Drama Theories Of Antigone
Sophocles biography and drama connections
Antigone begins with the city state of thebes being attacked by the Argive army and during the battle
eticlies turns on his brother polyneices, and kills him then kills himself.
Polyneices is given a proper military burial. But eticlies body was not buried instead it was left in the
field to rot. The king of thebes, Creon made a law saying; that it was illegal to bury the body of a
traitor, rather His body should be left for carrion birds.
(antigone 1) eticlies had more family than just polyneices. He had two sisters; antigone and Ismeni.
Antigone heard about her brother s death, and that he was not to be buried and decided she was going
to bury him. She tried to get her sister to help but ismeni felt law was more important than family. So
antigone went by herself. She was not able to bury the whole body but out of respect she sprinkled
dust over the body, and cried for him. A century that was stationed to keep watch over the body found
the dust and brushed the dust away from the body (Antigone) then ran to tell creon (the king) that
someone tried to bury the body. Creon told him to find whoever did this, and bring them to him. That
night antigone went back to the body and saw someone brushed off the dust. She the dumped more
dust on the body the poured wine on it to make it mud.
The same century found her pouring the wine, the captured her and took her to creon.
She didn t resist, or deny anything she accepted her punishment

How To Kill The Dolphins Persuasive Essay
A bay in scarlet
The scenes when the dolphins get killed is dramatic and in some places like Japan they even pull
curtains across the shoreline to hide the terrible killing process from the public .
Dolphins are one of the most intelligent animals on the planet and because of their well known
kindness they are loved by a huge amount of people. But still they are getting killed in massive
amounts in places like Chile, Faroe Island and especially in Japan. We even love them so much that
we let them suffer in dolphinariums just so we can get a little amused watching them. Is it correct to
kill and torture these harmless and intelligent creatures, for almost no use?
Some dolphin species face an uncertain future, especially some dolphin species such as the Amazon
River dolphin, the Ganges and Yangtze River dolphin, which are seriously endangered. In 2006 it was
stated that the Yangtze River dolphin was completely extinct. Because of hunting, entanglement in
fishing gear, collisions with boats and ships, habitat loss, and pollution.
Although people like to see dolphins perform in dolphinariums .Many doesn t know that dolphins live
40 years shorter in captivity and dolphins that are getting slaughtered contains polluted meat which
makes it a health risk for humans to eat.

Out-Of-Hospital Research Paper
The practice of out of hospital emergency medical care has changed considerably over the last 120
years [1]. Started in the early 1900s, ambulance services in the Commonwealth countries were
originally small teams of volunteers trained by charitable organisations such as St John Ambulance
who mostly responded to and provide transportation for work traumatic and environmental injuries
caused by increasing industrialisation [2]. In the majority of countries all over the world especially in
the western countries nowadays, emergency medical systems have evolved into an organized health
system that provide the very first emergency medical response to members of the community who are
in an acute health crisis [3]. Resulted from this organisational model of pre hospital emergency
medical care are different paramedical roles in clinical practice requiring different educations and
trainings as well as experience and competency of the clinical skills. One of the most highly skilled
paramedical roles in this organisation of emergency medical services, intensive care paramedic, is
what most paramedics aspire to.

James Truslow Adams American Dream
VO: It s important to note that James Truslow Adams wrote about the American Dream during the
great depression, and that these inspiring passages are accompanied by a long list of economic and
social ills, and recommendations for reform.
At the same time, he warned, the greatest danger was that americans would not make the necessary
effort to save the dream, because too many of us ... have grown weary and mistrustful of it.
Personally, my dream was to come to the united states to learn how to make movies and
documentaries, to feel safe while doing it and to have freedom of expressing whatever i want as a
journalist, as a filmmaker, and as a human. America has given me that opportunity and has given me
peace.

Although there is no absolute truth about the american dream, we could say that maybe a troubling
gap has developed between the original definition and the one that each of us makes and that speaks
far less eloquently to the rest of the world.
At the same time, recent events as president trump s executive order on immigration indefinitely

united states for 90 days. After the order was signed, students, visitors and green card holding legal
permanent united states residents from the seven countries and refugees from around the world were
stopped at airports in the united states.
Actions like these, prove that we live every day further away from that original american dream.

The Temperance Movement Essay
In the early parts of the 20th Century, Canada experimented with banning alcohol consumption. There
were some exceptions to this, but most of Canada s Provincial governments issued some sort of
prohibitory laws. The exception being Québec who only prohibited hard liquor, meaning that they
allowed the production and consumption of beverages, such as, beer. This drive towards prohibition
started during the mid 19th Century. It all started during the Temperance Movement, when proponents
voluntarily abstained from alcohol. This abstention was due to alcohol s, perceived, moral downfalls.
However, slowly, the various provinces reversed their restrictions on alcohol and moved from
prohibition to system of coordination. There were several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They thought that ridding the world of alcohol was necessary for their saviors return. They used the
Temperance Movement as a means to achieve their ultimate goal social salvation. The Temperance
Movement was not just about abstaining, or riding the world from alcohol, but it was all about
religion. In fact, the movement had a positive correlation with religion; which, meaning that when
religious fever increases so does the popularity of the Temperance Movement . In essence, the
temperance was a religious, moral, crusade to prepare society for the second coming of the one true
savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, this shows that the Temperance Movement was a religious movement
as well.
The movement went further than just trying to cleanse society from the grips of alcohol. It centered on
the health and well being of the family unit. The movement consisted of various different
organizations. Two examples of numerous temperance groups are The Bands of Hope of the Sons of
Temperance (BHST) and the Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). The BHST for instance
encouraged children to abstain from liquor, tobacco, and bad language. This shows that the
Temperance Movement wanted to go beyond alcohol reform. It could be argued that all fore
mentioned things are immoral, thus they must be abstained from. The reformers also tried to change,
or create, a new definition of what it is to be a real man. The proponents of temperance said that real

