WE ARE ALWAYS LEARNING – School days are back in session and we pray that, as visitors to Our Saviour, you
find the true knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who teaches us love and forgiveness. May you feel
welcomed here and surrounded by the love of Jesus. We ask visitors to let us know you were here by filling out the
Fellowship Pad (it’s in the hymnal rack) with today’s date, your name, address, phone number, etc.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE FALL RALLY? – Is your board or committee prepared to set up a table display during
the Fall Rally next Sunday? Did you get out that great potluck recipe and prepare your shopping list? Are your taste buds
ready for another great experience of Lutheran fellowship? Do you need to enroll your child for Sunday School? It all
starts at 9am on Sunday, September 12; stop in the gym after service for cinnamon rolls, coffee, a potluck dinner
(beginning at 10:30am) and lots of great information about the boards and events sponsored by Our Saviour. Make sure to
stop by the Thrivent Financial booth for a Root Beer Float served by our own Walter Juhnke! Please remember there will
be NO 10:45am worship service and plan accordingly.
WANTED: SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS – Become a Sunday School teacher and see the joy in the little faces of
your students as they learn of the love of Jesus. More than one teacher per class means you don’t have to be available
EVERY Sunday. If you are interested, please contact Julie Rusch at 406-9077 as soon as possible.
CONFIRMATION – By now, every 7th-9th grader at Our Saviour should have a list of items due for memory work before
class starts on September 15. The pastors are available before and after any church service to hear you recite your memory
work. If you still have questions, please call Michelle in the office at 468-4065. Keep in mind that memory work must be
done by September 15 for you to participate in Confirmation class. If you have any questions, please call the office or talk
to one of the pastors. Registration forms can be found in the brochure holder near the youth board in the office hallway.
ADOPT-A-BILL BOARD REPORT – New copies of bills are placed on the Adopt-A-Bill Board weekly. Payments
received thru August 29 ($5,765.09) have reduced the use of our reserves to pay bills this summer, when offerings are
lower. Thank you to all who have adopted a bill and also continue to contribute regularly to OSLC.
2. IT‘S BAAACK! – Yes, the first fish fry of the season is right around the corner Friday Sept 10th and we need your help!!
As always, we need customers and volunteers...and please help us promote via word of mouth, emails, friends, etc.
Volunteers are needed (waitresses, runners, dishwashers, set-up/take down, table setters, etc.). If you can lend a hand
please email Tim Richter at richter1@avaya.com or call 920-347-9490. All volunteers get reduced meal prices and enjoy
lots of fun and fellowship.
CHANGE IS COMING – Our new volunteer coordinator for the fish fry waitresses is Sharon Kucera. If interested in
helping out, please email her at shrnkucera@aol.com or call 338-1311. This year our menu will change, too…we now
have a combo dinner available (perch and cod together) as well as offering ice cream as a dessert choice.
GET CAFFEINATED – We are again asking for donations of coffee (regular and decaf) for the coffee bar and kitchen
as well as Coke and Pepsi products (regular, diet, and caffeine-free) for the upcoming Friday Fish Fry nights. Donations
can be brought directly to the kitchen anytime you come to church.
COLLECT ‗EM ALL AND BRING ‗EM IN – Please collect Coke Points, cell phones, and empty prescription pill
bottles, as well as Box Tops for Education, Labels for Education, milk caps, Capri Sun pouches, Tyron A+ certificates,
empty ink jet cartridges, aluminum cans and manufacturers coupons. Various groups supported by Our Saviour benefit
from these donations which would otherwise end up in a landfill. Please place the cans in the drop door of the garage.
YOUR UNUSED COUPONS NEEDED – We need your unused manufacturer’s coupons. Coupons can be expired up to
two months. Coupons will be sorted and mailed to military families serving overseas. For more details or to donate
toward the cost of mailing, please contact Michelle in the office at 468-4065. Please place your unused coupons in the
specially marked box in the office hallway any time; we plan to mail coupons on a monthly basis.
FOOD FOR FALL – Donations of non-perishable food items fell during the summer months. Can you please help us
build up the local food pantries again by donating just one item per month for your family? If every family at Our Saviour
did that, we would donate approximately 600 items per month to help the needy in our community.
