iroquois Constitution , demonstrates how the Iroquois practiced customs. This
paper will explore how the Native American oral traditions are expressed by natural landmarks and its
significance, spiritual beliefs, and examples of ceremonial rites.
Native Americans have a deep respect for nature. The Onondaga tribe learned ways to work together
by observing the animals. In the story The earth on a Turtle s Back , the animals sacrificed their lives
in effort to save the Ancient Chief of the Skyland s wife. To do so, they retrieved soil by swimming
deep down in the water. When the soil was finally retrieved, the animals placed the tiny bit of soil on
the turtle s back, where the earth could grow for the woman to live on. In When the Grizzlies Walked

Feral Children Case Study
I recall hearing an interesting story about a young child a while back, who was raised by wolves and
behaved much like them. Feral children are the result of years of neglect and isolation. They are
children who have been raised away from society in harsh and solitary conditions. These children are
for the most part always mentally and socially underdeveloped. To understand feral children, one
should examine how they respond to isolation, how they react to integration, and if they are able to
acquire the skills they lost while being deprived of social interaction. Before we can examine the
behavior of these children, we need to determine the root cause of this transgression. Growing up,
these kids have very limited contact with other people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of children raised by animals, they at least do learn some skills that can be helpful towards
their survival. A child raised in complete isolation however, will lack drastically more social and
physical skills. These children may not show any levels of intelligence. A case of this type of isolation
was that of a child named Anna, who was born in 1932 in Pennsylvania. Anna was raised in solitude
ever since her mother was unsuccessful in giving her away. For about 6 years, Anna was in total
isolation and was barely given enough food to keep her alive. She was completely alone, and did not
get to interact with anybody else during the time she was being kept, locked away in a dark room.
Considering the fact that this was happening during an important stage in the developmental process,
it had a great impact on Anna s cognitive ability. Once she was found, she was in a very bad state both
physically and mentally. She was suffering from malnutrition as well as her muscles showed signs of
atrophy. She was immobile, expressionless and indifferent to everything, (Davis 1). Atrophy is a
condition in which the muscle and tissue rot away, meaning that Anna was very diseased and living in
terrible conditions. She also didn t react to anything around her or any type of stimuli, revealing that
her cognition was very slow, and something was wrong with her mentally. She eventually began to
learn how to speak, but still never fully became a member of society, and died in

Minstrel Shows and Theater
The 19th century was a time period full of disagreements and wishful thinking. During this time,
African Americans were trying to become free from slavery. This led to a Civil War. The 1800 s were
a hard time for African Americans, after the Civil War many expressed their thoughts and feelings
through plays like Minstrel Shows and other forms of theatre. During this time period, America was in
the middle of its Industrial Revolution. It was the beginning of the growth of the infrastructure for
factories and distribution of goods (Gunning 1). I believe that the business men in the 1800 s really set
up the base of how America runs today. Also invented in the 1800 s, were many important things for
the theatre. The film projector was made in 1820 by John Ayton Paris (Gunning 2). In technology,
optical illusions were in high demand (Gunning 11). These physiological toys were designed to mess
with people s minds and manipulate their perception (Gunning 9). The technological advances of the
19th century played a big role in theatre. Since America was having an Industrial Revolution, many
people from the country moved to the expanding cities in the east ( Nineteenth Century Theatre ). This
migration made the growth of theatres possible. Theatre seats, balconies, and the basic structural
support were made of wood ( Nineteenth Century Theatre ). During the 19th century, theatre lights
were upgraded three times, the theatre went from candle lighting, to gas lighting,

Costco Wholesale Corporation And Macy s, Inc.
Introduction
As a junior at San Jose State University, I have a little over a year to figure out plans for my future
career before my educational career comes to an end. Being a student of accounting, there is an

The Marketing Environment Is Continuously Being Shaped By...
The marketing environment is continuously being shaped by the irresistible force of technology driven
change and innovation Winston and Edelbach (2012). The technologies available today have altered
the fundamental principles and the communication tools available to marketers. Further discussed by
Baines, Fill and Page (2011), the advent of the internet has allowed for the development and adoption
of digital resources, from mobile technologies to the social web; including blogs, social networking
sites, and multimedia services etc. Meaning, companies can now compete anywhere on the globe, on
multiple platforms, thanks to the internet. This has changed the ways entire industries compete and
how they now offer, previously unimaginable, customer value and benefits (Capon 2012).
The digital shift has not only enhanced the communication methods of organisations, but has arguably
lead to a power shift in favour of customers is the customer king?
For decades, the traditional sales funnel process the more passive people you push down the top of the
funnel, the more buyers will fall out the bottom drove marketing behaviour (Field, 2012). In essence,
companies pushed customers towards their products and services due to their perceived need and
value. If the customers falling through the funnel needed further information, then they would acquire
a company brochure, call the company help line or visit the retail store.
However, Capon (2012) believes, that the passive

