Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Speech
President, Ronald W. Reagan, in his speech, Explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger Address to the
Nation, Reagan expresses the grief and loss due to the tragedy that has occurred to the Challenger.
Regan s purpose was to acknowledge the terrible explosion of the Challenger, witnessed by majority
of the people including children and killed all seven crew members: Michael Smith, Dick, Scobee,
Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa MC Auliffe; although
despite such horrible incident, Regan had insisted that the nation should continue the space program.
He adopts a empathetic and encouraging tone in order to show his consideration to the victimized
families and to promote the continuation of the space program as a sign of moving forward. Therefore,
in Reagan s speech, he conveyed his empathy and the will to go on with the use of rhetorical devices
such as ethos, pathos, allusion, and anaphora. Reagan had commenced his speech with the use of
Pathos, The day Reagan had given his speech, he proclaimed that it was a day of mourning and
remembering (1). Regan has put into recognition of the tragedy that recently took place, which was
the explosion of the Challenger. Not only that the families of the astronauts were victimized are
experiencing the pain, but the whole nation as a whole for it was a national loss. The country has lost a
group of people in order to find new discoveries for their country due to a failure of a shuttle. Thus,

Interracial Marriage Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Race and religion do not matter in today s society because since the mid 1900 s the
world has evolved. Interracial relationships are becoming more common and are bringing diversity
into society. As a result, this shows that people are becoming more accepting to other races/religions
and support systems are available to interracial couples.
Body Paragraph #1
Topic Sentence: Racial diversity in marriages today is becoming more common and couples are more
open minded and accepting to the fact that racial differences does not matter in a relationship.
Supporting Evidence #1: According to Jayson (2011), Research has found young adults today have
more friends of diverse racial backgrounds than past generations and are more willing ... Show more

Therefore, there are support groups for interfaith couples to learn about their partner s faith along with
their own.
Supporting Evidence #1: An increasing number of families are relieved to have an organization to turn
to such as IFFP, where both spouses faith s are regarded equally and neither spouse feels pressured to
give their faith (Hanes, 2014)
Explanation: The Interfaith Family Project (IFFP) is one of the largest organizations in the country
that sets interfaith religious curriculum for Sunday schools. And they have inspired hundreds of
families to pursue a joint intentional interfaith relationship. In addition, this organization gives people
in interfaith relationships the chance to see the positive outlook on both religions.
Supporting Evidence #2: In Campbell s book along with co author Robert Putnam the American
phenomenon was explained that individuals felt more compassionate to others religions based on the
more exposure they had to it. In addition, they said when Americans add other religions to their social
networks their understanding and tolerance increased which lead to the unique combinations of more
religious devotion and diversity in the U.S (Hanes,

Murder Conventions
In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather
than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in
this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my
opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes
and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only
subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught
the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is
never caught, and usually in crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the film the song comes on the radio, and when the detectives check outside, it has started
raining. They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but
all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well
because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes
such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight
play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop
kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated.
Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost
all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be
able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a
crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to
offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and

Mystery Mixture Lab Report
Someone hands you a container of a mysterious white mixture, and they give you the task to figure out
what it is. What would you do to solve the problem at hand? Many scientists might find physical and
chemical properties to figure it out. The scientists might look for, odor change, temperature change,
fizzing, and bubbling for chemical properties. They also inspect the mixtures for physical properties
before a chemical reaction occurs, including shape, size, color, texture, and smell. The Eighth grade
thinks that the mystery mixture is C6H8O7(Citric Acid) and NaHCO3(Baking Soda).
The class believes that it is C6H8O7 and NaHCO3 because of their physical and chemical properties.
The mystery mixture has some chunky parts, along with some ... Show more content on

They ruled this combination out by comparing its physical and chemical properties to those of the
mystery mixture. One of the differences between the mystery mixture and the mixture of MgSO4,
C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 is during the chemical reaction. During the reaction of the mystery mixture
the bubbles and only about one centimeter high. During the reaction of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and
NaHCO3, the bubbles were approximately one inch tall. Another difference during the chemical
reaction was the time that the two mixtures fizzed. The mystery mixture fizzed for about 3 minutes
and 14 seconds. The combination of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 fizzed for approximately 5
minutes and 47 seconds. Thirdly, the eighth grade scientists decided to eliminate MgSO4, C6H8O7,
and NaHCO3 as a possibility to be the mystery mixture because during the reaction the mystery
mixture s temperature was 16.5oC at the end of the reaction. While the combination of MgSO4,
C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 ended up at 17.6oC. Finally, the scientist knew that they could rule out the
mixture of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 is because they noticed that the chunks in the mystery
mixture were not shiny, but very dull, and the lumps in the mix of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3

Compassion In The Holocaust
Compassion is defined as sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. In
this case the idea of compassion could have changed the history of the world. The Holocaust was the
killing of millions of Jews and other people by the Nazi s during World War 2.This was truly based
upon hatred of a religous group, and wouldn t be possible without Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi
Germany. Until a certain point no one was showing compassion for the people being terrorized by this
tyrant. It is unknown to historians that during this time period the people didn t know what was
happening, or they didn t want to believe what was happening. With that being said, could compassion
have been a key factor in stopping the Holocaust earlier than it already was?
On April 23, 2009 Elie Weisel said (...)that even on the edge of the abyss, is is possible to dream

