Analysis Of Mommy Dead And Dearest
Mommy Dead Dearest
Imagine your own family member constantly manipulating you into thinking you were going to be
forever young. Now imagine that person telling every individual that you cannot care for yourself nor
will ever get better. To be completely honest, that is a scary thought, not having any control over your
own body and believing your caretaker that you are mentally incapacitate to care for yourself. The
documentary I chose to watch and write about is Mommy Dead Dearest, this documentary was
released 11 March 2017 and the director is Erin Lee Carr. In this documentary, we see Dee Dee and
Gypsy s narrative who brings Munchausen Syndrome by proxy a form of child abuse that involves a
caretaker making up an illness for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dee Dee was tested for muscular dystrophy. She had brain and spine scans and a muscle biopsy. She
was eventually confined to a wheel chair because she couldn t walk. Dee Dee thought Gypsy had
sleep apnea so she took her to the hospital almost every day to lie about different illnesses and seek
medication that Gypsy wouldn t need.
Many years later, June 2015, Gypsy is now serving 10 years in prison for plotting her mother s
murder. I would have never expected the documentary to end the way it did. However, according to
text messages and interrogation room footage included in the documentary, Gypsy s boyfriend
sneaked into their house and allegedly stabbed Dee Dee while Gypsy hid in the bathroom. Gypsy and
her boyfriend proceeded to take several thousand dollars from a safe at Dee Dee s home and spent
some time in Springfield following her mother s death. Disturbing Facebook posts were made,
exclaiming Gypsy s boyfriend murdered her mother. I strongly believe watching the documentary
really triggers people s emotions. The amount of abuse Gypsy endured, mentally, physically, nobody
should have to ever go through that. Viewing as Gypsy s perspective, I can see why she felt the need
to kill her mother. There was a lot of hatred in her heart and probably even more hatred knowing she
was perfectly well and her mom just manipulated her throughout her childhood into adulthood. My
heart really aches for her, although first degree murder wasn t the

Celebrity Culture And Influence On Drug Use
Celebrity Culture and Influence on Drug Use
Over time the transformation of celebrity culture and branding has become a way that society interacts
and identify with. As defined by the
OxfordDictionary.com, celebrity is a famous person and the state of being well known. Celebrities and
their lifestyle is a world that is constantly shown in magazines, television, and social media. The state
of being well known attracts endorsers that then brand celebrities with an image to sell a certain along
with their merchandise. For years, we have seen the constant up rise and downfall of celebrities
generally due to drug substance abuse. Through the exploration of celebrities symbolic power,
symbolic capital, 4 levels of promotion, and real life examples I will demonstrate the impact (if any)
celebrities have had on themselves and young teens/adults drug use. Real life examples will include
late UK singer
Amy Winehouse, Argentinian hero Diego Maradona,. By doing this I will give an elaborate analysis
on the various ways celebrity culture and drug usage go hand and hand to promote casual drug use as
a normalized life style. Aside from doing so, I will also list negative and positive outcomes that arise
from celebrity drug usage, addiction, and sadly sometimes death.
First, will be the definitions I will use to illustrate symbolic power, symbolic capital and 4 levels of
promotion. Symbolic power is how much influence

24 June 2016 Introduction
Dyslexia is one type of specific learning disability or SLD. Dyslexia is a brain based type of SLD that
weakens a person s ability to read. It is not related with a person s IQ but has a strong connection with
phonological awareness, short term memory and rapid naming. Most people with Dyslexia have
normal or even high IQs. Many children with reading disabilities like dyslexia attend general school
but need special education services. This is why early diagnosis is an important factor in being able to

Human Traficking and Female Sex Slaves
Introduction
Steve Galster and his team are in Thailand to help save thousands of women from being forced into
sex slavery. Central Asia has earned millions of dollars from forcing woman and young children from
being trafficked. In Bangkok, Thailand sex becomes one of the lucrative comities that many foreign
men go for. Most of the clients are Middle Eastern men and they go to Thailand for sex and most
women do the work willingly. One of the biggest well known organizations that operate human
trafficking is the Uzbeks. The Uzbeks hold their organization in the Grace Hotel, where there are a lot
of Middle Eastern men. They lure women from their poor countries and promise them a good job,
only soon to discover that they have been tricked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What stood out
What stood out to me was how many women are forced into Human Trafficking and how many little
organizations are to help women in those situations. Annie Dieselberg has an organization in Thailand,
where former prostitutes come in and try to forget their past by making then move forward with their
lives. The Uzbeks have threatened her numerous times but continues to offer her services to help those
women. In 21st Century Sex Slavery Dieselberg mentions, These women do not know what they are
getting themselves into, they can be murdered, ganged rape, and even abused. Women end up going
through a lot of other situations when being forced into sex slavery.
What Did I Strongly Agree With
I agree with how they are trying to stop the trafficking ring from taking these women and arresting
them for their crimes. Steve Galster mentions how it is hard to take these rings down because the
women are too scared to testify against their boss. There is a division of labor in the Uzbeks rings
because they have so many groups and they do not know if the ringmasters are female or male. Even
if it is a dangerous mission for Steve s team, he is brave enough to help dozen of women from being
trafficked.
What Did I Strongly Disagree With
What I disagree with is how many organizations are there that trafficked women into becoming
prostitutes. Many women are tricked into Thailand because they thought they would get a better