The World Poverty Runs Rampant
People fear tangible and visible things, places they have been and never wish to return like the old
scary basement locked in darkness. Yet, poverty remains abstract, unknown, and even unfathomable to
most. Across the world poverty runs rampant as 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 per day and
more than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty on less than $1.50 per day. These are not abstracts, but
facts so let me repeat myself, 1.3 billion people, part of the human race whose DNA contain the same
sequences as everyone on this planet live in extreme poverty; where food, medical treatment, and
clean water remains a luxury. To help put this in prospective look at an old budgetary game of time
and numbers.
Just like most people do not fully fathom the difference between million and billion, more developed
societies neither fully understand the severity of the condition, nor do they understand the magnitude
of its impact. These problems are pushed aside and 22, 000 children each day die.
In 2014, Ebola outcry garnered visible top spots in media coverage leading the US among others to
send ground personal to contain the crisis. Across developing countries malaria and tuberculosis
receives billions upon billions of dollars from both multinationals like the Global Fund and individual
donors like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. William Easterly (2006) would call them
goodhearted, as they misunderstand the major impetus of catastrophe. Diseases kill millions of

Fifth Business Parent Child Relationship Quotes
The novel, Fifth Business, written by Robertson Davies includes various aspects of parent/child
relationships and the negative impacts they can have once an individual reaches adulthood. The
relationships that the three Deptford boys shared with their parents greatly impacted not only the
careers the three boys pursued, with Dunstan Ramsay becoming a hagiographer, Paul Dempster
becoming an illusionist, and Percy Staunton becoming a successful businessman, but also had an
impact on their spiritual individuation as well. As a child, Dunstan was raised by his stern Scottish
Presbyterian mother, which caused him to feel immense guilt throughout his life as well as repress
undesired emotions. An event that impacted his life greatly was Mary Dempster s ... Show more

This is evident when Dunstan was not particularly distraught after he was informed of his parents
deaths after the war. As a child, Dunstan became quite fascinated by saints, an interest which
eventually lead to him becoming an avid hagiographer despite his Presbyterian upbringing. Upon
returning from the war, he had changed his name from Dunstable to Dunstan, an ode to St. Dunstan,
which contributed to Ramsay s individuation. Dunstan Ramsay further achieved individuation with the
help of Liselotte Vitzliputzli, who contributes to his psychological, spiritual, and individual
development. Dunstan had allowed his ego to overpower his shadow, which resulted in him living as
an overly cautious individual and not living life to its fullest. In his room in Mexico City, Liesl
confronted Dunstan with his true nature and forced him to understand himself. She used Fifth
Business as a metaphor for explaining Ramsay to himself, and it was not until this moment that
Dunstan carried this role out knowingly, such as when he revealed the secret of the snowball and the
keeping of the stone to Staunton and Eisengrim (Monk, 34 5). Towards the end of the novel, it is clear
that Dunstan reached individuation by stating, Dunstan Ramsay counselled against revelation, but
Fifth Business would not hear (Davies, 263), as well as Fifth Business insisted on being heard again
(Davies, 264). Both these quotations occurred when Dunstan Ramsay overcame his ego and shadow,
when acknowledging the secret of the snowball over fifty years after the incident had taken place. It is
important to acknowledge Dunstan s use of third person when speaking. This indicates that although
he acts as Fifth Business, he is still also his human self (Monk,

Why Does Shakespeare Use Comedy In Hamlet
Shakespeare uses comedy in many of his books, plays, and movies. Although this comedy is not
explicitly shown throughout his works, they are hidden in order to provide a release from all of the
tension/drama of all of the tension in his writing. In this play/book, Hamlet (the main character) uses
comedy in order to relax or calm himself while going through a rough patch in life. Many of the other
characters used the same method in order to take away from the tension. All throughout this
play/book, the characters used comedy in different ways, yet they still are a breakaway from the focus.
Beginning in Act 2, Scene 2, lines 164 178, Hamlet proclaims that Polonius is a fishmonger for selling
his own daughter Ophelia out.

which destroys the perception of the viewers watching or hearing this information. The messenger is

Scene 1, the gravediggers enjoy a night of digging or preparing a new spot for the suicidal Ophelia.
This entire scene was majority about how the gravediggers feel about Ophelia s death and other
people who have passed on. They come up with different reasons as to why she would have decided to
commit such a horrible action. It is strange to see gravediggers who enjoy this particular job so much
that they even play with the dug up bones of past people. Hamlet did not take the news of Ophelia
very well, which made him act in a strange and new way towards her brother. At the end of this book,
Hamlet is having a conversation with Horatio and Oscric. This quote is illustrated in Act 5, Scene 2,

