Managerial Escalator Essay
Abstract
This report will be look into extent to which the Managerial Escalator, the Managerial Hybrid and
Managerial Gap (Rees and Porter, 2008) fits in the experience of two managers. This report focus on
two parts; firstly on giving the details on theories explained by Rees and Porter. Secondly this report
will analyze and discuss the results from both managers with managerial responsibilities, their process
to achieve current position, difficulties in the role of being manager, what motivate them to work and
if they got support from their mentors etc. It was found that their working styles match the concept of
managerial escalator.
1. Introduction
Nowadays managers and supervisor can be the greatest ally for change teams. As to development of
the company, the importance of managers is obvious to the company. Getting managers and
supervisors on board and taking the lead in supporting employee change is crucial. As the manager
topic is mentioned this report is going to focus on explaining the concept of Managerial Escalator
(Rees and Porter, 2008). In this report, two managers have been interviewed and discuss their
progression into management and managerial responsibilities and the extent to which their current
managerial activity fits with the concept of Managerial Escalator. Base on the terminology of the case
study, comparison and contrast of both managers with respect to their managing style will be
analyzed. At last, reasonable and information based on academic

Hotspur Metaphors
In Shakespeare s Henry IV, Part 1, Hotspur, the most talented young warrior in England, leads a
rebellion against King Henry IV while, Hal, the king s seemingly lazy, indifferent son and heir to the
throne, fights against Hotspur for the throne. Hal and Hotspur have a similar ideology as seen in their
common metaphors; however, Hal speaks with various extended metaphors, biblical allusions, and
strategically places his use of verse and prose while Hotspur speaks with simpler metaphors, war
imagery, and mainly speaks in verse. Shakespeare emphasizes these speech patterns to demonstrate
Hal s ability to manipulate the world to his benefit and Hotspur s extremely volatile sensibility, and
thus, proves Hal to be more qualified to rule than Hotspur.
Hal and Hotspur share some of the same metaphors, most notably, their common use of debt as a
metaphor for honor and responsibility, which indicates how they both see these values in a mercantile
fashion. In Hal s first soliloquy, he says he will pay the debt I never promised (I.2.77), a reference to
his plan to act like a drunken thief, so when he becomes king, he will seem like a greater leader. Hal
saying he will pay the debt , or him being an effective king, displays how he thinks that he can easily
exchange his immature behavior for honor and that being a good king can instantly buy the favor of
the people. Also, the word debt implies that Hal believes that the king has an important obligation to
be honorable to the kingdom. Hotspur also uses the metaphor, saying King Henry IV Studies day and
night / To answer all the debt he owes to you / Even with the bloody payment of your deaths (I.3.184
186). Because Hotspur s father and uncle helped King Henry take the throne, Hotspur believes that the
king has a responsibility to treat them well, which he does not fulfill. This illustrates how Hotspur also
views honor as a transaction: when given, it must be repaid. Both Hal and Hotspur believe that honor
can be exchanged like goods, and they view honor, like debt, as a responsibility that must be
maintained, indicating they understand the importance of honor in society.
Hal and Hotspur share a similar ideology, but Hal s elevated language portrays him as more

Themes In The Rape Of Lucrece
In The Rape of Lucrece, there is one theme throughout the poem, and that is to conquer. The themes of
war, violence, and the evidence of Tarquin s sexual conquest remain constant. However, this is present
specifically with the physical rape of Lucrece itself and the parading of her body around Rome after
her death. The constant air of sex and power dominates this poem. Lucrece is used as a political
symbol that must be conquered throughout the entirety of the reading. The Rape of Lucrece displays
the idea of male dominance and female silence in Tarquin s powerful rage and Lucrece s ability to be
dominated.
In the time of the Renaissance society, men often held positions of power over women. Women were
not seen as having an independent voice, as they were often seen as property of their fathers before
they were married. In The Rape of Lucrece, Tarquin is able to control Lucrece and silence her. The
physical act of raping her is able to dominate her physically and emotionally, and that is what remains
constant throughout this poem. If Lucrece has anything, it is her chastity which holds great power, and
that is stolen from her in such a grotesque way.
However, before the physical act can occur there are several obstacles that must be conquered before
Lucrece herself can be taken. This adds to the idea constant idea of war and power through conquest.
The locks between her chamber and his will, each one by him enforced, retired his ward; But as they
open they all rate his ill. Which drives the creeping thief to some regard. The threshold grates the door
to have him heard (302 306). This scene is the first obstacle that must be overcome in the attempt to
proceed with his final act. The locks to her door are squeaky as they open, threatening to reveal
Tarquin. The threshold rubs against the opening of the door, also attempting to make his presence
known. Through little vents and crannies of the place the wind wars with his torch to make him stay,
and blows the smoke of it into his face (310 312). Here, a second challenge is presented. His torch is
extinguished, which will make him unable to see in the dark night, but he moves forward, determined
to conquer each of these new obstacles.

Emotion Related Cultural Value With Regulation Strategies...
1. One of the unique features of human is the ability to regulate and adjust emotions on particular
situational demands. What happen when we get angry but cannot express it? Or when we feel upset
but have to try to be fine? Under some circumstances like these examples, we regulate our emotions.
Emotion regulation(ER) refers to the capacity to control and manage one s emotional reaction in order
to achieve a goal directed outcome. We know coping, reappraisal, or suppression as some typical
tactics of managing emotions, but how these types of regulation strategies differ among individuals,
and how cultural values can be related to the preference of use of different strategies? This study will
provide a general idea beyond the basic understanding of ER by comparing individual difference on
emotion related cultural value with regulation strategies.
This study focuses on emotion related values based on the Hofstede model of six dimensions of
national cultures (power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism/collectivism,
masculinity/femininity, long/short term orientation, and indulgence/restraint), by only focusing on
long/short term orientation and uncertainty avoidance as emotion related cultural values. Short/long
term orientation refers to the perspective of whether or not looking at the future. Short term orientated
people tend to emphasize on the current time and believe important events in life occur in the past or
now. They also tend to attribute both success and

