Greek Hazing Research Paper
Hazing in the Greek Life
Life flipped upside down for Tucker Hipps when he did not have enough money to buy breakfast for
his fraternity brothers one morning. September 22, 2014 Tucker Hipps was found dead after a
fraternity run. Not only was this a traumatic experience for the campus of Clemson University, this
devastating news hit my families heart s real hard. Tucker was apart of the Sigma Phi Epsilon ,and he
was participating in an early morning group activity when things went bad. Tucker was last seen at the
bridge, and it was reported he missed breakfast( WSPA staff). With investigations still going on with
Tucker Hipps death, evidence is becoming more prominent. Clemson University crowds around

The consequences for committing hazing in the Greek life can be life changing. Seen on a webpage of
anti hazing laws, the South Carolina law for consequences for hazing states, Once an investigation has
been closed with evidence of people committing the act, the student can be dismissed, expelled,
suspended, or punished by the schools president... (South Carolina). Depending on the seriousness of
the event practiced and the leniency of the school, the school that the people commit hazing at can
handle the situations differently. Also, the repercussions of hazing are going to be different for the
student committing hazing and the student being hazed. This is important to think about when hanging
out with your fraternity or sorority because tragic events to one another can be prevented. Peyton
Arnett is a high school student ready to take on Greek life when she goes to college. Peyton states,
When headed to my sorority, I have to pay a heavy fee to be apart of this group. I am terrified of the
risk factor of hazing because I could get caught up into the acts. Then not only am I paying for my
dues to be in the sisterhood but I would be paying for a lawyer to help me (Arnett). This statement
turns into reality for many students at

Theories Of Natural Selection
Natural selection is the key to evolution. The difference in genotype from generation gives rise to key
traits that help species survive and flourish. When these species reproduce, they pass on their genes to
their offspring who then will be able to survive. Those species who don t have these key traits reduce
in number because they don t possess vital traits that can help them survive nor can they pass on vital
traits to their offspring. Charles Darwin was the person who came up with this theory and he discussed
it extensively in his book The Origin of Species. This theory explains why we have so much species
with distinct traits but what it doesn t explain is the evolution of neuter individuals. Neuter individuals
can t reproduce so if they had any trait that gave them a foothold over nature, it cannot be passed on to

The worker bees help the queen reproduce and have a reduced reproduction rate as a result. In Darwin
s special difficulty; the evolution of neuter insects and current theory, Francis .W. Ratnieks reviews
Darwin s discussion about altruistic worker insects and natural selection and connects them with some
current ideas about altruism. This essay discusses Darwin s question: how can natural selection favor
the evolution of sterile workers? At first, it seemed like worker bees presented a challenge to natural
selection but after years of research, Darwin and other modern biologist formalized theories that
explained the natural selection of worker bees.
Modern biologist generalized Darwin s difficulty with these bees as a problem of altruism. They
consider altruism to be a paradox because even though altruistic animals give up their fitness on
behalf of other animals, they continue to evolve and survive. Natural selection states that the more fit
animals are, the more likely they are to survive. Natural selection increases reproduction

A Brief Look at Green Buildings
According to Bauer, Peter, Schwarz (2010), green buildings represent a revolution in environmental
sustainability and are gaining increasing acceptance in many organizations. Green buildings
significantly reduce the incidence of workplace hazards and illnesses, which might increase the
productivity and personal mood of employees. (Leaman, Bordass, 2007) assert that the natural world
is a source of guidance and a mirror that often reflects back to the soul . The relationship between
individuals and nature has various facets that include beauty, commodity, language, discipline, spirits,
prospects and idealism. All of these facets support the inspiration and intuition of individuals.
Therefore, a natural environment in the workplace can aid to lift the spirits of employees and this can
have a positive impact on the personal mood of the employees (Smith Pitt, 2012). The concepts
employed in the design of many green buildings can help employees to explore and gain intimacy to
the immediate natural environment, which can improve their personal moods.
Green buildings and a natural environment in the workplace also increases the personal mood of
employees because they are able to enjoy fresh and improved quality of air (Leaman Bordass, 2007).
Unsustainable building practices can contribute to an increase in pollutants that might have a negative
effect on the health of the employees. With their health at risk, employees cannot perform optimally.

Effect of Light Color on Plants
Introduction
Living organisms have been classified by humans according to several different characteristics, one of
them being the manner in which they obtain nutritive organic molecules (1), in other words, their
food. Plants are denominated as autotrophs, organisms that can produce their own food from abiotic
sources surrounding them, such as light, carbon dioxide and water (2). Plants use these three factors in
photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy, which is then stored until the plant needs
it, or used right away (3).
The process of photosynthesis takes place on organelles (substructures inside eukaryotic cells) called
chloroplasts, more specifically, on the membrane of the thylakoids inside the chloroplasts, ... Show

They were watered with normal tap water, placed next to the same windowpane for a week and
monitored every day.
The cellophane secured with the rubber band created a seal that was too tight, preventing excess water
from evaporating which overloaded the plants with water and deprived them of enough oxygen.
Towards the end of the week, the plants were left covered by the cellophane, but unsecured by the
rubber band so that the water was able to evaporate, to provide the dry mass of the samples, which
were on average 0.06g lighter than at the beginning of the week, when they were planted . The mass

Black Swan Green Analysis
In Black Swan Green, Jason Taylor s adolescence could best be described as a roller coaster, with
highs, lows, and everywhere in between. He battles with hapless circumstances, ranging from a rigid
relationship with his father to balancing popularity and ethics, all while combatting an internal issue of
self consciousness due to a speech impediment. The significance of all the obstacles, conflicts and
decisions is that they will determine what Jason will evolve into for the rest of his life. These scenarios
epitomize the obstacles and pressures that a teenager encounters, and demonstrates how someone of
that age grows while drudging through something that they ve never experienced before.
One of the obstacles mentioned above, Jason s relationship with his father, slowly deteriorates
throughout the novel and eventually ceases to exist. Before the relationship started to die out, Jason
never seems to reach his father s standards, but when his father s relationship with his mum fails,
Jason s father starts to fade away from Jason s life. In January Man Jason ventures into his father s
office, in order to answer a phone, despite being instructed by his father specifically not to. The phone
had been ringing endlessly, and Jason was trying to focus. So, Jason ventured into the office and
answered. Somehow, Jason s father discovered and brought it up at Dinner. After admitting that Jason
had done it, his father plagued him with questions like What s the rule about not going into my office?
, What question did i just ask you? and Now why don t you answer this question? Jason is faced with
the disincentive of questioning his father s legacy: his father has unachievable standards for Jason, but
also falls short of Jason s standards for him. This leaves Jason unsure whether or not to listen to his

Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System
The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the
Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good
government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence,
friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the
system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in
which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up
with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two
options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties
have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote
for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American
conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national
defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly
centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and ...

