1) The document discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the production work for a double page magazine spread created in Photoshop. A strength is the layout of the three-column article, while a weakness is the plain white background.
2) Deciding where to place the heading and article was easy due to conventions, while structuring the article into columns was initially difficult to do on Quak.
3) Main tools used on Quak included the text tool to add writing, the column tool to structure the article, and image adjustments to enhance the double page image. Overall skills with Quak improved after creating the contents page.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Strengths and weaknesses:
There are strengths and weaknesses of my production work when creating my front cover. When
I began to make my front cover using Photoshop I was clueless as I have never fully understood
all of the tools included on Photoshop.
Strengths Weaknesses
A strength for my double page spread is my article (including my
pull quote) I really enjoy the layout of my article as it is structured
into 3 columns. Also my pull quote stands out from the rest of the
text which makes it appealing and easy for the audience to read.
A weakness from my double page spread is my background colour.
Because the background to my double page spread is white I feel it
looks slightly boring, however I did not want the background to
distract the readers from reading the text. But I would have liked
my background to have a slight pattern in it to make it more
interesting.
Another strength on my double page spread is my stand first. My
stand first is positioned in a bright yellow box. I chose the colour
bright yellow so that it matched the sofa on the picture. Also
because the colour was bright it stands out. This makes my target
audience read the stand first as it stands out to them.
I think that the main image on my double page spread could be
improved. I like my main image, however I do find it a weakness as I
it could suit my genre better by having it darker to make it look
more rock.
3. What did you find easy?
In the making of my double page spread I found that deciding where my heading and article is
going to be placed was easy. Because it is a code and convention that the heading must be at the
top of the page and the article must be near the main image on the opposite side of the page.
What I found easy: What I found difficult:
I found that finding my font for my heading on my double page spread
was easy. I went online to download the font I wanted, I felt that I
found a font which reflected the genre of my magazine. On Quak I felt
that the font was easy to insert and easy to place correctly.
On Quak I found it difficult to understand how to structure my article
into columns. At first I tried creating three separate text boxes the
adding my article into them. However the measurements were not
right and uneven. Then I realised that I needed to create one text box
and go on settings to add columns into the box. When I realised this
worked correctly and my article and pull quote fit perfectly.
I also found that when creating my double page spread making and
positioning my pull quote was easy. My pull quote is taken from my
article so I knew exactly what I was using to make the audience want to
read the rest of my article. On Quak there is a special setting to make
sure that no text overlaps my pull quote. I found this easy as all I had to
do was change the font of the pull quote and change the settings then
Quak did it for me.
I found it difficult to decide a colour for my stand first box. The colour
scheme of my magazine is red, black and white. I wanted to maintain
this colour scheme throughout the magazine, however on my double
page spread image there is a yellow sofa and the only way to make the
page fit together well was to make the stand first box also yellow using
the rectangle tool on Quak.
4. Main tools used on Quak:
There were main tools which I used in Quak to make my double page spread
successful. One of the tools I used in
Photoshop was ‘image’ then
‘adjustments’. This tool was to
edit my double page spread
image so that it looked better.
This made the colours on my
image stand out more which I
really liked.
On Quak I used the text tool to add my
writing for my article, stand first, title
and pull quote.
Another tool I used was the
column tool, I had to make the
right number of columns for
my double page spread so that
my article is positioned right
and the measurements on the
double page spread are even.
Overall I learnt many skills from
Quak once creating my
c0ontnets page I was more
experienced when it came to
making my double page spread.