Examples Of Greasers In The Outsiders
In the Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton one of the main characters is Ponyboy. He is stereotyped as a
greaser (a poor boy from the east side of town). Ponyboy accepts being a greaser and it affects him
positively. Some people might stereotype Ponyboy as a hero and not a greaser. Ponyboy is a greaser,
this is because he fits the characteristics of a greaser. For example, all the greasers have long greasy
hair, pony has that. Besides I look better with long greasy hair. (2). This quote means that Ponyboy is a
greaser, and that he looks better with long greasy hair. Another reason that ponyboy is that he has a
small to little education, Ponyboy gets average to good grades at school and some other greaser did
not even finish school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dally breaking up in the hospital and crumbling in the streets is almost meaning how Dally reacted to
Johnny died and then leaded up to him dying. The parts where Ponyboy says don t think of this is to
take it off his mind and try to feel better about the two deaths. The greasers also respect Ponyboy, for
example, during an argument towards the end of the book Darry said to Ponyboy Sure, little buddy
(84). Another example of the greasers respecting Ponyboy is how Johnny helps Ponyboy feel better a
lot of in a lot of conflicts. For instance, getting hit or getting almost drowned. Ponyboy positively
accepted being a greaser and he is committed to being a greaser. Some people might think that
Ponyboy has the stereotype of a hero and not a greaser, because he, Johnny and Dally saved the kids at
the burning church. I swear, you three are the bravest kids I ve seen in a long time. (42), after saving
the trapped kids Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally were called the bravest kids the school teacher has ever

when he was in a police chase. Ponyboy tried to make the police not shoot Dally, he was tried trying

Similarities Between the Scottsboro Boys and Tom Robinson...
There are many similarities between the Scottsboro trial and the trial of Tom Robinson in the novel,
To Kill a Mockingbird. No crime in American history let alone a crime that never occurred produced
as many trials, convictions, reversals, and retrials as did an alleged gang rape of two white girls by
nine black teenagers on a Southern railroad freight run on March 25, 1931 (Linder 1). The author of
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee, was a young girl during the Scottsboro trial and based the trial of
Tom Robinson in her novel off of the Scottsboro trial of 1931. The three main similarities between the
Scottsboro trial and the trial of Tom Robinson are the geographic settings, the portrayal of racism, and
the specifics of the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both trials were based off of false accusations against black men. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom
Robinson was accused of rape by Mayella Ewell. And in the Scottsboro trial Charles Weems, Clarence
Norris, Andy Wright, Ozie Powelll, Olen Montgomery, Eugene Williams, Willie Roberson, Roy
Wright, and Haywood Patterson were accused of rape by Ruby Bates and Victoria Price, a known
prostitute. The witnesses for the state have presented themselves to you gentlemen, to this court, on
the cynical confidence that their testimony would not be doubted, confident that you gentlemen would
go along with them on the assumption the evil assumption that all Negros lie, that all Negros are
basically immoral beings, that all Negro men are not to be trusted around our women, an assumption
one associates with minds of their caliber (Lee 204). This quote was stated by Atticus in To Kill a
Mockingbird in the court and he is stating the beliefs of most people in the south during the Great
Depression. These trials took place during a time of segregation and racism so most people took the
side of the white women. Both of the juries and judges for these trials were white. Because of this, the
accused had no chance of getting equal treatment or justice. The last and most important similarity
between the Tom Robinson trial and the Scottsboro trial is the similarities within the court.

Hunger thirst fear transport selection fire chimney: these words all have intrinsic meaning, but in those
times, they meant something else. (Wiesel 2006, p.XII). Night is a novel and an autobiography written
by Elie Wiesel in 2006. In this book, Wiesel shares his four years of Horrifying experience at the
concentration camps. The main purpose of writing this book is to show the audience how exactly the
day to day life of the Jews were at the concentration camps. Two of the main points of this book are
Relation and Faith. Wiesel has a good bond with his father that he doesn t lose no matter what
circumstances they both went under. Through out the entire book, Wiesel shows his faith in god to the
audience. There were times where he doubts in god and almost loses faith in him and humanity but
then he continues to have faith in him. The author Elie Wiesel is a Noble prize winner and a teacher
born on September 19, 1928 in Sighet, Transylvania. Wiesel wanted to study religion because of his
religious background but unfortunately that could not happen because he was sent to the concentration
camps at the age of twelve. I chose this book because it was something that I chose it in high school to
write a paper on but I could not do it because it did not meet the requirements of the professors of my
sophomore and junior year. The Author uses his Point of View, Symbolism and Foreshadowing in this
Novel.

over time. Someone cannot control what type of genes you get and therefore you can t change who
you turn out to be. According to the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia, more than 180
different types of ectodermal dysplasia exist. Sonic Hedgehog is a protein that plays a role in cell
growth, cell specialization, and shape of physical state. This protein is important in the embryonic
development. Sonic Hedgehog is also involved in a genetic condition called polydactyly. Polydactyly
can be passed down from family to family. This trait involves a gene that can cause several variations
like for example, an extra finger . Having an extra finger can definitely add to something unique about
you. In conclusion, some of us are chosen to be born with something different from everybody else.
Good or bad it can only affect a few people. Whether it s inherited or caused by your genes this
feature gives us a sense of who we are. Not everyone can say they have mirrored organs or an extra
finger. Although we all go through the same process to be made something along the way can have a

Southwest Airlines, since the beginning has struggle and fight to get in the airline business. Starting
with Dallas, Texas. Southwest had to fight to stay at Love field airport, when all the airlines moved to
the new Airport of Dallas Fort worth International airport. Winning this battle gave Southwest the
opportunity to get all the customers they wanted, from the near downtown airport, instead of driving
15 miles for the new airport, pay for expensive parking and having to arrive one hour earlier. However
the other airlines did not like it, like American Airlines and Braniff International. They would have to

the flight attendants are resting; however some airlines have adopted this plan since 9/11. This has
saved Southwest salaries on each city for cleaning. Only on cities that the planes stay overnight they

