The case of declaring the
areas around the capital,
including Shivdaspura
and Badapadampura, as a
major economic zone has
once again faced a set-
back. First India News
had reported on this issue
a few days ago. The rea-
son for this setback was
that the notification is-
sued by the JDA was not
published in the Official
Gazette as required. The
implementation of the
land use plan for this area
could only be done after
its publication in the ga-
zette. However, now the

Minister, Shanti Dhari-
wal, has given approval
to publish the notifica-
tion in the gazette.
With the implementa-

be possible. Approxi-
mately 2,000 hectares of
land in Shivdaspura and

ParchedRamgarh
Once the chief source of city’s water supply, the 125-year-old Ramgarh Dam used to get water from four rivers,
which included the Rora, Ban Ganga, Tala, and Madhoveni rivers. After its construction in 1903, the Ramgarh Dam
overflowed for the first time after 21 years. The last time the Ramgarh Dam was completely filled was after the
floods in 1981. Even then, the government had ordered the opening of the gates of the Ramgarh Dam. In the
following years, encroachments were made in the canals, drains, and smaller rivers and tributries of the Ramgarh
Dam, which led to the closure of the water supply to it. After the encroachments increased on the Ban Ganga and its
tributaries, not even a single drop of water could reach it which has been dry for years now. SUNIL SHARMA

DEBATE OVER
TIME, DEATH AND
“A THOUSAND SUNS”
movie on J Robert Oppenheimer, Father of
the Atomic Bomb which annihilated Hiro-
shima has raised a debate around the scien-
tist’s understanding of Bhagavad Gita, particularly
with regard to his interpretation of the word “Kaal”.
The word comes up in verse 32 of Chapter 11 when
Lord Krishna reveals his Supreme Being to Arjun
and tells him “Asmi Kaal’’. Oppenheimer interprets
it to mean “I am the Destroyer”. Devdutt Pattnaik
disagrees and says that Kaal refers to time, not death.
Over time everything is destroyed.
After the blast, Oppenheimer said, “If the radiance
of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky,
that would be like the splendour of the mighty one…I
am become Death, Destroyer of worlds.” Questioning
Oppenheimer’s understanding of the Gita on the
groundsofhisfailuretodifferentiatebetweenTimeand
Death is unfair. His description of the radiance of “a
thousand sun” finds indirect mention in verse 30 “…
Yourterriblerays,fillingtheuniversewithbrilliance…”

TIHAR ADMN GOOFS
UP IN MALIK’S CASE

Justice Surya Kant and Justice Dipankar Datta by

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front is also facing
charges in the killing of four IAF personnel and ab-
duction of Rubaiya Saeed in 1989.Adesignated court
in Jammu had ordered his physical presence. The
order was stayed by the Supreme Court in April.
The presence of Malik in court must have caused
consternation among the judges and also Solicitor-
General Tushar
Mehta who took a
serious objection to
his presence. The
fault obviously lay
with Tihar jail of-
ficials. Director-
General of Prisons
Sanjay Beniwal
said it was due to a
lapse on the part of
jail authorities. A
jail official was re-
ported to have said
that there was
“some miscommu-
nication with Ma-
lik’s documenta-
tion records”. An
inquiry has been
ordered.
This is not the
first time that Tihar
jail administration
is being blamed for
a security slip-up.
In April this year
gangster Prince Tewatia’s brutal murder also was
due to a serious security lapse. In fact, Tihar inmates
have access to everything---liquor, mobile phones,
and money transactions. Conman Sukesh Chan-
drasekhar is alleged to have made spoof calls to film
actress Jacqueline Fernandez from inside Tihar. A
couple of years ago Delhi Police were surprised to
learn that gangster Jitender Gogi and his accomplice
made a Rs 5 crore extortion call from Tihar. Even
the high-profile murder of Sidhu Moosewala was
allegedly plotted inside Tihar.