The Philosopher s Stone And The Elixir Of Life
The work I chose for my Independent Reading was the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I desired
to read this book for quite some time but was adamant about reading it, purely because I did not want
to engage in such a well known classic. Throughout my time hearing about Frankenstein, I have
become brainwashed into believing that the Monster Frankenstein had created was nothing more than
a mere brainless creatures bent on destruction. I approached this novel with that mindset. Just a little
while ago, while researching the Philosopher s Stone and the Elixir of Life for methods to bring these
two ideas into reality (the latter more than the former), I came across a brief mention of this novel,
Frankenstein. In the brief mention I had read, it indicated that these two ideas were stated in ... Show

I immediately sought the book out. Once I began the book I realized that it was unputdownable, so
much so that I immersed myself for countless hours through the night and well into the next morning
reading this novel from cover to cover. Once I did put the book down I was drenched in a moment of
anger and admiration, both steaming from the overall plot and characters of the novel and the
figurative concept that protruded between the lines.
Primary, classifying this novel in one of Christopher Booker s The Seven Basic Plots was undoubtedly
a challenge. The challenge began when I realized how the story was told. It was not merely an
intellectual summary of events told as a story by Victor Frankenstein. It was a story, recorded by a
sailor named Robert Walton, and told via letters to his beloved sister Margaret

Example Of Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is the learning of different sounds, words and syllables learnt through
listening and speaking (Gillon, 2004). Phonological awareness is important for children in early
childhood to learn to establish their reading and writing skills (Hill, 2012, 160). The way children
learn phonological awareness is through word play, stretching sounds, repeat ion, rhymes and song
(Hill, 2012, p. 134; Roger Scenter, 2013).Phoneme awareness is a smaller area considered as part of
phonological awareness, phoneme awareness focuses on individual sounds that effect understanding
(Hill, 2012, p. 134). An example of phoneme awareness would be the word cat sound it out as c/, a/

Teen Drug Usage Research Paper
Teen Drug Usage Could you imagine coming home and your child not being there? Or getting a call
from the police or hospital asking you to identify the body of a young child? Drugs can take a life
instantly. Drugs can lead to death and in most cases people do not realize that they over dosed. Most
teenagers freak out when they see someone tweaking from an overdose and they run leaving their
friend to die. The only thing teens are worried about is getting caught. If it means they will get in
trouble they are out the door. Drugs can cause a number of problems and losing your child is one of
them. One reason drug usage is teens is that they follow in their parents footsteps. How a child sees
their parents act while growing up plays a big part

The Short Term Significance Of De Stalinization On Russian...
Assess the short term significance of De Stalinization on Russian politics and society
The contemporary materials make it clear that De Stalinization was quite significant in making an
impact of Russian politics and society. It had been put into practise once Joseph Stalin the head of
state of the Soviet Union had died in 1953. De Stalinization had a significant impact on Russia in
many ways; it affected Russian politics, society, communism in Russia, the freedom of the country
and also Khrushchev. The idea of de Stalinization was the completely remove the repressive pressure
on Russia that was set by the tyrannical leader Stalin. Khrushchev believed that Stalin had damaged
Russia both politically and socially and wanted to eliminate the mark Stalin had on Russia and its
people.
The step taken towards putting de Stalinization in to practise was taken by Nikita Khrushchev, when
he had given a secret speech to the Twentieth Party Congress. His speech consisted of the personality
cult and its consequences, where he had spoke about the dictatorship of Stalin and how he had affected
the country, the people were shocked by the words of Khrushchev, the man who had worked with
Stalin for many years was now denouncing the leader that controlled Russia for 30 years Since not
everyone yet understands what the personality cult led to in practise and what immense damage was
done (₁). The second speech was given in 1961, he speech had taken place in order to introduce

The Pros and Cons of Prenatal Screening Essay
Child is a gift from God. Every parent hopes for a healthy child. However, abnormalities in the fetus
growth becoming common nowadays. These may be due to physical, radiation and chemical factors.
These factors will cause deformities such as genetic mutation which causes mental retardation,
abnormal body buildup and other conditions which bring a lot of troubles in the future to the child
themselves and their parents. Modern technologies and innovations in the medical field had developed
a method to detect the abnormality before delivery and prevent this future tragedy to happen. This
method is known as prenatal screening. There are several advantages and disadvantages of prenatal
screening.