Maus Symbolism
The graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman published in 1980 reinforces the ruthlessness of Nazis,
painting them in a deplorable connotation. Set in World War II, the text supports this theorem through
the author s use of symbolism, captions and facial expressions. Each convention conveys the
callousness of Nazis towards Jews, evoking dismay from the readers. In the first panel, the long shot
captures the full position of a Nazi soldier on a silhouetted horse, grasping a rifle in his hands, which
symbolises violence. Clad in army attire, the soldier s upright posture exemplifies menace as his gaze
is fixed upon a Jewish man hunched over a crate filled with rocks, seemingly too old or weak for such
work , as quoted by the caption up top. Thus, the symbolism of the rifle and the Nazi s upright posture
suggest power and authority in comparison to the mere shovel held by the Jewish man. This reinforces
the ruthless characteristic of Nazis by highlighting their brutal indifference towards the anguish of
Jewish people, as also evidenced by the scornful remark of worthless Jew! in the next panel, evoking
despair from the readers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The alliteration of the ea sound in Jews beaten with no reason emphasises its meaning, with the aid of
the image capturing the deserted town, thus suggesting that indeed, whole towns were pushing out all
Jews. Therefore, the deplorable representation of Nazis is reinforced through the use of alliteration,
caption and symbolism, as well as the darkness of the background, which represents an ominous
connotation. This challenges our values of equality, focusing on the extermination of the Jewish race
committed by the ruthless

Inventory Valuation
Inventory Valuation
Retailers define inventory as intended sellable assets consisting of goods that are available for resale
to customers. Manufacturers also maintain three components of inventory. These include finished
goods which are goods that have been completed and are awaiting sales. Manufacturers may also have
work in process inventory made up of goods being manufactured but not yet completed. The third
category of inventory is raw materials, consisting of goods that are to be used in producing products.

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with
it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on
hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any
merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and
other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost
means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules
(UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for
production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current
deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover
these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of
the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on
hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. This method is
applied to goods purchased and on hand and basic elements of cost of goods being manufactured
(direct materials, direct labor). This method does not apply to goods accounted for under the LIFO
method. To

Schizophrenia is one of the most severe psychiatric disorders that affects both male and females,
respectively. This illness is characterized by gradual increase in changes of perception, thinking, social

in outcome between genders including symptom severity, age at onset and functional outcome (as
cited in Gogos, Kwek and van den Buuse, 2011, p. 213). For example, schizophrenia occurs on
average 1.5 4.5 earlier in men compared to women. Further evidence suggests that women who have a

significant role in schizophrenia, regulates sensorimotor filtration information in rodents and in

Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism
In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings
that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain
rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family,
friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects,
showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27).
Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful
behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families,
rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows respect for others, but
it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27).
Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it. Analect
17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example on how
education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Following filial piety in
Confucianism also keeps order in society, by assuring the people to respect their elders. This also
shows how everything is connected back to the family. Ancestors are very important with in the ...

in 1A7, by describing how filial piety should be followed, extending from the family level to the ruler
level (Menzi: 118). Filial piety is described to be a practice that brings success to ones family;
therefore it should be followed (Menzi:

German Blitzkreig Essay
German Blitzkreig
The Blitzkrieg was one of the most powerful weapons in World War II. Hitler used it to quickly defeat
whole countries in a matter of weeks, before any defenses could even be thought of, much less
deployed. Poland, Norway, and Belgium all fell before Britain had time to defend them. Later on, after
D Day, when the allies had massed great amounts of troops and combat weapons in France, the allies
started there own blitzkrieg which quickly pushed the Germans back to the Rhine River at a rate of 40
miles per day. The blitzkrieg at the beginning of the war doomed Hitler at the end. Blitzkrieg tactics

The paratroopers then held the airfields until cargo planes of infantry could land and make the airfield
their own. Hitler would utilize this new improvement in warfare in his blitzkrieg over and over again.
The allies also adopted it for their own use. The allies used paratroopers in almost all major
operations, including D Day. Next came the German Blitzkrieg in France. On May 10, 1940 the
Germans attacked Belgium and the Netherlands to surpass the Maginot line. However, the main attack
came through the supposedly impassable Ardennes Forest. In two days, May 13 to 15, the Germans
forced two crossings of the Meuse River and tore a 50 mile gap in the French front. On June 10, Italy
entered the war on Germanys side and attacked France in the South. On June 14, the Germans entered
Paris, and on June 22, France surrendered to Germany. All of Europe was now under German control,
or German Allies control. They had taken Poland, France, Norway, Denmark, Czechoslovakia,
Romania, and the Balkans, all using blitzkrieg tactics. Nobody up to this point had ever had enough
time to set up a defense to truly test the German Army, and Hitler s only way of war. By this point in
the war, Hitler was so confident in his blitzkrieg tactics, that his next move was to use blitzkrieg
tactics on Soviet Russia, and attempt an air blitzkrieg on Britain. By June of 1941 Hitler s confidence
was booming. His blitzkrieg tactics had taken over all

According to Tribune Review analysis of Department of National Justice Caseload Data, 29.2 percent

The important facts regarding Ron D. Meyer versus Race City Classics, LLC are as follows: Mr.
Meyer a lover of classic cars came across a 1970 Ford Mustang on the classic cars website being sold
by Race City Classics, LLC, a North Carolina based company. Mr. Meyer initiated contact with Mr.
Thomas D. Alphin, one of the owners in order to purchase this classic car. All transactional

Grey s Anatomy Poetry Analysis
Grey s Anatomy is a popular drama doctor show to this day. They had a music event episode where
everyone sang and they had two songs that display the symbolic cycle. Both pieces compliment each
other because of their similarities in the symbolic cycle, birth and death. The visual display of the
songs fit together because of the setting and how the music itself develops throughout each song.
These songs were chosen to be in Grey s Anatomy because they illustrate real life of losing someone
and being blind to someone s pain they try to hide. In How to Save a Life and The Story the
composers develop the theme of life and death.
How to Save a Life takes place when surgeons are performing surgery on their close friend and fellow