Aquarius Constellation Research Paper
My favourite costellation is the Aquarius constellation, which is in the Southern Hemisphere during
the spring, while in the Northern Hemisphere during the fall. This is my favourite constellation
because to me, it is the most beautiful and is one of the most important backgrounds. In my personal
opinion, it also has the most meaning to it. The term Aquarius means Water Bearer or Cup Bearer in
Latin.
In Greek myth, there was a young man named Ganymede, who was a prince of Troy. He was
supposedy extremely handsome, and in this way, caught Zeus eye. This is where the story splits into
many versions, but I ll be covering my favourite. Once Ganymede was carried to Olympus by Zeus in

Aphrodite herself. Aphrodite, who had been watching the youngling for the simple beauty of her

young woman s name was Catalina, and was curious about the goddess who stood before her. She
respectfully bowed. Catalina was selfless for everything except for one thing her beauty. She wished
to be the prettiest woman in the world. Aphrodite sensed this and devised a plan. If you collect me an
apple of immortality from the Hesperides, then I shall grant you eternal beauty. Be warned: If you are
to fall in love on this journey, then you will not be granted this, Aphrodite warned, but Catalina shook
her head, desperate. So, she venturered far and wide to find the Garden of the Hesperides. One day,
after many days of veturing, she found it, and only barely made it past Ladon. She snagged an apple
and ran, only to hear someone screaming and grunting in pain. She eventually found Atlas, the titan
cursed to hold up the sky. She grabbed a golden cup and squeezed the golden apple s insides nto the
cup, mixing it into he water. She poured it into Atlas wounds and gave him the rest to drink, healing
him efficiently. He drank it, and in the process, Catalina fell in love with the man. Aphrodite appeared,
and shamed her for falling in love, as she would no longer have the gift of beauty. I don t care, as long

Ben Hall Bushrangers
Ben Hall was an Australian bushranger born on the 9th of May 1837 in Maitland, New South Wales.
He died on the 5th of May 1965 after being shot to death by police. He roamed an area of New South
Wales from Bathurst to Forbes. What makes Ben Hall different from many other bushrangers is that he
was never directly responsible for anyone s death. His parents were Benjamin Hall and Eliza Somers.
Both of them had been convicted for minor stealing offences and transported to New South Wales
from England. They married in 1834 and had multiple children. Ben was the fourth child. After his
parents had been released from jail in 1834 they found an area north of Murrurundi that had a
permanent water supply and good grazing. Benjamin built a rough hut ... Show more content on

In May 1865, with a 1000 pound bounty on his head, Ben decided that he and his gang would have to
leave New South Wales in order to survive. They first retreated to a unknown area on the Billabong
Creek, northwest of Forbes, gathering fresh horse and provisions for a long journey northwards.
Unfortunately Ben s whereabouts had been reported to the police by Goobang Mick Coneley, a man
who had earlier promised to assist the gang. In late April Ben temporarily separated from his gang,
intending to meet them again a few days later at the Billabong Creek.
An oral history of his death stated that Ben s friend , Mick Connolly, told policemen the Ben would be

Homeschooling Advantages
Is homeschooling the better option? Sure, it may not be for everyone. Maybe the disadvantages
intimidate you. However, each decision we make, as parents, has at least one disadvantage. We must
decide whether the advantages outweigh the cost. Therefore, before you jump to conclusions, let s take
into consideration some of the benefits homeschooling can offer. Homeschooling is more cost
effective. Homeschooling provides many benefits such as the elimination of bullying, better test
scores, children can work at their own pace, and families have more time together.
Homeschooling is more cost effective than sending children to public schools. In my area for students
who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch, the price for each school year, per child, is $423 based
on a 180 day school year. School supplies aren t cheap; according to the article Mommy Edition,
schools usually send home a list of mandatory supplies that will be kept at the end of the year (2017).
The cost of school pictures and year books can be anywhere between $25 and $100 per child. Then
there are activities such as sports, clubs, and field trips. My parents despised the day I brought home a
fundraiser packet. Public schools push this on parents because children see the prizes not the prices.
One year I sold candy for a school fundraiser. My brother and I ended up eating more than I sold, and
this left my parents having to pay $156 for what was missing. Otherwise, my grade card would have
been withheld.

Analysis Of Aphra Behn s Oroonoko
Aphra Behn, since the start of story Oroonoko takes on an apologetic tone in her narration of the story.
She starts of by apologizing (examples) as to the form of her writing and why she writes some parts of
the story while omitting others. It is not fully understood whether when Behn refers to being a female
pen she does so in a sarcastic way or with a deeper meaning, giving a double sense to her story. That
although she writes about a male character, she decides to write and exalt those parts of his life that
were influenced by a woman, making them as something as a very meaningful part of his story that
influenced his actions, exalting the role of a woman in this great man s life.
First of all speaking of the characterization of women in her story, we see that women are treated
merely as objects and do not have the power to make decisions for themselves, they are mostly always
under the strict rule of a man. Starting off with the character of Imoinda, we see that she only has a
considerable power because of her beauty. It is because of her beauty and her shy manner that
Oroonoko finds her so attractive, and therefore decides to marry her and have her as his only wife for
the rest of his life. After getting married, Imoinda is called by the King of Kalimenes to join his
multitude of wives. The only reason that Imoinda can proclaim to let her be slightly safe from the king
is to tell him that she is married; meaning that only by being under the protection of marriage to

Creating A Budget Analysis
Creating a budget is relatively simple, but sticking to one is a much more arduous task. There is a
great deal of self discipline that goes into solidifying a concrete spending plan.Unfortunately, not all
possess this trait, and there are many reasons a budget may not be working the way it was intended to.
Chronic Overspending There are times when most people are at risk of overspending, such as the
holidays. However, there are those who are incapable of sticking to a budgeted amount for each
expense. If you suffer from a shopping addicting or other psychological condition that causes you to
overspend, this issue should be addressed before you can begin sticking to a budget.
Eating Out For some people, eating out is a daily expense. Making wiser culinary decisions may not

