returning to his rightful place af-
ter a wait of close to 500 years,
when in 1528, Mir Baaki the
chief warrior of Babar demol-
ished the temple of Ram built at
Ramkot in Ayodhya and con-
structed a mosque.
Ram hi Kyun? The foreword is
aptly titled as Hemant Sharma
explores the power of Ram which
has sustained this fight in his
bhakts for the past 500 years
without any organisational struc-
ture or voice.
‘Ram hi dharm hai, dharm hi
Ram hai’! Hemant Sharma is and
always has been unapologetic
about his devotion and passion
for his religious beliefs, tradition
and culture and never more so
than in Ram Phir Laute.
The foreword resounds like the
bells of a temple with it’s power-
ful message of Ram! And it rings
a bell within us when he says, “
Har vyakti ke jeevan mein, har
kadam par jo bhi anukarniye hai,
wah Ram hai!” Hemant Sharma
succinctly puts forward that the
Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is not
just the birthplace of Shri Ram
but a symbol of the New Emerg-
ing India, which proclaims to all
and sundry that ‘Ram the, Ram
hai aur Ram rahenge’ especially
since there are some from this
very nation who had questioned
the very existence of Shri Ram.
Hemant is very hopeful that the
Ram Mandir will usher in a new
era of social and political philoso-
phy, on the oath of Ram Rajya.
Hemant Sharma puts not just his
heart and soul into his books but
also a lot of grey matter and time
well spent on research. Read the
foreword and then before you read
thechapters,fliptotheendandread

war, struggle and martyrs from the
long past of 1528 through to Janu-
ary 15, 1885 when this matter
reached court for the first time.
From pages 271 to 304 where
the book ends with January 22,
2024–it is a must read. Most of
people who will read this book
and I hope maximum people do,
will have very little factual idea
about the struggle of Ram Janmb-
hoomi and Hemant Sharma is a
credible and trusted source to
learn this lesson of history which
has impacted our present.
I am mortified that as a journal-
ist,studentofliteratureandadevo-
tee of Shri Ram, I was unaware of
theimmenseandcontinuousstrug-
gle and war waged by Hindus to
get back their Ram Janmbhoomi.
10warswerefoughtbetween1530
and 1556 on the Temple-Mosque
issue(afterthetemplewasrazedin
1528 by Mir Baaki). Swami Ma-
heshaanad ji fought with his army
of sadhus and sants and Rani Jairaj
Kumari fought with a women
army. Both were martyred. I was
never taught this in any history
class nor did it ever surface in any
discussion with literary people, I
am forced to wonder why?
Ram Phir Laute is neatly di-
vided into 8 chapters with the first
chapter, ‘Lokmangal ki Ayodhy’
on Ayodhya or as Hemant Shar-
ma says, Ayodhya ji, which
talks about the birthplace of
Shri Ram not as we know
it, the centre of a religious
feud bit as it truly was, the cen-
tre and founder of democracy -
Ram lok ke hain. Ayodhya Ram ki
hai!The second one ‘Sabke Ram’,
is not easy to define, it is some-
thing to be read and absorbed. The
chapter closes with the powerful
statement that ‘Ram Bhartiye San-
skriti ki urja ka Akshun strot hain
aur Ramkatha hamare samay ka
sabse behtar Sanskratik Detox
and it’s stays with you.
The third chapter ‘Siya Ram-
maya Sab Jag’ speaks about how
ethos of Shri Ram ties the world
together even today with the es-
sence of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutum-
bakam’and empowers India to be
aleadertotheworld.HemantShar-
ma traces the widespread presence
and impact of Shri Ram and Ram
katha not just in India, uniting the
North and South in a single thread
of Bhakt but across the world.
‘Shatabdiyon ka tap’, the
Fourth chapter sheds light in de-
tail, on history of Ayodhya which
is mentioned in the Arthveda and
the 500 years of bloody struggle
to reclaim the Ram Janmbhoomi
with anecdotes of present political
aspects and narratives. ‘Bhoog-
arbh ki gavaahi: Adalat ka faisla’
fifth chapter is about the case and
the clinching evidence presented
by the Archaeological Survey of
India. Sharma goes on to explain
the evidence and its historical and
religious significance also.
Bhartiyata ka Teerth, the
sixth deals with the new tem-
ple, the contributions of
the Ram Bhakts from across the
world and a detailed analysis of
the architectural design and exe-
cutions, which unite Bharat across
it’s length and breadth as every-
one regardless of caste, commu-
nity,regionorreligionhasbecome
a part of the soul of Ram Mandir
and its physical construction.
The seventh chapter, Mandir ke
Sadhak, pays tribute to the sadhaks
who fought through 500 years, it is
a critical reminder that the building
of the Ram Mandir is war which
hasbeenwonandwemustremem-
ber these sadhaks. The depth of
research done by Hemant Sharma
for this is creditable and must be
appreciated. Pages 224 to 269,
starting with Nihang Fakir Singh
Khalsa who was the first person
against whom a criminal case was
registeredfortryingtofreetheRam
Janmbhoomi on November 28,
1858 to K K Mohammad, the first
Muslimhistorianwhodeclaredthat
a Hindu Temple lies beneath the
Babri Masjid. Former PM PVNar-
simha Rao too finds a place in the
sadhaks (do read the book to find
out why!) along with many many
more including Atal Bihari Vaj-
payee, LK Advani, Uma Bharti,
Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan
Singh, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nrip-
endra Misra, Vijayaraje Scindia,
RajnathSingh,NarendraModiand
Mohan Bhagwat. For each one,
Sharma puts across a succinct pas-
sage on the exact contribution
which makes them a Sadhak!
The book is a lot to absorb but
it is a necessary read for each one
of us today as we look forward to
January 22, 2024 and the ‘Pran
Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla is his
rightful place after 500 years.This
book will throw light on the many
questions which have cropped up
in our mind since the fateful day
of December 6, 1992 and help us
to gain a deeper understanding of
the events which actually started
in 1528 and have reached a befit-
ting closure finally in 2024.

