Churches That Make A Difference
In Siders book Churches That Make a Difference the body of Christ is challenged to not only
understand the purpose of evangelism with words, but also called to evangelism by action (Sider 31).
Sider challenges the church to have a Holistic approach at ministry, and not just be focused on the
either or of Evangelism or Social Justice , but both. To understand this Holistic approach one must
understand what defines an evangelical church, and what defines a social justice church. Most
churches that call themselves evangelical, the focus for ministry is sharing the good news of Jesus
Christ through word of mouth, events, flyers etc. Churches that focus on social justice are less likely
to focus on the words that Jesus taught, but focus more on the actions of Jesus that reached out across
social norms to show love. These churches define themselves most of the time as reconciling
churches. The author writes that a healthy church is one that is embodies the Holistic approach, and
empowering its members to execute Holistic ministry in the community and in the world (Sider 16).
Sider does a great job at helping churches comprehend the complexities of living a Holistic ministry
approach as a church. In the book Churches That Make a Difference , Siders breaks down Holistic
ministry into three parts to better understand the concept. Those components include what is Holistic
ministry, what key building blocks and elements are necessary for Holistic ministry, and

The Middle Age Endurance
Carter, Jennifer , M.Ed. Developmental Psychology 5 July 2015 Humanity s Middle Age Endurance
Middle age is the term used to describe the time in an adult s life between the ages of 45 and 65. More
importantly, middle age is an adult developmental stage. It is a time in which the adult body, and mind
go through a series of changes physiologically, mentally, and emotionally. During their middle age
years, adults will exhibit signs of aging such as hair loss, gray hair, and skin losing its elasticity.
Middle age is also characterized by weight gain, and loss of physical strength. Navigating this time
period is like navigating an emotional and mental minefield. This is because the effects of middle age
can have such powerful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United States, unhappiness peaks at around age 40 for women and 50 for men. They found the
same U shape in happiness levels and life satisfaction by age for people living in 72 countries, (2008).
The impact middle age has on healthy living cannot be underestimated. In a presentation on Physical
Development in Middle Adulthood, Isaac Nathan lists six effects of cultural differences on healthy
living during middle age; isolation, poverty, cultures in which men are the dominant sex, religion,
language, and cultural habits, (2013). Again, middle age is not biased toward men or women, and does
not favor one culture over another. Middle aged adults who find themselves caring for aging parents,
while at the same time raising their own families are referred to as the sandwich generation. According
to Carol Abaya, M.A., a nationally recognized expert on the subject of the sandwich generation, the
above describes the Traditional Sandwich definition of sandwich generation. The second
classification, The Club Sandwich, represents those who are of middle age, care for an elderly parent,
their own children, and grandchildren, or those in their 30 or 40 s with young children, aging parents,
and grandparents. The third classification is the Open Face Sandwich, a term meaning anyone else
involved in elder care. Abaya writes, Being a Sandwich Generationer an elder/parent caregiver is a

Aristotle Honorable
The definition of Honorable can be defined in many ways. But in this case it means to have high
respect for that one person. To me it means to show respect for that person or that topic. Although he
was not a scientist by today s standards, science was one of the many things he studied during his time
at school as a teacher. His study included the study of biology, marine biology and Meteorology. He
studied in many fields of science. He was a big scientist of his time. (384 322BC) He is famous for his
introduction to the scientific method and is also known for providing important term of science called
empiricism . Aristotle composed over 200 works but only 31 survived. Although he never was
rewarded with an award, there was an award named after him. During his childhood he lost his father
at a young age. But that only made him strive for achievements. During his time he wrote many books
on the human body. He wrote a book over 50 pages which may not sound like a lot now but back then
it was huge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

things are made from fire for instance. He worked in Greece almost all his life and died from natural
causes. He asked to be buried by his wife Herpyllis who died a couple years before him. While he was
a teacher he taught Alexander the Great. He is honorable because he had many achievements people
often overlook. If he never gave us ideas on the scientific method we may not have one today. He

The Preface By William Lloyd Garrison
The preface by William Lloyd Garrison describes the encounter between Frederick Douglass and
Garrison, at an anti slavery convention. It tells about how this encounter led to a long partnership
between the two as well as Douglass involvement in the Anti Slavery Society. At the convention the
people noticed his appearance as well as his intellectual side. The crowd seemed to respond well to the
idea of protecting Douglass against his owners. In the convent Garrison says Douglass testimony
made the audience question their ideas about black being inferior. Garrison then goes on to talk about
how any inferior ideas about a race are the cause of slavery. He describes the events where a
shipwrecked whites where held as slaves by blacks in Africa because they were seen as inferior. He
then goes on to point of that many slaves have endured a much harsher life then Douglass, and he
points out how murder of slaves was not being investigated. In the preface there was a letter to
Douglass from a Wendell Phillips, addressing Douglass as a friend. He says that he is happy the
writing of former slaves is now being published and able to be but into history. The prior history of
slave owning was by slave owners themselves and they left out very important details. He then goes
on to say that he was astounded at the harsh ways he was treated in an area that was considered a less
harsh area. He then goes on to talk about how since he put the real names of himself and of his
masters he has

Analysis Of The Old Nurse s Story
The Vivid, Realistic, 1080 HD Narration in The Old Nurse s Story There are two interesting stories I
would like to mention before I start. The first one is called Bisclavret written by Marie de France. This
is a story about a baron named Bisclavret who regularly turned into a werewolf, was betrayed by his
wife, but finally regained all his status and honor back by showing loyalty to the king. The second
story is a gothic literature named The Old Nurse s Story written by Elizabeth Gaskell. This story is
mainly about how the first person narrator Miss Hester and her little Rosamand strive to survive in the
haunted mansion and how they get to know the secrets of the ghosts. In this writing I will compare the
two different narration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a self contradiction that disturbs reader s concentration: the more detailed the story becomes,
the more suspicious it gets in terms of the how the narrator acquired the information. What is worse, at
the end of the story, the narrator emphasizes that the story is nothing but true, arousing more suspicion
and contradiction since the story also contains impractical materials and cases like a werewolf and the
werewolf turning back to a human being when it wears its clothes back on, not only the excessive
details that a third person narrator may not acquire in common sense. Unlike this somewhat loose
narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. Hester, in The Old Nurse s Story does not have this kind of
flaw, for she tells, with enough details, only what she actually heard and saw as a participant in the
story, leaving no room for the readers to doubt the authenticity of the plot. When describing the
surroundings of the Furnivall manor house, Hester states Only in front of the house all was clear. The
great oval drive was without a weed; and neither tree nor creeper was allowed to grow over the long,
many windowed front; at both sides of which a wing projected, which were each the ends of other side
fronts; for the house, although it was so desolate, was even grander than I expected (2). Reading her
narrations, a full view of the grand manor house is automatically drawn inside my head. This kind

