Genetic Diversity In America
Genetic diversity is the variation of heritable characteristics in genetic makeup present in a population
of the same species i.e. variation in the nucleotides, genes, chromosomes, or whole genomes of
organisms. The species with greater genetic diversity has a chance of long time survival. Knowledge
of diversity in a germplasm is very important for the improvement of crop plants through breeding
program (Hallauer and Miranda Filho 1988). Assessment of genetic diversity is essential to understand
the relationship among and within the landraces, as well as their genetic structure. It is also valuable
for setting priorities for genetic conservation, parental selection and as a source of favorable traits.
(Ferriol, Pico et al. 2004) analysed 47 accessions of C. moschata featuring the morphological
characters which revealed considerable variability, comparable to that found in different C. moschata
centers of diversity. Molecular analysis through AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism)
markers which analyze neutral genetic diversity and SRAP (sequence related amplified
polymorphism) markers, which amplify gene regions both showed a genetic diversity in accordance
with the morphological variability. With both markers clustered the genotypes according to their
geographical origin: Central America, South America, and Spain, which suggested the existence of
two independent domestications in both American areas, and/or introgressions from related species. ...

Advantages Of Data Compression
1. INTRODUCTION
COMPRESSION
What is compression?
Data compression is the method of reducing the number of bits to store or transmit the data. It reduces
the size of data to save storage space or speed transmission. Cost is aldo decreased for storage and
network bandwidth. Compression is performed by a program that uses an algorithm on how to shrink
the size of the data.
For data transmission, compression can be performed on the data content or on the entire transmission
unit.. When information is sent or received via the Internet, large files, either singly or with others as
part of an archive file, may be transmitted in a .ZIP, gzip or other compressed format.
Text compression can be as simple as removing all unwanted characters, inserting a single repeat ...

After all this we come to the question about why do we need compression? What is the need? And in
what way will it benefit us? Data compression is needed because it allows the data to be stored
without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. Data compression uses some algorithms to reduce
the amount of actual space that the data would take up.
The way the algorithm is compressed will determine how much data is compressed.. The compressed
data will be large if the amount of data is of extremely large size. Whereas compressed data will take
up very small space if the size of the data to be compressed is very small. [4]
Determining the amount of space that the data will take up is dependent on the algorithm that is used
to compress the data. If the algorithm is used properly and formatted specifically for the data, the data
can take up nearly no space. If a generalized algorithm is used, the data may not fit into a compressed
area. The algorithm is the determining factor on how well the data will compress, how much space it
will take up and how much of the data will be available after compression.[4]
Various Compression Techniques
The most basic compression techniques are

Female Characters Of The Novel Dracula
Throughout the Victorian period in which Dracula was written, there was great concern over the roles
of women, and the place they held in society. The two central female characters in Dracula are Mina
Murray, later Mina Harker, and Lucy Westenra, though arguably Dracula s three daughters also hold a
strong place in terms of female characters in the novel also.
One of the main depictions of women in the novel is that are either both sexually promiscuous and
overtly sexual, or they are pure and chaste. In Victorian society, you were either a virgin or a married
woman, if women were neither then they were not of much moral worth to society. Much like this
Victorian ideal, the overtly promiscuous and sexual females of Dracula are depicted as evil and
monstrous, while the pure and chaste women are displayed as strong and heroic.
The character of Mina Murray, whom starts the novel as a young school headmistress that is engaged
to one of the novel s narrators, Jonathan Harker. Throughout the novel, Mina is depicted as the ideal
Victorian woman. Take what Dr. Van Helsing says of Mina in chapter fourteen,
She is one of God s women, fashioned by His own hand to show us men and other women that there is
a heaven where we can enter, and that its light can be here on earth. So true, so sweet, so noble, so
little an egoist... (Stoker 2002: 198)
Here, Van Helsing describes Mina as in possessions of such virtue that she is the epitome of what God
intends women to be. He associates Mina

Internal Domain Name System for Company
Internal Domain Name System for Company Alpha Introduction The DNS is a vital Internet
component providing mechanisms for resolving host names into IP addresses and vice versa. In
addition, DNS supports other Internet directories concerning DNS name servers and mail exchangers
among others (Garfinkel Spafford, 1997). Despite being a universally accepted and widely used
system, insecure protocols and lack of authentication among other factors within the DNS threaten
proper functionality of the DNS. Moreover, the accuracy of the information contained within the DNS
is vital to many aspects of IP based communications. Domain Model for the Organization The domain
appropriate for this organization is the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND). This domain name is
selected since it compatible with most operating systems including UNIX; it is also used by most
Internet Service Providers (Stevens, 1990). In addition, BIND is recommended for the firm since its
configuration files are easier to maintain than other server DNSs such as Sendmail (Terry, Painter,
Riggle, Zhou, 1984). Using this DNS, cache only name servers are easily placed strategically within
the internal network to remove unwanted traffic and expensive WAN links. Moreover, BIND supports
DNS SEC, TSIG IPv4 among other DNS protocol enhancements. Given the popularity of BIND, it is
often targeted by hackers. Therefore, limiting zone transfers to slave name servers and limiting
transfer in the zone can reduce the

Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw Essay
Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, describes Shaw s viewpoint on social class distinctions in the
1900s by describing characters of the upper, middle, and lower classes in the play. Through the
characters descriptions, language, and actions, the distinction between classes becomes very
prominent. Similarly, Galileo, by Bertolt Brecht, describes Brecht s take on the social class structure
during Galileo s time and how the differences between classes affected Galileo s opportunity to do
scientific research. Both plays depict a society ruled by the upper class and a lack of coherence among
the upper, middle, and lower classes that leads to eventual conflict. In both Pygmalion and Galileo, the
authors highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the different social classes in order to critique
how the relationships between people from different classes affect their interactions with each other.
The different classes in both plays had their advantages and disadvantages; however, some classes had
more benefits than others. In Pygmalion, the upper class was the most privileged money wise. Henry
Higgins was an upper class educated man who had quite a reputation and enough money to take on the
challenge of transforming Eliza, a lower class woman, into an upper class citizen. As a member of the
upper class, Higgins had access to chocolates, and taxis, and gold, and diamonds that members of the
lower class didn t necessarily have (Shaw 19). These objects are associated with