SHARMA’S HISTORICAL
NARRATIVES OF AYODHYA
The author of ‘Ram phir Laute’,
Hemant Sharma, News Director
TV9 is possibly best suited to
write a book
on the return
of Ram Lalla to
Ayodhya. We
have already
reviewed
Ayodhya- A
Battleground,
written by him as
was Ayodhya ka Chashmadeed.
Hemant Sharma is no mere
journalist writing about the
‘historical perspective’ of the
‘news’ of the day or present
times, Hemant is a man who
believes in Ram, in Ayodhya and
in Sanatan Dharm, a deep belief
which beautifully colours
every aspect of his life,
writing and words with
traditions, reverence,
power and fulfilment.

attending the foundation
stone laying ceremony for the
construction of the Ram Mandir,

PM MODI’S RESOLVE PAVED WAY
FOR RAM TEMPLE IN AYODHYA
rime Minister Naren-
dra Modi deserves the
most credit for ending
the centuries-old
controversy surround-
ing the Ram Janmbhoomi and
the construction of Ram Temple.
The connection of Narendra Modi
with the Ram Temple movement
dates back to a time when he was
not widely known. In 1990, during
the Rath Yatra led by Lal Krishna
Advani from Somnath, Narendra
Modi was the saarthi of that Rath.
On September 13, 1990, Narendra
Modi was the one who officially an-
nounced the route and programme
of the Rath Yatra. At that time,
Modi served as the organisational
secretary of the Bharatiya Janata
Party in Gujarat. He was also the
architect behind the entire plan of
the yatra, which eventually paved
the way for Narendra Modi’s rise in
Indian politics.
The following year, in 1991, Murli
Manohar Joshi initiated the ‘Ekta
Yatra’ from Kanyakumari. At that
time, Narendra Modi accompanied
him to Ayodhya in his capacity as
a minor party functionary in the
BJP. During casual conversations,
some journalists asked him when
he would return to Ayodhya. Modi
replied, “I will come back during the
time of temple construction.” As he
uttered these words, it seems he
had the specific blessings of Ma
Saraswati (Unki zubaan par Maa
Saraswati viraajmaan thi!). Per-
haps, in his subconscious, this was
a firm resolve. During the election
campaigns in 2014 and 2019, he
did not visit Ayodhya. In the 2014
Lok Sabha elections, which were
fought under his leadership, the
construction of the Ram Janmb-
hoomi temple was a key focus in
the BJP party manifesto.
When the matter of temple
construction reached the Supreme
Court from the Lucknow High
Court, the Modi government at
the Centre became active. In the
ongoing case of Ram Janmb-
hoomi in the Supreme Court, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi entrusted
his trusted commander, Amit Shah,
with the responsibility of oversee-
ing the proceedings. After this, the
hearing of the case in the Supreme
Court accelerated. The case started
being heard regularly in front of the
bench. This was the result of the
political will to resolve this age-old
dispute that had persisted for years.
Finally, the wait ended, and the
decision came in favour of ‘Ram
Lalla’. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi
Teerth Kshetra Trust was estab-
lished. The trust invited Narendra
Modi to the bhoomi pujan ceremony
of the grand and divine temple at
Ram Janmbhoomi. On August 5,
2020, Narendra Modi laid a 22,600
gram silver brick in the foundation
Ram Janmbhoomi. He became the
first Prime Minister of the country to
have the darshan of Ram Lalla. On
this occasion, he said, “‘Ram kaju
kinhe binu mohi kahan vishram”
(Without doing the work for Lord
Ram, how can I find peace!).

