HEY, KIDS! – Children‟s Worship bulletins are available in the Narthex along with a new issue of „Kids Magazine‟
you can take home. A cry room is available if you can‟t sit still. We ask you not use the Rite of Fellowship pads
and Communion cards for scribbling or drawing; extra Children‟s Worship Bulletins can be taken if needed.
TAKE ONE HOME TODAY - The July-September Portals of Prayer is now available in the Narthex (large print
copies are in the office) take a copy for yourself or a neighbor. The May Council Minutes are available at the
Welcome Center. The newest issue of the Christian Business Directory can be found in the office hallway.
DRINK…IT ADDS UP – Have you been thirsty? Are you quenching that thirst with Coke products (including
Powerade and Dasani water)? The Youth are collecting Coke Rewards codes found on bottle caps and on multi-
packs of Coke products (for Dasani, cut code from overwrap). Please put codes in Youth Mailbox.
GIVE BY BUYING! – Scrip Reminder: We are still getting a 20% profit from Kwik Trip Gas Cards. We are
preparing to purchase a large amount of cards so we can take advantage of this profit for OSLC. If you own a
business, consider purchasing some Kwik Trip Cards for your company vehicles. Also, thank you to Gay Pivonka,
Mike Morgan and Gloria Morgan for volunteering to help sell Scrip on Sundays; we could still use a couple more
volunteers. If interested, contact Julie at julier@new.rr.com.
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END – The OSLC softball team (5-4) will play their last game of the post season
tonight (Aug 2) at 5:30 pm on the bottom field at John Muir Park. This is your last chance to cheer on the 2009
team. EVERYONE is invited; bring chairs and your voices and enjoy fellowship with God‟s people from OSLC.
EVER TRY DISC GOLF? – Chaperones are needed for disc golf outings on Wednesday August 12 and August 26
from 6pm - 7:30pm at Baird's Creek. Please contact Liz R at 468-0331 or Sarah B at 819-8458 if you can help.
2. COFFEE AND COOKIES NEEDED – A coffee server is still needed for August 16, 23 and 30. A cookie provider
is still needed for August 30. All dates for Fall and Winter are also open. If you sign up for just one or two
Sundays, and you encourage your neighbor to sign up, the calendar will be full in no time. Need more information
on what you are asked to do? Call Bob Reinke at 468-0331 or Tim Richter at 339-9984.
DONATE FOR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE – We are trying to increase our non-perishable food donations for
Manna for Life this summer. The barrels are located in the office hallway. Please bring your donations on Sunday
or drop them off anytime the office is open (M-F 8-4:30pm).
IT’S RUMMAGE SALE TIME – Did you already clean out the cupboards, basement, closets, etc.? Bring your
newfound treasures to church for the October Super Sale. Donations are accepted Monday thru Friday from 8am-
4pm. For large items, please call in September to schedule a pick up or deliver to OSLC anytime after September
21. (No clothes, please.)
ARE YOU BUSY SATURDAY NIGHT? – Eleven runners are still needed at Lambeau Field for Packer Family
Night, August 8 so please sign up today to work (the list has to be faxed on Tuesday!). You can also sign up now
to work the preseason games on August 15th and 22nd. We need 20 runners for EVERY 2009-2010 Packer event at
Lambeau Field. Individual event sign up sheets can be found at the coffee bar. Every volunteer must complete an
online test before they can work an event; information on the test (and an answer sheet) can be found at the coffee
bar. Questions can be directed to Neil Burmeister at 866-9088. Please sign up as soon as you can for the events
that you plan to work. OSLC members and non-members accepted; sign up with a friend. The church receives
$45 for each worker that signs in and works the event.
NOW FORMING NEW FELLOWSHIP EMAIL LIST – We are collecting the names and email addresses of
people who want to be informed about upcoming special events, fellowship activities, volunteer opportunities,
church needs, etc. by email. Our team will use email as a fast way to reach out to people. If you are interested in
joining the email distribution list, please email your name and email address to trichter@new.rr.com and copy
info@oslc-gb.org. We hope to be able to respond quickly and send out marketing information to our church
members and friends as well as send reminders of activities (i.e. fish fry, cinnamon Sundays, etc.)
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4given
SIGN PERSON NEEDED – Ever wonder who puts the message on the sign board on the corner? Well, Robbie
Arts has done this for us faithfully but will be off to college soon so we are looking for someone to step up to the
challenge. The message is given to you each week…all you need to do is put it on the sign board. Interested?
Contact Michelle or Pastor Dave. Thanks.
ADOPT-A-GRANDPARENT? – We want to pair youth or adults with elder members who need assistance with
small chores like getting to church or Bible study, grocery shopping, etc. Only a small time commitment is needed.
Call the church office (468-4065) for more information. Are you a senior that could use a little help? Call the office
to sign up to receive assistance. Thanks.
AVOID GETTING SCAMMED – BUY SCRIP! – Have you seen the story on TV about how smart crooks are
easily scamming Credit and Debit Cards? A Debit Card---so easy to use---we run them through machines all week---
at ATMs, convenience stores, anywhere we shop---without a thought. Then---Bam! What a shock when the clerk
says, "I'm sorry but there's no money in that account." Ooops! I should have bought Scrip! BE SMART! BUY
SCRIP! NO CHEATING! NO SCAMMING! NO WORRIES! HOW SMART ARE YOU?
TRINITY TUITION ASSISTANCE FUND NEED – Trinity uses 5% of its tuition revenue to provide tuition
assistance for those in need. Unfortunately, this year that is not enough to cover all of our student‟s needs. If you
would like to help make it possible for some children to attend Trinity, call Ken Baumann 655-4673 to either donate
or pledge any amount.
PRAYERS ANSWERED/CALL ACCEPTED – Chris Nelson has accepted N.E.W. Lutheran High School‟s Call
to be their Executive Director. He will be starting his work here in the middle of August.
CAMP LUTHER SEEKS NEW DONORS – A grant from Thrivent Financial is waiting. Just become a new
donor of $100 or more (new donors have not donated in the last 5 years). When Camp Luther gets 1000 new
donors, Thrivent will give them a grant of $35,000. Can you help now to make that happen? Go to
www.campluther.com and click on Online Donations.
CAMP LUTHER AUCTION – Registration forms for the Camp Luther auction can be found on the office hallway
bulletin board. The attendance limit is 250 so sign up soon if you want to attend.
LABOR DAY WEEKEND FAMILY RETREAT (Sept 4-7) – This retreat offers a very flexible schedule with a
variety of activities. Play together, or let each family member choose. The weekend features age appropriate Bible
studies, with discussion based on “Sacrifice.” What does Christ‟s sacrifice mean for us on a daily basis? During the
rest of the weekend, you can join in activities lead by our staff or just enjoy the beach. Visit www.campluther.com
to learn more.
LIFE QUOTE – “We live in victory and we share a message of victory. Christians have the most powerful and
positive For Life message in the universe! The victorious message that „Life Wins!‟ is tailor-made for addressing the
life issues as they affected God‟s people.” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life