Ticket Scalping Case
1. a. The article suggest that beef and chicken are substitutes; as the price of beef increases the price of
chicken will decreases, as its quantity demanded rises due to the rise in the price of beef. Supply and
demand both decrease, causing price of beef to rise and quantity traded to fall, therefore the
equilibrium quantity traded decreases, and price rises. The demand of beef has decreased, causing an
increase of demand for chicken, a substitute which saw a decrease in price due to an increase in price
of beef. Therefore the equilibrium price and quantity traded both increase in the chicken market. 2. a.
Ticket scalping is buying tickets for an event at the retail price, and then reselling them at an inflated
price, which is above the official ticket price. Ticket scalpers can sell tickets at well above the official
ticket price, because they buy tickets for events that will sell out and people are desperate to attend the
events, so they are willing to pay more than the official price, because the event is sold out and the
only way they are able to attend is if they buy these high priced tickets. The demand for the tickets is
often relatively inelastic, because there are no substitutes for tickets, meaning there is no cheaper
option, and supply is limited so consumers have to pay high prices for tickets. The demand for tickets
increases greatly, but the supply remains unchanged. This increases the equilibrium price and the
quantity traded

Zouave Soldiers In The Civil War Essay
To understand what role the Zouave Soldier played in the civil war first you must know who the
original soldiers were. The french Zouave soldier was a light infantry unit serving in the French army
between 1831 and 1962. They were mostly identified by their short open fronted jackets, baggy
trousers, and often sashes and oriental head gear. They gained members by accepting mostly
volunteers. Even though they share their french counterpart s name ,surprisingly in the civil war, they
weren t french they were made mostly of union and confederate soldiers. They too were a light
infantry unit and adapted the same African style of clothing. The Union used them more with 70
volunteers Zouave regiments with the Confederates only using 25 companies. ... Show more content

They moved at a faster pace than other soldiers, rather than marching unhurriedly. When reloading
their rifles they would lay on their backs rather than standing to do so. They would roll prone and
sometimes rose on one knee to fire back at enemies. This caused a Zouave regiment to be a force to be
reckoned with on the battlefield. The most notable Union Zouave regiment was from New York
named the 14th Brooklyn or more famously named Red Legged Devils . They received this name
during the first battle of bull run where they would repeatedly charge up Henry House Hill, and
Confederate General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson yelled to his men, Hold On Boys! Here come those
red legged devils again! Union regiments that showed great skill and drill would be awarded with
Zouave outfits. On the battlefield the Zouave outfit would be a testimony to the how skilled you were.
The Zouave uniform was a quite elaborate uniform with a navy blue jacket and bright red pants which
made them stand out frome the standard soldier. Some Zouave regiments wore a fez with a colored
tassel and turban, a tight fitting short jacket , a wide 10 foot long sash, baggy pantaloons, white

A Good Relationship With My Father
The first time my father yelled at me I was six years old. I mean really raised his voice. My father had
never used that kind of a tone with me before so naturally I was equally surprised as scared. As I grew
older and connected events I realized my father had been upset, not because I was out of bed late at
night, but because my mother had been discussing their separation that night. Up until the age of six I
had an ideal relationship with my father, I suppose as normal as any other six year old child could
have with their parents. I won t try to argue that in order to have a good relationship with another
human you have to live in the same house as they do or even in the same state or country, but the
farther you are the more difficult it will be to obtain an ideal relationship or connection with that
person. A good relationship can be defined in multiple ways and each person has their own take on it. I
believe that to truly have a good, grounded, relationship with someone you need to be able to trust that
person, enjoy their company, and accept the person for who they are. In a genuine relationship two
people should be able to trust each other, to not have any doubt in the other person. Trust is the key
component to a healthy relationship and it provides a sense of safety which allows for higher levels of
intimacy (Colleen Ekback). Depending on who the other person is, may it be a parent, sibling, another
relative or a significant other, the doubtfulness will differ. It

Book Analysis Of Olaudah Equiano
Reading Response 2: the child Olaudah Equiano becoming the man slave Gustavas Vasa.
Olaudah Equiano was a righteous man who was stolen from his home as a child, and made into a
slave. Through Equiano s time as a slave he endured many hardships and made many friends who he
would never see again due to death, or the slave trade. Equiano made a memoir to show readers what
it was like to be a slave, and to show his hardship through his own eyes without showing himself as
someone who is looking for compassion or compensation of any kind. I believe Equiano just had a
story to tell to let out all of the misery, and chaos he had held in for many years. This reading response
is focused on Equiano s transition from having a normal life to becoming a slave.
Olaudah Equiano was born in Essaka in 1745 in Nigeria. Equiano s father was a chief in his village, so
the life of Equiano as a kid was comforting and satisfying. The slave trade in Guinea spread all
through Nigeria s coast. Equiano said that part of Africa, known by the name of Guinea, to which the
trade for slaves is carried on, extends along the coast above 3400 miles, from Senegal to Angola, and
includes a variety of kingdoms . (Equiano, p.356) Due to the high frequency of slave trade around
Equiano s village, while the adults would tend to their crops, instead of playing games Equiano and
other children would keep watch for men who would sneak into their village and kidnap children for
the slave trade. The men who would kidnap

The Diet Coke And Mentos Experiment
An experiment that was made around the 1980s, but came back with a sensational hit in 2005
(Spangler). It s all across the internet and all across America in science classrooms. An experiment
that will make people run from being hit. A sticky, sweet soda geyser all made from Diet Coke and
Mentos. The Diet Coke and Mentos experiment has been around for awhile and many people have
started to question how this experiment works. A process called nucleation has a big role. Nucleation
is when a gas in the Diet Coke called carbon dioxide clings to the Mentos. The little bubbles that form
in the soda are from the carbon dioxide (Hiskey). The carbon dioxide is already pumped into the
bottles at high pressures in the factories, so the carbon dioxide ... Show more content on