The idea of having only one type of equipment has given great savings, comparing with other airlines
that have different aircrafts and need mechanics specialized on each different aircraft and to have
different kinds of plane pieces of maintenance according to each plane. Southwest has all his
mechanics highly trained for only one kind of aircraft and the maintenance inventory of their pieces
for maintenance in their planes are all the same and this means that they do not need millions of
dollars in equipment and train mechanics for each different type of aircraft. After 9/11, Southwest

2012 Penny Essay Conclusion
Summary: Each penny had individual measurements taken. The 1984 penny had more mass than the
2012 penny, which was interesting to discover because the gold coloring added mass to the penny. In
addition, all of the pennies stayed relatively the same in terms of mass, the hundredths place. The
weight difference shows that the pennies mass changed during the changes. Finally, the gold penny
had the largest density. The silver penny had the second largest density, and the copper penny had the
least largest density. The changes of the penny added density and mass each time. With the
information, it appears that the mass increased by .03 after each change.
Conclusion
The purpose of this lab was to transmute a simple penny from copper to silver to gold using ordinary
chemical and physical changes. To transmute a copper penny into silver and gold, two trials were
performed in order to transmute two of the pennies. The 1985 penny, which remained copper, was
unaffected. The 1984 and 2012 pennies were each turned into silver. Lastly, the 2012 penny was
turned silver and then into gold using an extra change. Since the pennies showed a transmutation, the
purpose was proven to be accurate. Since the 1985 penny stayed the same, measurements were taken
immediately. The 1985 penny had a thickness of 0.28 centimeters. ... Show more content on

Pedal Research Paper
The pedal is a body part located at the distal end of your legs. It s primary usage is for standing and
balance while moving. The pedal has the ability to remold itself to a person s walking gait. This means
that the structure of everybody s pedal in the world is a little different. Your pedal is what allows you
to stand, and keep your balance when walking and running. The leg connects to the pedal to form the
joint referred to as the ankle. The ankle is a joining between the two lower leg bones, the tibia and
fibula, and the talus bone of the pedal. This joining at the ankle joint is what allows you to move your
feet superiorly and inferiorly. The movement in one plane means that it is a hinge joint. The

This could be catastrophic to your walking gait, as high heels reshape your feet to counteract the slope
heels put your pedal on. High heels shift your center of balance forward. This means less weight is
going to be put on the heel of your pedal, and more weight is going to be put on the ball and on the
phalanges of your pedal. Your tarsal bones will shift and your arch will change. Consistently wearing
high heels can also affect the structure of your legs and lower back. The shift of your weight to the tip
of your pedal means that your center of balance shifts forward as well. This leads to numerous
problems throughout the inferior portion of the body. A study conducted by Neil Cronin from Griffith
University found that women who consistently walk in high heals rely on their muscles, not their
tendons, to walk. This finding, coupled with the fact that optimal muscle tendon efficiency occurs
when the muscle stays approximately the same length while the tendon lengthens , shows that heels
create a less effective walking gait that requires you to expend more energy. High heels put your feet
in a constant plantar flexion which means that the Achilles Tendon is always contracted. So, when you
do take off your high heels your calf will burn, your knees will ache. This is because the Achilles
Tendon is attached to the calf muscle, which in turn connects to the

Descriptive Wedding
The sun shining in front of us was radiantly beautiful on the Sunday morning of March 20, 2006. To
the right of us was a lake that seemed like a black void, the sun bouncing off its surface as we
sauntered down the pavement of the famous Lake Las Vegas. The spring air was crisp with a soft
breeze hitting us, making our hair and dresses flow in the direction of the wind. Walking ahead of me
along the gorgeous view was the wedding processional, consisting of the groomsmen, bridesmaids,
and maid of honor. I followed after them, my small feet doing their best to catch up as I was forced to
wear an uncomfortable pair of high heels. My small, five year old figure was leading the way for the
most important woman of my life, nervousness and happiness all occurring in her at once as we were
getting closer to the destination. Once the destination would be reached, a moment that changed my
family s life forever would occur; the day of my parent s wedding.
First and foremost, I was wearing a mini replica of the bride s formal outfit, a tea length white dress
that made me feel like a young princess. My small, dainty hands were wrapped around the handle of a
basket that held delicate flowers. These flowers were to be dropped on the floor to symbolize an
everlasting amount of good luck for the special couple. As I walked, one of my hands would let go of
the handle to grab a handful of pink petals inside the basket. My hand moved to the side of my body,

Irony in the Works of Kate Chopin and Guy De Maupassant
Outline and Thesis Introduction Thesis: In the end of the each story, the woman is wholly undone by
the society in which she lives; she is destroyed when she is unable to live up to the ideal of
womanhood that her society dictates. The irony that serves the end of each story is the final blow,
which undoes the woman and finishes her life. Paragraph 1: Story of an Hour as unhappy marriage
Paragraph 2: ironic twist in Story of an Hour Paragraph 3: reason for Louis Mallard s death Paragraph
4: irony as the cause of death Paragraph 5: The Necklace summary/analysis Paragraph 6: conflict and

literary device wherein what the reader expects to occur does not and the events that transpire are
wholly surprising. Authors throughout literary history have used this devise to surprise and entertain
the reader. Kate Chopin and Guy de Maupassant both utilize irony in their respective short stories The
Story of an Hour and The Necklace. In each story a woman who is believed to be happy in the role of
a proper Victorian and thus subservient female but ironically proves herself to be something other than
the ideal woman of that society and instead is something altogether different. Both Louise Mallard and

completing school she would be free to seek out an adventure in another country. Some customs never
change, and that is the case for one of the strongest held customs of the Philippine culture. When ...