Eugene V. Debs Essay
Eugene V. Debs Citizen and Socialist
Nick Salvatore s book Eugene V. Debs Citizen and Socialist provides a very detailed account of the
life and times and Eugene Debs. Debs was born in Terre Haute Indiana and Salvatore emphasizes the
important role that this played in Debs upbringing. Terre Haute was ripe with religious
fundamentalism from its founding. Religion permeated everyday life throughout Terre Haute.
Salvatore writes that, In newspaper editorials, political speeches, civic dedications and Sunday
sermons they assured the kingdom of God had already arrived and that their town was destined to
become the center of the Kingdoms Midwest development. It is striking how the ideals of the Terre

He was still active as grand secretary of the BLF at this time and engaged in the national debate
regarding the need for a larger all encompassing railway union in place of smaller ones to advance the
needs of railway workers. He believed a larger national union would be much more effective in this
role. Salvatore argues that at this time Debs even began to form the idea of a all encompassing union
for all laborers nationwide at this time. He retired from his role in the BLF in 1891 and organized the
first national industrial union in the United States in 1893, the American Railway union or ARU. He
rose to the national spotlight as the leader of the ARU when they struck on the great northern railway
in 1894 and had all of their demands unconditionally granted after 18 days. This was the first large
scale union victory in American history and emphasized Debs ability as a Labor leader.
In 1894 Debs was confronted with his most daunting situation to date. He presided over the infamous
Pullman strike in Chicago in 1895. This proved to be the most important event in Debs life regarding
the formation of his ideologies. This was the first strike in America which was not authorized by the
laborers local unions. The employees being both members of their local unions and Debs ARU
showed their allegiance to the ARU and struck with Debs approval. The workers refused to operate

Joan Of Arc Catholic Hero
Joan of Arc once said, I am not, may God put me there; and if I am, may God so keep me . When Joan
was only thirteen years old she heard the voice of God. She also had various visions that powered her
to lead an army that would give France victory over England in the Hundreds year war . She was
named a roman catholic saint almost 500 years after leading her army into battle. Some may say that
Joan of Arc does not get as much recognition as what she deserves. She did what no woman could
have done at that time. Although some people believe that Joan never was actually called upon God,
that she was just hallucinating because doctors and scholars have diagnosed Joan of Arc with disorders

However other people argue that she was sent the devil and practiced witchcraft. To begin with, Joan
lead army and that was not something that you could traditionally find a young woman doing in the
1400 s. She went through a lot too. When Joan had to travel across enemy land to get to Charles VII,
she cropped her hair and dressed in men s clothes for her 11 day journey according to Biography.com.
She had to do this because it was dangerous to travel across the enemies land, let alone being a woman
in this time era. The reason Joan first believed that she could create success on the warfield was
because she had many visions and heard voices, ones she believed were sent by God. She then vowed
to remain a virgin the rest of her life. In these messages sent by God, they said to go on a journey to
save France from England and give Charles VII his place at the throne. In an interview with historian,
Professor Charlotte Baune she says, in the 15th century there was a strong belief that God could alter
the course of history . So when the word got out that Joan had been hearing messages from God, they
looked past gender roles and let her lead an army into Orleans. Lastly, Joan of Arc wanted to reclaim
Paris for France, but her plan failed and Charles VII no longer wanted to support her troops.
According to a video Uploaded on Britannica.com, the English found it insufferable that a young girl
was leading an army against them and that she was victorious against the English army . To the
English, this meant she had been sent by the devil, and the only way to get rid of her was to burn her
to death. This is the tragic part of Joan s story. People at this time did not believe that a woman could
lead an army to victory, only men could. It was so absurd to them, they actually believed she was sent
by the devil and practiced witchcraft. Because of this, she was burned to

Albatross Research Papers
Soaring through the ocean breeze, the Albatross is one of the most magnificent birds on planet Earth.
This type of bird has been well known ever since the poem the Rime of the Ancient Mariner , and is
unique in many ways. You might as well call them tube nose!
The Habitat of the Albatross is mainly the sky, so to speak, as it spends most of its lifetime gliding
through the air. This is also supported by the Albatross tapered wings, which allows the bird to use the
wind efficiently. Congregations of Albatrosses on land are rare except for when it is breeding season;
they then reside on remote islands for a number of months to mate and care for their clutch.
With an average wing span of eleven feet and a weight of up to twenty two pounds, ... Show more

Some fledgelings fall into the depths of the coasts while making their maiden flight and many do not
possess the capability to fly out of the water. This results in Albatrosses being attacked by the sharks
while in the water.
The surviving Albatrosses, of course, need to eat as well. Correspondingly, the majority of their prey
is made up of sea animals. The birds mainly hunt animals on the surface of the ocean such as fish,
squid, crabs, and carrion, or decaying flesh. With its exceptional eyesight and sense of smell, the
Albatross can hunt for food in both night and day; especially if it is looking for carrion. Since
decaying flesh is commonly used as bait on fishing trawlers, the Albatross often follows ships for days
while hunting. In addition, the hooked beak allows the Albatross to catch slippery prey.
Hydration is also important: many seabirds prefer fresh water when it is available, but can also drink
salt water. The Albatross is one of the birds that is able to drink salt water as a result of salt glands
above its eyes; the salt is absorbed into the bloodstream and heads toward the glands. From there, the
water is desalinated and a concentrated salty liquid is excreted from the nostrils. This is why there is a
pronounced tube covering the nostrils it keeps the liquid from spraying onto the

Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck
Have you ever realized that John Steinbeck talked about Religion in his book Grapes of Wrath? Well,
if your answer is NO, let me inform you that Steinbeck did talk about Religion in his book. There are
many similarities in John Steinbeck s Grapes of Wrath and Christ s story. In The Grapes of Wrath,
Steinbeck presents religion in different ways ranging from Jim Casy s similarities to Christ, the use of
Christian theology, and the symbolism of some characters as pastors. Throughout his book, Steinbeck
recounts the great depression era and its effects on proletariats. The major theme throughout this book
is the role of Christianity in the society. Marxism is a better theoretical lens to utilize for this paper
because the book itself contains several Marxist key terms. By applying the Marxist theory on
Steinbeck s book Grapes of Wrath, we can better understand how he uses Christian theology to
advance his critiques of capitalism.
Marxism is a literary theory that was developed by Karl Marx and his colleague Friedrich Engels.
According to Karl Marx, human history is made of physical things as well as a variety of struggles
between social classes: the lower class (oppressed) and the middle class (oppressing). There are two
most common and important key terms used in the Marxist theory: bourgeoisie, which often refers to
the middle class; those who own business or have a better life and proletariat, which refers to lower or
working class; those who have to work for others in

Chest Wall Movement Essay
AS is a disease that limits chest wall flexibility through inflammation of the costovertebral,
sternocostal and intervertebral joints. Manubriosternal and sternoclavicular joints may also be
involved and although less important mechanically, can contribute to limitation of chest wall
movement due to pain. AS involves the axial skeleton first then the anterior chest wall. The restriction
of movement along with hyperinflation leads to decreased exercise tolerance, muscle fatigue, limited
aerobic capacity and eventually deconditioning. This will lead to decreased diaphragmatic excursion,
diaphragmatic weakness, trunk/core muscle weakness and a limited ZOA.32 Donath Osteoporosis

Assessment of the entire abdominal wall, rib cage and breathing mechanics should therefore be a part
of every pelvic floor/pelvic pain evaluation.38 Thompson Patients with LBP have been found to
breathe shallowly during an active straight leg raise test. They also were found to have increased
descent of the pelvic floor during ultrasound imaging throughout the same test. When external force
closure was applied at the ilia, tidal volume increased and descent of the pelvic floor was reduced.
Therefore the synergistic activity of the muscles about the pressurized canister is necessary for
breathing, maintaining continence and preventing pain.35Hodges and Sap Pregnancy
The growing uterus during pregnancy changes the mechanics throughout the trunk. The diaphragm
can be elevated 5 cm. As the diaphragm moves superiorly, it lengthens which improves its ability to
generate tension. The widening rib cage increases the diaphragms radius of curvature and the area of
the ZOA. Due to this increased area of apposition, the abdominal pressure generated by the
diaphragmatic contraction influences mainly the lower ribs. The ribcage then elevates and expands
where it is apposed to the diaphragm. This is necessary in order to maintain total lung volume. The
infrasternal angle can increase from 68.5˚ to 103.5˚ by term.39,40 LoMauro/Aliverti and

Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And...
3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to
perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the
unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned
stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would
remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer
reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the
classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also,
another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short
delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned
stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of
turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned
rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In
classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly
decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as
quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats

Bargaining Power of Suppliers and Buyers of Video Games
Bargaining power of suppliers: Hardware, game publisher, game developer
Bargaining power of buyers: there is a high power (82)
For the industry analysis, we are certain of sales since the PS4 is a consumer product particularly. For
that reason, the buyer has a high bargaining power on the product. The market for casual gamers has
increased seriously and sales increased after decreasing price of the PS3. Due to the uniqueness of
every video game console and the games buyers have bargaining power. A small difference might be
significance an extra hundred dollars for an intense gamer. People have more aware to the price
difference because they play video games more casually and as a result they have more bargaining
power. Buyers have a reasonable amount of power in the video game industry in particular with
Nintendo. Although Microsoft and Sony have other sources of revenues, the major source of income
comes from the sales of games and game consoles.

Bohemian Research Paper
Many free spirited people, also known as Bohemians , get dreadlocks as a way to passively express
their beliefs of social justice and nonconformity. Before the rise of the hippie movement, Rastafarians
dreadlocked their hair strictly for religious and traditional reasons, but now, thanks to Bohemianism,
dreadlocks are used as a way to convey their hope for a less judgemental society. The term Bohemian
emerged in France in the early nineteenth century when artist, musicians, and writers began to focus
their work on the common people who lived in the lower rent, lower class, Romani neighborhoods.
These people were mistakenly thought to have come from the country of Bohemia, a region
encompassing the western Czech Republic, because of their unique appearance and unconventional
social motives. Bohemianism is derivative of the hippie counterculture movement of the 1960 s and

Today I am going to be talking about Mt Merapi. Mt Merapi is found on an island called Indonesia, It
is an active Stratovolcano and has been erupting constantly since 1548. The eruption of this volcano

it erupted there was an earthquake that killed 5000 people. After the earthquake the impact of the

The causes of Mt Merapi resulted into an earthquake, due to the indo Australian plate being subducted

Galileo Galilei s Contributions to Scientific Advancements
Galileo was probably the most appreciable astronomer, mathematician and scientist of his time. In fact
his work has been very essential in many scientific advances, even to this day. With things like
improving the telescope and the discovery of the heliocentric orbit of Earth. Galileo had many other
substantial discoveries that also had a great effect on astronomy.
In the early seventeenth century,Galileo Galilei, an Italian physicist, mathemitician, astronomer, and
philosopher, is known for improving the telescope and his support in Copernicanism. He was known
as Galileo. He has many different names for his brilliant work and observations in astronomy. Some of
his many names are father of observational astronomy , the father of physics . His main two
achievements were improving the telescope and observations to support Copercanicusm. Galileo
Galilei was born on February 15, 1564 to Vincenzo Galilei and Giulia degli Ammannati in Pisa, Italy.
His father, Vincenzo, was a musician. His family was not rich but they were of nobility.Galileo never
married but he did have a brief relationship with Marina Gamba. He met her on one of his trips to
Venice. She lived with Galileo and they had three children. In 1610 he moved to Florence, where he
took a position at The Court of the Medici family. In 1581 Galileo went to study at the University of

