SEO consists of strategies and tactics that make a
website search-engine friendly in order to rank
highly in search engine result pages (SERPs).
Here are 10 tips to get you started
Optimize Your Title Tags
The title tag is the name of your website, and is featured
heavily in Google results.
It should be optimized with relevant keywords
Remember to keep it under 60 characters
Avoid keyword stuffing
Content is King
Search engines reward high quality content
Make sure all your event website pages have unique content
Quality content = engaged visitors and more time spent on
site = higher rankings
Engaging Pictures
Pictures are more engaging than plain text
Make sure your images have an ALT Tag
An ALT Tag is a text alternative for images. Because Google
can’t see the images it needs this text
Avoid naming images as img12345.jpg
Instead, name them eventcompany-eventname.jpg
Concise URLs
URLs should be short and descriptive
Include relevant keyword based on content on the page
Avoid keyword stuffing
Optimized Anchor Text
The anchor text is the clickable text on a website
Search engines use it to assess the link’s value
It needs to be keyword optimized in order to associate content
appropriately
For example: if a website is linking to your event page, make
sure the anchor text used in the link is something like “Summer
Music Festival” as opposed to “Event Company Name”
Are You Social?
Make sure your event website is equipped with social
plugins, Facebook and Twitter at the very least
Allows for easy sharing of content
Helps build your social graph and expands reach
Unleash Your Inner Writer
Blogging is a great way to generate high quality content
Helps build online reputation within your industry
Keeps attendees informed throughout the year

Make sure you have profiles on all the major social media