During the early stages of the Holocaust a boat of refugees escaped Nazi Germany and fled to the
United States. As they arrived the U.S immediately told the boat to return to Germany. How could my
country be so cold blooded? They sent them back to be brutally murdered or sent to concentration
camps. The lack of compassion at the beginning of the Holocaust was clearly shown here. This was a
chance to save hundreds of people from the Nazi s. The U.S wasn t able to accept what was occurring
on the other half of the world. Which lead them to showing no compassion for the refugees leading to
even more casualties during this terrifying time period. The times that compassion has ever effected

Imperial System Of Han China During The Yongzheng Period...
Autocracy in Qing China During The Yongzheng Period In Jonathan D. Spence s book, Treason By
The Book, we are introduced to Qing China during the rule of the Yongzheng Emperor who, during
his reign, must investigate a scandal involving dissident, rogue scholars who threaten the Chinese
imperial system. The imperial system revolves entirely around the emperor who must rule
benevolently, and as an autocrat. As is typical of an autocrat, the Emperor rules by divine right, and as
a result has no checks on his power by law or citizenry, contains some elements of arbitrariness such
as cronyism, nepotism and overruling officials based on what comes down to emotion, and has a vast
bureaucracy capable of tracking down and interrogating anyone accused of being a dissident,
including other officials. Therefore, despite Emperor Yongzheng s noble attitudes and ideas, evidence
within Treason By The Book shows that Yongzheng is unequivocally an autocrat, because he fits all
the previously listed criteria. When looking at what made Emperor Yongzheng an autocrat, it s
important to look at the tactics implemented by the emperor to ensure cooperation and to crack down
on any resistance or potential plots against him. During the first few pages of Treason By The Book,
we are introduced to first instance of the very efficient and meticulous world of bureaucratic spy
campaigns and information gathering authorities when the Emperor sends an official from the
Ministry of Punishments to gather

The For Efficient Distribution Of The European Commission...
1) Briefly summarise the main points of the case
Verboven s (2009) discusses vertical restraints, concluding their necessity for efficient distribution,
discussing how the European Commission has altered its interpretation of Article 81 overtime. Three
types of restraint are highlighted: Selective distribution, Exclusive distribution and Exclusive dealing,
and that restraint adoption depended on current levels of regulation. Verboven (2009) explains that
vertical restraints became subjected to EU Competition Laws and due to cumulative anti competitive
effects were reformed, becoming stricter. By 2002, new block exemptions aimed to increase flexibility
on acceptable agreements and that only Selective or Exclusive distribution can be applied, not both.
Black clauses including Retail Price Maintenance (RPM) and passive selling outside of territories
were listed. Nevertheless, post 2002 manufacturers were now allowed to make certain vertical
agreements (excluding black clauses), assuring their market share was within the newly defined
thresholds (in general 30%).
Overall, Verboven (2009) emphasised three main issues. Firstly, double marginalisation occurring
when both manufacturer and dealer apply separate profit incentivised mark ups. Secondly, vertical
externalities result in dealers having no incentive to provide sale and after sale services, as the dealer
ultimately provides the manufacturer with increased profits. Finally, competing dealerships may
freeride on

How Did The Plague Affect Athenian Culture
A sickness which started in the head then developed to affect every part of the body, is an under rated,
mild description of the Plague of Athens. Thucydides explains that the plague not only harshly
affected men s physical bodies, but also their actions. People began to become fearful of becoming
infected, which caused them to avoid visiting friends and family members who were afflicted with the
disease. Furthermore, the plague also negatively affected the character of the Athenian people. The
intense fear of having the disease even motivated men to become indifferent to every rule of religion
or of law : individuals began to act self indulgently because they believed that they would not be alive
long enough to be brought to trial or punished.

Who Is Weng In The River s Song
Becoming good at a skill for most people takes many steps, and for some those steps aren t exactly
alike. The character Weng, in Suchen Christine Lim s novel The River s Song, exemplifies this. The
novel often switches perspectives between main characters, Ping and Weng, and moves back and forth
through time. Largely based around music, this novel follows both characters through where their
musical journey takes them. Pings journey takes her to America to teach music, separating her from
Weng for much of their adult lives. The novel is set in Singapore for much of the story, and centers
around the cleaning up of their river there, where many people work and live, including Weng. This
cleaning up of the river largely contributes to his musical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After nine months in prison, he is given a chance to use his talents and learn to become a well known
musician. Weng describes his time there to Ping and what he had to go through: The conservatory
accepted me as a fee paying student. Even then, life was hard. We had to be up at five every day, it
was practice, practice and more practice...The Training regimen was very, very tough, the professors
were top notch. If it weren t for Professor Mah Shi fei, I would ve quit (Suchen 195). This step here is
where Weng finally transitioned into the musician he is meant to be. Music essentially became his life
for awhile people who become good at anything, at some point dedicated every waking moment to it.
All the previous steps in his life led up to this point. Chong Suk s early influence to work towards
discipline allowed him the ability to stick through all those long hours at school. Weng could not have
made it through that schooling without his father drilling it into him at an early age. His step with Ping
gave him insight on how to play with others and deal with others. Not much is mention on the school
other than that passage but, it seems reasonable to conclude that he would have to teach others in the
school and learn other things from that teaching. All this allowed him to achieve a great deal in the
music community. This is apparent by how even ping living in America had heard about him: I ve kept
in touch with the Singapore music scene as part of my professional interest, and the name of the
orchestra s principal flautist and dizi player, well known in Asian music circles, has not escaped my
notice. In fact, I ve been quietly tracking his rise to fame (Suchen 153). Ultimately through these steps
he achieved what he dreamed of and what was meant for him. He gathered praise for his playing and
Weng s fame grew as well, all traits of a good

