of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The first explosion
was 2,300 feet (700 meters) from Soleimani’s grave,
and the second was 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) away as
pilgrims visited the site.
Two explosions rocked Iranian city of Kerman during a

NARENDRA MODI, PRIME MINISTER
fter defeating and killing
Lankapati Ravana on the
tenth day of Shukla Pak-
sha in the month of Ash-
win, Shri Ram returned
to his state, Kaushal, on
the day of Kartik Ama-
vasya. His exile in Treta
Yuga is considered to have lasted for
14 years, but in Kali Yuga, the devo-
tees of Ram had to struggle for 500
years to take Ram Lalla to his birthplace.
Ayodhya has been witness to sev-
eral stages in these 500 years. The
mosque was built after demolishing
the temple then the mosque was bro-
ken, then rebuilt, then broken again.
Amid these churnings, for the first
time, violence took place in Ayodhya
over the temple 167 years ago and the
first FIR regarding the disputed site was
filed 166 years ago on November 30,
1858, while the matter reached the court
139 years ago in 1885. The Supreme
Court’s decision on the reinstallation of
Lord Rama’s idol came on November
9, 2019. The figures recorded in this
decisiontellmanystoriesinthemselves.
The story of a long legal battle, the big-
gest story of the biggest controversy, the
story of faith and belief, the story of
struggle, the story of coincidences and
the story of the victory of justice. We try
to make you aware of all these stories
through statistics.
First legal document of 1858
According to the book ‘Ayodhya Revis-
ited’, by Kunal Kishore, on December
1, 1858, Awadh Police Station Officer
Sheetal Dubey stated in his report that
a platform had been built in the Temple
complex. This is the first legal docu-
ment which has evidence of the pres-
ence of a Ram icon inside the complex.
In 1526, Babar came to India to fight
the war against Ibrahim Lodi. Two
years later, in 1528, Babar’s Subedar
Mirbaki demolished the grand Ram
temple built at the Ram Janmabhoomi
in Ayodhya and built a mosque. It was
named Babri Masjid in honor of Babar.
According to Baburnama, during his
visit to Ayodhya in 1528, Babar or-
dered the construction of the mosque.
After 330 years, in 1858, the contro-
versy regarding this mosque started
whenanFIRwasfiledtoperformhavan
and puja on the disputed premises.
The case reached the court in 1885,
27 years after the incident of 1858,
when Mahant Raghubar Das filed a pe-
tition in Faizabad District Court to
build a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi,
however, the court rejected his petition.
The decision was appealed in 1886 but
the petition was rejected again.
76 wars fought to build temple
A study of historical documents states
that 76 wars took place from 1528 to
1949 to construct the temple at Shri
Ram’s birthplace in Ayodhya. The last
bloody conflict occurred in 1934 when
the Hindus damaged the forcefully built
structure. After this incident, the then-
British government imposed a financial
penalty. That conflict had an impact on
both communities. On one hand, Hin-
dus calmed down, on the other hand,
Muslims stopped offering Namaz there.
Ram Lalla’s statue was installed
under the Central Dome in 1949
In the year 1949, on December 22-23,
the statue of Ram Lalla was installed
under the Central Dome at the disputed
site after which an FIR was lodged in
the matter on December 23. Subse-
quently, the gate of the complex was
locked. The Municipal Corporation
Chairman was made the receiver of the
disputed area and on January 5, Mu-
nicipal Corporation President Priya
Dutt Ram became its receiver.
In 1950, the matter once again
reached the court and by 2019 this le-
gal battle reached its conclusion.
In 1949, the then District Magistrate
of Faizabad, KK Nair locked the struc-
ture to maintain law and order but al-
lowed a priest to go inside the structure
twice a day and perform daily puja and
other rituals. To get this lock opened,
Hindu society started filing petitions in
the court after 1950. Then Muslims
also filed a petition in 1962.