The World s First Global Conflict
Chantel banks World Literature II Literature Essay March 7, 2015 Illustrations on the Impact of War
The world s first global conflict, World War 1 (1914 1918), opposed the Central Powers of Germany,
Ottoman Empire, Austria and Hungary against the Allied forces of The United States, Great Britain,
Russia, France, Japan and Italy. World War 1 was significant because of the initial appliance of
modern technology into warfare; which consequently resulted in an unfathomable amount of soldiers
deaths and multinational collateral damage. Through the introduction of multinational war, was the
introduction of personal experiences and perspectives of all parties included. Although we may never
know firsthand of the emotional pressure and frame of mind of the many individuals who endured the
World War 1, we are fortunate in the amounts of historical artifacts, including literature written during
those times, to help provide the future with an awareness and appreciation for those who sacrificed
their lives for the world today. Two pieces of literature which specifically explores the emotional
impact of war is Katherine Mansfield s symbolic work of literature The Fly: and W.B Yeats poignant
elegy, An Irish Airman Foresees His Death. Each piece of literature written during the first year of the
post war era, are an impressively intimate illustration of emotionally expressions and perspectives of
the protagonists caused by the devastation of the war. The two pieces of literature

Family Entertainment Center ( Hffec )
Havn Fun Family Entertainment Center (HFFEC) is in the industry of Family Entertainment Centers
also known as FECs. Family entertainment is a very profitable business because families are always
looking for affordable local facilities to enjoy their time together. We want to help restore the broken
bond between families caused by many outside forces, the busyness of life, and common distractions
that drive them apart. We plan to make fun cool again. Starting out in Beaumont, Texas we have the
advantage of entering into a place where strong family values are important. As a child growing up in
this city I remember there were many places to go to have fun. Places like Putt Putt Golf, a skating
rink that was off Highway 105 where after the skating stopped at midnight it would turn into a dance
floor where people could dance, mingle, have good clean fun until they closing time. There were also
a small amusement park with children s amusement park, rides and games. There was also a Go Kart
riding place for families to just ride around the track laughing and smiling. After moving away from
Beaumont, I moved into bigger cities where I saw family fun on a greater level. Visiting six Flags in
Atlanta introduced me to plenty of fun, excitement, and amusement on a grand scale.
We want to bring that same kind of family oriented fun, love, and excitement to the city of Beaumont.
We will have some of the latest technology in the Family Entertainment Industry including video

Persuasive Essay On Relationships
It starts the moment we come to this world. Thousands of people around us that we re get to interact
with throughout our lives. Whether it s our families, friends, co workers, or even acquaintances, we
always strive to create a perfect and unique relationship with others without really knowing what it
actually needs to do that. According to the Dunbar s theory, even though we might meet hundreds of
people on a daily basis, we can only maintain a stable relationship with only 150 individuals, and only
5 of which will be best friends, or people to whom we hold the most meaning. Developing a good
relationship cannot in anyway be done by following a series of easy steps, rather it takes a complex
group of actions on all levels to happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, listening to their opinions and thoughts will lead to a healthy relationship because the two sides
in a relationship complement each other. Giving your honest opinion will earn you trust in your
relationship, but it s very important to make sure that you use the appropriate wording so that you don
t hurt your partner s feelings. Talking negatively to your partner can frustrate them drive them into
thinking that you no longer wish to proceed in the relation. Respecting others also means respecting
their privacy, this is very important because it makes them feel safe around you, and it makes them
trust you. Furthermore, the two sides in a relation shall respect each other s properties.
Expressing gratitude and appreciativeness in a relationship is very necessary since it generates a sense
of harmony and acceptance between the sides involved in the relation. Also, appreciation gives a lot of
positivity into the relationship and allows the relation to grow and develop, and it establishes
confidence and trust between partners. Being thankful to your partner makes them feel that you re
appreciating what they re doing for you, and it encourages them to continue doing. It also results in
your partner appreciating what you are doing for them and how much you care about them. Moreover,

Stress In University Essay
Stress is known for occurring during the overwhelming times throughout students university
experience. There are three major elements that students face in university that reinforce each other
and lead to stress. These three connected experiences can lead to them developing a mental illness if
the stress becomes long term. Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load for students rises
when they come to university, they will feel stressed. Secondly, since university is expensive, it may
be very stressful for students to pay for tuition and living costs. Lastly, students who are starting
university will face a lack of family support systems, difficulty finding friends, and difficulty leaving
home which will lead to them feeling stressed. Stress based on these three factors may have a
significant impact on their mental health and academic success.
Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load on students rises when they come to university,
they will feel stressed as they adjust to the change of scholarly expectations. Students in university
face the challenges of having more assignments and tougher examinations than in high school, which
students may not be prepared for beforehand. The other academic factors that contribute to higher
stress levels are familial induced pressure to succeed, scholarship requirements, and higher education
requirements (Bedewy and Gabriel). Other factors that also have the highest rate of academic stress
are, course loads, lack of

Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer was a story of not the people themselves but a social
statement of how the people of higher standing were viewed by the middle class. In the time that
Canterbury Tales was written it was a time of corruption of the Church. There were many clergy
members that were mentioned in this story. Each of the characters was unique in the way they went
against the standards they should be held to. The most interesting this story was definitely The Friar.
The Friar was a man a bit above the monk, he was supposed to dedicate his life to poverty, he was
supposed to be a beggar for the church. As Chaucer writes in his novel the reader knows just because
that was what was supposed to happen, it never actually happened that way. The Friar that Chaucer
introduces his audience to is one that does the opposite of what his duties actually were supposed to
do. All of this being disguised as a good work. When the audience delves into the information Chaucer
provides, there is a realization that the friar may not be the man good works that he is seen as. The
Friar is seen in his sexual, financial with spiritual and social immorality.
Friars are clergy men with the belief of celibacy in their hearts. This is supposed to help the men focus
only on things that were Godly. This Friar in Chaucer s tale, was obviously different, this Friar knew
much about dalliance and sweet talk (Chaucer 211). The word dalliance is a word that is not