When parents know the fetus is special , they may be chosen to terminate the pregnancy. Thus, in
general prenatal screening helps to detect congenital disabilities but is also thought to be the remedy
selective abortion (Seller, 1976).
One of the benefits of prenatal screening is to enable early detection of the developmental defect
embryology. This embryology developmental defect may be due to the mutation or genetic
inheritance. Mutation is a condition characterized by permanent change in the DNA sequence that
makes up a gene. It can range in different sizes from a single DNA building block (DNA base) to a
large segment of a chromosome. On the other hand, genetic inheritance is a condition whereby parents
pass traits such as height and other characteristics to the children by chromosomes. Sonograms,
genetic tests and a new test called pre implantation genetic diagnosis which is a genetic test conducted
on embryos for people attempting pregnancy through in vitro fertilization allow women to better
predict if the infant will have a genetic defect (New York Times Magazine, 2006). Thus thorough
these tests, medical practitioners are able to identify and make early preparation toward any
abnormalities of the fetus.
Besides that, prenatal screening also improves lives. This is because prenatal screening is able to
prevent abnormalities which bring difficulties in human life. At this time, no regulations ... prenatal

The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991
Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired
firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the
intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet
proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had told
negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States, frustrated by
the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage crisis (Gross, p.
8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of origin, Vietnam, using
the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the hostages, shooting several of
them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom requests, the Vietnamese men made little
headway. After they realized their ransom offers were not going to be met, they pushed the negotiators

However, analysts expect growing consumer incomes, the late 2012 release of the Wii U and the 2013
release of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to lead to a 4.3% revenue growth in 2014. Consumers spent
$1.1 billion on new physical games and consoles at U.S. retailers during the five week period from
Aug. 31 to Oct. 4, 2014, according to industry tracking firm The NPD Group. That is up 2 percent
from $1.08 billion over a similar period in 2013. The year long growth of new console sales is making
up for lackluster video game sales. Future growth expectations for the Video Games industry have
been significantly moderated, as the picture of the market for gaming on mobile platforms becomes
clearer. Since mobile games are sold at much lower prices compared to traditional console and PC
games, their rise may foretell a slowdown of the video game market in the United States. While the
recent launch of the next generation video game consoles is expected to rekindle interest in the more
expensive console gaming market, the rise of low cost, low margin mobile gaming market may weigh
on the overall gaming market. Consequently, this is expected to pull revenue downward as consumers
pay less per hour for gaming entertainment. Revenue is expected to reach $47.4 billion in 2019 as a

Every year numerous legal and illegal immigrants originate to the United States. From all around a

America is a freedom oriented country, where everybody has right how to live their life in their own
conditions. I myself, I remain immigrant as well. I came to U.S.A. 5 years ago. American culture
remains actual diverse somewhat from other cultures. In this country, we all get the liberty to live our

Since immigrants take away places and jobs from them, nonetheless this is not entirely true. On
another hand, it is not totally wrong to think that. An immigration does not mean taking jobs away
from Americans. Whoever comes to the USA they have their own goals and ideas that they follow.

Stereotypes In Minority Report
Minority Report is an oddly misplaced mystery/action movie about a cop who is accused of a future
murder. Set in early 21st century Washington, DC, the police have the ability to stop murders before
they happen with the help of three psychics. They use technology to enhance the visions of these
psychics, referred to as pre cognitives (or pre cogs ) to generate not only the name of the victim and
perpetrator, but also the evidence against them: hence the crime of murder is reduced to a black and
white picture. Anytime the Pre cogs visions are in conflict a Minority Report is generated, yet it is also
destroyed except for what the pre cog who predicted it remembers deep within their mind.
John Anderton is the Chief of Police of PreCrime, a department of the police that deals with murder
and uses pre cogs. His son was kidnapped, driving him to PreCrime, and preventing further loss of
innocent life. His faith in the system is rooted his loss, and up to his accusation, unfaltering. His faith
begins to falter when he discovers that there is missing data regarding some of the victims and
perpetrators. This leads him to question the system, which eventually leads those in charge to arrange

The Us Transfer Pricing Regulations
Discuss the US transfer pricing regulations, including advances pricing agreements, arms length
standard, and methods allowed to determine comparable prices. 60 The US transfer pricing
regulations, as outlined in Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code, are similar to the Organization
for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD) guidelines. They have a commitment to the

Description Of The Vehicle Tracking System
Transportation act as important part in our life, the people can be connected from place to place but it
is still complicated to track the vehicle. (Sumit et Ajila,2015)
The first implementation for vehicle tracking system was in the shipping industry because it is a vital
need to know where each vessel was at any given time. These days, however, with different types of
technology growing at a wide space, tracking and display vehicle locations in real time uses
automated vehicle tracking system. (SeokJu et all,2014)
The vehicle tracking system is very useful in tracking and management for fleet. It is the technology
used to determine the location of a vehicle using different methods like GPS and other navigation
systems operating which uses satellites and ground based stations. Modern vehicle tracking systems
use GPS technology to locate and keep monitoring our vehicle anywhere on earth, but sometimes
using different types of automatic vehicle location technology are still another option. The vehicle
tracking system is fixed inside the car and gives location of the car in real time and the data can even
be downloaded in a computer which can be used for making analysis in future as it can be viewed on
electronic maps through internet and software. The device contains modern hardware and software
components that help in tracking and locating vehicles in both online and offline mode. A tracking