plied to our maintaining
good health. Absence of
distressing symptoms does
not necessarily mean good
health. To take medicines
for diseases which have
developed is comparable
to the behaviour of those
persons who begin to dig a
well after they are thirsty.
Why do so few, give
thought to health mainte-
nance? Many may feel they
are too busy. The average
person does not have any
real mission in life – some-
thing very important for
one who hopes to accom-
plish the best according to
one’sabilities.Manyignore
following a routine of rest,
and exercise tailored to
their individual needs. Sen-
sible eating habits is a rem-
edy for mental health main-
tenance. Being overweight,
due to sedentary occupa-
tion, requires eating less by
controlling one’s appetite.
Self control at the table
– how can one accomplish
it? It pays to do so. Some
make it a rule not to take
more than one helping if
they have a variety in a
meal, or cut down on rich
desserts replacing it with a
fruit. Eating slowly and at
times skipping a meal pre-
vents overeating. Others,
limit themselves to fruits as
one meal a day for health
maintenance. Over refined
and highly processed foods
lower iron levels in the
body and increase acid for-
mation. Vegetables and ap-
ples have an alkalizing ef-
fect and also aid in keeping
good physical as well as
mental health.
Regular exercise has a
remedial value for those
suffering from diverse ill-
nesses and promotes well-
being in a person who is
healthy. Working at a
steady pace and not going
full speed is beneficial.
Musicians learn to relax if
they have to perform at
their best without undue
fatigue. The same princi-
ple applies for work that
require alertness. Relaxa-
tion provides physical ease
and is conducive to mental
and emotional balance.
Scheduling too much in
a day and being active
every waking moment,
from the time one gets up
until one goes to bed,
weakens health. Taking
regular breaks calms the
mind. Sleeplessness may
be caused by not eating
right, neglecting workouts
or excessive anxiety, feel-
ings of guilt or any detri-
mental emotions. Slowing
down in the evening helps
the body and mind to relax.
Some become frustrated
as they try to manage their
daily responsibilities. The
urge to become angry and
blow off steam can be over-
powering. People generally
learn to express anger by
copying the angry behav-
iour they see around them.
Anger is, also, triggered
when one feels slighted.An
imagined threat to one’s au-
thority or reputation stirs up
feelings of provocation.
Self-centered persons easi-
ly get affronted and may
hold on to anger for days,
weeks, months or longer.
Many believe that if
negative emotions are bot-
tled up or repressed, they
would later resurface as a
psychological disorder.
But the best way to avoid
saying or doing something
that one may later regret, is
not to get ‘heated up.’Peo-
ple with very high expecta-
tions tend to have greater
problems with anger.
When something does not
measure up to them, disap-
pointment quickly follows.
To combat this mentality,
it is good to keep in mind
that sooner or later each
one will make errors.
‘Money sickness syn-
drome,’ is a term used for
people who are stressed
with money worries. They
experience symptoms like
skin rashes, anger and
nervousness. Budgeting
money gives an internal
locus of control and reduc-
es stress and strain. Show-
ing empathy also improves
health, well-being and re-
lationships when one re-
lieves the suffering of oth-
ers. One feels happier,
more optimistic, less lone-
ly and less inclined to give
in, to negative thoughts.
Empathy is the ability to
share someone else’s feel-
ings or experiences by im-
agining what it would be
like to be in that person’s
situation. When others are
unthankful or say unkind
things, talking to a trusted
friend about upsetting feel-
ings can aid in staying emo-
tionally balanced. Mental
health experts say that peo-
ple need spiritual values in
order to be truly happy. We
see this in the fact that one
wants to belong to some-
thing or serve a cause great-
er than oneself. To satisfy
this need, some devote their
time to nature, art, music
and similar things.
To have healthy emo-
tions, one needs to have
healthy thoughts despite
setbacks. It will not happen
by following the line of
least resistance. Patiently
taking one day at a time,
moving at one’s own pace

is achievable in life’s daily

COLD BAG POSTING: CHAIR OF COMMISSIONER,
DEPARTMENTAL ENQUIRIES AWAITS APPOINTMENT!
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur
he post of Com-

the past one month. More
than one Commissioner
can also be posted on this
position and in the past
there have been instances
when there have been
three Commissioner at a
time as well. Moreover,
only an IAS can be posted
in this position. For the
past six months, only one
Commissioner - Rajendra
Singh Shekhawat - was
posted but he too was
transferred on May 15 and
since then DoP has not
made any appointment.
Actually this posting is
considered a ‘cold bag’
posting in the bureaucra-
cy and some even con-
sider it to be a ‘punish-
ment posting’. Hence at
times there are more than
one commission.
Pritam B Yashwant and
Mohan Lal Yadav were