Global dengue surge as cases top 5 million

(WHO) sound-
ed the alarm on the threat
of dengue Friday as the
mosquito-borne disease
has spread to previously
untouched countries, in-
fecting over 5 million
and killing more than
5,000 this year.
Nearly 80 percent of
those cases, or 4.1 mil-
lion, have been reported
in theAmericas, followed
by SoutheastAsia and the
Western Pacific, Diana
Rojas Alvarez, the health
agency’s team lead on ar-
boviruses, disclosed at the
UN weekly briefing in
Geneva. Alvarez said cli-
mate change was partly to
blame as it led to higher
rainfall, humidity and
temperature, enabling
mosquitoes to thrive.
“Although 4 billion
people are at risk from
dengue, most of those in-
fected are symptom-free
and usually recover
within one to two
weeks,” the WHO said.
Severe dengue infections
are marked by shock, se-
vere bleeding or severe
organ impairment.
As there is no specific
treatment for dengue,
early detection and ac-
cess to medical care can
lower mortality rates due
to severe cases. The UN
agency said reported cas-
es skyrocketed to a record
5.2 million in 2019, a ten-
fold rise over 2000,
across 129 countries.

wants to shift to Bihar, and word is that
he has his eyes on the Bhagalpur seat.
Former ED officer and BJP MLA from
UP Rajeshwar Singh has his eyes set
on a Thakur-dominated seat, and it
could be Ghaziabad. If, God forbid, he
does not get this seat, then he is ready
to contest elections from Sultanpur or
Jaunpur as well. Faridabad MP and
Union Minister Kishanpal Gurjar is also
apprehensive about his ticket being cut,
so sensing the urgency of the occasion,
he is putting forward name of his close
confidant and Tigaon BJP MLA Rajesh
Nagar from this seat. A big business-
man, Vipul Goyal, is also staking his
claim on this seat, while the name of a
Jat leader and businessman, Yashveer
Dagar, is also in discussion here.
he independence of central
investigative agencies has
increased in the last decade
under the BJP-led central government.
However, there are leaders of some
Opposition parties who are still not
taking the ED summons seriously. In
this context, one can cite the name
of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant
Soren, while AAP supremo and Delhi
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have
also continuously challenged the ED.
Ignoring the third summons of ED in
the money laundering case, Kejriwal
has just gone to ‘Vipassana Camp’ for
10 days, which was his pre-scheduled
programme. If reliable sources are to
be believed, now the top level itself has
taken up the responsibility of ‘sharpen-
ing’ the ED. Nirmala Sitharaman is also
going to have equal involvement in
making the implementation easier.
T
T
JP seems to
have already
sensed the
election wind in Maha-
rashtra. If sources are
to be believed, BJP has
given an ultimatum to the
leaders of both its allies
in the state i.e. Eknath
Shinde and Ajit Pawar
that they should either
merge their parties with
BJP or be ready to con-
test elections separately
from BJP. Sources say
that it has become clear
in BJP’s survey that
neither Eknath Shinde
(by breaking away from
Shiv Sena) nor Ajit Pawar
(by breaking away from
Sharad Pawar) have
been able to gather any
big support base for
themselves. Furthermore,
neither did they dent
the dedicated vote bank
of Uddhav Thackeray’s
Shiv Sena, nor did these
two rebel leaders have
been able to make any
significant dent in Sharad
Pawar’s Maratha vote
bank. It may be noted that
the BJP had fought the
2019 Lok Sabha elections
in Maharashtra in alliance
with Shiv Sena and this
alliance won 41 out of
48 seats in the state.
This time BJP wants to
contest elections on its
own in Maharashtra, so
