Rising College Tuition in America
Rising College Tuition in America College Prices Soar Again! Budget Cuts Cause Even Higher
Tuition! Higher Education Now Even Less Affordable These are all statements that have been
seen all over the media: newspapers, magazines, television, and radio. (3 SV: SV) Rising college
tuition in America has been a problem for years. Many students drop out after a single year due
to the pricey costs of tuition. The rapid rise can be attributed to many aspects of the economy, not
just a single source. There have also been some propositions of how costs could be lowered, but
these have yet to be seen. The United States has gone into a tuition crisis. Tuition rates have been
on the rise since the start of colleges. In 1988, the average college tuitionwas about $2,800 for a
year of schooling. In 2008, that number had risen 130% to nearly $6,800 for one year; according
to Annalyn Censky of CNN Money, if the average income had raised the same amount, median
family earning would be roughly $77,000 a year, instead of the current $33,000. Americans are
making $400 less on average than they did in 1988 says Censky. Over the past twenty years, college
has risen 5% of the median family income from 12% to 17%; private colleges went from 27% to
47% says Economist.com. (1 SV; SV.) Tuition isn t the only thing rising at colleges: room, meals,
books, and other fees are rising as well. (4 SV: A,B,C,D.) This also takes its toll on families as well
as the students themselves. Many students

Lincoln Leadership Essay
In many people s eyes Lincoln was sought out to be a fantastic leader. Lincoln had a vision that
pertained to motivation and leadership style. Leading is all about motivation. As a leader your job
as a superior highly more important than your subordinates, because if you do not do your job, they
can not do theirs. Lincoln On Leadershipis divided into 4 separate sections. Throughout the chapters
there are numerous facts on Lincoln s leadership style. Lincoln had vision which helped him lead
by focusing on motivation and honesty.
First, Lincoln believed in communication as a form of motivation. The book starts off with a
chapter named Get out of the Office and circulate among groups. which is ideal as a famous quote
from lincoln is With public sentiment, nothing can fail. Without it, nothing can succeed. Which
means with opinions and communications you can achieve anything. This is a bold statement that
Lincoln backed up by living by it. More than half of Lincoln s time was occupied by meetings with
people and cabinet members assuring smoothing operations. As a leader, he urged people to do as
he did and keep communication circling. Building trust around the office or other workplace
creates motivation. Communication builds relationships among people. Persuade Rather Than

Rudyard Kipling Influences
Although there were many major influential authors in the Victorian Era Rudyard Kipling was
among the most influential of his time. Kipling was born on December 30, 1865 in Mumbai,
India then died in America on January 18, 1936 shortly after his seventieth Birthday. Kipling
wrote many famous poems and novels winning many awards and prizes. Kipling was even
nominated for the Noble Prize three times and then finally won in 1907. Since Kipling was
writing during the Victorian Era, you would think most of his works would contain themes of
peace and prosperity, but this was not the case; Kipling was known for many works that had an
ethnocentric outlook. Some of his most famous works are still read and used in historical
education today. The Jungle Book is read by kids everywhere and The White Man s Burden one of
Kipling s most controversial works are still studied today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

India was a prime place for Kipling and his siblings to grow up in, the busy markets and crowed
streets where what Kipling learned to know and love, but that all ended after Kipling s sixth
birthday when his mother sent him to receive British education in Seaside, England since there was
no family for Kipling to stay with in Britain at the time he was forced to stay with a foster
family. For Kipling, this time in his life was very hard it did not take Kipling very long to realize
that Mrs. Holloway was a terrible woman, she abused Kipling till he was eleven years old. That is
when his parents found out about what was happening in the foster home, they rushed back to
England to save their son. Kipling then attend a new school in Devon, England where he discovers
his love for writing and then became the editor for the school

Examples Of One Good Deed In The Count Of Monte Cristo
Everyone has done a good deed at one point in life. Some people do genuine good deeds, but
others do them for their own personal gains. In The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas
expresses the idea that one good deed deserves another using the characters, and their actions. He
shows how the characters at times do genuine and good deeds, and them doing good deeds for their
own purpose. Dumas provides examples of this when DantСђs does genuine good deeds for the
Morrel family, when Faria alone does a good deed for DantСђs while he was just there with Faria.
Dumas also provides an example of a falso good deed when the Count saves Heloise and her son
from some wild horses. Reasons for why the Count saved them is because they were pawns... Show

Abbe Faria helped DantСђs in countless ways. From teaching DantСђs everything he knows, to
calling him, his own son. Alas, my boy, Faria, smiling, human knowledge is quite limited. When
you ve learned mathematics, physics, history and three or four living languages I speak, you ll
know everything I do (49). You re my son! cried the old man (60). Faria also helps DantСђs solve
the mystery of why he was imprisoned, and tells him the location of the Spada treasure at the Isle
of Monte Cristo. Do you know who Monsieur Noirtier was? He was the deputy s father ... Yes, his
father, whose name is Noirtier de Villefort ... A dazzling light seemed to flash through DantС

brain and things which had until the remained dark and obscure now became crystal clear to him
(48), This piece of paper, my friend, said Faria, is my treasure, half of which belongs to you from
this day on (53). Faria helps DantСђs in all these ways, but DantСђs never helps Faria in the way
Faria has. The only thing DantСђs ever did for Faria was staying with him until Faria died and
becoming a son like figure for him. This is an example of a genuine good deed on Farias part, but
not on DantСђs . DantСђs never does a good deed for Faria or returns Farias

