Neuron Function
When a neuron is not sending a signal, it is at rest. When a neuron is at rest, the inside of the neuron is
negative relative to the outside. At rest, potassium ions are at higher concentration inside the neuron.
While there s a higher concentration of chloride ions and sodium ions outside of the neuron. There s
also negatively charged protein molecules inside the neuron, which cannot cross the membrane. When
the neuron is at rest, it has a resting membrane potential, voltage between the two layers, is 70mV.
When the dendrite of the neuron receives a stimulus, and when the stimulus depolarizes the cell to its
action potential threshold of 55mV an action potential will occur. If the neuron does not reach this
threshold level, then no action

MRSA Infections
The most popular options for MRSA infections include vancomycin, teicoplanin (see Marcone and
Marinelli, this volume), linezolid (see Zappia et al., this volume), and daptomycin (see Baltz, this
volume). Tigecycline (see Genilloud and Vicente, this volume) is also very active against MRSA,
while telavancin (a new lipoglycopeptide, see Marcone and Marinelli, this volume) and ceftaroline (a
new cephalosporin endowed with high binding affinity to PBP2a, see Leemans et al., this volume)
have been the most recent additions in the repertoire of anti MRSA drugs.
Moreover, a number of novel anti MRSA agents of various classes are found at various developmental
stages of the pipeline (e.g., dalbavancin, oritavancin, razupenem, omadacycline, and nemonoxacin) ...

aureus has a remarkable ability to develop antibiotic resistance, leading to four distinct resistance
waves that have occurred in the past sixty years. The advent of PRSA, then MRSA resistance has
resulted in a steady decline in the efficacy of these valuable antibiotics. The MRSA first emerged as a
nosocomial pathogen (HA MRSA; in the 1960s), then further surfaced as a community based infection
(CA MRSA; in the 1990s) and has subsequently increased the staphylococcal disease burden. It is a
global public health problem and represents the most commonly identified antibiotic resistant
pathogen.
The incidence of HA and CA MRSA infections as well as the prevalence of different MRSA clones
varies considerably among countries. Some MRSA clonal lineages are more frequently isolated than
others owing to their superior survival and transmissibility. The HA MRSA is endemic in many
hospitals worldwide. The CA MRSA has a smaller fitness burden, higher transmissibility and
virulence compared to HA MRSA and is epidemic in many countries.
MRSA has markedly influenced the empirical therapy for staphylococcal infections. Limited
therapeutic options are available for the management of these infections. Most β lactam antibiotics are
ineffective against both HA and

Industrial Melanism Of Biston Betularia
Industrial Melanism of Biston Betularia or the Peppered Moth in England has been a textbook
example of natural selection since it was first noticed. Before the industrial revolution the peppered
moth was most commonly found in the light colored Typica variety. During the industrial revolution
there was a significant rise in the dark Carbonaria form and a slight rise in the intermediate Insularia
form. Beginning in 1970 the Typica variety has been returning to the common variety of peppered
moth. This change has been assumed to be caused by increased predation on moths that did not blend
into the bark on trees (Cook et al 2012). Before the industrial revolution the trees were light colored
and covered in lichens and the Typica variety blended in well. The Carbonaria variety did not blend in
and was naturally selected against by birds praying on them. During the industrial revolution the trees
became darker due to soot and the lichens died. In this new environment Carbonaria had better
camouflage and the Typica was naturally selected against. Since modern laws have cleaned up the air
the trees are lighter again and the Typica variety is again being positively selected (Kettlewell 1956).
Melanism is a heritable trait that is dominant for Carbonaria and recessive for Typica. There is another
allele that is on the same locus for melanism. This allele forms the Insularia variety and is recessive to
the Carbonaria allele and dominant to the Typica allele (Cook et al 2012). Because

Why Surveillance Is Important
Surveillance occupies a major portion of the typical private investigator s day, and is one of their most
important tasks. Here are a few hints and tips for any new or aspiring private investigator to help
improve their surveillance skills:
It s not exactly thrilling sitting all night in your car checking on someone who says his recent accident
means he is house bound, while the insurance company suspects the claimant is still running a night
time taxi business from home. A colleague who specializes in this type of investigation says that,
instead of sitting up all night waiting to see if the person is working nights on the taxis, he places a
small coin on the top of the rear tyre of the car, then goes home to bed. If the coin is still there ... Show

But don t do this too regularly, in case the technique actually draws the attention you seek to avoid.
Investigators in quiet areas like villages and parks will find a dog a useful ally. After all, a man out
walking his dog can retrace his route, walk off the beaten track, and stop and stand still for a couple of
minutes, without making anyone curious.
The successful investigator never looks his subject in the eye; not for long periods, that is. Sunglasses
even if they are a bit of a cliché in detective movies are a good idea in appropriate places and at
particular times, as they mean you can look without giving the game away. At night or in the middle of
winter, however, they are certain to attract suspicion!
On a similar theme, never point your car directly at a subject. Park facing the other way, and watch
your subject through the rear view mirrors.
Finally, be patient. Softly, softly, catchee monkey Charlie Chan advised. And a large American
detective agency adds to its promotional literature: We do nothing quickly .

Alcatraz Prison Or Island
Alcatraz was a very famous prison located on a island in the San Francisco bay. It was used for many
different things over the years. All different types of people also stayed there, and not just the
prisoners. Life at the prison was bad in some ways but not as bad as you think. Many did try to escape
and failed, but some did succeed. However with every land some wanted it as much as we did.
Everyone knows of Alcatraz as a prison, but how did it become what it is today? The word or title
Alcatraz is derived from the spanish word Alcatraces (Federal Bureau of Prisons.) . Today we know
the term alcatraz to be defined as a pelican or strange bird using a dictionary. The meaning of these
words is debated. However it is also what we call Alcatraz Prison or Island. ... Show more content on

the growth the military in that area were forced to increase protection of the bay. They built a fortress

Evolution Of Mimicus Essay
Walking past a fancy poster of a famous model with the most amazing body, have you ever wished
you could change your body instantly to make it look like that model? The mimic octopus,
Thaumoctopus mimicus, is able to alter its body shape and colour to mimic up to 15 different species.
Although mimicry of background patterns and textures is a common defence mechanism for the
species under class Cephalopoda, mimicking of individual animals in the absence of the model is a
unique feature in T.mimicus. It chooses to make itself more conspicuous to predators by mimicking
high contrast colour patterned species. The mimic octopus is the best example of the Batesian mimics.
It is only found in the estuarine bays of Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a ... Show more content on