Less dense Mentos drop slower which would be the same as putting in Mentos at a slow pace. An
experiment done with crushed Mentos proved this in 2012 (Buddies). The reason why it does not
produce a high geyser or help with the experiment is how quick the reaction acts. The bubbles don t
form quick enough to rise up, as it would with dropping Mentos in fast. The reason why Mentos with
their surface rubbed off would not work is because the Mentos provide the rough surface to help break
the bonds more easily

Attending An Informational Protest Here At Siena College
For this event paper, I decided to attend an informational protest here at Siena College. To bring
awareness to domestic violence in our society, Siena College hosted the One Billion Rising
Revolution in the Sarazen Student Union on February 12th, 2016. One Billion Rising is one of the
biggest revolutions intended to end violence against women in the world. Many people around the
world come together to express their opinions, dance, and rise up against domestic violence. At this
event many different dance teams at Siena College were asked to send ten of their dancers to this
event to perform. Out of twenty girls on the team, I volunteered to learn a short dance and perform it
for a good cause. The One Billion Rising Revolution connects to the theme Diversity, and the article
Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway? by Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs because
they prove that diversity is important when bringing awareness to a certain cause, because it helps
promote worldliness to understand the multiple perspectives and experiences of different kinds of
people
I chose to go to this event because I was interested in learning about domestic violence. This is a topic
I ve learned a little about in high school, but I ve never had the opportunity to learn about it first hand
from an professional speaker. At this event, Siena invited a speaker to come and talk about the issue of
domestic violence against women around the world. After her thirty minute presentation,

Elements Of The Most Dangerous Game And The Most Dangerous...
The stories The Most Dangerous Game and The Gift of the Magi are both well written and vivid
stories. The Most Dangerous Game is about a hunter who becomes hunted, and The Gift of the Magi
is about a married couple trying to find each other gifts for christmas. Both stories have literary
elements that move the story along, but in The Most Dangerous Game the elements are used more
effectively. In the story, The Most Dangerous Game, two hunters, Whitney and Rainsford, sail past an
island with a bad reputation among sailors. Rainsford falls out and swims to shore. A man named
Zaroff takes him in for dinner. It turns out that he is a hunter like Rainsford, but his method of hunting
is different. Rainsford ends up being hunted by Zaroff and he comes to a very difficult choice. He
decides to risk it and jump off a cliff to swim back to shore. The story ends when Rainsford finds his
way back and challenges Zaroff. This story portrays many literary elements. One of them is
forshadowing. There are two ways that the author, Richard Connell, uses this technique. First off,
Whitney says, The world is made up of two classes. The hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I
are hunters. This foreshadows when Rainsford is going to be in the position of the huntee. Second, he
foreshadows the eerie island. The place has a reputation a bad one. says Whitney. Later on, the island
has great importance in the story. Another element Connell uses is situational irony. He uses it when

The Four Concepts Of Symbolic Interactionism
Symbolic interactions are a major part of how we socialize with others. It happens every day without
us even realizing it. There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic interactions, but
to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four concepts of social
interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing were; definition of
situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often interrelate as they all are a
part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied to two different social
settings which were the bar and mass at the Catholic church. The concepts will be defined and
reviewed in the order above.
When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting
encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting. For
example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to walk through
the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check the age to allow the
person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting at tables in groups of
three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the bar. On the right side of
the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each pool table. As I continued to
the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting.

Evil Revivalists And Evil Sceptics
In philosophy, there are two groups of people who debate the concept of evil, Evil Revivalists and Evil
Sceptics. Evil Revivalists are all about evil being a useful term in today s society. They argue the word
evil is the only concept we can use for the worst of the worst. They also say that only by facing the
evil in our lives can we prevent it. This theory helps society to focus our limited energy and resources
when describing evil and helps us to respond better to evil. The Evil Sceptics on the other hand think
evil is concept that is too extreme and only hinders our thinking about bad events. They argue that evil
is often associated with the supernatural and lacks explanatory power. They also say that it is way too

Gun Control In The Tao Te Ching
The Tao Te Ching outlines that if people value great individuals, they become weak. Also, if people
place high value on possessions, they start to steal. The Tao Te Ching also articulates that the master
leads by filling the hearts of people, weakening their ambitions and toughening their determination
(Lao tzu 3). The master assists individuals to lose their knowledge and desires and creates
misperception in people who believe they possess knowledge. This concept can be applied in a
political conflict in the contemporary world. It is evident that individuals have overvalued possessions.
Overvaluing possessions has led to the emergence of various problems that have caused political
conflict.
According to Tao Te Ching, people start stealing when they place too much value in possessions. For
example, the gun control debate in the United States has raged on for several years. On the one hand,
the government argues that individuals should have rights over their guns to reduce gun violence.
There have been numerous cases of mass shootings in the recent past. These incidents are attributed to
the high number of guns accessible even to children and mentally challenged individual. The

Ming and Qing Dynasties New Developments in Medical Theory Between the Ming and Qing
Dynasties (1368 1840) China underwent a series of significant transitions, most notably from feudal
society (Ming dynasty) to a form of commodity based economy (latter part of the Qing dynasty) as the
result of widespread restructuring of the central and local governments. Taxes were levied, land was

the way for commercial trade to flourish.