A minimum of three months is suggested to track spending before formulating a budget. It is too easy
to underestimate how much is really spent on food and utilities without this valuable step. For
instance, many people spend more money on electricity in the summer due to the heat, and more on
gas, either natural or propane, in the winter months. The same goes for good. People tend to spend
much more on groceries during the holidays and these need to be taken into account when creating a
budget.
Written Budget Trying to keep track of expenses and income in your head is nearly impossible.
Without tracking spending and all forms of income, it can be too confusing. A proper budget should be
made, and it is as easy as creating a simple spreadsheet.
Annual Spending There are many expenses which you may not have included in your monthly budget,
which are annual. These expenses include: back to school shopping, birthday and holiday gifts, and
vehicle registration. Making a list of all annual expenses, dividing that number by 12, and adding it to
your budget will help keep your budget on

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is a historical fiction. It occurs some time in China
under a dynasty. Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we
covered in class. One event that happened was when Jen and her family travels through the desert and
were attacked by Lo and his Dark Cloud on horses. In my interpretation, I believe that Lo and his gang
of bandits, displayed some similarities to The Mongols. As seen in the movie, they rode and fought on
horses, were nomadic, and lived by raidings, which are things that Mongols are known for. They use
horses for mobility and height against their enemies. When Lo and Jen are in Lo s cave, he assumes
that she is part of a Han dynasty, but she corrects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier in the movie, porcelain and silk were displayed.
Normally in East Asia, silk and porcelain were apart of the Chinese trading goods to parts of Europe,
which we discussed in class. It s a historical fiction because, let s be real, there weren t any flying
Chinese people sword fighting in a bamboo forest nor on rooftops. Maybe some of the events were
inaccurate because the director, Ang Lee, was Taiwanese or wasn t so sure about the concept, so
instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. Also, I am not
so sure if they did tea ceremonies in China like they did in Japan, but in one scene in the movie, you
can see that Shu Lien purposely drops her tea while Jen catches it before it completely falls to the
floor. Shu Lien then figures that Jen is the one who stole the Green Destiny. As mentioned in a lecture,
we talked about Yin and Yang. I think that there could be some depictions of yin and yang inside the
movie. Since the movie is mainly female based, you could possibly see where I am coming from. Yin

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Green Day Working Class Hero
Ilian Garcia Gautam Emani ENGL 111G M06 September 22, 2014 Rhetorical Analysis Green Day:
Working Class Hero Green Day released a John Lennon cover song Working Class Hero the album

brought up and processed by the government. In this way the song is done to agree with the change of
generation, definitely they had a large portion of his audience positively respond to his message. In the
lyrics of Working Class Hero Green Day represents having full knowledge as to what the working
class must encounter throughout their lives. This aspect makes him seem more relatable and gains
ethos as they make it seem like they know firsthand. The members of Green Day are proud to come
from a background of laborers and from low income communities. By putting people in the video that

The Cap And Trade System
Cap and trade is a system aimed at diminishing the rate at which carbon is emitted into the atmosphere
by creating an economic system based on meeting a certain minimal threshold or paying low emitting
companies for the right to emit in their place. For example, if company A only emits half of the
emissions cap, that company can sell (or trade) the remaining credits to company B, should company
B choose to emit one and a half times the cap. A main objection to the cap and trade system is that it is
not a strong enough means by which to curb emissions of fossil fuels and is inferior to specifically
stronger carbon taxes. While initially appealing, the notion of simply strengthening carbon taxes fails
to properly stifle carbon emissions and to adequately incentivize green development in comparison to
the cap and trade system, preventing carbon taxes from occupying a central role to mitigate carbon
emissions. Carbon taxes are intended to drive down carbon emissions by creating a monetary cost to
specific levels of emissions. These taxes are intended to extinguish the profitability of the goods
associated with the emissions. While in theory, the passing of such taxes would stifle emissions, there
are no set boundaries for total production. Exxon, for example, experienced a net profit of roughly 45
billion dollars in 2013 (Isidore) and is responsible for roughly 3% of all industrial emissions, dating
from pre Revolutionary America (Greenpeace). While a carbon tax would

Analysis of Quantitative Study
Analysis of quantitative Study
Quantitative research entails quite a wide range of processes like the formulation of the research
equation, through the data collection up to the interpretation and analysis of the data collected. The
entire process has several stages that need keen attention and research discipline which is dictated by
the research ethics.
Within the scope of this paper, several factors that guide research process will be discussed and direct
reference made to the QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH REPORT: Measuring awareness and attitudes
among young Australians towards STIs, including HIV/AIDS which largely observed the various
tenets of research as will be discussed below.
The ethics in a research majorly concern the protection of the human participants in the process of
data collection. There are several measures that should be taken to ensure that the participants are
protected physically, emotionally and intellectually as well as personally if they choose to give
personal and sensitive information that should not be divulged by the researcher. The following are
therefore the varied ways of protecting the human participants during the research as discussed by
David B., (2011):
The researcher should strive to avoid putting pressure on the respondents that may lead to anxiety as
that will lead to either unpremeditated answers or involuntary participation. It is however prudent to
get the consent of the participant if the researcher foresees his questions

The population profile of Australia has created impacting changes to how health care in Australia is to

imposes more pressure on an overworked healthcare system (Willcox, 2014).
Future challenges for health industry leaders are to develop strategies, for delivery of inclusive and

Clients with complex needs could be left to navigate the health care system on their own, due to
limited resources and over stretched health workforce (Charlesworth, 2015). The World Health
Organisation (WHO) has reported that many chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes and heart
disease are preventable, creating a vast potential to develop a primary healthcare approach to address
these issues (World Health Organisation, 2013). Studies indicate that Australian indigenous
populations are over represented suffering with chronic diseases (Usher, 2011). In rural Indigenous
communities, the life expectancy is ten years less than the non indigenous populations, expressing the
inequity of a health system that cannot supply the skill share needed to promote health access or
provide comprehensive care to rural areas of Australia (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare,
2016).
Indigenous and Age related, Chronic and acute health issues within the rural communities are

Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos Essay
Ethos, Pathos, Logos
Some of the most famous writers from William Shakespeare to John Green have used three different
persuasive techniques for several years. Have you ever heard of ethos, pathos, and logos? In the
famous tragedy of Julius Caesar the author William Shakespeare uses ethos, pathos, and logos for
persuading something or someone. In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses these traits in Brutus s and
Antony s funeral speeches to persuade the citizens of Rome to hear them out. In the tragedy Caesar
was the emperor of Rome until his own senators killed him. The senators claimed they had to kill him
because he was getting to ambitious and it was getting worse. They had to save the citizens before
they start to get hurt by Caesar s actions. The most ethos, pathos, and logos takes place at the funeral
when Brutus and Antony talk about why Caesar had to die. Ethos, Pathos, and logos are all used in the
tragedy of Julius Caesar s funeral scene, some more effectively than others but they are all used to
persuade the crowd one way or another.