This experience has given me the opportunity to learn from another culture. The interview with my
friend from the Philippines has influenced me to learn more about the cultures that differ from my
own. I am eager to learn about other cultures and gain knowledge of their values and beliefs. From
this cross cultural experience, I have gained a sense of ease when it comes to interacting with different
cultures. I have learned to be patient and listen well when speaking to a person who has a thick accent.
Allow me to finish with a quotation from Nelson Mandela: No one is born hating another person
because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if
they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart
than it s opposite (Ozdowski, 2013). Diversity is such a wonderful thing, and this cross cultural
experience has shown me that we have so much to learn from cultures other than our

The Genetic Components Of Various Personality Disorders
Personality is an amalgamation of characteristics and traits that an individual develops as they grow;
this can affect the way they think, feel and behave. However, in some cases certain fragments of an
individual s personality can progress in a way which makes it difficult for the person to live their life.
This can affect an individual negatively in their daily lives as well as the people around them; this is
known as a personality disorder (Stoddart, n.d.). Personality disorders are long term behaviours and
are usually exhibited in late childhood or adolescence and can continue into adulthood; it can cause a
great amount of distress and impairment to an individual (Rubin, 2011). Genetics is the study of
inherited characteristics and variations in genes amongst individuals (Genetics, n.d.). It is believed to
play a large role in determining and underpinning many personality disorders. This essay will be
critically discussing the genetic components of various personality disorders such as Borderline
personality disorder (BPD), Anti social personality disorder (ASPD), Avoidant personality disorder
(AVPD) and Obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) and lastly Dependent personality
disorder (DEPD), with the use of relevant theories and research.
Borderline Personality disorder (BPD) and Anti social personality disorder (ASPD) are two of many
types of personality disorders. According to The National Institute of Mental Health (2016), BPD is a
condition in which

American Aircraft Soviet Union Equipment
Introduction While escorting three B 52s on April 2, 1972 United States Air Force EB 66 navigator Lt.
Col. Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley of surface to air
missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become proficient at downing
American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the EB 66 crew, Hambleton
parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his rank and prior held positions,
Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command operations and was an expert in
surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information made Hambleton a high value target
for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American operation to retrieve just one pilot, the
North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle behind their lines must be of high value and
tried just as hard to prevent the American s from retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue
became what would be the largest, longest, and most complex search and rescue operation during the
Vietnam War. 1
History
President Richard Nixon s policy on the war in Vietnam by the spring of 1972 had lead to a large draw
down in American combat forces. During this draw down, the North Vietnamese Army was preparing
for their largest attack of the war. On March 30, 1972, the Nguyen Hue Offensive was launched to
take full advantage of the bad weather typical during monsoon season, offering low

Proliferation Report
Thank you for asking for more information. I understand that there are so many information and data
to digest. And, I see that there are so many information you have missed. It s important that everyone
understands everything and is on the same page as much as possible. So, I explain them all again in
more detail here. Please feel free to let me know anytime whenever you have questions. 1.
Proliferation experiment: Observed cell number (using XTT reagent) everyday for 3 consecutive days
right after the last vibration of each day 1.1 The idea of observing the cell proliferation is to plate the
cell in the low concentration so that we can monitor the cell growth (cell number or density). Here i
plated cells at the concentration of 7,500 cells/cm2 for the proliferation experiment. 1.2 (1) Since the

macrophages were plated at 18,000cells/cm2. Again to obtain the best result on the antibody and flow
cytometric techniques, the cell concentration needs to be sufficient. 3.3 The macrophages were plated
48 hours prior to adding the induction media and stimulating with LIV because i want to prevent the
LIV induced proliferation in interfering the LIV effect on the phenotype. (See the reasons in the
section 2.3!) 3.4 Pro healing marker (m CSF) and pro inflammatory marker (gm CSF) were used to
monitor % positive cells using the flow cytometry. 3.5 Again, the observation of these markers was
performed right after the last vibration (, which is the second vibration) on the Day1. And, 5 groups of
the cells were treated with 5 conditions and n=6. (See 1.5, 1.6,

How Is Elizabeth s Portrayal Of A Strong Female Character...
I do not wish women to have power over men but over themselves.(Mary Shelley) Women are just as
strong as men, if not stronger. Mary Shelley, in Frankenstein, portrays her female characters as weak,
passive and disposable to emphasize their vulnerability. Firstly, female characters are portrayed as
weak to emphasize their vulnerability. Elizabeth s portrayed as a weak female, as shes referred to as
nothing more than a gift for Victor s satisfaction. Victor states, My mother had said playfully, I have a
pretty present for my Victor tomorrow he shall have it. And when on the morrow, she resented
Elizabeth as her promised gift. (Shelley 21) This shows that Elizabeth s being used for Victors own
gain. Moreover, Victor can only concentrate

