How We’re Currently Working to Support Colleges & Universities
Just a few schools we’re working with include the College of Education &
Communications at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Case Western Reserve
University. IUP is using the HuddleCamHD SimplTrack2 as part of an advanced lecture
capture audiovisual system. The University is using Zoom Video Conferencing
software to connect their classrooms to the world allowing professors the ability to
bring in remote guests and classroom participants.

JUST LIKE IN A CLASSROOM
don’t hesitate to set a guide of expectations of behavior but also understand
things will/can change quickly
B-ROLL (VIDEO CLIPS)
Have b-roll (video clips) to catch their attention or
break up the hour long lecture
TAKE TIME TO LISTEN
Student will at times tell you what they need and sometimes you as an
educator used to be the one consistent in their life, they might just need you
to listen to them
PROVIDE INSTANT FEEDBACK.
With the technology we have they can turn something in through
Google or email. There are tools like ZipGrade and Google Forms
that will grade a majority of work, do it quick and get it back to the
student, you will be surprised at how fast they return it with
corrections if you allow it.
CONNECT WITH THE
PARENTS AS WELL
Too many times the answer to “what
did you do today” is answered with
“nothing”. Send the parents the
power points, PDFs and lectures. Let
them engage with the students also
at home from a base of knowledge

your horse and get in front of them,
and lead them there."

How We’re Currently Working to Support Colleges & Universities Just a few schools we’re working with include the College of Education & Communications at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Case Western Reserve University. IUP is using the HuddleCamHD SimplTrack2 as part of an advanced lecture capture audiovisual system. The University is using Zoom Video Conferencing software to connect their classrooms to the world allowing professors the ability to bring in remote guests and classroom participants.

  • 12. DON’T BE AFRAID TO TRY ANYTHING You never know what is going to connect with which student
  • 13. JUST LIKE IN A CLASSROOM don’t hesitate to set a guide of expectations of behavior but also understand things will/can change quickly
  • 14. B-ROLL (VIDEO CLIPS) Have b-roll (video clips) to catch their attention or break up the hour long lecture
  • 15. TAKE TIME TO LISTEN Student will at times tell you what they need and sometimes you as an educator used to be the one consistent in their life, they might just need you to listen to them
  • 16. PROVIDE INSTANT FEEDBACK. With the technology we have they can turn something in through Google or email. There are tools like ZipGrade and Google Forms that will grade a majority of work, do it quick and get it back to the student, you will be surprised at how fast they return it with corrections if you allow it.
  • 17. CONNECT WITH THE PARENTS AS WELL Too many times the answer to “what did you do today” is answered with “nothing”. Send the parents the power points, PDFs and lectures. Let them engage with the students also at home from a base of knowledge
  • 18. TRY OUT CLASSCRAFT FOR SOME FRIENDLY COMPETITION I am going to use it to engage the students in mini quizzes like mini lessons and put class against class for control of the world based on points. Of course first will be group vs group in the class
  • 19. OFFER ONE ON ONE ZOOM SESSIONS FOR STUDENTS WHO WANT IT Students will be less afraid to ask questions they may keep to themselves in larger group settings.

As I told my department chair, I was going to take the advice of my very first principal, He said with some classes you treat them like "wild horses. Sometimes to be successful you find out where they want to go, get on your horse and get in front of them, and lead them there."
  • 23. STUDENTS WANT TO USE TECHNOLOGY as a teacher it was my job to figure out how to get my lessons on the technology they wanted to use.
  • 24. TEACHERS THAT DO LITTLE THINGS LIKE THIS MAKE THE KIDS HIGH SCHOOL YEAR REMEMBER ABLE
  • 25. 80% OF THE INTERACTION WITH A TEACHER FROM A STUDENT WILL BE ON A SMARTPHONE only using a computer for more detailed work like presentations and papers But even then they were showing what they could do on a phone and it blew me away
  • 26. SPEECH TO TEXT Students can speak faster than they can type. Using speech to text can help students get chat questions into your online meetings. Making it easier to get the information out there the more likely students will risk putting answers out there.

THINK ABOUT USING A WEBCAM ALONG WITH A DOCUMENT CAMERA AS IF YOU ARE PLAYING A TABLETOP GAME If you are looking for something to aspire towards, look at the RPG Tabletop Gaming videos that show multiple people with cameras views of the table they are playing a game on. This would be ideal for a teacher with a webcam and a document camera.