will not do them wrong; I rather choose to wrong the dead, to wrong myself and you, than I will
wrong such honorable men. (III.ii.122 124). Here Antony is using a strong sense of ethos because he is
showing his character by proving himself a worthy man to Rome. Brutus tends to really get the
audience appealed to his reasoning by using ethos which led to his success of winning the citizens

RFID System Analysis
Conventional passive RFID tags contain no internal power source, but instead harvest power from the
RF signal transmitted by the RFID reader system. RFID readers provide sufficient power in the
transmitted RF carrier signal to energize the tag circuitry through the coupled tag antenna. For a high
frequency RFID system, for example, the wavelength of the
13.56 MHz carrier is 22.12 m. The typical parallel resonant circuit of a tag antenna comprises the
inductance, resistance, and capacitance of the antenna loop (see Fig. 5) with resonant frequency.
Frequency = ଵ

In passive RFID systems, readers communicate with tags by modulating the amplitude, phase, or
frequency of the carrier, according to the specific design of the RFID ... Show more content on

mathematical formulae and determining the distance between the two vehicles is shown in code box 1.
The data obtained via ultrasonic sensor are processed by the microcontroller and the resultant is being

How Did Louis Zamperini Survive
The character of Louis Zamperini possesses the traits of resourcefulness and determination which
result in his survival. He demonstrates this through his problem solving and overcoming physical and
mental challenges. Louis Zamperini puts his problem solving and resourcefulness into use in moments
of scarcity. Zamperini experienced many difficult situations in which he must be creative. Louis and
his comrades were on a raft, with no food and an inadequate amount of water, and struggled to
survive. In the birds stomach they found several small fish, which they decided to use as bait, and with
them, Louis caught one more fish, (Hillenbrand 156). Louis receives very few chances to survive, and
Louis capitalizes on those opportunities.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green Essay
For this project, I decided to read The Fault in Our Stars, a novel written by John Green. This book is
about 16 year old Hazel Grace, who is diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She attends weekly Cancer
Support Group, where she meets Augustus Waters, a very intelligent and hot boy who is currently in
remission. They both take a liking for each other, their relationship growing and developing
throughout the book as they fight cancer together. Along the way, Hazel learns many important lessons
about life.
To begin with, this story takes place mainly in Indianapolis in the 21st century. The story also takes
place in hospitals, support groups in churches, as well as each other s homes. From this, I can
understand when Hazel describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This curiosity causes Augustus and Hazel to make a trip to Amsterdam to meet the author. During
their trip, Hazel finds out the Augustus s cancer has come back, which deals quite a huge blow to
Hazel. Sadly, Augustus passes away. I chose a rollercoaster to represent the plot because it
demonstrates how there are so many ups and downs in life. This takes us to the theme of the book.
I think the theme of the book was that you should always try to live every day to the fullest, as if it s
your last day. Don t spend your time mourning, but rather, cherish it. Even though Augustus finds out
before the trip that his cancer has relapsed, he decides to go to Amsterdam because he wants to make
the most of his time left. I chose a dragonfly to represent the theme because the dragonfly lives most
of its life as a nymph, flying only for a fraction of its life. The adult dragonfly only has a few months
to do everything that it needs to and wants to do. It lives its life and leaves the world without any
regrets.
The protagonist of the book is 16 year old Hazel Grace. She loves to read and watch reality TV shows
with her parents. She also is very witty, considerate and has a dry sense of humor. In my opinion, the
best symbol to represent Hazel would be a dog because dogs are intelligent, they can make you laugh,
and they re also really considerate. (They re a man s best friend!) Hazel is not

The Effects Of Leadership Style On Organizational Performance
Leadership style in an organization is one of the reasons that play a major role in attracting or hold
back the commitment and interest of the individuals in the business. Therefore a manager needs to
determine his leadership style, as it is one with the most energetic effects during individual and
organizational relations.
Different researches:
Leadership style has a considerable relation with the organizational performance, and different
leadership styles may have a positive or negative link with the organizational performance. A research
was done by Sun(2002) compared the leadership style with the leadership performance in enterprises
and school, and showed that the leadership style has a lot of positive correlation with the
organizational performance in both .Generally speaking that leadership performance is identical with
the organizational performance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Howell and Frost (1989) also said that there is a positive relation between leadership style and the

How Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects For...
Divorce is one of many controversial subjects in family and human development research. What
inspired me to critically analyze the article Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects for
Children? is the challenge it would be for me to put my bias aside considering I am from a divorced
home. After reading the article and analyzing it over and over, I can t help but think that the writer
answering YES to this controversial question overlooked many variables and over generalized his
findings and research. With Zinsmeister overgeneralizing his research, not considering enough
alternate explanations for long term negative effects divorce, and his lack of relevant information
needed to assess reliability and validity are why I find this article to be insightful but not accurate and
hope to show why.
In the introduction to the article, the authors David Gately and Andrew Schwebel best wrote Karl
Zinsmeister uses studies of children and divorce to argue against the contention made by many parents
that it is better to divorce than to rear children in a marriage with conflict. He maintains that children s
sense of stability and family structure supersedes parental needs. Throughout the article Zinsmeister
uses the headings Fear and Loathing of Divorce Among the Young , Short and Long Term effects of
Divorce on Children , and A Catalogue of Behavioral Changes as a platform to prove/explain his
opinions and back them by research.

I am very fond of a local business called the Bubble Bistro. This young lady s business is tailored
towards body care; she sells all natural products which she hand makes. She specializes in soaps, body

the month. She is advertised locally mainly by word of mouth but she has a huge presence on social
media via Facebook and Instagram. The owner is very forth coming and this business is credited a

I think group deals are very effective for one it helps the consumer save money depending on what is
being advertised. Everyone has different taste and different needs when it comes to purchasing power
especially with social media being in the rise and influencing the way we make purchase products.
According to (Tuten and Solomon), social media open exciting new windows for marketing research.
Whether to collect insights for the discovery stage of the creative process or to gather ideas for new
product development, social media provide new tools to listen to customers as they discuss their lives,
interests, needs, and wants . I am a huge shopper on Groupon and I like that I can save money on most
name brand products I am interested in and searching for. I often wondered how are deal sights able to
utilize so many products to advertise and sell at a good price. I realize that after so long so many
companies begin to drop prices and if it does not sell like in most discounted stores they send the
product to deal sights. The biggest investment for a marketer in my opinion is to find out what is
popular, what is the consumer wanting to purchase, and what is the hottest product to market. I think
the biggest job for any company is figure out what the people want, I mean take cell phones, we all