Light And Sugar Hypothesis
Analysis:
When evaluating the result from this investigation it is evident that the sugar light is the most
effective mix, based on the aspect of the plants grown by them. The Prediction in the hypothesis
was correct as the plant that grew the largest amount was the plant with both sugar and light,
however the statement that light was more valuable than sugar was shown to be incorrect. The first
prediction was clearly correct, as it can clearly be seen by comparing table (t, 1) and table (T, 6)
that the plant with sugar and light grew on average by .53cm in height while the one with only
sugar lost on average 1.66 cm in height, the plant with just light lost on average .33cm in height
and the plant with no sugar and no light grew only 2 cm in height. The factor of the amount of
roots that grew completely support the hypothesis as the roots of the plant that had sunlight and
sugar, as can clearly be seen by comparing (t, 1) and (t, 6) went up by 5 roots while the plant with
only sugar on average gained .66 roots, the plant with just light on average only gained 2.66 roots
and the plant with no sugar and no light on average gained 2 roots. This data also supports the
hypothesis that light is more important than sugar as the plants with light grew more root than the
plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sudoku is an additional inductive problem, requiring children to work systematically and logically
to find the answer, furthermore developing their perseverance and determination. However Lynce
and Ouakine(2006,p.1) stated the line of reasoning required [in Sudoku]to reach completion may
be difficult and each puzzle has a unique solution and does not require the use of trial and error or
guessing some children with poor attention spans or patience may struggle to complete the puzzles.
The Using and Applying Guidance Paper (DfES,2006) believe when children are acquiring
problem solving skills they should begin with inductive reasoning activities as they tend to have a
set answer and progress to deductive reasoning activities which involve a child investigating and
thinking logically to prove something true or false.
Stimulating and challenging problem solving activities elevate children s ability to reason. The
postage problem is an inductive activity which although it requires investigation, the problem has
a set outcome. The children work independently to answer word problems about posting packages
using a Royal mail postage pricing list this allows the children to develop their skills of deduction
and use the information to draw a conclusion. However some argue that word problems put
children who are not confident readers at a disadvantage and could impede

How The Body Works Is Incredibly Complex, But A Wonderful...
One Mischievous Little Organ
The way our body works is incredibly complex, but a wonderful thing that we are given. Without
everything working it would be hard to do simple tasks. When certain things do shut down or stop
working properly it can ruin a life. The littlest of organs can have an enormous effect on the body
which it did on me. The thyroid a small organ on the front of your neck gave me some serious
problems for about 2 years. From little things like sleep, appetite, and headaches it quickly scaled
to many more major things like heart palpations and severe dehydration. It may seem like
something useless in the body, but I will never forget what it caused, and how hard it was to
overcome it. That little organ did way more than it probably knew it could do which was giving me
a completely different outlook on life itself.
How could one simple thing do that to my entire body. I would ask later on when I finally
figured out who the culprit of my sickness was. That thyroid caused many problems around the
ages of 14 16. The first sign of this takes me back all the way to eighth grade where I was just
incredibly tired. I felt absolutely horrible physically I couldn t get out of bed, and it was hard to
do some simple tasks like walking. I would be out of school for two days when my mother who
thought it was the flu that was affecting eventually made an appointment for the doctor to get
whatever was causing me to be this sick figured out, so I could be back to shape.

Differences Can End Someone s Life in an Unusual Way This day started out for Valencia like any

and it hurt her heart deeply not knowing what was happening to her loving husband.
Valencia, or more known as Valencia Pilgrim, is the wife of Billy Pilgrim. She loves him very
much, and expresses her love for him very often, and to sometimes even extreme measures. Despite
expressing her love for him in public, she is not very comfortable with expressing her thoughts
about what she feels is important to them as a couple.

The drive was going fine, until she was crying so much that she missed a turn and slammed into
another car. Both her and the driver of the other car got out of the cars and were thankfully not
injured. The other car did not have much damage, but Valencia was not so lucky, as the back
end of her car was smashed in with the bumper barely hanging on. Both drivers had called 911,
and a police car was the first person to arrive on the scene, as it was a fairly rural road they were
driving on. The police officer seemed like a normal police officer, assessing the damage to both
cars, making sure no one was injured, and then getting both Valencia and the other drivers side of
the story.
It did not take too long for the police officer to get both sides of the story, but afterwards, the
police officer came back to question Valencia further. The police officer started off by asking
Valencia Why would you even try to drive in this emotional state? You saw what happened because
of it.
Valencia responded by yelling My husband is in the damn hospital, do you think I would just sit
and home and cry not knowing if my husband is okay?!?!?! The police officer tried to calm her
down by saying
Please calm down, ma am. Valencia then screams back,
How can I calm down in a time like this?!?!?!?
Ma am, the last that I ve heard, your husband is awake and stable at the hospital, he is going to be
fine.

Introduction
I.September 11 was a pivotal day that changed the world s opinion on the safety of air travel.
A.If surveyed pre 9/11, the average person would have said they felt airport security was adequate.
B.However, 13 years later the security debate continues as to whether we do enough to protect the
passengers, or if flying is any safer than it was before the terrorist attack.
II.Everyone wants flying to be safe, but the question is what is each person willing to invest for
their safety.
A.Is there a proper balance of time and money?
B.When does a security screen become an invasion of privacy?
C.Should passenger profiling be allowed?
III.With my mother working for the airlines, I have been exposed to all of the airline regulations
from being a frequent traveler since a very young age.
A.I travel far more than the average person, and have been through a variety of security protocols
not only in various domestic cities but many countries all over the world.
B.I have noticed vast differences between different airport s securities, and wanted to further
research the two different sides of the airport security debate.
IV.Therefore, I would like to present the different sides of having stricter airport security as well as
some of the arguments about recent implications of policies post 9/11.
A.After hearing the different sides of the debate, I hope to hear some of your opinions regarding
the topic.