the responsibility of all
48 seats here has been
handed over to a team
of 24 Union Ministers
wherein one minister has
been given responsibility
of two seats.
B
ecently, the fourth meeting of the Op-
position Alliance I.N.D.I.A was held in
Delhi, where after discussing the results
of the recently concluded 5 assembly elections, a
proposal was presented. In this proposal, EVMs
were taken to task. If sources are to be believed,
Rahul Gandhi was adamant that ‘if the 2024
general elections are also conducted by Elec-
tronic Voting Machine (EVM), then the Opposition
parties should boycott this election.’ Nitish Kumar
and Jayant Choudhary were the first to protest
against Rahul’s idea. These leaders argued that
‘Elections were held using EVMs in Telangana
also, where Congress was victorious and today it
is in the government in that state.’ So, after this,
a consensus was reached among the Opposi-
tion leaders that it would not be
right to boycott the elections.
Instead, Opposition par-
ties should register their
protest with the Election
Commission regarding
EVMs and submit their
‘resolution’ to the Com-
mission. But it seems that
Rahul has made up his
mind that he will take the
issue of EVMs among
the public in the second
phase of his ‘Bharat
Jodo Yatra’.
amajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav,
along with his beloved uncle Ram Gopal
Yadav, came to meet Congress Presi-
dent Mallikarjun Kharge recently. Akhilesh had told
Kharge, “You will not hold any direct talks with any
other party in UP except us.” Additionally, it was
widely discussed recently that Bahujan Samaj Party
(BSP) supremo Mayawati had a long telephonic
conversation with Nitish Kumar, a prominent leader
of I.N.D.I.A Bloc, wherein ‘Behenji’ expressed to
Nitish her desire to join Oppn
Alliance. On this, Kharge ex-
plained to Akhilesh that no
decision can be taken in
UP without his consent.
“We regret treatment
you received in Madhya
Pradesh during these
Assembly elections and
it will not be repeated in
future. Whenever any issue
arises in your mind, call me
immediately and without
you, we cannot even
think of doing
anything in Ut-
tar Pradesh,”
Kharge told
Akhilesh.

n the ever-evolving world of fashion,
trends come and go, but some styles
stand the test of time. Baggy pants, once
synonymous with the relaxed vibes of
the ‘90s, are making a bold comeback,
redefining the boundaries of comfort and style.
From the oversized silhouettes of hip-hop culture to
the grunge-inspired fashion statements of the ’90s,
baggy pants have witnessed a transformative journey.
Today, designers are revisiting and reinterpreting this
iconic style, infusing it with contemporary aesthetics to
create a versatile wardrobe staple.
At the heart of the baggy pants resurgence is a cel-
ebration of comfort. The loose, relaxed fit provides
wearers with unparalleled freedom of movement,
making baggy pants an ideal choice for those who
prioritize ease without compromising on style.
Baggy pants have proven to be a chameleon in the
fashion realm, effortlessly adapting to various style
preferences. Paired with a fitted top for a balanced
silhouette or embraced as part of an oversized en-
semble for a laid-back aesthetic, these pants of-
fer endless styling possibilities. From streetwear
to casual chic, baggy pants seamlessly transi-
tion between diverse fashion domains.
Baggy pants have become synonymous with
the resurgence of streetwear aesthetics. Embraced
by fashion influencers and street style enthusiasts,
these pants effortlessly capture the essence of urban
fashion, exuding an effortlessly cool and laid-back
vibe.
In a world that values individuality, baggy pants pro-