The Influence Of River Civilization On The People Of Egypt
Water played a big role in Egypt s ability to develop as a civilization. Therefore, Egypt is also known
as a river civilization because the Nile River had a huge influence on the lives of the people. It literally
meant the difference between life and death to the Egyptians because they depended on it for drinking,
bathing, and watering crops. Since Egypt has been a land of contrasts, a place of hot sunny days and
cold nights, of rop laden fields and empty desert , it was necessary to use the Nile to their advantage
(Background Essay). The people of Egypt shaped their lives around the river and it still provides
valuable resources to this day.
The Nile River changed farming, trade, settlement, and religion for the Egyptians. The river

Can the Subaltern Speak Summary
Can the Subaltern Speak? Summary Gayatri Spivak Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is an unsettling voice
in literary theory and especially, postcolonial studies. She has describes herself as a practical
deconstructionist feminist Marxist and as a gadfly . She uses deconstruction to examine how truth is
constructed and to deploy the assertions of one intellectual and political position (such as Marxism) to
interrupt or bring into crisis another (feminism, for example). In her work, she combines passionate
denunciations of the harm done to women, non Europeans, and the poor by the privileged West with a
persistent questioning of the grounds on which radical critique takes its stand. Her continual
interrogation of assumptions can make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As poststructuralism would have it, human consciousness is constructed discursively. Our subjectivity
is constructed by the shifting discourses of power which endlessly speak through us, situating us here
and there in particular positions and relations. In these terms we are not the authors of ourselves. We
do not construct our identities, we have it written for us; the subject cannot be sovereign over the
construction of selfhood. Instead the subject is decentered, in that its consciousness is always being
constructed from positions outside of itself. It follows then that the individual is not a transparent
representation of the self but an effect of discourse. Spivak argues that surprisingly for these figures,
when Foucault and Deleuze talks about oppressed groups such as the working classes they fall back
into precisely these uncritical notions of sovereign subjects by restoring to them a fully centred
consciousness. In addition they also assume that the writing of intellectuals such as themselves can
serve as a transparent medium through which the voices of the oppressed can be represented. The
intellectual is cast as a reliable mediator for the voices of the oppressed, a mothpiece through which
the oppressed can clearly speak. Spivak articulates her reasons for her worries in the first part of the
essay, applying MICHEL FOUCAULT s understanding of epistemic violence to the remotely
orchestrated, far flung, and heterogeneous project to

America Before We Get In-Depth Analysis
In my survey of the 25 international students, a lot of them had many words that explain America
before they came here, which were, opportunity, technology, freedom and pride. Then when I asked
them to give me their word that explain America since they have been here, they said, lazy, separated
and structured. This proves that they came to the United States with a mindset which the media only
showed them. For example, one of Lakeland College foreign exchange students by the name of
Nathaniel Cooper said that the first thing he ever saw about America was New York. Well, in America
New York is one the most attractive cities in the United States, from skyscrapers, to the colorful Time
Square. Before we get in depth with the problems of how

Willy Loman Flaws
The author Arthur Miller wrote the book Death of a Salesman and it tells the tale of a dysfunctional
family and its members. This family is comprised of Willy Loman, a salesman, Linda, Willy s wife
and mother of Biff and Happy, Biff, eldest son of Willy and Linda, and Happy, younger son of Willy
and Linda. Each of the characters in the book all have flaws such as Willy being suicidal, Linda being
an enabler, Biff being lost, and Happy being a liar. These flaws have created an atmosphere where
conflicts will occur time and time again. In fact, the main plot of the literary work revolves around
Willy, the salesmen, coming to turns that his whole life has been nothing but a lie that he gets caught
up in causing his son to confront him. The whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willy s mental instability from the neglect of his family and pathological lying has ruined the life of
all family. A product of this would be that Willy s children, Happy and Biff, both have character issues
such as being a womanizer and a thief respectively or his wife, Linda, who defends him even though
she knows he is an invalid husband. Willy refuses to acknowledge what he s done to the family and
when they confront him he says Spite, spite, is the word of your undoing! And when you re down and
out remember what did it (Miller 103). The man, Willy Loman, is clearly a poor father and husband
which he neglects but covers it with his career that has

Reflection On Saint Augustine s Confessions
Throughout this class, I have grown so much from where I was at the beginning of the year. I think
that because the class was a collective effort rather than an individual one, it was more motivation for
me to participate properly because people other than myself were relying on me. Due to the fact that
we had written questions and homework for every reading as well as had to use a great deal of textual
evidence throughout the discussions, I was constantly looking to refer back to the text, and make sure
that my argument fit in with the discussion. Therefore, I got the most out of outcome four, using the
discussion and the process of writing to enhance my intellectual discovery. Specifically, a reading that
I feel like I used this outcome the most for was Saint Augustine s Confessions. Once I got through the
initial confusion, through the discussion and especially the second essay helped me develop his ideas
of rightly ordered love . That, then became what I primarily based my exploration of the text off of. It
was important to use Written and Oral Communication for this reading to see how much of an impact
all the situations had on Saint Augustine. Therefore, being engaged in the reading, writing and asking
the right questions, and using the discussion to further my understanding of the text was a strong
lesson I learned from Seminar 2. In regards to the Critical Thinking learning outcome, I found that
making the application and evaluation questions helped me most with