you prefer to work with a partner? If you choose to work with a partner then the best business
structure for you would be the partnership structure. First you must ask yourself; do we have the
same vision or objectives on how to run the business? Are we able to communicate well with each

Having discretionary time, more contacts, support and motivation is a big plus when starting a
business. The right partnership has these qualities. When one needs time to spend with family
and friends or even just to get the most important things dealing with the business done, having a
partner is a good ideal because days or weeks can be rotated among the two. By bringing on a
partner, you acquire a new network of contacts and potential customers. If one partner was to
died or become physical impaired while in the partnership agreement the other partner can take
over the business completely or choose to sell the other partner s half of the business (Price,
2012). With sole proprietorship if the owner becomes impaired or dies the business can result in
termination because there is no one to take over the business (LaMance, 2013) If you are a team
player, I say go for the partnership, but talk things over with your potential partner before making
any decisions. Now if you choose to go in it alone with the sole proprietorship keep in mind that
some investors think businesses started under the sole proprietorship are less professional than any
other structure that consist of two or more people. Works Cited Partnership: Pros and Cons. (2014).

A malignant neoplasm is the medical terminology for Cancer, there are many types of cancers,
however, they all are comprised of unregulated cells that show growth or a change. These cells

The Most First Generation Filipino Americans
San Francisco today is not the same place it was hundreds of years ago. This is obvious in terms
of the city s modernization, but a change that is equally as important, is the huge amount of
diversity in cultures. Chances are, if you were to ask a student at Skyline College if their parents

story of how they ended up in San Francisco, but the most important are the stories of the very

colonial period began and immigration to the States was pushed in many different aspects of
everyday Filipino culture. Another reason for leaving the Philippines was due to the economic

all throughout the Philippines, and many labor recruiters assured natives that money could be made
quickly in the states.
The first batch of Filipino immigrants who ended up in San Francisco was relatively small and
consisted mostly of students. Travelling from the Philippines to the San Francisco was tough, as
it was expensive to pay for and was a long distance from home. The trip from the Philippines to
San Francisco took nearly a month by ship, meaning their stay would be long term. Those brave
enough to travel to America did so in hopes of living a more prosperous life than they did in the
Philippines.
Of the immigrants that arrived in San Francisco, a good number of them ended up relocating to
states with more of a focus on agriculture, where they were responsible for taking care of the
fields. However, there were a number of those who preferred urban life that ended up staying in
San Francisco. For those that stayed in San Francisco, they were situated in apartments around and

Persuasive Essay On Condoms
Introduction
Condoms were invented to prevent pregnancies, centuries ago. They have gone through many
changes in materials over time, but the use has usually been the same, with the exception of them
also being used to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections. However, that just might not
be the case. You see, condoms are not even 100% effective in their purpose. Women still wind up
getting pregnant when their male partners use a condom. The availability of condoms for people
also allows teenagers to experiment with sex. Most important, condom users believe that they are
indeed safe from sexually transmitted infections and then proceed to be more experimental, and
then end up in unsafe acts. With all of those risks, there has ... Show more content on

(Pappas, 2012). Those are statistics that I never remember hearing during any sort of sex talk from
when I was growing up.
Buying Condoms
When it comes to buying condoms, there is just such an easy way to get them. There is no age
restriction on them, and most of them are cheap to get. A twelve pack of condoms averages to
be around twelve dollars. (Teen rights to sex ed, 2011). That is like a week s allowance. Any
curious kid could go to any grocery store and get a pack. That would lead to a young generation
having sex. Younger people getting this sort of experience can be detrimental to their lives. They
could get used to having sex and it could end up becoming more of a recreational activity for
them. If that behavior is continued then they may end up with the feeling that they do not need to
wear condoms anymore. In 2011, the CDC s Youth Risk Behavior Survey had reported that 47.4%
have had sex before, and 63.1% of the seniors were having sex. Those seniors reported a lower
number of condom users than 9th and 10th graders. That means the older the teens were, the more
likely they were not to use them. This means that these older teens are exposing themselves to the
dangers of unprotected sex.
Irresponsible Sex That bulletproof mentality that some will acquire from having protected sex,
could be dangerous for some. The condom is intended for preventing pregnancies; however, some

Vengeance In Beowulf
Vengeance is punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong. So is it ever
really right, weather morally right or just all together right? Everyone has their reasons some no
one understand. But in other cases we feel as if we were in that situation we would have done
things the same way. In BeowulfI think Grendel s mother was morally right in seeking vengeance.
I believe that Grendel s mother was right for many reasons. If you were a mother who just lost a
child you would have hate in you heart, you would want the person who caused the lost of your
child to pay for what he or she has done. You would want them to feel just as much pain as you
did. So just think how Grendel s mother felt to find out her son had been killed.

begins at $38,260. Choose all wheel drive and your MKX will start at $40,755.
As tested, my Reserve model came with a $47,650 base price and topped out at $63,535. Lincoln
doesn t offer official trim levels, calling them equipment groups instead. Standard, Premiere and
Reserve groups are offered; a special high end Black Label package is also available.
Instead of the standard 3.7 liter, naturally aspired V 6 engine, the test model received the 2.7 liter,
turbocharged V 6 engine, an option that immediately adds $2,000 to your cost.
Reaching the final price came through still more upgrades, including the special bronze fire
metallic paint ($495), a cargo utility package ($395), climate package ($595), technology
package ($1,720), driver assist package ($1,650), luxury package ($4,400), second row
inflatable seat belts ($250), 21 inch polished aluminum wheels ($1,300), and adaptive steering
($625). The 22 way power driver s seat was yet another option, this one coming in at $1,500. All
told, Lincoln added nearly $15,000 in options to a model that already had a price premium topping
$7,500 over the standard all wheel drive issue.