uniqueness of the baggy pants resurgence.
The return of baggy pants aligns with the growing
emphasis on sustainability and slow fashion. Many
brands are incorporating eco-friendly materials and

ferings, catering to a conscious consumer base that val-
ues both style and environmental responsibility.
The resurgence of baggy pants represents a fashion
evolution that embraces comfort, versatility, and indi-
vidual expression. From the streets to the runways,
baggy pants are reclaiming their status as a timeless
wardrobe essential, proving that style and comfort need
not be mutually exclusive.

A living testament to the city's ability
to embrace both its history and the winds
of change, the UNESCO World Heritage
City, is a treasure trove that can only be
relished and appreciated through a lei-

and corner has a story to tell and every

So, when I was offered this opportu-
nity to join a heritage walking tour of the
Walled City, it was a proposition I could

cided on the ‘Panch Batti’as our rendez-
vous at a quarter after seven in the morn-
ing.
The M.I Road at that time is a dream-

e-rickshaws, cycles, and pedestrians.
While I was basking in the quiet solitude,

I recalled that just before COVID
brought tourism in the state to its knees,
Deepak Dhand of ‘Once Upon a Time in
Jaipur’heritage tours had initiated restor-
ing Ambassador cars to add a vintage
flavour to his city tours.
We began at the Johri or the Jauhari
Bazaar market which still retains rem-
nants of Jai Singh’s entrepreneurial
dreams. The merchants it is said were
invited through dispatched letters in the
18thcentury,givenspecialincentivesand
prime locations to settle in the city.
We began the two-km walking tour at
the Rudramati temple (1820). While a
stupa stood guard at the entrance, in the
ratherabandonedheritagebuildingalone
Pujaari was performing ritualistic morn-
ing prayer at the ‘Radha Krishna’temple.
“Jaipur is also known as ‘Mini Kashi.’
The walled city itself houses about 2500
temples,” informed Deepak.

through the ‘UNESCO World Heritage

After a brief interaction with the fam-
ily, we proceeded to the Ladana Haveli
also known as the (Auction House), the
Chordia Haveli (1760), and Daroga
Haveli (1800).Then there was the Kush-
al Bhawan that as they say used to be a
bar. Now rather dilapidated, it is used in
the city for small functions. In the heart
of Jaipur, amidst the bustling life of the
Pink City, several old mansions seemed
frozen in time. Abandoned for years,
their grandeur was concealed by layers
of dust and neglect.
But the juxtaposition of tradition and
modernity became evident as we navi-
gated through the rubble-strewn streets.
The once-stately havelis, witnesses to
centuries of history, were now in various
stages of renovation. The clang of con-