The reason Torres is performing this song is because she is in a coma and essentially her spirit is
singing to herself to make own self wake up from her coma. In the beginning since she is in a coma, it
represents death as she is at the end of the symbolic cycle, death. She starts by saying So many stories
of where I ve been which shows she has experience of life and she is at the west side where she is an
adult knowing everything. As Torres is singing, she is walking through the hospital as she gets closer
to willing herself to wake up. One of the reasons was her girlfriend, Arizona Robbins, who loves her
and she has her child Sofia to fight for. Her child, Sofia, represents life and birth as she beings her
symbolic cycle. Most of this song is about being experienced as Torres says she has climbed mountain
tops and swam all across the ocean blue and by her saying this, she is motivating herself to wake up
and be strong for everyone. Also she talks about how everyone around her is ignorant. And all of my
friends who think that I m blessed, they don t know my head is a mess. No they don t know who I
really am . This quote from the song proves her point how no one realizes how much she has been
struggling in her life and how she has had that pain of experience and depression from everyone. The
song starts the same as How to Save a Life with a calm and softer beginning. As

example, an American company operating in a developing country, in the absence of a tax treaty
between the two countries may have to pay a withholding tax to the government of the developing
country, as well as corporation tax to the United States government (Howard, 2001, p. 259).
The purpose of this paper is to examine the merit of three basic systems, which is exemption system,
credit system and deduction system. These systems are dealings with the essence of tax relief from
international double taxation.

But because due to globalization trend and investor has been expose with many alternative choices
especially developing countries, US government has realized that high taxation and increased
regulation in developed countries have persuaded investors or corporations to search for more
favorable countries for investing and doing business, therefore, now United States still taxes the
worldwide income of domestic entities, but allows a credit against U.S. tax liability for foreign taxes
paid (Salinas, 2003, p 531).
Another good example of countries changes their taxation system to better fit into globalization and
stay competitive is the European Union (EU). The EU, in recent years has substitution of tax
deductions with tax credit system; the introduction of the tax credit system has been preceded by a
standardization of tax deductions. The objective of implement tax credit system is making taxation
friendlier to corporations in order to not damage growth and to attract foreign investors. According to
these objectives, the standard tax rate has been reduced from 43 percent in 1991 to 16 percent in 2002,
with the objective of a further reduction to 12.5 percent in 2003 (Bernadi, 2003, p 173).
Many countries generally adopt tax credit system for tax revenues but offered many attractive tax
incentives for relief international double taxation. The rationale behind this is that, a

Research Paper On Zigbee
ABSTRACT : Railways are the popular mode of Transport in almost all major cities of the World.
Railways are the most widely used and comfortable modes of transportation system. The major cause
for railway accidents is collision of trains on the same track. The main aim of this anti collision system
is to identify collision points and to report these error cases to main control room nearer to the station
as well as grid control station. Majority of accidents occurred due to improper communication among
the network between drivers and control room, due to wrong signaling, worst atmospheric condition,
immediate change of route . The train driver doesn t get proper information in time leading to
hazardous situations. So this system by using zigbee protocol provides communication in between
trains, which provide information or track id of one train to another train to avoid collision.
Keywords ARM7LPC2148, sensor, track switches, fire alert, zigbee technology.
I.INTRODUCTION
Today Railways is one of the efficient and largest transports in world. But railway system is also
facing some problems. In this paper we are providing some electronic element to provide some safety
measure for collision of trains by using zigbee protocol. It may helps to save the human life from
accidents by implement this paper in railway transport. By implementing ... Show more content on

Example Of Decision Analytic Models
Decision analytic models are used to examine cost effectiveness of healthcare interventions. These
models summarise available evidence succinctly for analysis. When there is a lack of observed
evidence, expert opinions on the mean or median values (occasionally the minimum and maximum
range) for the parameter of interest are commonly used. This does not provide sufficient information
to examine whether the distribution of uncertainty surrounding the parameter of interest is
representative of the expert s opinion. As this is a key component in Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis
(PSA) commonly used in decision analytic models, as recommended by NICE(1), there is need to
ensure the appropriate distribution of parameter uncertainty to ... Show more content on

This systematic review by Grigore et al(2) highlighted the need for guidelines to critically appraise
elicitation exercises and suggested for more research to define these measurement criteria. The authors
proposed that until a definitive checklist is developed, the validity and reliability of the elicitation
exercise should always be reported explicitly.
Following this 2013 systematic review, the same authors published an article in 2016, on a study that
compared the results for two commonly used elicitation methods, the histogram and hybrid
methods(3). This study had the following 3 objectives
1) Examine how these two methods appealed to the experts,
2) Determine if there were any differences in the elicited distributions and;
3) Compare the impact of the elicited distributions on an actual decision model
The study results showed that
1) Generally, the experts found the histogram method easier to use compared to the hybrid method
although the two elicitation methods were closely ranked by the experts in terms of ease of use and
face validity
2) The distributions from the histogram method were slightly narrower than the distributions from the
hybrid method, suggesting greater certainty when aggregated.