The order in which the T.mimicus lineage evolved was based on several key traits. The ancestors of
T.mimicus evolved the use of bold colour patterns as the secondary defence mechanism to shock and
surprise the predators if camouflage failed. Additionally, the long arms were developed which
facilitates the motion of flatfish swimming technique. Finally, an extremely risky shift in defence
strategy was developed as the T.mimicus began displaying the bold colour patterns while mimicking a
flatfish2. Dr Christine Huffard says that the close relatives of T.mimicus used drab colours and
camouflage quite successfully to hide from predators1. However, it is assumed that as a result of
natural selection, being conspicuous has allowed it to reproduce and survive more successfully than
some of its less conspicuous ancestors and eventually evolved into its own lineage (clearly shown in
Figure 1). The life span in captivity has been reported to be only months or even days with the highest
reported life span being less than a year. Commercial trade and pet trade of these octopuses could
seriously harm the population of the mimic octopus in the

Phantom Limb Pain
Furthermore phantom limb pain is simply a sensation of pain. A patient experiences the pain in an
affected extremity that no longer exists (McCance Huether). Although nerve fibers have the capability
to regenerate this is a time consuming process that does not always yield a fully functional nerve
(Subedi Grossberg, 2011).
Nociceptors are free nerve endings in the afferent peripheral nervous system (PNS) that selectively
respond to different stimuli. The differences are related to the stimulus which they respond to and the
properties of the nerve fibers associated with them. There are three types A, B and C groups based on
their diameter. There are numerous types of nerve fibers that have nociceptors. These are the free

Introduction
The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the
dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon
Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication
(Eunson 2012).
In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on
will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during
the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From there the
essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of these best
simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004)
Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon and
Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark
due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre edit and
then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message.
Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding,
and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the
message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and
Mark due to the factors mentioned before.
Context
Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012)
Conclusion
I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the
complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the
problems that need to be addressed.
Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out
of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message from
George is first pre edited

Fraud Examination ACT 565
Yuslizar Fanny (2600997)
Today, in current business world, fraud becomes a daily occurrence and it is a serious threat for all
organizations, whether they are partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies or even non
profit companies. Once perpetrators start to commit fraud, they will not stop by themselves, they will
continue and commit more with the bigger number as they realize how easy it is. Therefore, fraud
prevention program is very important for organizations since once a fraud has occurred then they will
need a big effort to deal with it. The organizations will not only lose assets but they will lose time,
legal fee, fraud investigator, negative publicity and other adverse consequences.
Fraud occurred in the Midwest Orient Import Export Corporation because there was no proper internal
control in the organization. The lack of segregation of duty policies is the root cause of the fraud in the
company. It is important that there are adequate segregation of duties involving custody, authorization
and control of documents in the organization. The accounts payable clerk should not have the sole
authority to record transactions, write all checks, and reconcile the bank account. The account payable
manager should have the authorization duties in order to monitor all transactions recorded by the

Dry toilet systems were presented as innovative technology sanitation system in the project applied in

the funds and experts which are part of the government health institutions with low participation of

urine and fecal feces in different containers without connection to sewage systems, however end user
participation is high because of the different tasks to compose fecal feces.

What role does matter play in making social worlds secure or insecure?
The aim of this essay is to illustrate the role that matter plays in making social worlds secure or
insecure.
This introduction will give a brief overview of what this essay will include, also giving brief

To discuss the role that matter has in the securities and/ or insecurities of social worlds, this essay will
use examples which are discussed in the DD308 course book Security: Sociology and Social worlds.

All this has added to the growing popularity of the Harry Potter brand that is everywhere today. Young
readers can relate to Harry s issues and the books create another world the readers can subconsciously
escape too.
The Harry Potter stories are a great example to show how matter can affect the social world s people
live in and can be used to demonstrate the power branding can have on the world around us.
Due to the massive popularity of the books, Warner decided to capitalise on their popularity and turn
them into films, and due to the movies, paraphernalia and huge cult following, the Harry Potter
franchise is worth an estimated £2.2 billion (Simmons, 2005). The Harry Potter franchise is a good
example of the theory of psycho social (the psychological relationship readers have with the books)
and also we can see how the franchise plays on these feelings to mediate messages to various social
and cultural groups, by looking at this franchise one can see how inner emotional security is
developed and used for profitable gain.
Another example of people s insecurities being used for profitable gain which is addressed in the book
Security: Sociology and Social worlds. (Carter et al, 2008) is that of Gated communities and SUV S

Nannerl Influence On Mozart s Birth
Nevertheless, Nannerl remained a powerful influence to some of Mozart s greatest operas. In Così fan
tutte and Le Nozze di Figaro, the Countess and Fiordiligi find themselves standing at odds with the
social norms when they challenge the dominance of powerful men. Perhaps, the characters are
influenced from the relationships Mozart witnesses in his family. Unlike the heroines in his operas,
Nannerl chose to remain silent and submissive, never challenging Leopold s wishes, despite her
personal feelings. Despite her weak nature, Nannerl was rational, shrewd, and responsible, which
perfectly depicts the Countess and Fiordiligi. The difference between Mozart s heroines and Nannerl
lies in the ability to overcome adversity and fight for their beliefs, something that Nannerl never
accomplished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

difficult for Anna Maria to endure the absence of her husband and son while constantly being

Difference Between Nature And Nurture In Language
Nature and nurture both play significant roles in a child s development of language. Many scholars
(such as Coulmas 1989 as cited in Christie, 2005) agree that the human brain is designed for language,
yet they also state that it is learned because of relationships and interactions with those around them
for example a child s parents (Christie, 2005). There are four major aspects of language development:
phonology the sound structure of speech, syntax grammatical rules, semantics meaning of words and
phrases and pragmatics using language to communicate. Theorists and scholars alike have debated
nature versus nurture for many years, however it s not nature or nurture but rather an interplay of the
two creating a unique development of language for children (Caton, Brisbane, Australia).
Phonological development is the ability to be able to identify individual sounds and combine them
into spoken words. From three months, babies will start to recognise their parent s voices, and by four
to seven months babies will be able to recognise change in tone as well as respond to sounds such as
music. As babies start to develop language they will start to form phonemes together e.g. mama, dada.
The environment plays a big role in the early language development of a child, as the behaviourist
perspective states children start to learn language through operant conditioning repetition and
imitation followed by positive reinforcement and classical conditioning children