Comparing Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Of Mice And Men, both the movie and the book are of great quality and go into the vast detail of the
characters and the main themes in both of these great works. Since this is a report is is based off of an
opinion, and means by no means, any offence to either the book or the movie. This report will be
about the movie and the book. The movie is about two men who travel and work together. They also
get into quite a bit of trouble together. The main characters are two men named Lennie and George.
George is a sharp rugged faced man, with a sharp tongue to complement his handsome features.
Lennie is his traveling partner and friend. Lennie is tall and big with a bland face and a blank childlike
mind. This characteristic shows in one scene where he has a dead mouse in his pocket and his excuse
is it is soft. George shows his personality in the same scene when he throws the mouse and speaks his
mind, but in the book the mouse is thrown over a small creek. The book is the greater of the two but
the directors did a great job trying to stay as close as possible to the book. They also stayed on the
theme of loneliness and isolation so that the movie would be as close to the book as possible. ... Show

December 2014 Abstract Instructional practices based in social constructivism involve students
constructing new knowledge utilizing social interaction amongst themselves and with teachers.
Learner centered classrooms require significant planning and forethought by teachers to ensure that
instruction is well structured, but fluid enough to allow for student led inquiry. This paper analyzes
several studies and discussions put forth within the last five years that discuss how instructional
practices, like cooperative learning, inquiry based learning and scaffolding, are ways teachers can use
social constructivist based practices in the classroom. While most of the studies, which were mostly
done within a single school in a small number of classrooms, show that cooperative learning, inquiry
based learning and scaffolding is effective, more studies are needed to demonstrated a direct
correlation between these practices and student achievement on a broader scale.
How Teachers Can Use Social Constructivist Based Instructional Practices

I remember when I first came to nova for shark preview, I saw advertisements posters for their
upcoming events. This memory always stuck with me as I attend nova. I chose this club to cover for
the project because I thought it would be interesting and much different compared to my high school
experience. I attended the interest meeting on September 13, 2016 during the lunch break hour. I
arrived a bit late and the meeting started. They were introducing the different officers and their
positions and responsibilities. The meeting then proceeded with information on how to join and
different volunteer events they participate. For example, they take part in volunteering at the children s
hospital as a group and also help tutor students at the elementary school as well. At the end of the
meeting they notified the new club members of possible open leadership positions in the club. I spoke
with one of the club officers promptly after the meeting about the leadership position and I also told
her my interests in the club. After I grabbed a few bagels and walked out with a potential club member
as we introduced ourselves and discussed our interests in the club. My overall experience with the
club is very positive. The interest meeting was very organized and informative and was able to show

Corona Vs Heineken Comparison
Corona vs. Heineken Which is the more superior beer, Corona or Heineken? I believe Corona is the
better beer due to the fact that Corona has the better taste and I would personally drink corona over
Heineken. I once suffered a killer headache that hurt from the head down one night after a long day of
drinking Heineken out on the lake. Corona is the better beer than Heineken, for example, I once
purchased a six pack of each brand to meet my hydration needs to prepare myself for a long, yet fun
lake day. After finishing both servings of beverages, I realized that Corona is the more superior beer
because Corona did not leave that bitter after taste and left me refreshed, resulting in me wishing I had
more. I prefer a cold, refreshing beer, so I understand that any beer with good quality will satisfy a
regular drinker more than the usual watery beer such as Keystone, Coors, or Bud Light. I give praise
to both brewing companies, however Corona edges out Heineken in my book. Corona is the more

Many brewers follow similar recipes, but the ingredients of Corona and Heineken is the second reason
to compare these two beers. Corona and Heineken both have a great high quality taste but the
ingredients differ. Although the basic recipe for Heineken is closely guarded, the ingredients are no
secret. Heineken ingredients include barley malt (grain), hops (flavour maker), water, yeast, and
gluten with no additional additives. The amount of gluten usually depends on whether the beer is a
lighter or darker colored product, with the lighter beer containing less gluten than the darker beer such
as Heineken. The ingredients for Corona look similar to Heineken s. The ingredients include barley
malt, rice, hops, yeast, ascorbic acid, propylene glycol, and/or corn. The ingredients give Corona the
edge over Heineken due to the fact that Corona has the higher quality

The Importance Of Midnight Mass On Christmas In Greece
In Aristotelous Square in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece a huge Christmas Tree and three masted
sailing ships are put up as a popular tourist attraction to begin the holiday season (Cooper Christmas in
Greece ). Although Christmas Trees are popular, a more traditional decoration is a shallow wooden
bowl with a piece of wire suspended across the rim is common. Basil is wrapped around a wooden
cross and is hung from the wire. Water is kept in the bowl to keep the basil alive, and once a day,
usually the mother of the family, dips the basil into the holy water and uses it to sprinkle water
throughout each room of the house (Cooper Christmas in Greece ) . By doing this, the family is
hoping to keep away kallikantzaroi or the bad spirits. These bad spirits only appear between Christmas
and Epiphany and they are known to come from the middle of the earth and come into houses through
chimneys. The kallikantzaroi are known to put out fires and make milk go bad, so people keep their
fires burning throughout the twelve days of Christmas to keep them away (Cooper; Hauser Christmas
in Greece ).
On December 24th, children go into the streets, play drums, triangles, and sing in hopes to receive
money or snacks. Attending midnight mass on Christmas Eve is very important to most Greeks. After
mass, the Greeks are able to end their Advent fast (Cooper Christmas in Greece ).
The traditional meal served on Christmas is either lamb or pork, spinach and cheese pie, and