Biography Of Felix Mendelssohn s The Mendelssohn Quartet
The piece my ensemble piece will be performing is the Mendelssohn Quartet Op.44, movement 1. The
composer, Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg. Germany. As a son of
Moses Mendelssohn, who was a successful banker, Mendelssohn was born into a very wealthy family,
which gave him certain advantages such as providing him a rich and ideal cultural setting for his
artistic mind to flourish. His received good education as well. While Mendelssohn s father disliked
Jews that converted from Judaism to Christianity to gain social acceptance outside of the jewish
ghettos, Felix still ended up following Christianity, and even baptized his whole family in the name of
Jesus. When Mendelssohn was a child, his family moved to Berlin where he would meet Ludwig
Berger. Felix took piano lessons from Berger and also studied from Karl Zelter on compositions. In
the early 19th century, Mendelssohn quickly established himself as prodigy and displayed an interest
in arts and music thru his ability to perform on the piano and violin, as well as painting. At the young
age of nine, he made is public debut and during his childhood he had written five operas and eleven
full orchestral symphonies. In the late 1810 s, Felix Mendelssohn took part in the Singakedemie Music
Academy, where he wrote numerous pieces such as multiple violin sonatas, a cantata, two piano
sonatas, and a short opera. In 1821, Karl Zelter took Mendelssohn to the port, Johann Wolfgang von

Analysis of Investigation Regarding Manure and Antibiotics...
Dolliver et al. (2007) investigated the effect of antibiotic usage on concentration of antibiotics due to
manure use in the soil. Many farmers will add manure to their soils; in order to add nutrients to their
crops. The farmer may not be aware that when they are adding the manure they may also be adding
antibiotics. Sulfamethazine, a very important antibiotics used in livestock production, is given to the
livestock and they release the antibiotics in their feces. In 2001, 400 tons of sulfamethazine were
added to livestock yearly. In their experiment they focused on three main food crops; corn, lettuce, and
potato. They wanted to know if the plant would uptake the antibiotics in they were grown in soil
where the antibiotic was found. If the plant did uptake the antibiotics; it could lead to antibiotic
resistance bacteria to be found in the plants. Followed by; an increase amount of antibiotic resistance
bacteria consumed by humans and other animals.
Manure is used extensively in the United State; livestock produce 132 million metric tons yearly for
use in agricultural fields (Dolliver el al. 2007). The antibiotics that are found in the soil can persist for
several hundred days in the soil. Various antibiotics break down at different rates. Phytotoxicity can be
examined to test the effect of antibiotic exposure to the plants. The antibiotic exposure may reduce the
root stalk of the plant or other important features of the plant. Another issue with antibiotic

Suicide -A Serious Issue
Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because
of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out.
Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they
succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure
themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is
probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for
disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is
the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of
thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is
money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our
text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of
nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and

Self-Medication In Wild Animals
Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in at
least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for the
removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting toxic
plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they eat,
some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour.
A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the
digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately
consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ... Show

Geophagy is the consumption of soil, and in wild animals this practice has the effect of neutralising
the defensive poisons produced by plants. For instance, researchers discovered that some tropical birds
practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are toxic. In an experiment
with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the consumption of clay and the
reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the leaves of many tropical plants
contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that herbivores in tropical regions regularly
consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease consumption of clay during specific times of the
year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit. As a result, researchers have concluded that these
wild animals ingest clay in order to neutralise the poisons contained in the plants they

conditions they had to farm in. They had very many tools also. Some of the major tools were the plow,
winnowing fork, sickles, and pruning hooks. These tools were used for their work. The tools and
techniques were used to grow multiple crops. The crops were beans, barley, wheat, grapes, olives,

The Greeks planted crops in a field for one or two seasons and then let the field lie fallow for several
seasons. In the meantime, they shifted to a field that had lain fallow for several years and removes the
vegetation by cutting it down and burning it hence slash and burn. The ash from the burned vegetation
added another layer of nutrients to the soil and that along, when the field was resting it let the soil
regenerate. It could be dangerous because of destruction but it could be very helpful. All the
techniques were nice, but don t forget about they also had to use tools to farm the ground. The major
tools were the plow, sickle, winnowing fork, and a pruning hook. The plow was used for breaking up
the ground. The Greek plow was made out of wood. It made furrows in the ground so they could plant
the seeds. The plows were pulled by oxen or cows. Do you know what the Greeks had to harvest
wheat and barley with? Well they had to harvest their corps with a sickle. A sickle, or bagging hook, is
a hand held agricultural tool designed with variously curved blades and typically used for harvesting,

dried as hay. They would cut and stack the crop. Then they would have to come back and gather

Turbo Code is Formed from the Parallel Concatenation of...
The first turbo code, based on convolutional encoding, was introduced in 1993 by Berrou etal. Since
then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo codes has been generalized to cover
block codes as well as convolutional codes. Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel
concatenation of two codes separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of
processing data in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an
iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications receiver in order
to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way of thinking in the construction of
communication algorithms. This method was introduced in a system of error control for data
transmission, called turbo code. This family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design
innovations: concatenated encoding and iterative decoding.
The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo detection, turbo
equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case of transmission systems with
interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant
gains in BER performance, compared with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high
throughput, low complexity and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative
process is a great challenge.

Unknown Solution 8 was identified as sodium oxalate from its formation of white silver oxalate

solutions did not form a clear brown solution with sodium oxalate and had different but similar
properties in other binary mixings; this might be due to contamination, so Solutions 4 and 10 are
likely sodium sulfide. Though it reacted differently with sodium sulfide, Unknown Solution 11 was

The Slough, by Theodore Roethke, spoke to me in a way I could relate. Based on my experience, I felt

Furthermore, I have a passion for nature and I like how the poet used association with flora and fauna
to provide a visual display among the confusion.
The other deciding factor was I found this poem easy to read at a nice steady pace with rhythm, rhyme
and minimal variations in pitch and volume required. The poet refers to himself in a third person;
therefore, leads me to believe he was pondering life within his thoughts, rather than actually speaking