Public Enemies Movie Analysis
Director Michael Mann releases his movie Public Enemy to the public on July 1, 2009. This
nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) fascinates the viewers
with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold bravery of his gangster style bank robberies during the
Depression era of America s greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby Face Nelson (Stephen
Graham), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), and Evelyn Billie
Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal agents with their burglaries
through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) as
America s first Public Enemy Number One, Dillinger s brashness erupted even more. The enlistment
of FBI s top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), gave the instructional task of bringing in this
charismatic and troubling evildoer Dillinger dead or alive.
Nevertheless, this movie introduced us to this charming character Dillinger. The comparison and
contrast of the true realities verses the movie actually handles the injustices differently than what the
screen displays. Drama, bad boy image, lovers, and reckless abandonment of the law lures us to an
unrealistic reality to the

Pediatric Lab Assignment For this assignment, my groupmates and I decided to use the Peabody
Developmental Motor Scale. We chose this assessment because our patient was a chronological age of
thirteen months (premature 1 week, 9 days) and were aiming to look at her gross motor function in the
following areas: reflexes, stationary, locomotion, object manipulation. Our results provided us with
raw scores of: 12 for reflexes, 36 for stationary, 53 for locomotion and 1 for object manipulation. Due
to our patient, Olivia, being premature we decided to compare her percentile ranks to her
chronological age and her corrected age. Upon doing so, we found that our patient was in higher
percentile ranks for her corrected age than her chronological age.

Current Sources Of The State Of Indonesia
In Indonesia, petroleum is one of the main sources of the state revenues. It is also a very important
strategic commodity and often as political issue. The revenues from oil and gas have driven the
economic growth and contributed significantly for the development of Indonesia. In the world,
legislations which regulate oil and gas are varies from country to country. In spite of many variations,
in general, the upstream oil and gas activities, based on two systems, the production sharing contracts
and the licensing systems. Indonesia was the country that introduced the concept of production sharing
contracts in 1966 (Bindemann, 1999).
After the verdict of Indonesian Constitutional Court in 2012 on The Oil and Gas Law, some of the
articles were unconstitutional and not legally binding. As a result, the government and the parliament
want to revise the oil and gas law and led to the ideas of replacing the production sharing contract with
the licensing system. Nevertheless, before Indonesia adopts the new system, many aspects should be
considered in designing legislations. Some of the aspects are the concept of natural resources
ownership, revenues for the state, and attractiveness for the investors.
Mean while, as the owner of natural resources, the government has the rights to control and regulate
petroleum resources. The government would also have to balance its demand for maximizing the
revenues from oil and gas and adverse effect on investment climate. Thus, it should be

Charlie Chaplin Contributions
Charlie Chaplin was a very important British comedian, director, writer, and composer in the
entertainment industry during the 1920 s. He was born on April 16, 1889, in London, England. Both of
his parents were both in the entertainment industry, which would reflect how he became apart of the
entertainment industry, too. When he was 12, he would play the role as a paperboy in the show,
Sherlock Holmes. This would be his first ever stage show. After this, he would realize what he wanted
to do, and that was to become a comedian in vaudeville, which would also take him to the United
States in 1910 as a featured actor with the Fred Karno Repertoire Company. This would be the start of
a career that would last and be famous for it, too. As being part of the Karno troupe, he would get his
first tastes of America. He would also immediately grab the attention of Americans through his sketch
named, A Night in an English Music Hall. When the Fred Karno troupe left and came back to America
in the fall of 1912 for a repeat tour, Chaplin would be given the chance to be part of a motion picture
contract. He would finally agree to be apart of the movie at the end of his vaudeville promises in
November 1913. Once he was able to tear apart from the contract, he was able to do so much more.
Chaplin would end up joining Mack Sennett and the Keystone Film Company. There were also other
plays, such as his famous films, Making A Living, and also, Kids Auto Races at Venice. These shows

How to Patent a Website Idea: Everything You Need to Know
If you want to learn how to patent a website idea, it is important that you understand the steps
necessary to protect your website idea from others that may try to profit from your idea. For example,
a utility patent is the most common type of patent. It covers the functional aspects of an invention. In
order for an invention to qualify for patent protection, it must be useful, new, and non obvious. This
means that it must be have some sort of purpose, or otherwise, be useful to potential consumers. It
must be new, which means that the invention cannot be similar to another invention already patented.

Provisional Patents for Websites
A provisional patent application is filed with the USPTO and establishes an early filing date, but doesn
t amount to a formal patent application unless and until the applicant files a non provisional patent
application within the 12 months subsequent to filing the non provisional patent. A provisional patent
application is both less detailed and less costly. Immediately after you file your provisional patent
application, you can indicate that your website idea is patent pending. During this time period, you can
develop your website idea even further and turn your provisional patent application into a formal non
provisional patent application.
With a provisional application, you ll want to prepare diagrams and drawings of your website when
filing the application. When drafting the diagrams, consider the user interface itself, the software
generated process, and the administrative screens/cods/software used to maintain the website. Since
there are many unique business processes involved in your website, you want to keep each one
distinct, showcasing the unique methods and processes utilized, and how your website came together.
The more specific and detailed you can be, the higher your chance of patent protection. Always be
mindful that you can hire a qualified patent attorney to assist you with preparing your application. You
can even hire a professional to assist in the drawings,

Justice In Plato s The Republic Essay
Justice In Plato s The Republic
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote One man s justice is another s injustice. This statement quite
adequately describes the relation between definitions of justice presented by Polemarchus and
Thrasymachus in Book I of the Republic. Polemarchus initially asserts that justice is to give to each
what is owed (Republic 331d), a definition he picked up from Simonides. Then, through the
unrelenting questioning of Socrates, Polemarchus definition evolves into doing good to friends and
harm to enemies (Republic 332d), but this definition proves insufficient to Socrates also. Eventually,
the two agree that it is never just to harm anyone (Republic 335d). This definition is fundamental to
the idea of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he leaves no room for the common good in his definition, his life seems to allow for some
common good. This is based on his profession as an educator, whose job it is to share knowledge with
others and on his willingness to remain a contributing part of the discussion going on at the house of
Polemarchus
To determine which of these two definitions gives a better account of the good life it is necessary to
establish what this good life is. According to Socrates in the Apology it is the greatest good for a man
to discuss virtue every day ... for the unexamined life is not worth living (38d). What this statement
implies is that to live a good life we must first question and ponder our own ideas of a good life and
then do the same with other peoples ideas. In this sense Polemarchus s definition of justice most
closely fits the good life because he allows for a common good that would result from examining the
ideas of others and the sharing of information.
To further display that Polemarchus definition of justice gives a better account of the good life I put
forth my own definition of the good life . I have come to conclude through the lessons life has taught
me thus far that the good life is one composed of love and understanding. Love of one s self because
with this I can maintain a sound mind and body, but without it I cannot love others. Love of family