It was customary in the 17th century to write poems about love in comparison to nature and he uses
the world to describe his space of love. In just two lines we can already the feel of the poem and build
up a picture of his passion. The poet is attempting in the first stanza, through flattery, to win over his
Lady and persuade her to consummate their love. This stanza is typically metaphysical, demonstrating
a controversial use of imagery, for example, Thou by the Indian Ganges side, shouldst rubies find; I by
the tide and a double entendre, for example when he talks about his vegetable love .
It is written in the style of other poems of that time. However, half way through the stanza his
passionate words turn gently satirical and we feel a change in the poet s tone. For example he says
Love you ten years before the Flood and you should, if you please, refuse till the conversion of the
Jews . Here his flattery turns slightly frightening and we start to wonder if the poet s true intentions
are purely innocent or very selfish.
But at my back I always hear, time s winged chariot hurrying near is a famous phrase and is used in
the second stanza to mark a change in the atmosphere. The speed up of pace, as the verse goes on,
reveals desperation and anxiety that he might not get his own way after all.
In contrast to the first stanza, where he used flattery

Public Representation In Australia
Truth and Representation
In today s world, the way we perceive events and situations is largely influenced by the public
representation of the issue. Media plays a big part in how we see certain situations, and helps shape
our attitudes towards them. One of the issues of current significgsance is the Australian immigration
policy and the treatment of Boat People . In this essay, I will argue that there is misrepresentations of
this issue in the public representation such as the media the tensions that are inherent include,
propaganda, the use of specific language and the widespread ignorance about demography. I will be
discussing these in my essay.

It was first used back in the year 1976 when the first Vietnamese immigrants arrived. Since then the
providing of transport for refugees is people smuggling , even though Australian law states that it is a
legal right to arrive without papers and ask for help (Shepherd 2012). The word smuggling implies
that the act is illegal, how can something that is legal for the refugees be illegal for those who give
them nothing more than a means of one way transport? Language such as this is used to demonize and
de value the immigrants and the people who try to bring them to our country. Furthermore, this kind of
language adds to the national ignorance about the issue.
Australia is a highly educated country by global standards and is supposed to be well informed about
social issues. But when it comes to the issue of demography this is different. Opinion poll questions
on attitudes towards immigration provide an indirect confirmation of a widespread ignorance and
misunderstanding about demography (Betts 2008). If people are asked about whether they think the
present number of immigrants coming to Australia is too many, about right or too few, or don t know
the majority of respondents are unable to provide an direct answer. With this type of question that is
complex and needs a great understanding of the issue, the answer don t know is never more than 10 %

Essay on Fahrenheit 451 Sybolism of Fire
The Symbolism of Fire
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, is a novel filled with many symbols. The symbolism used in this
novel varies from different animals to things in nature. One of the biggest symbols throughout the
novel is fire. Fire has multiple meanings in Fahrenheit 451, and is usually symbolized as something to
be feared. Throughout the novel, fire is something that people do not want, even though it can be so
much more than a bad thing. Fire can represent knowledge and awareness, rebirth and construction, as
well as destruction. Fire is depicted, throughout history, as a symbol of knowledge and awareness. Fire
is usually a symbol that appears in novels right at a time when the main character has an epiphany or

It is said in ancient Greek and Roman mythology that burning the body helps the soul to be purified
and pass on to the afterlife. Though fire can represent knowledge and rebirth, it is mainly depicted as a
destructive force. In the novel fire is used to burn books which are knowledge. By burning this
knowledge the society was kept in a confined situation where the amount of knowledge in everyone is
evenly distributed. It was a pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed.
(Bradbury 3) This quotation shows Montag s feelings towards burning in the beginning of the novel.
Fire destroyed the books. Fire destroyed homes. Fire destroyed the light in everyone. The fire was not
only used to destroy things but it kept the people of society in line. The fire may have been
represented as a disciplinary tool. By having a constant source of the fire, people had fear distilled in
them from the start. This made them subconsciously obedient even though they seemed to be
insubordinate. The overall theme of fire in Fahrenheit 451 is a feeling of destruction. With the right
surroundings and intentions it was used for so much more than that. It was used as a way to exhibit
knowledge. Above all, though the depiction of destruction is very influential, and the representation of
knowledge is somewhat there, the most important symbolism of fire in the novel