  • 2. Churches That Make A Difference In Siders book Churches That Make a Difference the body of Christ is challenged to not only understand the purpose of evangelism with words, but also called to evangelism by action (Sider 31). Sider challenges the church to have a Holistic approach at ministry, and not just be focused on the either or of Evangelism or Social Justice , but both. To understand this Holistic approach one must understand what defines an evangelical church, and what defines a social justice church. Most churches that call themselves evangelical, the focus for ministry is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through word of mouth, events, flyers etc. Churches that focus on social justice are less likely to focus on the words that Jesus taught, but focus more on the actions of Jesus that reached out across social norms to show love. These churches define themselves most of the time as reconciling churches. The author writes that a healthy church is one that is embodies the Holistic approach, and empowering its members to execute Holistic ministry in the community and in the world (Sider 16). Sider does a great job at helping churches comprehend the complexities of living a Holistic ministry approach as a church. In the book Churches That Make a Difference , Siders breaks down Holistic ministry into three parts to better understand the concept. Those components include what is Holistic ministry, what key building blocks and elements are necessary for Holistic ministry, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Middle Age Endurance Carter, Jennifer , M.Ed. Developmental Psychology 5 July 2015 Humanity s Middle Age Endurance Middle age is the term used to describe the time in an adult s life between the ages of 45 and 65. More importantly, middle age is an adult developmental stage. It is a time in which the adult body, and mind go through a series of changes physiologically, mentally, and emotionally. During their middle age years, adults will exhibit signs of aging such as hair loss, gray hair, and skin losing its elasticity. Middle age is also characterized by weight gain, and loss of physical strength. Navigating this time period is like navigating an emotional and mental minefield. This is because the effects of middle age can have such powerful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the United States, unhappiness peaks at around age 40 for women and 50 for men. They found the same U shape in happiness levels and life satisfaction by age for people living in 72 countries, (2008). The impact middle age has on healthy living cannot be underestimated. In a presentation on Physical Development in Middle Adulthood, Isaac Nathan lists six effects of cultural differences on healthy living during middle age; isolation, poverty, cultures in which men are the dominant sex, religion, language, and cultural habits, (2013). Again, middle age is not biased toward men or women, and does not favor one culture over another. Middle aged adults who find themselves caring for aging parents, while at the same time raising their own families are referred to as the sandwich generation. According to Carol Abaya, M.A., a nationally recognized expert on the subject of the sandwich generation, the above describes the Traditional Sandwich definition of sandwich generation. The second classification, The Club Sandwich, represents those who are of middle age, care for an elderly parent, their own children, and grandchildren, or those in their 30 or 40 s with young children, aging parents, and grandparents. • 4. Aristotle Honorable The definition of Honorable can be defined in many ways. But in this case it means to have high respect for that one person. To me it means to show respect for that person or that topic. Although he was not a scientist by today s standards, science was one of the many things he studied during his time at school as a teacher. His study included the study of biology, marine biology and Meteorology. He studied in many fields of science. He was a big scientist of his time. (384 322BC) He is famous for his introduction to the scientific method and is also known for providing important term of science called empiricism . Aristotle composed over 200 works but only 31 survived. Although he never was rewarded with an award, there was an award named after him. During his childhood he lost his father at a young age. But that only made him strive for achievements. During his time he wrote many books on the human body. He wrote a book over 50 pages which may not sound like a lot now but back then it was huge. ... • 5. The Preface By William Lloyd Garrison The preface by William Lloyd Garrison describes the encounter between Frederick Douglass and Garrison, at an anti slavery convention. It tells about how this encounter led to a long partnership between the two as well as Douglass involvement in the Anti Slavery Society. At the convention the people noticed his appearance as well as his intellectual side. The crowd seemed to respond well to the idea of protecting Douglass against his owners. In the convent Garrison says Douglass testimony made the audience question their ideas about black being inferior. Garrison then goes on to talk about how any inferior ideas about a race are the cause of slavery. He describes the events where a shipwrecked whites where held as slaves by blacks in Africa because they were seen as inferior. He then goes on to point of that many slaves have endured a much harsher life then Douglass, and he points out how murder of slaves was not being investigated. In the preface there was a letter to Douglass from a Wendell Phillips, addressing Douglass as a friend. He says that he is happy the writing of former slaves is now being published and able to be but into history. The prior history of slave owning was by slave owners themselves and they left out very important details. • 6. Analysis Of The Old Nurse s Story The Vivid, Realistic, 1080 HD Narration in The Old Nurse s Story There are two interesting stories I would like to mention before I start. The first one is called Bisclavret written by Marie de France. This is a story about a baron named Bisclavret who regularly turned into a werewolf, was betrayed by his wife, but finally regained all his status and honor back by showing loyalty to the king. The second story is a gothic literature named The Old Nurse s Story written by Elizabeth Gaskell. This story is mainly about how the first person narrator Miss Hester and her little Rosamand strive to survive in the haunted mansion and how they get to know the secrets of the ghosts. In this writing I will compare the two different narration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a self contradiction that disturbs reader s concentration: the more detailed the story becomes, the more suspicious it gets in terms of the how the narrator acquired the information. What is worse, at the end of the story, the narrator emphasizes that the story is nothing but true, arousing more suspicion and contradiction since the story also contains impractical materials and cases like a werewolf and the werewolf turning back to a human being when it wears its clothes back on, not only the excessive details that a third person narrator may not acquire in common sense. Unlike this somewhat loose narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. Hester, in The Old Nurse s Story does not have this kind of flaw, for she tells, with enough details, only what she actually heard and saw as a participant in the story, leaving no room for the readers to doubt the authenticity of the plot. When describing the surroundings of the Furnivall manor house, Hester states Only in front of the house all was clear. The great oval drive was without a weed; and neither tree nor creeper was allowed to grow over the long, many windowed front; at both sides of which a wing projected, which were each the ends of other side fronts; for the house, although it was so desolate, was even grander than I expected (2). Salvatore argues that at this time Debs even began to form the idea of a all encompassing union for all laborers nationwide at this time. He retired from his role in the BLF in 1891 and organized the first national industrial union in the United States in 1893, the American Railway union or ARU. He rose to the national spotlight as the leader of the ARU when they struck on the great northern railway in 1894 and had all of their demands unconditionally granted after 18 days. This was the first large scale union victory in American history and emphasized