This document is a proposal for a student film project. It outlines the working title, target audience, rationale, concept, production techniques, evaluation plan, and schedule. The target audience is identified as teenagers who prefer action/adventure films with male protagonists and liberal political views. The concept involves three friends finding a mysterious phone that shows one friend will die, and they must try to save him. Production will utilize available equipment and editing software. Progress and strengths/weaknesses will be evaluated through blogging and feedback forms. The schedule lays out the plan across 5 weeks for pre-production, filming, post-production, and screening.

Audience:
 In summary it is clear the target audience appearsto be teenagers, who are more
likely to be male however with some female fans too, Most people this age prefer
action/adventure films and would prefer there to be no cliff-hangers, as well as this
it is clear that this age of audience if interested in politics favour the left side and
are more liberal, therefore, taking into account this research, in order for the
audience to enjoy it the protagonist should not represent a right wing political point
of view and instead one that the audience can identify with. Also a male protagonist
would probably be the best choice as it is evident from my research that most fans
of these genres are male and would be able to identify better with a male character.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
My progress in terms of film is fairly big considering I had never done anything like this before
other than on an induction day. The skills I have acquired so far are fairly basic, however I can
develop them via looking at tutorials on YouTube. My knowledge has developed quite a lot as I
never really considered the large amount of shots that will be necessary and how often you can
change the camera angle to make it look more professional, this will have a direct impact upon my
project as it will make me consider that and I will use a wider range of shots.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my film will firstly have to involve a clock, and the line “ that wasn’t supposed to
happen” My initial idea is for there to be three “friends” but one friend will be portrayed to look
lonely and by himself and to look like he is neglected/ bullied by the other friends. The friends will
be walking away somewhere where they stumble along an old phone. While doing so one friend
bullies the other one to the point where he gets so upset he runs away. After this happens the
other two friends begin to look at the phone, it glitches out (that wasn’t supposed to happen) and
shows a photo of the friend who ran away lying on the floor, dead at a set time. The friends turn to
each other and realise they have to catch their friend before he dies. They go on a run through the
location to find him, as they enter the location the friend who bullied him will fall and bang his head,
and the camera will show him dead, instead of where his friend should be. The research I need to
do is what the target audience are generally like who like films of this kind of genre, this will help
my project as I can add things into the film that generally appeal to people who like this genre. This
research can take place on yougov.profiles.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
It is unlikely I will need to consider certain special techniques such as a green screen as I
don’t need to add anything particularly out there into my film that I cannot already use at
college. However I may need to learn how to edit some more simple special effects as I will
need to for when the phone is supposed to glitch out. This could be seen from a simple
tutorial that could be found on YouTube. I will have to take into consideration the lighting of
each place where I film, although some lighting can be adjusted on the cameras ISO
setting, if there is not good enough natural light I could potentially use a torch light from
my phone. In terms of sound I need to consider if I need certain sounds and whether or not
I can create them myself using a sound recorder or instead downloading them from
YouTube.

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I firstly plan to evaluate the work through course developments on blogger. On blogger I will
discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each aspect of what I will work on, once I have done that
I will talk about how I can improve for the future. As well as blogger there is also an evaluation pro
forma. On this I will evaluate all of the pre production as well as the film itself, The film will be
evaluated by at least three people and they will say the strengths of it and how to improve.
