out the Fellowship Pad (it‟s in the pew rack) with today‟s date, name, address, phone #, etc.
KEEP BUSY WITH… – Children‟s Worship bulletins are available in the Narthex (take more than one if you want)
along with the newest issue of „Kids Magazine‟ you can take home. A cry room is available if you can‟t sit still. We ask
you not use the Rite of Fellowship pads and Communion cards for scribbling or drawing.
JUST FOR YOU… – The July-September Portals of Prayer is now available in the Narthex (large print copies are in
the office) take a copy for yourself or a neighbor. The May Council Minutes are available at the Welcome Center. The
newest issue of the Christian Business Directory can be found in the office hallway.
COKE POINTS ADD UP – Please continue to save Coke Rewards Points on Coke products (including Powerade and
Dasani water). The Youth are collecting Coke Rewards codes found on bottle caps and on multi-packs of Coke products
(for Dasani, cut code from overwrap). Please put codes in Youth Mailbox or give to Michelle in the office.
GIVE BY BUYING! – When you buy Kwik Trip scrip, OSLC receives 20% of the amount purchased. We will be
purchasing a large amount soon to take advantage of this limited-time offer. If you own a business, consider purchasing
some Kwik Trip Cards for your company vehicles. Also, thank you to Gay P., and Mike and Gloria Morgan for stepping
up to help sell Scrip on Sundays; more volunteers are still needed. If interested, contact Julie at julier@new.rr.com.
SOFTBALL TEAM SAYS „THANKS‟ – The OSLC softball team (5-5) played their last game of the post season last
week at John Muir Park. The record, however, does not truly reflect the meaning of the fellowship and fun that everyone
had, including players, fans, and umpires. We had record numbers of fans and an immensely good time every Sunday
night. We look forward to offering TWO teams next year (double your pleasure…double your fun!!) so watch for
information next spring and sign up to play or come and watch!!
2. DISC GOLFERS NEEDED – Chaperones and youth „disc‟ers wanted for disc golf outings on August 12 and August 26
from 6pm - 7:30pm at Baird's Creek. Please contact Liz R at 468-0331 or Sarah B at 819-8458 if you can help.
COFFEE AND ??? – The ??? is whatever you want to make and bring to eat! A coffee server is still needed for August
16, 23 and 30. A cookie provider is still needed for August 30. All dates for Fall and Winter are also open. If you sign
up for just one or two Sundays, and you encourage your neighbor to sign up, the calendar will be full in no time. Need
more information on what you are asked to do? Call Bob Reinke at 468-0331 or Tim Richter at 339-9984.
FOOD NOW BEING ACCEPTED – Let‟s increase our donations even more!! Manna for Life really needs our help.
Please bring your donations to the barrel in the office hallway on Sunday or anytime the office is open (M-F 8-4:30pm).
IN JUST TWO MONTHS! – It‟s coming…it‟s almost here!! The Annual „Super Sale‟ will be held on Saturday,
October 3. Donations are being accepted Monday thru Friday from 8am-4pm. For large items, please call in September
to schedule a pick up or deliver to OSLC anytime after September 21. (No clothes, please.)
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!! – Runners are still needed at Lambeau Field for the first preseason game on Saturday,
August 15 (the list has to be faxed on Tuesday!). You can also sign up now to work the last home preseason game on
August 22nd. We need 20 runners for EVERY 2009-2010 Packer event at Lambeau Field. Individual event sign up
sheets can be found at the coffee bar. Every volunteer must complete an online test before they can work an event;
information on the test (and an answer sheet) can be found at the coffee bar. Questions can be directed to Neil
Burmeister at 866-9088. Please sign up soon for the events that you plan to work. OSLC members and non-members
accepted; sign up with a friend. The church receives $45 for each worker that signs in and works the event. This
fundraiser is worth THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to Our Saviour…can‟t you work just ONE OR TWO games??