The Secret Behind Food That People Eat
The number of consumers has now risen to 200, 000, 000, subjected everyday to a bombardment of
poisons in their food and drugs while lying at the mercy of respectable corporations (Fuller). While
the chefs and sou chefs cooked their customers orders, they thought nothing of it. They served it to
their customer and while that customer ate, one had an allergic reaction. The customer whose name
was Jorma Takala suffers from hyperactivity. Therefore, additives can be dangerous and companies
using them should do extreme testing before exposing it to the human population.
What are additives exactly? Well, they are substances that have no proven track ... Show more content

Even though the earth holds millions of people on it, this is a large number of catastrophes. People
should not have to die because of something like this. This number is increasing every year and
scientists and the FDA should do something about it. If not, the numbers of consumers will also rise.
The number of consumers annually differs from those being diagnosed with allergic reactions. As they
continue to rise, the numbers of people admitted to the emergency rooms are also increasing. The FDA
s attitude seems to be: Let consumers figure out for themselves how much of which ingredients can
make them sick. It s bad enough that people have to worry about allergic reactions to peanuts, milk,
and other conventional foods. In fact, it makes no sense for health authorities to purposefully allow
new unsafe ingredients into the food supply.
Types of safe food additives that have been used and known to not cause any health problems are
artificial sweeteners. These sweeteners are put in place of real sugar that can cause cavities. With this
in mind, the manufacturers using this just think that they could put these in their gums and sugar free
and no complaints will surface from anyone. This can be true to some people because this is a safe
additive, but don t think that because it doesn t cause many allergic reactions it is totally safe. In fact,
these are some food additives that manufacturers use in their foods when preparing food to be

Iago as an Evil Manipulator in William Shakespeare s Othello
The statement Iago is an evil manipulator in my opinion is true. I see Iago as psychologically astute,
deceiving and a misanthrope. His sadistic character hurts everyone in a web of deceit. Iago is
Shakespeare s most plausible and intriguing villains.
The main themes in this play are appearance and reality, love, hate and jealousy.
I intend to focus on Iago and see how his character changes and how his plan unfolds in scenes Act 1
scene 3, act 2 scene 3 and act 3 scenes 3 and 4.
At the end of Act 1 scene 3, we are aware of Iago s jealousy of Othello and he reveals his scheme to
destroy him as his envious ways lead him to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Othello finds out about this fight he dismisses Cassio from office. Iago later on suggests that
Cassio should approach Desdemona about his reinstatement. Her good nature and her influence over
Othello will restore Cassio to office. Iago is manipulating Cassio without him knowing, it seems as
though he is actually helping but Iago s help is working in his own favour.
The quotes I protest, in the sincerity of love and honest kindness (Iago line 297) and Good night,
honest Iago. (Cassio line 303) shows dramatic irony.
The soliloquy at the end of this scene creates atmosphere. It allows us to see into Iago s mind and we
see just how evil he really is as he spells out his plans to lie to Othello about Desdemona and Cassio.
He knows that Desdemona pleading to Othello about reinstating Cassio is going to make this lie more
believable.
Act 3 Scene 3 is a key scene of this play; it is the temptation scene . We see Othello s character
develop to a monster full of passionate jealousy and hatred towards his wife Desdemona as Iago plants
the seeds of doubt.
The scene starts with Michael Cassio talking to Desdemona because Othello dismisses him as his
lieutenant and he fears that there is no chance he will get his job back.
When Othello walks in and sees his wife talking to Cassio, Iago says:

Why Are There Aliens In Area 51
Are there Aliens in Area 51? Many conspiracy theorists believe there are. Area 51 persists of a low
secured United States Air Force base. Many people would assume that they would have it secured
with electric fences and all kinds of security measures but there is not. There are few security
measures that the government uses, but the ones they use are top of the line equipment to ensure
people stay out. The sensors that they use for the borders of the base can detect if the object near is an
animal or a human being. People have said that they keep aliens and alien aircraft s inside the base.

Piggy s Struggle For Power
How does a group of young, innocent boys become ruthless savages? In the Lord of the Flies by
William Goulding, a group of adolescents are left stranded on an island after a plane crash. They are
without any influence of adults, a situation that leaves no doubt that the community will quickly lose
control. Humans craving for power is the cause of all viciousness in the world. With great irony, the
most intelligent boy called Piggy is wrongly ignored by the other boys. Trusting Ralph too much, the
fat boy shares, They used to call me Piggy. Ralph shrieked with laughter. He jumped up and said,
Piggy! Piggy! and Piggy then pleaded, Ralph please! (11). When Piggy and Ralph first meet, Ralph

Even in states without explicit laws, texting while driving can lead to reckless driving charges. In most
states, law enforcement agencies are allowed to issue traffic citations and tickets for texting while
driving. Drivers in states which use point systems to track drivers records can incur points for texting
while driving. In some cases, texting while driving can lead to vehicular manslaughter or homicide
charges. Despite increased attention from law enforcement, there continues to be a significant
variation in the penalties for texting while driving when compared to driving under the influence. In
Florida for example, the fine for texting while driving is just $30, while a DUI ticket is $1000. In 42
states, jail time is a possible penalty for DUI, but only 2 states have possible jail time for texting while
driving. There are wide discrepancies in penalties across the country. In Alaska, the fine for drunk
driving is $1500, but the penalty for drivers caught texting while driving is a shocking $10,000.
Alaska is a state that recognizes the dangers of distracted driving and has imposed a fine fitting the
offense. California is the opposite. The penalty for texting while driving is just a $20 fine, whereas a

Professor Michael A. Peters
13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education
Abstract
With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act as a
good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of
education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well
connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and
specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a
feeling. Besides, understandings about global citizenship will be explored as well. Last but not the
least, how global citizenship education is applied to the concepts of citizenship and global citizenship
in order to be a good citizen and act as a good citizen.
Citizenship
With regard to the concepts of citizenship, there have been a significant variety of understandings.
Specifically, in Marshall s perspective (1950, p30), citizenship consists of civil, political, and social
citizenship. In addition, Marshall argues that the development of civil citizenship expanded, involving
political citizenship and social citizenship. Based on the three dimension model of citizenship,
Marshall, in