The Last Battle Of The Civil War
Leadership through Redemption
In Nicholas Lemann s story Redemption: The Last Battle of the Civil War, it shows a theme of
leadership through the main character of the story, and Adelbert Ames effectively demonstrates the
required traits of a main character and a leader. The book focused on a lot of events that happened in
the Reconstruction era. It tells about both the political characteristics and the social characteristics that
are unraveled throughout the reformation of the South and giving the African Americans the right to
vote along with other political freedoms. Throughout the story, Adelbert Ames successfully
demonstrates the qualities of a great protagonist and a leader. Adelbert Ames shows the theme of
leadership and how his change in his ambition and morality would make him a better leader in his life.
In the story, Adelbert Ames shows his great leadership and guidance. He was one of the great leaders
after the time of the Civil War. He was also a key contributor in the American Civil War. He was
quoted as a beau ideal of a division leader (32). His great leadership was awarded with the Medal of
Honor, which is one of the highest medals in the army. He was known as a man who would do
anything for his people and he would go the distance to help them out. As told by the story, he was a
leader that also treated his soldiers right. This is seen in this quote: Although he never permitted
anything to stand in his way, and never asked men to go where he would

The Importance Of Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium carbonate that is secreted by
corals. They are usually built by colonies of tiny animals that are in marine water containing some
nutrients (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals
consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian
that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and
agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a
thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the
ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex
and a varied ecosystem.
In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and
coastal protection. Globally their value has been estimated to be between $29 billion and $375 billion
per year (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). They have been of significance to the coastal line by
protecting the shorelines through absorptions of the waves. Coral reef has been estimated to be
consuming more than six million tons of fish every year. Of well managed they can yield more than
fifteen tonnes of seafood per square kilometre.
Although their significance coral reefs have been the endangered species. Reefs are at risk with the
encroachment of algae. When overfishing

Double burden of malnutrition in India
Double burden of malnutrition in India Undernutrition and Overnutrition
Introduction
The nutritional double burden, encompassing both undernutrition (stunting, underweight and wasting)
and overnutrition (overweight and obesity), has become an important public health challenge in many
developing countries. Globally, an estimated 99 million under five year olds were underweight in
2012, with the low and middle income countries of Asia accounting for more than 70 percent of these
undernourished children (WHO, 2012a). Although many developing countries have achieved
significant reductions in the prevalence of undernutrition during the past two decades, the pace of
decline was slow and insufficient to meet the Millennium Development Goals ... Show more content

Therefore, it is important that the issues of nutritional double burden in many developing countries
need to be addressed in the context of socioeconomic status. This could help identify the complex
interplay of social, economic, and political determinants of undernutrition and overnutrition.
Many developing countries are growing economically, and it can be expected that the prevalence of
undernutrition would decrease and obesity would become a problem among wealthy and privileged
classes. However, research has shown that obesity and associated non communicable diseases(NCDs)
are increasingly affecting all sectors of society, and the poor or disadvantaged are more likely to be
vulnerable to these health hazards (Khandelwal et al., 2013). Also, it can be seen that many
developing countries are still incapable of dealing with these health challenges of nutritional double
burden, therefore in order to minimize adverse nutritional outcomes, there need to be a reconsideration
of current policies and further understanding of these health challenges.
Prevalence and consequences of nutritional conditions in India
India is one of the developing countries which are experiencing multiple transitions in its nutritional
pattern along with a rapid socioeconomic development. The pace of poverty reduction in India has
been accelerating during the last ten years, but over 50 percent of the population in India is still

Conscience In I Hunt Killers, By Barry Lyga
One or more traumatic events can weaken one s conscience. Conscience is a feeling or voice in one s
mind that acts as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one s actions. Having a conscience allows
you to be able to bring yourself back to reality, to face the truth and take responsibility over your
actions. Traumatic experiences can weaken your conscience so it will no longer be able to keep you in
reality. Serial killers, or the criminally insane lack conscience and that s why they are able to harm one
or a bunch of people, without realizing how it affects others. I am interested in the minds of serial
killers who are cold hearted and have no remorse for what they have done. I believe that there is
specific reason deep down hidden behind their heartless persona that has caused them to act a violent
way. I take interest in the minds of the criminally insane because they tend to lose the ability to
function mentally due to a traumatic experience or experiences. ... Show more content on

Juice Vs. Green Tea
The data above proves both our hypothesis and prediction wrong. We hypothesized that the lemon
green tea would inhibit the growth of bacteria more than green tea. This is because along with having
catechins from the green tea, which interfere with bacterial membrane processes, the lemon green tea
had flavonoids from the lemon, which alter enzyme activity, and a low pH, inhibiting acid tolerance
and the formation of bacterial biofilm. In both of tests, the green tea solution created a larger zone of
inhibition than the green tea with lemon, which is why our hypothesis was wrong. The water was our
negative control, so it created no zone of inhibition and the beach was our positive control, so it
always had a zone of inhibition. From the both