spectively, in GAD and
both the officers conduct-
ed a mistake in one case
and both of them , in De-
cember 2020, were there-
after posted as Commis-

year long leave and when
he returned to the same
post in Nov 2022, the DoP
did not even allot him a

stayed at his home!
Be it senior or junior,
IAS have been posted on
this post. In fact, Ravis-
hankar Srivastava has
served on the post for no
less than four time and R.
Venkateswaran thrice.
Niranjan Arya served on
this post from April 2015
to December 2018, a ten-
ure of forty four months.
Similarly, when the gov-
ernmentchanged,Praveen
Gupta too was posted on
this post.As of now, three
Additional Commission-
ers and six Deputy Com-
missioners have been
posted in Departmental
Enquiries. Two RAS of-
ficers - Gunjan Soni and
Suman Panwar - have
been posted as Additional
Commissioner last week.
It is being believed that
inthenewIAStransferlist
a new Commissioner
would be posted here and
only DoP knows if there
will be one or more Com-
missioners posted here.
The bureaucracy is now
eager to know who is be-

BJP’S STRATEGY AGAINST OPPOSITION
...AND FINALLY
anjay Mishra, the current director of the

will replace him. Some of the names that have
emerged are Nitin Gupta, the current chairman

of the Financial

Seemanchal Das,

former Private Secretary to Arun Jaitley, hails
from Odisha and is a 1988 batch IRS. He was
appointed Advisor to the Executive Director of the
IMF in 2020 for three years.
he BJP is now working on a new strat-
egy to counter the latest announce-
ment by the united opposition. Its view
was seen in the NDA dinner, when PM
Modi called for 'equal participation and equal
responsibility' from the 38 constituents of the
NDA. Prime Minister Modi had dinner with NDA
leaders. Leaders like Eknath Shinde, Jitan Ram
Manjhi, Neiphiu Rio of Nagaland and Palani
Swamy of Tamil Nadu were sitting at the din-
ner table with the PM. Other top leaders of the
government had dinner with Jana Sena leader
and big hero of Telugu films Pawan Kalyan
and other lead-
ers. It is another
matter that more
than half of the
parties involved
in increasing the
count in NDA do
not have a single
won seat, but these parties have the ability to
influence the vote count. On the other hand, it
is also true that BJP alone is enough in front
of the new opposition alliance. Apart from this,
the BJP leaders have also made a strategy that
'all the parties included in NDA will be divided
into groups of 10-10 and senior ministers will
be made in-charge and co-incharge of one such
group, who will ensure coordination with these
parties. Whenever the top leadership has to
meet these constituents, they will meet them as
a group, that is, the NDA has geared up to give
an equal answer to the opposition.
SP supremo Mayawati may have kept an equal distance from both the
NDA and INDIA alliances, yet she is busy preparing for the 2024 Lok
Sabha elections from within. Sources reveal that after the Bengaluru
meeting of the united opposition, Mayawati
had a long chat with two of her close confidants,
Satish Chandra Mishra and Uma Shankar Singh in
which ‘Behenji’ specifically expressed concern about
the recent mayoral elections in UP. Maya believed
that ‘her two core vote bank Dalits and Muslims are
also shifting from BSP’. She also feels that ‘in recent
times the trend of Muslim and Dalit voters has in-
creased towards Congress’. It is said that Mayawati
has authorized Satish Chandra Mishra to ‘talk directly to the top leadership of
Congress and find out if there can be a direct alliance between Congress and BSP
in UP? If yes, then what will be the mathematics of seat coordination?