Dr. Michael Furick
Cooper s Ice Arena Solution Claude Cooper s target segment for his public ice skating sessions seems
to be adult couples, kids (14 and younger) and teens (14 and up) I think those target segments can
increase revenue for him he may just be going about the wrong way. There s also potential to make
certain sessions more exclusive than other public sessions but Claude seems hesitant to do so. His
strategies or ideas are great in theory however the results show only poor sales. I believe his focusing
on one target group so heavily has left him sort sided as to the potential of profits each segment brings
to offering public ice skating sessions.
Each group can benefit from public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once he builds the popularity of his sessions he can start to offer exclusive sessions to certain target
markets.
For the elusive teen segment Claude should advertise on contemporary (pop, hip hop, etc.) local radio
stations that teens actually listen to. He can offer an exclusive teen night either Friday or Saturday
night. He should think about hiring a contemporary dj to play that night and encourage everyone who
comes to tweet, hashtag or upload selfies to their social apps(Twitter or Instagram).
For couples he can offer a couples only night designed around bonding and socializing. He could offer
a couples night out package that incorporates a public ice skating session that comes with hot cocoa
for two or wine for older couples.
For the kids he could have ice skating races where the winner wins a prize and offer times either on
Saturday or Sunday afternoons where kids can come and have birthday parties.
By defining each target market and finding each target markets value of his product he can then sell
his product in a way that appeals to all of the groups. These changes will then allow Claude to
generate the revenue he originally set out to make.

Reflection On Virtual Child
Final Reflection Virtual Child I learned many things through Virtual Child. I learned I babied my baby
too much. Any time she cried I picked her up, if she fell I was always there to pick her up. Throughout
her life I babied her. As a mother I would need to decode her cry s (Clinic. M). which in real life I
believe I would. I believe this because I would not have as much patient as I did with my virtual child.
But decoding cries, would be realizing the difference between a hungry cry and a diaper change cry.
This would be easy, new borns need feed every few hours. You change feel or look in the diaper to see
if the baby needs a clean diaper or its butt has rashes. The harder cries to decode would be if the baby
was hot or cold. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giving them everything they want, to please them because when they are happy I would be happy. But
this teaches the child nothing. This makes children not share well with other kids (Wartik, N. (2015,
August 05). From experience working in a daycare I witnessed and realized which kids were only
children, which kids were adopted and which children were neglected very quickly. Parents need to
find a balance between loving and playing with their children and not neglecting them. This balance
would be hard to do every day but is possible. Telling your child no is hard but must be done. Telling
your kid no every time they ask something is also not right. Many parents are scared to let their child,
be a child. Letting your child fall is normal. Letting your child cry is good. Letting your kids make
friends and not hang out with the parents and family all the time is normal. Even though it may be
hard because this baby is your life, you have to let it grow and do things on his or her own (Wartik N.
(2015, August 05).
This semester I have learned many things. In this program Virtual Child I learned, loving your infant
does not mean you need to smother the child. Letting your kid fail is good for them. I learned about
milestones children should reach at what ages. I know the doctor asks if the child as accomplished
certain milestones but being aware is also really important. So the parents can notice and point it out
to the doctor that

The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around Essay
The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around
I remember hearing stories of such a thing called the drunk bus before I came to college, but I was not
exactly sure what it was. I just figured the bus took a bunch of drunken college students to the bars
when they wanted to go. Now that I am a first year student at State U, I understand I was not that far
from the truth. Some say the bus should be taken away, but the fact of the matter is the bus is a
necessity at college since there will always be drinking. This way, when all of the students are done
drinking at school and want to go to the bars, they are not putting themselves or any other members of
the community in danger by drinking and driving.
Safety is always a factor
Of course, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am also positive if there were to be a terrible wreck caused by an intoxicated student, the entire
community would all agree that the drunk bus is a wise choice to keep in commission. If the drunk bus
were to go out of commission, then I am certain the amount of accidents would rise dramatically.
Sober students ride the bus as well
Not every person who gets on the bus is intoxicated. I have talked with many of my friends and they
tell me that they hardly ever are intoxicated when they go on the bus, but the just want to have a good
time and dance at the club. If students ask the bus driver, he will also make stops to local grocery
stores such as Wal Mart and Hy Vee. I know many students that go on the bus just hang out at the bar
to have fun, without drinking. Therefore, this shows how the bus has more than one use of just
transporting drunken students.
Students will always drink
I read a very interesting book called Behind the Arch: The Truth about Drinking at Buena Vista
University. This book explained how the Storm Lake, IA community feels that having the drunk Bus
around only encourages students to drink. I think the community needs to realize if there were no bus
to transport intoxicated students to and from the bars, the students only option would be to drive
intoxicated, which should never happen. Eighty five percent (or 334) of the 395 students who
completed the online survey indicated they drank (14). It is common knowledge there

White In The Great Gatsby
White is colour at its most complete and pure, the colour of perfection. The colour meaning of white is
purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. The colour white was introduced into the novel when
Daisy was described as wearing a white dress. The dress showed her as having a pure and innocent
personality. It was actually ironic that she wore white because the reader knows of her true
characteristics, even though she was represented as lovable character in the book and as well as the
movie. The white covered the fact that she was having an affair with Gatsby. White can also
sometimes symbolize honesty, which is something Nick looked for in people. The narrator and Gatsby
were both honest men and became friends because of it. Nick stopped dating Jordan Baker ... Show

