Tsunamis are powerful waves caused by earthquakes which epicenter is at the bottom of the ocean. In December 26, 2004, in the Indian Ocean, an earthquake produced a tsunami that caused destruction in many countries surrounding the Indian Ocean (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives Islands, Somalia, Kenya and other countries).

230000 people died in 14 countries because of 30 metre waves that devastated coastal areas. The temblor was the third strongest and had the longest duration in the history (8,3-10 minutes). Its magnitude reached between 9,1 and 9,3 degrees in Richter Scale.

Many doubts arose about the reason of this earthquake and what can happen after this one, since the Earth stopped it rotation approximately for 3 seconds.