  • 2. Johnny Cash Essay Johnny Cash was born on February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas. Cash was one of seven children born to his parents, Ray Cash and Carrie Cloveree. He was named J.R Cash at birth, but when he later enlisted in the US army he was not allowed use those initials. He then changed his name is John R.Cash and took Johnny Cash as his stage name. Johnny Cash was an American singer songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author, widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Jonny Cash was one of the first people to play in the American prisons. Cash preformed his first concerts for inmates in 1957 in Texas at the Huntsville State Prison. In 1958 he performed at San Quentin for the first time, where he influenced inmate Merle Haggard to join the prison country band and later make a band of his own called The Strangers. In 1966, he first performed in Folsom Prison for which he wrote the song Folsom Prison Blues Although Cash carefully cultivated a romantic outlaw image, he never served a prison sentence, even though he was in jail seven times for small offences, each stay lasted only a single night. His most well known encounter with the law happened while on tour in 1965, when he was arrested October 4 by a narcotics squad in El Paso, Texas. The officers suspected he was smuggling heroin from Mexico, but found instead 688 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Vapor Pressure The properties of freezing point, boiling point, vapor pressure, and osmotic pressure are properties that can be manipulated based on the ratio of a solute in a solution compared to the pure solvent. A pure solvent is generally a liquid compound that has the ability to dissolve other materials chemically. Decreased freezing point is the temperature at which the solution or solvent becomes solid, leaving the solute behind. The boiling point is how much it takes for the pressure of the water to become more than the atmospheric pressure or when the vapor pressure of the liquid becomes greater than the atmospheric pressure. Vapor pressure can be described in terms of the pressure rates of molecules going in or out of a state of liquid or gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A colligative property is the property of a solution that differs from the solute when an ionic compound is added to the solute and it depends on the ratio of dissolved particles to the solvent in a solution. Colligative properties are properties of a solvent and change with the presence of a solute, but these are properties that are independent of what the solvent and solute are. Freezing point is the temperature at which the solution or solvent becomes solid. An example of freezing point property in action is when salt is added to water and is spread on ice, causing the water and the ice to have a lower freezing point. As seen when brine is applied to roadways, the solvent water, when combined with the solute salt, the freezing point is lowered. The boiling point property is demonstrated when the pressure of the water becomes more than the atmospheric pressure, or when the vapor pressure of a liquid becomes greater than the atmospheric pressure in a closed environment. An example of ionic compounds in boiling would be to add salt to water when boiling water for cooking pasta. When the salt is added, the boiling point becomes higher, which in turn creates the potential to cook the pasta at a higher temperature to save time. Vapor pressure is the amount of pressure that is applied by the vapor in the air or in a contained environment on the substance from which it came. An example of vapor ... • 4. Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication In today s highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is a systemic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings. A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics, designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability, illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because a technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with specialized vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The process of cultural revival such as consolidating political identity, personal rights and recognition often consciously or unconsciously associated with the minorities. • 7. An analysis of porters value chain To analyse the specific activities through which firms can gain a competitive advantage, it is useful to model the firm as a chain of value creating activities. For this purpose, Porter identified a range of interrelated generic activities common to a wide range of firms. The resulting model is known as the value chain. According to Porter (1985), Competitive Advantage arises out of the way firms organise and arrange discrete activities . Through using the Value Chain, the activities performed by a firm competing in a particular industry can be grouped into categories as shown in the model below: Upstream Activities Downstream Activities Porter distinguishes between primary activities and support activities. Primary activities are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned, gaining competitive advantage requires that a firm s value chain be managed as a system rather than a collection of separate parts. Reconfiguring the value chain by relocation, reordering or even eliminating certain activities can often lead to a major improvement in competitive position. Upstream and Downstream A firm s value chain links to the value chains of the upstream suppliers and downstream buyers. The result is a larger stream of activities known as the value system. The development of a firm specific competitive advantage not only depends on the firms value chain but also on the value system of which the firm is a part. In most industries, it is rather unusual that a single company performs all activities from product design, production of components, and final assembly to delivery to the final user by itself. Most often, organisations are elements of a value system or supply chain. Hence, value chain analysis should cover the whole value system in which the organization operates. Within the whole value system, there is only a certain value of profit margin available. This is the difference of the final price the customer pays and the sum of all costs incurred with the production and delivery of the product/service. It depends on the structure of the value system, how this margin spreads across the suppliers, producers, distributors, customers, and other elements of the value system. • 8. Benito Mussolini, AKA Il Dulce Benito Mussolini, known as Il Duce, was the founder of the totalitarian form of government known as Fascism. However that was not enough recognition; Mussolini wanted to demonstrate to the world that he could be a successful ruler as well. Mussolini came to power and remained in power primarily due to the actions of the Italian Blackshirts. As the Blackshirts maintained law and order, terrorized political opponents, defended Italy, and marched on Rome, Mussolini successfully ruled as dictator. Controlled and led by Mussolini, the Italian Blackshirts also known as the Squadre d Azione, were made up of war veterans and young people led by ringleaders. The Blackshirt uniform consisted of a green jacket and trouser with a black shirt and tie. The green colors were similar to that of the army uniforms, but the black shirt and tie differentiated the Blackshirts from the other combat forces. The Blackshirts were first created on March 23, 1919 and played a vital role in the rule of Mussolini. Benito Mussolini s rise to power primarily relied on the Blackshirts march on Rome. On October 24, 1922, Mussolini