Involvement Plan For Family Analysis
Family Involvement Plan
Multiculturalism in today s society has become more prominent and something that needs to be
addressed based on specific as well as on an individual level based on many different aspects.
There are lots of different actions that can be taken, classes, seminars, books, internet webinars and
such. However; I believe that none of this is effective without the interaction and hands on
approach from the parents, famiies, teachers and the school administration itself. We can all sit
back and quarterback a situation, but until it is in our own lap, we don t know how or what we
would do to assure that the children that this effects is provided with the equal educational

We currently use a Parent Teacher Partnerhip program. We create classroom study teams where
parents and sudents get together to form study groups. This not only familiarizes families with
one another, but also gets them involved in their childs learning in a fun way. We have school
advisory groups where parents can go for advice or help where they feel at a loss or are just
looking for guidance. Multicultural planning sessions have also bee a success. I have to say that
one of the most effective and easiest to put into place and keep up with in our already crazy
school day is the Parents as Resource Persons group. This group provides cultural items such as
pictures, recipes and experiences to the classroom. The teacher then integrates learning from the
derived materials creating reading lists, learning centers and even have gone as far as to create a
cultural fair. A few other things that I found to be interesting and feel would be a great asset are a
School Family Curriculum. This group provides those in need with various items to stimulate
conversation about their cultures. There are also Anti Bias Alert programs which will alert parents
when television programs are appropriate or inappropriate to view based on cultural diversity.

March Madness is one of my favorite times of year! It would be an honor to cover March Madness!
Where are you from? Can you cover the Euroleague, International Leagues, and other foreign
basketball activities frequently?
I m from Connecticut, and I don t normally watch International leagues (except for the olympics),
so this could be a challenge.
Do you show bias towards playoff bound teams? Meaning can you cover low class teams such as
the Charlotte Bobcats?
Well like I said, I m a huge Heat fan and I love to debate so I wouldn t turn my back against them.
But, I can cover low class teams. In fact, I think the Bobcats have a lot of raw young talent. They
have Kemba, DJ Augustin, Tyrus Thomas, Gerald Henderson, etc. I think these fresh legs brings
for an up tempo fun to watch game, so I definitely think I can cover low class teams.
Name any and all things we should know about you.
Well I play basketball, I work at a basketball camp, I ve won many awards, I know lots of fun facts,

Drug Trafficking Papers
Drug Trafficking
Drug trafficking is the production of drugs done illegally that violate the drug prohibition laws.
Throughout the years, drug trafficking has been progressing and expanding to the point to where it
is now worldwide. Organizations involved in drug trafficking have been improving their networks,
constantly upgrading their transportation and equipment, having new methods to transport the
drugs and communication throughout the system, and finding information on their employees to
use against them which makes it harder for law enforcement to keep up and take action to reduce
the problem of drug trafficking.
The illegal transportation of drugs started to become serious whenever the Medellin Cartel
began to dominate the cocaine business. The Medellin Cartel was ran by the Ochoa Vazquez
brothers Jorge Luis, Juan David, and Fabio; Pablo Escobar, Carlos Lehder, George Jung, and
Jose Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha. In 1975, the Colombian police found 600 kilos of cocaine
stashed in a plane. Drug traffickers responded to the police by killing 40 people in one weekend
which is known as the Medellin Massacre. The massacre led to the uprising of various killings,
assassinations, kidnappings, and the discovery of a hit list that contained U.S. businessmen,
embassy members, and their families. It was then when violence was beginning to grow in Miami
and drug traffickers were involved, that the Vice President of the United States, George H.W. Bush,

On that first Saturday in June 2012, my teammates and I fulfilled our life long goals of winning
a state championship together and proving to the people that did not believe in us that we could
do it. On that day, those fifteen guys I had grown up through grade school with were no longer
just teammates and friends, they became brothers to me. Another reason Huntington Park is so
special to me is because I was the final pitcher in both championships, meaning I had the ball in
my hand when the game was on the line. Standing on the mound in front of ten thousand people
with all eyes looking at you is a nerve racking feeling but there was no better feeling then being
the guy that our coach trusted to bring home the trophy for our team. Lastly, this baseball
stadium known as Huntington Park is so special to me because after receiving that trophy and
medal for winning the championship I also received my high school diploma at home plate
because our team missed the graduation ceremony. There are not many people in the world that
can say they received their high school diploma on the same field they won a state
championship. Huntington Park may not be a special place for anyone else but it will always be
a special place for my teammates and myself. Those two days our dreams became realities and
that is something we will all look back and cherish forever. Whether it s passing by the stadium in

Taking a Look at Manipulative Advertising
The meaning of advertising is the act or practice of calling public attention to one s product,
service, need, etc (cited in Collins English Dictionary). It has various forms such as televisions,
newspapers, magazines, radios, mobiles, books, mailboxes, and through the networks. Advertising
has become a part of our daily lives, and it affects our way of life because advertisements are
everywhere: in the streets, supermarkets, shops and malls. In fact, advertisingis one of the most
influential marketing methods on consumers in the commercial field. It is also an important source
of information before buying any product. However, advertising has become a way for traders to
manipulate the consumers, and that has a lot of risks on the individual and the community.
Advertising industry should grow for the need of informing the consumers about the products not to
deceive then by marketing tricks. Nowadays, advertising targets consumers to manipulate them
more than informing them with the needed facts about what they buy because it is achieved by
marketing fallacies and tricks and it causes many troubles in the community.
It has been argued that the reason for using manipulation rather than the information in the
advertising world is to achieve the financial purposes in trade. The interests and commercial
ambitions are good ways to use manipulation in the exploitation of consumers by traders. One of
these goals is profit. Corporate business profitability always seeks the best