The National Investiga-

Wednesday conducted
searches at 31 places in
Rajasthan and Haryana
in connection with the
murder of Sukhdev Sin-

are still underway at the
locations of suspects
linked to the case which
the Central agency regis-

Multiple NIA teams
carried out these searches
in close coordination
with the state Police forc-

after the NIA takes over
the case from Rajasthan
Police considering the
involvement of high-pro-
file gangsters in murder.
During the raid, NIA
arrested a prime suspect,
Ashok Kumar Meghwal,
resident of Jherli village
from his house in Jhunj-
hunu. 8 weapons have
been seized from the ac-
cused. The interrogation
of the accused revealed
his suspicious role in the
case and also revealed his
connection with gangster
Rohit Godara, who had
allegedly inspired the
two shooters to kill Sri
Rashtriya Rajput Karni
Sena president Gogame-
di. Including this arrest, a
total of 9 accused have
been arrested so far.
The Karni Sena chief
was shot dead on Dec 5
at his residence in Jaipur
by three shooters. Soon
after the murder, gang-
ster Rohit Godara, asso-
ciated with the Lawrence
gang, claimed responsi-
bility for Gogamedi’s
murder. The two shoot-
ers, Rohit Rathore and
Nitin Fauji, were arrested
on Dec 9 in Chandigarh.
They informed the police
that it was Godara who
had ordered murder. The
primary investigation
also found that shooters,
while absconding, were
in contact with Godara’s
close aides Virendra

Jaipur: Jawahar Circle police sta-

cessfully disrupted a door-to-door
alcohol-selling gang in Jaipur. The opera-
tion led to the arrest of a key member, with
two bags containing a substantial amount
of liquor seized. The illicit network, involv-
ing over 25 young individuals, operated
throughout the night, delivering alcohol
directly to residents’ doors via bikes. One
member held was carrying a large bag,
ususally used by the “food supply boy.”
Two mobile phones confiscated during
the operation revealed the intricate details
of the entire liquor supply chain. Authori-
ties are actively pursuing the gang leader,
believed to be the mastermind behind the
operation. This enforcement action high-
lights Jaipur police’s commitment to curb-

faces charges, and ongoing investigations
aim to dismantle the entire network.

Jaishankar slams Nehru’s China policy again

hankar on
Wednesday once again
invoked Pandit Jawahar-
lal Nehru, saying there
would have been a ‘less
rosy’ view of India’s re-
lationship with China if
the country would have
been more ‘Bharat’.
“Regarding the three
countries Pakistan, China
and US which were actu-
ally three debated rela-
tionships in our early
years...If we had been
more ‘Bharat’, we would
have had a less rosy view
of our relationship with
China. This is not my
fantasy. There is a kind of
record in form of an ex-
change of letters between
Sardar Patel and Pandit
Nehru on China and they
had a starkly differing
views about it,” Jais-
hankar said during the
launch of his latest book
‘Why Bharat Matters’.
“Ifwelookatthewhole

which today someone is
saying. There is a letter
written by Nehru to Chief
Ministers saying ‘First let
China take its plays in the
security council’ even
when the 1962 conflict
warwastakingplace,”the
minister said.
Jaishankar said Nehru
had written to then US
president John F Kenne-
dy asking for help during
war with China.
“Nehru actually wrote
to Kennedy saying look I
need your help but am
hesitating as how it would
be looked. What happens
is in a sense there is a cer-
tain, I would say, a kind
of left-wing ideology
which was strong in that
period which...in China
and similarly there is very
ingrained hostility to-
wards the US,” he added.
On Tuesday, Jais-
hankar had hit out at In-

criticising his ‘romanti-

‘MODI HAI TO MUMKIN HAI…’ UNTOLD STORIES OF PM MODI — PART 67
PMMODI'S
LEADERSHIP
ALCHEMY!
The narrators vividly recount their experiences with
PM Modi, detailing his essential leadership lessons,
valuable insights for campaign efficiency, emphasis
on discipline and austerity, and a myriad of other
impactful suggestions to enhance productivity
Leadership lessons by PM
Modi for a young mayor
his incident belongs to 2009.
Narendra Modi had come to
Bhavnagar. As is the usual
practice, I went to receive him at the
airport. He got down from the air-
craft and in his typical style, with
folded hands, he said, namaste young
mayor. We used to go and meet him
subsequently on various official er-
rands and here he gave me two im-
portant basic lessons of leadership
for efficient working. He said, now
that you have become a mayor, re-
member to learn these two things.
First, he said, eat wherever you get
food. Don’t hesitate or have airs.
Second, he said, sleep wherever you
have the space. As a public servant,
where you have to travel extensively
to serve people, you may hardly get
a chance to have a daily sleep routine
every night. So, sleep even while
travelling, in your car. You will nev-
er get fixed timings. I still remember
and follow these two very funda-
mental lessons of public life, which
have always come in good stead for
my personal well-being and my ad-
ministrative efficiency as well.