Causes Of The Spanish Empire
In the Spanish Empire, several social, economic, and political reasons affected the rise and fall of
Spain. The disunity of the empire, the taxation of its people, and the exploration of the New World are
some of the main factors. Emerging forces also played a role in the fate of Spain and its empire. As the
empire continued to prosper, Spain made decisions that would eventually lead to its downfall. Because
of Spanish nationalism and religion, the social situation fluctuated in Spain. During Spain s reign as
the leading force in Europe, their social rise and fall materialized from religion and unity. Nationalism
was important for most countries because it helped connect the people to their kingdom. Spain was no
exception. As the soon to be empire began to explore, they conquered many individuals and places,
such as the Aztecs or Incans. This instilled a sense of pride in the people of Spain. Because of victories
in battles such as the Battle of Lepanto, in which the Spanish Empire defeated the Ottoman Empire,
the Spanish united in the belief that their people were the greatest. They were also bound by their
thoughts on Christianity and that they should be the ones to spread the religion. On the other hand,
Spain s empire was separated by religious tensions and the expulsion of other religions. Violence
towards other religions was common in this time, and rulers such as Ferdinand and Isabella decided to
rid their empire of the Jews and the Muslims. They began the Spanish

The Battle For Yucca Mountain
The Battle for Yucca Mountain. Now I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds. These words were
uttered by physicist Robert Oppenheimer on July 16, 1945. He was in Alamogordo, Texas and had just
witnessed the detonation of the world s first atomic bomb. Three weeks later, two similar bombs,
nicknamed Little Boy and Fat Man, were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The next
day, Japan surrendered to the United States, signaling the end of the Second World War (Pais Crease,
2006). Although the first nuclear weapons were relatively small, with yields equivalent to
approximately 20,000 tons of dynamite, they nonetheless shocked the world, setting off an arms and
energy race that would last for decades. Today, the United States sits on top of the world s largest
nuclear arsenal. Nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers dominate the oceans, and over 100
nuclear power plants supply nearly 20% of the nation s power supply (Bayh Gregg, 2014). All of this
nuclear production produced tremendous amounts of nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is a by product of
the uranium enrichment process and the operation of nuclear power plants. One of the most common
radioactive isotopes found in nuclear waste is plutonium 239, which is capable of causing cancer
related fatalities for millions of people in very small amounts. Other isotopes include iodine 129,
cesium 137, and uranium 238, all of which are highly radioactive and have half lives in the tens of

The Pros And Cons Of Voter Voting
Many teens may argue that they should have a say and opinion in elections, but others believe they are
too young and don t know a thing about politics. The usual voting age is 18 years old, which is still
counts as a teenager but by that age, it is considered to be legal. They are more mature and have a little
more knowledge about what is happening around the world. In the article, Takoma Park 16 year old
savors his history making moment at the polls written by Annys Shin states that the 26th Amendment
has granted 18 year olds the opportunity to vote around the mid 1900 s. Although the government has
concerns on the percentage of people who vote, having younger applicants vote, will not make much
of a difference because they are not well informed yet about the rules and how the government works.
The total amount percentage of the voting rate has been decreasing every year, simply because citizens
who are eligible to vote do not have enough time on their hands to vote. During the last municipal
elections in 2011, a meager 19 percent of eligible voters showed up at the polls, according to Jessie
Carpenter (Shin). Teens believe that if they are allowed to cast a vote, it will make a major difference
in elections and have a much better impact. Voter apathy has been a worldwide problem with citizens
because many do not vote due to the fact that they have a job and are not allowed to leave because
they really need that money or because they must attend school. One of the

make it their own. For example in America when we make noodles it may be different from the way
Mexico makes noodles they love spicy foods so they might make their noodles really spices as ours
just have normal spices added to it or cheese to make mac and cheese. The way we eat our food is

Biology Lab Report
Research Question:
Effects of pH on amylase activity
Introduction:
Amylase is an enzyme that is in human s saliva as well as the pancreas. Enzymes are biological
catalysts that speed up a chemical reaction. They break down complex molecules into simple ones. In
this case, amylase converts starches (complex molecule) into simple sugars. That is why foods like
potatoes for example, may taste sweet to us, because they contain starch. The optimum pH for
pancreatic amylase is the pH of 7. In the experiment I have used buffer solutions with the pHs of 2.8,
4 and 6.5. I have also used iodine and starch. Normally, iodine is orange yellow, however when you

The Type Of Parenting Associated With The Tiger Mother
The type of parenting associated with the tiger mother has been a subject of intense controversy for a
very long time. Even though the term itself only became part of our understanding in 2011 thanks to
the very controversial book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, by Amy Chua, there were always
questions of how much discipline is healthy and necessary for a child.
In Chua s book, she contrasts the two sides of parenting styles: what she calls Chinese parenting and
Western parenting. Chinese parenting refers to the strict and intense style of upbringing in which the
parent has (or tries to exert) complete control over their child. The parent is wholeheartedly focused
on honing their child s skills in school, music, maybe a sport, or ... Show more content on

Western parents argue that children should be allowed to make mistakes and become better people by
learning from those errors. Thus, they say that the tiger mother doesn t love their child because it s
much harder to watch your child make mistakes in the hopes that they will learn from them than it is
to simply reprimand them (and correct and intervene, even before mistakes are made or it s too late to
be good at anything).
When Chua s book came out, the media received it with horror. Chua was called a horrible monster ,
the worst mom in the world , and many other unflattering names.. Chua shocked much of America
with her seemingly brutal parenting: many people were flabbergasted by the idea that a parent wouldn
t let their child attend a sleepover, or make them practice 4 hours of violin a day, or threaten to burn
their dolls if they didn t listen. The tiger mother had exploded onto the scene, and the onlookers were
horrified by the carnage they saw behind her. How could a mother be so tyrannical and abusive? Some
even called for Chua s arrest for child abuse. In her book, she talks about how a survey showed that
Chinese mothers thought that academic success reflected good parenting, whereas Western mothers
thought that stressing academic success is not good for children . This shows that what seemed
ordinary for Chua and Chinese mothers were strange and alien to Western mothers.