Hands Of Stone Psychological Theory
Hands of Stone is a 2016 film, directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz. The film is a biopic based on
Panamian boxing legend, Robert Duran, played by Edgar Ramirez. The film shows his rise from a
poor street boxer to a feared amateur known for his free spirit and early knockouts. In his quest for
greatness he meets the love of his life, Felicidad (Ana de Armas), illustrious boxing coach Ray Arcel
(Robert Di Nero), and goes head to head with American champion Sugar Ray Leonard (Usher
Raymond). Through the lens of basic needs theory, an individual s motivation is determined by how
well a situation fits the individual s needs (Fraser Thomas, 2017). More specifically in the domains of
autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Throughout the film, Duran experiences ... Show more

Autonomy involves feeling ownership over behaviour in such a way that one s actions stem from a
sense of perceived choice internal control (Fraser Thomas, 2017). Autonomy exhibits a positive
relationship with motivation, so when feelings of autonomy are low, motivation levels will decline
accordingly. It can understood that in the first fight with Leonard, Duran seeks and initiates the fight
on his own free will. During this fight when Felicidad, Ray, and what Duran perceives as all of
Panama is supporting him, his perceived autonomy is at an all time high and as a result so is his
motivation. He goes on to dominate Leonard and give him his first defeat to become world champion.
The second fight is a completely different dynamic. Since Eleta agrees to the fight without Duran s
permission, he feels violated. He is completely stripped of his autonomy because he no longer
possesses a sense of perceived choice and internal control. Furthermore when Leonard begins
insulting him at the press conference and his wife winks at Leonard, he begins to feel a loss of control
and that everyone is turning against him. Finally during the fight when he tells Ray he thinks the size
of the ring is rigged he displays a complete lack of autonomy. It leads to him forfeiting the match and
displays that without autonomy, motivation will be very low or even completely

Analysis Of The Movie The Asian Film And The...
Brian Hu, the Asian Film the Supernatural.
Fuck this shit. See you next year Cannes. Out . Is a bold twitter quote from the very famous Brian Hu
which gave a lecture at CSU San Marcos film class October 20th 2015. He is the artistic director of
Pacific Arts Movement and of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation who received his PhD in Cinema
and Media Studies at UCLA. His lecture presented grave insight into National cultural specifics but
emphasized mostly on China and Hong Kong. He also broke down genres as they play a role in the
film industry. Martial arts as a genre are very specific to Chinese cinema and Japan has samurai films
of loyalty and justice. As a genre, martial arts take place at a temples or a forest and is very culturally
specific. Other genres like body genres are specific to a body reacting to a film and no mater were you
are in the world you have a body. In Latin America they have mellow dramas called telenovelas that
people want to cry to and in Korea they have their own form of drama shows that they cry to as well.
Horror films often have us react with our bodies, for example: if you see something gross you feel it in
your body, and at the same time your body is reacting to the way the characters are. Other body genres
like comedy can have a reactional impact on your body as well. For example: if you see something
funny and you laugh, that is a body reaction.
Brian Hu emphasized that classic Hong Kong action films come from the massive influx