VERY DEEP LOVER OF
MUSIC SPIRITUALISM
y name was first proposed by
the Prime Minister in 2015 for
the Swachh Bharat initiative at
Banaras Ghats. I was selected because
we were involved in bringing the types
of spiritual music we worked with to
the mainstream music scene. That was
the first time I sensed an opportunity
to come close to the PM in some way.
Later on, when we had completed the
target of 100 crore COVID vaccina-
tions, we were doing a video song under
the health ministry, enumerating our
achievement. For this, we needed some
footage and photos of the PM as we
wantedtoshowhimandhisroleinmak-
ing the mega-vaccination initiative such
a success. Then, when we reached him,
he asked the reason for requisitioning
such photos and clips of his. As I ex-
plained the reason, he not only gave his
permission but also gave some invalu-
able inputs and suggestions to make the
campaign more productive. During the
interaction, what impressed me was his
deep involvement in and understanding
of music and spiritualism.Additionally,
I also realised that he also had great re-
spect for artists. This is perhaps the first
time that we have so many artists from
various fields sitting in our parliament.
When Adiyogi was unveiled at Co-
imbatore, I was called by Jaggi Vas-
udev on Maha Shivratri to perform and
I found PM Modi was sitting silently,
lost in meditative spirit. He was so rapt
in deep concentration, soaking in the
spirit of the atmosphere and the holy
occasion that it was a sight to behold.
Soon after the programme I went and
met him and it was such a pleasurable
experience talking to him.
I met him once again in Jakarta. he
jocularly asked me, kar dia manch tay-
yar? (so you have set the stage for the
show!) I was overwhelmed and
laughed out saying it is you sir, who
has set the stage ready. Wherever you
go, your name is enough. Not only do
you hold the stage like a star but you
fill whole stadiums with your aura and
your name reverberates everywhere.

NARENDRA MODI’S DISCIPLINE
SIMPLICITY EVIDENT EARLY ON
arendra Modi’s disci-
pline and austerity
were visible from the
early days. He had newly be-
come the national general sec-
retary of the BJP. There was an
event of national office bearers’
meeting to be held at Mus-
soorie. Many senior leaders
were supposed to attend the
important meeting. Modi ji
said, no special arrangements
were to be made for their trans-
portation. All leaders, big and
small, would travel to Mus-
soorie from Dehradun railway
station by bus. He stuck to his
decision and despite requests
by state functionaries to rethink
the move, Modi ji remained
adamant and said, those who
are willing to come are wel-
come, those who are not, can
happily abstain. Make the best
buses available to them, but
only buses will be available for
all and all must abide by the
decision for collective good.
No luxury travel for anyone
was provisioned. Such was his
discipline and unwavering
commitment. He had a convic-
tion behind his actions and that
was his guiding force.
After becoming the general
secretary, once he visited Su-
rat. A grand programme was
organised to welcome him as
people were enthusiastic to
meet him. A big decorated
chair was kept on the stage for
him, like a throne. But to eve-
ryone’s surprise, when Modi ji
was being seated on the chair,
he protested. He said he was an
ordinary worker and must be
given an ordinary chair that
befits him and accordingly he
sat on a normal chair, ditching
the special place he was ac-
corded. Such simplicity and
austerity struck us deeply.
In yet another incident, once
some party workers reached
late in the night for an event
that was going to be held at a
village in Gujarat. They were
not being allowed entry to the
night shelter where arrange-
ments had been made for their
stay. The information reached
Modi ji. He woke up around 1
at night and asked the in-
charge to allow entry to the
men and ensured they were
settled for the night.Anational
general secretary of the party,
waking up at midnight to as-
suage the problem of a village
worker, is something unique
we have seen and speaks vol-
umes of Modi ji’s discipline,
sincerity, and simplicity.