hosted a Fascist convention in Naples as the reason for the March on Rome. There he declared, Either the government will be given to us, or we will seize it by marching on Rome. Mussolini s plan was to threaten to occupy the nation s capital of Rome with his forces, the Blackshirts, and pressure King Victor Emmanuel III into inviting him into the government. ... • 9. Lenore The Raven Literary Analysis Edgar Allen Poe s poem The Raven demonstrates the loneliness and depression the narrator is feeling after losing his love, Lenore. This is represented by the constant distractions he thinks he is hearing, only to realize that no one, nor nothing, is there. He then tries to distract himself from his misery, by entertaining a Raven that perched on his door who only iterates one word, nevermore. He finds himself intrigued by the Raven, whom he assumes is some sort of prophet, after he deciphers that it must have learned the word from a previous owner with some sort of melancholy illness. He begins to question the Raven of the possibility of an afterlife with Lenore; however, becomes enraged when the raven only responds to his questions with nevermore . He tells the Raven to leave and the Raven once again responds with nevermore . The tone of the poem is dismal and eerie. There is a lot of negative language in the poem. The author repeats the words nevermore and nothing more multiple times. Simply it is defined as the ranking of a particular gender, whether male or female, over the other and how they are treated based on their gender. Delinquent behaviours may also develop, such as crime when males find other ways of surviving in providing for themselves and their families. Society, on the other hand, is economically affected by the reduction in the workforce. Less people working in an economy, results in a decline in levels of production. Unemployed persons may also put a strain on the countries resources. This is the current state of Jamaica s economy. As society progresses and changes, the roles of males and females continue to change. Historically, Caribbean men were known to take part in manual work or attend schools, as academic excellence was seen as a male domain, while females did domestic work. Men were also given better paying jobs, while females had to work twice as hard to be qualified for those same jobs. In contemporary Caribbean society, the roles have interchanged and it appears that men are lagging in education as well as in job placements. Due to the history of the socialisation of males, it is evident in today s society that they are more likely to survive after not attending school than females, whose only other option is domestic labour. This is so because males are hardened to find other ways of making a living. (Chevannes, 1999) Figueroa (2004) identifies other minor factors which influence male underperformance such as: the absence of motivational factors, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Development Of Aging Or Mid Life Crisis There will come a time when one has to come to terms of aging or mid life crisis. According to Weaver (2009) the major psychological changes occur in childhood. The author also noted that Freud also mentioned that all stages of the psychosexual development are also completed in early childhood (pp.69). Freud and Freud also had differences when it referred to coming of age (Weaver, 2009). Jung saw mid life not as a crisis, but put the emphasis on growth and maturation (pp.70). Most of the clients that Freudians seen were experiencing neurosis, this put a different perspective on their adjustment to life, while Jung s patients were socially adaptable (Weaver, 2009). Jung did not see mid life crisis of balancing the self, social world with a deepening meaning. Jung thought that people of mid life, were developed, one side, of their life, and now lacks meaning (Weaver, 2009). Now the existentialist view was in contrast with the psychodynamic view and believed that people in this stage of life gravitating towards meanings and values (Frankl, 1967). This was evident of a study done in the 1960 at a Vienna Hospital; it showed that 55% existential frustration and half expressed life are meaningless (Frankl, 1967). Carl Rodgers had some similarities with Frankl s perspective on mid life crisis (pp.73). Rodgers looked at it from a humanistic approach, while asking existential question such as; What is my purpose? (pp. 73). Rodgers noted that the process of the coming of self is ... In 1956 Tony Bennett was shooting walking along The Serpentine in Hyde Park as his song Stranger in Paradise played. This was dispersed to TV stations in the UK and US. The Beatles first major motion picture A hard Day s Night in 1964 arguably set out the basic visual vocabulary of today s music videos. Penny Lane in 1967 used methods derived from underground and avant garde film to exemplify the song in an artful manner. 1970s In the UK the significance of Top of the Pops to promote a single created an environment of revolution and competition amongst bands and record labels as the show s producers placed strict limits on the number of videos it would use, consequently a good video would increase a song s sales. Feral children are the result of years of neglect and isolation. They are children who have been raised away from society in harsh and solitary conditions. These children are for the most part always mentally and socially underdeveloped. To understand feral children, one should examine how they respond to isolation, how they react to integration, and if they are able to acquire the skills they lost while being deprived of social interaction. Before we can examine the behavior of these children, we need to determine the root cause of this transgression. Growing up, these kids have very limited contact with other people, ... She was completely alone, and did not get to interact with anybody else during the time she was being kept, locked away in a dark room. Considering the fact that this was happening during an important stage in the developmental process, it had a great impact on Anna s cognitive ability. Once she was found, she was in a very bad state both physically and mentally. She was suffering from malnutrition as well as her muscles showed signs of atrophy. She was immobile, expressionless and indifferent to everything, (Davis 1). Atrophy is a condition in which the muscle and tissue rot away, meaning that Anna was very diseased and living in terrible conditions. She also didn t react to anything around her or any type of stimuli, revealing that her cognition was very slow, and something was wrong with her mentally. She eventually began to learn how to speak, but still never fully became a member of society, and died in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your tarsal bones will shift and your arch will change. Consistently wearing high heels can also affect the structure of your legs and lower back. The shift of your weight to the tip of your pedal means that your center of balance shifts forward as well. This leads to numerous problems throughout the inferior portion of the body. Once the destination would be reached, a moment that changed my family s life forever would occur; the day of my parent s wedding. First and foremost, I was wearing a mini replica of the bride s formal outfit, a tea length white dress that made me feel like a young princess. My small, dainty hands were wrapped around the handle of a basket that held delicate flowers. These flowers were to be dropped on the floor to symbolize an everlasting amount of good luck for the special couple. As I walked, one of my hands would let go of the handle to grab a handful of pink petals inside the basket. My hand moved to the side