Walmart s Argumentative Essay On Food Stamps
In last week s activity, we had to put ourselves in the shoes of a parent with a nine year old child, who
relies on food stamps in order to eat every week. We had forty two dollars to spend on groceries from
the food stamps and had to make it last a week. Our strategy consisted of picking the cheapest types of
food we could find that had a lot of servings, while also making sure the nutrition was somewhat
sufficient to keep us healthy. We used Walmart to shop for groceries since it had the cheapest prices
compared to local grocery stores like Publix. Planning out the meals, we realized that living on only
forty two dollars a week for food really limited the variety of our diet. We realized that having a child

When more and more food stamps are being issued, the economy just looks weaker and weaker, as
there must be less and less jobs around at the time. Also, while not always true, some people that rely
on food stamps might not be motivated to work a lot since they are being fed for free, and simply to
not need work. This creates an unhealthy dependence on the government, which may destroy
motivation to work since these people can freeload of the government for food, hurting the economy.
The system should help those in poverty get up on their feet instead of babying them for their entire
life. Another problem with food stamps is that they are a little too generous for the people who are
capable of work. During the activity, we learned that getting enough food to get us by was not very
difficult. While a large variety of foods wasn t available, the amount of food we could purchase was
more than enough for a welfare system. This just makes it easier for dependence, since there s not a
ton of motivation due to all of the free meals. This a problem because the taxpayers have to continue
to pay for people who aren t motivated to get out of

The Pros And Cons Of Volunteer Fire Departments
Volunteer fire departments everywhere have staffing problems. If you take a drive past any fire
department you will probably see a volunteers needed sign. A fire chief in Pennsylvania stated I would
like to have a greater turnout of firefighters on scene than what we currently have, he said. We have a
lack of volunteers who are able to respond during daytime hours (Shawgo, 2014, p. 17). There are
several reason that there is not as good of a turnout as there used to be. Back in the 1970s and 1980s
the thing to do in town was to hang out at the fire house. There was not as much going on as there is
today. People today want to spend more time with their family and go out to the movies or mini
golfing, things that family s did not do as much back in the day. The average amount of training that a
volunteer must go through is about 130 hours. Most people see that as too much time to sacrifice.
Also, in today s economy many people work a second or even third job in order to make ends meet.
There are also more single parent households then there used to be, which does not allow for hardly
any time to volunteer. Due to the reasons stated above it is very difficult to properly staff fire trucks in
volunteer departments. The average age of members continues to increase. The few people left who
still find time to volunteer often work a regular job during the day, which makes day time emergency
calls even harder to respond to with proper staffing. The typical fire truck holds 6

Chivalry Code
However, Chaucer not only recognized pride within the hierarchies of the common man, but also
recognized the immorality of the knighthood. Knights were usually born into their class and raised to
serve their lords, thus decorating them with a sense of nobility and pride (McLean and Signman 18).
Because of their role of protection, knights were commanded to adhere to a code of conduct.
According to the book, What Life Was Like In the Age of Chivalry, this code of conduct was
constructed by the king and enforced the idea of a strict sense of honor, morale, and duty (53). This
code of conduct was vital for the morality of the knights and was commonly believed to be a
mechanism used to elevate the status of women; however, according to Natalie Demasi, chivalry isn t
about women at all. It is a code written for knights, for the men. Chivalry s true purpose was meant to
elevate the religious and social status of male knights, not the women. This ... Show more content on

knight; however, despite the love they share, Dorigen still barters a deal with another squire for her
love. Chaucer was able to recognize the irony within the knighthood and thus produce a tale in which
the Knight, haughty in his mindset of his social status, did not realize the unfaithfulness of his own
wife. Because the knights were regarded as the ideal warrior and man, pride naturally formed in their
behavior. Therefore, Chaucer portrayed the hypocrisy within their ideals and attacked the knighthood

After School Dropouts
Do after school programs help close the academic gap in African American and Latino middle school
students?
Many middle school students who are failing academically will become part of the ever increasing
drop out statistics in our nation. More than 7000 students in the U.S.become dropouts every school
day, nearly 1.3 million students per year. It is estimated that dropouts from 2006 alone will cost
taxpayers $17 billion in Medicaid and uninsured medical expenses alone over the ir lifetimes
(Alliance for Excellence Education, 2010). Sadly, dropouts often have children that become dropouts
and a cycle is created which continues (Dropout and TruancyPrevention,2011). Given these statistics

Young adolescents offer afterschool providers a special set of challenges which they must overcome in
order to attract and retain participants. For example, young adolescents are more autonomous, busier,
better able and more likely to articulate specific needs, and less appeased by activities designed for a

afterschool, programs must recognize the needs of these youth and employ innovative strategies to

The goal was to also gain a better understanding of the perceptions of administrators, teachers, and

began. When slavery was brought to Trinidad, it caused the people of Trinidad to become depressed
along with the rest of the world. When the British decided to join the colonies Trinidad and Tobago,
Trinidad s sugar economy started to collapse. With the collapse of the economy and commodity prices
rising, workers started to riot in Trinidad. Together these made the people and the colony of Trinidad
difficult to work and live.
While researching these topics, I used history articles and nonfiction books. I used these because they
gave me the most useful information for my topics. They helped me have a better understanding of
how the British and how imperialism affected Trinidad and it s people. Having the right and the best
information will make for a better paper.
Imperialism is a type of government that seeks to increase its size, either by forcing (through war) or
influencing (through politics) other countries to submit to their rule. While researching about
imperialism, I found that many articles explained how imperialism affected this colony in a way that I
understand it.
Slavery in Trinidad is the first reason to why imperialism in Trinidad was negative. For example,
Between 1518 and 1870, the transatlantic slave trade supplied the greatest proportion of the Caribbean
population (Countrystudies.us). This explains that Trinidad s slave trade was so bad, that the
development of their colony was ten times harder. The slavery that the British began in Trinidad,
became a major cause for how bad Trinidad s development would be. Another example of how slavery
affected Trinidad, Even after the end of slavery and apprenticeship the Caribbean was not totally free.
Former enslaved people received no compensation and had limited representation in the legislature s
(Nationalarchives.gov.uk). Even though the slaves did not have to work anymore, their lives in
Trinidad still were not the best that they could have been. The slave trade was a big part of why the
people of Trinidad suffered from depression that was happening all over the world.
Depression in Trinidad was the second factor that contributed to how negative