Drama Theories Of Antigone Sophocles biography and drama connections Antigone begins with the city state of thebes being attacked by the Argive army and during the battle eticlies turns on his brother polyneices, and kills him then kills himself. Polyneices is given a proper military burial. But eticlies body was not buried instead it was left in the field to rot. The king of thebes, Creon made a law saying; that it was illegal to bury the body of a traitor, rather His body should be left for carrion birds. Antigone heard about her brother s death, and that he was not to be buried and decided she was going to bury him. She tried to get her sister to help but ismeni felt law was more important than family. So antigone went by herself. She was not able to bury the whole body but out of respect she sprinkled dust over the body, and cried for him. A century that was stationed to keep watch over the body found the dust and brushed the dust away from the body (Antigone) then ran to tell creon (the king) that someone tried to bury the body. How good can that be for a country? So u.s is actually providing education for people that will leave and use it somewhere else in the world. Although there is no absolute truth about the american dream, we could say that maybe a troubling gap has developed between the original definition and the one that each of us makes and that speaks far less eloquently to the rest of the world. The exception being Québec who only prohibited hard liquor, meaning that they allowed the production and consumption of beverages, such as, beer. This drive towards prohibition started during the mid 19th Century. It all started during the Temperance Movement, when proponents voluntarily abstained from alcohol. This abstention was due to alcohol s, perceived, moral downfalls. However, slowly, the various provinces reversed their restrictions on alcohol and moved from prohibition to system of coordination. They used the Temperance Movement as a means to achieve their ultimate goal social salvation. The Temperance Movement was not just about abstaining, or riding the world from alcohol, but it was all about religion. In fact, the movement had a positive correlation with religion; which, meaning that when religious fever increases so does the popularity of the Temperance Movement . In essence, the temperance was a religious, moral, crusade to prepare society for the second coming of the one true savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, this shows that the Temperance Movement was a religious movement as well. The movement went further than just trying to cleanse society from the grips of alcohol. It centered on the health and well being of the family unit. The movement consisted of various different organizations. Two examples of numerous temperance groups are The Bands of Hope of the Sons of Temperance (BHST) and the Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). The BHST for instance encouraged children to abstain from liquor, tobacco, and bad language. This shows that the Temperance Movement wanted to go beyond alcohol reform. It could be argued that all fore mentioned things are immoral, thus they must be abstained from. The reformers also tried to change, or create, a new definition of what it is to be a real man. Yet, poverty remains abstract, unknown, and even unfathomable to most. Across the world poverty runs rampant as 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 per day and more than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty on less than $1.50 per day. These are not abstracts, but facts so let me repeat myself, 1.3 billion people, part of the human race whose DNA contain the same sequences as everyone on this planet live in extreme poverty; where food, medical treatment, and clean water remains a luxury. To help put this in prospective look at an old budgetary game of time and numbers. Just like most people do not fully fathom the difference between million and billion, more developed societies neither fully understand the severity of the condition, nor do they understand the magnitude of its impact. These problems are pushed aside and 22, 000 children each day die. Fifth Business Parent Child Relationship Quotes The novel, Fifth Business, written by Robertson Davies includes various aspects of parent/child relationships and the negative impacts they can have once an individual reaches adulthood. The relationships that the three Deptford boys shared with their parents greatly impacted not only the careers the three boys pursued, with Dunstan Ramsay becoming a hagiographer, Paul Dempster becoming an illusionist, and Percy Staunton becoming a successful businessman, but also had an impact on their spiritual individuation as well. This is evident when Dunstan was not particularly distraught after he was informed of his parents deaths after the war. As a child, Dunstan became quite fascinated by saints, an interest which eventually lead to him becoming an avid hagiographer despite his Presbyterian upbringing. Upon returning from the war, he had changed his name from Dunstable to Dunstan, an ode to St. Dunstan, which contributed to Ramsay s individuation. Dunstan Ramsay further achieved individuation with the help of Liselotte Vitzliputzli, who contributes to his psychological, spiritual, and individual development. Dunstan had allowed his ego to overpower his shadow, which resulted in him living as an overly cautious individual and not living life to its fullest. In his room in Mexico City, Liesl confronted Dunstan with his true nature and forced him to understand himself. She used Fifth Business as a metaphor for explaining Ramsay to himself, and it was not until this moment that Dunstan carried this role out knowingly, such as when he revealed the secret of the snowball and the keeping of the stone to Staunton and Eisengrim (Monk, 34 5). Towards the end of the novel, it is clear that Dunstan reached individuation by stating, Dunstan Ramsay counselled against revelation, but Fifth Business would not hear (Davies, 263), as well as Fifth Business insisted on being heard again (Davies, 264). Both these quotations occurred when Dunstan Ramsay overcame his ego and shadow, when acknowledging the secret of the snowball over fifty years after the incident had taken place. It is important to acknowledge Dunstan s use of third person when speaking. This indicates that although he acts as Fifth Business, he is still also his human self (Monk, ... • 10. Maus Symbolism The graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman published in 1980 reinforces the ruthlessness of Nazis, painting them in a deplorable connotation. Set in World War II, the text supports this theorem through the author s use of symbolism, captions and facial expressions. Each convention conveys the callousness of Nazis towards Jews, evoking dismay from the readers. In the first panel, the long shot captures the full position of a Nazi soldier on a silhouetted horse, grasping a rifle in his