NOW FORMING NEW FELLOWSHIP EMAIL LIST – We are collecting the names and email addresses of people
who want to be informed about upcoming special events, fellowship activities, volunteer opportunities, church needs, etc.
by email. Our team will use email as a fast way to reach out to people. If you are interested in joining the email
distribution list, please email your name and email address to trichter@new.rr.com and copy info@oslc-gb.org. We hope
to be able to respond quickly and send out marketing information to our church members and friends as well as send
reminders of activities (i.e. fish fry, cinnamon Sundays, etc.)
Be ye fishers of men. You catch them – He’ll
clean them.
MOVE IT – Michelle is still looking for someone to move a donated mattress and box spring for a person in need. If you
have a couple of hours and a truck and can help, please call Michelle at 468-4065.
SIGN PERSON NEEDED – Ever wonder who puts the message on the sign board on the corner? Well, Robbie Arts has
done this for us faithfully. He will be off to college soon so we need someone to step up to the plate. The message is given
to you each week…all you need to do is put it on the sign board. Interested? Contact Michelle or Pastor Dave. Thanks.
ADOPT-A-GRANDPARENT? – We want to pair youth or adults with elder members who need assistance with small
chores like getting to church or Bible study, grocery shopping, etc. Only a small time commitment is needed. Call the
church office (468-4065) for more information. Are you a senior that could use a little help? Call the office to sign up to
receive assistance. Thanks.
AVOID GETTING SCAMMED – BUY SCRIP! – Have you seen the story on TV about how smart crooks are easily
scamming Credit and Debit Cards? A Debit Card---so easy to use---we run them through machines all week---at ATMs,
convenience stores, anywhere we shop---without a thought. Then---Bam! What a shock when the clerk says, "I'm sorry
but there's no money in that account." Ooops! I should have bought Scrip! BE SMART! BUY SCRIP! NO
CHEATING! NO SCAMMING! NO WORRIES! HOW SMART ARE YOU?
AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM – Is coming to OSLC! On September 9, you will spend 4 hours with Chief
Trainer Lyle Sconzert to learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road. Please sign up on the
office hallway bulletin board if planning to attend. AARP members - $12 / Non-members - $14 (pay at the door)
GET READY FOR THE BIG ONE – This year‟s Fall Rally is scheduled for Sunday, September 13 from 10-noon. All
services will be held as usual. Are you a member of a board or committee? Hopefully you are preparing your „wares‟ to
show at your booth/table! (If not, it‟s not too late to talk to your members and get started!) This day includes a pot-luck
so get your recipe ready, buy those ingredients, and prepare for a feast of food, fellowship and information. The
fellowship committee will provide the main meat, so you can concentrate on the salads, sides and desserts.
TRINITY TUITION ASSISTANCE FUND NEED – Trinity uses 5% of its tuition revenue to provide tuition assistance
for those families in need. Unfortunately, this year that is not enough to cover all of our student‟s needs. If you would like
to help make it possible for some children to attend Trinity, call Ken B at 655-4673 to either donate or pledge any amount.
CAMP LUTHER AUCTION – Registration forms for the September 12 Camp Luther auction in Wausau can be found
on the office hallway bulletin board. The attendance limit is 250 so register soon if you want to attend.
OCTOBER 1 DEADLINE – Have you been working on a quilt, table runner, or wall hanging for the November 7 Quilt
Auction to benefit Camp Luther? They hope to have all of the quilts in hand by October 1. Didn‟t fill out a donor form
yet? Call Michelle in the church office to request one.
LIFE QUOTE – “‟Life wins.‟ This message offers true „good and help‟ for those in a crisis pregnancy. It points to a
God who demonstrated the value He gives to life in the womb when He entered a womb. It points to a God who forgives
mistakes and says, „Go, and from now on sin no more‟ (John 8:11b).” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of
Lutherans For Life This “Life Quote” is from Lutherans for Life –www.lutheransforlife.org