Declaration of Sentiments
Declaration of Sentiments
The Declarations of sentiments was arguably the most significant document in
history for the advancement of women in the nineteenth century America. It was made
famous at the first Woman s Rights Convention, held in Seneca Falls, New York, in July
of 1848. Drafted by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the declaration outlined a series of
grievances resulting from the unfair treatment of women and proposed eleven resolutions
arguing that women had the right to equality in all aspects of their lives, including the
right to vote. Despite the declarations significance, however, it would be seventy two
years later that women finally won the right to vote.

resolutions received agreement endorsement, one by one, with a few amendments.
The only resolution that did not pass unanimously was the call for women s
authorization.
The Seneca Falls convention generated widespread ridicule and even hostility,
primarily from religious leaders and the press. An article in the Philadelphia Public
Ledger and Daily Transcript (September 1848) opined that, unlike the Seneca Falls
women, the women of Philadelphia were celebrated for discretion, modesty, and
unfeigned diffidence rather than standing out for woman s rights. After all, the writer
reasoned, A woman is nobody. A wife is everything. A pretty girl is equal to ten

Franklin D. Roosevelt s Impact On The New Deal
3.)Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected into office in 1932 and promised a new deal for Americans.
From a social welfare perspective he was viewed as the best president because he advanced social
welfare policies. Initial proposals were timid at this time and focused on balancing budgets, similar to
prior thinking. Once Roosevelt was elected into office, the activism of those suffering helped push this
period in a more progressive era. In 1933 Roosevelt initiated a variety of programs and policies during
the early New Deal, known as the alphabet agencies . Unfortunately, most of these programs were
short lived, but they helped society significantly in the New Deal era.
The Civilian Conservation Corps took young men and put them to work on outdoor projects, such as
reforestation and building trails and private parks. The Public Works Administration provided
employment for millions of people, primarily construction positions. Other programs that were

Power Of The President And Congress
Power of the President and Congress In the United States, a knowledgeable and reliable president
should bring a country into economic development and give citizens truth. It is easy to see how a
president affects foreign policy. The President has the highest power to decide how to manage,
control, and to solve problems. The president and Congress play important roles in running the
country regarding foreign policy making. Foreign policy is very significant because it provides peace
between countries without going to war. In order to develop the nation s economy and increase job
opportunities, effective foreign policies help to acquire more investments from foreign investors, and
it also affects the world s economy; therefore, foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The president can make decisions regarding, Executive agreement or trade agreement as long as they
are beneath treaty level with senate confirmation (Welch et al. 335). Even though the president has his
own power on hand, Congress still needs to check to see whether the president faithfully performs his
bills (Welch et al. 335). As a result, the president s treaties take effect only if they are passed by two
thirds of the Senate... (Welch et al. 335). Furthermore, veto power is another way to effect the
lawmaking of the president, but the only exception is that two thirds of each house can cancel the
president veto (Welch et al. 309). However, the president is advised that they should not abuse veto
power because president who use the veto too often may appear isolated or uncooperative or may
seem to be exercising negative leadership (Welch et al. 352). Therefore, the oversight of Congress is
so important to check and control whether the President practices making foreign policy appropriately.
Second, Congress should continue to assert its own role to oversee the president s work in controlling
budget making. Budgeting is one of the most important factors effecting national activities. For
example, the government cannot work without a budget; therefore, the Constitution gave Congress the
power to appropriate money and to account for its expenditure (Welch et al. 311). Congress also
oversees the federal budget by using the budget effectively. For example, it

Romeo And Juliet Reflection
Clark, Michael
Mrs.Binion
La11, Period 1
October 2, 2017
Romeo and Juliet, a story about pain and sorrow. A story with ups and downs. Is that why it entertains
us? Do we like to hear about pain and misery and the out come of it, good or bad? Authors have used
these stories since Shakespeare and Logic. Logic is an outlier because of the way he was raised. He
has seen people he loves die and raped in front of him, hated by his mother enough to where she tried
to kill him multiple times and how he got out of it. How he struggled without a high school diploma,
the people he met and how they changed his life.
In Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Maryland 7:36 A.M., where a biracial baby was born to a black
father and white mother ( Take it Back, Logic) Sir Robert Bryson Hall II was born. His mother was a
racist who would beat him and constantly talk down to him, even trying to kill him one time. His
father was out of the picture most of his life doing drugs that he got from his sons (Logic s Brothers)
who were Drug dealers and killers. He watched his sisters get raped and wasn t able to do anything. It
was going down hill until 14 year old Robert met his mentor Solomon. He showed Robert life outside
the ghetto and got him interested into rap, even encouraged him to perform.
When Logic turned 17 he got expelled from high school and moved out of his house. He had to
maintain two jobs to support him and his rap career. While not much he would perform for Pitbull and
Ludacris when they came in town. Trying to do both was working for a while but eventually he couldn
t keep up with rent and ended up being homeless He struggled to live and rap until he met his investor
His name is lenny. Lenny met up with Logic after a concert and told him that he believed in the vision
that was Logic and would fund him, he d give him a year to make it. So Robert did it, he released his
first album Young, Broke, Infamous . Because of how much recognition he made, he released the 1st
(out of a trilogy) Young Sinatra. Later he d release the 2nd and 3rd Young Sinatras. Lil Dicky is a
rapper who jokes when he raps. While he can make a good beat and a sick rap it s not the same as a
story which makes the difference in a good rapper.