The Extinction Of The Bison
Imagine walking in your backyard and seeing a dangerous buffalo that is twice the size as a cow
eating your grass. That would be terrifying to witness, but that scene would most likely not happen in
today s world because the bison were almost driven to extinction during the 19th and 20th century.
The Indians needed buffalo for their primary food source, so they would hunt bison. Then, Euro
Americans came along and disrupted the system for the Indians. There is an argument for who is to
blame for the near extinction of the bison. Some believe the blame all falls on the Indians as they over
hunted. Others may feel that the blame goes on the Euro Americans who impacted the system by
getting involved with bison. Consequently, I believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One would think that a lesson would be learned because by the last quarter of the eighteenth century,
as the plains nomads accumulated beaver pelts for trade with Europeans, they steadily exterminated
the beaver (Isenberg 50). The Indians would acquire horses, corn, and tobacco for trading the beaver
skin, but they took out an area full of beavers. This situation was similar to the shrinking bison
population and it was a sign of what could come if they continued to over hunt and trade with the Euro
Americans. Vulnerability took over the Indians as they continued to trade with the Euro Americans.
The trade consisted of bison or bison parts in exchange for weapons and alcohol. Over hunting took
place because of this trading between the two. The Indians became greedy to hunt, so they needed
better weapons and this showed as the bison population was shrinking. Another basic need was
alcohol and it took over as a popular trade and once consumed, it did not burden the nomads (Isenberg
104). A gallon of alcohol would sell for five prime bison robes and this showed how much the Indians
valued alcohol. Whiskey was needed and it was included in the trade for bison products. Therefore,
hunting for bison became much more important because the Indians would get a reward from
supplying bison parts. This looks bad on the Indians as their motives for killing off bison was their
need for

Divorce Court Cases
One of the earliest examples of divorce was in Massachusetts Bay. When it was a colony, the people
had created a small judicial group that specifically dealt with divorce matters in 1629. This legislative
group was allowed to grant divorces on the grounds of adultery, desertion, bigamy (being married to
multiple people), and impotence (a man s inability to have sexual intercourse). In the northern
colonies, they tried to make divorce available to the people. However, southern colonies, due to their
more conservative views, tried to prevent the act of divorce, even if they had the same legislation (The
History of Divorce Law in the USA, 2014). Many of the American states had divorce legislation after
gaining Independence from Great Britain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
California was the first to adopt the law in 1969 and later on, other states (Iowa being the second) did
too (The History of Divorce Law in the USA, 2014). Over the years, divorce has increased as the
stigma against it has started to decrease since the 1800s. Divorce rates went from less than 3% to
about 7% from the late 1800s to the late 1960s. Before 1867, divorce statistics were not recorded.
While there was a large amount of dishonor attached to divorce in the 1800s, divorce still happened
every once in a while. One of the influences on divorce statistics at the time was that women outside
of marriage didn t have the same economic opportunities that men had. While divorce rates still weren
t that high compared to later on, divorce began to slowly increase. Divorce rates during the 1900s
were still low because you couldn t acquire a divorce without proving abuse, adultery, or
abandonment. Divorce continued to rise at a steady pace, significantly increasing in the 1970s. This
was because no fault divorce had just been made available and people could now file without the
hassle of having to prove something had caused the marriage to fall

Free Trade And Trade Agreements
Free Trade
Free trade is a policy in which the government does not interfere against imports or impedes with
exports by applying tariffs (Encyclopedia, 2015). Free trade is about removing barriers like tariffs,
quotas, and other restrictions. Tariffs are taxes that the countries enforce on imported goods and
services, they are set in place to make trade harder. This ultimately causes the price of goods and
services for consumers to be more expensive. Quotas are a limited quantity countries put on imports
and exports. Barriers to trade is a government limitation on the amount of international goods and
services. Countries decide to put up barriers on trade for the sole purpose of protecting their own
economy and interests. The United States has free trade agreements with 20 countries, including the
North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Tran Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), and
the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T TIP). There are many advantages and
disadvantages with free trade agreements. The North American Free Trade Agreement was
implemented in 1994, it consists of three countries; Canada, Mexico, and the United States. NAFTA is
the largest free zone which sets the groundwork for a stronger economic development as well as the
raise in prosperity between this countries (NAFTA, 2013). For the three countries in the agreement,
NAFTA has removed tariffs and non tariff barriers such as quotas, licensing and other limitations.

George Herman Ruth, Jr. He lived from February 6, 1895 August 16, 1948, and was best known as
Babe Ruth and nicknamed the Bambino and the Sultan of Swat . Babe was an American baseball
player who spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) playing for three teams between the
years of 1914 1935. The most important points of Babe s life are his early childhood, his major league
baseball career, and the legacy that Babe left behind.

Babe s amazing pitching allowed the Red Sox to win the World Series again, four games to one. Ruth
extended his World Series consecutive scoreless inning streak to 29â…” innings, a recorded that would
last until almost fifty years later. Inly July 1918, Ruth walked off the field due to a dispute with the
manager, a mistake that would soon lead him to be traded to the Yankees. However Ruth wouldn t go
out without a fight. Ruth placed a curse on the Red Sox for trading him to the Yankees. The Red Sox
didn t win another World Series until 2004 (86 years later).
On December 26, 1919, Babe Ruth was traded to the Yankees. Several reasons such as Babe s
negative attitude and his demand for a double in his salary led his trade to the New York Yankees for
almost $2mil (in now a days dollars). Babe would stay with the Yankees from 1919 1935. During his
career with the Yankees, Babe Ruth emerged from a pitcher, to an all star hitter. In 1920, Babe hit 54
home runs and his .847 slugging average would remain a Major League Baseball record for over 80
years. The best year of Ruth s career was 1921, hitting 59 home runs, batting .378 and slugging .846.
Ruth also hit a record high of 139 home runs on July 18, 1921. Ruth s name soon became synonymous
with the term home run. Babe s powerful home runs went as far as 575 feet from the home plate.
Unfortunately, due to an injury, Babe was not able to play in a majority of the World Series against the
New York Giants. This led to the

Using Celebrities In Advertising By Sue Jozui
Many companies are using celebrities to promote for a certain kind of product. Sue Jozui in her
passage, arguing that using celebrities in advertising are insulting the intelligence of the audience, and
this kind of advertising should be boycotting. The author supports her argument by first giving
examples of celebrities using some kinds of products and promoting for them, she continues by calling
authorities to stop this kind of advertising. The author s purpose is to show that using celebrities in
advertising is misleading and insulting in order to stop this kind of advertising and legislate rules and
guidelines for advertising. The author Sue writes in critical tone for consumers and authorities.

