Direct Object/ Indirect Object
• Direct objects are words that receive the
action of the verb.
• He kicked the ball. (direct object)

3. Transitive Verbs
• A transitive verb requires a direct object to
complete its meaning.
• I learnt my lesson.
• She ate a burger.
• Note: Transitive verbs can be changed into
passive voice.

4. Intransitive Verbs
• Definitin: An intransitive verb is an action
verb, but it does not have a direct object.
• An Intransitive Verb does not pass over to
an object, or which expresses a state or
being.
• The baby sleeps.
• The bubbles burst.

Borrowing of Only Auxiliary Verb
• In passive voice, auxiliary verb is compulsory in all
sentences.
• 1st finger borrows auxiliary verbs from its
neighbouring 2nd finger.
• 2nd finger keeps its own auxiliary verbs. Add “being”
before verb.
• 3rd finger borrows auxiliary verbs from fourth finger.
• Fourth finger tenses can not be changed into
passive voice.

• Auxiliary verb is used according to the new
subject.