  • 4. s I sat down to re- view the book, the journalist in me jostled for space as the Ram bhakt loomed over the shoulder and sighed with happiness as it read the title of the latest book by He- mant Sharma, News Director TV9- Ram Phir Laute! The cover showcases an image of the proposed Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, in which Pran Prathi- shtha will be done on January 22, 2024 along with a sketch of Shri Ram, dressed as if returning from Vanvaas. For the people of faith and Ram bhakts, Ram Lalla is returning to his rightful place af- ter a wait of close to 500 years, when in 1528, Mir Baaki the chief warrior of Babar demol- ished the temple of Ram built at Ramkot in Ayodhya and con- structed a mosque. Ram hi Kyun? The foreword is aptly titled as Hemant Sharma explores the power of Ram which has sustained this fight in his bhakts for the past 500 years without any organisational struc- ture or voice. ‘Ram hi dharm hai, dharm hi Ram hai’! Hemant Sharma is and always has been unapologetic about his devotion and passion for his religious beliefs, tradition and culture and never more so than in Ram Phir Laute. The foreword resounds like the bells of a temple with it’s power- ful message of Ram! And it rings a bell within us when he says, “ Har vyakti ke jeevan mein, har kadam par jo bhi anukarniye hai, wah Ram hai!” Hemant Sharma succinctly puts forward that the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is not just the birthplace of Shri Ram but a symbol of the New Emerg- ing India, which proclaims to all and sundry that ‘Ram the, Ram hai aur Ram rahenge’ especially since there are some from this very nation who had questioned the very existence of Shri Ram. Hemant is very hopeful that the Ram Mandir will usher in a new era of social and political philoso- phy, on the oath of Ram Rajya. Hemant Sharma puts not just his heart and soul into his books but also a lot of grey matter and time well spent on research. Read the foreword and then before you read thechapters, fliptotheendandread thelast andeighthchapter–Samay Sakshi hai - the timeline. Hemant Sharmadrawsafactualtime-lineof war, struggle and martyrs from the long past of 1528 through to Janu- ary 15, 1885 when this matter reached court for the first time. From pages 271 to 304 where the book ends with January 22, 2024–it is a must read. Most of people who will read this book and I hope maximum people do, will have very little factual idea about the struggle of Ram Janmb- hoomi and Hemant Sharma is a credible and trusted source to learn this lesson of history which has impacted our present. I am mortified that as a journal- ist,studentofliteratureandadevo- tee of Shri Ram, I was unaware of theimmenseandcontinuousstrug- gle and war waged by Hindus to get back their Ram Janmbhoomi. 10warswerefoughtbetween1530 and 1556 on the Temple-Mosque issue(afterthetemplewasrazedin 1528 by Mir Baaki). Swami Ma- heshaanad ji fought with his army of sadhus and sants and Rani Jairaj Kumari fought with a women army. Both were martyred. I was never taught this in any history class nor did it ever surface in any discussion with literary people, I am forced to wonder why? Ram Phir Laute is neatly di- vided into 8 chapters with the first chapter, ‘Lokmangal ki Ayodhy’ on Ayodhya or as Hemant Shar- ma says, Ayodhya ji, which talks about the birthplace of Shri Ram not as we know it, the centre of a religious feud bit as it truly was, the cen- tre and founder of democracy - Ram lok ke hain. Ayodhya Ram ki hai!The second one ‘Sabke Ram’, is not easy to define, it is some- thing to be read and absorbed. The chapter closes with the powerful statement that ‘Ram Bhartiye San- skriti ki urja ka Akshun strot hain aur Ramkatha hamare samay ka sabse behtar Sanskratik Detox and it’s stays with you. The third chapter ‘Siya Ram- maya Sab Jag’ speaks about how ethos of Shri Ram ties the world together even today with the es- sence of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutum- bakam’and empowers India to be aleadertotheworld.HemantShar- ma traces the widespread presence and impact of Shri Ram and Ram katha not just in India, uniting the North and South in a single thread of Bhakt but across the world. ‘Shatabdiyon ka tap’, the Fourth chapter sheds light in de- tail, on history of Ayodhya which is mentioned in the Arthveda and the 500 years of bloody struggle to reclaim the Ram Janmbhoomi with anecdotes of present political aspects and narratives. ‘Bhoog- arbh ki gavaahi: Adalat ka faisla’ fifth chapter is about the case and the clinching evidence presented by the Archaeological Survey of India. Sharma goes on to explain the evidence and its historical and religious significance also. Bhartiyata ka Teerth, the sixth deals with the new tem- ple, the contributions of the Ram Bhakts from across the world and a detailed analysis of the architectural design and exe- cutions, which unite Bharat across it’s length and breadth as every- one regardless of caste, commu- nity, regionorreligionhasbecome a part of the soul of Ram Mandir and its physical construction. The seventh chapter, Mandir ke Sadhak, pays tribute to the sadhaks who