U.s. Government s Government
Throughout history, the united states government had a good reputation with their people, but lately it
has been fading away. The united states government has not live up to their reputation and trust with
their citizens due to recent events. Now, the government feels like it has become more corrupt, and
unfair towards their citizens. Many American citizens do not trust their government because of what
the government stands for. For many of us, the government is all about power and money, so it s hard
for the common man to see the government s point of view. In addition, due to recent and past events,
is nearly impossible for the American government to restore their trust with the people. The critical

Even tough Obamacare hurt mainly the middle class, everyone was affected by it. the shutdown of
2013 was enough proof for the people to show the reality of why the government does not work
together. the government has to do whats best for the country and not what is best for them. what is
the point of the government if they are not helping their citizens. what s the point of having a
government many might asked. The point of a government is government seeks to protect its citizens,
it faces the challenge of doing so in ways that are true to the key American political values of liberty,
equality, and democracy We all know that the government has to be neutral towards their people , but
they seem like they only care what s best for the government than for the nation. Also, many believe
that the government is just playing games with the nation s future and that s no fair for the people.
The public trust in government has declined over the years, and now the people think they can do little
to influence the government actions. According to the book We the people by Benjamin Ginsberg, in
2013 only 19 percent of americans reported trusting the government with their decisions in
Washington. On the contrary, compare to 1960s and 1970s americans had a lot of more respect and

The Song Of Roland Poem Analysis
The Song of Roland by Dorothy L. Sayers is about a poetic battle between two religions and two
nations. King Charlemagne s army is at war with the Muslim kingdom in Spain called Saragossa ruled
by King Marsilla. King Charlemagne is determined to have the people of Saragossa submit to his laws
and rulings. King Charlemagne is the king of the Franks and a devoted Christian. His influence as a
Christian militant in the Western part of Mediterranean gave him a lot of power to expand the
Kingdom of the Franks. Not only was King Charles endured by the Pope, he was also considered a
successful conquered. He was the surrounded by his great warrior nobles who helped him in his
kingdom expansion. Roland was his dear nephew and a very skillful warrior who was accompanied by
his best friend Oliver.
As the poem continues, King Marsilla is afraid as to what could happen if King Charles takes over his
kingdom. In fear, King Marsilla promises King Charles to send great possession and gifts in exchange
for the Franks to leave Saragossa alone. King Charles and the rest of his associates accept his peace
offering. The tipping point in the poem is when Roland nominates his step father Ganelon to delivered
the message to King Marsilla. However, Ganelon full of envy and resentment against his step son uses
this opportunity to betray his step son and seek revenge. Genelon believed that Roland was eager to
choose him, so that he could die in the hands of the enemy. With the intension to directly

Two Tragic Events In American History
In American history two tragic events have become iconic in American society. These events are the
attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the attacks against America on September 11, 2001. On December
7, 1941, the American naval base Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese empire. On 9/11 the
World Trade Center was attacked by Islamic men. These men hijacked two planes and crashed the
planes into the World Trade Center in New York. A third plane was hijacked and crashed into the
Pentagon in Washington DC. A fourth plane crashed into a field southeast of Pittsburgh due to
resistance from the passengers and crew. The American presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and George
W. Bush gave speeches. The speeches were designed to inform and to reassure the American people.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the president at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, gave a speech to Congress

Essay about Andrew Jackson, an Ideal President for America
Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States of America, can be debated as either a good
president or bad president. But if one were to weigh out the positives and negatives of Andrew
Jackson s presidency, one would realize that his positives outweigh his negatives for a variety of
historic facts. Andrew Jackson was a good president because he represented the majority of America s
people by being a common, prevented a civil war when South Carolina threatened to secede from the
nation, and because he technically found or instigated the two major parties used in America today

Jackson is very important because he created or instigated the two dominant political parties we use
today (democratic and republican). The beliefs in these parties switched several times in history but
initially Jackson was a democrat. The major beliefs in democrats in the 1820s 1850s were the beliefs
in a small national government, pro states rights, and a strict interpretation of the constitution. The
republicans (initially known as the Whigs) essentially opposed all of Jackson s beliefs and therefore
had more or less the complete opposite beliefs of the democrats. By starting these two political parties,
he started the way people would categorize political candidates throughout the rest of American
history. There are many who are against Andrew Jackson because he is a hypocrite. An example of
this is how Jackson states he is against slavery but still owned slaves. One has to understand that
America was founded on hypocrisy. Essentially what Jackson is trying to do is to make compromises
on situations so he can support both sides of an argument to represent as many people as possible.
Conclusively Jackson was a great president because he represented the people of America by being a
common man, overcame huge obstacles such as keeping South Carolina from seceding, and by
forming the two most popular political parties used in America today, the Democrats and the
Republicans. Those who argue that Jackson was a bad president simply

Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of GnRH, LH and FSH through negative feedback to hypothalamic
pituitary gonadal axis. Levonorgestrel inhibits secretion of LH and FSH from anterior pituitary and
these indirectly causes a delay in follicle development. Decreased level of LH also lead to delay or
inhibition of LH surge, which then inhibits ovulation. According to Danielsson (2010), when LNG
was administrated at two to three days before LH surge, the LH peak was inhibited or delayed.
However, when LNG was provided one day before or on the day of LH surge, it failed to inhibit
ovulation.
Levonorgestrel has a high level of efficacy to prevent pregnancy as an emergency contraceptive (EC).
It is also relatively safe to use and well tolerated. It is relatively cheaper than other oral contraceptive.
In addition, for women over 16 years old, certain brand of Levonorgestrel can also be obtained
without a prescription from pharmacies. However, Levonorgestrel only effective if taken within 72
hours of unprotected intercourse. It is also only effective before LH level start to rise in follicular

Essay On Schizoid Personality Disorder
On the other hand, people with Schizotypal Personality Disorder are characterized by a pervasive

Personal Statement On Self Harm
Self harm patients are at a risk for suicide whether this is an intended outcome or a result of self harm
gone wrong. 25% of people who commit suicide will have been seen in a hospital setting for a self
harm injury in the past 12 months (Emerson, 2010). As well, 72% of suicide victims under the age of
25 have had a history or self harm behavior (as sited in Cook, Clency, Sanderson, 2004). These statists
provide a strong argument for the importance of vigilance and ongoing monitoring when providing
care for clients who display self harm behavior. This paper will argue the importance for close
monitoring when caring for self harm but not necessarily the prevention of self harm itself. Vigilance
and monitoring are important However there is evidence that complete preventions is not necessarily
the best approach to self harm (Duffin, 2006).
The Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders fifth edition (DSM 5) uses the term non
suicidal self injury. Self injury is defined as intentional self inflicted damage to the surface of his or
her body of a sort likely to induce bleeding, bruising, or pain, with the expectation that the injury will
lead to only minor or moderate physical harm (American psychiatric Association, 2013,p803). There
must be an absence of suicidal intent; this is either stated by the patient, or determined by the fact that
the method of harm is not likely to result in death. Although often misunderstood and seen as an