Fur garments have
historically served as a
status symbol. City First
brings to you the fur
fashion market which
has recently undergone
noteworthy
transformations.
n the realm of
fashion, few
items exude the
same level of
timeless ele-
gance and luxury as fur coats.
With a history dating back
centuries, fur garments have
evolved from essential protec-
tion against the elements to
iconic symbols of opulence
and style. Today, fur coats
continue to captivate fashion
enthusiasts, blending tradition
with contemporary allure.
Fur has been a part of hu-
man attire for centuries, ini-
tially serving as a practical
solution to endure harsh cli-
mates. Over time, fur evolved
into a status symbol, adorning
the robes of royalty and the
elite. Today’s fur coats are a
nod to this rich history, carry-
ing the legacy of craftsman-
ship and artistry that defines
the fur industry.
Behind the allure of fur
coats lies a meticulous pro-
cess of craftsmanship. From
selecting the finest pelts to
expertly stitching each piece
together, creating a fur coat is
an art form.
The hands of skilled arti-
sans transform raw fur into a
luxurious garment, ensuring
both warmth and visual ap-
peal.
While the fur industry has
faced scrutiny over ethical
concerns, many contemporary
designers and furriers prior-
itize sustainability and ethical
practices. From utilizing ethi-
cally sourced fur to repurpos-
ing vintage pieces, the mod-
ern fur industry strives to
align with evolving ethical
standards.
Fur coats are not confined
to a singular style. Whether
it’s the classic mink, the bohe-
mian allure of fox fur, or the
avant-garde appeal of chin-
chilla, fur coats come in a di-
verse range of styles, catering
to individual preferences and
fashion sensibilities.
From Hollywood starlets to
fashion icons, fur coats have
graced the shoulders of some
of the most influential figures
throughout history. Their
presence on the red carpet and
in high fashion editorials so-
lidifies fur as a symbol of
glamour and sophistication.
Fur coats transcend mere
garments; they are embodi-
ments of history, craftsman-
ship, and enduring glamour.
While the conversation
around ethical sourcing con-
tinues, the allure of fur coats
endures, offering a captivat-
ing blend of tradition and con-
temporary style for those who
appreciate the artistry behind
this fashion statement.