Gatsby surprised her by making an appearance shortly after she arrived. The nervous Jay Gatsby
knocked over and broke a clock while trying to keep his cool around Daisy. This symbolized how time
stopped for the two of them when Gatsby went to war. Gatsby wished things could go back to how
they were before Daisy married Tom, but inside he knew that it was impossible then. The clock
breaking could also be seen as the end of Gatsby s time. It foreshadowed that his time was running
short and soon something might happen to prevent him from marrying Daisy. In the end, Wilson cut
Gatsby s time short by killing him, for basically no reason as he didn t even kill Myrtle. Overall, the
clock represented time and how it played a reoccurring roll in the novel. Time separated Daisy and
Gatsby from getting married five years prior to the setting of the story. The breaking of the clock
showed a sudden change in the steady pace of time. White is not only mentioned related to Gatsby, but
as Nick went to see Daisy for the first time, over at Tom Buchanan house, Tom said that he is
concerned about a book he recently read called The Rise of the Coloured

A Boy s Playing At War
1. How does the boy s playing at war comment on the motivation for adults to wage war? On the
horrifying carnage of the battlefield? Consider what message about war the child has learned from his
picture books. Just as the child did not understand the gravity of the situation, neither do adults,
specifically the politicians who declare war. Perhaps just as the child s upbringing prevented him from
discerning whether a human was suffering or whether it was a game, adults that wage war have the
same perspective. For example, when he observes the soldiers crawling on their knees it reminds him
of his riding on the slaves backs at his house. What I am getting at is, just as the child was conquering
imaginary enemies, the adults that wage war are letting their childish emotions affect the lives of
thousands of people. The child s distorted perception of the carnage on the battlefield is a direct result
of his upbringing. Plenty of examples exist. To name a few; first, Bierce states, ... for this child s spirit,

It was heroic to serve your country on the battlefield and you will well respected for it. However, just
as the child did not understand the situation, many others don t as well. Their perception of war is far
skewed from the actual reality, the role of Romanticism played a part in this ideology held by many.
The brutal violence one is subject to experience as a soldier in war is unforgettable. Just as the deaf
child, blind to his surroundings, saw nothing wrong with war until he arrived at his burning house to
find his mother dead, a great deal of others don t understand the gravity of the situation as well. Bierce
concealed this fact until the end to delineate that war is not some not how Romanticists pictured it,

Home Remodeling Project
A home remodeling project can be an exciting yet frightening time. We ve all heard complete horror
stories about contractors who didn t finish the job, robbed the homeowner of thousands of dollars or
projects that ended up costing way more than the contractor estimated. Hiring a remodeling contractor
doesn t have to be a horror story if you plan before you start your search and carefully research and
interview contractors before settling on the one who will complete your job. Know What You Want
Before researching contractors, know what you want done to your home. You don t want the

Everything should be documented in the contract. If there are changes to be made on either side, make
sure the contract reflects those changes including any new costs. Down Payment Contractors require a
down pyament before they ll start work on the home. Often, the down payment will pay for starting
materials. Be wary of a contractor who asks for half of the entire budget up front. You don t want to be
paying for the finishes on the contractor s last project. In some states, there s a legal limit to the
amount the contractor can ask for, but a safe amount is between 10 and 25 percent of the entire job.
Proper Permits Less than reputable companies might try to persuade you that you don t need permits.
Almost all home remodeling projects will need permits and inspections. When it s time to sell your

for work about to be done. You ll regret not obtaining the proper permits. It s also a way to judge the

Neuroanatomy Essay
Neuroanatomy is the study of structure and function relationships in the brain and nervous system. As
this encompasses a study of both macroscopic and microscopic structures, a variety of histological
tools have been developed to enable that endeavor
Microscopy
Microscopy is an important technique for studying the structure and function of the nervous system.
This is enabled through the use of histological staining, in which a tissue of interest is preserved and
sectioned, and then stained using one of an array of techniques.
Histological staining provides contrast to the tissue so that details can be distinguished. For example,
gray matter contains neuron cell bodies, or somata, that can be stained to become visible under a
microscope. Nissl stains are useful for gray matter. For white matter of the brain, dyes such as Luxol

Histochemistry studies can reveal the molecular interactions of structures, such as neurotransmitter
production and activity, metabolism, immune function, and other interactions. Histochemistry can also
be used to reveal chemoarchitecture or chemical neuroanatomy.
Immunocytochemistry is a type of histochemistry that makes use of antibodies to visualize cell types,
axons, neuron structures, glial processes, blood vessels, or molecular components of cells like
neurotransmitters and intranuclear proteins. Immunocytochemical studies can also be used for
genomics studies of nervous system cells. Combining these techniques with a fluorescent stain allows
visualization of enzyme binding sites and reactions.
In situ hybridization is also an important histochemical tool for neuroanatomy studies. It uses
synthetic ribonucleic acid (RNA) probes to visualize complementary messenger RNA (mRNA)
transcripts of genes in the cell. This can help to reveal gene function.

The Negative Stereotypes Of Foreign Driving In New Zealand
Foreign Drivers. A stereotype used daily by kiwis to discriminate against tourists, travelers and other
visitors to our country who are seen driving on our roads. This stereotype even applies to people who
live in New Zealand who we can identify are from a different culture or ethnicity. Obviously, the
negative repercussions of foreign drivers only applies to a very small portion of that population in our
country and in fact most, foreign drivers are very safe, experienced and take extra care since they are
driving in an unknown environment. However, we have all heard seen and even first hand experienced
some instances of foreign driving which makes us question whether the driver actually knows how to
drive a car. Sometimes a foreign driver could be so clueless and unsafe, that we question How did they
get a license in the first place .
The criteria for a foreign traveler to drive in New Zealand is simple. If they have a valid overseas
license in the English language, no previous suspension in New Zealand for driving and they came
into the country less than 12 months ago, they are more than eligible enough to drive here. Regardless
if they know the road code in New Zealand or even know how to drive on the left side of the road,
they will be let lose to freely travel around our country with no restrictions. Most tourists will be fine
because, keep in mind when us kiwis go and drive in other country s we more than likely won t cause