BJP KEEPING DISTANCE FROM CHANDRABABU NAIDU?
n response to ‘INDIA’, the NDA
meeting convened in Delhi was
attended by 38 parties, but
TDP ie Telugu Desam Party’s
absence from that meeting was surprising,
while prior to the meeting TDP re-joining
NDA was almost certain. TDP chief Chan-
drababu Naidu was also singing praises
of PM Modi for the past several months
and he had also held meetings with Amit
Shah and JP Nadda in Delhi. So, it was
believed that Chandrababu Naidu would
again join the NDA in the coming
days. But all Naidu’s hopes were
dashed when the BJP sidelined
him. There is a big reason behind
this. BJP has recently conducted
a comprehensive opinion poll in
Andhra and Telangana and it is
said that after the results of this
survey, the saffron party has
become more alert. The
results of this survey
revealed that the
base of Naidu’s
Telugu Desam has slipped in both the
states of Andhra and Telangana. In such a
situation, BJP did not want to upset Jagan
Mohan Reddy in Andhra and KCR in Tel-
angana for Naidu. While Jagan’s support
in the Rajya Sabha was the BJP’s rallying
cry, KCR has been roped in by the BJP to
breach the opposition’s citadel in Maha-
rashtra, which has a large Telugu-speak-
ing population in the Vidarbha region.
So, bringing a 360-degree change in its
strategy, the BJP declared Chandrababu’s
staunch opponent in Andhra and
his sister-in-law, NT Rama Rao’s
daughter D. Purandeshwari as
the state president of the Andhra
BJP. And in Telangana, Union
minister G. Kishan Reddy was
appointed as the state president
of Telangana by removing
Bandi Sanjay who is considered
a staunch supporter of
Chandrababu and a
staunch opponent of
KCR.

Earlier it was discussed
that he is not happy

when Nitish reached

Mamata has openly

This shows that the
main opposition parties
are also looking at the
2024 general elections
as a battle of ‘Modi vs

has also appeared in a
different avatar these
days. Congress is also
riding on the waves of

In Bihar where Lalu

n a world that
c o n t i n u a l l y
evolves, one as-
pect of fashion
remains eter-
nally captivat-
ing: the enduring allure of prin-
cess fashion. Inspired by regal
opulence and fairy tale en-
chantment, princess fashion
takes us on a journey back to
the realm of royalty, where so-
phistication meets whimsy, and
elegance reigns supreme.
Princess fashion tran-
scends generations with its
timeless appeal. Drawing
inspiration from classic
fairy tales, historical peri-
ods, and real-life royalty,
this style encapsulates
grace, femininity, and gran-
deur. Ball gowns adorned
with intricate embroidery,
delicate lace, and cascading
layers of tulle evoke a
sense of magic and fan-
tasy. The signature sil-
houette, characterized
by fitted bodices and
voluminous skirts, ac-
centuates the feminine
form and adds an
air of regal sophistication.
Rich textiles such as satin,
silk, and velvet are essential to
create the regal allure of prin-
cess fashion. These luxurious
fabrics drape elegantly, exud-
ing an aura of glamour and
grandiosity.
Delightful accents like bows,
ribbons, and floral motifs in-
fuse a touch of whimsy into
princess fashion. These dainty
embellishments contribute to
the overall fairy tale
charm.
While prin-
cess fashion is
deeply rooted in history, it con-
tinues to inspire contemporary
designers to create modern in-
terpretations that capture the
essence of the genre. Elements
of princess fashion can be
found in various clothing piec-
es, from evening gowns to
cocktail dresses, and even in
casual wear with the use of tulle
skirts or delicate lace accents.
The fascination with prin-
cess fashion extends beyond
the runways and into popular
culture. Iconic Disney prin-
cesses like Cinderella, Belle,
and Elsa have played a pivotal
role in popularizing this fash-
ion style among younger audi-
ences. Their iconic ball gowns
have become symbols of ele-
gance and dreams, influencing
countless bridal collections and
red-carpet looks.
The allure of princess fash-
ion is not confined to special
occasions or elaborate events.
Embracing the princess within
can be as simple as incorporat-
ing elements of this style into
everyday wear. A flowing
maxi dress with subtle
embellishments or a
chic top with delicate lace de-
tailing can infuse a touch of
fairy tale charm into any ward-
robe.
Princess fashion
weaves a captivating tap-
estry of elegance, magic,
and timeless charm.
Rooted in history and
embraced by modern-
day fashionistas, this
style continues to en-
chant with its regal al-
lure and enduring ap-
peal. Whether on the
red carpet or the
streets, the princess
fashion phenomenon
reminds us that a
touch of whimsy and
grace can elevate any
outfit to a royal level
of elegance. So, em-
brace your inner prin-
cess and let your
fashion choic-
es transport
you to a
world of
enchant-
m e n t
and ele-
gance!