Examples Of Racial Discrimination In Huckleberry Finn
Racial discrimination can be best defined as treating someone unfairly based on their race. The
American social issue in the story Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , by Mark Twain, is racial
discrimination. This story takes place along the mississippi river during the 1830 s, a time where
racism was very strong in the south. African Americans during that time period were treated very
poorly just because of their skin. The social issue of racial discriminationin this story is still
relevant today and can be seen in the articles written by S.J. Prince, Mike Snider, and Genevieve
Bookwalter. S.J. Prince in his article, WATCH: Man in Wheelchair Assaults Man in Airport for

Globalization Assignment
Written Assignment Unit 7
POLS 1503 Globalization
Introduction
As our world becomes more connected, the free travel of people and goods continue to rise in
dramatic fashion. There are many benefits such as increased trade, improved access to imported
goods, increased tourism and exposure to new cultures. With these benefits comes a risk of bringing
diseases across international borders. International travel and trade has brought new challenges to
public health care, and the threat of deadly illnesses spreading rapidly.
If the movement of people, food, and manufactured goods can have such a negative impact on
public health, should steps be taken to reduce these flows?
There are always risks with travel and imports. The benefits to the economy and increased access
to goods are worth the risks. However, in cases of emergency, it is completely reasonable to limit
trade and travel from affected areas. When cases of mad cow disease are detected, it is common to
block imports from the affect nations (Levin Institute, 2017a). During the outbreak of ebola in
Africa in 2014, the Obama administration opted for a temporary travel ban from west
Africa (Roberts, 2014). During the threat of an epidemic spreading across borders, extreme
measures have to be taken.
What other options are there for lowering the spread of global diseases?
International public health officials have made recommendations to help prevent the spread of
disease. These actions include a plan to monitor for new

Liberal democracy, otherwise known as a Representative democracy , is a political ideology and
form of government; most commonly found in western countries. The ideal outcome of a liberal
democracy is seen as a completely democratic and equal society. A liberal democracy is
characterized by some key features that attempt to ensure a free and fair country for all those who
reside there, said characteristics include; separation of powers, free, fair and competitive elections,
checks balances, protection of human rights, civil rights, etc. and a rule of law.

Underrepresented In Women s Sports
For generations, viewers prefer to watch men play sports rather than women. But people
occasionally do watch women s sports if the sport involves women wearing revealing clothing and
the players is extremely attractive. There is only a small amount of viewers who would not only
acknowledge the female player s appearance, but also their skills. However, men s sports are more

Women s sports are underreported and underrepresented in television sports news. In recent studies
from Dr. Wayne Wilson states that men s sports received ninety five percent of the air time, women
only received at least five percent, and gender neutral topics received about one percent of air time.
Televised sports news should provide more coverage of existing women s sports. This statistic
points out that women are basically less valuable and less interesting than men.
The reason for why women are underrepresented is because sponsors are unwilling to finance

less chance to expose their skills and have the lack of financial rewards which means that many

Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay
The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early
and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity
to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance
behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to
the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications
(Chapman Durham, 2010).
Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women
becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment,
treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman
Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and
Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least
thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first
28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG,
2016). Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care,
beginning in the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal

The Importance Of Firing Firearms
The Second Amendment gives American citizens the right to keep and bear arms. Many people
own firearms, whether it is a handgun, rifle, or shotgun, but not everyone knows how they
function. The process is a bit more complex than to pull a trigger, some magic happens, and the
projectile accelerates out of the barrel of the firearm. Every person who owns a firearm should be
educated on the physics of how a firearm functions. Once you are confident with your shot on a
target, pull the trigger. The specific mechanics from the trigger to the hammer or firing pin are
different because it depends on the type of firearm and the company the manufactures it. However,
pulling the trigger will produce the same end result for all firearms. The trigger will release the

The cartridge is the ammunition that is placed into the chamber of the firearm. Each firearm is
designed to fire a certain caliber cartridge. Each caliber ensures a tight fit in the chamber of its
assigned firearm, which will not allow any gases to escape once fired. Firing the wrong caliber
cartridge could result in a gun jam, or you could destroy the firearm. Bullet cartridges are a
combination of a projectile (bullet), a propellant (gunpowder), and a primer (explosive cap), all
contained in a metal casing. The spark ignites the gunpowder. Most people believe that it is the
explosion that propels the projectile; however, this theory is false. When the powder ignites, it
releases gases that expand and push on the projectile. Sir Isaac Newton s third law of motion,

Religion And Its Effect On Society
Religion plays a large role in today s society, it s used to comfort us in our greatest times of need
as well as explain seemingly unknowable questions, such as what is the meaning of life, why are
we here, what happens when we die, why do we suffer but now as in the past religion can be a
harmful factor in our society. It has been the cause of wars, witch hunts, and proliferated
superstition. Today there are such laws that allow a parent to deny their child adequate medical
care even if it s to treat a potentially life threatening illness. In other cases religionis cited as a
reason to deny someone access to birth control. In school s modern science is at times having to
contend with creationism which seems to be a reinterpreting of modern science and is in
complete opposition with established facts. Other times such things as sex education is taught
inaccurately which then leaders to things such as high rates of teen pregnancies and STD s
spreading. In other countries these actions are at times more extreme such as when we hear
about suicide bombings, honor killing, and the like. In this paper I will discuss a few of these
topics that I find to be pertinent, yet the topics are many. I will discuss the harms that such
actions can cause to us as a society both socially and physically due to such harmful laws, I will
also discuss the social reasons as to why such actions are performed in the first place and why they