Football Injuries In Football
Unlike the Greek hero Achilles, soccer players have more than one weak spot. The lower extremities
particularly the knees and ankles are most frequently affected, but the other areas of the body are also
punished by this widely played sport and are not immune to injury. Most of these injuries are
superficial, and play can be resumed after a short layoff. Now and then, a player may suffer a more
than serious injury, which requires appropriate first aid and further expert treatment.
1. Skin Injuries
As an external protective covering of the human body, the skin is particularly vulnerable to sports
injuries. Abrasions, skin detachment or lacerations are not uncommon on the soccer field. These skin
injuries can be very painful but are usually harmless and heal quickly with no external intervention.
Larger wounds must first be cleaned, then disinfected and eventually wrapped with a sterile dressing.
Always bear in mind that a skin injury enables germs to enter the body; therefore a wound always
presents the danger of infection.
a. Abrasions
First Aid
To reduce the risk of infection, the surface of the wound should be cleaned with a Ringer s or saline
solution. Then disinfect the wound with a gentle skin disinfectant and cover it with a sterile, non
adhesive wound dressing. Play can usually then be resumed immediately
Therapy
Later in the healing process, an infection must be prevented. If necessary, the bandage should be
changed daily and the wound cleaned with an

his men were no longer heard from. However, in the 18th century there were still stories about Black

Effective Airline Security Measures Are Overdue Essay
Effective Airline Security Measures Are Overdue As far back as 1955, terrorist threats against the
airline industry have jeopardized the safety and security of airline passengers. This paper
chronologically describes some of the events that caused preventive measures to be proposed and in
fewer cases implemented. The fact that there is a terrorist threat against our nation s airline industry
has not changed, but the methods that these radicals employ to bring harm to travelers has grown
much more sophisticated. The techniques in use by the government and the airline industry to prevent
a catastrophic event have not kept pace. As the events of September 11th unfolded, it became obvious
that the havoc a well planned terrorist attack ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terrorist threats and hijackings, many involving live explosives, plagued civil aviation again in the
early 1970s. It took another disaster and more than a decade for the U.S. government to again take a
serious look at airline security.
This push was provided by the June 1985 plunge into the sea of an Air India flight near Ireland as the
result of a powerful explosion in its cargo hold and a hijacking the next month of TWA Flight 847
from Athens. (Federal Aviation Administration, 2001) The FAA ordered U.S. air carriers to tighten
security at major airports in other countries. And U.S. air carriers overseas were under FAA orders to
match every piece of luggage with every passenger to defeat the possibility that a terrorist might check
a suitcase containing a bomb, then not take the flight. Since that date, more than 24 fatal explosions
have been recorded on aircraft around the world. Despite this evidence, the U.S. has made little real
progress toward countering such threats to our airlines and their passengers. Today, only a small
percentage of passenger baggage on domestic flights is screened for explosives. (Federal Aviation
Administration) U.S. officials historically have responded to aviation disasters by proposing flurries of
security measures, only to roll back many of them when airlines objected and the public s focus on the

House M. D. Character Analysis
Critical Analysis Journal #1
The popular television show House M.D. is a medical drama that was on air on FOX network from
November, 2004 until May, 2012. In the shows eight years, it was nominated for eleven People s
Choice Awards, was one of the America s top ten television shows from its second season to its end,
the most watched show in the world in the year 2008, it won two Golden Globes, Primetime Emmy s
and the cast also won awards individually. However, its large success does not tell everything there is
to know about the show; House M.D. is in fact highly unrealistic in the way that medical cases are
presented and treated, from the diagnoses of the individuals who run the tests. If that news was not
shocking enough, this show spotlights a brilliant, sarcastic, Vicodin addicted, and out of control main
character, Doctor Gregory House. In virtually all one hundred and seventy seven episodes, of the
series, Dr. House is not only witty and cruel, but he is also incredibly sexist. His relationship with his

Pacific Northwest Fire Suppression Effects
INTRODUCTION
Projecting the effects of fire suppression and possible cumulative effects of fire suppression and other
disturbances are vital management tasks moving forward into forestry planning strategies for the
future. Although the long term effects of fire suppression in the Pacific Northwest have been
monitored since the early 1900 s, it is challenging to decipher relationships between the cumulative
effects of a century of suppression alongside climate change, insect outbreaks and disease and plan
how to combat them effectively.
Several software programs have been written and tested to simulate the future of these altered forests

In schools during the 1930 s, the education system failed to present authentic African American
History in schools and African Americans were taught that their history meant nothing because most
history books gave little or no space to the black man s presence in America.
Majority of the educator were from Northern and Western institution and had no concerns of a Negro,
they directed their attention to the majority, the whites. The educators taught the blacks that they were
inferior and would be nothing more than what the oppressor wanted them to be. They were shorted out
of genuine education, were taught less than whites, when in actuality they should be taught more than
the white.
The oppressor feared that if the Negro received an adequate education that they would strive for

If you teach the Negro that he has accomplished as much good as any other race he will aspire to
equality and justice without regard to race. Such an effort would upset the program of the oppressor in

Anxiety Disorder And Anxiety Disorders
A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an
uncertain outcome. This is the definition for anxiety from a text book stand point. Someone that has or
has experienced anxiety would describe it differently. An anxiety problem can be developed through
genetics, past life events, and personality. Anxiety can be broken down into six different branches:
generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobia, post traumatic
stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder. People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) often
have increased anxiety over something that shouldn t create worry. Such as thinking about having to

disorder. Someone with this disorder might travel an extra thirty minutes out of the way for work just
to avoid a bridge because of their fear of heights. Some believe that these phobias are developed
during childhood but they are more commonly brought on suddenly during adulthood. These people
usually realize that their fears are irrational but they can t change them because even thinking about
them cause extra distress. 8.7% (9 million) of American have this disorder and is usually onset around
the age of 7.
It is very normal for someone to have nightmares or flashbacks to something traumatic that happened
but post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) is much more serious. People that have experienced a very
traumatic event such as war, rape, death, or any other event will have PTSD. Sudden flashbacks or
memories can cause someone to have a panic attack or cause them to become very aggressive. PTSD
can stick around for months or even years after the experience that caused it. It is estimated that
around 7.8% of Americans will experience PTSD at some point in their lives.
Social anxiety disorder also known as social phobia is a phobia that prevents the person from being
able to have a normal social life. When in a crowed situation this person will have a constant fear that