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Speech President, Ronald W. Reagan, in his speech, Explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger Address to the Nation, Reagan expresses the grief and loss due to the tragedy that has occurred to the Challenger. Regan s purpose was to acknowledge the terrible explosion of the Challenger, witnessed by majority of the people including children and killed all seven crew members: Michael Smith, Dick, Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa MC Auliffe; although despite such horrible incident, Regan had insisted that the nation should continue the space program. He adopts a empathetic and encouraging tone in order to show his consideration to the victimized families and to promote the continuation of the space program as a sign of moving forward. Therefore, in Reagan s speech, he conveyed his empathy and the will to go on with the use of rhetorical devices such as ethos, pathos, allusion, and anaphora. Reagan had commenced his speech with the use of Pathos, The day Reagan had given his speech, he proclaimed that it was a day of mourning and remembering (1). Regan has put into recognition of the tragedy that recently took place, which was the explosion of the Challenger. Not only that the families of the astronauts were victimized are experiencing the pain, but the whole nation as a whole for it was a national loss. The country has lost a group of people in order to find new discoveries for their country due to a failure of a shuttle. Thus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Interracial Marriage Thesis Statement Thesis Statement: Race and religion do not matter in today s society because since the mid 1900 s the world has evolved. Interracial relationships are becoming more common and are bringing diversity into society. As a result, this shows that people are becoming more accepting to other races/religions and support systems are available to interracial couples. Body Paragraph #1 Topic Sentence: Racial diversity in marriages today is becoming more common and couples are more open minded and accepting to the fact that racial differences does not matter in a relationship. Supporting Evidence #1: According to Jayson (2011), Research has found young adults today have more friends of diverse racial backgrounds than past generations and are more willing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, there are support groups for interfaith couples to learn about their partner s faith along with their own. Supporting Evidence #1: An increasing number of families are relieved to have an organization to turn to such as IFFP, where both spouses faith s are regarded equally and neither spouse feels pressured to give their faith (Hanes, 2014) Explanation: The Interfaith Family Project (IFFP) is one of the largest organizations in the country that sets interfaith religious curriculum for Sunday schools. And they have inspired hundreds of families to pursue a joint intentional interfaith relationship. In addition, this organization gives people in interfaith relationships the chance to see the positive outlook on both religions. Supporting Evidence #2: In Campbell s book along with co author Robert Putnam the American phenomenon was explained that individuals felt more compassionate to others religions based on the more exposure they had to it. In addition, they said when Americans add other religions to their social networks their understanding and tolerance increased which lead to the unique combinations of more religious devotion and diversity in the U.S (Hanes, ... • 4. Murder Conventions In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is never caught, and usually in crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later in the film the song comes on the radio, and when the detectives check outside, it has started raining. They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated. Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and ... • 5. Mystery Mixture Lab Report Someone hands you a container of a mysterious white mixture, and they give you the task to figure out what it is. What would you do to solve the problem at hand? Many scientists might find physical and chemical properties to figure it out. The scientists might look for, odor change, temperature change, fizzing, and bubbling for chemical properties. They also inspect the mixtures for physical properties before a chemical reaction occurs, including shape, size, color, texture, and smell. The Eighth grade thinks that the mystery mixture is C6H8O7(Citric Acid) and NaHCO3(Baking Soda). The class believes that it is C6H8O7 and NaHCO3 because of their physical and chemical properties. The mystery mixture has some chunky parts, along with some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They ruled this combination out by comparing its physical and chemical properties to those of the mystery mixture. One of the differences between the mystery mixture and the mixture of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 is during the chemical reaction. During the reaction of the mystery mixture the bubbles and only about one centimeter high. During the reaction of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3, the bubbles were approximately one inch tall. Another difference during the chemical reaction was the time that the two mixtures fizzed. The mystery mixture fizzed for about 3 minutes and 14 seconds. The combination of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 fizzed for approximately 5 minutes and 47 seconds. Thirdly, the eighth grade scientists decided to eliminate MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 as a possibility to be the mystery mixture because during the reaction the mystery mixture s temperature was 16.5oC at the end of the reaction. While the combination of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 ended up at 17.6oC. Finally, the scientist knew that they could rule out the mixture of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 is because they noticed that the chunks in the mystery mixture were not shiny, but very dull, and the lumps in the mix of MgSO4, C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 ... • 6. Compassion In The Holocaust Compassion is defined as sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. In this case the idea of compassion could have changed the history of the world. The Holocaust was the killing of millions of Jews and other people by the Nazi s during World War 2.This was truly based upon hatred of a religous group, and wouldn t be possible without Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany. Until a certain point no one was showing compassion for the people being terrorized by this tyrant. It is unknown to historians that during this time period the people didn t know what was happening, or they didn t want to believe what was happening. With that being said, could compassion have been a key factor in stopping the Holocaust earlier than it already was? During the early stages of the Holocaust a boat of refugees escaped Nazi Germany and fled to the United States. As they arrived the U.S immediately told the boat to return to Germany. How could my country be so cold blooded? They sent them back to be brutally murdered or sent to concentration camps. The lack of compassion at the beginning of the Holocaust was clearly shown here. This was a chance to save hundreds of people from the Nazi s. The U.S wasn t able to accept what was occurring on the other half of the world. Which lead them to showing no compassion for the refugees leading to even more casualties during this terrifying time period. The times that compassion has ever effected me the most when I was showing it towards others.Helping people out of some of their most depressing times just makes me feel even better about myself. It has shown me that sometimes you must put people s feelings and beliefs before your own. • 7. Imperial System Of Han China During The Yongzheng Period... Autocracy in Qing China During The Yongzheng Period In Jonathan D. Spence s book, Treason By The Book, we are introduced to Qing China during the rule of the Yongzheng Emperor who, during his reign, must investigate a scandal involving dissident, rogue scholars who threaten the Chinese imperial system. The imperial system revolves entirely around the emperor who must rule benevolently, and as an autocrat. As is typical of an autocrat, the Emperor rules by divine right, and as a result has no checks on his power by law or citizenry, contains some elements of arbitrariness such as cronyism, nepotism and overruling officials based on what comes down to emotion, and has a vast bureaucracy capable of tracking down and interrogating anyone accused of being a dissident, including other officials. Therefore, despite Emperor Yongzheng s noble attitudes and ideas, evidence within Treason By The Book shows that Yongzheng is unequivocally an autocrat, because he fits all the previously listed criteria. When looking at what made Emperor Yongzheng an autocrat, it s important to look at the tactics implemented by the emperor to ensure cooperation and to crack down on any resistance or potential plots against him. During the first few pages of Treason By The Book, we are introduced to first instance of the very efficient and meticulous world of bureaucratic spy campaigns and information gathering authorities when the Emperor sends an official from the Ministry of Punishments to gather ... • 10. The For Efficient Distribution Of The European Commission... 