Main Ideas and Themes of Beowulf Essay
Beowulf and Sir Gawain have many things in common. We will be discussing them later on, but their
main similarity is that they re both heroes. A hero is a person who must pass through a test and a battle
(mental, spiritual or physical) to help someone else. He must be selfless, and act for others rather than
himself. All societies have supported heroes, like the ancient Greek s Hercules and the modern day
Spiderman. These are hero stereotypes, with supernatural powers. Heroes don t have to be stereotypes,
but can be firemen, policemen or soldiers. Two famous heroes in ancient literature are Beowulf and
Sir Gawain.
Beowulf is about a guard who must destroy a destructive monster who has ... Show more content on

Beowulf s test is to defeat the evil creature Grendel, protecting his hall and soldiers. Sir Gawain s test
is to resist temptation to steal a magic belt, and steal the master s wife! Even though both tests are
different, Beowulf s test and Gawain s test both test courage. The courage to take on a monster and the
courage to resist stealing and keeping you re word! In the end, both succeeded, Grendel was killed,
and sir Gawain received his blow, and stayed alive, but both had consequences. Beowulf s friends got
killed, and later on Grendel s mother attacks him, and sir Gawain had been given a cut to his neck, and
lost his honor.
The test the heroes have to face, is often put up by a villain, and both have their fair share of villains.
In Beowulf the enemy is a dark monster, which eats human and has super strength, enough to bend
iron. In Sir Gawain, the apparent villain is the green knight, who challenges sir Gawain to a grueling
beheading contest . After it s head falls off, he is not harmed, so he has some weird magical qualities.
Both have supernatural powers and striking appearances, but the difference is that in sir Gawain and
the green knight, the green knight is just the master of the kingdom in disguise, testing the nobility of
King Arthur s knights, and not a mortal enemy.
The main difference in the two poems is the

Tourism And Tourism In Dubai
Dubai has been considered, globally, as one of the fastest developing regions of the twenty first
century. Goves and Go described Dubai in their report (2009:73) as riding the waves of globalization,
having firmly established itself in less than fifteen years, as an important node in the network of global
flows . Dubai s strategic expansion has been factored towards its large influence within the tourism
and leisure industries instead of the competitive oil markets in which its neighbouring countries like
Saudi Arabia and Qatar are known for. Leisure, as defined by Page and Connell (2010:10) describesw
leisure not as a singular discipline, but as multiple factors which incorporate elements of geography,
sociology, economics, politics, history and psychology, thus it can be difficult to fully define the term
leisure however often it has been associated with times of relaxation or non work time for many
travellers. To fully evaluate Dubai s position as a suitable leisure industry this essay will explore the
framework proposed by Dimitrios Buhalis in his paper The Competitive Destination . Firstly, I will
outline the activities and attractions available within Dubai, highlighting its reputation for achieving
the biggest and best of architecture and entertainment. Next, I will explore how effective Dubai is as a
functional residential region by drawing attention to its ancillary services such as the police, internet
and banking alongside its overall accessibility through

Essay on The Gutting of Couffignal Analysis
The Gutting of Couffignal is a crime story written by Dashiell Hammet. It is about the robbing and
stealing of bank, Jewelry stores and wedding presents on the island of Couffignal. Couffignal is a
small island connected by a wooden bridge to the mainland. The main street contains bank, hotels,
jewelry stores and other usual stores. The higher part of the road lives the owners and rulers of the
island. One of the rulers, The Henderixson family is having a wedding and they hired a detective to
guard the valuable wedding presents. However, the criminals used various strategies to steal the
presents, but they did not succeed at the end. Consider the opening of the story, the story begins with a

I was sitting in a secondstory room in Couffignal s largest house. This shows that he must be one of
the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to do with
the content of the story. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the narrator is the
detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the
Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The narrator is the
detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is
weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to
protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the
presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the
reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that
the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph
8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex president of a South
American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central
European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader would want to know who are
the people involved in the story. By giving a brief

Introduction The wreckage caused by the Exxon Valdez oil spill which occurred nearly twenty eight

produced by human hands. Along with the disaster which will be covered in detail, this paper will

Once a strategy is finalized the procedures should be performed repeatedly so that they become part of
rote memory. Doing so will curtail the loss of lives as well as business utility. The fifth phase of
developing a disaster recovery plan is to identify and train disaster recovery teams. George Reynolds
states, Three disaster recovery teams are needed the control group, the emergency response team, and
the business recovery team. The control group makes all pivotal decisions, directs and positions both
the emergency response team and business recovery team. Communication between all groups usually
from an emergency operations center is orchestrated by the control group. Members of these three
groups are selected by both experience and their ability to handle stressful situations. By training
employees in disaster recognition as well as response a semblance of order can be maintained while
the world is in complete tumult. Ultimately, the plan must be practiced as well as updated so that it is

During the visit to the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, I was able to tour the facility
and also meet and speak with employees and patients. When I arrived at the center, my first interaction
was with the assistant director of activities whose name was Madison. Madison has been officially
employed at this facility for two years but has been involved for many years since her mother is the
admissions director at the center. She was able to answer the majority of the questions other students
and I had about the daily functioning of the facility. After interviewing Madison, I took a tour of the
facility and spoke with two patients. The purpose of this paper is to reflect and share my insight from
interviewing the employee and two patients, and the observations I noted after the completion of a
three unit tour. Additionally, it is necessary to relate my experience to the content learned in class and
compare the similarities between the classroom work and the reality of the older population.
Daily Life of the Patients
To begin, Madison described the daily activities of the patients in the facility. She stated that patients
typically rise around 6:00 a.m. and a certified nursing assistant helps the patients bathe, brush their
hair and teeth, and get ready for the day. From there, some patients go to therapy while others go to
breakfast around 8:45 a.m. The patients then participate in morning activities such as reading the

