This document summarizes a passage from the Epistle to Diognetus, a 2nd century Christian apologetic text. The passage describes how early Christians lived in the world similarly to others but held themselves apart in their faith and devotion to God. It compares Christians to the soul inhabiting the body - living in the world but not being of it. The summary concludes by noting the document shows how Christians endured persecution despite increasing in number.

WHAT IS MORE FUN THAN
JUMPING ON A POGO STICK?
Learning a little bit of Theology

If one can master balancing when on a pogo stick you Rejoice big time! You are beginning to bounce!

Balance often involves some sort of back-and-forth
undulation.
Now, let’s apply that to two very helpful “balancing
terms” for your faith life. When you get these clear in
your thought life, you will have genuine forward
motion in your faith life. Your faith is about to, “Go

We are going to learn two words or concepts. Come
on, don’t stop now; this will be fun and helpful!
Word #1: Justification - “To be declared or made

Lambeau Field, the Packers, and a Food Stand
The Packers will host home games at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Sept. 30 @ 3:25pm and
Sunday, Oct. 28 @ 12pm. Why is this important to read about in a church newsletter? Here’s why…
Workers are needed (21 per game) to man a food stand in the Club Section for all games and events through the
end of the season. Workers in the stand will run cash registers (take orders, take money, and make change),
deliver food to the counter (from various stations within the stand) and prepare food for sales (cooking and
assembling brats, burgers, pizza, etc.).
Workers must be at least 18 years old, wear black pants (not capris, shorts, etc.) and comfortable, closed toe/closed
heel shoes (preferably tennis shoes; black or close to black, but can include other colors if main color is black).
Uniforms consisting of a shirt (windbreaker in colder weather), hat, and name tag will be provided and must be
worn at all times. Sign-up sheets for all events can be found at the Welcome Center. All workers must also
complete training by DNC, the concessions provider.
If you have questions or want to sign up, please call Neil Burmeister at (920) 866-9088.

A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday and head to the hills to do some bear hunting. As he
rounded the corner on a perilous twist in the trail, he and a bear collided,
sending him and his rifle tumbling down the mountainside.
Before he knew it, his rifle went one way and he went the other, landing on a rock and breaking both legs. That
was the good news. The bad news was the ferocious bear charging at him from a distance, and he couldn't move.
"Oh Lord," the preacher prayed, "I'm so sorry for skipping services today to come out here and hunt.
Please forgive me and answer my prayer.... please make a Christian out of that bear that's coming at me.
Please, Lord!"
That very instant, the bear skidded to a halt, fell to its knees, clasped its paws together and began to pray aloud
right at the preacher's feet.
"Dear Lord, bless this food I am about to receive... in Jesus' name... Amen."