s the monsoon
season ap-
proaches, it's
time to revamp
our beauty
routines to en-
sure our make-
up stays fresh and flawless de-
spite the unpredictable weather.
Renowned makeover expert Ri-
cha Agarwal shares some handy
tips for essential monsoon make-
up and beauty care through
which you can ace your look
without worrying about makeup
meltdowns. Let's dive in!o it.
PRIME YOUR CANVAS
Before applying any makeup, it's
crucial to prep your skin to en-
sure a smooth and long-lasting
finish. Start by cleansing your
face with a gentle cleanser to re-
move any dirt or excess oil.
Follow up with a lightweight
moisturizer to keep your skin hy-
drated. Finally, apply a primer
suitable for your skin type to cre-
ate a smooth base for your
makeup.
CHOOSE WATERPROOF
FORMULAS
To combat the humidity and rain,
opt for waterproof makeup prod-
ucts. Waterproof foundation,
concealer, eyeliner, and mascara
will ensure your makeup stays
intact even in the heaviest down-
pours. These products are formu-
lated to resist water and sweat,
providing you with a flawless
look that won't melt away.
LIGHTEN UP YOUR BASE
During the monsoon season,
it's advisable to go for a
lightweight and breathable
foundation. Heavy foun-
dations can feel suffocat-
ing on the skin and are
more likely to melt off
in humid conditions.
Instead, choose a
lightweight, water-
based foundation or
a tinted moisturiz-
er to even out your skin tone
while allowing your skin to
breathe.
OPT FOR CREAM-BASED
PRODUCTS
Incorporating cream-based
products into your monsoon
makeup routine can be a game-
changer. Cream blushes and eye-
shadows tend to blend seam-
lessly into the skin, providing a
natural and dewy finish. They
also have better staying power
compared to powder products,
making them perfect for the
monsoon season.
SET YOUR MAKEUP
To ensure your makeup lasts all
day, don't forget to set it with a
waterproof setting spray or
translucent powder. Setting
sprays help to lock your makeup
in place, preventing it from
smudging or melting off. Trans-
lucent powder, on the other hand,
helps to control shine and absorb
excess oil, leaving your skin
looking fresh and matte.
FOCUS ON EYE MAKEUP
Since the monsoon season often
comes with unpredictable rain
showers, it's important to pay ex-
tra attention to your eye makeup.
Opt for a waterproof eyeliner and
mascara to prevent smudging and
panda eyes.Additionally, choose
long-wearing eyeshadows and
avoid heavy, dark smokey eye
looks that are prone to creasing.
KEEP YOUR LIPS HYDRATED
Moisturized lips are a must-have
during the monsoon season. Keep
your lips hydrated by applying a
lip balm or a hydrating lipstick.
Optforbrighterandvibrantshades
to add a pop of color to your over-
all look. Avoid matte lipsticks, as
they tend to accentuate dryness
and may not last as long. With
these monsoon makeup and beau-
ty care tips, you can confident-
ly step out during the rainy
season without worrying
about your makeup
melting away. Re-
member to prep
your skin, choose
waterproof for-
mulas, and focus
on lightweight
and cream-
based products.
Don't forget to
set your makeup
and pay attention
to your eye makeup
and lip care. Embrace
the monsoons while look-
ing effortlessly beautiful!

numerous fashion icons who have left
an indelible mark on the world of style.
From the golden era to the present day,
these Bollywood fashion icons have
captured the hearts of
millions and continue to
inspire fashion enthusi-
asts around the globe.
One of the most iconic
figures in Bollywood
fashion is the legendary
actress, Madhubala.
Known for her grace and
elegance, Madhubala’s

1950s and 1960s set her
apart. Her ethereal saris,
delicate jewellery, and
signature winged eyelin-
er continue to be emulat-

who seek to recreate her classic and
feminine look.
Moving into the 1970s, we encounter
the style icon Zeenat Aman. With her
bold fashion choices and fearless atti-
tude, Zeenat Aman revolutionized the
Bollywood fashion scene. Her bell-
bottom pants, bohemian maxi dresses,
and statement accessories became syn-