Inner City Writing Center Essay
A test of success is when the odds are stacked against you. Inner city high schools face this
problem on a daily basis. When it comes to the formation of writing centers, high schools,

However, by using unique tools and relationships collaboration between high schools and local
universities, choosing the proper tutors, and a unique writing center setting inner city high schools
across the nation have been able to develop successful writing centers. Developing writing centers
in inner city school systems can be especially difficult. In a time of decreased attention on inner
city school systems, many schools in metropolitan areas face severe budget crises. With their
budgets stretched thin, many inner city schools do not have the means or money to develop and
run a writing center program for their students. Many government planners and local politicians are

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Education
In our world, technology has marked its own impact in our society. Since the birth of the digital age,
technology has only advanced and has lessened many difficulties previously imposed on earlier
centuries. Whether noticeable or not, technology is connected to every single action and
transaction in our world today. Mechanics, purchasing, communications, agriculture, and education
are few fields where technology have been implemented in. Technology has awarded consumers the
opportunity to purchase items from any location, allows for the exchange of information through
individuals, and led to productivity and accuracy in the agricultural field. However, the use of
technology has been misunderstood in its relationship with education. Opponents of technology in
terms education can state that it is the primary cause that literacyrates have decreased in recent
years, since technology can distract from literacy development or academic engagement. The
question arises is technology detrimental to literacy development and engagement or is it
beneficial. Should technology and the digital age be reevaluated in its effectiveness in literacy
development and academic engagement? Absolutely, technology should be reevaluated in
effectiveness in literacy development due to the fact it provides more opportunities then barriers.
When evaluating ideas, we should look at the pros and the cons; and if the pros outweighs the cons
the ideas should be accepted as the influential. Technology has made literacy development more
adaptable, led to the development of new literacy skills such as critical thinking and research skills,
while providing personal instruction. A benefit of technology in literacy development is that it can
reach students with learning disabilities or challenges than traditional texts. Students with learning
disabilities such as dyslexia, or ADHD are not able to sit down over a long period of time and read
a traditional text due to challenges imposed. To properly gain an understanding of a text time must

Gallardo pitched an uninspiring four innings of ten hit ball, allowing seven earned runs against
this Astros team. The Astros have been swinging the bats well as of late as the Rangers saw last
night and they ll certainly be confident heading into tonight. If Gallardo does have one thing going
for him, it s that he usually keeps the ball in the park. In his last ten starts he has only given up
three home runs, two of which did come in his last start though... Show more content on

It was supposed to be Mike Fiers but Houston manager A.J. Hinch opted to use him out of the
pen last night. Straily has only made two starts this year, both of which coming in early July. He
wasn t overly impressive in either of them, allowing four earned runs and two earned runs
respectively. In Straily you can expect a fastball in the lower 90 s to the upper 80 s and a slider
and changeup to keep hitters off balance. He certainly won t blow anything by Rangers hitters
tonight, but rather he ll try and paint the corners and get hitters to chase out of the strike zone. In
Triple A he had a 3.65 ERA over 17 outings and I look for Rangers hitters to get after him

The Lion And The Jewel By Soyina Analysis
Wole Soyinka is a Nigerian writer, who explores the cultures and traditions of Yoruba, a Nigerian
culture in this play The Lion and the Jewel . The main aim of this study is to evaluate Soyinka s
play. Soyinka tries to bring out the conflict between the tradition and the western culture. The
concept of Post colonialismis clearly depicted in the character of Baroka, whose character
represents the attitude of a Lion. The complete play occurs in a single day. Within this short time
of period Soyinka explains us how the domination of a single person affects the group of people
in the Illunjile village. He also insisted the character Lakunle, a modernized school teacher who is
straight opposite to the character Baroka. Sidi is the central female character, an eighteen years old
girl, attracts both traditional Baroka and westernized Lakunle. The main confrontation between
North Pole and South Pole exist till the end of the play due to the character Sidi. Sadiku, the first
wife of Baroka eagerly involved herself in marrying Sidi. This explainsthe old tradition... Show

Later her decision made the turning point as well as a very great conclusion which clearly
demonstrate the truth that she underwent a several psychological pains. And if we keenly notice
her character from the first we never suspect this end, but we can criticize easily that she is
affected by suppression, she lost her dreams everything. Sadiku as a first wife of Baroka searched
a wife for her own husband, even though he is lost his manhood. Though she portrayed as a
character who is very much interested in searching a girl for her husband but as a women. This
situation torments her lot which is not exposed by

Lt Audie L. Murphy
Retype the title of your paper here, leaving the Title style For over hundreds of years men have
lost their lives fighting for their country and what they believe in. Everyday, the battle ground is
enhanced as technology proves to become more hi tech throughout the many years of war known
to man. Back in WWII, service members were not so reluctant to have the same luxuries as we do
today during war. The least to say, a legend at his best, LT. Audie L. Murphy fought alongside
with the 3rd Infantry Division with only one objective in mind. This battle, The One Man Stand
at Holtzwihr, is a memory to be told and a legend to be lived on. First Lt Audie L. Murphy of
Company B, 15th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division was in for the fight of his life on a cold and
frigid January day in 1945. The role in this offensive for the Division was to advance near Bois
de Riedwihr. This was a large stretch of forest between the villages of Riedwihr and Holtzwihr.
Outnumbered by a couple hundred Germans and tanks, Lt Murphy put his life ahead of the
wellbeing of his men to fend off the offensive attack by the German forces. This battle depicts
exactly what it means in regards to Selfless Service and Personal Courage. It was a cold and frigid
January afternoon in 1945 in the outskirts of Holtzwihr. Company B decimated with little men left
alive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technological advances throughout the world leave countries fighting for the top spot. Although a
plane crash ended the life of LT. Audie L. Murphy, his spirit and legacy lives on today.
Establishments being named after him would only be the least to say. Among the most highest
clubs in the United States Army falls the Audie Muprhy Club. To be inducted into this club is only
of the most highest respect from others. Even though many men had lost their lives on that cold day
in Holtzwihr, the memories of one of the most respected battles during World War Two continues to