The Scramble for Africa
What was the Scramble for Africa?
The Scramble for Africa was a period of time where major European countries fought over and
colonized land in Africa, stretching from South Africa to Egypt. The scramble for Africa began shortly
after the slave trade, and ended at WW1, and is a strong representation of the New Imperialism . The
first country to act was Belgium, who colonized Congo at 1885, but soon, other countries such as
Portugal and Great Britain joined in in order to not miss out. Firstly, the European could not colonize
Africa easily, due to Africa s giant land mass and the diseases that spread throughout the land. But
then, came the Steam train, Maxim guns and new cures for diseases that paved the way for the

African kings were also uncivilized and barbaric and most of them were a long time before their age,
with the exception of some, most famously Shaka, the king of the Zulus in pre scramble Africa. And
on top of all that, there were some mercenaries fighting for the Europeans.
The Africans fought each other:
African warlords were actually fighting each other during the scramble for Africa, while the treaty of
Berlin kept the European countries from doing the same, even though they had a scandal over
Ethiopia, and thus resulting in a double war for many of the Africans, which had made the war much
harder than it should have been for them.
Europeans had obviously better technology:
One of the most obvious and dominant factors of how did European countries colonize Africa was the
fact that they had much better weapons and technology to fight with, such as the invention of the
steam train, steam boat and the Maxim gun, while the African tribes were using sticks, swords and
spears Europeans were using nearly 2000 years ago as Greek warriors. Apart from weapons,
Europeans also had the more advance medical technology used to heal wounded soldiers or the sick.
How has this affected Africa and the world?
Change in Geographical Order:
For many years, African tribes ruled Africa with their own borders of the empire. Until the Europeans
came along, the tribes ruled their empires land as they pleased, with no third

The country of Netherlands is lowland and a lot of it is water. The size of Netherlands is 41,526 square

The Benefits Of Genetic Counseling
What is genetic counseling? What is a genetic counselor? Those questions and more are some things I
remember thinking about in my sophomore year chemistry class. I was so intrigued, yet I had no idea
what any of it meant. At the time, I had no idea how common they were, and just how much genetics
advanced every day while I was clueless.
Our genes are what make us who we are. Humans share 99.5% of our DNA with each other. That
means that every piece of DNA that makes us different is only .5% of our total DNA. A nucleus is a
large organelle of a cell that holds almost all of the cell s DNA (Tortora, Grabowski). In the nucleus of
every human cell, DNA is tightly packaged into a structure called a chromosome (U.S. National

Arguments Against Altruism
Altruism and profit are often at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to medicine and health
care as a whole. Altruism is the belief and practice of self less concern for others over a person s own
self. One of the biggest problems in our health care system today and possibly even during Henrietta s
time is that medicine and health care as a whole are so commercialized and are only concerned with
earning a profit. Henrietta s cells were stolen without any notice and her family was not compensated
for this crime. Eventually Henrietta s cells became so important and eventually earned researchers
millions of dollars. The theft of her cells had nothing to do with Henrietta as a person, but rather the
doctors and researchers wanting to make a dollar off of a dead woman s cells. Dr. Gey and others did
not know that Henrietta s cells were going to change medicine but the fact that they did change
medicine and no compensation was given to Henrietta and her family show that many doctors are not
concerned with their patients, they are more concerned about their paycheck and whether or not they
will be remembered in history forever. Out of all of Henrietta s children, Zakariyya was the absolute

Wohl s Theory Of Health And Social Care
Wohl (1983) produced a well researched and documented account of public health and development in
Britain; starting from the middle of the 19th century to the early 20th century. The author eloquently
described the horrendous and devastating levels of the nations poverty and poor health. Within
Victorian society few people were free from illness/disease, average lifespan, stench and impurified
water. The shift in socioeconomic differences, intolerable living conditions and significantly poor
working conditions took on an added dimension because of the increasing number of rural residents

conceived, develop, live, work and age and which can prompt health inequalities. It attracts further
thoughtfulness regarding that a greater number of people are living longer, however spending more
time in illness due to things such as poverty, lack of equitable service etc. The report, titled Fair

It contends that, customarily, government strategies have centered assets just on a specific areas of

The Thin Ideal Is Being Pushed On Children
Now that it has been proven that the thin ideal is being pushed on children, children as young as 5, one
should know the possibly consequences of its exposure. When children are constantly being shown
one certain ideal, it soon becomes internalize, which leads to behaviors that often go unnoticed by
parents. While these behaviors may seem harmless at first glance, they can be part of a bigger
unhealthier problem. In a study were young girls played with dolls with different body proportions,

Clearly people have begun to more active, but more has to be done. Parents should get together and be
more involved with the type of media they expose their young girls and boys to. In the world of social
media, smart phones, and the Internet, there are now more ways than ever for companies to push
dangerous imagery towards children. Toys and dolls are not the only way for a child to be targeted,
and parents need restrict what their children are exposed to. It is impossible to shield ones child to
everything, but watching what toys you buy them, and what kind of media they watch at home is a
good way to start. Promoting body positivity and healthier body images are ways to stop your kids
from developing eating disorders, and self esteem issues later in life. Parents play a huge role in
shaping how kids think and feel about their bodies. Starting to bolster kids body image early, even in
preschool, can make a big difference in how kids feel about themselves as they grow up. (Filucci)
Teaching young children how media can be manipulative can be a very important way to help them
avoid internalizing harmful imagery, such as the thin ideal. Communities should demand media
illiteracy be taught in middle schools and even elementary schools. One should not have to wait until
they are in high school or college to learn about the dangerous tactics that are used in the media, to
indoctrinate the public. We know that children can

Aggressive Action Vs Nonviolence
Back before the Civil War, people wanted to know which way is better to free slaves, aggression
action or the nonviolence way. The question is, should people use a more aggressive action or should
people be nonviolent in their actions? People might disagree with using peaceful tactics because they
believe that slave owners deserve what has come to them for decades. The people should go in a more
nonviolence way because if they kill the slave owners then they will just be dropping down to their
level and revenge is never a good thing. Peace should not equal war. Why do people think if someone