n an unex-
pected devel-
opment, Iran,
the neigh-
bouringcoun-
try that shares
borders with Pakistan, has
chosentogranttheprivilegeof
visa-free entry exclusively to
Indian citizens, with the goal
of boosting tourism. Interest-
ingly, while Indians enjoy this
privilege, Pakistanis find
themselves in queues, await-
ing visa approvals. This nota-
ble discrepancy not only dis-
tinguishes the strength of our
passportbutalsohighlightsthe
intricate dynamics of diplo-
matic relations in the region.
Interestingly, prior to Iran's
move, countries like Malay-
sia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and
Vietnam had already adopted
a visa-free entry policy for
Indian citizens. Iran now be-
comes the fifth country to do
so. Looking ahead, there is
speculation that through mu-
tually agreed-upon terms, In-
dia may secure visa-free en-
try into Russia as well. Given
Russia's strained relations
with Western countries, the
nation appears keen on lever-
aging tourism as a means to
bolster its economy by wel-
coming Indian travellers.
This proactive step may pave
the way for more countries to
extend visa-free privileges to
India, marking a significant
diplomatic achievement.
WHY NOT PAKISTAN?
The absence of this advantage
for Pakistanis can be attrib-
uted to a lack of trust by other
countries in extending visa-
free entry to Pakistani citi-
zens. Despite being neigh-
bours with shared borders,
other nations remain skeptical
about Pakistan's governance.
According to the Henley
Passport Index ranking, Paki-
stan finds itself among the
bottom five countries global-
ly, holding the 102nd position
out of 105 countries. Surpris-
ingly, even countries like
Libya, North Korea, Somalia,
the Palestinian Territory, and
Yemen are better in the rank-
ing compared to Pakistan.
This disparity in passport
strength reflects the challeng-
es Pakistan faces in gaining
the trust and confidence of the
international community for
visa-free entry privileges.
WHY IRAN'S MOVE
MATTERS?
Iran's bold move to open its
doors to Indian citizens,
while Pakistani nationals
face visa hurdles, under-
scores the shifting landscape
of diplomatic ties in the re-
gion. This exclusive privi-
lege for Indians not only re-
flects the strength of the In-
dian passport but also
prompts speculation about
future diplomatic maneuvers
and potential alliances.
BOOST TO TOURISM
The elimination of visa fees
for Indian travellers to Iran
is likely to lead to an in-
crease in tourism. In-
dian tourists, attract-
ed by Iran's rich
cultural heritage
and historical
sites, may contrib-
ute to the growth
of the Iranian
tourism industry.
STRENGTHENED
ECONOMIC TIES
Free visas can fa-
cilitate easier travel
for Indian business
professionals and inves-
tors, fostering economic
collaboration between the
two nations. This move is par-
ticularly significant amid evolv-
ing global economic dynamics.
ENHANCED PEOPLE-TO-
PEOPLE CONTACT
The free visa initiative promotes
greater people-to-people contact,
fostering cultural exchanges and
understandingbetweenIndiaand
Iran. This can play a crucial role
in strengthening the long-stand-
ing historical and cultural ties
between the two nations.
As India continues to expand
its global reach, such initiatives
contribute to the cultivation of
strong international ties. The
evolution of India's visa status
on a global scale reflects the na-
tion's increasing influence.
Overall, this move is a testa-
ment to the power of diplomat-
ic efforts in fostering coopera-
tion and understanding between
nations.

riting these
poems was
an out-
come of
Covid’s in-
activity. Just like all other
writers, this was a period
of reflection for me as
well. It was also a period
of doing things that we
do not usually do. This
was stated by Author,
Malashri Lal during the
launch of her book -
‘Mandalas of Time’ at
Ashok Club, Jaipur. She
was in conversation with
author and publicist,
Jagdeep Singh.
Malashri Lal, who has
authored 17 books so far,
launched her first-ever
poetry collection - ‘Man-
dalas of Time’. Talking
about the title of the
book, she said that ‘Man-
dalas’ do not just hold
religious symbolism for
me, but are also ‘sparks
of energy’. There are dis-
crete moments of time
that this collection cap-
tures but it is a complete
circle of me and what I
experience, she said.
During the session, she
recited some of the po-
ems from the book - ‘The
Woman Migrant Work-
er’, ‘Bougainvillea’,
‘Manthara Dasi’, ‘Rad-
ha’s Dilemma’, and ‘Hi-
biscus and the Old
Champa’.
Talking about the ‘po-
etic license’, she said that
one should be sensitive to
the ideas of other people.
Poetic license works
when you are playing
around ideas and imagi-
nation. A lot of poetry is
happening around imag-
ined worlds these days.
The book launch con-
cluded with a QA ses-
sion and book signing.
Earlier, the book was re-
leased by Malashri Lal,
Sudhir Mathur,Ajay Sin-
gha and Jagdeep Singh.