Dietary Analysis of Sympatric Mammalian Carnivores in the...
Resource partitioning occurs amongst animals that share the same resources, such as food and
space (Shoener 1974), and allows for their coexistence (May 1973). The different utilization of
spatial, temporal, and trophic niches between sympatric species allows for their partitioning of
resources (JГЎcomo et al. 2004). Difference in body mass is one of the factors that contribute to
the coexistence of species in that different sized animals will generally eat different sized food
items, therefore utilizing different resources and reducing competition (Wilson 1975; JГЎcomo et
al. 2004). In the case of predatory carnivores, as predator body mass increases, the size of their prey
increases (Gittleman 1985; VГ©zina 1985). Differences in body... Show more content on

The diets of the remaining mesocarnivores are relatively similar in that they all primarily prey on
small to medium sized lagomorphs and rodents, with fishers having an affinity for porcupines.
The remainder of the mesocarnivore diet consists of reptiles, birds, carrion, and with the
exception of bobcats, fruit and insects (Cavallini et al. 2009). In this study, the diets of these
carnivores in Keweenaw County will be analyzed to determine prey partitioning through scat
analyses and the use of scent stations. Specifically, the hypotheses tested will be that black bears
will consume primarily plant material, gray wolves will feed primarily on large ungulates, and
amongst the mesocarnivores, predator body mass will correlate with prey size. In particular, the
larger coyotes and bobcats will feed primarily on medium sized mammalian prey, such as
snowshoe hares and cottontail rabbits, and the smaller red foxes, fishers, and American martens
will feed primarily on smaller prey, such as voles, mice, and squirrels, along with porcupines in the
fisher diet. Methods Study Area The 1,400 square kilometer study area is Keweenaw County,
located in Michigan s northwestern Upper Peninsula, which comprises the very northern tip of the
Keweenaw Peninsula jutting into southern Lake Superior (Binford 2006; Fig. 1). A range of low
mountainsrun parallel to the western coast of Keweenaw County and form five ridges with
intervening stream