A Womans Body Image And Sexuality
The perceptions of a womans body image and sexuality though revolving, have gained momentum
since the late 1880 s. The advent of department stores during the Gilded Age opened a new
opportunity to woman who for the first time were targeted consumers. The department store s of the
Gilded Age aimed to transform the shopping experience into a leisure activity. Women were not
heading to a shop because they needed a dress, but rather because they needed a distraction. Many
stores provided public restrooms a first for women, as well as pampering services, refreshments, and
top of the line customer service. In addition woman could congregate and shop with friends while
discovering new fashion to wear to whatever pop up exhibit was in town. The movement towards
premade fashion, at fixed prices meant that women were able to buy their clothing on the spot. This
was the first time that women were allowed to attract attention, and they were rewarded if they did so
with proper panche However, as time goes forth and fads change, the tribulations of a woman s body
image has stayed a constant struggle even with acceptance of women in the public sphere.
The rejection of the small, thin, and retiring female image came at a time when women were, in every
way, becoming more visible. The Gilded age was a time when larger women were seen as more
attractive. However with photography becoming popular and women who wished to embrace curves
would utilize padding, cosmetics, fake hair and even

(NBPTS, 2014, p.16) The idea of cultural diversity has been part of my educational philosophy since

It was by far the best training I could have ever received. I was hired at the same school at the end of
my student teaching semester and have now been teaching for 4 years. The notion of cultural diversity
is important to me because of the amount of personal growth I have experienced by being exposed to
the diverse lives of my friends and students. My past experiences and this course have prepared me to
be a self reflecting, culturally relevant educator and administrator. I hope to use my knowledge from
this research and course to influence other educators to also create culturally relevant classrooms that
will openly welcome and embrace all students. A classroom is only truly culturally relevant when it
has student academic success, paired with a development and maintenance of cultural competence, for
which students also develop cognizance where they desire to challenge the status quo of the present
day social structure (Ladson Billings, 1995, p.160) According to Ladson Billings (1995), it is behoove
of teachers to have pedagogical excellence in good teaching, also referred to as culturally relevant
teaching with collective empowerment. Often times for students of culturally diverse backgrounds,
school is a place where they cannot be themselves. Most school s cultural norms are typically

Similarities Between Greek Mythology And The Holy Bible
Greek mythology and The Holy Bible are writings from the ancient civilizations. The proximity
regarding some narratives between the two publications brings about a great deal of curiosity to
inquiring minds. How and why do both texts reveal interchangeable associations and can this
phenomenon be explained?
In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythological narratives began to erupt for the
purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek
stories included gods, goddesses, heroes and non human creatures.
Unlike Mythology, The Bible s narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the
beginning of time. The beginning of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years ago in
the land of Egypt. The Old Testament Scriptures were written in Hebrew and were later translated into
the Greek, however, The New Testament writings were first constructed in the Greek language. Over
forty men transcribed what was told to him by God and as a result, sixty six books make up the entire
Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures explained the creations, formation of the world, who God is, who
God s chosen peoples are, sin, and the plan of salvation as well.
Homer s The Odyssey, is an epic poem of mythology which includes twenty four books. The ancient
text centers its topics of discussion around the Trojan War, a hero named Odysseus and the challenges
he faced throughout the text. The abduction of Queen Helen by the

How Did Hernan Cortes Influence The Progress Of Aztec Empire
MANPREET KAUR STUDENT ID: 100294247 HERNAN CORTES AND THE CONQUEST OF
AZTEC EMPIRE To begin with, the turning point in Aztec empire was the time when Spanish
conquistadors entered into the empire in 1519, with their chief general, Hernan Cortes. He is well
known for conquering the Aztec empire and also for being the first governor of Mexico. This led to
complete transformation of Mexico to new world forming new lifestyle for the native people. This
essay would talk about Hernan Cortes s life and achievements, his intentions behind his every step, in
my opinion, and according to some sources. Before anything else, let s talk about his nature. From
where I am sitting, Cortes was ambitious, greedy and determined. This nature of Cortes is very evident
from the incident of his notorious behaviour of trying to escape from married woman due to which he
got injured. Some years passed but his over ambitious nature did not change. When he came to Cuba,
as a young soldier, he was very eager to explore the strange world around him because as he knew that
the land surrounding the Cuba was full of treasures. On the coincide, he developed a very good
relationship with the Cuban governor [Velazquez Diego], who trusted him and promoted him from
soldier to clerk. He belonged to a rich family but he always had a mindset to get some more, in other
words, he was very greedy in terms of wealth. In my opinion, he always had a goal to capture the