  • 2. Greek Hazing Research Paper Hazing in the Greek Life Life flipped upside down for Tucker Hipps when he did not have enough money to buy breakfast for his fraternity brothers one morning. September 22, 2014 Tucker Hipps was found dead after a fraternity run. Not only was this a traumatic experience for the campus of Clemson University, this devastating news hit my families heart s real hard. Tucker was apart of the Sigma Phi Epsilon ,and he was participating in an early morning group activity when things went bad. Tucker was last seen at the bridge, and it was reported he missed breakfast( WSPA staff). With investigations still going on with Tucker Hipps death, evidence is becoming more prominent. Seen on a webpage of anti hazing laws, the South Carolina law for consequences for hazing states, Once an investigation has been closed with evidence of people committing the act, the student can be dismissed, expelled, suspended, or punished by the schools president... (South Carolina). Depending on the seriousness of the event practiced and the leniency of the school, the school that the people commit hazing at can handle the situations differently. Also, the repercussions of hazing are going to be different for the student committing hazing and the student being hazed. This is important to think about when hanging out with your fraternity or sorority because tragic events to one another can be prevented. Peyton Arnett is a high school student ready to take on Greek life when she goes to college. Peyton states, When headed to my sorority, I have to pay a heavy fee to be apart of this group. I am terrified of the risk factor of hazing because I could get caught up into the acts. Then not only am I paying for my dues to be in the sisterhood but I would be paying for a lawyer to help me (Arnett). This statement turns into reality for many students at ... • 3. Theories Of Natural Selection Natural selection is the key to evolution. The difference in genotype from generation gives rise to key traits that help species survive and flourish. When these species reproduce, they pass on their genes to their offspring who then will be able to survive. Those species who don t have these key traits reduce in number because they don t possess vital traits that can help them survive nor can they pass on vital traits to their offspring. Charles Darwin was the person who came up with this theory and he discussed it extensively in his book The Origin of Species. This theory explains why we have so much species with distinct traits but what it doesn t explain is the evolution of neuter individuals. Neuter individuals can t reproduce so if they had any trait that gave them a foothold over nature, it cannot be passed on to another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The worker bees help the queen reproduce and have a reduced reproduction rate as a result. In Darwin s special difficulty; the evolution of neuter insects and current theory, Francis .W. Ratnieks reviews Darwin s discussion about altruistic worker insects and natural selection and connects them with some current ideas about altruism. This essay discusses Darwin s question: how can natural selection favor the evolution of sterile workers? At first, it seemed like worker bees presented a challenge to natural selection but after years of research, Darwin and other modern biologist formalized theories that explained the natural selection of worker bees. Modern biologist generalized Darwin s difficulty with these bees as a problem of altruism. They consider altruism to be a paradox because even though altruistic animals give up their fitness on behalf of other animals, they continue to evolve and survive. Natural selection states that the more fit animals are, the more likely they are to survive. Natural selection increases reproduction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Brief Look at Green Buildings According to Bauer, Peter, Schwarz (2010), green buildings represent a revolution in environmental sustainability and are gaining increasing acceptance in many organizations. Green buildings significantly reduce the incidence of workplace hazards and illnesses, which might increase the productivity and personal mood of employees. (Leaman, Bordass, 2007) assert that the natural world is a source of guidance and a mirror that often reflects back to the soul . The relationship between individuals and nature has various facets that include beauty, commodity, language, discipline, spirits, prospects and idealism. All of these facets support the inspiration and intuition of individuals. Therefore, a natural environment in the workplace can aid to lift the spirits of employees and this can have a positive impact on the personal mood of the employees (Smith Pitt, 2012). The concepts employed in the design of many green buildings can help employees to explore and gain intimacy to the immediate natural environment, which can improve their personal moods. Green buildings and a natural environment in the workplace also increases the personal mood of employees because they are able to enjoy fresh and improved quality of air (Leaman Bordass, 2007). Unsustainable building practices can contribute to an increase in pollutants that might have a negative effect on the health of the employees. With their health at risk, employees cannot perform optimally. The work environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Effect of Light Color on Plants Introduction Living organisms have been classified by humans according to several different characteristics, one of them being the manner in which they obtain nutritive organic molecules (1), in other words, their food. Plants are denominated as autotrophs, organisms that can produce their own food from abiotic sources surrounding them, such as light, carbon dioxide and water (2). Plants use these three factors in photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy, which is then stored until the plant needs it, or used right away (3). The process of photosynthesis takes place on organelles (substructures inside eukaryotic cells) called chloroplasts, more specifically, on the membrane of the thylakoids inside the chloroplasts, ... • 6. Black Swan Green Analysis In Black Swan Green, Jason Taylor s adolescence could best be described as a roller coaster, with highs, lows, and everywhere in between. He battles with hapless circumstances, ranging from a rigid relationship with his father to balancing popularity and ethics, all while combatting an internal issue of self consciousness due to a speech impediment. The significance of all the obstacles, conflicts and decisions is that they will determine what Jason will evolve into for the rest of his life. These scenarios epitomize the obstacles and pressures that a teenager encounters, and demonstrates how someone of that age grows while drudging through something that they ve never experienced before. One of the obstacles mentioned above, Jason s relationship with his father, slowly deteriorates throughout the novel and eventually ceases to exist. Before the relationship started to die out, Jason never seems to reach his father s standards, but when his father s relationship with his mum fails, Jason s father starts to fade away from Jason s life. In January Man Jason ventures into his father s office, in order to answer a phone, despite being instructed by his father specifically not to. The phone had been ringing endlessly, and Jason was trying to focus. So, Jason ventured into the office and answered. Somehow, Jason s father discovered and brought it up at Dinner. After admitting that Jason had done it, his father plagued him with questions like What s the rule about not going into my office? , What question did i just ask you? and Now why don t you answer this question? Jason is faced with the disincentive of questioning his father s legacy: his father has unachievable standards for Jason, but also falls short of Jason s standards for him. This leaves Jason unsure whether or not to listen to his father has taught him in his upbringing Mitchell first introduces the title of Hangman as a means of comprehending arguably the most influential difficulty that Jason faces, his stammer, while at the same time examining some of his underlying, discrete characteristics. Initially, Jason sees Hangman as a villain, trying to sabotage his general confidence, and constantly serving as an inhibitor towards what he views as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence, friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. Aquarius Constellation Research Paper My favourite costellation is the Aquarius constellation, which is in the Southern Hemisphere during the spring, while in the Northern Hemisphere during the fall. This is my favourite constellation because to me, it is the most beautiful and is one of the most important backgrounds. In my personal opinion, it also has the most meaning to it. The term Aquarius means Water Bearer or Cup Bearer in Latin. In Greek myth, there was a young man named Ganymede, who was a prince of Troy. He was supposedy extremely handsome, and in this way, caught Zeus eye. This is where the story splits into many versions, but I ll be covering my favourite. Aphrodite, who had been watching the youngling for the simple beauty of her voice, wondered if she was her child, or a grandchild, and one day approaced the young woman. The young woman s name was Catalina, and was curious about the goddess who stood before her. She respectfully bowed. Catalina was selfless for everything except for one thing her beauty. She wished to be the prettiest woman in the world. Aphrodite sensed this and devised a plan. If you collect me an apple of immortality from the Hesperides, then I shall grant you eternal beauty. Be warned: If you are to fall in love on this journey, then you will not be granted this, Aphrodite warned, but Catalina shook her head, desperate. So, she venturered far and wide to find the Garden of the Hesperides. One day, after many days of veturing, she found it, and only barely made it past Ladon. She snagged an apple and ran, only to hear someone screaming and grunting in pain. She eventually found Atlas, the titan cursed to hold up the sky. She grabbed a golden cup and squeezed the golden apple s insides nto the cup, mixing it into he water. She poured it into Atlas wounds and gave him the rest to drink, healing him efficiently. He drank it, and in the process, Catalina fell in love with the man. Aphrodite appeared, and shamed her for falling in love, as she would no longer have the gift of beauty. I don t care, as long as I may stay here with my love forever, Catalina said, amd Aphrodite smiled. You passed the test. grant you the gift of immortality and beauty, and name you Aquarius! He roamed an area of New South Wales from Bathurst to Forbes. What makes Ben Hall