Debs ability as a Labor leader. In 1894 Debs was confronted with his most daunting situation to date. He presided over the infamous Pullman strike in Chicago in 1895. This proved to be the most important event in Debs life regarding the formation of his ideologies. This was the first strike in America which was not authorized by the laborers local unions. The employees being both members of their local unions and Debs ARU showed their allegiance to the ARU and struck with Debs approval. She was named a roman catholic saint almost 500 years after leading her army into battle. Some may say that Joan of Arc does not get as much recognition as what she deserves. To begin with, Joan lead army and that was not something that you could traditionally find a young woman doing in the 1400 s. She went through a lot too. When Joan had to travel across enemy land to get to Charles VII, she cropped her hair and dressed in men s clothes for her 11 day journey according to Biography.com. She had to do this because it was dangerous to travel across the enemies land, let alone being a woman in this time era. The reason Joan first believed that she could create success on the warfield was because she had many visions and heard voices, ones she believed were sent by God. She then vowed to remain a virgin the rest of her life. In these messages sent by God, they said to go on a journey to save France from England and give Charles VII his place at the throne. In an interview with historian, Professor Charlotte Baune she says, in the 15th century there was a strong belief that God could alter the course of history . So when the word got out that Joan had been hearing messages from God, they looked past gender roles and let her lead an army into Orleans. Lastly, Joan of Arc wanted to reclaim Paris for France, but her plan failed and Charles VII no longer wanted to support her troops. According to a video Uploaded on Britannica.com, the English found it insufferable that a young girl was leading an army against them and that she was victorious against the English army . To the English, this meant she had been sent by the devil, and the only way to get rid of her was to burn her to death. This is the tragic part of Joan s story. This type of bird has been well known ever since the poem the Rime of the Ancient Mariner , and is unique in many ways. You might as well call them tube nose! The Habitat of the Albatross is mainly the sky, so to speak, as it spends most of its lifetime gliding through the air. This is also supported by the Albatross tapered wings, which allows the bird to use the wind efficiently. Some fledgelings fall into the depths of the coasts while making their maiden flight and many do not possess the capability to fly out of the water. This results in Albatrosses being attacked by the sharks while in the water. The surviving Albatrosses, of course, need to eat as well. Correspondingly, the majority of their prey is made up of sea animals. The birds mainly hunt animals on the surface of the ocean such as fish, squid, crabs, and carrion, or decaying flesh. With its exceptional eyesight and sense of smell, the Albatross can hunt for food in both night and day; especially if it is looking for carrion. Since decaying flesh is commonly used as bait on fishing trawlers, the Albatross often follows ships for days while hunting. In addition, the hooked beak allows the Albatross to catch slippery prey. Hydration is also important: many seabirds prefer fresh water when it is available, but can also drink salt water. The Albatross is one of the birds that is able to drink salt water as a result of salt glands above its eyes; the salt is absorbed into the bloodstream and heads toward the glands. From there, the water is desalinated and a concentrated salty liquid is excreted from the nostrils. This is why there is a pronounced tube covering the nostrils it keeps the liquid from spraying onto the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, if your answer is NO, let me inform you that Steinbeck did talk about Religion in his book. There are many similarities in John Steinbeck s Grapes of Wrath and Christ s story. In The Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck presents religion in different ways ranging from Jim Casy s similarities to Christ, the use of Christian theology, and the symbolism of some characters as pastors. Throughout his book, Steinbeck recounts the great depression era and its effects on proletariats. The major theme throughout this book is the role of Christianity in the society. Marxism is a better theoretical lens to utilize for this paper because the book itself contains several Marxist key terms. By applying the Marxist theory on Steinbeck s book Grapes of Wrath, we can better understand how he uses Christian theology to advance his critiques of capitalism. Marxism is a literary theory that was developed by Karl Marx and his colleague Friedrich Engels. According to Karl Marx, human history is made of physical things as well as a variety of struggles between social classes: the lower class (oppressed) and the middle class (oppressing). There are two most common and important key terms used in the Marxist theory: bourgeoisie, which often refers to the middle class; those who own business or have a better life and proletariat, which refers to lower or working class; those who have to work for others in ... • 14. Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And... 3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also, another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats ... Before the rise of the hippie movement, Rastafarians dreadlocked their hair strictly for religious and traditional reasons, but now, thanks to Bohemianism, dreadlocks are used as a way to convey their hope for a less judgemental society. The term Bohemian emerged in France in the early nineteenth century when artist, musicians, and writers began to focus their work on the common people who lived in the lower rent, lower class, Romani neighborhoods. In the time that Canterbury Tales was written it was a time of corruption of the Church. There were many clergy members that were mentioned in this story. Each of the characters was unique in the way they went against the standards they should be held to. The most interesting this story was definitely The Friar. The Friar was a man a bit above the monk, he was supposed to dedicate his life to poverty, he was supposed to be a beggar for the church. As Chaucer writes in his novel the reader knows just because that was what was supposed to happen, it never actually happened that way. The Friar that Chaucer introduces his audience to is one that does the opposite of what his duties actually were supposed to do. All of this being disguised as a good work. When the audience delves into the information Chaucer provides, there is a realization that the friar may not be the man good works that he is seen as. The Friar is seen in his sexual, financial with spiritual and social immorality. Friars are clergy men with the belief of celibacy in their hearts. • 28. Biography Of Felix Mendelssohn s The Mendelssohn Quartet The piece my ensemble piece will be performing is the Mendelssohn Quartet Op.44, movement 1. The composer, Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg. Germany. As a son of Moses Mendelssohn, who was a successful banker, Mendelssohn was born into a very wealthy family, which gave him certain advantages such as providing him a rich and ideal cultural setting for his artistic mind to flourish. His received good education as well. While Mendelssohn s father disliked Jews that converted from Judaism to Christianity to gain social acceptance outside of the jewish ghettos, Felix still ended up following Christianity, and even baptized his whole family in the name of Jesus. When Mendelssohn was a child, his family moved to Berlin where he would meet Ludwig Berger. Felix took piano lessons from Berger and also studied from Karl Zelter on compositions. In the early 19th century, Mendelssohn quickly established himself as prodigy and displayed an interest in arts and music thru his ability to perform on the piano and violin, as well as painting. At the young age of nine, he made is public debut and during his childhood he had written five operas and eleven full orchestral symphonies. In the late 1810 s, Felix Mendelssohn took part in the Singakedemie Music Academy, where he wrote numerous pieces such as multiple violin sonatas, a cantata, two piano sonatas, and a short opera. In 1821, Karl Zelter took Mendelssohn to the port, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Immediately, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Analysis of Investigation Regarding Manure and Antibiotics... Dolliver et al. (2007) investigated the effect of antibiotic usage on concentration of antibiotics due to manure use in the soil. Many farmers will add manure to their soils; in order to add nutrients to their crops. The farmer may not be aware that when they are adding the manure they may also be adding antibiotics. Sulfamethazine, a very important antibiotics used in livestock production, is given to the livestock and they release the antibiotics in their feces. In 2001, 400 tons of sulfamethazine were added to livestock yearly. In their experiment they focused on three main food crops; corn, lettuce, and potato. They wanted to know if the plant would uptake the antibiotics in they were grown in soil where the antibiotic was found. If the plant did uptake the antibiotics; it could lead to antibiotic resistance bacteria to be found in the plants. Followed by; an increase amount of antibiotic resistance bacteria consumed by humans and other animals. Manure is used extensively in the United State; livestock produce 132 million metric tons yearly for use in agricultural fields (Dolliver el al. 2007). The antibiotics that are found in the soil can persist for several hundred days in the soil. Various antibiotics break down at different rates. Phytotoxicity can be examined to test the effect of antibiotic exposure to the plants. The antibiotic exposure may reduce the root stalk of the plant or other important features of the plant. • 30. Suicide -A Serious Issue Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out. Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and everyday it will get worst, until the worst of all happends. This was said by philosophers Schopenhauer s father. • 31. Self-Medication In Wild Animals Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in at least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for the removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting toxic plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they eat, some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour. A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geophagy is the consumption of soil, and in wild animals this practice has the effect of neutralising the defensive poisons produced by plants. For instance, researchers discovered that some tropical birds practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are toxic. In an experiment with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the consumption of clay and the reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the leaves of many tropical plants contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that herbivores in tropical regions regularly consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease consumption of clay during specific times of the year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit. As a result, researchers have concluded that these wild animals ingest clay in order to neutralise the poisons contained in the plants they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Greek Tools And Techniques Essay Do you know very much about the Greeks? The Greeks had a hard life back then. They had to literally do everything by hand and they walked everywhere unless you had a horse and chariot. They had to farm by hand. They used multiple techniques. Some of the techniques were Raised fields, mixed cropping, The Three Sisters, and Slash and burn. These techniques were very helpful for the conditions they had to farm in. They had very many tools also. Some of the major tools were the plow, winnowing fork, sickles, and pruning hooks. These tools were used for their work. The tools and techniques were used to grow multiple crops. The crops were beans, barley, wheat, grapes, olives, squash, and maize (corn). Almost 75% of their land was farm ground. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Greeks planted crops in a field for one or two seasons and then let the field lie fallow for several seasons. In the meantime, they shifted to a field that had lain fallow for several years and removes the vegetation by cutting it down and burning it hence slash and burn. The ash from the burned vegetation added another layer of nutrients to the soil and that along, when the field was resting it let the soil regenerate. It could be dangerous because of destruction but it could be very helpful. All the techniques were nice, but don t forget about they also had to use tools to farm the ground. The major tools were the plow, sickle, winnowing fork, and a pruning hook. The plow was used for breaking up the ground. The Greek plow was made out of wood. It made furrows in the ground so they could plant the seeds. The plows were pulled by oxen or cows. Do you know what the Greeks had to harvest wheat and barley with? Well they had to harvest their corps with a sickle. A sickle, or bagging hook, is a hand held agricultural tool designed with variously curved blades and typically used for harvesting, or reaping, grain crops or cutting succulent forage chiefly for feeding livestock, either freshly cut or dried as hay. They would cut and stack the crop. Then they would have to come back and gather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the memoir Night, a memoir that takes place during the Holocaust in a time when Jews were persecuted that is told by a boy names Eliezer Wiesel, Jews were imprisoned under the hands of the Nazi for their race, culture, and beliefs. Nazi Germany was a power that violated many Universal Human Rights such as, the freedom from slavery, adequate living conditions, and the right to own personal property. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, people have the freedom from slavery. In the memoir Night, the setting takes place during the Holocaust when many Jews were imprisoned, and forced into labor. • 36. Turbo Code is Formed from the Parallel Concatenation of... The first turbo code, based on convolutional encoding, was introduced in 1993 by Berrou etal. Since then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo codes has been generalized to cover block codes as well as convolutional codes. Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel concatenation of two codes separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of processing data in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications receiver in order to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way of thinking in the construction of communication algorithms. This method was introduced in a system of error control for data transmission, called turbo code. This family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design innovations: concatenated encoding and iterative decoding. The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo detection, turbo equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case of transmission systems with interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant gains in BER performance, compared with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high throughput, low complexity and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative process is a great challenge. The Orthogonal Frequency Division ... Most binary mixings produced clear colorless solutions, milky white solutions, or white precipitates. The mixings of the known solutions were recorded in Matrix 1; half of the fields were blocked out to prevent repetitions and same mixtures. The table produced many notable observations; for instance, water produced clear colorless solutions in all mixings and mixings with lead (II) nitrate usually formed precipitates. To identify the unknown solutions, qualitative analysis was performed on the unknown solutions and compared with observations of known solutions in Matrix 1. Though Solutions 4 and 10 reacted with lead (II) nitrate to form a brown precipitate just as sodium sulfide would, the two unknown solutions did not form a clear brown solution with sodium oxalate and had different but similar properties in other binary mixings; this might be due to contamination, so Solutions 4 and 10 are likely sodium sulfide. Though it reacted differently with sodium sulfide, Unknown Solution 11 was identified as sodium oxalate because of its many white precipitate forming reactions. The other deciding factor was I found this poem easy to read at a nice steady pace with rhythm, rhyme and minimal variations in pitch and volume required.