Garnet s speech, Call to Rebellion, to slaves in the United States, As a result of Vesey s threatening
plan, the slave states seriously considered freeing the slaves. If slave owners fear that the slaves and
people who are against slavery might do something, then they might consider on freeing the slaves.
Even though this almost worked, threatening to do harm is wrong and using a more nonviolent way is
better, so no war starts. If both sides fight it out, it is going to be in complete chaos. To be free, the
slaves and the people who are against slavery need to use peaceful tactics and nonviolence. If the
slaves and people who are against slavery fight and use violence a lot of innocent people are going to
die and that is not fair. Peace is being kind to one another and talking it out not war and

Analysis Of Farenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
The book Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about a fireman named Montag. Montag changed his
whole life around because of books. This book is taking place in a dystopian society where nobody
reads books everyone is watching TV which is there family . Firemen burn down houses, in school
you don t really learn if you do its not valuable learning. If you do have books and the firemen find
out you will die and destroy the book. This book is about the fireman Montag who starts reading
books and sees the society he lives in is wrong. At the beginning of this book there is quote which is If
they give you rules paper write the other way by Jaun Ramon. This quote explains this whole book.
The fireman Montag really does follow the way of the quote. At the beginning Montag was just a
regular citizen in this dystopian society. He watched TV went to his job and burned houses and went
home to his wife. We can tell he was like everyone because the book opens with this It s a pleasure to
burn (Bradbury 1). He was a regular fireman who liked to burn houses like the rest of them do. One
night he was walking home from working at the firehouse and he saw someone and started to follow
this person because usually nobody is out at this time. He found this person named Clarisse she
changed Montag s whole life. She made him look at the world in a different way and made him think
about other things besides TV and burning books and she challenged his thinking. Montag before he

Cases Concerning Fundamental Breach And Non Delivery
3. Cases concerning fundamental breach
3.1. Non delivery
The failure of the seller in delivering the goods is almost always considered to be a fundamental
breach. This could be exemplified by a decision of Hamburg arbitration award, whereby a seller from
Czech and buyer from Germany disputed over an advance payment for the goods and delivery. The
seller suspended delivery of the goods claiming advance payment, whereas, the buyer requested for
avoidance of the contract due to non delivery. The tribunal held that, advance payment should not be a
ground to suspend delivery, therefore, confirmed the request of the buyer to avoid the contract. Similar
view has been held by an arbitration tribunal in China whereby, failure of the seller to ... Show more

In addition, the type of goods to be delivered should also be taken into account when determining late
delivery as a fundamental breach. For instance, in the case between Italdecor s.a.s v. Yiu s Industries
(H.K.) Limited, the buyer claimed for avoidance of the contract and refund of the purchase price for
the knitwear ordered due to the late delivery. The appellate court of Millan held that, although fixed
after the contract was concluded, time was important as the goods were to be sold at the end of the
year s sales. Therefore, the seller has committed fundamental breach and confirmed the buyer request
of avoidance, restitution of the already effected payment along with interest.
On another case involving summer cloths it was held that, a late the delivery by one day would not
constitute a fundamental breach.
Although, there seems to be a general agreement as to mere late delivery not amounting to
fundamental breach; it still would be challenging to reach at a conclusion as to what accounts as mere
and substantial late delivery in terms of days.
3.3. Non conforming goods
Article 35 of the CISG deals with conformity of goods. It specifically obliges the seller to deliver the
goods as stated in the

Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Reality
Everyone can say they have fallen into a deep sleep and have had a series of thoughts, images, and
sensations occur in their mind. We often times combine elements to stimulate emotions in a more
advanced way. Many can say they have awoken in terror, or never wanted the thought to end. But can
you recognize reality from fantasy? There is much to wonder in the world of sleep and daydreaming.
Neural bustle in the primary sensory areas of the neocortex (a part of the cerebral cortex concerned
with sight and hearing in mammals, regarded as the most recently evolved part of the cortex.) create
the premonition of a sensory perception: the production of a dream. The elaborate detail and imagery
make it strenuous to identify what is reality. For in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He lost consciousness and was dead, but was suddenly awakened, and felt a sharp pain. He was flung
into the forest and shone golden stars grouped in odd constellations. Farquhar began to hear distinct
unknow whispers. Now unveils another scene seen by Farquhar. He stands at the gate of his home, his
arms extended wide and he sees his beautiful wife. For this was all a fantasy. His imagination of his
great escape had never happened. For his mind used such distinct and vivid details that Farquhar
believed this was all reality. In An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Ambrose Bierce uses symbolism
combined with irony, vivid details, and similes to build a mood.
Symbolism plays a salient effect in that it builds a mood. The bridge and the driftwood are the two
most vital symbols in the story. Through the symbolism irony is created, setting the situation
differently than anticipated. Peyton Farquhar, a civilian, passionate about the Southern cause was
tricked by an union scout, and drawn to the bridge where a Union blockade was stationed. A bridge
can be used to exemplify the bringing of two parts to unify them as one. The irony associated with the
symbolism of the bridge did not represent the bringing of both the Northern and Southern cause
during this time of

The Pros And Cons Of The Sandwich Generation
In many families in our society today, the parents are a part of the sandwich generation and now are
raising kids that are growing up to take part in the boomerang generation. The sandwich generation
makes up of people who are in their thirties or forties that are trying to raise their own children while
looking after their elderly parents. On the other hand, the boomerang generation consists of young
adults who graduate high school and college to only come back and live with their parent and rely on
their support. As a result of this, there comes many challenges for both the parents and the child since
the sandwich generation is stuck in the conflicting nature of taking care of their elderly parents while
providing for their children by meeting their needs of emotional love and providing tangible needs.
However, many realize that their kids are entering into adulthood and now these parents face the
challenge of pushing their children to be independent and take on responsibility while trying to secure
a stable retirement. Not only that, but many parents are postponing their retirement because they are
helping their young adult children with their debts, studies or their housing. This can be very costly for
the parents since they oftentimes have to worry about their own future and the costly expenses that
come with retirement, and to provide for their kids who are currently relying on their support. This
situation is even worse if the parents are a part of the sandwich

