The document describes experiments Jake Greenwood conducted to practice skills for his final game project. He created a running animation and sword swinging animation for the playable character. He also made an inventory system to make the experiment feel more like a game. Jake used Photoshop to create the experiments since that is the software he will use for the final product. He plans to include the animation style, inventory system, customization features, and death animation from the experiments in his final game project.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Process
In my experiments I created a
running animation for the playable
character as well as a sword
swinging animation, The reason for
having them in the experiment is
because I plan to incorporate them
into my final game, so I needed
some practice on how to make
them. I also made an inventory
system for the playable character to
make it feel more like a game and
less like an animation. To create the
experiment I used Photoshop, the
reason I used Photoshop was
because that’s the software I will
be using to create the final product.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I will use the same animation style, such as the sword
swinging and running animation.
• I will have an inventory system excepted it will have a bit
more style to it.
• I use the same customisability that’s in the experiment,
excepted it will be more fleshed out. I want to use this
feature because it make it feel more like a game
• I will use the same the same death animation because it
has a video game style, it creates less work giving me
more time to do other things and it appeals to a younger
audience because there's no blood or gore.