ZeenatAman’s fashion sense embodied
the spirit of the era and left an everlast-
ing impact on Bollywood fashion.
As we enter the 1990s, we come
across the effervescent fashionista,
Kajol. Known for her infec-
tious energy and relatable
charm, Kajol’s fashion
choices resonated with
a generation. Her vi-
brant and eclectic
ensembles, whether
it was her colour-
ful printed sal-
war suits or her
trendy crop tops paired with jeans,
made her a style icon for the youth of
that time.
In the early 2000s, Bollywood wit-
nessed the emergence of the ever-styl-
ish Rani Mukerji. With her chic and
contemporary fashion sense, Rani
Mukerji became a trendsetter. From her
stylish fusion outfits to her elegant red-
carpet appearances, she effortlessly
combined traditional elements with
modern silhouettes, creating a unique
and captivating style.
Fast forward to the
present day, and we
have the charismatic
fashion icon, Deepika
Padukone. Known for
her impeccable fash-
ion choices, Deepika’s

made headlines. Her
ability to effortlessly
carry off avant-
garde couture
gowns or chic and

tinct styles, be it the time-
less elegance of Madhubala
or the contemporary chic of
Deepika Padukone, contin-

The word comes up in verse 32 of Chapter 11 when Lord Krishna reveals his Supreme Being to Arjun and tells him “Asmi Kaal’’. Oppenheimer interprets it to mean “I am the Destroyer”. Devdutt Pattnaik disagrees and says that Kaal refers to time, not death. Over time everything is destroyed. After the blast, Oppenheimer said, “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendour of the mighty one…I am become Death, Destroyer of worlds.” Questioning Oppenheimer’s understanding of the Gita on the groundsofhisfailuretodifferentiatebetweenTimeand Death is unfair. His description of the radiance of “a thousand sun” finds indirect mention in verse 30 “… Yourterriblerays, fillingtheuniversewithbrilliance…” A TIHAR ADMN GOOFS UP IN MALIK’S CASE convict in the terror-funding case,Yasin Ma- lik’s physical presence in the Supreme Court in the absence of any specific order took Justice Surya Kant and Justice Dipankar Datta by surprise. The order was stayed by the Supreme Court in April. The presence of Malik in court must have caused consternation among the judges and also Solicitor- General Tushar Mehta who took a serious objection to his presence. The fault obviously lay with Tihar jail of- ficials. Director- General of Prisons Sanjay Beniwal said it was due to a lapse on the part of jail authorities. A jail official was re- ported to have said that there was “some miscommu- nication with Ma- lik’s documenta- tion records”. An inquiry has been ordered. This is not the first time that Tihar jail administration is being blamed for a security slip-up. In April this year gangster Prince Tewatia’s brutal murder also was due to a serious security lapse. In fact, Tihar inmates have access to everything---liquor, mobile phones, and money transactions. Conman Sukesh Chan- drasekhar is alleged to have made spoof calls to film actress Jacqueline Fernandez from inside Tihar. A couple of years ago Delhi Police were surprised to learn that gangster Jitender Gogi and his accomplice made a Rs 5 crore extortion call from Tihar. Absence of distressing symptoms does not necessarily mean good health. To take medicines for diseases which have developed is comparable to the behaviour of those persons who begin to dig a well after they are thirsty. Why do so few, give thought to health mainte- nance? Many may feel they are too busy. The average person does not have any real mission in life – some- thing very important for one who hopes to accom- plish the best according to one’sabilities.Manyignore following a routine of rest, and exercise tailored to their individual needs. Sen- sible eating habits is a rem- edy for mental health main- tenance. Being overweight, due to sedentary occupa- tion, requires eating less by controlling one’s appetite. Self control at the table – how can one accomplish it? It pays to do so. Some make it a rule not to take more than one helping if they have a variety in a meal, or cut down on rich desserts replacing it with a fruit. Eating slowly and at times skipping a meal pre- vents overeating. Others, limit themselves to fruits as one meal a day for health maintenance. Over refined and highly processed foods lower iron levels in the body and increase acid for- mation. Vegetables and ap- ples have an alkalizing ef- fect and also aid in keeping good physical as well as mental health. Regular exercise has a remedial value for those suffering from diverse ill- nesses and promotes well- being in a person who is healthy. Working at a steady pace and not going full speed is beneficial. Musicians learn to relax if they have to perform at their best