  • 2. Analysis Of Mommy Dead And Dearest Mommy Dead Dearest Imagine your own family member constantly manipulating you into thinking you were going to be forever young. Now imagine that person telling every individual that you cannot care for yourself nor will ever get better. To be completely honest, that is a scary thought, not having any control over your own body and believing your caretaker that you are mentally incapacitate to care for yourself. The documentary I chose to watch and write about is Mommy Dead Dearest, this documentary was released 11 March 2017 and the director is Erin Lee Carr. In this documentary, we see Dee Dee and Gypsy s narrative who brings Munchausen Syndrome by proxy a form of child abuse that involves a caretaker making up an illness for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dee Dee was tested for muscular dystrophy. She had brain and spine scans and a muscle biopsy. She was eventually confined to a wheel chair because she couldn t walk. Dee Dee thought Gypsy had sleep apnea so she took her to the hospital almost every day to lie about different illnesses and seek medication that Gypsy wouldn t need. Many years later, June 2015, Gypsy is now serving 10 years in prison for plotting her mother s murder. I would have never expected the documentary to end the way it did. However, according to text messages and interrogation room footage included in the documentary, Gypsy s boyfriend sneaked into their house and allegedly stabbed Dee Dee while Gypsy hid in the bathroom. Gypsy and her boyfriend proceeded to take several thousand dollars from a safe at Dee Dee s home and spent some time in Springfield following her mother s death. Disturbing Facebook posts were made, exclaiming Gypsy s boyfriend murdered her mother. I strongly believe watching the documentary really triggers people s emotions. The amount of abuse Gypsy endured, mentally, physically, nobody should have to ever go through that. Viewing as Gypsy s perspective, I can see why she felt the need to kill her mother. There was a lot of hatred in her heart and probably even more hatred knowing she was perfectly well and her mom just manipulated her throughout her childhood into adulthood. My heart really aches for her, although first degree murder wasn t the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Celebrity Culture And Influence On Drug Use Celebrity Culture and Influence on Drug Use Over time the transformation of celebrity culture and branding has become a way that society interacts and identify with. As defined by the OxfordDictionary.com, celebrity is a famous person and the state of being well known. Celebrities and their lifestyle is a world that is constantly shown in magazines, television, and social media. The state of being well known attracts endorsers that then brand celebrities with an image to sell a certain along with their merchandise. For years, we have seen the constant up rise and downfall of celebrities generally due to drug substance abuse. Through the exploration of celebrities symbolic power, symbolic capital, 4 levels of promotion, and real life examples I will demonstrate the impact (if any) celebrities have had on themselves and young teens/adults drug use. Real life examples will include late UK singer Amy Winehouse, Argentinian hero Diego Maradona,. By doing this I will give an elaborate analysis on the various ways celebrity culture and drug usage go hand and hand to promote casual drug use as a normalized life style. Aside from doing so, I will also list negative and positive outcomes that arise from celebrity drug usage, addiction, and sadly sometimes death. First, will be the definitions I will use to illustrate symbolic power, symbolic capital and 4 levels of promotion. Symbolic power is how much influence Zurita 2 a celebrity has over the mass. • 6. Human Traficking and Female Sex Slaves Introduction Steve Galster and his team are in Thailand to help save thousands of women from being forced into sex slavery. Central Asia has earned millions of dollars from forcing woman and young children from being trafficked. In Bangkok, Thailand sex becomes one of the lucrative comities that many foreign men go for. Most of the clients are Middle Eastern men and they go to Thailand for sex and most women do the work willingly. One of the biggest well known organizations that operate human trafficking is the Uzbeks. The Uzbeks hold their organization in the Grace Hotel, where there are a lot of Middle Eastern men. They lure women from their poor countries and promise them a good job, only soon to discover that they have been tricked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What stood out What stood out to me was how many women are forced into Human Trafficking and how many little organizations are to help women in those situations. Annie Dieselberg has an organization in Thailand, where former prostitutes come in and try to forget their past by making then move forward with their lives. The Uzbeks have threatened her numerous times but continues to offer her services to help those women. In 21st Century Sex Slavery Dieselberg mentions, These women do not know what they are getting themselves into, they can be murdered, ganged rape, and even abused. Women end up going through a lot of other situations when being forced into sex slavery. What Did I Strongly Agree With I agree with how they are trying to stop the trafficking ring from taking these women and arresting them for their crimes. Steve Galster mentions how it is hard to take these rings down because the women are too scared to testify against their boss. There is a division of labor in the Uzbeks rings because they have so many groups and they do not know if the ringmasters are female or male. Even if it is a dangerous mission for Steve s team, he is brave enough to help dozen of women from being trafficked. What Did I Strongly Disagree With What I disagree with is how many organizations are there that trafficked women into becoming prostitutes. Many women are tricked into Thailand because they thought they would get a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Philosopher s Stone And The Elixir Of Life The work I chose for my Independent Reading was the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I desired to read this book for quite some time but was adamant about reading it, purely because I did not want to engage in such a well known classic. Throughout my time hearing about Frankenstein, I have become brainwashed into believing that the Monster Frankenstein had created was nothing more than a mere brainless creatures bent on destruction. I approached this novel with that mindset. Just a little while ago, while researching the Philosopher s Stone and the Elixir of Life for methods to bring these two ideas into reality (the latter more than the former), I came across a brief mention of this novel, Frankenstein. In the brief mention I had read, it indicated that these two ideas were