of my body, then I would open up my hand to let ... The irony that serves the end of each story is the final blow, which undoes the woman and finishes her life. Authors throughout literary history have used this devise to surprise and entertain the reader. Kate Chopin and Guy de Maupassant both utilize irony in their respective short stories The Story of an Hour and The Necklace. In each story a woman who is believed to be happy in the role of a proper Victorian and thus subservient female but ironically proves herself to be something other than the ideal woman of that society and instead is something altogether different. Both Louise Mallard and Mathilde Loisel belong to a period where woman was to be seen and not heard, to follow the will of their husbands and to suffer any unhappiness in silence. In the end ... We have lived next door to her and her family for over ten years and I never once took the time to learn about her life before she moved to America. With this being said, before this interview, I had no knowledge of the Philippine culture. Before this encounter I had no knowledge of the proclamation of Martial Law placed over the Philippines. Estrellita, the woman I interviewed and spent time with, explained how she was in her last year of nursing school when the President enacted this law. She claimed that those were very hard times for the country, but she had to remain strong and complete school. Once completing school she would be free to seek out an adventure in another country. Some customs never change, and that is the case for one of the strongest held customs of the Philippine culture. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have learned to be patient and listen well when speaking to a person who has a thick accent. Allow me to finish with a quotation from Nelson Mandela: No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than it s opposite (Ozdowski, 2013). • 40. American Aircraft Soviet Union Equipment Introduction While escorting three B 52s on April 2, 1972 United States Air Force EB 66 navigator Lt. Col. Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley of surface to air missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become proficient at downing American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the EB 66 crew, Hambleton parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his rank and prior held positions, Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command operations and was an expert in surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information made Hambleton a high value target for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American operation to retrieve just one pilot, the North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle behind their lines must be of high value and tried just as hard to prevent the American s from retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue became what would be the largest, longest, and most complex search and rescue operation during the Vietnam War. 1 History President Richard Nixon s policy on the war in Vietnam by the spring of 1972 had lead to a large draw down in American combat forces. During this draw down, the North Vietnamese Army was preparing for their largest attack of the war. On March 30, 1972, the Nguyen Hue Offensive was launched to take full advantage of the bad weather typical during monsoon season, offering low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, female characters are portrayed as weak to emphasize their vulnerability. Elizabeth s portrayed as a weak female, as shes referred to as nothing more than a gift for Victor s satisfaction. • 44. Can the Subaltern Speak Summary Can the Subaltern Speak? Summary Gayatri Spivak Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is an unsettling voice in literary theory and especially, postcolonial studies. She has describes herself as a practical deconstructionist feminist Marxist and as a gadfly . She uses deconstruction to examine how truth is constructed and to deploy the assertions of one intellectual and political position (such as Marxism) to interrupt or bring into crisis another (feminism, for example). In her work, she combines passionate denunciations of the harm done to women, non Europeans, and the poor by the privileged West with a persistent questioning of the grounds on which radical critique takes its stand. Her continual interrogation of assumptions can make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As poststructuralism would have it, human consciousness is constructed discursively. Our subjectivity is constructed by the shifting discourses of power which endlessly speak through us, situating us here and there in particular positions and relations. In these terms we are not the authors of ourselves. We do not construct our identities, we have it written for us; the subject cannot be sovereign over the construction of selfhood. Instead the subject is decentered, in that its consciousness is always being constructed from positions outside of itself. It follows then that the individual is not a transparent representation of the self but an effect of discourse. Spivak argues that surprisingly for these figures, when Foucault and Deleuze talks about oppressed groups such as the working classes they fall back into precisely these uncritical notions of sovereign subjects by restoring to them a fully centred consciousness. In addition they also assume that the writing of intellectuals such as themselves can serve as a transparent medium through which the voices of the oppressed can be represented. The intellectual is cast as a reliable mediator for the voices of the oppressed, a mothpiece through which the oppressed can clearly speak. Spivak articulates her reasons for her worries in the first part of the essay, applying MICHEL FOUCAULT s understanding of epistemic violence to the remotely orchestrated, far flung, and heterogeneous project to ... Then when I asked them to give me their word that explain America since they have been here, they said, lazy, separated and structured. This proves that they came to the United States with a mindset which the media only showed them. For example, one of Lakeland College foreign exchange students by the name of Nathaniel Cooper said that the first thing he ever saw about America was New York. • 47. Reflection On Saint Augustine s Confessions Throughout this class, I have grown so much from where I was at the beginning of the year. I think that because the class was a collective effort rather than an individual one, it was more motivation for me to participate properly because people other than myself were relying on me. Due to the fact that we had written questions and homework for every reading as well as had to use a great deal of textual evidence throughout the discussions, I was constantly looking to refer back to the text, and make sure that my argument fit in with the discussion. Therefore, I got the most out of outcome four, using the discussion and the process of writing to enhance my intellectual discovery. Specifically, a reading that I feel like I used this outcome the most for was Saint Augustine s Confessions. Once I got through the initial confusion, through the discussion and especially the second essay helped me develop his ideas of rightly ordered love . That, then became what I primarily based my exploration of the text off of. It was important to use Written and Oral Communication for this reading to see how much of an impact all the situations had on Saint Augustine. Therefore, being engaged in the reading, writing and asking the right questions, and using the discussion to further my understanding of the text was a strong lesson I learned from Seminar 2.