Pushing Social Change And Toppling The Patriarchy Essay
Pushing Social Change and Toppling the Patriarchy
Television remains an important medium in exposing the viewing public to marginalized ideas, life
styles, and varied ways of thinking. Unlike a film, which usually takes place over a self contained two
hour period, television offers more screen time over the arch of seasons to explore characters and
themes in deeply meaningful and personal ways. Aided by its structure and format, television
programs are able to touch people, helping to change how we all view the world. In recent years, and
amongst the explosion in popularity of platforms such as Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix, willing to take
risks on shows and themes previously perceived as too risqué for television, programs have pushed the

Jill Soloway, comedian, writer and director, and pioneering television icon, created Transparent to
make the world a safer place for transgenders and other minorities. As Jill Soloway said at the 2016
Primetime Emmy Awards, she wants to topple the patriarchy and make transgenders and members of
the LGBTQ community heroes (Huffington Post, 2016). Therefore, through examining the themes of
gender identity and religion, both themes presented in the film and in class, Transparent comments on
society s current state and proposes meaningful change.
As Transparent begins, the opening credits offer a glimpse into the ideas of gender. From the lighting
of a candle, symbolizing light into the darkness of life, to a shimmering blue dress worn by a female
impersonator the opening credits reveal the process of becoming a transgender. Transitioning from a
male to a female, or vice versa, is a feat that only a few undertake. However, in the show Transparent,
Mort Pfefferman transitions into Maura Pfefferman, a masculine figure who blossoms in femininity
and bravery. While it is already a difficult task to come out as transgender, it is made even more
difficult in this case because Maura has to deal with many family dramas revolving around her self
absorbed children.
Throughout the first season of Transparent, gender identity is explored and seen through the
challenges that the characters face. For