The Applications Of Electromagnetic Waves
Applications of Electromagnetic Waves Electromagnetism involves the overall performance of electric
charges in different media, including in vacuum and in specific matter. This conduct can be precisely
portrayed by the Lorentz Transformation equations and and Maxwell s conditions, which were
obtained from trials demonstrating how forces acting on charges rely on upon the relative areas and
movements of different charges in its vicinity. Extra significant laws of physical sciences incorporate
Newton s law, photon quantization, and the preservation relations for charge, energy, control, as well
as power. Electromagnetic processes underlie a large portion of the electrical in electrical designing
and are fundamental to a sound comprehension of that area of physics. Ever since Maxwell derived his
famous equations, the doors opened up for significant research into the application of electromagnetic
waves in every day life (Becker Selden 20). The most significant conclusion of Maxwell s theory was
that electric fields and magnetic fields are interrelated and travel together as a wave. Initially even
though it was assumed that these electromagnetic waves, including light, needed an ether to travel in
space, it was proved subsequently that such an ether did not exist and that all EM waves travel with
the same speed of 300000km/sec (Feynman et al 14). The branch of electrical engineering has

George Bush Biography
Introduction
George W. Bush is one of the most controversial figures in recent memory. From his boyhood
boarding schools and military background to the election in 2000, Bush has been the beneficiary of
preferential treatment. Coming from a family of wealthy politicians and businessmen, he did not have
to want, or work very hard for anything. That is, until his presidency pushed him on to the global
scene making it nearly impossible to underachieve like he did in school and in the military. Several
encounters with both the law and the Securities and Exchange Commission weren t enough to check
the Bush privilege. In fact, his family influence was strong enough to infiltrate the U.S. military,
Florida, and U.S. Supreme Courts during his time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After two years of piloting and logging over 336 flight hours, Bush requested to transfer to 9921st Air
Squadron in Montgomery, Alabama under Colonel Reese R. Bricken, in order to work on the senate
campaign of George H.W. s close friend William Blount. Before he could do so, Bricken made it clear
to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the service, but
Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972, the Air Reserve
Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush s transfer request, saying that he could not be reassigned to
an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations. Against the orders of his
superior officers, Bush relocated to Alabama anyway, leaving his guard responsibilities unresolved. In
August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying due to his failure to report for a medical exam. Soon
after, Bush reapplied for transfer to 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group in Alabama and was
promptly approved. This is where allegations of Bush going A.W.O.L come into play. There are no
actual records of Bush performing any of his Guard duties between May 1972 and May 1973. William

Responsibility And Its Effects On Young Minds
The infamous mantra that parents everywhere have heard time after time from children is, He made

you do not want to be responsible for the situation, you blame it on someone else. As we get older, we
begin to realize how important taking responsibility really is. In fact, 93% of the 3,000 parents
surveyed by the Pew Research Center said that responsibility was the number one character trait they
wanted their child to possess. Ron Kurtus, the creator of School for Champions, said, Being

Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemmingway
In the story Hills Like White Elephants, Ernest Hemmingway allows a superficial plot to symbolically
display a conflict between choice of destination as a couple s discussion between train rides. The
layers of description and dialog manipulate a small moment of time and demonstrate that a human
choice can range while perspective shifts the understood potential of the landscape. By crafting an
intricate story that is filled with symbolism and overlapping complexities, Hemmingway provides a
sophisticated short story that exposes the feelings behind controversial life choices. The story begins
by introducing the side of the valley with no shade and no trees, a forty minute wait time, and the

Comparing Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the 1972 Film...
Bram Stoker s Dracula is not only a classic story of men and monsters, but a dramatic reactionary
work to the perceived threats to Victorian society in nineteenth century England. In modern times
there have been many film adaptations of the novel, each developing a unique analysis or criticism of
the literary text within the framework of the society and time period in which it was created. The 1972
film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights
many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Among the primary similarities

Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which
would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread
xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived
threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of
Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and
figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of
eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained
widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many
authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign
peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one
which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as
the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15). Race is a key element in the movie Blacula, in which the
film s eponymous villain is an ancient African prince cursed by Count Dracula to walk the earth for
eternity in search of human blood. Blacula is literally and metaphorically an updated version of the

Effects Of Migration In Mexico
Introduction
Migration is one of the biggest and most known examples of living. People migrate all the time,
whether it is immigration into a country or emigrating out of a country. Migration happens very often,
especially in our modern world; needless to say, it is something that people use as privilege in order to
sustain and make their lives better. People migrate for numerous reasons, and those reasons depend on
how their lives will be formed later on in time. On this subject, a specific example of migration can be
seen in the illegal immigration from Mexico to USA. Many people in Mexico are not pleased with
their lives, therefore they use illegal immigration in order to enhance it. Currently, in the modern
world, America has been the solution to many individuals living problems in LEDC s as well as in