quote is saying that celebrities in advertising can not be trusted, because they usually lie just to get

Jordan promote for Nike shoes and he also wore them in his games. That proves that the celebrities are
not insulting or lying to the consumers because they proved that they are using the products in their

Bill Clinton Foreign Policy Analysis
The foreign policy of the Bill Clinton organization was the foreign policy of the United States from

President Clinton accepted office not long after the fall of the Soviet Union and end of the Cold War,
which had left the United States as the world s just remaining superpower. In that capacity and not
long after in the wake of taking office, President Clinton needed to choose whether and how the

Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge
The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge,
Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in
the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to
our destination was long, yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and
downs. About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee, both of our
iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it was basically a straight shot to
our destination. This long journey was full of excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it

The vibe of the whole place was like the country, yet we were in the city. Although Dollywood was
exhilarating; Gatlinburg was a close second. Gatlinburg is really where the city yet country

National Park, and let me just tell you, it was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky
mountains. The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure
of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on
our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium,
because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking
down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both

Essay on Monetary Policy
Introduction
Monetary policy is among the many tools used by a national government to manipulate its financial
system. Monetary policy refers to the method used by the financial authority of any country to control
the supply and availability of money (Woelfel, 1994). It is often targeted at interest rates to achieve lay
down objectives directed towards economic growth and stability (Woelfel, 1994). Monetary policy
rests on the link between interest rates in an economy, that is, the relationship between interest rates
and the total money supply. It employs a variety of methods to control outcomes like inflation,
economic growth, currency exchange rates and unemployment.
Monetary policy can either be expansionary policy in which case ... Show more content on

One of these approaches is quantitative easing (QE). Quantitative easing is a technique used by central
banks to boost money supply in an economy when interest rates are close to or at zero thus cannot be
reduced further (Woelfel, 1994). To increase the supply of money under such conditions, the central
bank may be forced to buy government assets/securities like government bonds, mortgage backed
securities or government debt from banks thus increase their surplus revenue hence raise or stabilize
prices of such securities and consequently reduce interest rates in the long term.
With this insight in mind, the remaining part of this essay seeks to critically examine the methods of
implementing monetary policy when interest rates are close to or at zero.
Monetary Policy Options at the Zero Bound
Interest rates have the lowest bound at zero mark. When this limit is reached, serious problems occur
in designing appropriate monetary policy approaches since interest rates can never be set below this
mark. Countries like Japan, United States and Switzerland have faced this challenge in the recent past
thus calling for alternative approaches to monetary policy when the nominal interest rate is close or at
zero.
Conventional monetary policy methods are always channeled towards lowering interest rates to
stabilize inflation and other outputs. This is however impossible in situations whereby the interest
rates are already close to or zero calling for

Paul Simon s Separation Of South Africa
In 1986, the United Nations made a grave mistake. The cultural boycott of South Africa encouraged
member states and organizations...to cut cultural, educational and sporting ties with South Africa. The
censorship silenced the voices of liberal musicians and artists who could have contributed to the fight
against apartheid. Moreover, the faulty amelioration justified UN members isolation of South Africa.
Through the release of Graceland, Paul Simon brought awareness to the state of South Africa. By
spreading their music and culture, he threatens the discourse on apartheid. In this paper, I will argue
how Paul Simon s breaking of the cultural boycott benefited the black South Africans.
Paul Simon broke the cultural boycott by bringing two cultures together through a collaborative
process. He diminished the binary of us and them by creating music beyond cultural boundaries.
When he created the album, he didn t want it to be just an African album . By doing so, Simon not
only brought awareness to African culture, but conveyed how the unification of two separate cultures
can create something beautiful. In his songs he included lyrics, which mixed African and English
words. The hegemony of South Africa wanted to control what was spoken to control power. However,
this amalgamation undermined the discourse on apartheid as those who were able ... Show more

Nevertheless, by combining South African music and American music, he conveyed the world the
beauty that may arise from mixing cultures. Simon did not just tell the world of the good
amalgamation can do, but he told the world how these artists were affected under the rule of apartheid.
He further combats South Africa s power structure by granting black South African musicians the
opportunity to travel abroad for music s sake. Through breaking the cultural boycott and undermining
discourse on apartheid, Paul Simon aided the black South