hands, which symbolises violence. Clad in army attire, the soldier s upright posture exemplifies menace as his gaze is fixed upon a Jewish man hunched over a crate filled with rocks, seemingly too old or weak for such work , as quoted by the caption up top. Thus, the symbolism of the rifle and the Nazi s upright posture suggest power and authority in comparison to the mere shovel held by the Jewish man. This reinforces the ruthless characteristic of Nazis by highlighting their brutal indifference towards the anguish of Jewish people, as also evidenced by the scornful remark of worthless Jew! in the next panel, evoking despair from the readers. ... For any merchandised produced during the year, cost means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules (UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for production or resale activities subject to these rules. For how much i have learned over the past 9 years i have also learned a lot in this class. So far my favorite has been the hip hop combo that my group did. It has been my favorite because I really liked the music, choreography and style: and I don t really enjoy hip hop that much so I was surprised that I really enjoyed that combo. I also like the 3 days of fitness, because it motivated me in so way to try my best and I feel that I improved the workouts that we did over the 3 days. It s a dangerous and terrible habit American drivers have developed and accepted. Peters 13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education Abstract With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act as a good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a feeling. • 29. Causes Of The Spanish Empire In the Spanish Empire, several social, economic, and political reasons affected the rise and fall of Spain. The disunity of the empire, the taxation of its people, and the exploration of the New World are some of the main factors. Emerging forces also played a role in the fate of Spain and its empire. As the empire continued to prosper, Spain made decisions that would eventually lead to its downfall. Because of Spanish nationalism and religion, the social situation fluctuated in Spain. During Spain s reign as the leading force in Europe, their social rise and fall materialized from religion and unity. Nationalism was important for most countries because it helped connect the people to their kingdom. Spain was no exception. As the soon to be empire began to explore, they conquered many individuals and places, such as the Aztecs or Incans. This instilled a sense of pride in the people of Spain. Because of victories in battles such as the Battle of Lepanto, in which the Spanish Empire defeated the Ottoman Empire, the Spanish united in the belief that their people were the greatest. They were also bound by their thoughts on Christianity and that they should be the ones to spread the religion. On the other hand, Spain s empire was separated by religious tensions and the expulsion of other religions. Violence towards other religions was common in this time, and rulers such as Ferdinand and Isabella decided to rid their empire of the Jews and the Muslims. They began the Spanish ... He was in Alamogordo, Texas and had just witnessed the detonation of the world s first atomic bomb. Three weeks later, two similar bombs, nicknamed Little Boy and Fat Man, were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The next day, Japan surrendered to the United States, signaling the end of the Second World War (Pais Crease, 2006). Although the first nuclear weapons were relatively small, with yields equivalent to approximately 20,000 tons of dynamite, they nonetheless shocked the world, setting off an arms and energy race that would last for decades. Today, the United States sits on top of the world s largest nuclear arsenal. Nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers dominate the oceans, and over 100 nuclear power plants supply nearly 20% of the nation s power supply (Bayh Gregg, 2014). All of this nuclear production produced tremendous amounts of nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is a by product of the uranium enrichment process and the operation of nuclear power plants. One of the most common radioactive isotopes found in nuclear waste is plutonium 239, which is capable of causing cancer related fatalities for millions of people in very small amounts. Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up a chemical reaction. They break down complex molecules into simple ones. In this case, amylase converts starches (complex molecule) into simple sugars. That is why foods like potatoes for example, may taste sweet to us, because they contain starch. The optimum pH for pancreatic amylase is the pH of 7. In the experiment I have used buffer solutions with the pHs of 2.8, 4 and 6.5. I have also used iodine and starch. Even though the term itself only became part of our understanding in 2011 thanks to the very controversial book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, by Amy Chua, there were always questions of how much discipline is healthy and necessary for a child. In Chua s book, she contrasts the two sides of parenting styles: what she calls Chinese parenting and Western parenting. Chinese parenting refers to the strict and intense style of upbringing in which the parent has (or tries to exert) complete control over their child. The parent is wholeheartedly focused on honing their child s skills in school, music, maybe a sport, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western parents argue that children should be allowed to make mistakes and become better people by learning from those errors. Thus, they say that the tiger mother doesn t love their child because it s much harder to watch your child make mistakes in the hopes that they will learn from them than it is to simply reprimand them (and correct and intervene, even before mistakes are made or it s too late to be good at anything). When Chua s book came out, the media received it with horror. Chua was called a horrible monster , the worst mom in the world , and many other unflattering names.. Chua shocked much of America with her seemingly brutal parenting: many people were flabbergasted by the idea that a parent wouldn t let their child attend a sleepover, or make them practice 4 hours of violin a day, or threaten to burn their dolls if they didn t listen. The tiger mother had exploded onto the scene, and the onlookers were horrified by the carnage they saw behind her. How could a mother be so tyrannical and abusive? Some even called for Chua s arrest for child abuse. In her book, she talks about how a survey showed that Chinese mothers thought that academic success reflected good parenting, whereas Western mothers thought that stressing academic success is not good for children . This shows that what seemed ordinary for Chua and Chinese mothers were strange and alien to Western mothers. But does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