stated in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I immediately sought the book out. Once I began the book I realized that it was unputdownable, so much so that I immersed myself for countless hours through the night and well into the next morning reading this novel from cover to cover. Once I did put the book down I was drenched in a moment of anger and admiration, both steaming from the overall plot and characters of the novel and the figurative concept that protruded between the lines. Primary, classifying this novel in one of Christopher Booker s The Seven Basic Plots was undoubtedly a challenge. The challenge began when I realized how the story was told. It was not merely an intellectual summary of events told as a story by Victor Frankenstein. It was a story, recorded by a sailor named Robert Walton, and told via letters to his beloved sister Margaret ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Example Of Phonological Awareness Phonological awareness is the learning of different sounds, words and syllables learnt through listening and speaking (Gillon, 2004). Phonological awareness is important for children in early childhood to learn to establish their reading and writing skills (Hill, 2012, 160). The way children learn phonological awareness is through word play, stretching sounds, repeat ion, rhymes and song (Hill, 2012, p. 134; Roger Scenter, 2013).Phoneme awareness is a smaller area considered as part of phonological awareness, phoneme awareness focuses on individual sounds that effect understanding (Hill, 2012, p. 134). • 10. The Short Term Significance Of De Stalinization On Russian... Assess the short term significance of De Stalinization on Russian politics and society The contemporary materials make it clear that De Stalinization was quite significant in making an impact of Russian politics and society. It had been put into practise once Joseph Stalin the head of state of the Soviet Union had died in 1953. De Stalinization had a significant impact on Russia in many ways; it affected Russian politics, society, communism in Russia, the freedom of the country and also Khrushchev. The idea of de Stalinization was the completely remove the repressive pressure on Russia that was set by the tyrannical leader Stalin. Khrushchev believed that Stalin had damaged Russia both politically and socially and wanted to eliminate the mark Stalin had on Russia and its people. The step taken towards putting de Stalinization in to practise was taken by Nikita Khrushchev, when he had given a secret speech to the Twentieth Party Congress. His speech consisted of the personality cult and its consequences, where he had spoke about the dictatorship of Stalin and how he had affected the country, the people were shocked by the words of Khrushchev, the man who had worked with Stalin for many years was now denouncing the leader that controlled Russia for 30 years Since not everyone yet understands what the personality cult led to in practise and what immense damage was done (₁). When parents know the fetus is special , they may be chosen to terminate the pregnancy. Thus, in general prenatal screening helps to detect congenital disabilities but is also thought to be the remedy selective abortion (Seller, 1976). One of the benefits of prenatal screening is to enable early detection of the developmental defect embryology. This embryology developmental defect may be due to the mutation or genetic inheritance. Mutation is a condition characterized by permanent change in the DNA sequence that makes up a gene. It can range in different sizes from a single DNA building block (DNA base) to a large segment of a chromosome. On the other hand, genetic inheritance is a condition whereby parents pass traits such as height and other characteristics to the children by chromosomes. Sonograms, genetic tests and a new test called pre implantation genetic diagnosis which is a genetic test conducted on embryos for people attempting pregnancy through in vitro fertilization allow women to better predict if the infant will have a genetic defect (New York Times Magazine, 2006). Thus thorough these tests, medical practitioners are able to identify and make early preparation toward any abnormalities of the fetus. Besides that, prenatal screening also improves lives. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had told negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States, frustrated by the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage crisis (Gross, p. 8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of origin, Vietnam, using the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the hostages, shooting several of them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom requests, the Vietnamese men made little headway. • 17. Stereotypes In Minority Report Minority Report is an oddly misplaced mystery/action movie about a cop who is accused of a future murder. Set in early 21st century Washington, DC, the police have the ability to stop murders before they happen with the help of three psychics. They use technology to enhance the visions of these psychics, referred to as pre cognitives (or pre cogs ) to generate not only the name of the victim and perpetrator, but also the evidence against them: hence the crime of murder is reduced to a black and white picture. Anytime the Pre cogs visions are in conflict a Minority Report is generated, yet it is also destroyed except for what the pre cog who predicted it remembers deep within their mind. They have a commitment to the arm s length principle, as do many other countries worldwide who use it as a basis for bilateral treaties between governments. US Guidelines say that in the case of any transfer of intangible property, the income shall be proportionate with the income resulting from that intangible property. They insist companies provide documentation of a reasonable calculation for its transfer price and the burden to prove the calculation inaccurate is not on the IRS. The US guidelines also authorize the IRS to reallocate income, deductions, and other tax items between controlled taxpayers when necessary to prevent evasion of taxes or to clearly reflect income . Learner centered classrooms require significant planning and forethought by teachers to ensure that instruction is well structured, but fluid enough to allow for student led inquiry. This paper analyzes several studies and discussions put forth within the last five years that discuss how instructional practices, like cooperative learning, inquiry based learning and scaffolding, are ways teachers can use social constructivist based practices in the classroom. While most of the studies, which were mostly done within a single school in a small number of classrooms, show that cooperative learning, inquiry based learning and scaffolding is effective, more studies are needed to demonstrated a direct correlation between these practices and student achievement on a broader scale.