fought through 500 years, it is a critical reminder that the building of the Ram Mandir is war which hasbeenwonandwemustremem- ber these sadhaks. The depth of research done by Hemant Sharma for this is creditable and must be appreciated. The book is a lot to absorb but it is a necessary read for each one of us today as we look forward to January 22, 2024 and the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla is his rightful place after 500 years. This book will throw light on the many questions which have cropped up in our mind since the fateful day of December 6, 1992 and help us to gain a deeper understanding of the events which actually started in 1528 and have reached a befit- ting closure finally in 2024. Anita Hada THE WRITER IS EDITOR AT FIRST INDIA RAM PHIR LAUTE The Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, is now just days away and Ram Phir Laute by Hemant Sharma, News Director TV9, is the perfect book to read at this time for an understanding of the importance of the Ram temple and the immense relevance of Shri Ram for Bharat, today! A SHARMA’S HISTORICAL NARRATIVES OF AYODHYA The author of ‘Ram phir Laute’, Hemant Sharma, News Director TV9 is possibly best suited to write a book on the return of Ram Lalla to Ayodhya. We have already reviewed Ayodhya- A Battleground, written by him as was Ayodhya ka Chashmadeed. Hemant Sharma is no mere journalist writing about the ‘historical perspective’ of the ‘news’ of the day or present times, Hemant is a man who believes in Ram, in Ayodhya and in Sanatan Dharm, a deep belief which beautifully colours every aspect of his life, writing and words with traditions, reverence, power and fulfilment. Modi offers prayers while attending the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Ram Mandir, in Ayodhya on August 5, 2020. PM MODI’S RESOLVE PAVED WAY FOR RAM TEMPLE IN AYODHYA rime Minister Naren- dra Modi deserves the most credit for ending the centuries-old controversy surround- ing the Ram Janmbhoomi and the construction of Ram Temple. The connection of Narendra Modi with the Ram Temple movement dates back to a time when he was not widely known. In 1990, during the Rath Yatra led by Lal Krishna Advani from Somnath, Narendra Modi was the saarthi of that Rath. On September 13, 1990, Narendra Modi was the one who officially an- nounced the route and programme of the Rath Yatra. At that time, Modi served as the organisational secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat. He was also the architect behind the entire plan of the yatra, which eventually paved the way for Narendra Modi’s rise in Indian politics. The following year, in 1991, Murli Manohar Joshi initiated the ‘Ekta Yatra’ from Kanyakumari. At that time, Narendra Modi accompanied him to Ayodhya in his capacity as a minor party functionary in the BJP. During casual conversations, some journalists asked him when he would return to Ayodhya. Modi replied, “I will come back during the time of temple construction.” As he uttered these words, it seems he had the specific blessings of Ma Saraswati (Unki zubaan par Maa Saraswati viraajmaan thi!). Per- haps, in his subconscious, this was a firm resolve. During the election campaigns in 2014 and 2019, he did not visit Ayodhya. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which were fought under his leadership, the construction of the Ram Janmb- hoomi temple was a key focus in the BJP party manifesto. When the matter of temple construction reached the Supreme Court from the Lucknow High Court, the Modi government at the Centre became active. In the ongoing case of Ram Janmb- hoomi in the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Narendra Modi entrusted his trusted commander, Amit Shah, with the responsibility of oversee- ing the proceedings. After this, the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court accelerated. The case started being heard regularly in front of the bench. This was the result of the political will to resolve this age-old dispute that had persisted for years. Finally, the wait ended, and the decision came in favour of ‘Ram Lalla’. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was estab- lished. The trust invited Narendra Modi to the bhoomi pujan ceremony of the grand and divine temple at Ram Janmbhoomi. On August 5, 2020, Narendra Modi laid a 22,600 gram silver brick in the foundation Ram Janmbhoomi. He became the first Prime Minister of the country to have the darshan of Ram Lalla. On this occasion, he said, “‘Ram kaju kinhe binu mohi kahan vishram” (Without doing the work for Lord Ram, how can I find peace!). —Hemant Sharma (Translation. Pages 267 268, Ram Phir Laute). Nearly 80 percent of those cases, or 4.1 mil- lion, have been reported in theAmericas, followed by SoutheastAsia and the Western Pacific, Diana Rojas Alvarez, the health agency’s team lead on ar- boviruses, disclosed at the UN weekly briefing in Geneva. Severe dengue infections are marked by shock, se- vere bleeding or severe organ impairment. PREPARATION TO MAKE ED MORE POWERFUL! rusted sources associated with the BJP’s top brass have revealed that the BJP may cancel the tickets of