  • 4. Industrial Melanism Of Biston Betularia Industrial Melanism of Biston Betularia or the Peppered Moth in England has been a textbook example of natural selection since it was first noticed. Before the industrial revolution the peppered moth was most commonly found in the light colored Typica variety. During the industrial revolution there was a significant rise in the dark Carbonaria form and a slight rise in the intermediate Insularia form. Beginning in 1970 the Typica variety has been returning to the common variety of peppered moth. This change has been assumed to be caused by increased predation on moths that did not blend into the bark on trees (Cook et al 2012). Before the industrial revolution the trees were light colored and covered in lichens and the Typica variety blended in well. The Carbonaria variety did not blend in and was naturally selected against by birds praying on them. During the industrial revolution the trees became darker due to soot and the lichens died. In this new environment Carbonaria had better camouflage and the Typica was naturally selected against. Since modern laws have cleaned up the air the trees are lighter again and the Typica variety is again being positively selected (Kettlewell 1956). Melanism is a heritable trait that is dominant for Carbonaria and recessive for Typica. There is another allele that is on the same locus for melanism. This allele forms the Insularia variety and is recessive to the Carbonaria allele and dominant to the Typica allele (Cook et al 2012). Because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mimic octopus, Thaumoctopus mimicus, is able to alter its body shape and colour to mimic up to 15 different species. Although mimicry of background patterns and textures is a common defence mechanism for the species under class Cephalopoda, mimicking of individual animals in the absence of the model is a unique feature in T.mimicus. It chooses to make itself more conspicuous to predators by mimicking high contrast colour patterned species. The mimic octopus is the best example of the Batesian mimics. The order in which the T.mimicus lineage evolved was based on several key traits. The ancestors of T.mimicus evolved the use of bold colour patterns as the secondary defence mechanism to shock and surprise the predators if camouflage failed. Additionally, the long arms were developed which facilitates the motion of flatfish swimming technique. Finally, an extremely risky shift in defence strategy was developed as the T.mimicus began displaying the bold colour patterns while mimicking a flatfish2. Dr Christine Huffard says that the close relatives of T.mimicus used drab colours and camouflage quite successfully to hide from predators1. However, it is assumed that as a result of natural selection, being conspicuous has allowed it to reproduce and survive more successfully than some of its less conspicuous ancestors and eventually evolved into its own lineage (clearly shown in Figure 1). Essay and referencing Introduction The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication (Eunson 2012). In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004) Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon and Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before. Context Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012) Conclusion I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message from George is first pre edited ... • 17. Difference Between Nature And Nurture In Language Nature and nurture both play significant roles in a child s development of language. Many scholars (such as Coulmas 1989 as cited in Christie, 2005) agree that the human brain is designed for language, yet they also state that it is learned because of relationships and interactions with those around them for example a child s parents (Christie, 2005). There are four major aspects of language development: phonology the sound structure of speech, syntax grammatical rules, semantics meaning of words and phrases and pragmatics using language to communicate. Theorists and scholars alike have debated nature versus nurture for many years, however it s not nature or nurture but rather an interplay of the two creating a unique development of language for children (Caton, Brisbane, Australia). Phonological development is the ability to be able to identify individual sounds and combine them into spoken words. From three months, babies will start to recognise their parent s voices, and by four to seven months babies will be able to recognise change in tone as well as respond to sounds such as music. As babies start to develop language they will start to form phonemes together e.g. mama, dada. This creates an unhealthy dependence on the government, which may destroy motivation to work since these people can freeload of the government for food, hurting the economy. The system should help those in poverty get up on their feet instead of babying them for their entire life. Another problem with food stamps is that they are a little too generous for the people who are capable of work. If you take a drive past any fire department you will probably see a volunteers needed sign. A fire chief in Pennsylvania stated I would like to have a greater turnout of firefighters on scene than what we currently have, he said. We have a lack of volunteers who are able to respond during daytime hours (Shawgo, 2014, p. 17). There are several reason that there is not as good of a turnout as there used to be. Back in the 1970s and 1980s the thing to do in town was to hang out at the fire house. There was not as much going on as there is today. People today want to spend more time with their family and go out to the movies or mini golfing, things that family s did not do as much back in the day. The average amount of training that a volunteer must go through is about 130 hours. Most people see that as too much time to sacrifice. Also, in today s economy many people work a second or even third job in order to make ends meet. There are also more single parent households then there used to be, which does not allow for hardly any time to volunteer. Due to the reasons stated above it is very difficult to properly staff fire trucks in volunteer departments. The average age of members continues to increase. Because of their role of protection, knights were commanded to adhere to a code of conduct. According to the book, What Life Was Like In the Age of Chivalry, this code of conduct was constructed by the king and enforced the idea of a strict sense of honor, morale, and duty (53). This code of conduct was vital for the morality of the knights and was commonly believed to be a mechanism used to elevate the status of women; however, according to Natalie Demasi, chivalry isn t about women at all. When the British decided to join the colonies Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad s sugar economy started to collapse. With the collapse of the economy and commodity prices rising, workers started to riot in Trinidad. Together these made the people and the colony of Trinidad difficult to work and live. While researching these topics, I used history articles and nonfiction books. Having the right and the best information will make for a better paper. Imperialism is a type of government that seeks to increase its size, either by forcing (through war) or influencing (through politics) other countries to submit to their rule. While researching about imperialism, I found that many articles explained how imperialism affected this colony in a way that I understand it. Slavery in Trinidad is the first reason to why imperialism in Trinidad was negative. For example, Between 1518 and 1870, the transatlantic slave trade supplied the greatest proportion of the Caribbean population (Countrystudies.us). This explains that Trinidad s slave trade was so bad, that the development of their colony was ten times harder. The slavery that the British began in Trinidad, became a major cause for how bad Trinidad s development would be. Another example of how slavery affected Trinidad, Even after the end of slavery and apprenticeship the Caribbean was not totally free. Former enslaved people received no compensation and had limited representation in the legislature s (Nationalarchives.gov.uk). Even though the slaves did not have to work anymore, their lives in Trinidad still were not the best that they could have been. • 26. Main Ideas and Themes of Beowulf Essay Beowulf and Sir Gawain have many things in common. We will be discussing them later on, but their main similarity is that they re both heroes. A hero is a person who must pass through a test and a battle (mental, spiritual or physical) to help someone else. He must be selfless, and act for others rather than himself. All societies have supported heroes, like the ancient Greek s Hercules and the modern day Spiderman. These are hero stereotypes, with supernatural powers. Heroes don t have to be stereotypes, but can be firemen, policemen or soldiers. Two famous heroes in ancient literature are Beowulf and Sir Gawain. Beowulf is about a guard who must destroy a destructive monster who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beowulf s test is to defeat the evil creature Grendel, protecting his hall and soldiers. Sir Gawain s test is to resist temptation to steal a magic belt, and steal the master s wife! Even though both tests are different, Beowulf s test and Gawain s test both test courage. The courage to take on a monster and the courage to resist stealing and keeping you re word! In the end, both succeeded, Grendel was killed, and sir Gawain received his blow, and stayed alive, but both had consequences. Beowulf s friends got killed, and later on Grendel s mother attacks him, and sir Gawain had been given a cut to his neck, and lost his honor. The test the heroes have to face, is often put up by a villain, and both have their fair share of villains. In Beowulf the enemy is a dark monster, which eats human and has super strength, enough to bend iron. In Sir Gawain, the apparent villain is the green knight, who challenges sir Gawain to a grueling beheading contest . After it s head falls off, he is not harmed, so he has some weird magical qualities. Both have supernatural powers and striking appearances, but the difference is that in sir Gawain and the green knight, the green knight is just the master of the kingdom in disguise, testing the nobility of King Arthur s knights, and not a mortal enemy. • 27. Tourism And Tourism In Dubai Dubai has been considered, globally, as one of the fastest developing regions of the twenty first century. Goves and Go described Dubai in their report (2009:73) as riding the waves of globalization, having firmly established itself in less than fifteen years, as an important node in the network of global flows . Dubai s strategic expansion has been factored towards its large influence within the tourism and leisure industries instead of the competitive oil markets in which its neighbouring countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar are known for. Leisure, as defined by Page and Connell (2010:10) describesw leisure not as a singular discipline, but as multiple factors which incorporate elements of geography, sociology, economics, politics, history and psychology, thus it can be difficult to fully define the term leisure however often it has been associated with times of relaxation or non work time for many travellers. To fully evaluate Dubai s position as a suitable leisure industry this essay will explore the framework proposed by Dimitrios Buhalis in his paper The Competitive Destination . Firstly, I will outline the activities and attractions available within Dubai, highlighting its reputation for achieving the biggest and best of architecture and entertainment. It is about the robbing and stealing of bank, Jewelry stores and wedding presents on the island of Couffignal. Couffignal is a small island connected by a wooden bridge to the mainland. The main street contains bank, hotels, jewelry stores and other usual stores. The higher part of the road lives the owners and rulers of the island. One of the rulers, The Henderixson family is having a wedding and they hired a detective to guard the valuable wedding presents. This shows that he must be one of the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to do with the content of the story. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the narrator is the detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The narrator is the detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Altruism is the belief and practice of self less concern for others over a person s own self. One of the biggest problems in our health care system today and possibly even during Henrietta s time is that medicine and health care as a whole are so commercialized and are only concerned with earning a profit. Henrietta s cells were stolen without any notice and her family was not compensated for this crime. Eventually Henrietta s cells became so important and eventually earned researchers millions of dollars. The theft of her cells had nothing to do with Henrietta as a person, but rather the doctors and researchers wanting to make a dollar off of a dead woman s cells. Dr. Gey and others did not know that Henrietta s cells were going to change medicine but the fact that they did change medicine and no compensation was given to Henrietta and her family show that many doctors are not concerned with their patients, they are more concerned about their paycheck and whether or not they will be remembered in history forever. Therefore, through examining the themes of gender identity and religion, both themes presented in the film and in class, Transparent comments on society s current state and proposes meaningful change. As Transparent begins, the opening credits offer a glimpse into the ideas of gender. From the lighting of a candle, symbolizing light into the darkness of life, to a shimmering blue dress worn by a female impersonator the opening credits reveal the process of becoming a transgender. Transitioning from a male to a female, or vice versa, is a feat that only a few undertake. However, in the show Transparent, Mort Pfefferman transitions into Maura Pfefferman, a masculine figure who blossoms in femininity and bravery. While it is already a difficult task to come out as transgender, it is made even more difficult in this case because Maura has to deal with many family dramas revolving around her self absorbed children. Throughout the first season of Transparent, gender identity is explored and seen through the challenges that the characters face. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