without undue fatigue. The same princi- ple applies for work that require alertness. Relaxa- tion provides physical ease and is conducive to mental and emotional balance. Scheduling too much in a day and being active every waking moment, from the time one gets up until one goes to bed, weakens health. Taking regular breaks calms the mind. Sleeplessness may be caused by not eating right, neglecting workouts or excessive anxiety, feel- ings of guilt or any detri- mental emotions. Slowing down in the evening helps the body and mind to relax. Some become frustrated as they try to manage their daily responsibilities. The urge to become angry and blow off steam can be over- powering. People generally learn to express anger by copying the angry behav- iour they see around them. Anger is, also, triggered when one feels slighted. An imagined threat to one’s au- thority or reputation stirs up feelings of provocation. Self-centered persons easi- ly get affronted and may hold on to anger for days, weeks, months or longer. Many believe that if negative emotions are bot- tled up or repressed, they would later resurface as a psychological disorder. But the best way to avoid saying or doing something that one may later regret, is not to get ‘heated up.’Peo- ple with very high expecta- tions tend to have greater problems with anger. When something does not measure up to them, disap- pointment quickly follows. To combat this mentality, it is good to keep in mind that sooner or later each one will make errors. ‘Money sickness syn- drome,’ is a term used for people who are stressed with money worries. They experience symptoms like skin rashes, anger and nervousness. Budgeting money gives an internal locus of control and reduc- es stress and strain. Show- ing empathy also improves health, well-being and re- lationships when one re- lieves the suffering of oth- ers. One feels happier, more optimistic, less lone- ly and less inclined to give in, to negative thoughts. Empathy is the ability to share someone else’s feel- ings or experiences by im- agining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation. Seemanchal Das, former Private Secretary to Arun Jaitley, hails from Odisha and is a 1988 batch IRS. He was appointed Advisor to the Executive Director of the IMF in 2020 for three years. he BJP is now working on a new strat- egy to counter the latest announce- ment by the united opposition. Its view was seen in the NDA dinner, when PM Modi called for 'equal participation and equal responsibility' from the 38 constituents of the NDA. Prime Minister Modi had dinner with NDA leaders. Leaders like Eknath Shinde, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Neiphiu Rio of Nagaland and Palani Swamy of Tamil Nadu were sitting at the din- ner table with the PM. Other top leaders of the government had dinner with Jana Sena leader and big hero of Telugu films Pawan Kalyan and other lead- ers. It is another matter that more than half of the parties involved in increasing the count in NDA do not have a single won seat, but these parties have the ability to influence the vote count. On the other hand, it is also true that BJP alone is enough in front of the new opposition alliance. Apart from this, the BJP leaders have also made a strategy that 'all the parties included in NDA will be divided into groups of 10-10 and senior ministers will be made in-charge and co-incharge of one such group, who will ensure coordination with these parties. Whenever the top leadership has to meet these constituents, they will meet them as a group, that is, the NDA has geared up to give an equal answer to the opposition. SP supremo Mayawati may have kept an equal distance from both the NDA and INDIA alliances, yet she is busy preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from within. Sources reveal that after the Bengaluru meeting of the united opposition, Mayawati had a long chat with two of her close confidants, Satish Chandra Mishra and Uma Shankar Singh in which ‘Behenji’ specifically expressed concern about the recent mayoral elections in UP. Maya believed that ‘her two core vote bank Dalits and Muslims are also shifting from BSP’. She also feels that ‘in recent times the trend of Muslim and Dalit voters has in- creased towards Congress’. It is said that Mayawati has authorized Satish Chandra Mishra to ‘talk directly to the top leadership of Congress and find out if there can be a direct alliance between Congress and BSP in UP? If yes, then what will be the mathematics of seat coordination? By Tridib Raman The author is a journalist and political commentator and views expressed are his personal FIRST INDIA SUNDAY SPECIAL Mirch Masala BJP KEEPING DISTANCE FROM CHANDRABABU NAIDU? n response to ‘INDIA’, the NDA meeting convened in Delhi