explain his ideas. A motif is a recurring element or symbol that is seen in a literary composition. One
specific motif used by Shakespeare was disordered nature. Unnatural events are featured in many parts
of the play. The first occurrence takes place when Banquo and Macbeth meet the three witches in Act
1 Scene 3. While speaking to Macbeth, Banquo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the deserted area, Macbeth claims to the witches, though the treasure/ Of nature s germens tumble
all together,/ Even till destruction sicken, answer me/ To what I ask you. Macbeth is willing to risk
anything to receive King Duncan s title, even if it may involve destroying nature itself. After hearing
the words of the witches, Macbeth ensures that he will not be defeated by telling himself, high placed
Macbeth/ Shall live the lease of nature, pay his breath/ To time and mortal custom. Macbeth believes
through the witches prophecies, he will live a long life and die naturally. However, Macbeth feels all
the murders he has committed are beginning to hold him back, causing his time to pass quickly.
In the last act of the play, Lady Macbeth s guilt begins to build up, as she is constantly seen
sleepwalking. Lady Macbeth tries to clean her hands from the evidence of Duncan s murder; however,
nothing seems to purify her. The doctor who has been observing Lady Macbeth claims, Unnatural
deeds/ Do breed unnatural troubles. Infected minds/ To their deaf pillows will discharge their secrets./
More needs she the divine than the physician. Lady Macbeth s actions have greatly impacted her, that
no earthly assistance would be able to cure her of her disease. She has ruined her soul, and nothing

Tenebris Empire
In Western Silva there lay two powerful empires, forged by the tears of many men and several vicious
battles. Each empire had a strength all its own and are only separated by the argentum river. On the
east of the Argentum river the Aurum empire has stood strong for thousands of years under the careful
watch of several monarchs each one fair and truthful like the last. On the west of the river lays the
Tenebris empire, created from lies and deceit a source for all black magic and forbidden potions.
These empires coexisted as peacefully they could however after thousands of semi peaceful years
tensions have started to rise again over the boundaries of the land, as the Tenebris empire expands the
Aurum empire is beginning to collapse. At the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have....conquered... the westland ports.. He wheezed. They have been gaining fast and we are
losing resources. The empress voice faltered for a second before stating Find the captain of the royal
guard and inform him of this immediately. The page left swiftly. The Empress let out a swift sigh
before adjusting her crown. News of this would quickly spread and a formal address would be needed.
She set out to find the royal tailor. After an hour of getting poked and prodded her dress as fitted and
ready, Ivory peered into the long mirror admiring the tailors fine work. Her dress was exquisite, the
Cadet grey color complimented her pale skin and the lace detailing and beading added elegance to the
dress. Her bold eye makeup helped her bright yellow eyes standout and her crown rested perfectly
atop her tightly pinned blonde hair. She made her way along the barely lit dark long and twisting
corridors before a noise from the southeast wing caught her attention. With a sudden turn she went to
investigate only to find Malus Eque a renowned knight from the Tennebris Empire waiting to catch
her. He ran forward to catch her only to be tripped by her foot as she took off running. As the empress
ran she shouted for any knight to find her or servant to save her the corridors seemed never ending and
soon she was stuck at a dead end as she accepted her fate. Malus caught up to her and the last thing
she remembers is a sweet smelling cloth being placed in front of her

24-Hour Dietary Analysis
The 24 hour dietary recalls were assessed with the standardized, interactive PC guided program EPIC
Soft (11, 12). 847 participants, ≥18 years old (only these were invited for anthropometry assessment
and a blood sample), completed at least two (most of them three) 24 hour recalls. The 24 hour recalls
were assessed by trained study personnel in a telephone interview. The data from the recalls per
person were weighted for weekday and weekend day to calculate the average daily food intake. The
different foods reported during the 24 hour dietary recalls were grouped into 17 food groups (12).
Nutrient intakes were calculated using food content data from the German food composition database

The Haitian Revolution Of 1791
The Haitian Revolution
To say that all men are born and created equally is an understatement to say the least. Speaking
morally, yes. But in reality, no. Especially if you are someone of African descent lost in the diaspora.
Case in point, the Haitian Revolution. Holding someone against their will and forcing them into
slavery is wrong. To force an unfair and unjustified debt upon a people for fighting for their freedom
and winning is double wrong and equally as bad as slavery. It goes as a slap in the face to those who
have did nothing wrong other than be born onto a world where the color of their skin and the content
of you culture is scrutinized and is used as a reason for those of the dominate society to place a ...

Producing sugar, coffee, cocoa, indigo, cotton, sisal, tobacco, fruits and vegetables all for the
consumption of France gave it its title as the richest colony in the history of the world. The island was
made up of four different but distinct groups. They are: The whites, the free people of color, the black
slaves and the maroons. The whites were mostly French and numbered about 20,000 and they were
divided into two main groups: The planters and the petit blancs. The planters were the wealthy whites
that own plantations and slaves. The second and less powerful group known as the petit blancs was
made up of shop keepers, artisans, merchants, teachers, and different middle and underclass whites.
The petit blancs often had slaves but not that many as the planters. Both groups were committed to
slavery and anti black; they seen free blacks as a serious economic and social competitor. Next you
have the free people of color. They ranged in the number of 30,000. Half of which were mulattoes,
children of the slave owners and slave women. The other half were black slaves who were 500,000
strong, who had purchased their own freedom or was given freedom by their masters. The free blacks
were wealthy and that really didn t sit well with the petit blancs. Lastly, the maroons. They were a
large group of run away slaves who lived deep in the mountains and the kept alive the African ways
and traditions like voodoo. Maroons