different from many other bushrangers is that he was never directly responsible for anyone s death. His parents were Benjamin Hall and Eliza Somers. Both of them had been convicted for minor stealing offences and transported to New South Wales from England. They married in 1834 and had multiple children. Ben was the fourth child. • 10. Homeschooling Advantages Is homeschooling the better option? Sure, it may not be for everyone. Maybe the disadvantages intimidate you. However, each decision we make, as parents, has at least one disadvantage. We must decide whether the advantages outweigh the cost. Therefore, before you jump to conclusions, let s take into consideration some of the benefits homeschooling can offer. Homeschooling is more cost effective. Homeschooling provides many benefits such as the elimination of bullying, better test scores, children can work at their own pace, and families have more time together. Homeschooling is more cost effective than sending children to public schools. In my area for students who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch, the price for each school year, per child, is $423 based on a 180 day school year. School supplies aren t cheap; according to the article Mommy Edition, schools usually send home a list of mandatory supplies that will be kept at the end of the year (2017). The cost of school pictures and year books can be anywhere between $25 and $100 per child. Then there are activities such as sports, clubs, and field trips. My parents despised the day I brought home a fundraiser packet. Public schools push this on parents because children see the prizes not the prices. One year I sold candy for a school fundraiser. My brother and I ended up eating more than I sold, and this left my parents having to pay $156 for what was missing. Otherwise, my grade card would have been withheld. ... • 11. Analysis Of Aphra Behn s Oroonoko Aphra Behn, since the start of story Oroonoko takes on an apologetic tone in her narration of the story. She starts of by apologizing (examples) as to the form of her writing and why she writes some parts of the story while omitting others. It is not fully understood whether when Behn refers to being a female pen she does so in a sarcastic way or with a deeper meaning, giving a double sense to her story. That although she writes about a male character, she decides to write and exalt those parts of his life that were influenced by a woman, making them as something as a very meaningful part of his story that influenced his actions, exalting the role of a woman in this great man s life. First of all speaking of the characterization of women in her story, we see that women are treated merely as objects and do not have the power to make decisions for themselves, they are mostly always under the strict rule of a man. Starting off with the character of Imoinda, we see that she only has a considerable power because of her beauty. It is because of her beauty and her shy manner that Oroonoko finds her so attractive, and therefore decides to marry her and have her as his only wife for the rest of his life. After getting married, Imoinda is called by the King of Kalimenes to join his multitude of wives. There is a great deal of self discipline that goes into solidifying a concrete spending plan.Unfortunately, not all possess this trait, and there are many reasons a budget may not be working the way it was intended to. Chronic Overspending There are times when most people are at risk of overspending, such as the holidays. However, there are those who are incapable of sticking to a budgeted amount for each expense. If you suffer from a shopping addicting or other psychological condition that causes you to overspend, this issue should be addressed before you can begin sticking to a budget. A minimum of three months is suggested to track spending before formulating a budget. It is too easy to underestimate how much is really spent on food and utilities without this valuable step. For instance, many people spend more money on electricity in the summer due to the heat, and more on gas, either natural or propane, in the winter months. The same goes for good. People tend to spend much more on groceries during the holidays and these need to be taken into account when creating a budget. Written Budget Trying to keep track of expenses and income in your head is nearly impossible. Without tracking spending and all forms of income, it can be too confusing. A proper budget should be made, and it is as easy as creating a simple spreadsheet. Annual Spending There are many expenses which you may not have included in your monthly budget, which are annual. Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we covered in class. One event that happened was when Jen and her family travels through the desert and were attacked by Lo and his Dark Cloud on horses. In my interpretation, I believe that Lo and his gang of bandits, displayed some similarities to The Mongols. As seen in the movie, they rode and fought on horses, were nomadic, and lived by raidings, which are things that Mongols are known for. They use horses for mobility and height against their enemies. Maybe some of the events were inaccurate because the director, Ang Lee, was Taiwanese or wasn t so sure about the concept, so instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. Also, I am not so sure if they did tea ceremonies in China like they did in Japan, but in one scene in the movie, you can see that Shu Lien purposely drops her tea while Jen catches it before it completely falls to the floor. Shu Lien then figures that Jen is the one who stole the Green Destiny. As mentioned in a lecture, we talked about Yin and Yang. In the lyrics of Working Class Hero Green Day represents having full knowledge as to what the working class must encounter throughout their lives. • 16. The Cap And Trade System Cap and trade is a system aimed at diminishing the rate at which carbon is emitted into the atmosphere by creating an economic system based on meeting a certain minimal threshold or paying low emitting companies for the right to emit in their place. For example, if company A only emits half of the emissions cap, that company can sell (or trade) the remaining credits to company B, should company B choose to emit one and a half times the cap. A main objection to the cap and trade system is that it is not a strong enough means by which to curb emissions of fossil fuels and is inferior to specifically stronger carbon taxes. While initially appealing, the notion of simply strengthening carbon taxes fails to properly stifle carbon emissions and to adequately incentivize green development in comparison to the cap and trade system, preventing carbon taxes from occupying a central role to mitigate carbon emissions. Carbon taxes are intended to drive down carbon emissions by creating a monetary cost to specific levels of emissions. These taxes are intended to extinguish the profitability of the goods associated with the emissions. While in theory, the passing of such taxes would stifle emissions, there are no set boundaries for total production. Exxon, for example, experienced a net profit of roughly 45 billion dollars in 2013 (Isidore) and is responsible for roughly 3% of all industrial emissions, dating from pre Revolutionary America (Greenpeace). • 17. Analysis of Quantitative Study Analysis of quantitative Study Quantitative research entails quite a wide range of processes like the formulation of the research equation, through the data collection up to the interpretation and analysis of the data collected. The entire process has several stages that need keen attention and research discipline which is dictated by the research ethics. Within the scope of this paper, several factors that guide research process will be discussed and direct reference made to the QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH REPORT: Measuring awareness and attitudes among young Australians towards STIs, including HIV/AIDS which largely observed the various tenets of research as will be discussed below. The ethics in a research majorly concern the protection of the human participants in the process of data collection. There are several measures that should be taken to ensure that the participants are protected physically, emotionally and intellectually as well as personally if they choose to give personal and sensitive information that should not be divulged by the researcher. The following are therefore the varied ways of protecting the human participants during the research as discussed by David B., (2011): The researcher should strive to avoid putting pressure on the respondents that may lead to anxiety as that will lead to either unpremeditated answers or involuntary participation. It is however prudent to get the consent of the participant if the researcher foresees his questions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos Essay Ethos, Pathos, Logos Some of the most famous writers from William Shakespeare to John Green have used three different persuasive techniques for several years. Have you ever heard of ethos, pathos, and logos? In the famous tragedy of Julius Caesar the author William Shakespeare uses ethos, pathos, and logos for persuading something or someone. In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses these traits in Brutus s and Antony s funeral speeches to persuade the citizens of Rome to hear them out. In the tragedy Caesar was the emperor of Rome until his own senators killed him. The senators claimed they had to kill him because he was getting to ambitious and it was getting worse. They had to save the citizens before they start to get hurt by Caesar s actions. The most ethos, pathos, and logos takes place at the funeral when Brutus and Antony talk about why Caesar had to die. Antony is saying that Caesar was always fair and only a friend like him would understand that. I chose a rollercoaster to represent the plot because it demonstrates how there are so many ups and downs in life. This takes us to the theme of the book. I think the theme of the book was that you should always try to live every day to the fullest, as if it s your last day. Don t spend your time mourning, but rather, cherish it. Even though Augustus finds out before the trip that his cancer has relapsed, he decides to go to Amsterdam because he wants to make the most of his time left. I chose a dragonfly to represent the theme because the dragonfly lives most of its life as a nymph, flying only for a fraction of its life. The adult dragonfly only has a few months to do everything that it needs to and wants to do. It lives its life and leaves the world without any regrets. The protagonist of the book is 16 year old Hazel Grace. She loves to read and watch reality TV shows with her parents. She also is very witty, considerate and has a dry sense of humor.
