June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Working Title:
Branded For Error – I have chosen this name because I wanted to create a crime story that
has a great nod back to the true generation of the detective stories, the golden ages or Noir.
I adapted this from my audio project and now I am planning to continue the story from my
original pilot.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
My products purpose is to entertain with small bits of education, I plan to have lots of
different content implanted into the stories, like some humour between the characters to
give some realism, maybe some small bits of history that took place in that time era,
another bit of content would be using specific sound effects and music that come straight
from the golden ages to make seem like your acutely there.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
Audio based media (Podcasts-Stories), Gerne (Mystery, Historical, Thriller and Drama). I
have chosen to make some podcast stories that covers all these gernes in different episode
as to not overload my audience with too much happening at one time.
What sort of product is it
Content
My product is a podcast series, I would estimate that the maximum run time for each
episode would last for 7 – 9 minutes, I plan to start the story off by throwing the audience
into a specific part of the story maybe somewhere suspenseful like in the middle of a stick
up, then have it accompanied by narration then pulled back to where the story starts from. I
will also plan to make an app design of a blue magnifying glass and a red feather cross
against each other for my podcast’s stories, so my audience know what to look for and how
to access my stories.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience:
My primary gender is male while my secondary is females, my products will appeal to both
primary and secondary genders because of my research that I have found, around 70% of
my audience is of the male variety while 30% is that of the female variety. The results from
my survey have influenced me to add more masculine characters as opposed to female
characters in order to keep my audience happy, while also keeping true to the time era that
my story is based in, because back in those days the male gender wasseen more
dominantly back then, but with my writing I might throw a curveball to my female audience
that will make them happy. My primary age group is between 45 – 64, while my secondary
age group is between 18 – 24, For the Primary Age range they can handle the dark topics
that crime stories go through such as arson, fraud and Domestic abuse. While the
secondary will be hook on trying to put all the piece together, from all the clues gathered
like evidence at the crime scenes, witness reports and potential suspects.
My primary psychograph is needs driven; my products will appeal to my primary audience
because These kinds of listeners are alwaysdrawn to crime stories, when they finished one
story, they feel like then need to consume more of this media to know what happens next,
they fell like they need to put all the pieces together in order to get the full media story.
My primary social class is upper middle class while my secondary is lower middle class,
When It comes to the upper middle class they could picture themselves playing the role of
detectives because of where the detective stand on the chain of hierarchy when it comes to
USA law enforcement, while the lower middle class could picture themselves playing the
role of victim or the perpetrator with a walm drink to help them through their work, it will as
be a nice nod of how the middle class needs to go through the daily grind in order to
survive and live another day.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc

Why would your project appeal to this person?
Research and Planning:
I will use my survey and interview results to help guide me into how I’ll make final product
turn out by following the popular results first. First from my initial plans the elementsI will
focus on adding to my final products consist of; the theme I have laid out on my mood
board are what I hope depicted for when I comes the Noir styles. Next from my research the
elements I will include will consist of; more descriptive detail on what the characters and
the locations may look like and what events might transpire, I will also make use of
metaphors to give a location, an action or a person more of an air of mystery to really hook
the audience.
When I am describing characters or locations, I will do this in when a new character or
location is talked about in the stories and, I will call out any specific items or events that
mean something big or historical, that depicts something that relates to the golden ages, so
with all these elements I hope to hook my audience enough that they will have good time
listening to my stories.
What elements of your research and planning will you use in your final production?
Where will you use your research and planning in your final production?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include and will it offend any social
groups/religions/ethnicities?
By following ASA code 4 harm and offence, I will ensure that my product does not contain
any material or content that will offend or harm any particular religions, ethnicities, social
groups and individuals. To achieve this, I will not include offensive wording that could
insight hate or create any animosity towards them.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
By following ASA code 5 children, I will not restrict younger audience from listening to my
products, but my product is solely targeted to the older audience, even if a younger
audience member or members listen to there won’t be any material that will give them
harmful imagesfor them to be affected by them, so long as they have parental guidance or
permission that their ok to listen to my products.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
I will ensure that don’t offend anyone by ensure that I don’t use too many violent scenes
and less use of bad language in case a younger audience is listening, but I will keep in mind
that my products are for a much older audience so I will use phrases and certain words that
only my audience can understand.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
I will ensure that my products are deemed too similar to any existing products, by carrying
out some extensive research on existing products, by using a unique brand name for each
of my story’s episodes and a completely original story for each episode as to make sure I
am not stealing or repeating anything that has been done already.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
If I was to take this product out into the real world, in order to follow ASA codes 1 & 6 and
copyright laws, I would ensure that I sought out permission from the respective companies,
to ensure that I am following these codes and laws.