  • 3. Hotspur Metaphors In Shakespeare s Henry IV, Part 1, Hotspur, the most talented young warrior in England, leads a rebellion against King Henry IV while, Hal, the king s seemingly lazy, indifferent son and heir to the throne, fights against Hotspur for the throne. Hal and Hotspur have a similar ideology as seen in their common metaphors; however, Hal speaks with various extended metaphors, biblical allusions, and strategically places his use of verse and prose while Hotspur speaks with simpler metaphors, war imagery, and mainly speaks in verse. Shakespeare emphasizes these speech patterns to demonstrate Hal s ability to manipulate the world to his benefit and Hotspur s extremely volatile sensibility, and thus, proves Hal to be more qualified to rule than Hotspur. Hal and Hotspur share some of the same metaphors, most notably, their common use of debt as a metaphor for honor and responsibility, which indicates how they both see these values in a mercantile fashion. In Hal s first soliloquy, he says he will pay the debt I never promised (I.2.77), a reference to his plan to act like a drunken thief, so when he becomes king, he will seem like a greater leader. Hal saying he will pay the debt , or him being an effective king, displays how he thinks that he can easily exchange his immature behavior for honor and that being a good king can instantly buy the favor of the people. Also, the word debt implies that Hal believes that the king has an important obligation to be honorable to the kingdom. Hotspur also uses the metaphor, saying King Henry IV Studies day and night / To answer all the debt he owes to you / Even with the bloody payment of your deaths (I.3.184 186). Because Hotspur s father and uncle helped King Henry take the throne, Hotspur believes that the king has a responsibility to treat them well, which he does not fulfill. This illustrates how Hotspur also views honor as a transaction: when given, it must be repaid. Both Hal and Hotspur believe that honor can be exchanged like goods, and they view honor, like debt, as a responsibility that must be maintained, indicating they understand the importance of honor in society. Hal and Hotspur share a similar ideology, but Hal s elevated language portrays him as more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Themes In The Rape Of Lucrece In The Rape of Lucrece, there is one theme throughout the poem, and that is to conquer. The themes of war, violence, and the evidence of Tarquin s sexual conquest remain constant. However, this is present specifically with the physical rape of Lucrece itself and the parading of her body around Rome after her death. The constant air of sex and power dominates this poem. Lucrece is used as a political symbol that must be conquered throughout the entirety of the reading. The Rape of Lucrece displays the idea of male dominance and female silence in Tarquin s powerful rage and Lucrece s ability to be dominated. In the time of the Renaissance society, men often held positions of power over women. Women were not seen as having an independent voice, as they were often seen as property of their fathers before they were married. In The Rape of Lucrece, Tarquin is able to control Lucrece and silence her. The physical act of raping her is able to dominate her physically and emotionally, and that is what remains constant throughout this poem. If Lucrece has anything, it is her chastity which holds great power, and that is stolen from her in such a grotesque way. However, before the physical act can occur there are several obstacles that must be conquered before Lucrece herself can be taken. This adds to the idea constant idea of war and power through conquest. The locks between her chamber and his will, each one by him enforced, retired his ward; But as they open they all rate his ill. Which drives the creeping thief to some regard. The threshold grates the door to have him heard (302 306). This scene is the first obstacle that must be overcome in the attempt to proceed with his final act. The locks to her door are squeaky as they open, threatening to reveal Tarquin. The threshold rubs against the opening of the door, also attempting to make his presence known. Through little vents and crannies of the place the wind wars with his torch to make him stay, and blows the smoke of it into his face (310 312). Here, a second challenge is presented. His torch is extinguished, which will make him unable to see in the dark night, but he moves forward, determined to conquer each of these new obstacles. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Emotion Related Cultural Value With Regulation Strategies... 1. One of the unique features of human is the ability to regulate and adjust emotions on particular situational demands. What happen when we get angry but cannot express it? Or when we feel upset but have to try to be fine? Under some circumstances like these examples, we regulate our emotions. Emotion regulation(ER) refers to the capacity to control and manage one s emotional reaction in order to achieve a goal directed outcome. We know coping, reappraisal, or suppression as some typical tactics of managing emotions, but how these types of regulation strategies differ among individuals, and how cultural values can be related to the preference of use of different strategies? This study will provide a general idea beyond the basic understanding of ER by comparing individual difference on emotion related cultural value with regulation strategies. This study focuses on emotion related values based on the Hofstede model of six dimensions of national cultures (power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism/collectivism, masculinity/femininity, long/short term orientation, and indulgence/restraint), by only focusing on long/short term orientation and uncertainty avoidance as emotion related cultural values. Short/long term orientation refers to the perspective of whether or not looking at the future. Short term orientated people tend to emphasize on the current time and believe important events in life occur in the past or now. They also tend to attribute both success and ... For the elusive teen segment Claude should advertise on contemporary (pop, hip hop, etc.) local radio stations that teens actually listen to. He can offer an exclusive teen night either Friday or Saturday night. He should think about hiring a contemporary dj to play that night and encourage everyone who comes to tweet, hashtag or upload selfies to their social apps(Twitter or Instagram). For couples he can offer a couples only night designed around bonding and socializing. He could offer a couples night out package that incorporates a public ice skating session that comes with hot cocoa for two or wine for older couples. For the kids he could have ice skating races where the winner wins a prize and offer times either on Saturday or Sunday afternoons where kids can come and have birthday parties. Any time she cried I picked her up, if she fell I was always there to pick her up. Throughout her life I babied her. As a mother I would need to decode her cry s (Clinic. M). which in real life I believe I would. I believe this because I would not have as much patient as I did with my virtual child. But decoding cries, would be realizing the difference between a hungry cry and a diaper change cry. This would be easy, new borns need feed every few hours. This makes children not share well with other kids (Wartik, N. (2015, August 05). From experience working in a daycare I witnessed and realized which kids were only children, which kids were adopted and which children were neglected very quickly. Parents need to find a balance between loving and playing with their children and not neglecting them. This balance would be hard to do every day but is possible. Telling your child no is hard but must be done. Telling your kid no every time they ask something is also not right. Many parents are scared to let their child, be a child. Letting your child fall is normal. Letting your child cry is good. Letting your kids make friends and not hang out with the parents and family all the time is normal. Even though it may be hard because this baby is your