  • 2. Genetic Diversity In America Genetic diversity is the variation of heritable characteristics in genetic makeup present in a population of the same species i.e. variation in the nucleotides, genes, chromosomes, or whole genomes of organisms. The species with greater genetic diversity has a chance of long time survival. Knowledge of diversity in a germplasm is very important for the improvement of crop plants through breeding program (Hallauer and Miranda Filho 1988). Assessment of genetic diversity is essential to understand the relationship among and within the landraces, as well as their genetic structure. It is also valuable for setting priorities for genetic conservation, parental selection and as a source of favorable traits. (Ferriol, Pico et al. 2004) analysed 47 accessions of C. moschata featuring the morphological characters which revealed considerable variability, comparable to that found in different C. moschata centers of diversity. Molecular analysis through AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism) markers which analyze neutral genetic diversity and SRAP (sequence related amplified polymorphism) markers, which amplify gene regions both showed a genetic diversity in accordance with the morphological variability. With both markers clustered the genotypes according to their geographical origin: Central America, South America, and Spain, which suggested the existence of two independent domestications in both American areas, and/or introgressions from related species. ... • 3. Advantages Of Data Compression 1. INTRODUCTION COMPRESSION What is compression? Data compression is the method of reducing the number of bits to store or transmit the data. It reduces the size of data to save storage space or speed transmission. Cost is aldo decreased for storage and network bandwidth. Compression is performed by a program that uses an algorithm on how to shrink the size of the data. For data transmission, compression can be performed on the data content or on the entire transmission unit.. When information is sent or received via the Internet, large files, either singly or with others as part of an archive file, may be transmitted in a .ZIP, gzip or other compressed format. Text compression can be as simple as removing all unwanted characters, inserting a single repeat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all this we come to the question about why do we need compression? What is the need? And in what way will it benefit us? Data compression is needed because it allows the data to be stored without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. Data compression uses some algorithms to reduce the amount of actual space that the data would take up. The way the algorithm is compressed will determine how much data is compressed.. The compressed data will be large if the amount of data is of extremely large size. Whereas compressed data will take up very small space if the size of the data to be compressed is very small. [4] Determining the amount of space that the data will take up is dependent on the algorithm that is used to compress the data. If the algorithm is used properly and formatted specifically for the data, the data can take up nearly no space. If a generalized algorithm is used, the data may not fit into a compressed area. The algorithm is the determining factor on how well the data will compress, how much space it will take up and how much of the data will be available after compression.[4] Various Compression Techniques The most basic compression techniques are ... • 4. Female Characters Of The Novel Dracula Throughout the Victorian period in which Dracula was written, there was great concern over the roles of women, and the place they held in society. The two central female characters in Dracula are Mina Murray, later Mina Harker, and Lucy Westenra, though arguably Dracula s three daughters also hold a strong place in terms of female characters in the novel also. One of the main depictions of women in the novel is that are either both sexually promiscuous and overtly sexual, or they are pure and chaste. In Victorian society, you were either a virgin or a married woman, if women were neither then they were not of much moral worth to society. Much like this Victorian ideal, the overtly promiscuous and sexual females of Dracula are depicted as evil and monstrous, while the pure and chaste women are displayed as strong and heroic. The character of Mina Murray, whom starts the novel as a young school headmistress that is engaged to one of the novel s narrators, Jonathan Harker. Throughout the novel, Mina is depicted as the ideal Victorian woman. Take what Dr. Van Helsing says of Mina in chapter fourteen, She is one of God s women, fashioned by His own hand to show us men and other women that there is a heaven where we can enter, and that its light can be here on earth. So true, so sweet, so noble, so little an egoist... (Stoker 2002: 198) Here, Van Helsing describes Mina as in possessions of such virtue that she is the epitome of what God intends women to be. He associates Mina ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Internal Domain Name System for Company Internal Domain Name System for Company Alpha Introduction The DNS is a vital Internet component providing mechanisms for resolving host names into IP addresses and vice versa. In addition, DNS supports other Internet directories concerning DNS name servers and mail exchangers among others (Garfinkel Spafford, 1997). Despite being a universally accepted and widely used system, insecure protocols and lack of authentication among other factors within the DNS threaten proper functionality of the DNS. Moreover, the accuracy of the information contained within the DNS is vital to many aspects of IP based communications. Domain Model for the Organization The domain appropriate for this organization is the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND). This domain name is selected since it compatible with most operating systems including UNIX; it is also used by most Internet Service Providers (Stevens, 1990). In addition, BIND is recommended for the firm since its configuration files are easier to maintain than other server DNSs such as Sendmail (Terry, Painter, Riggle, Zhou, 1984). Using this DNS, cache only name servers are easily placed strategically within the internal network to remove unwanted traffic and expensive WAN links. Moreover, BIND supports DNS SEC, TSIG IPv4 among other DNS protocol enhancements. Given the popularity of BIND, it is often targeted by hackers. Therefore, limiting zone transfers to slave name servers and limiting transfer in the zone can reduce the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw Essay Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, describes Shaw s viewpoint on social class distinctions in the 1900s by describing characters of the upper, middle, and lower classes in the play. Through the characters descriptions, language, and actions, the distinction between classes becomes very prominent. Similarly, Galileo, by Bertolt Brecht, describes Brecht s take on the social class structure during Galileo s time and how the differences between classes affected Galileo s opportunity to do scientific research. Both plays depict a society ruled by the upper class and a lack of coherence among the upper, middle, and lower classes that leads to eventual conflict. In both Pygmalion and Galileo, the authors highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the different social classes in order to critique how the relationships between people from different classes affect their interactions with each other. The different classes in both plays had their advantages and disadvantages; however, some classes had more benefits than others. In Pygmalion, the upper class was the most privileged money wise. Henry Higgins was an upper class educated man who had quite a reputation and enough money to take on the challenge of transforming Eliza, a lower class woman, into an upper class citizen. As a member of the upper class, Higgins had access to chocolates, and taxis, and gold, and diamonds that members of the lower class didn t necessarily have (Shaw 19). • 7. Ticket Scalping Case 1. a. The article suggest that beef and chicken are substitutes; as the price of beef increases the price of chicken will decreases, as its quantity demanded rises due to the rise in the price of beef. Supply and demand both decrease, causing price of beef to rise and quantity traded to fall, therefore the equilibrium quantity traded decreases, and price rises. The demand of beef has decreased, causing an increase of demand for chicken, a substitute which saw a decrease in price due to an increase in price of beef. Therefore the equilibrium price and quantity traded both increase in the chicken market. 