most of its sitting MPs in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. That is, if there is any anti-incumbency in the respective seats, then there is full preparation to cut the tickets of such MPs. So, many sitting MPs have already started looking for a new seat for themselves. Nishikant Dubey, MP from Godda, Jharkhand, who was in the news for the Mahua Moitra episode, wants to shift to Bihar, and word is that he has his eyes on the Bhagalpur seat. Former ED officer and BJP MLA from UP Rajeshwar Singh has his eyes set on a Thakur-dominated seat, and it could be Ghaziabad. If, God forbid, he does not get this seat, then he is ready to contest elections from Sultanpur or Jaunpur as well. Faridabad MP and Union Minister Kishanpal Gurjar is also apprehensive about his ticket being cut, so sensing the urgency of the occasion, he is putting forward name of his close confidant and Tigaon BJP MLA Rajesh Nagar from this seat. A big business- man, Vipul Goyal, is also staking his claim on this seat, while the name of a Jat leader and businessman, Yashveer Dagar, is also in discussion here. he independence of central investigative agencies has increased in the last decade under the BJP-led central government. However, there are leaders of some Opposition parties who are still not taking the ED summons seriously. In this context, one can cite the name of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, while AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have also continuously challenged the ED. Ignoring the third summons of ED in the money laundering case, Kejriwal has just gone to ‘Vipassana Camp’ for 10 days, which was his pre-scheduled programme. If reliable sources are to be believed, now the top level itself has taken up the responsibility of ‘sharpen- ing’ the ED. Nirmala Sitharaman is also going to have equal involvement in making the implementation easier. T T JP seems to have already sensed the election wind in Maha- rashtra. If sources are to be believed, BJP has given an ultimatum to the leaders of both its allies in the state i.e. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar that they should either merge their parties with BJP or be ready to con- test elections separately from BJP. Sources say that it has become clear in BJP’s survey that neither Eknath Shinde (by breaking away from Shiv Sena) nor Ajit Pawar (by breaking away from Sharad Pawar) have been able to gather any big support base for themselves. Furthermore, neither did they dent the dedicated vote bank of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, nor did these two rebel leaders have been able to make any significant dent in Sharad Pawar’s Maratha vote bank. It may be noted that the BJP had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra in alliance with Shiv Sena and this alliance won 41 out of 48 seats in the state. This time BJP wants to contest elections on its own in Maharashtra, so the responsibility of all 48 seats here has been handed over to a team of 24 Union Ministers wherein one minister has been given responsibility of two seats. B ecently, the fourth meeting of the Op- position Alliance I.N.D.I.A was held in Delhi, where after discussing the results of the recently concluded 5 assembly elections, a proposal was presented. In this proposal, EVMs were taken to task. If sources are to be believed, Rahul Gandhi was adamant that ‘if the 2024 general elections are also conducted by Elec- tronic Voting Machine (EVM), then the Opposition parties should boycott this election.’ Nitish Kumar and Jayant Choudhary were the first to protest against Rahul’s idea. These leaders argued that ‘Elections were held using EVMs in Telangana also, where Congress was victorious and today it is in the government in that state.’ So, after this, a consensus was reached among the Opposi- tion leaders that it would not be right to boycott the elections. Instead, Opposition par- ties should register their protest with the Election Commission regarding EVMs and submit their ‘resolution’ to the Com- mission. But it seems that Rahul has made up his mind that he will take the issue of EVMs among the public in the second phase of his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. amajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, along with his beloved uncle Ram Gopal Yadav, came to meet Congress Presi- dent Mallikarjun Kharge recently. Akhilesh had told Kharge, “You will not hold any direct talks with any other party in UP except us.” Additionally, it was widely discussed recently that Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati had a long telephonic conversation with Nitish Kumar, a prominent leader of I.N.D.I.A Bloc, wherein ‘Behenji’ expressed to Nitish her desire to join Oppn Alliance. On this, Kharge ex- plained to Akhilesh that no decision can be taken in UP without his consent. “We regret treatment you received in Madhya Pradesh during these Assembly elections and it will not be repeated in future. Whenever any issue arises in your mind, call me immediately and without you, we cannot even think of doing anything in Ut- tar Pradesh,” Kharge told Akhilesh.