1) Briefly summarise the main points of the case Verboven s (2009) discusses vertical restraints, concluding their necessity for efficient distribution, discussing how the European Commission has altered its interpretation of Article 81 overtime. Three types of restraint are highlighted: Selective distribution, Exclusive distribution and Exclusive dealing, and that restraint adoption depended on current levels of regulation. Verboven (2009) explains that vertical restraints became subjected to EU Competition Laws and due to cumulative anti competitive effects were reformed, becoming stricter. By 2002, new block exemptions aimed to increase flexibility on acceptable agreements and that only Selective or Exclusive distribution can be applied, not both. Black clauses including Retail Price Maintenance (RPM) and passive selling outside of territories were listed. Nevertheless, post 2002 manufacturers were now allowed to make certain vertical agreements (excluding black clauses), assuring their market share was within the newly defined thresholds (in general 30%). Overall, Verboven (2009) emphasised three main issues. Firstly, double marginalisation occurring when both manufacturer and dealer apply separate profit incentivised mark ups. Secondly, vertical externalities result in dealers having no incentive to provide sale and after sale services, as the dealer ultimately provides the manufacturer with increased profits. Finally, competing dealerships may freeride on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thucydides explains that the plague not only harshly affected men s physical bodies, but also their actions. People began to become fearful of becoming infected, which caused them to avoid visiting friends and family members who were afflicted with the disease. Furthermore, the plague also negatively affected the character of the Athenian people. The intense fear of having the disease even motivated men to become indifferent to every rule of religion or of law : individuals began to act self indulgently because they believed that they would not be alive long enough to be brought to trial or punished. ... • 12. Who Is Weng In The River s Song Becoming good at a skill for most people takes many steps, and for some those steps aren t exactly alike. The character Weng, in Suchen Christine Lim s novel The River s Song, exemplifies this. The novel often switches perspectives between main characters, Ping and Weng, and moves back and forth through time. Largely based around music, this novel follows both characters through where their musical journey takes them. Pings journey takes her to America to teach music, separating her from Weng for much of their adult lives. The novel is set in Singapore for much of the story, and centers around the cleaning up of their river there, where many people work and live, including Weng. After nine months in prison, he is given a chance to use his talents and learn to become a well known musician. Weng describes his time there to Ping and what he had to go through: The conservatory accepted me as a fee paying student. Even then, life was hard. We had to be up at five every day, it was practice, practice and more practice...The Training regimen was very, very tough, the professors were top notch. If it weren t for Professor Mah Shi fei, I would ve quit (Suchen 195). This step here is where Weng finally transitioned into the musician he is meant to be. Music essentially became his life for awhile people who become good at anything, at some point dedicated every waking moment to it. All the previous steps in his life led up to this point. Chong Suk s early influence to work towards discipline allowed him the ability to stick through all those long hours at school. Weng could not have made it through that schooling without his father drilling it into him at an early age. His step with Ping gave him insight on how to play with others and deal with others. Not much is mention on the school other than that passage but, it seems reasonable to conclude that he would have to teach others in the school and learn other things from that teaching. All this allowed him to achieve a great deal in the music community. This is apparent by how even ping living in America had heard about him: I ve kept in touch with the Singapore music scene as part of my professional interest, and the name of the orchestra s principal flautist and dizi player, well known in Asian music circles, has not escaped my notice. In fact, I ve been quietly tracking his rise to fame (Suchen 153). Ultimately through these steps he achieved what he dreamed of and what was meant for him. He gathered praise for his playing and Weng s fame grew as well, all traits of a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Importance Of Coral Reefs Coral reefs are underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium carbonate that is secreted by corals. They are usually built by colonies of tiny animals that are in marine water containing some nutrients (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex and a varied ecosystem. In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and coastal protection. Globally, an estimated 99 million under five year olds were underweight in 2012, with the low and middle income countries of Asia accounting for more than 70 percent of these undernourished children (WHO, 2012a). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is important that the issues of nutritional double burden in many developing countries need to be addressed in the context of socioeconomic status. This could help identify the complex interplay of social, economic, and political determinants of undernutrition and overnutrition. Many developing countries are growing economically, and it can be expected that the prevalence of undernutrition would decrease and obesity would become a problem among wealthy and privileged classes. However, research has shown that obesity and associated non communicable diseases(NCDs) are increasingly affecting all sectors of society, and the poor or disadvantaged are more likely to be vulnerable to these health hazards (Khandelwal et al., 2013). Also, it can be seen that many developing countries are still incapable of dealing with these health challenges of nutritional double burden, therefore in order to minimize adverse nutritional outcomes, there need to be a reconsideration of current policies and further understanding of these health challenges. Prevalence and consequences of nutritional conditions in India India is one of the developing countries which are experiencing multiple transitions in its nutritional pattern along with a rapid socioeconomic development. Conscience is a feeling or voice in one s mind that acts as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one s actions. Having a conscience allows you to be able to bring yourself back to reality, to face the truth and take responsibility over your actions. Traumatic experiences can weaken your conscience so it will no longer be able to keep you in reality. Serial killers, or the criminally insane lack conscience and that s why they are able to harm one or a bunch of people, without realizing how it affects others. I am interested in the minds of serial killers who are cold hearted and have no remorse for what they have done. This is because along with having catechins from the green tea, which interfere with bacterial membrane processes, the lemon green tea had flavonoids from the lemon, which alter enzyme activity, and a low pH, inhibiting acid tolerance and the formation of bacterial biofilm. In both of tests, the green tea solution created a larger zone of inhibition than the green tea with lemon, which is why our hypothesis was wrong. In Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Maryland 7:36 A.M., where a biracial baby was born to a black father and white mother ( Take it Back, Logic) Sir Robert Bryson Hall II was born. His mother was a racist who would beat him and constantly talk down to him, even trying to kill him one time. His father was out of the picture most of his life doing drugs that he got from his sons (Logic s Brothers) who were Drug dealers and killers. He watched his sisters get raped and wasn t able to do anything. It was going down hill until 14 year old Robert met his mentor Solomon. He showed Robert life outside the ghetto and got him interested into rap, even encouraged him to perform. When Logic turned 17 he got expelled from high school and moved out of his house. He had to maintain two jobs to support him and his rap career. While not much he would perform for Pitbull and Ludacris when they came in town. Trying to do both was working for a while but eventually he couldn t keep up with rent and ended up being homeless He struggled to live and rap until he met his investor His name is lenny. • 39. Personal Statement On Self Harm Self harm patients are at a risk for suicide whether this is an intended outcome or a result of self harm gone wrong. 25% of people who commit suicide will have been seen in a hospital setting for a self harm injury in the past 12 months (Emerson, 2010). As well, 72% of suicide victims under the age of 25 have had a history or self harm behavior (as sited in Cook, Clency, Sanderson, 2004). These statists provide a strong argument for the importance of vigilance and ongoing monitoring when providing care for clients who display self harm behavior. This paper will argue the importance for close monitoring when caring for self harm but not necessarily the prevention of self harm itself. Vigilance and monitoring are important However there is evidence that complete preventions is not necessarily the best approach to self harm (Duffin, 2006). There must be an absence of suicidal intent; this is either stated by the patient, or determined by the fact that the method of harm is not likely to result in death.