NARENDRA MODI, PRIME MINISTER fter defeating and killing Lankapati Ravana on the tenth day of Shukla Pak- sha in the month of Ash- win, Shri Ram returned to his state, Kaushal, on the day of Kartik Ama- vasya. His exile in Treta Yuga is considered to have lasted for 14 years, but in Kali Yuga, the devo- tees of Ram had to struggle for 500 years to take Ram Lalla to his birthplace. Ayodhya has been witness to sev- eral stages in these 500 years. The mosque was built after demolishing the temple then the mosque was bro- ken, then rebuilt, then broken again. Amid these churnings, for the first time, violence took place in Ayodhya over the temple 167 years ago and the first FIR regarding the disputed site was filed 166 years ago on November 30, 1858, while the matter reached the court 139 years ago in 1885. The Supreme Court’s decision on the reinstallation of Lord Rama’s idol came on November 9, 2019. The figures recorded in this decisiontellmanystoriesinthemselves. The story of a long legal battle, the big- gest story of the biggest controversy, the story of faith and belief, the story of struggle, the story of coincidences and the story of the victory of justice. We try to make you aware of all these stories through statistics. First legal document of 1858 According to the book ‘Ayodhya Revis- ited’, by Kunal Kishore, on December 1, 1858, Awadh Police Station Officer Sheetal Dubey stated in his report that a platform had been built in the Temple complex. This is the first legal docu- ment which has evidence of the pres- ence of a Ram icon inside the complex. In 1526, Babar came to India to fight the war against Ibrahim Lodi. Two years later, in 1528, Babar’s Subedar Mirbaki demolished the grand Ram temple built at the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and built a mosque. It was named Babri Masjid in honor of Babar. According to Baburnama, during his visit to Ayodhya in 1528, Babar or- dered the construction of the mosque. After 330 years, in 1858, the contro- versy regarding this mosque started whenanFIRwasfiledtoperformhavan and puja on the disputed premises. The case reached the court in 1885, 27 years after the incident of 1858, when Mahant Raghubar Das filed a pe- tition in Faizabad District Court to build a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi, however, the court rejected his petition. The decision was appealed in 1886 but the petition was rejected again. 76 wars fought to build temple A study of historical documents states that 76 wars took place from 1528 to 1949 to construct the temple at Shri Ram’s birthplace in Ayodhya. The last bloody conflict occurred in 1934 when the Hindus damaged the forcefully built structure. After this incident, the then- British government imposed a financial penalty. That conflict had an impact on both communities. On one hand, Hin- dus calmed down, on the other hand, Muslims stopped offering Namaz there. Ram Lalla’s statue was installed under the Central Dome in 1949 In the year 1949, on December 22-23, the statue of Ram Lalla was installed under the Central Dome at the disputed site after which an FIR was lodged in the matter on December 23. Subse- quently, the gate of the complex was locked. The Municipal Corporation Chairman was made the receiver of the disputed area and on January 5, Mu- nicipal Corporation President Priya Dutt Ram became its receiver. In 1950, the matter once again reached the court and by 2019 this le- gal battle reached its conclusion. In 1949, the then District Magistrate of Faizabad, KK Nair locked the struc- ture to maintain law and order but al- lowed a priest to go inside the structure twice a day and perform daily puja and other rituals. To get this lock opened, Hindu society started filing petitions in the court after 1950. Then Muslims also filed a petition in 1962. 500 sagaofanepic homecoming... -YEAR-OLD In Treta Yug, Shri Ram was exiled for 14 years from Ayodhya but in Kali Yuga, it took almost 500 years of struggle by Ram Bhakts to bring Ram Lalla to his birthplace in Ayodhya. The narrators vividly recount their experiences with PM Modi, detailing his essential leadership lessons, valuable insights for campaign efficiency, emphasis on discipline and austerity, and a myriad of other impactful suggestions to enhance productivity Leadership lessons by PM Modi for a young mayor his incident belongs to 2009. Narendra Modi had come to Bhavnagar. As is the usual practice, I went to receive him at the airport. He got down from the air- craft and in his typical style, with folded hands, he said, namaste young mayor. We used to go and meet him subsequently on various official er- rands and here he gave me two im- portant basic lessons of leadership for efficient working. He said, now that you have become a mayor, re- member to learn these two things. First, he said, eat wherever you get food. Don’t hesitate or have airs. Second, he said, sleep wherever you have the space. As a public servant, where you have to travel extensively to serve people, you