2. a. Ticket scalping is buying tickets for an event at the retail price, and then reselling them at an inflated price, which is above the official ticket price. Ticket scalpers can sell tickets at well above the official ticket price, because they buy tickets for events that will sell out and people are desperate to attend the events, so they are willing to pay more than the official price, because the event is sold out and the only way they are able to attend is if they buy these high priced tickets. The demand for the tickets is often relatively inelastic, because there are no substitutes for tickets, meaning there is no cheaper option, and supply is limited so consumers have to pay high prices for tickets. The demand for tickets increases greatly, but the supply remains unchanged. This increases the equilibrium price and the quantity traded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Zouave Soldiers In The Civil War Essay To understand what role the Zouave Soldier played in the civil war first you must know who the original soldiers were. The french Zouave soldier was a light infantry unit serving in the French army between 1831 and 1962. They were mostly identified by their short open fronted jackets, baggy trousers, and often sashes and oriental head gear. They gained members by accepting mostly volunteers. Even though they share their french counterpart s name ,surprisingly in the civil war, they weren t french they were made mostly of union and confederate soldiers. They too were a light infantry unit and adapted the same African style of clothing. The Union used them more with 70 volunteers Zouave regiments with the Confederates only using 25 companies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They moved at a faster pace than other soldiers, rather than marching unhurriedly. When reloading their rifles they would lay on their backs rather than standing to do so. They would roll prone and sometimes rose on one knee to fire back at enemies. This caused a Zouave regiment to be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. The most notable Union Zouave regiment was from New York named the 14th Brooklyn or more famously named Red Legged Devils . They received this name during the first battle of bull run where they would repeatedly charge up Henry House Hill, and Confederate General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson yelled to his men, Hold On Boys! Here come those red legged devils again! Union regiments that showed great skill and drill would be awarded with Zouave outfits. On the battlefield the Zouave outfit would be a testimony to the how skilled you were. The Zouave uniform was a quite elaborate uniform with a navy blue jacket and bright red pants which made them stand out frome the standard soldier. Some Zouave regiments wore a fez with a colored tassel and turban, a tight fitting short jacket , a wide 10 foot long sash, baggy pantaloons, white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Good Relationship With My Father The first time my father yelled at me I was six years old. I mean really raised his voice. My father had never used that kind of a tone with me before so naturally I was equally surprised as scared. As I grew older and connected events I realized my father had been upset, not because I was out of bed late at night, but because my mother had been discussing their separation that night. Up until the age of six I had an ideal relationship with my father, I suppose as normal as any other six year old child could have with their parents. I won t try to argue that in order to have a good relationship with another human you have to live in the same house as they do or even in the same state or country, but the farther you are the more difficult it will be to obtain an ideal relationship or connection with that person. A good relationship can be defined in multiple ways and each person has their own take on it. I believe that to truly have a good, grounded, relationship with someone you need to be able to trust that person, enjoy their company, and accept the person for who they are. In a genuine relationship two people should be able to trust each other, to not have any doubt in the other person. Trust is the key component to a healthy relationship and it provides a sense of safety which allows for higher levels of intimacy (Colleen Ekback). Depending on who the other person is, may it be a parent, sibling, another relative or a significant other, the doubtfulness will differ. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Book Analysis Of Olaudah Equiano Reading Response 2: the child Olaudah Equiano becoming the man slave Gustavas Vasa. Olaudah Equiano was a righteous man who was stolen from his home as a child, and made into a slave. Through Equiano s time as a slave he endured many hardships and made many friends who he would never see again due to death, or the slave trade. Equiano made a memoir to show readers what it was like to be a slave, and to show his hardship through his own eyes without showing himself as someone who is looking for compassion or compensation of any kind. I believe Equiano just had a story to tell to let out all of the misery, and chaos he had held in for many years. This reading response is focused on Equiano s transition from having a normal life to becoming a slave. Olaudah Equiano was born in Essaka in 1745 in Nigeria. Equiano s father was a chief in his village, so the life of Equiano as a kid was comforting and satisfying. The slave trade in Guinea spread all through Nigeria s coast. Equiano said that part of Africa, known by the name of Guinea, to which the trade for slaves is carried on, extends along the coast above 3400 miles, from Senegal to Angola, and includes a variety of kingdoms . (Equiano, p.356) Due to the high frequency of slave trade around Equiano s village, while the adults would tend to their crops, instead of playing games Equiano and other children would keep watch for men who would sneak into their village and kidnap children for the slave trade. The men who would kidnap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Diet Coke And Mentos Experiment An experiment that was made around the 1980s, but came back with a sensational hit in 2005 (Spangler). It s all across the internet and all across America in science classrooms. An experiment that will make people run from being hit. A sticky, sweet soda geyser all made from Diet Coke and Mentos. The Diet Coke and Mentos experiment has been around for awhile and many people have started to question how this experiment works. A process called nucleation has a big role. Nucleation is when a gas in the Diet Coke called carbon dioxide clings to the Mentos. The little bubbles that form in the soda are from the carbon dioxide (Hiskey). • 12. Attending An Informational Protest Here At Siena College For this event paper, I decided to attend an informational protest here at Siena College. To bring awareness to domestic violence in our society, Siena College hosted the One Billion Rising Revolution in the Sarazen Student Union on February 12th, 2016. One Billion Rising is one of the biggest revolutions intended to end violence against women in the world. Many people around the world come together to express their opinions, dance, and rise up against domestic violence. At this event many different dance teams at Siena College were asked to send ten of their dancers to this event to perform. Out of twenty girls on the team, I volunteered to learn a short dance and perform it for a good cause. The One Billion Rising Revolution connects to the theme Diversity, and the article Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway? by Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs because they prove that diversity is important when bringing awareness to a certain cause, because it helps promote worldliness to understand the multiple perspectives and experiences of different kinds of people I chose to go to this event because I was interested in learning about domestic violence. This is a topic I ve learned a little about in high school, but I ve never had the opportunity to learn about it first hand from an professional speaker. • 14. Elements Of The Most Dangerous Game And The Most Dangerous... The stories The Most Dangerous Game and The Gift of the Magi are both well written and vivid stories. The Most Dangerous Game is about a hunter who becomes hunted, and The Gift of the Magi is about a married couple trying to find each other gifts for christmas. Both stories have literary elements that move the story along, but in The Most Dangerous Game the elements are used more effectively. In the story, The Most Dangerous Game, two hunters, Whitney and Rainsford, sail past an island with a bad reputation among sailors. Rainsford falls out and swims to shore. A man named Zaroff takes him in for dinner. It turns out that he is a hunter like Rainsford, but his method of hunting is different. Rainsford ends up being hunted by Zaroff and he comes to a very difficult choice. He decides to risk it and jump off a cliff to swim back to shore. The story ends when Rainsford finds his way back and challenges Zaroff. This story portrays many literary elements. One of them is forshadowing. There are two ways