LIKE TO KNIT—WANT TO LEARN? – LWML Knitting for Missions (Chicks with Stix) is meeting on Wednesday,
September 8 at 6:30pm in the Parlor. Call Caroline Arndt (469-3140) if you have any questions.
PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE – Has your contact information changed? Please make sure to share it with the church
office. We want to know we can keep in touch with all of our members by mail, email and telephone. Call 468-4065.
PACKERS RUNNERS – SIGN UP NOW for the regular season games which begin on September 19. Twenty (20)
runners are needed for every Packers home game; sign up sheets must be faxed on the Monday prior to each game. An
online alcohol service test must be taken by all workers. OSLC earns $50 per runner. Sign up sheets can be found on the
island in the coffee bar area. Please call Neil at 866-9088 if you have any questions.
CALLING ALL KNITTERS! – We will be sorting projects at the next LWML meeting (September 13 @7pm in parlor.)
If you have finished projects sitting at home, please bring them in! The deadline for gathering all current projects (so we
can distribute them) is November 1. New knitters may set up lessons with Caroline Arndt.
LWML NEEDS COOKIE MAKERS – We're hosting an LWML Sunday and will need several dozen cookies. We also
could use some other volunteers (ushers, readers, etc.) If you would like to assist us with anything on October 10, let
Stephenie know: stephhov@hotmail.com or 264-8317.
COME TO OUR ‗FUN-RAISER‘ – You are invited to join us for a family afternoon of music with 'The Shy Guys'.
Where: N.E.W. Lutheran High; When: Sunday, September 26th from 12:30-3:30pm. Cost: $10/person or $25/family
(includes children to age 18). Proceeds from this event support Green Bay Trinity Lutheran Elementary School; cost
includes free chili, soda, and popcorn for attendees while supplies last.
ST PAUL LUTHERAN INSTALLS NEW PASTOR – On September 5, 2010, members of Our Saviour are invited to
St Paul Lutheran Church, Luxemburg, for the installation service of their new pastor, Rev. Daniel Grams. The Festival
Service of Vespers with the Rite of Installation will begin at 4pm. A potluck dinner will follow in the gym at 5pm.
MOMS VS. MOMS POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL – Saturday, September 18th at 12:30pm at NEWLHS, the Moms vs.
Moms challenge will take place on the gridiron. NEWLHS Moms are competing for votes ($1 each at the school) to get a
chance to step on the field and compete. If you know one or more of our moms, now is your chance to get them into the
game. Mayor Jim Schmidt will even be there as the head coach for one of the teams – he’s working on some trick plays
as we speak! Everyone is invited to attend this very special and entertaining event ($5 for adults age 19 and over; $2 for
ages 5-18). Concessions are available and a cookout will follow the event from 3-5:30pm. For more information about
this event please contact Mrs. Laura London at NEWLHS at 469-6810 from 1-4:30pm.
―BLAZER SHOWCASE‖ AIRBAND/TALENT SHOW – On Saturday, September 18th at 6pm, the NEWLHS Student
Council will put on our first ever Airband/Talent show in the school gym. This is a Christian, family-friendly event for
people ages 2-92 from all over the greater Green Bay area. The cost to compete is $10 per act; just to come and watch is
$2 per person plus a non-perishable food item for Paul’s Pantry. To find out more information (rules, entrance procedures,
etc.) contact the school office at 469-6810.
CUP O‘ JOY CELEBRATES 21 YEARS – On Friday, Sept 17 at 7pm, Sara Groves and Danen Kane will perform at
the Meyer Theatre, 117 S Washington St, for the 2010 Cup O Joy Benefit Concert. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is $15
balcony/$20 prime floor and Grand Tier seating in advance and $5 more per seat at the door. Tickets are available by
phone at 437-6694 or online (www.cupojoy.com). A freewill offering will be taken to support the Cup O’ Joy ministry.
LIFE QUOTE – “We cannot rely on worldly institutions to fight our battles for us. Christians have been called to be
hope and light to a fallen generation; so let’s speak God’s truth in love and care for the most vulnerable in our churches
and society. May God bless your efforts to really make a difference!” Diane E. Schroeder, president of Lutherans for Life