may hardly get a chance to have a daily sleep routine every night. So, sleep even while travelling, in your car. You will nev- er get fixed timings. I still remember and follow these two very funda- mental lessons of public life, which have always come in good stead for my personal well-being and my ad- ministrative efficiency as well. T Rina Shah Former Mayor, Gujarat VERY DEEP LOVER OF MUSIC SPIRITUALISM y name was first proposed by the Prime Minister in 2015 for the Swachh Bharat initiative at Banaras Ghats. I was selected because we were involved in bringing the types of spiritual music we worked with to the mainstream music scene. That was the first time I sensed an opportunity to come close to the PM in some way. Later on, when we had completed the target of 100 crore COVID vaccina- tions, we were doing a video song under the health ministry, enumerating our achievement. For this, we needed some footage and photos of the PM as we wantedtoshowhimandhisroleinmak- ing the mega-vaccination initiative such a success. Then, when we reached him, he asked the reason for requisitioning such photos and clips of his. As I ex- plained the reason, he not only gave his permission but also gave some invalu- able inputs and suggestions to make the campaign more productive. During the interaction, what impressed me was his deep involvement in and understanding of music and spiritualism.Additionally, I also realised that he also had great re- spect for artists. This is perhaps the first time that we have so many artists from various fields sitting in our parliament. When Adiyogi was unveiled at Co- imbatore, I was called by Jaggi Vas- udev on Maha Shivratri to perform and I found PM Modi was sitting silently, lost in meditative spirit. He was so rapt in deep concentration, soaking in the spirit of the atmosphere and the holy occasion that it was a sight to behold. Soon after the programme I went and met him and it was such a pleasurable experience talking to him. I met him once again in Jakarta. he jocularly asked me, kar dia manch tay- yar? (so you have set the stage for the show!) I was overwhelmed and laughed out saying it is you sir, who has set the stage ready. Wherever you go, your name is enough. Not only do you hold the stage like a star but you fill whole stadiums with your aura and your name reverberates everywhere. M Kailash Kher, Singer COMPILED AND EDITED BY SHASHIKANT SHARMA NARENDRA MODI’S DISCIPLINE SIMPLICITY EVIDENT EARLY ON arendra Modi’s disci- pline and austerity were visible from the early days. He had newly be- come the national general sec- retary of the BJP. There was an event of national office bearers’ meeting to be held at Mus- soorie. Many senior leaders were supposed to attend the important meeting. Modi ji said, no special arrangements were to be made for their trans- portation. All leaders, big and small, would travel to Mus- soorie from Dehradun railway station by bus. He stuck to his decision and despite requests by state functionaries to rethink the move, Modi ji remained adamant and said, those who are willing to come are wel- come, those who are not, can happily abstain. Make the best buses available to them, but only buses will be available for all and all must abide by the decision for collective good. No luxury travel for anyone was provisioned. Such was his discipline and unwavering commitment. He had a convic- tion behind his actions and that was his guiding force. After becoming the general secretary, once he visited Su- rat. A grand programme was organised to welcome him as people were enthusiastic to meet him. A big decorated chair was kept on the stage for him, like a throne. But to eve- ryone’s surprise, when Modi ji was being seated on the chair, he protested. He said he was an ordinary worker and must be given an ordinary chair that befits him and accordingly he sat on a normal chair, ditching the special place he was ac- corded. Such simplicity and austerity struck us deeply. In yet another incident, once some party workers reached late in the night for an event that was going to be held at a village in Gujarat. They were not being allowed entry to the night shelter where arrange- ments had been made for their stay. The information reached Modi ji. He woke up around 1 at night and asked the in- charge to allow entry to the men and ensured they were settled for the night.Anational general secretary of the party, waking up at midnight to as- suage the problem of a village worker, is something unique we have seen and speaks vol- umes of Modi ji’s discipline, sincerity, and simplicity. City First brings to you the fur fashion market which has recently undergone noteworthy transformations. n the realm of fashion, few items exude the same level of timeless ele- gance and luxury as fur coats. With a history dating back centuries, fur garments have evolved from essential protec- tion against the elements to iconic symbols of opulence and style. Today, fur coats continue to captivate fashion enthusiasts, blending