life, you have to let it grow and do things on his or her own (Wartik N. (2015, August 05). This semester I have learned many things. In this program Virtual Child I learned, loving your infant does not mean you need to smother the child. Letting your kid fail is good for them. • 9. The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around Essay The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around I remember hearing stories of such a thing called the drunk bus before I came to college, but I was not exactly sure what it was. I just figured the bus took a bunch of drunken college students to the bars when they wanted to go. Now that I am a first year student at State U, I understand I was not that far from the truth. Some say the bus should be taken away, but the fact of the matter is the bus is a necessity at college since there will always be drinking. If the drunk bus were to go out of commission, then I am certain the amount of accidents would rise dramatically. Sober students ride the bus as well Not every person who gets on the bus is intoxicated. I have talked with many of my friends and they tell me that they hardly ever are intoxicated when they go on the bus, but the just want to have a good time and dance at the club. If students ask the bus driver, he will also make stops to local grocery stores such as Wal Mart and Hy Vee. I know many students that go on the bus just hang out at the bar to have fun, without drinking. Therefore, this shows how the bus has more than one use of just transporting drunken students. Students will always drink I read a very interesting book called Behind the Arch: The Truth about Drinking at Buena Vista University. This book explained how the Storm Lake, IA community feels that having the drunk Bus around only encourages students to drink. I think the community needs to realize if there were no bus to transport intoxicated students to and from the bars, the students only option would be to drive intoxicated, which should never happen. • 10. White In The Great Gatsby White is colour at its most complete and pure, the colour of perfection. The colour meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. The colour white was introduced into the novel when Daisy was described as wearing a white dress. The dress showed her as having a pure and innocent personality. It was actually ironic that she wore white because the reader knows of her true characteristics, even though she was represented as lovable character in the book and as well as the movie. Gatsby surprised her by making an appearance shortly after she arrived. The nervous Jay Gatsby knocked over and broke a clock while trying to keep his cool around Daisy. This symbolized how time stopped for the two of them when Gatsby went to war. It foreshadowed that his time was running short and soon something might happen to prevent him from marrying Daisy. In the end, Wilson cut Gatsby s time short by killing him, for basically no reason as he didn t even kill Myrtle. Overall, the clock represented time and how it played a reoccurring roll in the novel. Time separated Daisy and Gatsby from getting married five years prior to the setting of the story. The breaking of the clock showed a sudden change in the steady pace of time. • 11. A Boy s Playing At War 1. How does the boy s playing at war comment on the motivation for adults to wage war? On the horrifying carnage of the battlefield? Consider what message about war the child has learned from his picture books. Just as the child did not understand the gravity of the situation, neither do adults, specifically the politicians who declare war. Perhaps just as the child s upbringing prevented him from discerning whether a human was suffering or whether it was a game, adults that wage war have the same perspective. For example, when he observes the soldiers crawling on their knees it reminds him of his riding on the slaves backs at his house. What I am getting at is, just as the child was conquering imaginary enemies, the adults that wage war are letting their childish emotions affect the lives of thousands of people. The child s distorted perception of the carnage on the battlefield is a direct result of his upbringing. Plenty of examples exist. The brutal violence one is subject to experience as a soldier in war is unforgettable. Effective Airline Security Measures Are Overdue Essay Effective Airline Security Measures Are Overdue As far back as 1955, terrorist threats against the airline industry have jeopardized the safety and security of airline passengers. This paper chronologically describes some of the events that caused preventive measures to be proposed and in fewer cases implemented. The fact that there is a terrorist threat against our nation s airline industry has not changed, but the methods that these radicals employ to bring harm to travelers has grown much more sophisticated. The techniques in use by the government and the airline industry to prevent a catastrophic event have not kept pace. Terrorist threats and hijackings, many involving live explosives, plagued civil aviation again in the early 1970s. It took another disaster and more than a decade for the U.S. government to again take a serious look at airline security. This push was provided by the June 1985 plunge into the sea of an Air India flight near Ireland as the result of a powerful explosion in its cargo hold and a hijacking the next month of TWA Flight 847 from Athens. (Federal Aviation Administration, 2001) The FAA ordered U.S. air carriers to tighten security at major airports in other countries. And U.S. air carriers overseas were under FAA orders to match every piece of luggage with every passenger to defeat the possibility that a terrorist might check a suitcase containing a bomb, then not take the flight. Since that date, more than 24 fatal explosions have been recorded on aircraft around the world. Despite this evidence, the U.S. has made little real progress toward countering such threats to our airlines and their passengers. Today, only a small percentage of passenger baggage on domestic flights is screened for explosives. (Federal Aviation Administration) U.S. officials historically have responded to aviation disasters by proposing flurries of security measures, only to roll back many of them when airlines objected and the public s focus on the ... • 25. The Applications Of Electromagnetic Waves Applications of Electromagnetic Waves Electromagnetism involves the overall performance of electric charges in different media, including in vacuum and in specific matter. This conduct can be precisely portrayed by the Lorentz Transformation equations and and Maxwell s conditions, which were obtained from trials demonstrating how forces acting on charges rely on upon the relative areas and movements of different charges in its vicinity. Extra significant laws of physical sciences incorporate Newton s law, photon quantization, and the preservation relations for charge, energy, control, as well as power. Electromagnetic processes underlie a large portion of the electrical in electrical designing and are fundamental to a sound comprehension of that area of physics. Ever since Maxwell derived his famous equations, the doors opened up for significant research into the application of electromagnetic waves in every day life (Becker Selden 20). The most significant conclusion of Maxwell s theory was that electric fields and magnetic fields are interrelated and travel together as a wave. Initially even though it was assumed that these electromagnetic waves, including light, needed an ether to travel in space, it was proved subsequently that such an ether did not exist and that all EM waves travel with the same speed of 300000km/sec (Feynman et al 14). Before he could do so, Bricken made it clear to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the service, but Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972, the Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush s transfer request, saying that he could not be reassigned to an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations. The 1972 film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15).