that the author, Richard Connell, uses this technique. First off, Whitney says, The world is made up of two classes. The hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I are hunters. This foreshadows when Rainsford is going to be in the position of the huntee. Second, he foreshadows the eerie island. The place has a reputation a bad one. says Whitney. Later on, the island has great importance in the story. Another element Connell uses is situational irony. He uses it when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Four Concepts Of Symbolic Interactionism Symbolic interactions are a major part of how we socialize with others. It happens every day without us even realizing it. There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic interactions, but to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four concepts of social interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing were; definition of situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often interrelate as they all are a part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied to two different social settings which were the bar and mass at the Catholic church. The concepts will be defined and reviewed in the order above. When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting. For example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to walk through the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check the age to allow the person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting at tables in groups of three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the bar. On the right side of the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each pool table. As I continued to the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting. ... The Tao Te Ching also articulates that the master leads by filling the hearts of people, weakening their ambitions and toughening their determination (Lao tzu 3). The master assists individuals to lose their knowledge and desires and creates misperception in people who believe they possess knowledge. This concept can be applied in a political conflict in the contemporary world. It is evident that individuals have overvalued possessions. Overvaluing possessions has led to the emergence of various problems that have caused political conflict. According to Tao Te Ching, people start stealing when they place too much value in possessions. For example, the gun control debate in the United States has raged on for several years. On the one hand, the government argues that individuals should have rights over their guns to reduce gun violence. There have been numerous cases of mass shootings in the recent past. The Indians needed buffalo for their primary food source, so they would hunt bison. Then, Euro Americans came along and disrupted the system for the Indians. One would think that a lesson would be learned because by the last quarter of the eighteenth century, as the plains nomads accumulated beaver pelts for trade with Europeans, they steadily exterminated the beaver (Isenberg 50). The Indians would acquire horses, corn, and tobacco for trading the beaver skin, but they took out an area full of beavers. This situation was similar to the shrinking bison population and it was a sign of what could come if they continued to over hunt and trade with the Euro Americans. Vulnerability took over the Indians as they continued to trade with the Euro Americans. The trade consisted of bison or bison parts in exchange for weapons and alcohol. Over hunting took place because of this trading between the two. The Indians became greedy to hunt, so they needed better weapons and this showed as the bison population was shrinking. Another basic need was alcohol and it took over as a popular trade and once consumed, it did not burden the nomads (Isenberg 104). A gallon of alcohol would sell for five prime bison robes and this showed how much the Indians valued alcohol. Whiskey was needed and it was included in the trade for bison products. Therefore, hunting for bison became much more important because the Indians would get a reward from supplying bison parts. Gatlinburg is really where the city yet country atmosphere comes into play. We started our journey passing through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and let me just tell you, it was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky mountains. The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium, because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt my boyfriend s favorite part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but we didn t leave our cabin until about 11. There was this crazy clown game where you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was extremely addictive. Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. After this we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and engaging with the friendly people. Finally we were exhausted, and returned to our cabin. Our last night was ... • 34. Essay on Monetary Policy Introduction Monetary policy is among the many tools used by a national government to manipulate its financial system. Monetary policy refers to the method used by the financial authority of any country to control the supply and availability of money (Woelfel, 1994). It is often targeted at interest rates to achieve lay down objectives directed towards economic growth and stability (Woelfel, 1994). Monetary policy rests on the link between interest rates in an economy, that is, the relationship between interest rates and the total money supply. It employs a variety of methods to control outcomes like inflation, economic growth, currency exchange rates and unemployment. Monetary policy can either be expansionary policy in which case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these approaches is quantitative easing (QE). Quantitative easing is a technique used by central banks to boost money supply in an economy when interest rates are close to or at zero thus cannot be reduced further (Woelfel, 1994). To increase the supply of money under such conditions, the central bank may be forced to buy government assets/securities like government bonds, mortgage backed securities or government debt from banks thus increase their surplus revenue hence raise or stabilize prices of such securities and consequently reduce interest rates in the long term. With this insight in mind, the remaining part of this essay seeks to critically examine the methods of implementing monetary policy when interest rates are close to or at zero. Monetary Policy Options at the Zero Bound Interest rates have the lowest bound at zero mark. When this limit is reached, serious problems occur in designing appropriate monetary policy approaches since interest rates can never be set below this mark. Countries like Japan, United States and Switzerland have faced this challenge in the recent past thus calling for alternative approaches to monetary policy when the nominal interest rate is close or at zero. Conventional monetary policy methods are always channeled towards lowering interest rates to stabilize inflation and other outputs. This is however impossible in situations whereby the interest rates are already close to or zero calling for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Paul Simon s Separation Of South Africa In 1986, the United Nations made a grave mistake. The cultural boycott of South Africa encouraged member states and organizations...to cut cultural, educational and sporting ties with South Africa. The censorship silenced the voices of liberal musicians and artists who could have contributed to the fight against apartheid. Moreover, the faulty amelioration justified UN members isolation of South Africa. Through the release of Graceland, Paul Simon brought awareness to the state of South Africa. By spreading their music and culture, he threatens the discourse on apartheid. In this paper, I will argue how Paul Simon s breaking of the cultural boycott benefited the black South Africans. Paul Simon broke the cultural boycott by bringing two cultures together through a collaborative process. He diminished the binary of us and them by creating music beyond cultural boundaries. When he created the album, he didn t want it to be just an African album . By doing so, Simon not only brought awareness to African culture, but conveyed how the unification of two separate cultures can create something beautiful. In his songs he included lyrics, which mixed African and English words. The hegemony of South Africa wanted to control what was spoken to control power. However, this amalgamation undermined the discourse on apartheid as those who were able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simon did not just tell the world of the good amalgamation can do, but he told the world how these artists were affected under the rule of apartheid. He further combats South Africa s power structure by granting black South African musicians the opportunity to travel abroad for music s sake.