Higher Education Now Even Less Affordable These are all statements that have been seen all over the media: newspapers, magazines, television, and radio. (3 SV: SV) Rising college tuition in America has been a problem for years. Many students drop out after a single year due to the pricey costs of tuition. The rapid rise can be attributed to many aspects of the economy, not just a single source. There have also been some propositions of how costs could be lowered, but these have yet to be seen. The United States has gone into a tuition crisis. Tuition rates have been on the rise since the start of colleges. In 1988, the average college tuitionwas about $2,800 for a year of schooling. In 2008, that number had risen 130% to nearly $6,800 for one year; according to Annalyn Censky of CNN Money, if the average income had raised the same amount, median family earning would be roughly $77,000 a year, instead of the current $33,000. Americans are making $400 less on average than they did in 1988 says Censky. Over the past twenty years, college has risen 5% of the median family income from 12% to 17%; private colleges went from 27% to 47% says Economist.com. (1 SV; SV.) Tuition isn t the only thing rising at colleges: room, meals, books, and other fees are rising as well. (4 SV: A,B,C,D.) This also takes its toll on families as well as the students themselves. Light And Sugar Hypothesis Analysis: When evaluating the result from this investigation it is evident that the sugar light is the most effective mix, based on the aspect of the plants grown by them. The Prediction in the hypothesis was correct as the plant that grew the largest amount was the plant with both sugar and light, however the statement that light was more valuable than sugar was shown to be incorrect. The first prediction was clearly correct, as it can clearly be seen by comparing table (t, 1) and table (T, 6) that the plant with sugar and light grew on average by .53cm in height while the one with only sugar lost on average 1.66 cm in height, the plant with just light lost on average .33cm in height and the plant with no sugar and no light grew only 2 cm in height. The factor of the amount of roots that grew completely support the hypothesis as the roots of the plant that had sunlight and sugar, as can clearly be seen by comparing (t, 1) and (t, 6) went up by 5 roots while the plant with only sugar on average gained .66 roots, the plant with just light on average only gained 2.66 roots and the plant with no sugar and no light on average gained 2 roots. The littlest of organs can have an enormous effect on the body which it did on me. The thyroid a small organ on the front of your neck gave me some serious problems for about 2 years. • 24. Drug Trafficking Papers Drug Trafficking Drug trafficking is the production of drugs done illegally that violate the drug prohibition laws. Throughout the years, drug trafficking has been progressing and expanding to the point to where it is now worldwide. Organizations involved in drug trafficking have been improving their networks, constantly upgrading their transportation and equipment, having new methods to transport the drugs and communication throughout the system, and finding information on their employees to use against them which makes it harder for law enforcement to keep up and take action to reduce the problem of drug trafficking. The illegal transportation of drugs started to become serious whenever the Medellin Cartel began to dominate the cocaine business. The Medellin Cartel was ran by the Ochoa Vazquez brothers Jorge Luis, Juan David, and Fabio; Pablo Escobar, Carlos Lehder, George Jung, and Jose Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha. In 1975, the Colombian police found 600 kilos of cocaine stashed in a plane. Drug traffickers responded to the police by killing 40 people in one weekend which is known as the Medellin Massacre. The massacre led to the uprising of various killings, assassinations, kidnappings, and the discovery of a hit list that contained U.S. businessmen, embassy members, and their families. It was then when violence was beginning to grow in Miami and drug traffickers were involved, that the Vice President of the United States, George H.W. Bush, and government officials ... On that day, those fifteen guys I had grown up through grade school with were no longer just teammates and friends, they became brothers to me. Another reason Huntington Park is so special to me is because I was the final pitcher in both championships, meaning I had the ball in my hand when the game was on the line. Standing on the mound in front of ten thousand people with all eyes looking at you is a nerve racking feeling but there was no better feeling then being the guy that our coach trusted to bring home the trophy for our team. Lastly, this baseball stadium known as Huntington Park is so special to me because after receiving that trophy and medal for winning the championship I also received my high school diploma at home plate because our team missed the graduation ceremony. • 26. Taking a Look at Manipulative Advertising The meaning of advertising is the act or practice of calling public attention to one s product, service, need, etc (cited in Collins English Dictionary). It has various forms such as televisions, newspapers, magazines, radios, mobiles, books, mailboxes, and through the networks. Advertising has become a part of our daily lives, and it affects our way of life because advertisements are everywhere: in the streets, supermarkets, shops and malls. In fact, advertisingis one of the most influential marketing methods on consumers in the commercial field. It is also an important source of information before buying any product. However, advertising has become a way for traders to manipulate the consumers, and that has a lot of risks on the individual and the community. Advertising industry should grow for the need of informing the consumers about the products not to deceive then by marketing tricks. Nowadays, advertising targets consumers to manipulate them more than informing them with the needed facts about what they buy because it is achieved by marketing fallacies and tricks and it causes many troubles in the community. It has been argued that the reason for using manipulation rather than the information in the advertising world is to achieve the financial purposes in trade. The benefits to the economy and increased access to goods are worth the risks. However, in cases of emergency, it is completely reasonable to limit trade and travel from affected areas. When cases of mad cow disease are detected, it is common to block imports from the affect nations (Levin Institute, 2017a). Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham, 2010). Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women becomes pregnant until birth. Every person who owns a firearm should be educated on the physics of how a firearm functions. Once you are confident with your shot on a target, pull the trigger. Since the birth of the digital age, technology has only advanced and has lessened many difficulties previously imposed on earlier centuries. Whether noticeable or not, technology is connected to every single action and transaction in our world today. Mechanics, purchasing, communications, agriculture, and education are few fields where technology have been implemented in. Technology has awarded consumers the opportunity to purchase items from any location, allows for the exchange of information through individuals, and led to productivity and accuracy in the agricultural field. However, the use of technology has been misunderstood in its relationship with education. Opponents of technology in terms education can state that it is the primary cause that literacyrates have decreased in recent years, since technology can distract from literacy development or academic engagement. The question arises is technology detrimental to literacy development and engagement or is it beneficial. Should technology and the digital age be reevaluated in its effectiveness in literacy development and academic engagement? Absolutely, technology should be reevaluated in effectiveness in literacy development due to the fact it provides more opportunities then barriers. When evaluating ideas, we should look at the pros and the cons; and if the pros outweighs the cons the ideas should be accepted as the influential. Technology has made literacy development more adaptable, led to the development of new literacy skills such as critical thinking and research skills, while providing personal instruction. A benefit of technology in literacy development is that it can reach students with learning disabilities or challenges than traditional texts. This battle depicts exactly what it means in regards to Selfless Service and Personal Courage. It was a cold and frigid January afternoon in 1945 in the outskirts of Holtzwihr. Company B decimated with little men left alive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technological advances throughout the world leave countries fighting for the top spot. Even though many men had lost their lives on that cold day in Holtzwihr, the memories of one of the most respected battles during World War Two continues to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Dietary Analysis of Sympatric Mammalian Carnivores in the... Resource partitioning occurs amongst animals that share the same resources, such as food and space (Shoener 1974), and allows for their coexistence (May 1973). The different utilization of spatial, temporal, and trophic niches between sympatric species allows for their partitioning of resources (JГЎcomo et al. 2004). Difference in body mass is one of the factors that contribute to the coexistence of species in that different sized animals will generally eat different sized food items, therefore utilizing different resources and reducing competition (Wilson 1975; JГЎcomo et al. 2004). In the case of predatory carnivores, as predator body mass increases, the size of their prey increases (Gittleman 1985; VГ©zina 1985). Differences in body... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diets of the remaining mesocarnivores are relatively similar in that they all primarily prey on small to medium sized lagomorphs and rodents, with fishers having an affinity for porcupines. The remainder of the mesocarnivore diet consists of reptiles, birds, carrion, and with the exception of bobcats, fruit and insects (Cavallini et al. 2009). In this study, the diets of these carnivores in Keweenaw County will be analyzed to determine prey partitioning through scat analyses and the use of scent stations. Specifically, the hypotheses tested will be that black bears will consume primarily plant material, gray wolves will feed primarily on large ungulates, and amongst the mesocarnivores, predator body mass will correlate with prey size. In particular, the larger coyotes and bobcats will feed primarily on medium sized mammalian prey, such as snowshoe hares and cottontail rabbits, and the smaller red foxes, fishers, and American martens will feed primarily on smaller prey, such as voles, mice, and squirrels, along with porcupines in the fisher diet. Methods Study Area The 1,400 square kilometer study area is Keweenaw County, located in Michigan s northwestern Upper Peninsula, which comprises the very northern tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula jutting into southern Lake Superior (Binford 2006; Fig. 1). A range of low mountainsrun parallel to the western coast of Keweenaw County and form five ridges with intervening stream ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