tradition with contemporary allure. Fur has been a part of hu- man attire for centuries, ini- tially serving as a practical solution to endure harsh cli- mates. Over time, fur evolved into a status symbol, adorning the robes of royalty and the elite. Today’s fur coats are a nod to this rich history, carry- ing the legacy of craftsman- ship and artistry that defines the fur industry. Behind the allure of fur coats lies a meticulous pro- cess of craftsmanship. From selecting the finest pelts to expertly stitching each piece together, creating a fur coat is an art form. The hands of skilled arti- sans transform raw fur into a luxurious garment, ensuring both warmth and visual ap- peal. While the fur industry has faced scrutiny over ethical concerns, many contemporary designers and furriers prior- itize sustainability and ethical practices. From utilizing ethi- cally sourced fur to repurpos- ing vintage pieces, the mod- ern fur industry strives to align with evolving ethical standards. Fur coats are not confined to a singular style. Whether it’s the classic mink, the bohe- mian allure of fox fur, or the avant-garde appeal of chin- chilla, fur coats come in a di- verse range of styles, catering to individual preferences and fashion sensibilities. From Hollywood starlets to fashion icons, fur coats have graced the shoulders of some of the most influential figures throughout history. Their presence on the red carpet and in high fashion editorials so- lidifies fur as a symbol of glamour and sophistication. Fur coats transcend mere garments; they are embodi- ments of history, craftsman- ship, and enduring glamour. While the conversation around ethical sourcing con- tinues, the allure of fur coats endures, offering a captivat- ing blend of tradition and con- temporary style for those who appreciate the artistry behind this fashion statement. Interest- ingly, while Indians enjoy this privilege, Pakistanis find themselves in queues, await- ing visa approvals. This nota- ble discrepancy not only dis- tinguishes the strength of our passportbutalsohighlightsthe intricate dynamics of diplo- matic relations in the region. Interestingly, prior to Iran's move, countries like Malay- sia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam had already adopted a visa-free entry policy for Indian citizens. Iran now be- comes the fifth country to do so. Looking ahead, there is speculation that through mu- tually agreed-upon terms, In- dia may secure visa-free en- try into Russia as well. Given Russia's strained relations with Western countries, the nation appears keen on lever- aging tourism as a means to bolster its economy by wel- coming Indian travellers. This proactive step may pave the way for more countries to extend visa-free privileges to India, marking a significant diplomatic achievement. WHY NOT PAKISTAN? The absence of this advantage for Pakistanis can be attrib- uted to a lack of trust by other countries in extending visa- free entry to Pakistani citi- zens. Despite being neigh- bours with shared borders, other nations remain skeptical about Pakistan's governance. According to the Henley Passport Index ranking, Paki- stan finds itself among the bottom five countries global- ly, holding the 102nd position out of 105 countries. Surpris- ingly, even countries like Libya, North Korea, Somalia, the Palestinian Territory, and Yemen are better in the rank- ing compared to Pakistan. This disparity in passport strength reflects the challeng- es Pakistan faces in gaining the trust and confidence of the international community for visa-free entry privileges. WHY IRAN'S MOVE MATTERS? Iran's bold move to open its doors to Indian citizens, while Pakistani nationals face visa hurdles, under- scores the shifting landscape of diplomatic ties in the re- gion. This exclusive privi- lege for Indians not only re- flects the strength of the In- dian passport but also prompts speculation about future diplomatic maneuvers and potential alliances. BOOST TO TOURISM The elimination of visa fees for Indian travellers to Iran is likely to lead to an in- crease in tourism. In- dian tourists, attract- ed by Iran's rich cultural heritage and historical sites, may contrib- ute to the growth of the Iranian tourism industry. STRENGTHENED ECONOMIC TIES Free visas can fa- cilitate easier travel for Indian business professionals and inves- tors, fostering economic collaboration between the two nations. This move is par- ticularly significant amid evolv- ing global economic dynamics. ENHANCED PEOPLE-TO- PEOPLE CONTACT The free visa initiative promotes greater people-to-people contact, fostering cultural exchanges and understandingbetweenIndiaand Iran. This can play a crucial role in strengthening the long-stand- ing historical and cultural ties between the two nations. As India continues to expand its global reach, such initiatives contribute to the cultivation of strong international ties. The evolution of India's visa status on a global scale reflects the na- tion's increasing influence.