was attended by 38 parties, but TDP ie Telugu Desam Party’s absence from that meeting was surprising, while prior to the meeting TDP re-joining NDA was almost certain. TDP chief Chan- drababu Naidu was also singing praises of PM Modi for the past several months and he had also held meetings with Amit Shah and JP Nadda in Delhi. So, it was believed that Chandrababu Naidu would again join the NDA in the coming days. But all Naidu’s hopes were dashed when the BJP sidelined him. There is a big reason behind this. BJP has recently conducted a comprehensive opinion poll in Andhra and Telangana and it is said that after the results of this survey, the saffron party has become more alert. The results of this survey revealed that the base of Naidu’s Telugu Desam has slipped in both the states of Andhra and Telangana. In such a situation, BJP did not want to upset Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra and KCR in Tel- angana for Naidu. While Jagan’s support in the Rajya Sabha was the BJP’s rallying cry, KCR has been roped in by the BJP to breach the opposition’s citadel in Maha- rashtra, which has a large Telugu-speak- ing population in the Vidarbha region. So, bringing a 360-degree change in its strategy, the BJP declared Chandrababu’s staunch opponent in Andhra and his sister-in-law, NT Rama Rao’s daughter D. Purandeshwari as the state president of the Andhra BJP. And in Telangana, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy was appointed as the state president of Telangana by removing Bandi Sanjay who is considered a staunch supporter of Chandrababu and a staunch opponent of KCR. B S T I WHY IS NITISH UNHAPPY? hy has Nitish Kumar, who emerged as the biggest leader of the opposition unit, suddenly disappeared from the opposition platform these days? Earlier it was discussed that he is not happy with this alliance being named as ‘INDIA’, but Nitish put a brake on all these speculations by giving a statement on his own behalf. In fact, when Nitish reached Bengaluru to participate in the Mahakumbh of the opposition party, he thought that his entry in this film would be like a hero, but Mamata sabotaged his plans. Mamata has openly said that ‘Rahul Gandhi is her favorite leader’. This shows that the main opposition parties are also looking at the 2024 general elections as a battle of ‘Modi vs Rahul’. Rahul Gandhi has also appeared in a different avatar these days. Congress is also riding on the waves of excessive enthusiasm. In Bihar where Lalu and Nitish together are proposing six seats for Congress under coalition dharma in 2024 elections, Rahul is demanding half of the state’s seats i.e. 20 Lok Sabha seats for Congress, more or less the same is the case with UP. LIGHTEN UP YOUR BASE During the monsoon season, it's advisable to go for a lightweight and breathable foundation. Heavy foun- dations can feel suffocat- ing on the skin and are more likely to melt off in humid conditions. Instead, choose a lightweight, water- based foundation or a tinted moisturiz- er to even out your skin tone while allowing your skin to breathe. OPT FOR CREAM-BASED PRODUCTS Incorporating cream-based products into your monsoon makeup routine can be a game- changer. Cream blushes and eye- shadows tend to blend seam- lessly into the skin, providing a natural and dewy finish. They also have better staying power compared to powder products, making them perfect for the monsoon season. SET YOUR MAKEUP To ensure your makeup lasts all day, don't forget to set it with a waterproof setting spray or translucent powder. Setting sprays help to lock your makeup in place, preventing it from smudging or melting off. Trans- lucent powder, on the other hand, helps to control shine and absorb excess oil, leaving your skin looking fresh and matte. FOCUS ON EYE MAKEUP Since the monsoon season often comes with unpredictable rain showers, it's important to pay ex- tra attention to your eye makeup. Opt for a waterproof eyeliner and mascara to prevent smudging and panda eyes.Additionally, choose long-wearing eyeshadows and avoid heavy, dark smokey eye looks that are prone to creasing. KEEP YOUR LIPS HYDRATED Moisturized lips are a must-have during the monsoon season. Keep your lips hydrated by applying a lip balm or a hydrating lipstick. Optforbrighterandvibrantshades to add a pop of color to your over- all look. Avoid matte lipsticks, as they tend to accentuate dryness and may not last as long. With these monsoon makeup and beau- ty care tips, you can confident- ly step out during the rainy season without worrying about your makeup melting away. Re- member to prep your skin, choose waterproof for- mulas, and focus on lightweight and cream- based products. Don't forget to set your makeup and pay attention to your eye makeup and lip care.
